07 Welcome back to the nullifier take what i've got the tnt takes for you on survivor 42 episode four let's get into the top five talking points that stood out for me in this episode we start with talking point number one there's a massive fallout at the tribal camp as soon as everybody gets back from the green tribe from tribal council and daniel is in full damage control here he tries to tell everybody let's not talk about it tonight give me an opportunity to rest and sleep it's been emotionally draining and i'll talk to everybody one-on-one the next morning chanel on the other hand she's got completely different ideas and she wants to address everything immediately which i think makes chanel look a lot better than daniel in this case it's basic human psychology that if you're someone that tells the truth and you're being accused of something that you're going to be someone that would want to clear your name immediately and that is what chanel does here she feels like daniel threw her under the bus and she wanted to get it out there that she wasn't targeting lydia now she does tell us to the camera that lydia was her target but i think she does better here in convincing hai and lydia that she is being honest and upfront here than what daniel does also here another i mean if it couldn't go any worse for daniel another thing here is that daniel

27 Also admits to mike to his face that he was never his number one and that chanel was his number one which makes mike realize that he cannot trust the daniel i mean daniels burns someone that has been all over the place up until this point and he decides that he needs to find a new alliance member so that drives him into highest arms who he tells hi during this episode and a challenge that he loves him and that something like i love you brother and he wants to work with hi so funny enough prior to the season mike was someone who really loved tai as a character in the previous season and maybe he is seeing some similarities with the way hai is approaching this game hai does seem like he's got a good heart and that he's someone that is out there that won't betray and backs their people but i do think hires a lot more cutthroat than tai and mike could be a lamb lead to the slaughter in that alliance but for now that alliance between mike and hai i think is going to be mutually beneficial for both of them because they do need numbers and they will definitely target dan daniel and chanel here in the next round as soon as they can number two jonathan's target continues to grow the other tribes are very annoyed here at the reward challenge when the taku orange tribe wins 10 freshly cut fish and it's funny how the rewards have become so basic

47 In the season but because they don't get anything even just having freshly cut fish with nothing else delivered to their camp is a massive reward when you don't have food to begin with now jonathan is very quick to once again share with the rest of the tribe and say they're all working really well as a team and it's a team approach but the other tribes are not being fooled by this tory here calls out jonathan as a goliath and drea also mentions to her tribe that jonathan once again won this for them jonathan also makes a huge mistake here in saying how close this four people in taku are and that they're they've got this bond that is unbreakable and i think jonathan is someone that has played a lot of team sports in his life because you know as a team sport if you've got a really good unity and you're playing for each other you can actually beat a lot of people out there with individual brilliant players now jonathan also talks about how he's been watching this game as a kid growing up and he's always wanted to play it and he talks about some of the interesting and very full-on training regimes he had with his brother as a kid growing up and what his dad made him train so hard from a young age and that is now sort of benefiting him here in survivor it's interesting that his alliance members notices that he gave away how close they are but omar and

07 Both marianne seem to just be laughing at it and saying that this is such a jonathan thing to do it does not look like it's gonna change his position within that four whatsoever and i think he's very safe there and in fact i think jonathan as he mentions here he doesn't mind being the center of attention he doesn't mind getting all the heat and the flak coming his way when they get to the merge because that is how he believes he can add to his tribe i don't know if that's a winning strategy and if it's going to get him to the end to win this game but if he can go out there and win a lot of immunities while people are targeting him or looking at him it may give people like omar and marianne the space that they need to move around in the shadows and strategize and bring people over to this tight four i could easily see somebody like tori if she actually gets to the merge and she knows she's on the outside of that blue tribe she might want to work with an omar or with marianne or someone that is a part of a very tight alliance that can bring her and to take her game deeper at the end game so i do think there is room for this orange try to move and they're definitely my favorites at this stage and i'm shouting for them i really want them to go deep donkey point number three roxroy continues to alienate others in his tribe we have many scenes here in this episode where both romeo and tori talk about how roxroy shows some tendencies

28 Of a narcissist and that he feels like it is his way or the highway he always wants to show romeo how to make fire how to collect wood and similar to tori and swati and the rest of the guys he seems to be a control freak someone that needs to feel like he's the leader at camp and we know that in a normal season if this was a bigger tribe and they didn't need rock choice strengthen the challenges they probably would have voted him out a lot earlier in the game but at this stage they need the numbers and they need to stay strong so i think roxroy is getting a false sense of safety from this game and the makeup of this tribe where in other seasons he may not have been as safe as he is at this stage one of the interesting things is that both tori and romeo plays are wrong and they try to get that unity within the tribe but i do think roxroy is potentially when they talk about the fact that this blue tribe is not united and something isn't working really well within that tribe i think roxroy is that person and that he is difficult to live with the blue tribe does look like a hot mess going into the next immunity challenge here in this episode and that is going to follow within the episode going into this immunity talking point number four taku continues to steamroll through the competition here one of the interesting observations that lindsay made after they won the reward

48 Is that she can see how the other tribes are physically getting weaker and weaker as they challenge each other because orange have been winning some of the rewards and some of the food that comes with that the other tribes does not look like they're eating and i think in a season such as this where you really equal the playing fields and you make it something where everybody has to survive off the land like i said in previous podcast recaps it does make the provider of the camp a lot more important like if you had a joey amazing or aussie out there playing the season giving you fish giving you food i can't see how and i mean in joey amazing's case they he never loses really prior to merge but i can't see how those tribes would be losing any challenges and i think that people would want to keep these guys around because they don't get any food in other seasons you could starve for yourself and just have like one cup of rice and starve yourself but you knew you weren't gonna die or you would have the energy to get through the day so players like joey or players like aussie they become less important where it's different in the new meta of survivor and the way that the game is now being played but back to this point taku dominates jonathan is an absolute machine out there and he pulls the boat on his own in this challenge and marianne who's supposed to be pulling it with her i could see on the screen she was swimming to the left trying to get out of the way because how fast he's swimming the boat nearly ran her over in this episode so it's basically

08 Move marianne get out the way it's close between green and blue here in this tribe and green has to come from behind to win the puzzle challenge and ultimately sending the blue tribe to the tribal council now we know that blue as talking point number five is going to go to tribal council which sets up the battle of swati versus tory versus dreya and all potential of a woman's alliance has gone out the door at this stage earlier in the episode we learned that swati still wanted to make that move against draya who she sees as a massive threat in this game i understand why swati sees drea as this threat with an extra vote they don't know that she's also got the amulet advantage that nobody's aware of she makes the correct assessment here to go for drea but nobody else seems to be on that with her so both romeo and roxroy believes that they're in a tight alliance with drea and i think that drea is playing this middle game very effectively and she is physically the strongest female on that tribe as well so she's in a very good position where people want to protect her here this episode this accompanied by tori also once again realizing she's at the bottom this makes tori really scramble here in this episode because she does not want to go home she throws swati under

28 The bus with roxroy and romeo who then goes and talks to drea and lets her know that swati is coming for her and i think a lot of people here in this episode were surprised because the persona that's what he was putting out there is that she was the shy young teenage girl who was still finding herself and was out there for the experience i think in another season swati could have been a very dangerous player if she could have just gotten away with one or two more votes and if that perception of her being this innocent girl while she's cutting throats in the back end really came to fruition i think she would have been in a very good position i think swati probably with tori lost a little bit of agency in this game when they let zach go quite early on because maybe that is someone as we saw in the first episode that she would have had an additional number with and she could have worked she tried everything to deflect and throw it back on tori as if tori was the troublemaker but ultimately the tribe decided that swati needed to go and i do want to give credit to swati she does play the shot in the dark here in this specific episode so once again we're seeing that people are actually not afraid to play the shot in the dark this season and most of the time the people who are ultimately getting voted home they are the ones playing the shot in the dark but it's just not saving them that one out of six chants just don't seem to be strong enough to save them at this stage in the game

48 It does make you wonder when will we see a successful shot in the dark being played because i think it would have made for some exciting tv to see that being pulled off but with one and six chance it's not a very high chance that you're actually gonna get saved with that so all the votes go against swati she does go home here in this episode i think she gave it a red hot crack and at least she went out there trying to make moves take out a big threat andrea if drow goes very deep in this game and she makes massive moves like i predict she may be able to do i think we will look back at swati and say she took a shot it didn't work out for her but it's better than sitting back and not being remembered as someone who tried to win this game so swati i salute you respect you try to play the game you just got out played here by a few players that were onto you too quickly now when anybody gets voted out i like to look at who is the biggest winners and losers in this case for me with swati being out of the game the biggest winners without a doubt would be drea and probably tori because tori was going to go home in the spot so just getting to survive one more vote could mean that tori could get to that merge and then find her new tribe or new group of people that she would want to work with in the end game i don't think tori is going to stick with this group she knows that drea romeo and roxroy don't really see her as a part of that core alliance

09 So i could very easily see her move away from them drea is a big winner because swati had her eye andrea and she was going to target dress so having this person who were fake to you and telling you that they are with you and that they love you in the game and they want to do this girl alliance having that person out of the game rather than having them sort of lurk around in the background trying to plot your demise is a good thing for drea the biggest losers in this game you know is very difficult to say who we think would have probably gained by having swati around i almost feel like it could be romeo and rox because especially with rocks roy i feel like swati kind of did look up to him as a father figure in the game and she did try and work with him a little bit within this game even though he was frustrating to deal with at times i don't know if she was ever gonna go against roxroy and romeo and her target was clearly gonna be drea so potentially that was an additional number that they could have worked with romeo seems to be someone that wants to work with tori and maybe there is some potential for those two to work in the future i do think tori is in a situation where she can actually flip when they get to the merch i'm not too sure how it's going to work out for this blue tribe they do seem to be really divided at this point that is my top five talking points here for this episode now if you did like this and you want to have a little bit more of a deeper analysis of my thoughts on this episode be sure to join us
