0:14 [Music] so [Music] [Music] [ __ ] [Music] welcome back to the nullify tech channel where we've got the tnt takes for you on survivor 43 that's right we're back myself and jake we're back to talk about survivor 43 jake it has been a couple of months how spring's on your end been really busy really excited for this new season it'll give me something to look forward to every week that's kind of my favorite thing about survivors like it gets me excited for the next week to come and just something to look forward to so this would be good yeah like you've actually had an off season i've not had an off season because i've been watching survivor 42

1:34 Straight into south africa straight back into 43 and also been doing a lot of other content as well so what is an off season for me at this point you've had like what has it been like two weeks or something yeah not even like i mean i guess maybe a week or two weeks with survivors of africa but it kind of feels like it's all blurred into one not really no i'm back into but i feel like that's going to make me game sharp going into this fantasy draft today i'm hoping in any case we've got christian gal back in the live welcome christian long time no see guys and also dolores welcome back to the live we just had dolores in our challenge usa finale as well we had two survivor players jake win the challenge usa spoilers that have not watched it yet yeah they represented the franchise really well over there all right so let's get into it jake we've got a bit of picking to do here now from memory you were the person who won the previous draft so that would mean that this time around you're also going to have the honor of choosing the order would you like to go first this season or would you like for me to go first this season i'll throw you a bone chris you can go first all right

2:55 All right i like that i like the fact that you're being generous and i'll go first so how this draft is going to work for those that weren't around when we did our survivor south africa draft it's gonna be a little bit different from what we did last season so last season it was just outright whoever had the winning player would win but this season we're gonna put some points to it so it's gonna be more interesting so when we're picking these players we need to keep into consideration the following and i'll put it up somewhere on twitter or instagram so people can know what the points are because i know some people get really into it and they want to know this but the criteria is jake for confessionals each confessional will give you one point this season for your player team challenge wins is three points but the team challenge wins has to be an outright win it can't be a second place win so it has to be an outright win to make it more interesting individual immunity wins will give us five points making the merge would give us five points a successful advantage play so it can't just be played it has to be successful as five points finding an advantage is three points votes against you is minus 0.5 points as a negative to you for each vote the runner-up for the season gets 25 points and the winner gets 50 points we also have some bonus categories this season the bonus categories for each one of these bonus categories you will get 25 points for your player

4:15 It's going to be most confessionals for the season most individual immunity wins for the season most advantages found for the season or least votes casted against them for the season would get you 25.8 and the reason that we're doing this is last season who would have seen marianne winning right like that came from absolutely nowhere obviously jake you picked marianne but i think you had a like mid table somewhere when you picked it yeah it's a bit of a fluke you know not saying like she did the right things at the right time but it meant she won the whole thing so we wanted to make it a little bit give a little bit more meat and potatoes to this thing i guess this season but i think you had mike as well so you probably would have won regardless because he was killing it that season in the confessionals true i think he had the most yeah so yeah i think so let's have a look at the draft table here bring that up for the season i apologize for those that are watching the video side of things it's cropped out the top of the heads here normally does that so i'm gonna have to go fix that after the season so it looks a little bit better when we are putting them into these teams but i do have the first pick and you know what i'm gonna be really messy this time around jake i'm gonna say we can pick men or women like normally we go men women men women this time no let's just outright let's see where your bias is are you gonna be strong on the men

5:35 This time or you're gonna be strong on the woman jake you know it's gonna be interesting because last season when we did this i think we were heavily leaning towards the woman off the previous season and not so much the main but not and ultimately actually won we were we were more we were more biased towards the women that didn't win and then yeah okay well you know what i'm going to take i'm going to take an obvious pick here because i've seen i've not been online all that often this season when it comes to survivor i normally don't like doing a lot of the preseason stuff too much and getting my hopes up on players too much before the season even starts but this player even for someone like myself that have not really been completely in the know-how of what's going on this season has been getting a lot of traction in its own night so i'm going to take him off the board in my first pick reasons for overnight is he is 30 years old so a little bit older i like people that have got a bit of life experience going into this thing he's a college admissions director something you probably know quite a lot about still being in college yourself but he's got great he seems like an all-rounder you know he's done a lot of back backpacking he's done hiking he's done outdoor camping he says that you know a lot of people stereotype asian males but he has broken the stereotype as he grew up because he was very physical did a lot

6:55 Of sports and things like that but he also has the brain so i like a lot of what i'm seeing in the preseason content he's a big fan he wants to play like adam klein in a way where he's like adam klein owned being the super fan he owned that archetype he wants to own that as well but he also wants to bring a little bit of that malcolm to the season so owen knight is going to be my first pick for the season what do you think of that pick great pick i think if i would have chosen to go first probably would have could definitely consider picking him he the thing i like about him is that he is not like the typical super fan like he i think people would probably assume he's a fan of the show but he's not like you know adam klein you know not obviously a super duper nerd fan you know he's not gonna i don't think he's gonna crash and burn at all like some super fans in the past have i just think he's really like i just think he's gonna get really get along well really well with people he just seems very easy to get along with down to earth guy yeah he's been working out a lot i know he said recently and apparently he was in the casting finals for david vs goliath so he's been right on the cusp right on the cusp of

8:15 Getting on the show for quite a while so i think he's chomping at the bit to get out there i think people would also potentially just under mis underestimate his physical ability like you don't look at him and say wow this guy's going to be the next challenge beast for the season but if he does sneak into merge you know potentially there is opportunity for me to get points for him on challenge wins these potential chances i think this guy's going to look for advantages he's clearly a player of the game he's probably going to get a lot of confessionals things like that so i feel pretty strong about this as a first pick at this point i'm glad that i picked him because you just mentioned that you probably would have taken him off the board if i didn't but we're gonna be going back to you now for the second pick and as i mentioned you can pick anyone that can be a male or a female which way are you leaning for your first pick of the season tough time throws a spanner into work when you're doing that and you're like oh wow you know i can't see anyone so yeah okay i think i think i'm gonna go with jesse he is top row all the way to the end i believe yep no i is that just him no just have a quick look we have a quick look here i think i think he's the second to last on the top row on to the right

9:36 No no to the right all right great yeah got you sorry i think that's him i might be here that's the problem when you don't have the faces right so we'll figure this out yeah it's kind of cut off so this guy's got a really cool story i think that his story is gonna be one that is like brought up a lot if he isn't voted out early like it's like a you know his story right the whole like used to be a gang member i saw that yeah very interesting you scott used to be a gang member now he like has his phd in political science which political science is like very relevant to survivor 100 obviously you can't you can't you know teach survivor or like learn how to be how to be the winner of survivor it's luck it's you know working on your feet out there making quick decisions but i really like this guy i think he has ex just he has a lot of life experience and i like that a lot i think that he's charismatic i think he's and i think that's going to mean he's going to get a lot of confessionals and he has a really cool story which is going to get him a lot of confessionals i can just see him i think he's just all around really good do we know if he's a fan of the show

10:56 Has he watched survivor match or well he said which past survivor play would you most play like i'm basically spencer or christian david versus glad if they got jumped into a gang at 15 and then also talks a little bit about thinking about i've spent more hours thinking about how people vote than sandra and boston rob so interesting but let's talk about you know his life experience that he's got i definitely had him marked as i think he was in my fourth place for the men but he was in that upper tier of men that i would consider picking and the reason for that is that to change your life to go from being in a direction and being in gangs in your life potentially ending up in prison or worse you know potentially it could be even worse than that to change your life around to actually go get your qualification and get a phd you know that is a tremendous journey that he's gone through in his first 30 years of living so i do think he's not a quitter i think he's going to be very strong he's not the biggest guy out there so potentially he may not be someone on someone's radar as someone that could win a lot of challenges early on it's just more going to be how does he fit in with everybody but having been in two opposite parts of life having been a gang member and now an upstanding citizen

12:17 In society i feel like he can probably fit in with anyone so i feel like his emotional intelligence will be really high so i do like this pick for you i think you've made a pretty solid pick in your second place i might just stay on the screen as we go back to the full cast here and then the back end i'll continue to put people into our tears and we can have a look at that a little bit later on so far we have gone only for men we've got both the men here chosen as the first but i am gonna take the first one off the board for the females but i'm just trying to think which one am i willing to take a punt on you know what i'm going to go for the risky one here because we've got a different point system this season and there's a lot more to it than just outright winning i'm going to go for noelle lambert i actually came into this podcast wanting to pick at third for the females and i'm going to put her above the others i like to change things around i think she's going to come in with a massive threat on her back being an amputee person you know someone that has the story if she gets to the end she basically wins right so her challenge isn't almost making a case at the end people are gonna say wow how she has come back from being in a motorcycle accident lost the leg had to learn a completely new sport she was a promising lacrosse athlete over in the us did really well and then had to go learn how to do 100 meters and then went to the i

13:37 Think she's already gone through the para olympics so far that's an amazing story so she's got a lot of fight and a lot of heart on her i can see her all over the pre-season content so i've just got a feeling even if she doesn't win she's going to be a big presence this season she's going to give me confessional points and i do think she's an athlete she wants to surround herself with other strong players she said and then vote them out towards the end so i'm going to go for noel lambert and my second choice what do you think of noah lambert i think that's a good choice i don't really like you know just saying this is ridiculous like saying that somebody you can't see them winning because the season hasn't even started yet but you know just based on what i've seen i don't know about her potentially being able to win but in terms of like the new rules for this game that we have definitely think you know similar to jessie has a really cool story that she can talk about a lot and i think one of the funny things i saw in one of her videos is she said like yeah my leg is probably going to fall off a few times during challenges that's just that's just how it goes i just thought that was funny and i think that if it's going to happen that often then i think let me tell you let me tell you how

14:57 She potentially does get to the end right one of the things that was encouraging for me when she had a pre-season content was that she said i don't want anybody to look at me and feel pretty for me so i think that's also what she's going to tell people in the game like listen i'm here to play the game i understand i've got this you know thing here that i've lost my leg but if i get to the end please don't vote for me because of this please vote for me because i was a contributing person in the season maybe she can turn the narrative where people are like well she's not going to ask for the pity votes at the end she doesn't want our pity so we can vote we're going to be able to feel free to vote based on ability alone because that's what she wants to be treated and because of that mindset maybe she can get past the fact that people will see her as this huge threat to get to the end and when and being a foregone conclusion just because the story is too big that's what i'm hoping for in any case the fury tiger wolf here in the life is saying hey chris and jake everyone greetings from the uk hello ferry tiger welcome back to the live there's a few players that most of the players will be terrified of letting get to the end because of their stories and you know we've got the gang member jesse the previous gang member i should say already selected and then also noel here in these spots leaving me with owen and noel so far from my number one or two pick again jake we're gonna come back to you can pick male or female we're keeping it open for you to go in any direction here for your second pick who

16:17 Do you gravitate towards for your second pick i think i'm going to go with is it ellie ely i think it's ellie yeah i'll go with her this is someone that i you know i've kind of browsed you know read it a little bit since the cast has been released this is someone that is getting a lot of hype so i'll write on that hype i guess because yeah you know i have been so busy i just i haven't been able to research too much about these people let me tell you why i'm why i'm really gutted because even with you having done limited research on this right you've picked the person i had as my number one female pet coming into this and i took a gamble yeah to go for noel because it's like jake has been sleeping on the cast he doesn't know what's going on and then it backfired in my face right now because you've got a person that i think is going to be strong she's 31 years old again but a life experience she is someone that her friends compare her to michelle fitzgerald which is not a bad thing because apparently she's got that social game when she's talking in her videos i can see a little bit of michelle fitzgerald in her she's got that little bit of charm about her a very disarming

17:37 Child not a threatening charm which i think is going to be something that people are going to gravitate towards she studied clinical psychology but unlike tori from last season she doesn't seem over confident about her abilities to psychoanalyze people out there so yeah i feel like she's a little bit more of a grounder tory tori obviously would have gotten us so many points if we had a team for last season because she was all over the all over the show and we'd love to see her come back just because she was a larger-than-life character but she wasn't going to win the season now ellie i don't know how entertaining she's going to be that's why i didn't pick her first because there's other points that we necessarily want to go for but can she win the season is she potentially my winner pick i think she may be my winnipeg pre-season i think she's very solid yeah i think this is a bit of you know departure from my philosophy of drafting jesse i think that ellie is more like kind of the safer pick for like she's probably going to do really well she just has that kind of feel to her you know there's like what's an example i think like nick wilson for some reason like before dave versus goliath i was just like that guy just has like a wendell is the perfect window's a great example yeah he's just like he just seems like a winner like before i remember before ghost island that was the first season i watched

18:57 Live i was just like me and my and my family just were like hey let's like draft someone who we think is gonna win and i was like i don't know wendell he just like has the kind of feel to him that he'll win i kind of get that from her like there's nothing like really crazy that stands out it's just kind of everything is like yeah it's all good you know i just kind of get that vibe from her do you agree yeah no 100 agree i think it's a very good pick i feel very confident about it i'm i'm so in so many different minds about what i'm going to do next because i can go to the obvious right you did throw a wrench because i thought i would be able to go back to back with the two female picks here and then i would have ended up because i had no l a little bit lower i would have ended up with two of my top female picks in a row there so now my thinking is do i go for my last outstanding female pick that i think could do well but she is risky because i can also see it potentially blowing up in her face or do i just go in a different direction here and pick one of the men i was impressed with in the preseason and you know what i think i'm gonna go i'm actually gonna go with the man that i felt pretty confident with in the preseason i'm gonna keep it men women mend at this point but i'm gonna go

20:17 For mr james jones is my next pick so just fearful of leaving him on the table fearful i was picking i was gonna pick i was gonna pick him next so you did the right pick he was gonna be my next relief here so he's aged 37 one of the older guys on the tribe you know funny enough you know only not even 48 but he is getting up there he's an event planner he's someone that looks up to sandra because it was her strategy of anyone but me but he sees that he wants to bring some controlled chaos to the game like a russell so that gives me or more control i should say than russell so that gives me a little bit of hope that he's going to be entertaining to watch if nothing else he's potentially going to create some chaos around camp now what that looks like i don't know it might get us some screen time he seems extremely strategic and he won a chess competition when i think he was like 12 or 14 or something like that so you look at the guy he looks like a grunt he looks like a workhorse but he clearly has that intelligence there that if he keeps that under wraps and people don't know about his ability to potentially be a strategical threat out there i do think this guy could go very deep in the game and most of all i really like this vibe in the videos he just seems like a really interpersonal guy that you would get along with so he's not that stereotype chess person that you're not going to get along with because they're too nerdy

21:38 For instance i also play chess when i was in school so i get it you know chess people have to yeah chess people have got a you know we got to back each other and like you said there's so many different moves in chess you got to think so many steps ahead i think it translates really well to survivor so i want to see what he does this season i'm glad i got him here because it sounds like you were gonna go for him as well yep he honestly like thinking about it now i'm like wait why didn't i pick him first i think i yeah i kind of forgot like as you were in the middle of picking i was going through the cast i have another tab open and i was like okay who's who are some other people that kind of stood out to me and i saw james and i was like why did i not pick him first he i really like him as you said just really good vibes just from the video if we're going off just off people who have been really good at chess spencer bledsoe played twice got fourth and third place so clearly chess players kind of know what they're doing so for just going off of that then he's probably gonna do really well i think he's a really like just good speaker i think that he would he's probably gonna get quite a bit of confessionals if he's doing well in the game which i think he will and [Music]

24:19 Really get the vibe from her of like older woman probably not gonna do too well like that just never really hit me with her i think she's just seems very easy to get along with it just seems really smart i mean she's a nurse nurses are you know they're work horses they i just i just think she's really well balanced i and if even if we're looking at you know the past two seasons the older women haven't done they've done pretty well i mean heather managed the finale she was one fire challenge crazy fire challenge away from making it to the final three which there's been some conflicting reports of like maybe she could have even snagged a few votes so and i honestly i have more faith in lindsay than i do than i did with heather so yeah standing by yeah i could see i could see that i could see her potentially being physically more up there i mean heather yes definitely struggled throughout that season so i definitely can see that i just looked at it i just looked at lindsay though when she was the person i mean obviously the fact that she's been applying for 20 years since she finally got on the show that's heartwarming you know i'm glad that this is something that has happened for her and people that try for so many

25:39 Seasons you know you want to see them succeed and get onto the show but i just didn't find anything i was gonna root for her this season i just couldn't find anything where i was like yeah i'm gonna get behind this woman this season like i'm not like again if any of the cars listen to this please don't take it personal we're making very quick judgment calls based on you know appearance and a few minutes of you talking on a video and giving us a little bit of information on paper chances are one or two episodes and i'm gonna absolutely love you and i'm gonna hate everything i just said about not finding anything to root for you for but i just feel like the stereotype of the mom for me it's kind of like overplayed at this stage so i'm just like yeah i don't know if i'm gonna get behind her that much for it i don't know if the stereotype of the mother figure in the tribe even has its place anymore does people really want to be mothered out there just like the provider has become less of a concern for people they're out there to play a strategic game and will she connect with people that are a lot younger than her efficiently i don't know but she does have a career that she works in which is being a pediatric nurse so she you know needs to deal with different people from all walks of life consistently she's a carer will her career and being a carer be something that will make her put other people ahead of her in the game will she actually be ruthless enough to get to the end i don't know i just don't know best case scenario for her she ends up like chrissy from heroes versus villains triple h

27:00 I never get it right but anyways worst case scenario she's like chrissy i mean best case no worst case she ends up going early like the older lady who went really early last season in the tribe with when it was between her and marianne i forgot her name was moira mariah yes mariah yeah worst case she's like a mariah you know what i mean so i just didn't i wasn't gonna pick her this high personally but let's see where it goes let's see where it goes for the season you know i don't want to say she's definitely not gonna make it because i mean we're making some very judgment big judgment calls off very little information at this stage let's go back for the picks and just to recap on where we're sitting i've got owen noel and who's the last person the man that i picked james right yeah so those are the three i've got and i've got another option here and i'm going to continue to go for the men dare i say it this season when i was looking at the preseason stuff a lot of the men stood out for me more than the woman like last season was the other way around but there's a few men that i was like i just feel like this person is going to be fun to watch i love the characters i love big personalities so i'm going to go for cody aschenmarker

28:20 For my next person in the list because he just had such good vibes you know like i just enjoyed i kind of saw a little bit of who's the surfer guy that played in triple it was a triple h the one there yeah kind of a little bit of a devon i see a little bit of a devon but more so more so the i'm thinking of a different season must be thinking of a different season here i've got my seasons mixed up [Music] but i can't remember him now he had like long hair as well very surfery type of guy in any case so but he's got good vibes for me i like the fact that he does seem like he's going to be good at least talking because he's in sales you know so sales is all about building rapport it's all about finding out how you can be of assistance to other people and manipulating people to a certain degree to believe that you're there to help them when you're trying to get a deal done and paid commission so i do feel like you can add that cut throatness to him and i just don't know what it is about him like he looks like he's physically capable you know and he seems like he's just going to be a fun guy to have around i think that is a first of all i think that's a good pick i was definitely thinking about maybe picking him with my next pick so i think we're it seems like we're kind of on the same wavelengths throughout this

29:41 With cody i said this i said this to myself after i watched his video he kind of reminds me of like fabio but also weirdly enough roxroy he kind of reminds him because he's talking about like providing i think he mentioned that quite a bit in his like interviews and that kind of reminds me of rockstar from last season so first of all i want to say i think it's kind of i like that survivor is kind of like you know they're casting some super fans and then also some people that like you know they want they're here to play and to win but like you know they enjoy some of the other aspects of the game be interesting yes i just want to say i really like that second this guy i think could potentially kill it in the confessionals i really like his vibe i really like it if he's like relevant to the story of the season he i think he could run away with the confessionals because he's just very he's just very entertaining even if he's not really saying anything that interesting i just kind of i just like his way of speaking yeah and he's a sales person man that's what sales people do you know yeah the person

31:01 I was thinking about just to let you know and i'll let you go on in a second the person i was thinking of was sebastian from ghost island and i just couldn't i couldn't get it like who does he remind me of the sebastian but maybe a little bit more for charismatic or more social sebastian you know and in some ways but there's a vibe there's something about him that just immediately reminded me of him and also i think i think you might have mentioned he seems very in shape yeah and i think he could definitely like especially for these team challenges could he kind of reminds me of jonathan in that sense not i mean obviously jonathan is just a crazy specimen of a of a man but like you know there aren't really any there isn't really anyone that like stands out super much physically so i feel like he's probably going to be one of the top performers in the challenges yeah i mean he's got that bald like an aussie type of bulb maybe he's able to do quite a lot of different things but you know the person that he looks up to the most this malcolm he says that mike malcolm was likable because of his physical skills but he was still a humble player and through a skill set played a very sit back and let other people play well as i say the ability to sit back and sometimes play the role of the full to fool the people around them and that's something that he thinks he can do as well in the game so there is a little bit of strategy to him but i agree

33:42 As i watched him and kind of learned about him i learned that he had he was born with cerebral palsy and then he was told that like he wasn't gonna be able to walk and then now he's like super in shape like i mean just look at him i mean he's just very good build maybe the most athletic person this season right probably strength-wise yes yeah definitely and also i learned that he like identifies as neurodivergent so like i think that's the way i've heard that term is like more so for like people on the autism spectrum but i don't think he identifies as autistic i think it's more like he feels like his brain kind of works differently than most people and i just i kind of like that like i feel like you kind of have to think a different way in survivor like this is a very weird game this is not like something that just like going through life that you can like you know what i'm trying to say like i get what you're saying there's certain things that you can relate to back in normal life because certain things where you're like oh this seems like normal life but then in normal life people don't lie to you all the time

35:02 Exactly to get ahead like it's so it is different and you're starving and yeah you're right like i mean there's a reason that certain players that have been the most successful in this game they think differently to others that's why they stand out so this could either be a very good thing for him or it could be a very bad thing where he struggles to relate to people around exactly that's because he's but he's got fitness instructing experience i believe so as a fitness instructor you have to work with different peoples at different levels of their fitness they've got different insecurities about being in the gym and stuff like that so you've got to be able to relate to people at a certain level so maybe that'll help him but it is interesting he's a he's i had him in as like right in the middle of my guys because he was like an enigma for me he's like which way is he going to go but he could be a high risk pick but he could that could pay off who knows you know like he's physically capable he's an outdoorsy guy he seems charismatic from what i saw in the in the videos that he was talking so and he's overcome so much so he's not gonna be a quitter he's gonna be out there fighting really hard and i think his tribe's going to rely on them in the early stages who's in that blue tribe let's have a quick look i think james lindsay so seems like we've already picked that tribe we're leaning we're leaning heavily towards this blue truck but it's not as bad as last season when i think we were taku was like completely left out we snubbed they were like they ended up being the best tribe
