0:51 That's right I'm your host Chris and with me is my co-host Jake as always but we're also joined by a friend of the channel someone that I believe I haven't spoken to in a while maybe about four five six weeks but Drew from the angel cake entertainment Channel who normally focuses mainly on the challenge content is here to tell us what he thinks of Survivor 43 and more specifically this episode Drew welcome back to the channel thank you thank you for having me I'm excited to talk about a show slash a season slash an episode I've not talked about with anybody else so I'm very excited to be here very excited to have you very excited to hear what you think of the season but before that I want to go over to Jake how are you doing how's things on your end how's the studies going it's been it's been going along I'm glad that I have someone else here with me to deal with You Chris I'm just by myself for once yeah everything's good over here in America you know elections stuff Drew knows midterms pretty stressful stuff but looking good yeah and also welcome to everybody here in the live stream I know it is evening over there in the United States right now sort of midday here Chris welcome back to the live so happy to be able to catch

2:11 One of your lives again I know I've been horrible at the times because it sort of have fitted around my schedule a little bit more which isn't the greatest for the USA but I always appreciate all the comments Chris that you leave after the videos and also still watching it after the lives are done Dolores hello and Deanna hello and also lovable Nikki and Christian and Christian starting it off with some hot tea here or hot take another vote for out for a woman unfortunately yes we'll definitely get into that a lot of women have been eliminated early on in the Survivor season but Drew before we get into all of that stuff you just mentioned you haven't spoken to anybody about Survivor 43 as of yet you haven't been able to get your thoughts out there how are you feeling about this season as an overall are you high on it are you learning how does it compare to other Seasons that have taken place in the near era like 41 42 and now we've got 43.

3:05 I feel like this I don't know what it is about this season but I've been more casual at this with this season I don't know if it's because of the news Challenge season starting but with this season I haven't been able to like feel like I dive completely headfirst into this season I think it has a lot of interesting characters I like some of the stuff that they've changed since 41 and 42 after hearing some of the audiences critiques about it and trying to go differently with it but it's just like I don't know if it's because of my experiences with 41 and 42 and not being super high on those two seasons that coming into this season I was like all right I'm gonna take a little bit more of a back seat to it and I've just been super casual I think I missed like an episode one week and I kind of just was like binging them instead of keeping up with it week to week but I thought with this episode it started ramping up a little bit more to the point where I'm like okay this is where I feel like the season is finally maybe kicking off maybe this is where it really like I can finally sink my teeth into it I don't know I've read somewhere that it's like some people are kind of criticizing the editing style how they're portraying the stories of the players but so far the season has been decent has been good has been like a normal Survivor season in my opinion I just I

4:25 Don't know what it is I just haven't been able to dive head first into it though yeah Chris I think is one of those people she says here in the comments they seem to be favoring surprising the audience over cohesive narrative structure this season feels a bit weird because of that myself and Jake have been really high on this season and I don't know what it is about the season that just maybe it is I'm growing softer on what Jeff is trying to do which is changing the fundamental structure of the game and how it is maybe it's the fact that the cast have been likable and I feel like there's a lot of people I could root for but Jake ultimately even after the season I feel like oh this episode I should say even after this episode I feel like we leave with more questions than answers in regards to who the hell is going to win this bloody show yeah I mean I don't I don't necessarily disagree or agree with Chris about it being like super incohesive like I think it's been fairly easy to follow but in terms of like who's gonna run away with this like what is the who has the winners at it I guess I have no idea after this episode or during this episode there was one guy I was looking at I was like this guy and this is his episode this is his coming out episode

5:46 Like he's gonna you know shoot off you know way into the final travel Council easily win this no into the crap shoot at the end I have no idea what's going to happen I if you're gonna ask later in this in this podcast who I think is going to win I have no idea well you've got time to think about it as we go through this episode and review everything that happened but I'm picking up a few things here in the live Dolores welcome back to the live as well if I didn't welcome you earlier says I personally did not appreciate them allowing us to think that Dwight left with the idol in his pocket and it's weird how this is because as fans we all appreciate different things about Survivor and that's what makes Survivor so great because some people love things some people hate things but at the end of the day if it makes you feel a certain way my opinion is always that is a good thing because it makes you want to come back if you didn't care and you didn't get upset about something it means you don't you don't have any kind of feeling towards the show as a whole but I actually quite enjoyed the fact that they Bamboozled as a little bit here Drew because coming back into this next episode with Jesse sitting there being like hey no one else knows I've actually got Dwight's Idol he handed it to me just before the tribal council to me it was quite satisfying finding it out in this way because they actually take us on a journey

7:06 Where Sammy believes it's flushed he wanted to flush it he's telling everybody it's flashed Jesse plays up that it's flashed to James which is great play because James has got the knowledge his power which he is aware of I really enjoyed how they kind of put this together I thought it made sense to me but I understand and appreciate that some people may not have liked that I loved it I mean I'll be honest I loved it I watched the episode prior to this one and I was just like oh my gosh like she just got hit being blindsided by the vote in the previous episode with her like best friend leaving and she had an idol in her pocket to possibly save her best friend then Dwight's leaving after she I was like oh man this girl is cooked and then the then watching this episode and seeing Jesse pull it out of his pocket and have that reveal Jesse has been a person that I've kept my eye on for quite a while like I said I was kind of a casual fan but Jesse's always stood out to me since the very early portions of the show with his backstory and how he's been able to play this game and I was always like I'm gonna keep my eye on that guy and just having that reveal and I was just like my mind was blown it was incredible I to me it was one of the better moments in the in the past recent Seasons that I was like wow that took me by surprise yeah Jake what was your thoughts on seeing it all play out because I'm sure you would have had a

8:26 Bit of a take on it as well I thought it was beautiful storytelling and agree with Drew obviously yeah I know I completely agree with you guys this is one of the times in the past few seasons where like my jaw actually dropped like I had no expectation no idea that was gonna happen and just like seeing and then them just showing the flashback of him giving it to him oh it's so great and just knowing no one has any idea everyone thinks that it's flushed yeah and having the prisons of mine because the big problem I find this season for me Drew is once again I don't know if the quality like I enjoyed the players like I think the players are fun they're charismatic they do crazy moves I mean myself and Jake believe that Gables should be returning every season because he brings a certain Madness to the show that I absolutely love but I don't know what is happening with the caliber of the players out there Drew because they keep telling everybody about their advantages instead of staying quiet so how massive is this for Jesse to stay quiet on this one and I don't believe he's even told Cody about it at this stage this would be huge this is something you don't tell anybody even your best friend on the island because like you were saying so many people just like have loose lips and even when after like Janine confides in Sammy

9:46 I mean that news travels everywhere in the matter of a minute everybody is joking around like six feet away from each other joking around that her Idol is gone and Dwight took it with him like it's incredible how like it doesn't matter like normally I feel like in past Survivor seasons this news would just be passed around like to have collected for you they would laugh about it and then they would go off and try to pull something over somebody else but this season it just seems like everybody just knows everything which is crazy to me crazy yeah I want to bring up I just want to bring up before you and I will come back to you Jay because you've got afford to hold on to that thought Flynn Masters bringing up here and I know this will go over your head drew a little bit because he brings up some men for gash from Australian Survivor blood versus water and saying that Jesse pulled off for some men for gash now I've got an awards ceremony planned for the end of the year for all survivor Seasons where we're going to talk about who which one of the seasons with the Internationals were included in this is the best one so far this year who's the best player what's the best move maybe Jesse and Samantha will be in those nominations for Best Move of the year because very similar to cement for gas Jesse does kind of indirectly steal Janine's Idol here which is very satisfying to see you back to you Jake can I just say how crazy it

11:06 Is that Dwight didn't tell Janine hey I gave that I actually gave the idol to Jesse he has it now like why would I don't know why he wouldn't or even say it as he's as he's out the door saying like dude Jesse just stole the idol he still has it's not with me like I don't know maybe I'm crazy but that kind of seems like something you would tell yeah well here's the thing right both myself and Jake Drew we're not big fans of the knowledge's power we think that it's way too powerful it's not a great twist to have in the game but Playing devil's advocate here is the knowledge is power a good thing because it's creating this chaos right now and people are trying to work around it I'm almost thinking now that if we see these kinds of crazy happenings with people handing Idols to each other and landing in a different person's pocket that really never should have had that Idol in the first place maybe the knowledge of power is not such a bad thing I don't know dare I say it I think it's interesting it's an interesting twist but I don't know how well it can work going to season to season I feel like maybe this is the last season they could use it but I think they're trying to make everybody hold on to their advantages and keep quiet about them but it's not working it's just making them swap around idols and doesn't Jesse have now Cody's Idol because of that or did he

12:26 Give it to him before this or before he's got Cody's Idol so he's got Cody's Idol Cody is not asked for the idol back at this point so if Jesse wanted to be really Cutthroat he goes and sides with someone else gets Cody voted out and he's got two Idols in his pocket Jake making him possibly the most dangerous player in the game and my eyes are right back on GC at this point because I kind of feel like this episode raised them back up in the in the sort of stocks as maybe the person to watch out for the rest of the season yeah I like Jesse a lot I think that theoretically he should be doing he is doing really well but I always come back to it seems like he kind of defers back to Cody every episode like he was he wanted Noel but Cody was like no we need to get Dwight and he just went along with it and then this episode it kind of seemed like Cody was the one calling the shots of like needs to be Jimmy we can't go Ryan needs to be Janine and then it's like once Cody said it boom everything changed and it shifted towards Janine whereas Jesse kind of stayed in the background which is smart but also he's gonna need that's extra work he needs to do down the line to show like hey like I was actually like better than Cody like I wasn't just

13:46 Like hiding behind him you know yeah democracy brings up a valid point knowledge of his power works better when other players are aware of it and they can play around it and luckily for us James has got to lose lips and he tells everybody what he's got like we spoke about that in the previous recap he found the advantage no one knew what the advantage was going to be he could have said I get to steal a vote I get an extra vote he could have made it something that wasn't as powerful as the knowledge of power but he went and told everybody what he had which gives players the ability to work around Jameson the game so because of that I don't know if he's really The Mastermind that he sees himself to be at this stage in the game but a really big move Drew was made by Sammy in the previous game a lot of people weren't aware of this Sami ended up voting on the right side of the vote and it looks like he's got a great relationship with both Jesse and Cody who are the two people who spoke to him in the beginning of this episode about the fact that he swapped so I've Got a Feeling potentially those two people let him in on it he had to do a lot of damage control here in the early stages of this episode and a big part of this episode is going to be about him trying to get the bottom dwellers together to bring up I guess a counter faction to take down the powers that be where does this

15:06 Leave semi at this point with those people that he's betrayed do you think he did a good job in trying to gain their trust and go back to them after this as good a job as he probably could have I mean in this situation I mean I feel like he did good enough in a sense that they have no other real options I mean the only thing they can do is listen to somebody who is willing to work with them because they are totally at the bottom they're left out of the votes they're just looking for a crumb a hole that they can find some breathing air with and I think he does a good enough job but by the time we get to the end of this episode I mean I don't know where it leaves them I don't know where this leaves us moving forward when he's trying to make moves yet he's chipping away at possible numbers that he can use to start shaking up the game in a way that could help set him up further down the line so yeah I don't know yeah the Hangouts room welcome to the live thank you for the 35 South African Rands that you've given us you say I wish I was part of this panel as we talk about women having no chance this season I wish Sammy would have made Ryan move this week would have made the rhyme move I think Sammy is not to blame here Sammy definitely wanted to make the Ryan move right it was

16:27 Cody who seemed really fixated from what I saw on Janine and saw Janine as this big threat what is your take on the fact that we've seen so many women go at this stage because myself and Jacob spoken to it a little bit in previous Recaps but what do you think about this Drew I don't know if it's like subconscious play or whatever it is it just feels like they're just I think it I think it is unfair and to me as a viewer I wish they would have made a bigger move instead of going after Janine because Janine has seemed to be the punching bag the last three episodes to the point where it's almost like kicking somebody while they're down in a way that is almost even worse because of this episode with Sammy like dangling like hope and help right in front of her face to the point where it's like at the very end when she's when Jeff is reading the votes and then all of a sudden it's just like yoink nope you can leave you can walk out of here like no more for you it was just so frustrating and I felt the I really felt The Plea and almost the helplessness in a way with Cassidy and Carla when they're trying to make their point across to them saying look we don't want to see

17:47 Another woman leave can we just make this move they were even like trying to like have a compromise here of like we can do Ryan this week and then Janine next week which I was like yeah that makes complete sense but it just seems like the guys of this season seem one puffed up in the chest a lot that their heads are growing every single week that they feel like they have the majority the seven feel really strong mainly Cody and James and it feels like in the preview to next week James feels like he's the one that he feels the most confident he feels he has the knowledge his power he feels like he's the most powerful he has the most sway he feels to the point where I feel something is coming towards him in the Horizon just by how the editing is in the preview and I'm not gonna lie I'm kind of looking forward to it because I feel like some of these players who feel like they're so on top needs to get some of their comeuppance here very soon but it just feels it feels helpless in a way that it's frustrating to watch and you want to see these cunning moves but so many players are just like stonewalling members of their quote unquote own Alliance I don't even know if it's a real Alliance it just seems like everybody's just voting together and waiting to make a move later on yeah Jake Cassidy obviously as I mean where do we go from here it's all it's all good points

19:07 There Drew I agree with you on all of it and where do we go from here I guess Cassidy she's the person who ends up following through with what she said she's like I'm not a fan of Ryan's not an ally of mine I want to get him back she does end up voting for Ryan they only needed one vote from my understanding this week they just needed gabler and Sammy to stick tight with The Underdogs and then they potentially could have swung this thing around it looked like communication didn't happen correctly between different parties where does this leave Cassidy in the game now moving forward because I do believe what's happened this season is that a lot of women have left the game because they played themselves out of the game to a certain degree I do think Moira and Janine we've said this how much were they really to blame again Cody was the one who wanted to Target Janine but those two I would say were unlucky for the others I can kind of see where the game went wrong for them and where they've made mistakes but it's now a snowball of momentum going against women and they're just getting voted out each week one after the other is Cassidy in trouble next like do we see another woman go next now that she's been the one person found out not to vote with her Alliance this is where some confusion lies in kind of the narrative that was in the last episode and hopefully it has cleared up because yeah what it What was

20:27 The communication between Cassidy Janine Owen Sammy like did they even know that Cassidy was planning on voting for Ryan because you know we saw she was the only one other than Janine so that means Owen and gabler and Noel all turned on Janine and just went with the majority so you know Sam you kind of mentioned Sammy kind of had to go along well you didn't have to they had they would have had the majority if the four on the bottom plus Cassidy and Sammy would have voted Ryan then boom that's six so I have no idea if this was you know maybe it was in case Janine had an idol I like I don't know I don't know what this vote was and so since I don't know where the vote was I have no idea how I could answer where Cassidy is in the game because this could just be a rogue vote where she's like you know out of like principal or something out of you know morals like she couldn't vote for another woman maybe that was it and it could yeah put her in some trouble next week that she's kind of you know standing against them yeah we're gonna have to see Cassidy pulls like a rabbit out of her head here she's gonna have to show some skills to go back to

21:47 Both Carla and James I know Marcus has seen here Cassidy is close with Colin James although she might be feeling she's on the outs we've also seen Carla and James turn against their allies in a second when they need to they voted out Lindsay without thinking twice they're easily considering voting out Brian which is a number for them so I do feel worried for Cassidy still I do think that there are some troubling signs for Coco there and I was very high Drew on Carla coming into the merge I thought she played probably one of the best pre-merge games and I was very impressed I thought she's probably one of the smartest players we've seen in a long time played the game because she's very low-key she doesn't give a lot of weight and she keeps a lot of information to herself but my stocks on her is kind of going down because I feel like again Carla probably should have followed through with Cassidy here and stayed woman strong because Janine could have been a valuable Ally for her in this battle against the alpha males that are still left in the game so where do you think Carla sits at this stage do you think it's too early to write off as a potential winner or do you think that window of opportunity for her to make her moves are starting to close on her very quickly I wouldn't I don't know where every jury member's heads lie or what they're gonna like put over something else game-wise so I never want to count anybody out because anybody could make

23:07 A really big move that's really flashy and then have a really good jury management or a really good jury Speech to really get everybody to vote for them so I would never want to count anybody out but at certain points during this episode I was like people want to make moves like you can tell like they're everybody's chomping at the bits they're counting everybody they're going one two three four okay there's eleven I mean we're getting close so it feels like everybody wants to make a move they just don't know when and they're just like sitting there waiting they're kind of like I would love to make a move but I don't want to really spoil my spot in the game but there's a point where you have to make it and I think for a good amount of these people the their moment is closing and so like with Sammy trying to get everybody going it's like okay you could be right in the middle dude and you could just really ride this thing going back and forth back and forth what he did in the beginning with the bottom dwellers he could go right back to the seven be like hey I know what happened I know it looks weird but we gotta stick together now I mean this is how I felt like he could talk himself into a really good position but there's so many people here that really want to win they can see it on the horizon and then there's some people that just want to survive for the next day or the next it's but the people who really feel like they're in a good spot need to put themselves in an uncomfortable

24:27 Position at some point so that they could have that risk either pay off or bite them in the butt because at some point if you don't make it and you lose your opportunity it's gonna bite you in the butt anyways so I just feel like it's getting to that point where Come On Let's do let's pick it up let's make a move here it's interesting you mentioned that talking about Carla because at Tribal Council Carla was the one who didn't agree with gabler that they needed to steady the ship and just ride it out she was the one that said yes but then how does the jury at the end know that you were a player and you made big moves and then she ends up not making the move so I do blame and no hatred towards Carla because I know some people online have been very angry at Carla for not going with Cassidy that's not what I'm trying to say but she may have just not made the move here that could have been a million dollar move for her to actually take control of this game because I don't feel like she is 100 in the driver's seat but she does have great relationships with James she's got a great relationship with Jesse that is starting to evolve as well so maybe that is something that can still keep her in the game for a while I do want to go back to a few comments here The Hangout room with another 35 friend thank you so much for that I really appreciate it Zoe at what point are they going to start getting rid of people with advantages I'm waiting for Survivor to start as I'm getting bored with the edit I think that is exactly the frustration that Drew just mentioned and has a bit of a rant there

25:48 As well Marcus says Janine is also a dangerous player if you keep her as an underdog who looks favorable with the juries whereas Ryan is a goat locked into a final three spot and I think someone else also mentioned gabler somewhere I think Ryan is a better goat than Janine as he's part of the majority in a mid-shield just don't get why Janine was targeted over gabler now I think gabler to me is still a goat in a lot of ways as well like I just don't think gabler has got the Strategic jobs to win this game and I don't think he's as likable when you look at the previous immunity challenge where he went on his runs he could see people rolling their eyes you could see them being annoyed with him so I don't think gabler is winning it so why would you want to make it more difficult for you to win the game it's just sad that Janine could have had a really good Underdog Story and we all were getting behind her and then she ends up getting her wings clipped short here also here in the live we've got Deanna Bean saying welcome to the live I think Sammy was an hour or two too early which gave Coco and Cody more time to think and go back to Janine that's a really good comment Jake because Tony vlakos showed us how to do it if you want to do it the right way just before going to tribal council do you think that Sammy tried to do it that way as well and maybe just he was that one centimeter like Cody said off from being able to make the move yeah I mean we saw you

27:08 Know Janine's talk with Owen right before and Owen was like I have no idea where this is going so it seems like yeah even towards the end it was flipping back and forth yeah if Sammy was would have just waited who knows how long then maybe tribal would have happened when they were flipped on the other side and things would have gone the other way gotta listen to Tony man gotta follow all of his rules of how to play yeah also Marcus is saying could the shot in the dark be playing a part in case Janine played her sitd I'm not sure what it is and works which leaves shot in the dark and works which leaves Ryan goes home in case Janine still had her Idol could the shot and not be playing a part in case yeah I guess so the shot in the dark to me has been a massive flop at this stage Drew how do you feel about the shot in the dark because I mean I feel like it's a non-entity it pretty much is I mean the probability of you getting it is really small and I don't think it's worked out for anybody right so I mean I just don't think people even think of it I think it's just like whatever it's basically nothing yeah it's nothing it's to me it's strange how people see that vote being so important they don't want to lose it at this stage of the game that they're not going to go for shot in the dark even if they do feel like they're under threat

28:28 Because I mean the minority group here would have known that they're in danger Janine knew I mean Sammy told her that you're the person they're targeting so she knew that she was being you know potentially up there as a vote and she still didn't play it because her vote meant more to her in this merch stage of the game but yet in the pre-merge state of the game Jake people will very easily give their vote up to get an advantage in the game how does this make sense to me make sense of it for me yeah I don't know why people in the premierge were so willing to just you know risk their vote when they're in tribes of six but you know it was very crucial for Janine to keep her vote this tribal because you know they were probably looking at only six if it was going to happen six votes if she you know loses her vote to use the shop dark then it's back to a 5-5 which is not gonna work so yeah it's funny that people are now thinking about this instead of you know thinking this through in the pre-merge when that's way more important you know don't want to be voted out before the merge even starts yeah doloresius says players in the excellent interview has said that they don't do the shot in the dark because they know the next week they're still a Target which makes sense and the hangout room we forget again 35 friends thank you so much Zoe appreciate you the

29:48 Fact that Jake doesn't know how it went down shows how bad the editors do we blame the players or Jeff or the edit for how boring the season is I Jake I feel like people are very low on this season like for some other reason and I'm really enjoying it make sense of it for me no I'm not this low I mean I think that it's just these past two votes that have been a bit boring like a bit predictable and I feel like people feel like that they were kind of like what Sammy did to Janine it was dangled in front of their face and then swiped away at the last second you know oh is Sammy gonna make this masterful big move you know where he takes out Ryan and is finally taking control of the game and I think a lot of people are upset to see another woman go and I think a lot of people including myself were really coming around to Janine I just she was one of my favorites in this season and so to see her go when she could have been like a really cool Underdog Story I think that's you know people are a bit upset about that but we got a lot of ways left to go I think it's too early to be labeling this season as you know a snoozer I think that it's got a lot of potential to

31:09 Be really good and even at this stage I don't think it's like you know that boring yeah I just wanted to throw this out there that when I was re-watching this episode and thinking back to it I was like all you really had to do was start the episode right at the immunity challenge see Owen winning and then jump straight to Tribal Council and not show any of the talking or anything and it's exactly how I would have thought it would work it's like well Janine's gone she was on The Chopping Block anyways and it's just like I think that's also the frustration at least for this episode's standpoint is like you wanted something more and we could have gotten something more it just felt like a little lackluster an anti-climactic towards the ending with the result of just ultimately Janine leaving so I was like oh okay well you've got to ask yourself the question Drew because we sold this whole buildup for semi getting the Rugrats or The Underdogs together to go and go up against the forces of evil and you know take them down take the Empire down and it didn't go down that way why did we see so much of semi-strategizing why do we keep seeing Sammy talk about you know wanting to be respected if he does get to the end with moves and things like this do we think that Sammy is going to get caught because he's playing a very dangerous role in the middle or do you think

32:29 That he potentially can still pull this thing off next week or the week after and this is just the beginnings that's showing where the seed was planted for those bigger Alliance to be taken down does it maybe make sense at the end of the season that we didn't see a play out because there's no reason like you said to show semi do all this because Janine ended up going home in any case how do we make sense of this edit and maybe that's where the frustration is coming from I think mainly what I would view this as is kind of like what was the middle part the not I can't remember the eighth movie in the Star Wars franchise but anyways not the rise of Sky Skywalker but The Return of the Jedi rise of the Jedi yeah Last Jedi Last Jedi there it is this episode was more like The Last Jedi in the sense that it I think it was showing how the cracks in the seven were and how on thin ice that they are with each other like Cassidy is pushing back Carla wants to take out Ryan Sammy wants to make up these big moves gabler is hanging out with Ryan trying to just find a spot to hang out with and get a little bit of reprieve I think it is just the bridge movie that when you're watching it you're like oh my gosh nothing really happens in this movie now we it's all build up for the third movie that we knew was coming and was already in pre-production and post-production and everything so I think what

33:49 Sammy was saying in the tribal council where he was like it's gonna be like Civil War up in here and it's going to change drastically in the next coming time and it's like I think they kept it in the edit because it's going to happen that way I mean you could already tell the fractures it just wasn't going to happen this episode so I think that's where we're trying to see in this edit where they were trying to make it trying to foreshadow that and make it exciting for an episode that is ultimately not as exciting towards the end when Janine ultimately leaves it's interesting because I also just want to add Jake and I will come back to you that you know we as fans have gotten used to streaming things and watching like a whole show play out in front of us so we can be more forgiving like when you watch the mole on Netflix if there was a an episode that just is a bit slow because you can watch four of them per week and it makes sense in hindsight that a specific episode was slow because it was sort of character building or you know foreshadowing of a bigger move to come in the future and I think that you know Survivor still being on this old school format of us just getting one episode at a time it can be frustrating at times when you get that one or two character building or storyline building sort of episodes where nothing really happens but I agree with you drew I think Sammy is still in it to win it and definitely one of the three people I think that can still win this game even though he had a bad episode here Jake you were gonna

42:45 Feeding them so if they get rid of me they're done for her and to me that is like I don't know kind of like the Jonathan Vibe of it all like he just felt like he was the provider he was the big strong guy nobody can fend off or can live without him and he was able to make it to the end but without this intention to your game the intent to win the strategy is there I mean it would be easy for anybody to be like oh Ryan just went fishing all day I mean that's all he can hang his hat on he kind of just went with whatever the majority did and we kind of told him where he needed to go kind of vibe like he didn't even know his name was thrown out there because he was swimming with the fishes and he could be swimming with the fishes later in a different way I think that it's funny because I think Ryan is going to take from this like oh yeah they were going after me but they saved me because I was getting all that fish and I think he's gonna take the wrong lesson from this vote unfortunately but shout out to Ryan catching 21 fish right that is insane I don't think I think you know Jeff always talks about records I'm pretty sure this is a record for catching fish in a day I mean we've had some decent people go out there and try and provide for their tribe and struggle before him so I don't think it's as easy as people think it is just the guy out

44:05 There in the ocean and go catch fish so he's clearly found something that if he doesn't stay in personal training or bodybuilding he should be out there catching fish because he's clearly got the gift for it you know good job on that but overall this immunity challenge was an interesting one they had this pole with the ball at the top that they had to balance like I said Owen does clutch it out he does win it at the end the big dilemma is obviously the point where they have to decide who's going to sit out no surprises there because the people who do end up sitting out are those that are in the majority seven they all feel very safe I think Sammy was probably one of the people who took the biggest risk there because he isn't really within the vessey numbers or the cocoa numbers in that seven years the sole buck up person but I think that is a great move for Sammy because he continues to build trust with James and the league the likes of the others who did this so overall great gameplay by them not surprised to see who was playing very hard here but again Jay Cody just missing out twice now second place does Cody become a part of the conversation as someone that is a threat even more so than a player like Ryan who hasn't really performed yet he may be as physically big but he hasn't really shown that he can win any of these things yeah I think that yeah it's interesting like you said that Ryan is kind of being in this conversation even though yeah it's Cody that's been you know even in the in the pre-emerge Ryan struggled a few times and Cody

45:25 Was always consistently doing really well so it's pretty impressive that like no one's really we haven't seen them talk about that yet I think that he definitely could be in that conversation I'm surprised I would be surprised if that was the reason they took him out instead of like hey isn't Cody kind of calling the shots right now seems like he really is so I wouldn't be surprised if both of those together comes to be like yeah this guy's dangerous that's a good point because this is twice now that Jesse has listened to Cody about where to vote because Jesse had his own plan to vote for Noel the previous one Cody convinced him to rather go for Dwight and then in this episode again Jesse seemed kind of on board you don't know if he was really on board but he kind of seemed on board until Cody became a part of the conversation and he said let's not vote out Ryan this is a slam dunk easy vote let's vote out Janine one of the more laughable comments was when James and Cassidy and Carla were all talking there and Cassidy is like how can you think that Janine is more of an athletic threat than Ryan and James is like well she could be she could you know have some hidden skills we don't know about that to me was just a crazy argument and I do think Cassidy and Carla and Jameson specifically Cassidy and James I think there's going to be a rift and I wouldn't be surprised to see her turn against James in the future

46:46 So yeah so moving on from that we have a lot of obviously scrambling going on here CD Mac in the live also says why did Survivor must lead us with semi-strategy double question mark plus Noel has a Steeler vote they need five people to make a move so that was never discussed so again it makes you wonder why did that not come up and there's so many advantages in the game Jake that we kind of lose track of what the potential outcomes could have been because I completely forgot that Noel at that steal a vote yeah unfortunately though if they would have had five plus the steel vote that would have only put them at a tie because then there would be 12 votes and it would only be six so it'd be six they would have needed one more regardless doesn't the Steeler vote mean you take someone else's ability to vote and make it your own so the votes don't get added oh yes yeah so it would have been enough I was thinking extra though no so steal of it yeah so it also explains why Noel in the next on Survivor is the one saying I feel ready to make a move because it's probably her thinking about using her stealer vote in this next spot to see if they can make a move and maybe this is still where Sammy Noel Cassidy might be coming over to that side to play and get Ryan out maybe finally Cassidy gets her revenge on Ryan and she gets him out of the game because that is still a very powerful tool in the game to have and I'm interested

48:06 To see how that is going to play out but most of the strategy in the discussion here at this point we've spoken about already obviously with the tribal council happening I think that you know the outcome of the vote in some ways to me wasn't as big of a surprise when they ended up going for Janine being voted out here as we sort of look at Janine's game Drew as a whole you know she was one of the unluckiest players we've ever seen in survivor really with so many things going wrong what could she have done differently if anything in this game do we have to go back to the early stages with her not trusting gabler and looking through gabler's bag and that Rift happening there maybe that was playing too hard too early it could have been I mean I my thought process with that is that it just shows what you do no matter where it is in the game could come back to haunt you and to me I think that ultimately could be trickled down to a poor mistake maybe it was maybe it wasn't not going through gabler's bag was the mistake but going through it or feeling like we're talking about James having confidence in this game Cody having confidence I mean over at their original tribe she felt super confident with Moira and being able to look through his bag with anybody around and that news got back to him super quickly like it didn't even five

49:27 Minutes later he was being told that oh she looked through your bag and saw your advantage it's like if she would have maybe done it with just her and then Moira was like at the lookout or something and maybe it was just her around just looking it up instead of having multiple people around I think it could have been a different a different strategy but I just think that maybe they were putting 2 too much numbers or faith into their own tribes like original tribes number coming into the merge which ultimately came back to bite them and maybe they weren't putting too much into their social game once the merge actually happened I mean I don't think it's any just one move that kind of it all trickles down and little tiny details makes one big picture so I feel like there is multiple stumbling places that possibly Janine could have maybe went left instead of right that could have helped write her game but it just never was she was never able to gain her ground I mean the last three weeks have been rough I mean her closest friend she loses her Idol thinks it's walked out but it's still it's sitting next to her at Tribal Council and then she ultimately walks I mean it's it sucks but I think it ultimately is a conglomerate of small tiny details that added up to her leaving

50:48 Ultimately in this episode yeah really Justice for Janine I hope she gets another opportunity in the Second Chance season in the future I just feel like so many things went so bad for her and hopefully she showed early on that she has got the makings of a great player I think but like Jay here said maybe one of those reasons that she struggled as well is because she listened to Ellie a little bit too much and going after Moira very early on in the game when she tried to have and this has been a running theme throughout the season it's like hey the woman needs to look after each other and they keep voting each other out so maybe that is ultimately going to be with no woman left at the end because it's been running through throughout the season so far and they're going to look back at it as one of the big mistakes they made Jake let's get into who do we think is still in the running here I know you said you were not sure I'm hoping that for the 51 minutes that we've been talking you've been able to gather your thoughts yeah if you had to nominate three people right now who's in the driver's seat and give us a very short explanation as to why you think these three people are still in the running and I'll also go over to Drew after so I think Cody this is the big one I'm really impressed with him being kind of the King right now I mean he's like calling the shots like kind of like whatever Cody says goes at this point which is good but also dangerous because I mean it's not to me it's not that subtle

56:08 Like we could have gotten him out so many times and he was even in the right side of the boat this time around so I mean I don't know it to me I just got a slimy feeling that he's just gonna be able to like be able to wiggle his way all the way down to the end so I like I like that I like that left field pick there because myself and Jake started talking about gabler last recap and we were like does gameplay have a chance at winning this thing like is there like an off chance like he gets to the end and he actually wins this thing I don't my problem with gambling way is not in my top three he's had the consistent edit he's had the story around him he's had the confessional about only one player ever being older than 50 that has won this show and he knows that so he's gonna have to play his game differently so he is aware of his position in the game and I do think he could articulate his game to an end jury very well so I do think he's got an outside chance but I don't have him in my top three at this stage my top three I think after this episode watching it twice I really think Jesse is the hot favorite to win this season he I'm putting my backing behind him I was doubting him for the previous two episodes because I thought he was doing some strange things and I didn't understand it but I do think that he really knows what he's doing and there's a lot we don't see as an audience so Jesse is probably my number one pick my number two pick I'm not willing and this is where I'm different to Jake I'm not willing to go away from semi I underestimated semi in the beginning of the Season I'm

57:29 Not going to underestimate him again I do think if semi can pull this thing off and they showed semi being the one trying to drive this vote for a reason it's either good or bad so it could blow up in my face next week or the week after that when he's seen as the person who's playing the middle ground if he can pull it off I think Sammy's going to have the biggest story if he gets to the end and if he breaks this Alliance and also I think as Sammy when I will argue would be the most exciting one at this stage because if Jesse and Carla just wins this game that means the seven is going to stay strong and they're going to run that thing to the end and they're going to win so I am voting for excitement I'm voting for the Apple card to be tipped over Drew you know I like my excitement you know I like my messy bombastic gameplay so Sammy you've got my vote as one of those three people and then the third one is a very difficult one for me because I'm between Cody and Carla I do see options for Cody I do see options for Carla is starting to drop in my opinion because I feel like she's not pulling the trigger when she should even though she knows she should so I'm worried if she gets to the end does she have a story and then Cody we just don't see enough of the Strategic thinking even though whenever he gets told in a group environment this is what we're doing and he overrules it we never really get his point of view why that move was important so that to me is a bit of a red flag I don't think Cody's winning this I'm going to lean towards Carla I'm not willing to take

1:00:09 At 52 points he's got second highest confessionals at 32 so far this season and that has really carried him up until this point and then in third place overall there's none other than Mr Mike gabler at 47 points 25 confessionals he's won a bunch of challenges he's won an individual immunity and he's found an advantage even though he didn't play it correctly so for those that are new that have not listened to this before how we've been giving points this season has been confessionals is a point Team Challenge wins of three points individual immunity wins is Five Points obviously Owen got me there five points this week making the merge was Five Points successful Advantage plays which we are yet to see this season even though so many people have had advantages no one has played anything correctly there's five points and finding an advantage is three points votes against you is minor zero five and then the ultimate one here Jake I think with so many bonus categories it's going to come down to the wire because we've got equal amount of people we've got 20 difference between us there is four different five different bonus points that still have most confessionals for the season most individual immunity wins most advantages found least votes casted against you runner up 25 points and win it 50 points there's a lot still to play for here this season and this is how the point system so far has
