Survivor 43: Episode 4 Review

0:03 Foreign [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] welcome back to the nullify take all the TNT takes I should say on Survivor 43 we're back I'm your host Chris my co-host Jacob is here with me we're back to recap and review episode 4 for Survivor 43 and Jake I'm excited it's the end of my week I'm a little bit ahead of you it's Friday evening not to rub it in too much but I'm getting ready to wind down yeah you know I actually it's basically my weekend too Chris so

1:23 I don't have anything going on tomorrow so we're good that's awesome that's awesome well you know I can't think of any better way to go into my weekend than to have a conversation with you here let's you know dissect and jump into Survivor 43 it's been a fun season I think that the fun continued this episode and there was a lot of controversial things that happened this episode that I'm very excited to talk about to hear your opinion about some of these things I want to start off right from the bat you know and it's going to be a bit messy because it's the end of the episode and we'll talk about how Lindsay got voted out but one of the things I noticed online is that people were not very happy with the fact that a fourth woman in a row got voted out this season is it misogyny Jake is this what's happening this season listen I don't think that any of us have any sort of clue what actually is going on what actually is happening who knows who knows maybe they are the most misogynistic contestants survivors ever seen but based off what we've seen on the show all of those women had perfectly good reasons to be voted out so I am inclined to say no sue me Chris is for saying that but I don't I don't think so you know I'll be yeah you know it's unfortunate

2:43 And again I agree with you we don't know we're not out there yeah very well could be but for us you know accepting the fact that it could be misogyny I think people who are claiming and shouting that out right now should be thinking well maybe it's not we don't know everything yes it doesn't optically look very good I agree I actually went back to have a look at when last in the history of the show have we seen four women being voted out back to back and I'll give you a guess I know you're a bit of a Survivor but you know you kind of know come on yeah well done I actually I actually saw somebody post that on Reddit I'm not I'm not that knowledgeable I don't remember you know the boot list of every season man I should have just watched Reddit I went I went down the Survivor fan Wiki every single season I went back myself and researched this was like when last did this happen I had to go all the way back to Survivor caban season 17 and that's the last time we've seen four women get voted out back to back and you know it's the first time it's happening in this new era of Survivor so we'll talk about it we'll get into everything that happened and I agree with you I think that there were definitely cases to be made for why each one of these women were voted out of field of worse for Moira I really just feel like she didn't have much of an opportunity to find her feet that's the one I find yeah that her vote out is the one I find the most puzzling because their reasoning of her being weak and challenges just did not

4:04 Really line up with what I saw they were looking for a reason for a reason yeah it kind of seemed like it hey Christian welcome to the live as always glad to have you here and to participate as we go through this episode but let's start off right at the beginning you know Cody goes back feels really bad about the fact that he had to vote NECA out you know and he's a bit down about it and also the fact we spoke about this last week that they don't have Flint food or fire they've lost two challenges in a row and it's time to really get back on the saddle get the saddle on the horse get back on it and start winning some stuff and it was interesting you know throughout this episode we get to see again a lot of Cody like at the moment it is the Cody show because he is dominating not only just the points for us and thank goodness I've got this one Beacon of light on my team at the moment that has given me points because the rest aren't doing much and he's really just delivering he must be at this stage the production favorite really and with the personality that he has the can-do attitude that he has says I'm not surprised oh he's absolutely their favorite I think he and Carla are like their shining stars maybe and Jesse maybe as well is in there no he's awesome I love Cody he is exactly what I thought he was gonna be like he I feel

5:24 Like you know there was a wide range of like what Cody could be when we looked at him in the preseason and I feel like this is this is exactly what I felt like was the best case scenario of like you know kind of chaotic but also kind of calculated and like things just kind of seemed to work out for him and he also he just he gives killer confessionals he's just you struck Gold by drafting him 100 Jay welcome back to the live stream and Jay says he has to be he's great and dare I say for the new era of Survivor do we finally have someone that is actually at that potential and I know we're talking very early here very early I mean he hasn't made the merge yet it hasn't gone like I mean he could still be a pre-merge boot at this stage we just don't know it could just be a very over edited pre-merge boot but you know do we finally have our next coach our next Aussie our next Rupert you know like when last if we had like a character on Survivor where you're like man I'm gonna remember this character 10 seasons down the road I feel like Cody is one of them yeah I feel like the last person we've kind of seen with that is probably Christian from or Angelina from that same season man I've got a hot

6:44 Take on Angelina I was thinking about this week actually and I was like I saw Angelina for some of the reasons she popped up on my Twitter feed and I was just thinking is Mike gabler the Angelina of this season like because he's getting a massive hit it right and he's not self-aware Angelina wasn't self-aware the first time she played but I loved watching Angelina so much and I'm actually enjoying watching gabler annoying all of his tribe mates like in this episode here he goes to put Palm France onto people that are sleeping yeah not thinking he's going to annoy them I'm sure in Survivor like every minute of sleep that you get is like bald because it's probably so difficult to fall asleep while you're freezing you're out in the cold like and someone comes and wakes you up I'm not surprised Sammy and Elliot getting more and more annoyed by him but I kind of think that Mike gabler who by the way you mentioned Carla's probably the second most edited Mike gabler is the second most after Cody but then Carlos third so I feel like he's probably the second favorite yeah but I think production loves my gabler I think they I think they just love bringing like an agent of chaos for all the wrong reasons into the game listen I think the casting this season has been great I think and every tribe has a really interesting Dynamic going on and we finally get to see more of the blue tribe because they actually

8:04 Lost yes so really good to see yeah this season is really good I think gabler is definitely sort of like Angelina he has that upside of like just and especially because he's already kind of losing it and it's only like day six like he or day eight or something right now once we get to day if he makes it today 26 he's gonna be cuckoo yeah it's gonna be awesome but as long as he doesn't get to the point where he's just like a zombie he doesn't have any energy that's the problem Jay he's saying no we have our first Cody Lafayette lad he's his own Legend and I know Jay like where's fans we're guilty we like to compare people and I don't mean like he is like exactly like Aussie or he's exactly like Rupert because Aussie Rupert and Coach they were all their own person but I think that Cody has the potential to be like a legend of that status like a character of that status where if he doesn't win we're gonna think and know him for quite a while and I'm here and we're going to talk about this but I'm here for the rivalry that's potentially going to develop between Cody and Carla and we'll talk about that a little bit later on because that could be promising throughout the rest of the season it could be very enjoyable to see how things are going to play out but we stay at the Barca

9:24 Tribe we spoke about gabler Annoying everybody at their tribe you know gabler goes to make a fire and him and Elliot just like starting to hit but on that because gay was annoyed with her he knows she's coming for him she doesn't know that he knows she's coming for him but she's annoyed with him as well and it's just he's saying that they need to take care of Ellie if they don't do it they're going to regret it because she's a strong personality she's going to do and play her own game so Dura say does Ellie still have a potential to go to go deep in this game and potentially even win it because I feel like she's still getting a pretty solid edit even though she's not in the know by Gabe was saying that could it be foreshadowing I think that this it could be foreshadowing that they don't lose until the again until the merge and maybe Ellie finds a crack and is able to actually take them out kind of similar to 41 where you know the blue tribe tried to throw a challenge to take out Erica and DeSean had a confessional where he was like man if we which you know didn't really make any sense because we hadn't really seen anything of Erica but he was like if we don't we got it through the challenge she's a snake she's I gotta take care of it now or else it could come back to bite me later and yeah definitely

10:44 Did maybe I'm reading too far into it but well I'm fearful if they if they don't take a shot at either an alley or a Janine and both of those girls like I said it here in the previous podcast even though they're being seen as out of the numbers not knowing what's happening in the game I actually do think both of them are very capable players I just think that they're overconfident and overconfidence makes you sometimes not think strategically in the right way and you make stupid mistakes where when you look back at I'm sure at least looking back at it and saying of course Sammy was playing the middle ground of course Owen is playing the middle ground here Owen being the big you know Enigma in their tribe of where he's going to go and I will say one thing I was shocked to see that Owen did not get a single confessional this episode and that makes me a little bit worried for him because I was a little bit bold last week and saying I could see a owen win potentially I think he could win this thing but it's not very often that we see especially in Survivor us where the winner doesn't at least get a confessional per episode we you know kind of looping back to your first the very first thing you mentioned we kind of only see that with women with female winners where you know I believe like Sandra one of the most iconic players we've ever seen in Heroes versus Villains had four straight episodes without a confessional and

12:05 Heroes versus Villains which is just crazy and I mean you know Erica had plenty of no confessional episodes yeah we just don't we don't see it very often and it is a bit worrying especially because you know this was like the perfect episode to just kind of just kind of give us a little reminder like hey I'm Owen I'm in the middle I kind of know what's going on with both sides I'm in the I'm in the no with both I can't go either way you know I'm sort of leaning back semi swear at this stage because Sammy at least got some confessionals he you know spoke about the fact that he's sort of you know he's enjoying on the sidelines he gives a smile to the camera when Ellie and gabler has there's a little bit of an argument at Camp he's kind of like I'm the one that's got all the knowledge I know that these two are you know sort of coming at each other I'm sort of egging it on so I feel like he's in a good position only thing I'm fearful of semi and again I'm always going to say this and I'd love for send me to when I'd love for him to become the youngest winner to ever win this game the only thing on fearful office is that he gets overconfident at some point and that's going to be his downfall because he is very confident yeah he is but I think it's actually pretty tame at the moment because you know he's hiding as well you have to be confident

13:25 In your in the game you're playing you can't just constantly be like someone who will be we'll be talking about on the blue tribe that Lindsay but I think we you know especially me red way to into his pre-season I think we can kind of Fairly say that like he's not at that level of like you know that full of himself I think he's just playing it up because that's probably how he got cast is you know they saw this really arrogant really like strong you know young guy that could probably pass for being a bit older and they just rolled with it and he probably noticed like oh the more I play it up the more that they like it so he probably just kind of couldn't get out of that mindset in the preseason but now that he's playing the game I think he's like a bit more tame well I mean hats off to the guy he's the stud of their tribe at the moment he's the one that's really like carrying a lot of weight from a from a physical brute strength and athletic ability side of things I mean again even in this episode he took on some of the clutch roles within their tribe I do want to go back to the live here just to quickly acknowledge some of the comments Christian's saying Cody this is Carla merge battle mice Jay also says here the Janine is a lot of people's pre-season winner pick no one should sleep on her

14:46 I'm not sleeping on her I think she could be dangerous if they don't nip that in the butt she could definitely I just wish we kind of got more yeah because all we really know is like she's with Ellie she wants gabler out because of the idol yeah at least getting all the Strategic stuff she's getting all the Strategic confession and confessions all everything is an Ali's Viewpoint at the moment and again that comes down to is it because Janine's not good at expressing the plan or what she's thinking because some people are not good at that Ellie is phenomenal at confessionals we can she can give her that she's really good at that she is entertaining to watch you know so I'm going to be entertained with Ellie regardless if she wins loses whatever happens I'm going to be entertained seeing how it plays out yeah same I just kind of wish you know we kind of saw more like the individual relationships like we haven't really seen like what do Sammy and Janine think of each other I know that Sammy kind of feels like oh the girls are being too confident but like how do we what is what does his differing opinions on both of them you know I kind of wish we saw a bit more of that I think she's definitely I believe she got zero in the past episode with Owen I want to say she has the least

16:06 Amount of confessionals food Janine's got a total of six confessionals which is you know she's probably on par with Erica at this point yeah I don't have to list in front of me to see how many no confession episodes she's had but she hasn't had a lot of confessions in that specific tribe but a couple of more of the comments here Jay saying I was thinking about this before Jake men winners tend to get a bigger edit than women winners which we both agree on also it was Sammy's birthday yesterday I guess he's turning 23. yeah happy birthday to Sammy I believe he'd be 20 years old now and then Christian also saying Michelle is back on Survivor and the challenge this season both at the same time yeah obviously Ellie reminds me a lot of Michelle as well yeah and the challenge she's back on the challenge she's playing Jake with Jay they're a Dio this time Jay from Survivor so her and Jay I believe dated for a little while outside of the game and they're very close just still good friends and everything so they're a Dio in this season's challenge I hope they do well I haven't watched the latest episode of The Challenge yet I've been too busy I'll probably try and catch up Sunday evening my time I'll

17:26 Try and catch up so keep it spoiler free in the chat please everybody let's get into the reward challenge here Jake we're going to the reward challenge the rewards fresh fish deliver to Camp if you win but the more important thing out of this is the fact that you can go to an opposition camp and you can choose to steal one item from that camp that is the reward that they're gonna get it starts off with sandbags they have to throw blocks throw sandbags of blocks on the platform we've got Cody going absolutely beast mode and saying and doing what he wanted to do which is catching back up he does extremely well going up against Sammy and Ryan having a really difficult time with these throwing bits for an athletic guy he was really underperforming this challenge Chris would be this challenge is for me I played I played baseball in high school I was a pitcher so I probably would have killed it that's brag but so were you impressed by Cody's form did he have the right form when he was doing it do you think he played baseball growing up or was it just he was doing in an unorthodox way honestly it looked like he was just chucking like he was just like putting all his body which honestly it kind of looks like the blocks were you know you don't just gotta hit it you got to hit a

18:46 Pretty hard so I think Ryan was kind of struggling with that at first but Cody right off the bat was like putting all his Force into it yeah he killed it on this one I know you probably don't know what Cricket is and it's over in America yeah so it's basically like baseball a little bit different in the saints that when you throw the ball it's not in here when you throw it at a bet it actually hits the ground but when you're in the Outfield you still have to throw the ball back into where the stumps are to get somebody run out basically so being someone that played qriket I think I had a pretty good arm on me as well I'd feel reason I don't know I'm not I wasn't a pitcher so I don't know if I would have that but I would feel pretty confident it didn't look that far so I don't know why they were like why Ryan struggled it wasn't a massively long distance throw so it was interesting yeah I'm not sure it did seem pretty close but you know this challenge reminded me I went back and just watched this challenge because it just reminded me of it do you remember Chris in ghost Island yep Chris Noble holy crap I went back but he played he I remember Jeff saying he played at college level or something like first one first division or something like that so that's why I mean Chris Noble is

20:07 Just one of those forgotten names about Survivor that I would love to go like see come back and play the game because he was also I don't know if he would be as you know if his self-awareness would be better coming into this future season but I would want him to be exactly like it was that season it was fun to see him play you know and just have this inflated for some good reasons because it's a good-looking line probably very successful in life you know he comes in thinking he's going to have it his way in the game and then he just runs into a brick wall with Wendell and Dom That season he needs to come back he is he's one of the bright spots I would have loved for him and Dom to come back in a rival season like if they ever did a rival season but now Dom and Chris they're friends you know like Chris's Uncle Chris to his kids so I mean it wouldn't be the same now he voted for him to win too yeah game respects game man at the end of the day I remember hearing rumors that season 40 was actually originally going to be rivals yeah I think I think Russell Hans is the one who's been he's let the cat out of the bag back to the spoilerways and told everybody that he was contacted for a rival season but yeah it would have been great I hope that just by him saying that this was the theme they don't go ah well now we can't do it I hope they still go ahead and

21:27 Do a rival season because I think it would be a lot of fun yeah Jay here saying yes season 40 was originally supposed to be Rivals and also says he loves cricket it's great I love Cricket as well Jay where are you from are you let us know what country you're from because I don't feel like a lot of Americans would know about Cricket I don't think it's a sport that's very widely televised no yeah but people you know there's actually quite a few people that would be sorry I just want to acknowledge that this would be a legitimate rivalry right now if we had to get a rival season and Sean this I mean I'm not the biggest Sean fan like I'll put it out there but she's fun to root against you know and I mean let's see what happens like she was fun on The Challenge USA as well but she went out very bitter very bitter just like I'd left a sour taste in my mouth when she went out of that game but any case Sean versus Ricard would be a legitimate rivalry because these were these two were besties in the game and they absolutely hate each other's guts right now so yeah I would I'd be there for that I don't know if they'd agree to it but yeah what I was gonna say there are actually a few quite a few people in my high school that played rugby oh yeah because rugby is becoming and I know we're very off topic for people listening to this Survivor podcast but rugby is becoming a big sport over in the USA

22:47 And yeah they've now got you know a professional League over there in the USA as well so that took them years to get up the ground off the ground but Jay's saying that he's from the Caribbean so obviously would have been a big Chris Gayle fan I know you don't know who that is another good press that used to play cricket for West Indies but yeah let's move on with this episode where we can get off track sometimes to go on tangents but I think that's what half of the people like they're like the tangents they like hearing a little bit more than just what we saw in the episode but we do have here in this episode Cody doing really well he has to play the floors lava and had to roll those blocks around and step on it gets to the other side ultimately vesi wins they finally pull one out of the bag and what I really liked about this was Owen as they're walking away maybe didn't get a confessional but we saw his political game once again come in here he walks past them and say great job eyes well deserved you know gives them that like little bit of acknowledgment obviously trying to like butter them up so that they don't come to the Baka tribe to steal something yep I noticed that too and I told I was like oh yeah he doesn't want to get raided he's doing that for the game just sorry this is this is kind of distracting me Jay keeps saying y-h for

24:07 Yeah is that a Caribbean thing I've noticed I actually know a few people from the Caribbean let us know Jay they say sorry that's good also off topic but that just yeah that's good that's good I didn't know that means gear so that's good I was seeing it so yeah I thought it just meant young Hustlers which we both are one of us is a little bit younger than the other but yeah so obviously great work here by great work here by Owen to acknowledge you know the fact that they won buttered them up a little bit before they go out leave a good taste in their mouth and obviously that's good that karma is going to come back later on in the game as well and double fold when it comes to the immunity and we'll talk about that in a little bit as well but they've got a decision to make a really big decision to make in regards to who are they going to raid and also a little talking about Angelina some negotiation comes back up a lot of people gave Angelina a lot of crap back in the day when she wanted to negotiate but since then everybody is negotiating with Jeff some better than others and I feel like Jeff also has become a little bit softer over the years in regards to what he allows people to do so they're like we don't have Flint so we can't eat fish Cody's saying do you not eat sushi and I was like No And I've got to be honest man I like fish yeah see again 50 here for me

25:27 I can eat sushi but not raw sushi I don't like raw fish it's not for me man she is not all fishes raw like you get chicken Sushi you get tuna sushi like some of it like is cooked like you don't have to have raw fish like it's like a common misconception that people have is that all Sushi is raw I actually love just raw fish like one of my favorite things is actually speaking of Cody a Hawaiian thing it's called Pokey it's like raw fish with you know like lettuce and rice and vegetables and a lot of them like to put pineapple in it because that's oh yeah that's good Hawaiian thing yeah like something fresh fruit yeah there's some raw salmon and tuna with like a spicy like Mayo it's so good yeah I love I love raw fish raw salmon specifically Sushi's the best yeah I mean Jay's asking you since when is negotiating exchanging rewards always been a thing on Survivor I don't remember prior to Angelina I think just because her one was such a big one back then but I'm sure someone did it before that I'm sure there was a point where people negotiated even before that she wasn't the first one but she was the iconic one I actually saw Marianne responded to a

26:47 Reddit post it wasn't about the negotiating but it was about the exchanging Rewards that her tribe actually exchanged one of their rewards in 42 but I guess they didn't show it so apparently that's been a thing for a while and I guess it really came into play this episode because how would they yeah if they don't like raw fish how are they gonna they can't cook it they don't have Flint so I do it okay he would have just eaten a drool but you know listen if I was out there and that was what I had to do I would have eaten it like even I would have just sucked it up you know you got to get your protein from somewhere I don't think I would have enjoyed it but I would have definitely Chow Down if I had to for the tribe because you don't want to be the weak link that does not eat and then you don't perform in the next challenge and your tribe just says see you later you're weak you can't fit in like with Gables struggling out there you don't want to be the gay blow of the tribe you know but ultimately they do exchange it for I believe fresh fruit and something else for one of the rewards that they that they got and they now have to make a decision and somehow Cody is the first person to put his hand up you can see Dwight really wanted to go I'm sure shut her down with saying wait you've already been on a trip that's probably why he was

28:07 Out voted on this one and then Cody being one of the people having that have not gone on a trip he ultimately goes on this thing but I would have had the very same concerns off the bat that twade have because you know Cody is not necessarily like he's a fun guy to be around but is he the best negotiator and they don't know that he's a salesperson which sales people are excellent negotiators but they don't know that so I'm not surprised that he wants to go for the jugular here he wants to take their machete and one of the best lines of this episode was Jesse saying the old Jesse would have been in the same boat as Cody and would have wanted to take the machete but the new Jesse lives in the cul-de-sac and he's now got to be friendly to the neighbors yeah that's yeah I live in a pretty I live in a in a suburb in Arizona and just there's cul-de-sacs I laughed when he said that because that's just yeah that's just like a perfect analogy of like what he how he's changed I thought that was funny yeah Cody I'm sure you were about to ask about this but I just want to say what was his real plan going into this what do you do you think he really did want the machete or do

29:27 You think that he I think he wanted the machete to begin with right and I do think his tribe convinced them not to do that because they didn't want to burn Bridges with the tribe that has got the most people still in the game potentially he's going to have all the power going into the merge so it made strategic scenes not to do that even though the reasoning was sound like I mean if they always had a machete can they start a fire can they cut coconut can they like I feel like a machete he is like the thing you need it's like the Swiss knife that you need to have at camp that can do everything for you out there so I do think that his reasoning will sound in that sense but the Diplomatic choices not to do that and I think that they convinced them not to go in that direction prior to leaving now the whole strategy that he employed or deployed when he got there and he was like I want your machete that is a sales tactic and I can talk to that as a salesperson we do that as salespeople we go into negotiation and we always never ever go halfway or to the minimum we always go with a high ball offer that we know people are not going to want and then if they fold and they show their hand like they did here where they're like anything but that he wasn't the money so there was clear manipulation from a salesperson sales tactics being used at its very best you know so if you ask me would I employ Cody as a salesperson after seeing that 100 because

30:48 Remember they only had one item that they could get but he ended up living there with multiple items he ended up leaving there with the fishing gear he ended up living there with the potato root camera type of route that they had plus he left it with lime so he got three items for the price of one you only needed one yeah so and the and here's the craziest thing of all is that all of them felt really close to Cody because he manipulated them even further by saying like hey I'm the good guy I'm on your side you know like I'm not the same time yeah I'm just the messenger I'm not the shredder just like yeah if I don't go back with this machete give me help me help you give me a little bit more so I can go back and make my trust fund good about the fact that I don't have the machete so brilliant strategy by him there brilliant strategy and nobody picked it up except for the other Superstar of the Season Carla who I've just continued to be so impressed by because when he leaves she's like he just took us for a ride like he just got everything he wanted we didn't negotiate right but she was even though she saw this happening she's still is smart enough not to speak up against Cody and make herself a Target Cody doesn't know that Carla is saying all that stuff very smart I am I am immensely oppressed at Carla

32:08 Like Carla for me right now is the playing the best Survivor game 101 this season I am a Carla Stanford House who's playing this game right now I'm very impressed yeah I drafted her and listen I had I was not expecting her to be to be doing this well and you know I hope that it's not like she's not a red herring you know kind of like Shan or Omer in the past two seasons but yeah if she keeps playing the way she is now like she I see her making it really far my concern for Carla is still the concern I had last week who is the people that is going to go deep in the game with her who are the people that we know enough about care enough about that is in that tribe and that cocoa tribe because we know there's not going to be a swap so I still feel low on color because I feel like she is going to go down with a sinking ship when they get to the merge and we're starting to see the early seeds being planted here for a potentially vessey Baka Alliance if we get to emerge and I know I'm like this is way off I'm making bold calls here but that is how the story is unfolding for me currently and that could put her in a bad place she may be the last one to go from Coco she may take a couple of big names out with her which is her story but how does she win the season now if she

33:28 Does get out of this bottom situation going into emerge and she does win this season well I respect her as much as I respect Chris Daughtry for getting out of a situation he shouldn't have gotten out of 100 she would be top tier level winner for me if she can get herself out of that type of predicament if she gets to emerge so I'm excited to see it because I'm excited I underestimated her the draft I you know everybody tells us that they're good at lying everybody tells us that they're going to be manipulative everybody tells us they're going to be strategic but not very many people actually go out there and follow through with what they said in the pre-season and I looked at it in the preseason and thought nah probably not going to happen you know because Eddie or 90 of people say this and they just can't deliver but she's delivering hats off to you Carla you're playing a really great game at this point yeah and another thing too I think people kind of dismissed how good she would be in the challenges where you know just kind of based on her appearance and I never really bought into that and I think I'm feeling a bit Vindicated because I don't think she struggled in a single challenge she's kept she's been pulling her weight as much well they've only just lost the first one now so they've been winning a lot well I was I feel like people were more worried physically whereas this one was the puzzle

1:11:56 Triple the money because a million dollars USA is a lot of money for people who have Rand you know or who have Australian dollars the Australian dollars almost kind of equals out because in Australia if you win the prize money you don't get taxed on prize money so you almost get the same amount from that so it's very equal because your tax what was half your winnings in the US which is Criminal you know so if you think about that's not any less and for South Africans they'll jump at the opportunity like I personally talk to South African survivors reasonably regularly there's not a single one of survivors of Africa players that will say no to going out there and potentially winning U.S money like they would 100 do it so I think it could be interesting Richard brings up an interesting point here and I talked about this as well on my live video or my little short form video he says that they could do accidents for sub for sorry subtitles for accents right because I understand there's like my accent I've got a South African slash kiwi slash a little bit of a bastardized accent people seem to understand what I'm saying most of the time but some people from South Africa I've heard comments being made even by Australians the accent too thick I can't understand everything always well back in the day you had Tom half of the people didn't understand big Tom you know like in the head subtitles or Rupert and subtitles sometimes like so for me just get subtitles if the person's

1:13:16 Got a very thick accent but I think that it would be interesting to see so I'm hoping that it's something that you know does happen I'm hoping that Jeff doesn't before one of these International shows does it because I really feel like my money isn't one of those two franchises to definitely do it but then everybody misses out in the U.S yeah I have a question how what percentage of the South Africa players would you say speak Afrikaans or another language well I think most of them speak other languages like I said we've got about 12 official languages but if I had to think about it probably Afrikaans specifically would be around 30 maybe 40 at a stretch maybe 50 of them that could speak Afrikaans it depends on the season yeah for who speaks that but again you know you've watched some of that Jake you know you've yeah obviously as an American this is why I'm asking you this question because I've had this podcast with Shannon Gus who's not American I've spoken to Michael about it quite a bit who will be doing Australian Survivor content with me in the future he's in New Zealand and I've spoken to Richard who's in the live and Zoe who's not in the life now but they talk to me about South African Survivor and all of us are like yes this will be a great concept but as an American as someone who has watched Survivor South Africa I know you love the international versions

1:14:36 Of the show how difficult is it to get into the accent do you think that is enough of a reason for Jeff to be concerned about potentially bringing this in culturally do you think that it would be something that would be extremely difficult where do you see the biggest issues being helpfulness so actually the reason I asked is because I was thinking could there be an issue with once the tribes merge or swap could the South African players just talk to each other in Afrikaans of the other players and there's just kind of nothing they can do about it right it shouldn't be allowed like for me the blanket rule the blanket rule should be if you go and play the game English is the language you know that everybody speaks here Afrikaans or Zulu or Koza or whatever language you speak you're not allowed to speak there because it's an unfair advantage to other players in the game they can't over you for instance because then you take away Tony's whole thing with his spice check or Luke Toki trying to go down with a spy Shack to listen to chappies and Robin Telly strategize and they can't understand what they're saying for instance as an example but so I think you have to bring that in as a rule but I do think that there's something there yeah that was my main concern with the language I think yeah if you can't understand just put subtitles like that I don't really see
