00 Welcome back to the nullified take but we've got the tnt takes for you on australian survivor blood versus water i am joined here by my second guest for this season of australian survivor blood versus water breanna good child brianna welcome to the podcast how are you doing i'm fantastic thank you very excited to be here second guest and quite fitting because second round off yeah sadly second voted out this season i just mentioned to you prior to us going and recording this i almost said live because i'm so used to doing these podcasts live you know i just said i really admired your energy and enthusiasm throughout the whole season even after you left you kept really getting behind the season obviously your dad was on the season as well and did extremely well so i'm sure that somewhat helped even though you went early you still had someone to shout for until the end oh definitely i mean i'm a big survivor fan i've always loved the show and i think it was my provocative either way of you know i obviously wanted a different tale to happen one where i get to the end and probably win the thing you know that's what we're all hoping for i think but regardless i was going to enjoy the journey and make the most of it in whatever way and it definitely helped that good old juicy dave he did really well and you know
20 Made it very far into the piece very big fan favorite this season everybody wanted to know a lot about juicy dave and hopefully at some point i'll have an opportunity to talk to him directly as well but we'll talk about that at a later stage hopefully if this podcast goes well you can put in a good word with your dad for me so no pressure i noticed prior to going live i had a quick look again at your bio you know you do a lot of things so presenter writer producer commentator so many different things that you've got going on in real life like you know you kind of came into australian survivor like a whirlwind and i feel like in life you're a bit of a whirlwind yourself as well you do a lot like what is it that drives you to do so many different things yeah like i am a bit of a what we call a professional slashie so a slashy someone who does do many different things and look there's specialists there's generalists i'm a bit of a generalized specialist let's say so you know i love film production and that's something that's stolen my heart since a young age but it's you know it's a career or a pathway that's very dynamic it's ever changing and the truth is to survive you actually have to be quite versatile it's you know some people get lucky and can just choose one thing i am not that person
41 Haven't been able to be yet so i do many things to sort of you know keep the wheels turning and it's kind of the case of planting seeds in different directions and seeing what sprouts so you know my big passions are presenting i presented on tv national tv for many years in a bunch of namely children's shows but other shows as well i also present and commentate for basketball which i love i love my sports i definitely want to work more in that space i started behind the camera so i'm trained fully in film production and writing and have always worked in those spaces too and you know my roller skating hobby well i've been able to sort of you know make something of that as well and you know turn that into a little bit of a monetized avenue as well so i am someone who likes to keep a few balls going and i think you know if i was to say i had a superpower it'd be energy and that's something that i love to give and you know use and so i think that's what sort of drives me to do many things and really throw myself fully into things like i did survivor perhaps a little too much though i was gonna say does this come naturally or is this like fueled by a lot of caffeine like how does that work i actually don't drink coffee so naturally you won't believe it are you watching
01 This current season of survivor 42 that's playing in the us at all are you keeping an eye on that or you haven't had time look i'm watching a bit of the feed but truth be told i have not been watching whether it's just a little bit of scarring from you know coming out the other side or no i've really it's been more of a time management thing but i've definitely been keeping up with just sort of the bits you see on social media yeah so if you ever get the opportunity i think this is if you're a big fan like you say you've watched a lot of survival in the past and it'll be good to know if you've watched a lot of us and australian survival or if australian survivor is the main show that you've watched both so i grew up watching us and like in year 12 i studied very hard and i got good grades but i would basically live week to week to watch bachelor and then survivor both american seasons like and that would be my like wednesday night peak night off study and i'd just binge well i couldn't binge watch actually it's just back in the day when you had to one week for each episode so yeah love the survivor seasons and then obviously when the australian ones came out i've watched every one of those too yes no i mean that to me i think you know it definitely resonates i'm a big fan myself as you can see by the buff collection here in the background yeah so trying to collect a few there so
21 That's a fan as well but you know this season is really good there's one specific contestant on the season that reminds me of you in regards to the energy on the show so that's why i asked you if you've seen it before shut it down and then go watch mary anne so her name is mary and she's got very high energy where i think that it's same thing it's just natural oozing out of her and i don't want to give anything away but probably this is the best season i think in the us that we've had in a very long time not to try and oversell wow that's saying a lot and look funny you mentioned that about the energy too because i don't know this is just sort of me so i'm like okay yeah no i do i do know i have a lot of energy i think i'm not too much but maybe for some but i do remember it was quite funny not shown on tv i think it was day it might have been day two three one of those ones i wake up you know we're all just literally sleeping on the dirt because the paper bark was so scratchy we didn't end up using this shelter because it just was horrible so we're all just sleeping literally in the dirt and sand and i remember waking up and be like good morning and i think i was like saying this to the tribe and jordy goes oh too much energy and i was like oh man that would like make me chilled but anyway
43 So as a big fan you've obviously watched a lot of survivor before i would assume who were the players that you really respected coming into the season and that you thought oh you know i'd love to play a little bit of this and a little bit of that and add a little bit of the brianna flavor to it and then go out there and really dominate the season yeah totally okay well unfortunately i don't think subtlety is something i admire much and so you know i made the i made the crime the error of watching all stars before playing my favorite players are the bigger players i loved poverty i loved you know boston robin amber back in the day loved dave the golden god in the australian seasons anyone who just went in there and caused a bit of havoc you know i even liked dirty harry and players like that king george as well i like anyone who goes in and creates like a little bit of let's say entertainment and people who go pretty hard so i'm sort of not more i'm not really someone who admires the slow burn let's say i really admire the players who can go big and make that last but obviously there's a real art to that yeah i feel like if me and you had to podcast together about a survivor season like people
03 Would get bored because we would be liking the same players out there i always try to have a co-host who really like the subtle players and the ones that yeah i'm the same as you i'm exactly the same i mean look at tony blackwell is like one of the best players ever you know high energy as well and someone that went that's why i was so upset when it's like no one wanted me to play because everyone was not meant to know how to play and everyone was meant to be shy and i'm like oh guys boring like come on anyway i've only waited thank you for this i did i did see in your pre-season bit where you had to answer some questions before you went out there you said you would rather be remembered than be out there and not be remembered and i do feel like even though you were there for a short stint i've had a lot of people on the channel when i did my live retrospective for the season i had people coming on here saying you have to get brianna on for an interview because we loved how hard she went early so there are definitely some brianna fans out there that will remember you so i felt like you made an impact at least for the time that you were out there yeah well look i think with my personality you know i like to say i'm a bit of a maximizer so you know i like to think that regardless of
23 How it pans that i'll get the most out of something and i think my personality does handle more deal better with the idea that at least i went big and i blew up and i probably shot myself in the foot while i did shoot myself in the foot and i can handle that more than i could handle not have giving enough and feeling like i have you know i you know i think i left and i felt like i have had unfinished business where now i'm sort of like ah you know what it was true to who i am whether that's a smart play i think you live and you learn and i think i was so excited to sort of prove myself and show me where if i ever play again it would be a completely different idea i'd just be like well you don't get to see this you're going to see you know like me putting on a show which will be a little bit more you know well i say this now but again when you're out in the game you know you're not playing with your best self you play with your sleep deprived paranoid hangry you know g dot self so it's all well and good to say what you would do but you know when you get out of the emo in the moment it's what really what you go what you revert back to i suppose and it also depends obviously on the people that you're out there with and what they respect and how they want to play the game so we saw you early on in the season get pretty close to
43 Shay shaded pretty well this season as well i mean going all the way around and becoming a real big warrior winning so many immunities out there you know what was it that sort of drove you to work or made you want to work with shay so early in the game and shay was the one that was very i guess visible to us as an audience due to the edit who else outside of shay were the people that you wanted to work with as well so two questions there yeah okay so what i loved about shea was she sort of more chose me straight away she was like came up to me was hanging around me and i was like oh okay i've got a little friend and i just think like a you're definitely looking for mates out there like who wouldn't i'm a very social person i wanted to play socially and normally i you know i'm someone who typically make friends relatively easy so like i feel like i'm a social butterfly normally so i was kind of like i'll make a bunch of friends out there and then you know that'll all go well so it's great having her come around but she really sort of chose me in terms of other people around it was mark and i got along really well as well and i think he saw a bit of his wife you know in me in certain characteristics so and he also just had such great knowledge as a returning player i mean obviously massive threat won the whole
03 Thing wasn't surprised i picked it from like day dot but he also lent me his jacket because i was there with you know very little in the wardrobe department so he was a good guy never ended up voting for me so we get along well as well but everyone was really quite lovely around camp however i do feel like my energy might have been better received if i had been on the other tribe i think it would have been a completely different paddle of fish if i'd been on the blood tribe rather than water tribe because to be honest i wouldn't have stood out there was a lot more let's say bigger personality players in that early stage not that there wasn't big personality players on my tribe but they sort of hid the game that you know the provocative was to hide in those early days where i think the other tribe it was less about hiding and more about i don't know something else but definitely we saw a lot bigger players emerge later from the water tribe yeah it's an interesting observation because probably the biggest player in your initial tribe was voted out right from the start which was andy i mean andy had a big reputation coming into the show and yeah so i mean him going this early how on board were you from the start to get him out this early and in hindsight do you think that if he stayed
23 Around it could have benefited someone like yourself that also wanted to play a little bit more chaotic since he is a chaotic player as well yes well that was it where i was yeah andy was great lovely guy first and foremost and he was also a wealth of knowledge and actually someone very valuable to have around camp they didn't show it much but he was really oh maybe they showed it a little bit but he was very instrumental in helping us build a shelter took a lead on that probably to his detriment albeit but yeah i was wondering if i could work with him obviously i was kind of on the mentality of let's just vote all the returning players off asap because to be honest i don't think you can credit enough how much playing a second time gives you advantage like it's just the advantage you get is just insane because you don't actually get taught how to play and that was my big downfall was like i was like so scared of doing nothing i did way too much it's because i didn't know how it worked so i just over did over did it all and i think now i know i go oh i could literally nap for the first five days and i'd do way better than i did so anyway so you live in the new loan but i think like honestly these returning players it's just like that is the ultimate advantage that's like bigger than that's like finding five immunity idols at once in my opinion unless you're
43 Andy and poor randy got voted off because of it but i think the turning point where i sort of went could i work with him couldn't i work with him was they didn't show much of it but i was also helping out a bit with the shelter and you know my dad works in construction i'm a producer in my day job so i'm used to i'm not afraid of being like oh maybe we could try it this way and you know sort of having a bit of leadership and certain things and there was a few things about building the shelter that i offered some suggestions but andy picked up on it was like oh boss woman brianna ford and brianna and sort of made a few of these comments and i was like that's like paying your target on me so that's when i sort of really jumped on board of you know i was kind of thinking oh i might need to suggest getting andy out because it sounds like he's trying to like put a target on me so that was sort of what definitely sold me on the andy vote because he just seemed like maybe he was throwing a bit of attention my way yeah spoken like a true fan and wanting to get returning players out early on because if you're a fan of the show you'll know that i think there's only been twice in the history of the show that a returning player has not won a season that they have returned on and i'm sure people will correct me if i'm wrong here but there's been like six or eight seasons and normally the returning player ends up winning those seasons against new players one of the big reasons why me
03 Personally i'm not a fan of mixing any returning players with new players out there i'm happy for mark obviously he's a great player i like walking around with new players and like honestly these returning players they're like yeah they do just nap they nap because they can they don't need to try as hard everyone else is like blowing up their own games and they're like love it i'll just sit in the water watch them that's what they do and i mean i'm sure they have a little bit of like a celebrity almost status within the tribe as well where people are like oh you know luke tolkien you know david gennad you know i'd love to meet them and that you want to be friends with them so you can get to be in the cool kids club kind of oh definitely and that was totally what happened and again you can see how it can work in your absolute favor or not andy you know it was the reason why i got voted off mark however he was like the father of the tribe everyone would come around tell us the story mark tell us how to do this definite celeb status and yeah even i think i remember watching all stars and you know dave was back in again and i remember him saying like i was a bit nervous and everyone just wanted to play with him already because they loved watching him last season and he was like oh i can work with this i can make this work so i think that's definitely something that comes around but honestly like yeah
24 What you said about the returning players coming back and just winning like i just couldn't believe in the other tribe too like ben was trying to keep sandra around i'm like mate are you serious like that's the stupidest thing ever we're gonna let her win a third time like the crazy thing for me was that your dad who i and you can set the record straight here i had the suspicion that your dad wasn't a big fan of the show coming into it i don't know how much he's watched it before but he knew to get rid of sandra early on and he was targeting her he just didn't have soldiers to do it with him so i was quite amazed by this guy who's supposed to be the tag along for the fan of the show coming onto the show making the right decisions early on here how much did he watch prior to going on there and what was the strategy that you guys had in between like did you talk about ideally how you would like to play the game together yeah definitely and look to be honest australia the world was robbed by not seeing dad and i play together like frankly robbed like you all need to you know take that to the grave with you didn't see something you should have seen it's going to be amazing anyway that aside dad was actually the one who got me into survivor so dad was the original fan i mean he wasn't a die-hard but i remember
44 I yeah actually remember the first time he was like hey brish that's my nickname he goes you've got to watch this show and i'm like ah what is it dan and at this point i probably would have been maybe 14 like quite young maybe even younger and it was like dad making me sit down and he was like oh so it's this game right and they get all these people in and they have to survive i'm like how does it work he's like watch it and he's like oh they just do this season after season and it's good every time and i remember just like getting fascinated with it and dad and i you know it'd be a great bonding experience we'd watch it together then i sort of took over as someone who you know became quite obsessed with the show and then dad would sort of you know watch whenever he was around or could and then definitely the australian seasons i think dad did watch them but not as religiously as me and then it was sort of my goal to go on the show where i think dad was like yeah it's cool but probably something he ever thought he would do where i remember making an agreement with myself from a very young age being like okay i'm doing this one day and so that's why it was such a goal of mine so look we did dad so dad was never applying for the show i'd applied twice the first time i got very far along the audition process but i was 21 and i also had a heart condition so
04 I grew up with a heart condition and i flatlined twice before and the first time i applied i still had the condition and to be honest they were just not really willing to risk it and i remember in my final interview that was one of the main things i kept asking a question i was like nah that's all right just let me out there glad i didn't go because i think it would have ended in a very hectic medivac situation since had a procedure to cure that and cured for life and so i was like great you know next time it comes around i'll audition again but then i worked at a competitor network in tv for about four years so in my contracts it explicitly stated i wasn't allowed to audition for any other shows at a different network and hence why the survivor dream was put on halt but when that ended during covert the first thing i did was go okay well now i can apply for survivor again and put it in and that's when it came through so i applied as soon as you could and i was really dragged along a very long audition process and they sort of were trying to be sneaky and be like oh maybe you maybe you bring on a relative but i been a fan straight away knew the blood first water narrative and yeah and then it was sort of like to be honest i was kind of like i just want to play by myself i don't want to bring a relative
25 So it was funny when yeah well when i had to ask dad i was like damn it like dad's not going to want to leave his job and like not that i was i was actually thinking like dad's probably got a better shot of it winning it than me i was like oh he's actually he'd actually be great at that but anyway i remember telling dad i'm like oh dad just like just do the interview for me and then like let's hope they just like just want me and then you get to keep working he's like oh fine okay and then yeah but anyway they love him how could they not he's a great guy and has the capabilities of great player our strategy was that we're quite similar but i'm very much 50 my mom and my dad my mom's an absolute firecracker very creative dad's a bit more business-minded and level-headed and i'm somewhere right in between i can ping-pong between the two so i think with dad and i we're both quite social characters dad's a cool dad we like to hang out anyway and i think we could have played a real social card but the good thing is we can like crush skulls when we need to and click into business mode so both quite strategic both quite good negotiators and i think you know who doesn't like i think something like a fatherly figure can be something that's quite reassuring and something people can
45 Trust and want to work with and i think having dad around would have maybe decreased my threat level and sort of elevated his status level i think is sort of how we maybe saw that going where you know it makes me yeah i think he would level me out a bit more and i would push him a little bit more so drives the moves where he might settle me down that's kind of how we saw it playing out between the two of us yeah there's so much i want to sort of dive into just based of what you've just thought when you first when you first applied so going back to 21. would that would that have been like the what season would that have been like season two yeah and literally i went on a because i was like almost i was almost on and i was just waiting for that final call and i went and did a survival camp like outbush and literally like when we didn't eat for however many days it was and you just slept on the ground you built a shelter and i was like okay great prep and i met elle out there elle who ended up you know dating lee and ended up yeah making it very far and then we both were like looking at each other and like and yeah anyway he ended up making it on and i didn't but yeah crazy it's interesting because that first season i feel like you would have been an even bigger
05 Fish out of water because there was so much mateship going on and no big strategic moves i mean nicodenza i've seen it yeah i could have been naked even i would be like come on and he's like the nicest guy but people are like you're a snake just for trying to be strategic so it would have been interesting yeah totally well i've already said like because you get that question would you be a hero or a villain and i think dad's very much a hero character but i'm like oh look villain if the shoe fits if it's interesting be the villain you know yeah well you like george and all like david and all these other villainous players so i can completely see that i'm the same i think the villains have the most fun but i think it's also so difficult to have these preconceived ideas and then you go out there and then the situation does not allow for the things that you thought in your mind like listen this is how i can play this how i can make friends like you said you know you're a great social person i can tell just by this conversation like you know immediately i can vibe with you and you probably vibe with a lot of people and make it really easy but when you're out there all of these people are very social and they're all really good at vibing i mean there's a reason they get selected and i think that as a fan you underestimate that until you go out there and you see all these players playing that way and you're like damn there's a lot of really likable people around
25 Me out here that are playing the game i'm really interested to know who did you feel the most betrayed by like in the moment i know probably now after the game bygones be bygones and i don't know how you're feeling maybe you still feel some sort of way towards it but who did you feel but the question is who was i most betrayed by yes okay well yes look i think the thing is you take it all very personally when you're out there and i think i looked back and i watched and i was like wow didn't need to take that anywhere near as personally as i did but it's crazy reality tv it does become your reality and it's this weird it's this weird concept that you know you really can't be braced enough for it and exactly what you said about you have all these ideas and i think it's really the managing of expectations and just when yeah like i think the strengths my and i remember sam gash saying this to me and she found this to be the case when she first played and again having that second time player hindsight was very knowledgeable she sort of said you know your strengths in real life become your weaknesses in the game and for me that was definitely it like normally i come in and people love the bubbliness bubbly this was not what people were after in this one not that they didn't like it like
45 I was quite popular but again it just sort of anyone's looking for any reason and i just gave them too much and it's the less you give the less they have to use so that was sort of something that i didn't you know i'm used to giving so much and that sort of pays off for me normally but then i worked out oh it's not like real life it's this weird game where if i had literally slept for five days or you know poor alex who injured his back he did way better than me because he had to lie down for like half the time and so you know it wasn't really much of a reason to vote him off apart from the physical element which normally that might have been a good case but you know people felt sorry for him so yeah it's just one of those things now what was the original question i was going to say back to the original question here and that's all right and that's because you kind of gave me a little bit back on my observation as a fan going in to play the game but my original question was who were you the most betrayed by and why out there yes i completely skirted around that look okay i think in the moment oh i think it would have to be shea of course because look i'm not that i don't not that i wouldn't have done the same thing potentially in her case you know i mean like really brazen for
05 Me to think that she would play the idol for me but i kind of thought ah if she had we would have completely flipped the dynamics of that tribe we would have set into motion very early what we saw happen a couple laps later and you know chrissy did make it through to the final end bit so imagine taking that piece out then it would have been a very different gameplay however you know this trust hadn't been built enough for shay or shea is someone who does like to i think not go against the majority which is again like a smart thing to do i suppose it's not high risk but which is more my flavor but yeah it makes a lot of sense so i think in that moment it did really feel like a betrayal because she didn't have to vote for me she could have not voted for me and she could have still not played the art appointment but i think the real betrayal was when i said to her they're going to vote for me because it wasn't a blind side either i've seen a few articles that were like ah brian i was like the whole episode i'm like gee i'm on the chopping block what can i do here so yeah and that was it i tried to in the end my downfall was i played hard and then i tried to backtrack and let someone else get a bit of heat and stuff which is what ended up happening to my dad and he was able to make that work for him but for me i should have even gone harder and
25 Just bloody found the idol because i told her where to find it so you know i was like ah i just needed to keep going even harder really become a george and then scramble my way back after playing an idol not what happened so i just think yeah it's not so much the fact that she played the idol for me but maybe that she had to write my name down when mark didn't and that's actually a bold move like i still don't know why he didn't just go with majority there but kudos he definitely would have got my vote for the win just from that alone i wish i asked him that i didn't i didn't remember that when i had him on for an interview to ask him why that vote went in a different direction would have been interesting to know another question that i had for you is that in these early stages you had that opportunity to get your hands on an idol when you nearly wrestled chrissy to get to that idol in hindsight looking back at that now like do you feel like you should have gone harder and what was the thinking behind doing this so publicly in front of the tribe did you think through what the consequences could be in that moment and how people may perceive you as a very cutthroat and aggressive player or did that not sort of cross your mind at that stage in the game look it look it had crossed my mind but again it's just learning different peoples
46 And different dynamics i'm someone who respects like i've always grown up in sport i commentate basketball what do i love i love hard aggressive gameplay i like big players i like people who make moves i like people who cross over people you know this is what i admire so if i saw someone do what i did i would have been like i'm working with this chick she's great love it you know but again different per people different personalities and you know on some other tribes people wanted to keep santa around and sandra's going around going i'm going to cut people down like you know she's not playing a subtle game and people are throbbing it so again it's just what the flavor was we had a lot more subtlety in our early days at the camp people it was definitely the trend to pretend like you never even saw the show and you didn't like it and you didn't know what it was about and you hated the fact you were here there was a lot of chat about oh gosh can you believe it's this can you believe it's that yuck meanwhile i'm like this is my dream you know so it was just for me i obviously had different perspective things and i've watched all stars and like kind of that was my real downfall where i sort of thought bigger the better and it was sort of how i wanted to play look you can only be well actually no this is true you can be as many times as you want but look i went in young dumb and broke and went for broke
06 I think the boxing out again like to me that's not a big deal i've played sport my whole life i did try to let shay have her moment and the whole thing was i thought if i can build trust early with this person we can have a george in cara dynamic a cake was it kim and chelsea in one of the americans they were actually two of my favorite placebolts i think that was like i just loved them and i kind of wanted to get enough love just between you chelsea because she was the two i see to kim gets all that love but they kind of ran that together so chelsea and so i sort of was thinking those vibes and when shea came to me again she sort of sought me out i thought great kim and chelsea let's get it you know but yeah so that's kind of what i thought i thought oh if i help her get that look and if she did get the how i imagined it going down is look the whole point was we read the rules and you could only grab it after the last person sat down so the whole thing i was only meant to do is just be the last person to sit down i saw the idol straight away unfortunately shea got confused and didn't realize was right there and i was like
26 Oh and like and part of me would have been aggressive enough to just go get it myself but i was trying to be like respectful that this was not my thing and i was like bloody hell like me trying to relax is probably the worst thing i ever did out there should have just gone even harder because if we had got that one again it wouldn't have liked really these first tribal things it actually doesn't matter and that's what i've sort of you know in hindsight 2020 you love the george players who go out big from the start but then they've got a lot of work to do to stay there i think a smarter play and again i didn't go in to really play smart i went to play hard a smarter play is to actually kind of just do nothing give people nothing and sit along and let everyone else blow up and then have to play at a later point but again that doesn't sound like a lot of fun to me so there you go so a couple of quick fire questions here because i've got a few i still want to get through while i've got you on so one of them is you probably watched the whole season i assume right through until the end because you were invested in this season if i take your dad out of the equation and i take mark out of the equation i'm sure you'll very highly rate both of them who were you the most surprised by and who played a game worthy of return in your opinion oh okay no dad no mark all right who am i thinking okay
48 Look jordy played a great game loved it however his ultimate downfall was that he was just so untrustworthy the whole time so he never gave anyone something that was concrete or something they could hold on to and he sort of wasn't selling them something greater than what they already had it was always a risk if you went with him that's why my dad didn't flip with jordy much earlier because it was like sighed for geordie so jordy can achieve his dreams there was really nothing in it for dad so i reminded me off jordy just while you're on that subject he reminded me of someone that played the voting block strategy that we had in second chances where it's like this vote i'll vote with this person next vote i'll vote with that person and i don't feel like this season of australian survivor catered to that because it was such a strong dominant alliance that we're just sticking together for most of the season that loyalty was respected in a nutshell though like yeah i think like you know chuck us on american survivor we might do a bit better because it's a bit more wild yeah so i think i'd be interested to see him play a second time around actually if i had to i someone i was really impressed with was as well like i think amy like we clicked outside of the show and i feel like if we ever go back together be gold so
08 That's amazing i've got amy and my top five that i did last week i'd love to see come back i think amy similar to yourself i could either one of you two you wanted to play and make big moves which is what we as fans want to see on the show so if the producers ever listened to this interview you know i endorse a brianna or an amy return to go and play once more to get a second chance i mean it went so well for both mark and sam who went early in their original season so you never know what could happen if you wouldn't yeah exactly real prematures and early on in their tribes now another question i have for you is things got a bit ugly i feel like this season with the fans and their response to some of the players that were out there i felt and again when i say the fans i believe it's more of a casual fan base that get that angry about big moves being played but there was some i feel like additional hatred towards female players that played a strong game this season and how do you feel about some of this when you're sitting on the sideline do you feel like you got out at a good time and do you feel like this is something that you would have to think twice about if you were to go out there and play the game again because i feel like for women especially an australian survivor when they play this game they've got this extra bogey that they have to think about like how am i going to be perceived by public if i play a cutthroat
28 Game as well is this something that you paid attention to this season or you try to just stay away from a lot of this because you're such a positive person in general you probably just want to take in the good vibes instead of some of that negativity yeah look truly i am someone who is familiar with media before as well and social media space and you do need to have i do believe in having strategies to protect yourself and also to place in perspective the values of others or the opinions about this so for me i have i had predetermined what my let's say troll strategy would be going in and look the truth of the matter is i didn't do this experience for anyone else but myself and unfortunately you only see such a small snippet of what actually goes on you know there's so many narratives that people can say or judge or analyze anything they see and there's only really so much truth to it so it's kind of a case where you know be you an analyst be you a super fan like myself i now look back at what i thought about other players and other players i've even met since and how different you know
49 They are to their edits and things like that there's just so little so little truth and so much of what people's what people can take away from it so honestly i had a real like look i don't need to know the good and i don't need to know the bad about what other people are saying because i think it's not really wise and those that do make it to me will be the opinions that i actually care about so yeah so to be honest i wasn't really seen or brought too much attention about this i mean i did see a bit i did hear a bit about what sam suffered and stuff like that and obviously i don't endorse it i think it's more important to be an advocate of what you are for rather than what you don't like i think you know hate's not the answer let's focus on what we do like rather than what we don't and yeah i do think like we need to be you know like one of the reasons i got voted out was you know someone when they emerged tribe said oh we had to get rid of brown she was just too confident why is confident women a bad thing i think it's a great thing and i think we need to be more comfortable with it we don't have to be shy we don't have to be apologetic we can play big moves and i think that's to be respected and i think yeah big players respect big players and i feel like if you're someone who doesn't like a big move maybe that says more about you than it does
09 About the person making move although sam's move was so ruthless so i was even shocked when i saw that go down i was like oh the idle steal i don't know if i could have done it but you know what i had to be like well kudos for having the courage to do a move like that as a fan i love it i think it's going to go down in some australians yeah we'll talk about it 10 20 seasons from now it'll still be a thing that people talk about and you know again i'm very different because i look at it as a game and i understand that in the concept the context of the game it is a big move and that sam's not going to go out and steal things from people in real life you know it's just not who she is as a person but for some other reasons well like it's a game so like who cares like you know like doesn't matter what anyone does out there like you know yeah exactly and like you said i mean i think it's in the moment people really get hurt by these things because you rely on people around you to survive to make rice to gather food to just like do the basic necessities the least glamorous things like cuddling up to someone at night just to stay warm you know things like that we as audience members maybe see a 30-second clip on the tv screen when you're out there in the dark sleeping you know in the middle of nowhere and i'm sure that the outback can get pretty cold as can i get on that point too my biggest
29 Gripe with australian survivors they do not show enough how much you survive like it's actually way more brutal than they show like my dad did not eat for three days like when is anyone that's not in for three days in australia you know like it's just you know and he actually broke two ribs in the first week and you don't get panadol or anything like that it's really you know people like oh do you get to sleep in sleeping bags after no like come on did you not see the show but they don't show it enough i think like it's quite crazy how much people like the elements get to people they don't show enough of those tears it's a lot about the relationships and the drama there rather than like the survival element but is that such a big part so i'm from south africa originally so i'm kind of used to like camping outdoors and being out of the wild as well but the outback looks absolutely brutal to me like if i had to like choose a place to play i'd much rather go play in fiji playing on and the outback where you've got like no beach or anything like that like what was the most difficult thing out there i mean i know you were only there for what six days or something like that but still it's a long period of time to live out in the bush i guess or out in the middle of nowhere yeah i actually you know like my surprise people but i'm actually a real camping girl like i sleep
49 In swags and stuff like that as well so i'm less maintenance than people think but i mean we all saw me out there in my bikini i was sold i was sold that we were going to fiji i was bloody lied to and very disappointed you know i was told to pack for the beach and i did and i was betrayed so biggest betrayal was by production but yeah so it wasn't really money i was like oh where's the coconuts i had this strategy of just like stealing coconuts in the bush like tyson but anyway no coconuts for me at least we had the beautiful rivers it was very beautiful but it was brutal weather i'm a queensland girl so i love the heat and love like the sun actually yeah it was too sun protected i lost a bit of tan going out there i was like what am i doing i need to get more sun but the hardest thing was probably just the how dirty you get i mean yeah i love being outdoorsy i like i don't i love being outside so i actually don't i think the sleeping outside had less effect on me than most and that was all fine but i think the biggest thing was yeah just you can't brush your teeth you can't wash your face you can't wash anything you get so dirty my bikini just became so brown so quickly
09 And yeah just like how dirty you get and then our fingers all get cut up because you're doing all these rope challenges and that and it's just trying to keep that clean so i think that's sort of like just the lack of hygiene which i couldn't imagine what it would have been like after 47 days i suppose you just like adapt but yeah so you spoke a little bit about the edits and i'm quite curious to know like what about your eater do you feel like they missed out on like if you could have had the perfect edit were you happy with that or was there something that you felt like man i wish they showed a little bit more of this look i think ultimately like again the edit yeah like i mean the edit for me wasn't entirely true like the big ones the fishing tackle box where khan had literally searched it right before i had and he goes to me let me know if you find so you know it was like i was just like in there in front of everyone going for it like yes but also two other people had searched it right before i did so like a little bit different you know the comments about christine the challenge well that's everything i said over a two hour period and then they cut it all back to back and change the order so it looked like i just absolutely went for her and again i'm only saying these things because i'm asked very targeted questions and then i keep getting asked the same questions until they finally get the answer they want so go figure
30 And obviously that was my big demise there so yes again as a if i ever go on again you learn these things that you just don't answer the bloody questions but i was so excited to be there i was like answer the question yeah so in terms of my edit look ultimately i'm really happy with it because i think if the young me had watched it she would have been like this chicks fun this chick's cool whatever so i actually really liked mine i thought it was while it was not 100 accurate i thought it was very true to the overall story and i feel like it did capture i felt like it did a really good job of capturing sort of the different elements of who i am as a person like bit of fun bit strategic trying to be a challenge beast and really get much of a chance but you know it i actually quite liked it i thought considering i was there for such a short time i got some great time and they really did try to show all of my personality i could have just been this big baddie bee but i think they gave me a little bit more you know show of my fun side of my you know quirky side too okay so as we're closing off here i know i said keep it at 40 minutes we're kind of over there so much fun that's so much fun talking with you so far what was your favorite moment out there like you know five years ten years from now when you maybe someday have some kids you know you'll talk to them about oh you know when i was on this show australian
50 Survivor this happened this was such a cool memory that i'm gonna remember for the rest of my life okay look okay i think i'm gonna do three moments let's do four okay very exciting so definitely me and dad so like just honestly like my dad is my hero i love the pieces he's such a great guy i have a beautiful family and i think to share that moment with him i think the best time was honestly stepping out of that first moment you know you've kind of like you're sort of like off camera like always blindfolded and it's very disorientating a bit like paranoia inducing but anyway the blindfolds are off and you're in this oasis and you know i'm there with dad and we're all lined up and it's yeah it's quite surreal but to like be there with my dad the guy who got me into the show that was pretty magical next point seeing the helicopter rock up and sandra i was like this is pretty cool like i got to play i got to play with sandra nina and actually i'm going to north carolina where they're from because my sister graduates from duke university over there so i'm gonna see and visit them again soon so that was second moment the third moment was there was just so many butterflies around and i love butterflies so i remember just having this attitude of i won't let any moment be wasted and thank god i didn't because
10 You know wasn't there long but walking off you know when you do your march to tribals we just went through these bits where there should be butterflies in the trees and then the last thing would be the challenges the challenges were so cool they were so hard and just like you look at and go how will i ever do this and then you got to go out there and beast it and it was the one with yeah i think it was the one the last one i did before i went home that was probably my favorite we had to climb up those giant like ramps run and grab the rope and then we had to roll those barrels i mean were that bloody close to not losing and i knew i was on the top about but it was a fun challenge and bursting through the sand first as well it's quite a good one so yeah they're my they're my highlights that's awesome well brianna it's been so much fun to talk to you about your experience out there in australia australian survivor i hope that in the future i get an opportunity to have you on for a recap next season when the next australian survivor comes up i hope you're open and you want to talk about the show i mean it would be great to have a professional presenter because i'm anything but professional on the show here with me as well it'll the tnt channel here on youtube so much fun and
