Survivor 42: FINALE Recap Winner Reaction

0:01 Welcome back to the nullified tech where we've got the tnt takes for you for one last time on survivor 42 it's the finale episode and i'm joined with jake here today we're going to be talking about the finale episode jake it's been a whole week since we last spoke how's things been on your end it's been good i'm currently not having to deal with classes semester is over for my university so that's been nice but start summer classes in a couple days so it was a bit short-lived but yeah so it's quite before the storm quite before the storm exactly yep i'm really excited to talk about this finale i thought it was really good yeah i'm excited about it as well firstly before we get into it christian welcome to the live stream always appreciate you being here in the live stream when we're doing this as well for anybody else that was sort of waiting for the live stream we're a little bit late this week i do want to apologize for the inconsistency that we had this season when it comes to live streaming i know a lot of you probably the majority of you listen to this after we've done the live and we appreciate everybody that listens to this at a later stage and also listens to this on the audio next season we're going to lock in a time for when we're going to be doing these because what i wanted to do for survivor 42 it's the first time we've recapped the u.s season here on the nullified take

1:21 I wanted to bring international survivor players and to recap some of the episodes and give us a little bit of their experience on the show and i always find that to be extremely valuable and i know i always like listening to other podcasts where previous players come and talk about their experience on the show so i want to continue to do that but because of the fact that i have international players that sometimes come on that time is all over the place so for those ones in the future i'll probably pre-record it or it will be sporadically live as a bonus episode when i do get those ones but therefore i can actually lock in a time in the future like let's say for instance 10 p.m eastern standard time on a friday evening that's just an example myself and jack will be back every single week so you'll know this is the time that we do our normal coverage of the season i think that'll be the best way to do it jake moving forward so we've got that consistency because we really like to have people here in the life it's always great to have the back and forth with the live people and hopefully that will also enable some of you that haven't been able to watch it live this season to jump on and participate in the live conversation we just did our challenge coverage for the challenge all-stars 3 episode 4 and we had a lot of people i think about 50 people watching us live and taking part on that conversation and that's always a lot of fun so the more people we can get in the

2:41 Better okay that's my spiel for what we're going to be doing next season there is going to be a lot of content even though this season is done we're going to be doing some off season content and i'm going to have various guests on to talk about some survivor topics and i might even get you as the audience involved into some of the topics that we're going to be discussing where you can vote which topic you want us to talk about next i really want to get you as involved as possible but let's get into the finale episode there is a lot to talk about i probably instead of going completely chronologically for every single little thing that happened in the finale we'll probably talk about it more broadly i think going into this episode and also i've only had the opportunity of watching it once i normally watch these episodes twice and then go and take some very detailed notes but because it's a two-hour episode this week i didn't have as much time to get into that overall general thoughts of the finale we've now seen it twice play out in a similar way to the finale this season do you like the way that the finale is structured at the moment with the two hours and then also having that reunion show immediately after the show is played out no i don't i don't like the reunion show happening right afterwards because i don't know there's just something about like and maybe i'm just

4:01 You know nostalgia bias but just like seeing them six months later and jeff doing the corny little like transition into like los angeles and being in the studio and everyone's you know nicely dressed and you know with their families in the crowd waiting to see whose crown the winner just i just prefer that over the after show and i think as many people have mentioned i don't like that mike and romeo have to sit there in their sadness and disappointment after finding out literally two seconds earlier that they just lost a million dollars although i do like about the finale is that it's only five people it was happening for a while where they were having six people starting in the finale it was just way too fast paced too many st too much stuff to fit in just that two hours so i really like that the past two seasons there's been more time to actually show the workings of the vote yeah the relationship and how it sort of came to be that certain people were voted out in fifth or fourth before going into the final three it's interesting you mentioned that you know you don't like mike and romeo sitting there because we've always been made to believe that when it comes to the normal reunion show that people don't know if they're

5:21 Going to win or lose right so a lot of them would still be sitting there but i guess the big difference is that they don't have their family close to them there that they can go and hug afterwards and between breaks and things like that so they don't have any friendly face there close to them when they lose the show so they're kind of sitting there on their own and also they're so in game mode and this is the reason i don't like the reunion personally so quickly after the show has taken place last season i was like 50 i'm like oh this is new maybe i could be okay with this but the main reason i don't like it is because you haven't given these people any opportunity to take themselves out of the game and to actually think about what they just experienced to actually you know think about it strategically and think oh maybe i made a mistake there because jeff will ask them where do you think you won the game or where do you think you lost the game how do they know they are literally still in the fishbowl they haven't seen any of the episodes they don't know what other people said behind their backs how they responded to them so i really like to see players in a reunion react to the edit that they've received and also what was said but other people's behind their back for instance so they can defend themselves like jonathan comes to mind great example john is the greater because you know jonathan i think his like i don't even think he got a question in the end now that i think about it i don't think he was asked

6:41 A single question in the reunion but you know he was painted at certain points this season as this guy who spoke down to women all the time and it was like there was a very negative edit or a tin towards him on the show and i think he would have liked to have been able to address that on the reunion which he didn't get the opportunity to do yeah and we also you know usually see like they talk about a few things that didn't make the edit or like things that were maybe blown out of proportion a bit but yeah they don't have anything to reflect on you know what was on the tv yeah well let's get back into the beginning of this finale you know we just saw omar get voted out omar is very close to lindsay lindsey now knows that she is in the outs and she is trying everything to talk to different people she also realizes that mike has been playing all sides because he's promised marianne that he would play the idol for marianne but he also promised he would play the idol for her and then he's in the same episode going and promising jonathan that he would play the idol for him you know i guess let's look at it from mike's perspective here is he doing too much yes you don't this is pointless there's no need to tell them this i mean it maybe it's it truly is just

8:01 That he wants to make them feel better like lindsay clearly you know from his point of view we kind of know that she was playing it up but you know seemed pretty distraught and was like very defeated and knew that she was going home next and mike i feel like is just she's just a really good guy very empathetic just wanted to make her feel better and i feel like that they had kind of gotten a bit close throughout the game so you know he sees there's a friend who just wanted to cheer her up and he just took it a bit too far by making you know empty promise i feel like mike is that guy who wants to be everybody's friend and he's like i don't want to disappoint you i can't look you in the eyes and dash your hopes you know and it's interesting because he says that he does love lindsay he sees a lot of his daughter and lindsay he makes these deep personal connections like we said it's funny because i feel like we kind of called how the in-game was gonna break out a week ago we almost had it completely right i think the one thing i mistakenly called out was that marianne would win the last immunity which romeo ended up winning but the rest of it i kind of feel like played exactly we've predicted that romeo won the final challenge that's crazy well we'll get into the romeo winning that challenge in a little bit but i do want to talk about lindsay again here right so she's coming back to camp she's feeling deflated

9:22 She thinks that she's 100 going home next there is this advantage in the game they haven't seen season 41 so this could be a game-changing advantage right you don't know what this advantage is she's the only one that does not give up the hunt to go and find this advantage were you disappointed by some of the other players who just thought no we're not even going to try because i was a bit disappointed you're playing for a million dollars and you're going to be just sitting in camp was it that they were not trying or was it that they truly could not get what that word was maybe and i mean it's possible because they've been again it's so easy for us to sit here judge players that are out there playing this game because we haven't actually physically felt like what it would feel like to be out there for 26 days without food without you know getting rained upon and just you could see jonathan was falling apart you know and the guy is like a mere shadow of his former self when it comes to the end game yeah so i mean i was a bit disappointed that it was wasn't as competitive because i mean it was pretty obvious that lindsay was going to find it [Music] and it was very interesting to see marianne i think marianne knew what the word was but she just chose not to help them and she

10:42 Wanted lindsay to find it which could have been bad but it ended up ended up working out okay yeah so she does get lindsey does end up getting this advantage she doesn't know what it is until she gets to the challenge but at the challenge we find out that she's going to be able to go to each one of these stations that they have to run to and she's only going to have to untie one knot where everybody else i think had to do four or five knots so it does seem like it's quite a big advantage even though jonathan does end up dominating the physical portion of this challenge once again doesn't surprise us but when it comes to the puzzle that is where he starts struggling a bit and we get another wtf winner in the spot and mike coming out of nowhere hasn't won a single thing this whole season yeah comes to the end and bolts this puzzle quicker than anybody else very shocking yeah this is a guy that did not need to win this challenge he had an idol he did not and maybe he was like i want to keep at least one of my you know 15 promises so i'll win the challenge and i'll be able to play it for marianne and yeah what a what a great performance honestly like you saw at the end his knees were all bloody you know from like crawling on the wood wooden planks you know that was

12:02 Impressive and i read in lindsay did a exit interview with entertainment weekly she was so mentally drained that she did not realize that the puzzle was double-sided oh wow so she was like trying to put the pieces and she's like wait a sec why do none of these fit there's only four left and then she flipped it and it's like then she realized and it was too late mike had gotten a lead and now that's bad that's pretty bad that just shows you how deprived they were of food i mean let's talk about this a little bit right because they get to the end game here they're deprived of food they're hallucinating some of them are apparently in between challenges are fainting because they're that weak you know i listen to i know it's a it's one of those things where you either love him or hate him i like to listen to everybody so i do like to listen to rob as a podcast whenever i can i like to listen to russell i love like to listen to johnny fairplay i take on as much content sometimes as i can and i just wanted to listen to a little bit of russell's take on the season because he is very aggressive when it comes to the fact that this is only 26 days yeah you know i was out there for 39 days he's saying that in samoa and when they did both his seasons they didn't get rice either apparently

13:23 I don't know if this is true he feels like production is lying to us the audience at the moment and the fact that they're saying this is the toughest season and we've taken all these things away from them when that has been done before and he really thinks that none of these players for instance jonathan could make it in a normal season if they're starting to break down on episode oh sorry day 25 what is your take on that because there has been some really tough seasons in the past i mean africa i think a lot of people have said players they've said africa's probably and guatemala are two of the toughest seasons we've ever seen on survivor but this is being you know billed as the toughest season ever people are starving out there yeah i think it's just a buzzword to be honest i don't know if jeff truly believes that then i don't i don't even know what to say because he has experienced every season he should remember you know marcasis there were the forgot what they were called but those bugs were like yeah you know just so bad and you know africa there's freaking lions out right outside their camp and like and you're saying that then they had to drink infested water apparently according to lex they had to like go to

14:43 Where their water well was or like they had to go get natural resources or water that one of the i think elephants or animals pooped in the water and that's what elephants yeah how crazy is that like i mean and they got sick from it they got sick from the water yeah like fiji is pretty protected like i feel like fiji is almost like you're i don't know if you're maybe a little bit too young for this but there was a movie called the truman show like ages ago jim carrey used to play come on chris of course i know the truman shell come on there you go i don't know man i don't know it's a bit of an age gap between us here but you know like you know so it kind of reminds me of that where if you go to fiji it's very protected but yes okay they get deprived of food that gets taken away from them but it does make you wonder like how would jonathan do in a regular season or how would lindsay do i think lindsay would my opinion of lindsay is skyrocket like i still think i think lindsay comes back in another season she reminds me of sarah lecena i reckon she can dominate another season totally agree she gives me heavy serolysina vibes in all the best possible ways yeah she's got she's got a great and she's even better than sarah on the first time we you know remember sarah on the first time

16:03 Not fully in the game kind of struggled a bit but lindsay was already great and she's already went through it she comes back another time i think she would kill it yeah well okay so mike wins this right and like you said he probably didn't need to win the immunity at the spot it probably puts an even bigger target on his back because yes maybe people would have been angry at him playing the idol for himself because he promised he would play it for everyone else but at the end of the day i feel like you could kind of justify that to a way where you say listen at the end of the day it is a million dollars i understand i made that promise bad on me for making those promises but i had to keep myself safe in this spot so i feel like that keeps heat away from mike if he had to play the idol on himself but now the big question is which one of the three people that he promised the idol to is he actually going to play it for going into this next tribal council and he doesn't know this but he's actually going to hand marianne the win by playing the idol on her while she's got an idol in her back pocket or this is going to be what it seemed like was a really big piece of ammunition that marianne held on to and we'll talk about that in further detail later on lindsay on the other hand she's trying everything she's talking to everyone but it really comes down to the fact that mike is very close to jonathan what i didn't understand here and what i didn't see so

17:24 Well at this point is why did marianne and both romeo target jonathan instead of targeting lindsay because to me strategically it almost felt like it was the wrong decision because you don't break both mike and jonathan up there probably to the more physical people still left in the game lindsay is on her own if marianne pulled in i feel like lindsay would have stayed close with romeo and also marianne leading into the end was it really because marianne feared lindsay had a chance of beating her at the end and that she had a superior social game do you think that is what came into play because i feel like marianne was the was the king maker with romeo here in regards to who went home yeah i'm not sure what romeo was really doing this vote correct me if i'm wrong it was unanimous for this yeah so i mean at this point i think romeo was already confirmed to be you know the third place marianne was pretty much confirmed to [Music] i mean i think if jonathan wins the final four i think he takes marianne maybe i think he takes mike out well apparently according to his he was going to pull it under wood i'm pretty sure he would have taken he would have taken mike out because from what i've seen in the express that he's done he was the person who voted for mike

18:44 At the end to win he was he respected mike's game a lot and he thought mike played a game worthy of the win so i think that if he had an opportunity to choose who he goes to the final with he would not want to sit next to mike at the end i really think he would have made that move regardless and he would have looked like mike did at marianne as someone they could easily beat because in their mind marianne didn't really play the game until very late in the game so they thought that the jury would give them the vote based on who played the most i guess out in front game for the whole season i think that is what they thought the jury would take into account but obviously the jury didn't do that and we'll talk about that a little bit later on yeah if that happens i'm going to be honest i think marianne wins unanimously i think so as well yeah i don't think anyone i don't think anyone votes for jonathan or romeo i think if marianne has the same really strong final chocolate council that we saw where she proves that she was not you know had her head in the clouds she was playing the game and she had the idol that she didn't even need to play she was she had herself set up super well i think mike would even be like okay yeah you deserve it over like even though he was close with jonathan i think he still votes marianne devin welcome to the live stream and devin says the jury was undecided

20:04 On mike versus mary and we will talk about that in a little bit as we go into that final because i felt like the jury actually would decided to vote mike i feel like more people came in there thinking they were going to vote mike and mike lost a lot of votes going into that and we'll talk about it in a little bit we kind of predicted a few things in regards to how mike may be perceived at the jury end of the game some of them were right and some of them were wrong and what we thought going into this because obviously we didn't know any better but at this specific spot lindsay gets taken out they always had to go for either jonathan or lindsay because they were the two proven immunity winners you can only go on past experience of who has done really well at these challenges so you have to take one of these guys out or girls to have a better chance at the end game let's fly flash forward into the next round here they have to go and compete against each other and it's a very famous i guess immunity that they do bring in quite a lot where you've got to put balls into this metal frame it basically can be hypnotizing when you hear the samples you've got to catch the ball with one arm tight behind your back it is an equalizer sometimes when it comes to it because it doesn't necessarily mean that you have to be physically strong you have to be mentally strong and stay focused throughout this and we see mike do a brain fart early on misses it while they're warming up which was

21:24 A big fail on his bath marianne falls out and you've got jonathan and romeo going up against each other at the end the biggest guy against the smallest guy left in the game i think that if you went to the bookies beforehand and you had to put a bet on someone to win this mike would have been i'm sorry jonathan would have you would have made no money on jonathan but you would have become a millionaire betting on romeo did you see this coming or were you as shocked as i was because when i saw these two at the last two i was like jonathan's got this in the back he's winning this yeah you know you we look back at the last time a good old boy from alabama played in this challenge he won jt back in token sheen's this was the final challenge in that season that's somebody that you know you don't really think is very mentally strong jt he was able to pull it out and thought it was gonna be the same for jonathan romeo props to him man he never gave up he knew he was going to lose he knew he was going to lose the game but he still kept you know he just wanted to prove it to himself which i can really respect honestly yeah same zodo man say this is my first time here from the challenge podcast because i enjoy your personality what's up y'all thank you so much zuniman for jumping on the live stream here for survivor

22:45 Let us know if you're actually a fan of survivors one and if you watch it and devin saying i think the jury was pro lindsay to win i can see that i think that is why they made that move to get lindsay out early i think she had really good relationships and she played a very strong game she was strategically very sound and i think that a win for lindsay would have also been a win for omar who was the biggest strategic force throughout this game like if you couldn't vote for omar then vote for the person who was omar's right-hand person in this game which according to the edit looked like it was lindsay she was playing very closely with omar for most of this game and in fact you could even argue that she was the one behind the scenes giving him the ideas sometimes like for instance taking the idol from mike so drea couldn't steal the idol which i thought was brilliant from lindsay to be able to do that now in this spot romeo wins now we know someone's going to have to go to fire like it's going to happen the fire challenge is a thing now in survivor everybody is practicing fire and jonathan in practice apparently is getting these fires going within like 30 seconds yeah now you know what this reminded me of jake is i don't know if you've played much sport in your life but i've played quite a lot of sport now in new zealand and south africa we've got rugby closest thing to it would be american football

24:05 It's a context board right yeah i've heard of it yeah so when you when you play rugby or when you do a contact sport i've seen people throughout my lifetime when you go to practice they're putting in big hits they're an absolute champion they're hitting rocks hard they're going and scoring touchdowns and you're like man this guy's hot and then as soon as the game day comes those same guys are missing and i kind of felt like jonathan was that like he was the guy who was practicing hard but when he stepped to the plate he was gone yeah when i when i was in high school i played baseball and you know you would go to the other school and you would both warm up on both sides of the of the diamond and you would see like the other team they'd be like these big like six feet talls i only played when i was a freshman but so you know i was still really small and i would see these kids that are like six feet tall you know it seemed like when they were playing catch with each other they were throwing like laser beams back to each other i'm like we're about to get destroyed and then we get out there and they're like they it seems like they've never even played before when they get up to up to bat they like can't even swing i'm like okay and then we win is very deceiving and i felt like they did this they've done this before where like oh yeah they show the person who loses being good

25:25 At the fire tony blackos is a great example and when i said war that you see tony practicing fire and he can't get it going like he's the whole time trying and he's like trying to hide our bad ears and making fire and then he does end up beating sarah lucina when it comes to the fire challenge so it's funny it's definitely a misdirection and they have done this to us many times in the past i did enjoy it i was kind of for a second there i was wondering who are they gonna actually put up against mike because it also looked like marianne wanted mike out romeo you know it was a very interesting conversation that mike had to try and save both himself and jonathan in the spot he was being loyal until the into jonathan which i think showed his cards or maybe he just didn't want to go up against jonathan but he said hey if you had to put someone in against me make sure that it's marianne because marianne could probably take votes from you where myself and jonathan will split votes that was his argument to romeo did you like that argument that he had there and do you think it was because he truly thought jonathan would split votes with him or just the fact that he wanted to go up against someone that was perceived as not as good at making fires oh it was it was absolutely because he wanted he thought that marianne would be easier to be in the fire because from what we've seen jonathan is like the fire starter guy for them like he kept the fire going at camp you know every day so

26:46 I don't i mean i can see why mike was afraid to go up against him and was trying to do anything in his power to convince romeo not to put him with him yeah now zuma man here says that he's been a fan since season 24 ever since then went back to watch and re-watch most seasons the only ones i haven't seen yet is 1 3 11 12 and 14. three for me personally zunaman is a season that i really love because it's in africa i'm from south africa originally the gameplay is a lot slower but if you had to go back to a season i think in the first five seasons i would probably recommend three or two as like the two better seasons to watch in that bracket you've already seen some of them but yeah we always love having new fans here i think your story is very similar right jake you got into survivor quite late and then went to watch backwards as well right or from the beginning yeah i mean i jumped around i didn't watch chronologically once i watched the season but i jumped around and eventually i've seen all of them now and i love i love season three season three is one of my favorites of the older ones yeah definitely okay so we get the match up here they go into tribal and

28:06 Now romeo is going to make a decision were you shocked at all that he did end up saving marianne in the spot or was it in your mind a foregone conclusion and going into the fire making who did you have your money on were you confused by the edit did you believe jonathan could take out mike in the spot because one of the things that we i think i said previously i think mike's i personally went in with this thinking i had to edit in my in the bag i thought mike was the rick devons of this season i didn't think he was going to make the final yeah i was not shocked that romeo decided to bring marianne with him i think they sort of became close towards the end and he knew he didn't really have a have a chance so he just wanted to give his you know ally towards the end of the game a chance to plead her case and if i'm going to be honest i think i outsmarted the editors when i was watching i saw jonathan you know starting to fire within two seconds when they were practicing i'm like yeah he's losing because it's just it's just a misdirect i mean yeah so i had i mean i'll be honest in the moment i was like oh wait maybe he can't get it like because mike was struggling at first but then eventually was able to get it going but beforehand i was if i had to if

29:26 I would have chosen i would have chosen what actually ended up happening yeah so obviously jonathan ends up not making it here he looks very bemused you know he looks back at the and deep thought looks back at his podium we couldn't get this fire started couldn't get it done which to me was very interesting that he struggled in the moment because he seemed calm so i don't know what went wrong for him there when he was actually out there trying to make this fire for in his mind a million dollars but he does take it in stride and goes out respectfully you know he said he fought until the end and he goes and joins the jury in the spot which leaves us with the final three here of mike romeo and marianne now in that trio i actually had two bits of interactions with the audience of the nullified take over that week i put a poll up to say who do you think is most likely to win and 77 percent i believe said marianne's gonna win right so most people i think was very much on marianne will win this thing i also did a top five of who i think were the most likely players to win it so i had romeo as a definite can't win this show and i had both mike and marianne as i can see a way for both of these people to win it but marianne is edging it for me slightly going

30:46 Into this final tribal council did anything change in your mind or do you feel like this whole finale like i did coming into this you kind of knew what the end game was going to be you're just like we're just watching to see how marianne wins at this point yeah just based on the edit coming into this i would have thought like you did that mike would have been the rick evans and gone out in fire making and then it would have been marianne jonathan and romeo because i just feel like that's just he just she just wins unanimously in that's what i kind of thought was going to happen i was surprised to see that she actually was in the end with mike and i thought that he was going to put up a bit more of a fight and get some more votes but that's not what happened and marianne just had the freaking performance of a lifetime holy crap yeah zuru man here says i also did watch south african season seven island of secrets once they added them to paramount plus but they then removed it which myself and jake have spoken about this jake actually you know he's in arizona but he's a true international superfan of survivor he's watched all of the most of the latest south african seasons and then also a lot of the australian seasons zoodaman if you reach out to me on either

32:07 Twitter or instagram and dm me i will point you in the right direction i think i can help you out with that if you wanted to watch more of the international shows just let me know but yeah it was interesting for me here jake because marianne going into this finale really had one smoking gun in her hands and that was the idol that she kept she didn't play it and she waited in this tribal council for the right moment to pull this out and to say hey i have the only secret in the game you know when mike played that idol on me he didn't even need to because i had an idol that i didn't have to play and i still got here and i had a plan on how i was going to get here from final sex onward she acknowledged that she played a sloppy game she didn't play the game that she wanted to play because there were certain parts in the game where she couldn't find a foothold but she stayed in the game long enough to make a move when the move was presented to her and then that was enough in the jury's mind to really convince them but i also don't think it was just that i also think it was how bad mike did i think that in the history of the show there's very few players that have come into a final tribal council and have butchered their opportunity to win a game another person that comes to mind is russell hansen samoa and how badly he did at that final tribal council

33:27 I don't think mike was that level of bad let me just clarify but he didn't do good either i felt like it took him too long to realize that he was trying to take the moral high ground yeah instead of just owning up to some of the dirty moves he did yeah it seemed like kind of it's funny in the in the middle of the final tribal it seemed like mike was like maybe you guys are right maybe i did play a bit deceitfully and it's like you're just realizing this now like it just showed a lack of self-awareness and i think the jury was very off put by that he wasn't really even aware of how he was playing the game at points and kind of had to be told how he was playing and how it came off to others while marianne knew exactly how she was coming off to others and use that to her advantage yeah and you know what the thing is it saddens me the fact that like i mean i'm happy for marianne like i need to need to say that like very happy that marianne won the game as a fan right i love seeing fans go out and play this game and actually do what a lot of other fans have not been able to do in the past get to the end pitch a good case marianne was very self-aware of how she was perceived in the game

1:10:52 You know if you get a drea coming back 10 years from now and she's like in her early 40s and she's closer to that age that tony was because i think he was in his late 30s when he came in that's a lot of life experience drea can still add that will make her a little bit more aware socially of things but i really enjoyed her i hope that if she does return we see more of her quirky personality that came out towards the end because i really love that side of her and seeing her as who she is normally but i'll also not be angry like i would endorse drea for a challenge season as well because i actually think she could do really well on that similar to lindsay and then third if i have to look at everybody on the list here and this is going to be an absolute left field i love to put wild cards in there if you've ever followed any of my drafts but i would actually love to see roxroy return for another season i really enjoyed rockstar this season like i feel like he stands out to me he's such a i feel like he climbed into a time machine from like the early 2000s from one of those first 10 seasons and somehow he landed on season 42 when he was supposed to play season seven you know what i mean so and i liked him and i feel like his story really got to me he's got limited time left to have vision so hopefully he gets an opportunity to play with in the next four five or the next return this season

1:16:13 Every like i mean there's people who've applied for the show 20 times or something before they actually get on the show so also being rejected the first one first time does not mean that they don't think you can play this game in the future i mean they're now asking kids before they're 18 to apply for the show it's not because they're going to put kids on the show we've found out that out by the first two seasons it's not a junior edition of survivor but they want people in the pipeline for ten years from now five years from now they know ah you know jake's been in the system you know and you might apply once and be the guy who gets on you could be that 20 year old kid or the 21 year old kid that goes and plays this game but at the end of the day i'm sure that by you applying you put that as in the realm of possibility of you getting in there and i'm sure that there's a part of you haven't wanted to do that because you're like i don't want to be that fan that goes out there and gets voted out first but even if you do go out there and you're the fan that gets voted out first you're still out there experiencing something that you've always wanted to experience you're playing the game that you love you know and i think personally now that i've spoken to so many international survivor players and i've done interviews with them is that you cannot control these things man like you go out there one or two things don't shake up your way you do get voted out early maybe but i don't always unless you're a jack durham who clearly sabotaged himself in the game i don't think you're that based on the conversations we've had all season i think
