Clip · 13 Mar 2026 · 6 min

Summary

In this live chat the hosts talk through Survivor 50 episode 3. They like Christian and Devens telling their alliance that Devens found the idol, since it is really Christian’s advantage, though telling Emily was a big blunder. One host thinks Christian outplayed Devens by playing to his ego and using him as a shield. Devens’ fake idol might buy him one round. They also pass on a rumor that Devens was an alternate for the season, which the hosts say they cannot explain.

0:00 The time I see you in the comment sections after the videos have been dropped, but thank you for jumping into the live. Andre, where do we start on this episode? Where do we start? Let's talk about your two favorite characters this season. I feel like I know who they are. The Bended Brothers, you know, Christian and Devens. Lots and lots of people >> I was going to put Q in there as well. I was like, "Where are we going here?" >> [laughter] >> Oh, no. I thought I thought Devens and Christian, they're both in your Aren't they both in your draft? Yeah, they're both in my draft. They're holding the torch. It's been a It's been a rough start for those people who have not been following. I don't We'll bring it up later. >> Historic run, yeah. It's a historic I think it's another five take first. We've got I think so. >> [laughter] >> Somebody had to like rip the band-aid, but four people out back-to-back from your draft.

0:52 You've got You've got Christian and Drew. And I would say to a certain degree, you've got a pretty solid team right now. Mike White also looking pretty solid. Heavily on the David versus Goliath alliance for you now. That's going to be the alliance that you're going to have to shout for, but I wanted to talk a little bit about Christian and Devens and in this early stages of this episode, the strategy to bring their alliance members into the fold when it comes to the idol. What was your thoughts in regards to everything that happened? It was a good idea. I don't know why them telling the alliance that Devens found the idol is good for Devens. I don't know why he would agree to that, but that's the way he's playing. He's like, "I don't care. I will just do what I just I want to be the character this season." it's really good for Christian because if they tell if they if their alliance, you know, and it does spread around that Aubry has the idol and Aubry gets voted off, they're going to think that Devens has the idol, but actually Christian has the idol.

1:51 So, that is actually quite cuz knowledge is power in this game. And if only Devens and Christian knows that Christian is the one with the idol, that gives them more power. So, I can see why Devens did that for that particular reason. I thought it was a savvy move, but the way that they did it by you know, I found it a little bit strange they just told Cirie up front rather than trying to get them all in a room together. and then Christian on the map telling Emily that's another. I think that was a That was a pretty big blunder by Christian to be a Yeah. I don't know why >> watch her Did he not watch her season? Like we know like this is the Emily we know from her original season coming out. >> Like episode one and two, yeah. Yeah. And I think that again, it's so easy sitting here in the comfort of our home to judge these players and how they play the strategy in the moment. It's a lot harder to make the right decisions, right?

2:41 But Emily obviously, you know, some insecurities coming out from this. And who can blame her because she's swapped into a tribe ultimately with three people from David versus Goliath. Suddenly she becomes the Well, am I as still as important to you Christian as I was before the swap. So, some interesting things happening then. I do want to talk a little bit about the strategy from Christian here cuz I thought both Devens and Christian, they're playing really well together, but Christian is kind of outplaying Devens, I feel like at this stage a little bit because whose advantage is it really for people to think that Devens was the one who found the idol? It's Christian's. And he did it in such a subtle way. He played into to Devens's ego a little bit, I think here as well because Devens is the idol hunter and he wants to be known as the idol hunter. That's something that his legacy is built on. So, he's like, "Of course I'm the idol hunter. Of course I'm going to take the bullets for you here." But I feel like Christian kind of one-upped him a little bit here in this moment.

3:35 Still obviously wanting to work with Devens, but like you said, he's kind of using Devens as a shield, isn't he? Yeah, and we can see why Devens in his original season was such a target and why he targeted basically himself very early on cuz it's just the player that he is. He's a kind of like a go big or go home type of player where most of the time he's going to get targeted before he can even get to the end. because he takes shots like this. You know, he take both does the shooting and one that does take the shots. And usually in the past it's worked out for him cuz he's had idols. He's been able to protect himself. Does he have an idol this season? I don't think so. so, he's going to be he's going to be in trouble if they start to target him. If they say, "Oh, no. We got out We got Aubry. We now we need to get out Devens." And then Devens won't be able to protect himself except for a fake idol that he planted, which actually might work. so >> I think it gives him one round, too.

4:26 One round, yeah. So, but he I feel like he's pretty good at challenges, but you know, if you need to get through Ozzy, I don't I don't like his chances that much, but you know, he's definitely going to get a third a third call. That's that There's no doubt about it after this season. >> he's locked it in. Did you hear the rumor cuz I haven't had much time this week. It's been a really busy week for me. and I think I've got Chris here asking if I'm under the weather. I don't think so. I think my voice in the morning is always a little bit lower when I wake up. It's been a big week though. For those people who don't know, I work in the travel industry. and it's not like the whole world isn't sort of going crazy at the moment with travel through Doha and Dubai not working and things like that. So I've been working around the clock to try and get something sorted for customers and clients of mine. So that they can reroute to get to Europe.

5:17 So it's been some long hours and maybe that's what's sort of what you're hearing in my voice coming into a early Saturday morning here. But It's early. I heard a I heard a rumor, Andre. I was I was online. I was I was looking around. They say that Devens was an alternate for this season. He wasn't on the season originally. And I'm like, "That's crazy, isn't it?" Like I mean, he's been one of the main characters, him and Christian, this season. And you just mentioned he's guaranteeing his spot for a third callback. Like who possibly could have been ahead of him? I think I think they said it was because Savannah and Rizo wasn't originally meant to be on the season, but then production decided. >> I know that Andy was originally cast on the season. Andy and someone else and Maryanne. So, Rizo took Andy's spot and Savannah took Maryanne's spot. It didn't make sense because Savannah's a winner, too. So, I don't know who Devens would have replaced.

6:10 Who's a bigger character than Devens? But I mean, Devens is a bigger character than most like Jonathan, to be honest. Bigger character than most people on the on this season. I think it there must have been some sort of consideration there. Like maybe he was because he was on the On Fire podcast or something like that. Maybe he was a little bit too involved in production. It's like, "No, we can't have Devens on." But they're like, "No. We have to have Devens on. Let's just boot I don't
