Survivor 47: Episode 7 Review

1:21 Different but I think that I think this felt like the merge episode to me yeah and I know we briefly touched on it last week about you know what is what isn't considered a merge at this point because and you even called hey I think there's going to be another boot before we get to the jury aspect of the game but this did feel more like a merge episode which is ironic because it still was basically two tribes yeah competing in One Tribe going to Tribal Council yeah so they redid the twist of I think they did it in 45 where they split it up at this stage instead of I think they were doing it at like final 10 where they would up in two teams of six or five excuse me and but this time they didn't have both of them go to Tribal Council they just had one so it's like they're just like let's just change this little thing here and it's like okay I what do you think of what do you think of that having one tribe watch the other we this has been like a story line that we've talked about a lot this season of survivors seeing certain things that people will have it liked from 41 through 46 and making little tweaks to them for 47 and for the most part it working now I will say I wasn't a fan of them splitting so early

2:41 In this episode and based off of how the Dynamics broke down I really didn't like it because one Rachel's my winner pick but two yeah she's in a situation whether she's my winner pick or not now what I will say is the fact that what happens later with Saul I feel like that even fixes the mistake that the mistake that they made by splitting it how they did in this episode so I think that even when they make a somewhat of a blunder it's still saved by the fact we're adding this extra thing that you know saves Rachel from potentially having a what's his name Matthew situation from 44 yeah that guy you know mat yeah so I'm I'm glad I'm glad that they were able to get through that with people not being overly angry that someone kind of got screwed right and I mean you could argue that like someone got screwed no matter what because they went into it thinking it was going to go one way and then oh sorry last second somebody gets to leave

4:02 Just put that on you know right now and have a live tribal which I know there's a lot of people that don't like life tribals H I could take them or leave them I think that they were getting a little yeah I think they were getting a little crazy with them for a while there like late 30s Seasons where I was like okay it's like every episode now but so yeah we had a live travel moment which it seemed more like fitting because like literally something was put on them live at tribal yes and they had to adjust and I feel like I know we're kind we're probably going to be going all over the place as for usual but I do feel like the writing was kind of on the I don't think that Caroline was always going to vote for Tiana right there I think that she saw read the room and saw that you know these three specifically Sue are not is not going to want to vote with me so let me just bite the bullet go with my go with them right now and then apologize to Tiana after the game is over you could I think that there's no point for Caroline to be putting on that face when TI goes because Tiana's going in the jury so you don't have to put on the face of yeah the Sarah Len face you don't have to put on the Sarah Lena

5:22 Face because you don't have to worry about this person being on the jury so I do feel like Caroline just kind of went along with it which is smart you know it and you can't dictate everything but I do feel like that live fully put it on Tiana at that point yeah I think that we saw that Kyle and Caroline are willing to make something happen but Sue being the you know stubborn woman she is can't let Gabe go and I think that it's very interesting because she has been told multiple times about Gabe like isn't fully in your corner you know like you should be wary of him so it's just very like either Gabe's got some voodoo magic going on with Sue or she is just like major tunnel vision with this guy you know it has to be that because they even cut like of course they pick and choose what conversations they're going to show subtitles for or whatever and one of the most telling ones is when Gabe tells Kyle Sue is gonna listen to everything we tell her to do T is not gonna do that we have to like Sue is with

6:42 Us Sue is I mean he's been saying it all game su's this gonna follow him this is what he thinks and these people aren't stupid like they see that too and I do feel like everything's going to come to a head at some point and they're going to have to break up one of the two of them preferably Gabe not because I want Gabe to go but because yeah you get rid of Gabe there yeah and then you move on yeah it's frustrating with Sue with Sue because it's I know that she has a lot of fans I get it but right now yeah it from what we're being shown it kind of seems like oh yeah it's Gabe Kyle Sue right and I've seen a lot of people think that somehow Sue and this could change obviously but just I'm just talking about what we have seen now that Sue is gonna go to the end with Gabe and she's gonna be like you thought that you were dragging me along but actually I was this Mastermind all the time you underestimated me and it's like but he was right like so far he's right like every time that somebody has tried to put it on Gabe you stopped it because he knew that

8:02 You would go along with anything he wanted you know what I mean like yeah so far I'm just not seeing that at all like well you out her most important R line at the end when she wins it's I'm actually 57 if anything else you're right she's got wrapped up she's got it wrapped up I don't even know what I'm talking about I'm just I'm just completely wrong I just forgot about that completely but it's it's frust but like we said like we keep saying this season has done really well with subverting expectations with you know who's geneveve and all of a sudden Genevie is main character and oh I think Rome oh Rome's doing a lot oh but Rome's doing a lot but I'm really enjoying it or Andy's doing a lot I'm really enjoying it or Gabe I do think that Sue can bounce back because every there has we have not been shown anything this season to think that no one can bounce back from something you know even just in this episode Rachel bounces back from being put in a minority you know we start the episode if we want to go back to the beginning yeah I was Andy doing exactly what we thought he was going to do it's like okay well I'm done with these people and when you know it's Genevie who's now lost one agent

9:22 Of chaos so she's now with another over here so what did you think of that she's like a magnet she's like a magnet these people yeah I really liked that scene you know of them being like w we're in like kind of positions right now let's just get together like let's just make something happen you know and same thing with Saul you know I think Saul is in a he's in a weird like no man's land like in this game you know like all of the people on his original tribe like they're not really talking about like oh yeah I'm with Saul for sure you know tiny and geneveve don't really talk about that much so to see him be like let's get in with Andy like I'm hitch let's hitch my you know I got to give him something since I voted for him you know I think that's a that's a three right there you know and again I think last week we said it was a setup episode I think this was kind of another setup episode because we didn't get the full Tri merged tribe together so I think that's it's going to be like the tuku four

10:43 The those three and then whatever the hell is happening in the middle and I think we're going to get more clarity on that next week yeah I my favorite scene with geneveve this episode is when Andy gets caught looking for an advantage and just the way that it's shown Jen just kind of looks at him just like oh man that you Old Scamp like as it oh yeah I was hoping that when I got with Andy that he would you know relax a little bit it's like no like and she said that she's felt an attachment to him since his breakdown in episode one so that is it's something that she's always wanted to do I'm just hoping she doesn't end up with buyer's remorse and she gets sniped because it's something that Andy does because I'm I'm really pulling for jevy right now I think that yeah it is another buildup epode and I do think that this is all building towards like a moment whether we get that moment next episode or the episode afterwards I think everything is coming to aead right here and I do think that it's going to be a big move and I'm looking forward to it because we see we see

12:03 These lines kind of you know showing up and you know even subtle things like is Saul gonna go tell Rachel I saved you because he didn't sit there with everyone else when everyone's like who did it who did it fact as I'm watching it I'm like I feel like he's making it obvious but in my like but then I thought about it more it's like okay all six of them are probably reacting the exact same way Saul is right now so no one thinks Saul's acting weird by now because even when he said when they said safety without power he's like what's that yeah I was like when he said that I'm like okay you're trying a little too hard dude but I do think I am curious to see if he goes to Rachel and says that I'm wondering if Caroline goes to Rachel and says oh yeah the plan was always going to get rid of Gabe but then you left so you screwed us or whatever there's a lot of different things that could come about because of what happened this tribal yeah are they going to try to like guilt her be like dude you are totally safe we needed your vote like and then like okay let me just get to Gabe talking about going to rocks Rachel I'm like dude come on like as rash now was like wow okay yeah I guess that would

13:23 Like yeah you're right like it makes like some sort of sense of like okay yeah I'm not just G to like vote for Caroline and then like backtrack immediately you know but like also you then have a one in4 shot of just pulling the wrong Rock like I was shocked like I don't know if they like manipul edited it or whatever but like the fact that Rachel was buying that I was like I mean I don't know like way like I just thought he was like he was going way further than he should like don't talk about like I'm willing to go to rocks with you when you're P somebody that you met three days ago you know yeah it's it seemed like her conversation with Tiana was more I feel like that was the more genuine of the two I feel like that's even what she felt like the more genuine of the two mainly because of this proposed potential all women's thing or you know and the and I texted you about this they just completely glanced over one world's all women Alliance that all got to the final five okay that all got to the final five

14:44 Which okay whatever you know people want to forget that season fine I know I was gonna say like they probably just like want to forget it yeah but the if you're going to give examples of su female alliances there is you do have a one world Alliance right here that you could also go up you don't have to keep going back to Micronesia all right you don't have we have to keep going to that they were only the final four they made it to the final five yeah they made it to the final five and the last man standing was Tarzan so like let's go yeah but I do feel like this even with Tiana leaving I think that we this potential non-male Alliance could have a lot legs moving forward if Caroline can get Sue on the same page and that's where the problem is it could end up being the non- males versus the guys plus Sue and maybe Saul jump ship to with that with you know Rachel and all of them because now depending on what happens Rachel and Saul could have a really type thing especially if Saul doesn't run his mouth if they don't tell anyone that' be such a good Duo that no one would suspect it'd be great yeah I know I was just about to say

16:04 Like I just have a feeling if Saul were to tell Rachel I feel like she would be like okay shoot do I keep this really like Foster this relationship with Saul or do I like kind of try to blow everything up on Saul by telling everyone it was him because like they're gonna see they might see start seeing Saul as like sort of an agent of chaos like hey we had this easy plan you know just take out Rachel and you just blew it up you know we don't want to work with you anymore you screwed us so I'm curious to see what that happens I'm also curious to see like you said they're they have this proposed Women's Alliance and okay they were gonna vote out Rachel a woman you know but I feel like they would understand because it's just like so easy but after she's gone and they've been talking about Gabe I wonder if tiny and Sierra and I geneveve also if they might be a little annoyed that they didn't take out Gabe and they took out one of the women it's like hey I thought we I thought we talked about this we want yeah I don't know get it

17:24 Question is it in Saul's best interest to tell Rachel he saved her or is keep to himself try to avoid bigger Target that's a really hard one in my opinion I know this but like you could go both ways because if you don't say anything keep I don't think that people would suspect you if anything people probably suspect Andy because they caught him looking for something right and if you don't say anything you could hold that you know for later in the game especially like oh if you make it to the end oh it was me that did this or when you really needed you know you're back against the wall and you need allies you're like Rachel that was me right it was either going to be a block of Vote or this but if you tell her immediately that gives you potential potentially an ally but also it runs the risk like you said of the game getting or his game getting blown up if she if she tells the wrong person or she just blows It Up by herself which I don't feel like she would do she's been she was clocked this episode as being the threat Carolina even refers to her as the best player in the game the best player she's seen in a while and a lot of other stuff and like okay cool we're not seeing all that right now but like she's not just saying this like she clearly is seeing something that's not being shown to us so I feel

18:46 Like I don't think that the best player would necessarily goow blow up somebody's game that just help them true that is true because you know with her she's feeling like okay I'm kind of stuck with Gata right now like all of these people lied to me I don't know where I am so yeah I think I if I were Saul I'm thinking or I guess if I'm Rachel I'm thinking probably just keep this between us take any relationship that I can yeah so yeah so the episode moves on and what I'm trying to what else happened there's something big else that happens before the challenge I'm fairly certain or maybe I'm just making it up but we get to the challenge and you know the twist is introduced and I during the little commercial break and Jeff's like oh yeah random Rock random draws are so fun aren't they I'm like no Jeff they're not fun they're not fun but he thinks they're fun so they're fun now and so we get to it's pretty straightforward and the losing Tri oh the losing tribe goes back but the winning tribe they all start hanging out and once again we get to the Andy

20:06 Scene of him just not even at least from what we're shown I think Saul did a way better job at looking for stuff than Andy did yeah but it's Andy it's Andy yeah I know I was like okay going to try a little harder to be you know subtle but yeah Saul ends up finding it and I think it's interesting I swear if they ever subtitle anything like bookmarket you know be like that's coming back later they always bookmark things or not bookmark they subtitle things for a reason one of the things that they subtitled like a couple episodes ago was when Asia gets voted out that episode and Rome is talking to Teeny and they're debating whether to do Saul or Asia and te is trying to convince Rome to do Saul instead and the reasoning she uses is Saul is better at finding advantages than Asia and they subtitled it and I was like I think Saul's gonna find something and then when the next episode came and he didn't I was like huh okay maybe not but then it happens here it's just it's very they're

21:26 Always looking at the full picture with these things interesting yeah it's but according to Jeff they don't the show is not edited a certain way for us to it's like okay all right such crap then a funny thing happened so I don't watch the episodes live I wait until today and so I accidentally went on social media and someone had tweeted out poor Rachel and so I got annoyed because I'm like you guys couldn't even keep your mouth shut for like an hour like I understand that there's no embargo or anything like you can tweet out whatever you want so I went into this episode thinking well Rachel's screwed and all through the episode everything just leading up to Rachel going home even when Saul finds the advantage I'm like okay well he's going to give a block of vote to somebody or maybe he gives a block of vote to Rachel but it doesn't matter because they're all going to vote for her yeah and then when she plays the safety without power I got happy again because I'm like okay I actually don't know what's going to happen this is going to be great and then when was Tiana going home I immediately was like oh man that really that really does suck they could have really gotten Gabe here what about you yeah I

22:46 I had a similar thing I so first of all I also waited to watch it today but even if I didn't I'm on the west coast so I have to wait like forever until I can go on social media CU at 5 p.m. my time the episode starts on the east coast and so I saw somebody tweet out that was BS I'm happy for Rachel but and I was like okay stop breathing don't want to know what happens after that and so in my head I'm thinking okay something good happens to Rachel but I don't know what and then when she like was put on that split team I'm like well some she must find something and then Saul must give it to her so but I didn't know I didn't know that what was going to happen with at tribal so I was still like on my toes with the with the live tribal but I did not know the second that Saul got it okay he's giv it to Rachel and she's getting up out of there and trial goes for 30 minutes we had a 30 minute tribal and it didn't feel like it dragged towards the end of the first round of questioning right before Rachel plays the advantage I did I was like okay I feel like Jeff's asked at least three questions to everyone so

24:06 Maybe let's go to vote but like it never felt like oh man like can we just get to whatever is going to happen next I think it was very even before it got live it was a very engaging Tribal Council to watch and you know we're learning that like Tiana just she just wants to make the jury y'all she just wants to make the jury debatable yeah and it sucks it sucks to see that but Rachel even when Jeff says it's time to vote I'm like they cut to Rachel and she's still she's not doing anything I'm like okay well maybe she's not but why do we have so much time left in the episode so when she when she plays it okay she goes and immediately everyone's in stress mode did you think when we got to that five did you feel like the WIS were going to go one way or the other or did you feel like it's going to be Tiana period I see I did have a suspicion that it was going to be Tiana because I think we even talked about it on the show or maybe it wasn't us but it was somebody in the in the live chat that was saying that Tiana feels like a merge Boot and I think we touched on it we're like yeah think we

25:27 Agree like she does kind of have that Vibe like her and Gabe are going to come to a head or something you know so I was like right at the merge now and she's vulnerable so might be her but and it just didn't feel right that Gabe would go right now it felt right in terms of like the game like get him out like you have the opportunity now like he's kind of splitting you guys up you know Caroline has a reservations about him Tiana really has her reservations about him even Kyle has said like I don't fully trust this guy so but Gabe just feels like he's here to stay you know like there are just those players like I remember when like Christian and Dav vers Goliath when he was proposed as a vote in the early merge I also felt that way it's like some something's going to happen or it's not going to him like I feel like he's just here to stay and I just felt that way with Gabe as well that's edic I think kind of corrupting my brain I'm not even following edic but I have in the past on past seasons and so I think that just like it's just rewired

26:47 My brain in a way where I can't change that and so that's just how I felt here but yeah in terms of like gameplay like should have taken out Gabe in my opinion but beholden to sue is Caroline yeah and you know what good for Caroline I think that Caroline still gets out of this episode without anyone really looking at her as a and that's crazy because I think that Caroline is playing a great game she's been playing a great game since the beginning I think that once again it's Caroline Rachel and geneveve and then everybody else and I feel like right now yes it sucks that you know we got the boot that we did but it helps Caroline out because now those three and especially Gabe know that she is with him and then they move on and even if Kyle goes and tells Gabe oh Caroline did say that you know T is more trusting than you Gabe will probably be like yeah it's true he's not gonna say it like that but like I don't think that Gabe's gonna see that as K's gonna try to Target me because she could have now and didn't Kyle wins another immunity and I know we talked about this last week where well Kyle and they

30:47 Threw out his name and you know I think that Andy's if Andy had a Hit List Andy Pro what was he writing in the sand I don't even know I couldn't even tell I was I was trying to read it but what in my head it was a hit list and in my head yeah it should for him it would be Sam first because he feels he would feel the most betrayed by him now what we are not shown and I'm assuming it might come back next week is him potentially going to Sam saying hey I heard a couple rounds ago that you were the one like you threw out my name I wonder if that storyline comes back yeah I don't know if he's even going to go to him because you know I think he trusts Saul I think he believes it and one interesting thing my I might be misremembering but the way I remember last episode was Sam and Sierra were both part of the conversation of who's the backup are we okay with Andy and they both say oh yeah totally wasn't just Sam was just as part of it as he was so I think thought it was interesting that he just said Sam no mention of Siera I don't know

32:07 What to take from that I don't know if it's like just didn't remember that Sierra was a part of it or like he specifically wants Andy to Target Sam but because in my head I was thinking like Sierra just like just because of the would be interesting of like she didn't even really want to work with Andy in the first place but she did and she voted out anuka so for him to like turn on those two and for Sierra to be the first one to go even though Andy was or Sam was just as you know involved with you know making him the decoy I don't know I so in my head I was thinking like feel like he'd probably go for Sierra first but he's got his eyes on Sam now yeah and I mean and that's probably just stereotyping just oh let's go after strong guy and strong guy in that situation would be Sam so you put the Target on Sam you get rid of him and people like Sue Sierra all these other people can kind of just go like this while all of you know the Egos and the pur ceed

33:28 Threats are fighting each other up here it's the hyen thing from winners at War and I know a lot of people look at the high strategy is like less than but it's like you're trying to win the game this I know they have this big conversation at tribal this time and I think Caroline was speaking on something that I am very adamant about in the in the game of Survivor where it's like yeah you got to make moves but it's stupid to just make moves just to make moves like you have to make the smart move for you then just you don't want to just do all types of craziness just because will wall told me to take do a whole bunch of craziness that's my will wall reference of the day and it's true it's like you're play you play to win the game you don't play to you don't play to I think Tiana even says like I don't want to regret you know not making a big move where I don't want to I don't want to get to the end and have it's like your goal is to make it to the end your goal isn't to just do all the your goal is to win you get to the end by however you know hook or crook or whatever

34:49 So I like the hyena strategy I think there's a lot of people in this game that are using the hyen strategy the sander strategy to I won't say to Perfection yet because none of them have won but I feel like there's a lot of people that are behind the scenes that are doing a lot and then you got the gabes and the Andes and they're going to get sniped sooner rather than later because they're out in the open about all the craziness yeah I think you and I are kind of on the same page on like Caroline is playing that strategy very well right now and I think that she made the right move here you know I know that I was talking about like you get Gabe out but specifically for her I think this is okay I think that you keep sue you keep Gabe not feeling threatened by you know he like you were saying you know she can come back and be like I had the chance to take you out and I didn't like Kyle and I could have just voted you out you know but we didn't and I think this keeps the low profile you know like this

36:09 Wasn't a big move you know like they were forced to vote out one of their own yeah you don't exactly I think that nothing annoys me more in Survivor when people make moves just to make moves like for if I'm on a jury like that would actually like lose you points with me personally like and the this is an very obscure reference but island of the idols I know don't want people don't want to talk about that season but this happened in the Prem merge yes the best part of the Season yes right Missy takes out Chelsea I want to say it's like episode four and it's like her closest Ally but like somebody said like oh yeah I think I saw her looking for Idols or something like or like she had a relationship with Dean and it was like okay but she was your closest Ally like why so that is like one and I think even like everyone on like surviv Reddit and stuff were like what are you doing and that was like the worst of I feel like there's definitely

37:29 Way less of that in the new era and it's a part of the reason why I actually really like the new era yeah it's no longer people making big moves just for the sake of making big moves it's people making moves that make sense then and Caroline says I'm being she says it in tribal I'm doing subtle things she's telling this to everyone that's there I'm being subtle and I guarantee most people aren't going to pick up on that hey she basically just outed herself yeah because everyone's gonna for some reason they're going to look at Kyle but they definitely should be looking at Andy and Gabe depending on how Saul goes about this whole Advantage thing he could be a potential Target Rachel sadly has a Target on her back now and is probably gotten a little bigger but not that big because she was all like if she has that type of Advantage he's always going to play it that's not a big move using sa without power and near a 51 disadvantage that's not I don't think that it's going to paint and even her back people might try to that way though yeah that's true Genevie is going to be fine probably because she's her

38:50 The last time she was aligned with someone that was a lot they went home this time you know I don't the shiter shields the stir Shields and she's coining the strategy she's starting a new movement I'm gonna have to trademark that one to or we will trademark that one because yeah I was like what I said no I it's I mean I know we're broken records at this point but I'm excited to see what comes about from The Fallout from this Tribal Council yeah I think that this could have been a really like boring episode you know it's just it's just Rachel you know and I know that like that person that I whose tweet I started to read but then stopped myself you know was saying that was BS that like you know they got split up by a rockd draw and like Saul just magically is able to save Rachel but let's be real like this just wouldn't be is fun an episode to talk about if that didn't happen so I'm okay with it and I feel like I know we kind of said this last week but like this sets up a lot of things to happen

40:10 Like I'm really excited for the first like full tribal where it's not where there's not an obvious Target in Rome yeah and the person you have to start playing for the jury you'll just yes exactly actually have to like kiss their ass you know yeah coer and Jake what happens if there is no double tribal at 10 will do a final two he's thought of bringing back on his podcast I don't think they're gonna do a final two no I don't see it happening and I don't think they're going to do a double tribal at 10 because that would be what two double or I guess we didn't have a double tribal this episode so real but that would be two times if they split up the merge tribe yeah they just don't do that they merged yeah and if you really think about it that the Rome thing they were also split up for that too so that'd be three times in four weeks that you split up the merge track right exactly and I mean if they don't do a double tribal then wouldn't that mean that there were more people going into the finale like if they just kept

41:30 It where it was one person every time so I don't think that would mean a final two they could just do a double boot episode at some like a legitimate just like here's two episodes back to back basically yeah and that there are ways they can get around it because they recently they've been doing finale with final five yeah so we're at final 11 right now yeah we could do a double boot episode at final 10 without splitting them up and yeah because I don't know three times in four in four episodes of you splitting the tribes up again is like yeah I know excessive yeah definitely I don't even know if I would want a final two I think we the last one we had one was Kagan and I feel like that's a good cherry on top of the final two the final two history of Survivor I'm fine with them not bringing that back not the say like I've enjoyed a lot of final twos but I final 3es I feel like are a lot better yeah I think that the issue with final 3es is that it always ends up
