Jeff Probst - Survivor Crossover Season & More

00 Welcome back to the nullify take where we've got the TNT takes for you on Survivor more specifically today we're going to be talking about some really exciting news that I have just become aware of this is an article that must have dropped in the last couple of hours and it involves our main man Mr Jeff Probst and he is finally talking about International Survivor and he's acknowledging it which is the first time ever I've seen it correct me in the comments if you've seen it before I haven't seen them actually acknowledge International survivors so being one of the few channels that actually is an international Survivor Channel a channel that focuses on the international Survivor who's got an international host talking about Survivor you bet your bottom dollar I was going to get on a video to talk about the potential of an international crossover season because with Jeff Probst actually acknowledging that International Survivor is something that they've considered in the past and something that he's keeping an eye on and basically means that this thing is potentially a reality like I mean I remember him saying years ago that he was never going to do a winners at War and this is the reasons why it would be too difficult to do it but then we ended up with the winners at War now no rumor Indian no out there is that he wasn't the one that wanted the international season and it actually

20 Ended up being that the CBS Executives potentially are the ones that wanted it but you've got to ask yourself they've done so many big theme Seasons they've moved away from theme seasons and recent seasons and they're trying a new format of Survivor but what is going to be the next big thing for Survivor Jeff is someone that likes to continue to evolve the game he doesn't really like to go back to old school or what has been done before a great example of this would be Heroes versus Villains which was a slam dunk over there they've not done it and it's over 20 Seasons since that season and he's not gone back to do the same thing he's tried different things consistently trying to evolve the show and you've got to ask yourself now that we've had winners of War maybe Legends as a potential for a season to come in the future but a lot of the Legends a lot of the people that we deem as Legends because they've been on the show enough for us to deem them as a legend can you I mean can you really look at a one-time player that was excellent again exceptionally at the game and call them a legend I don't know if you can like you know let's use Dom Abate who came in played a really good game never came back after that is he a legend I don't think he's a legend I do think he's one of the best to ever play one of the best to never win but what are they going to do if they're running out Allegiance if they're running out of ideas for theme season what is the next big thing that the Survivor us franchise

40 Could do and maybe we're seeing early signs of this little seed that was planted in Jeff's mind here about the potential of an international crossover season so let's look at the article that I am talking about so that we're all on the same page I'm going to read and react to it at the same time we're gonna have a little bit of a discussion about this all right so the article that I'm talking about is the one that I've got up on the screen right now it is on ew it is written by a very familiar person to everybody that's in the Survivor Community someone by the name of Dalton Ross he normally has a lot of the inside information when it comes to Survivor and let's see what he has to say here year so over the summer CBS aired an addition of the challenge featuring familiar faces from other CBS reality shows such as Survivor big brother love Island and The Amazing Race titled The Challenge USA the season I only had Network reality stars facing off against each other but also acted as a feeder competition in that winners of the USA Edition would then compete against International versions of the show and something called The Challenge Global Championship so those winners turn out to be Survivor illums Danny McRae and Sarah Lucina the latter of which was also a champion of Survivor game changers with the challenge Going Global and putting players from American Edition against International ones one

01 Can only help but wonder if CBS or Paramount would ever stage a similar battle for its most highly profile reality competition series Survivor not only is Survivor still going strong in its 43rd season but it has spawned several successful International editions along the way the most popular edition has been the Australian Survivor which aired two seasons in the early 2000s but before rebooting in 2016 with Jonathan La Paglia the series has gained recognition for magnetic casting including people like Luke Toki Shawnee theater X and David gennard just to name a few and just to let those know that are not aware Luke Toki the people's Champion one of the biggest players to ever play an Australian Survivor he was on this very channel so go check it out I'll put a link on it in the description he was on this channel talking about the fact you know I said to him would you come back if there was an international season would you be interested in that and we had a really good chat for about 30 minutes or so about a potential International season and he's interested which I think a lot of other players a lot of international Survivor players would be interested in putting themselves against the best of the US so it's 10th season is going to be titled Heroes versus Villains it's scheduled to air in 2023 but another International entry has also been coming on strong of late and that's my home country Survivor South Africa has been on a tear ever since it

21 Returned in 2018 with its sixth season Survivor South Africa Philippines featuring fan favorites like palesta tal Tony tibbert and Vanner Uber the most recent installment this summer Return of the art class which brought back popular players such as chappies mariander Foss and Dino Polo Big Friend of this channel was another creative high point even with the show risking and sometimes avoiding Overkill by airing at four times a week whilst of Africa and Australia have the most celebrated of the current International editions there have been plenty of other noteworthy installments over the years including New Zealand Survivor NZ which is where I live currently which aired two seasons of 2017 and 2018. the point is with so many other Survivor players around the world outside of North America why not stage a US versus World season and that's exactly what we asked Jeff Probst thank you Dalton Ross thank you for asking him this to see if it's on his radar now let's see what Mr Jeff Probst himself is going to be saying I sounded like Jonathan there Mr Jeff Probst first off I watched the premiere of The Challenge and I really liked it says Jeff when asked about Survivor could follow suit with the international Battle Royale they do a great job producing that show and it was fun to see so many familiar faces I enjoyed it as well I really enjoyed seeing all those Survivor players play The Challenge and I'm a challenge fan

41 As well so it was cool I'm glad that Jeff actually took note of this as well and I could definitely take a note or two when it comes to how to produce and host entrances TJ comes in like a rock star now that's how you do it he does all right Jeff enough stalling back to your question keeping him honest says the host and executive producer we have definitely considered some kind of international Survivor Showdown but we've never figured out a way to do it that we thought would be fun for our audience and still loyal to the format the format that they do now is very different Jeff from what you used to do back in the day so I'd love you know if I was Dalton Ross I would definitely dig in as an interviewer and say what do you mean loyal to the format how would it change the format having International survivors player because you just let them play the format that you've currently got in the US and I don't think any of the players in Australia who play for 55 days would mind playing for 26 days it's half the time and I don't think any of survivors of Africa's players who play the traditional form into 39 days would mind playing 26 days there's a lot more twists and stuff which who cares you know the fact that probes and producers have even considered staging such a season should be music to the ears of fans who either enjoy the foreign editions or wish they had access to such installments a few seasons of Australian Survivor and survivors of Africa were briefly available on Paramount plus but before apparently having

01 Their proverbial approaches snuffed by the streaming services and a lot of us International Survivor fans we've got our tinfall hats on I'm one of them and we're thinking most likely the reason Jeff you're most likely the reason Jeff that it was removed before season 41 you didn't want the smoke there was a lot of positive tweets and publicity around the Australian and survivors of Africa season which was immunity Island I believe for That season the season before the last one that they had on Paramount Plus and while probs says that they have not quite figured it out yet for global domination to work there are cleared managers to Casting a season half filled with international players for one thing you already have a deep pool of personalities that have proven to pop on screen and yet have not already been Overexposed on these Shores it would be also complete with foreign exchange programs started with the U.S franchise Stars such as Russell Hans and Sandra Dias twine who went over to comply and Australian Survivor so obviously Sandra de s twine going over there you know a lot of people were questioning that in Australia they're like why do we have her playing especially the Casual fans I had a conversation earlier this year with none other than Shannon Gus who we did a podcast for those again I'll do another link so one for Luke Toki in the conversation we had and then another link to this channel if you're new to the channel where myself and Shannon Gus talked about the

21 Potential of an international Survivor season and who we would like to see play in such a season so you'll get a little bit more background info on people on there as well but just note that this was prior to return of the outcasts and survivors of Africa so maybe we would change a few of our opinions now that we've seen that season play out and there may be one or two additions from That season some of the people who came back and maybe impressed this more than what they did in the first time but again it was just a fun conversation and you know Shannon brought up and she's in the know-how she works close to Channel 10 and she's in Australia she gets a feel for what the Casual fans like and a lot of them didn't like Sandra Dear swine coming over you know they just didn't understand it because they're not necessarily it's a lot of people in Australia who don't funny enough the Casual fans who don't watch Survivor us which blows my mind but it's a good thing Sandra came over because again it just brings recognition to the Australian Survivor format and again Jeff would have known Sandra Diaz twine win Nina her daughter went to go play you know her daughter is rumored to be on the next season again as the Heroes versus Villains season so exciting times ahead for us International Survivor fans that really want to see this show kick off over in the US Survivor is so much about the Nuance of relationships and with language barriers that come with an international format we're not yet convinced we know how to do it prep

42 Tells ew but we'll with so many quality conditions from English language editions ready and waiting here's hoping he finds a way that to me sounds like a bit of a cop-out answer there's so many different you know it's about relationships and nuances and there's language barriers while Australia is an English country South Africa does have I think correct me if I'm wrong anybody from South Africa but we've got about 12 official languages but everybody can speak English everybody speaks English on the show and I know that some people will message and say they really find the ACC seems hard to understand well that's why you can do something like subtitles if you do have people with really thick vaccines but I think it would be very interesting to see we live in a global world you know we have got the world's gotten smaller everybody can travel around the world so to be exposed to different cultures and how people do things and how they would interact culturally I think would be such an interesting experiment to see play out on a screen so here's hoping fingers crossed that you know Jeff Probst have spoken about it Dalton Ross I thank you for bringing it up bringing it to his attention he's hoping that this means it's on their radar it potentially could be a thing in the future and we may see some of the best players in the international franchise make their way over to Survivor years sometime in the future and we can get this battle royale going let me

02 Know you guys what you think of Jeff Probst at least acknowledging it here in the specific article acknowledging the challenge does this maybe mean that he even may think about bringing people from The Challenge into Survivor I mean Survivor hasn't done that yet they haven't done the Battle Royale of difference of they haven't done the Battle Royale of different reality TV shows yet so they could still bring some of the best of the challenge some of the best of The Amazing Race some of the best of Big Brother put them against survivors best that could be another really great franchise they could go in that direction I do think that International Survivor it's going to happen and if Jeff Probst doesn't do it 100 I've had conversations with people that own the know-how for Survivor South Africa for Australian Survivor there is interest on both those camps to potentially do an international Survivor season so it's just going to be who's going to do it first who's going to bite the bullet and who's going to give the fans what they want let me know what you guys think about this leave a comment below please put a like on this video If you like this short form content if you like me talking about just little bits of news as it comes up and my thoughts on it how I know you like it and how I know you want me to do more of this specific content in addition to what I do with the podcast obviously each week is by you liking the video and by you commenting on it and obviously subscribing so let

22 Us know talk to you guys in the next podcast where myself and Jake will be reviewing episode 4 Survivor 43
