1:20 Know what we do this year in and year out with Australian Survivor so I thought we would get the Australian Survivor crew back together we've got Kahuna Tom and mcky in the house to break down Survivor 47 action that is right let's start off with Tom on a season of the worst Australian Survivor season you've ever seen to the best Australian Survivor you've ever seen where are you sitting on this season heading in where do you reckon this one's going to rank I'm loving it so far I think this is one of the best seasons I've seen like in a long time like since kagay on honestly I think it's up was going to be the only one that high on the season coming in so you're high on the season as well you reckon this would rank up there with some of the best like that we've seen in Australia mate Genevie TK Soul Andy the these are these are Classics these are bangers that could be the new what do you call it the faces in America on the Rushmore the new Rushmore 100% I see it I see it Kuno what's your thoughts on this season heading into it are you on a level of this being KAG Yan level some of the best characters we've seen in the last maybe decade or two to you know somewhere like blood versus water in Australia where would

2:40 You see this sort of sitting for you coming into the season Gabe said it in one of the opening he had a line in there where he said that he wanted to be on the Mount Rushmore of the of the new era and I think that he's certainly on the right path as far as this season goes it started out like yeah like I'm all in like I did I thought I was going to be like the shameful person that was prepared to like defend it because I think it's amazing so far like it's it really is one of the best like I don't like ranking because I get lost in you know which one's where me but very good season and definitely making a claim for easily the top of the new SE new era if not top of a long time for sure wow big praise coming into this season from both Kahuna and Tom heading into the season Kahuna just to let you know your internet connection is fading in and out so you may want to check that as well maky we haven't heard from you my friend you are coming back from anus you have not watched Survivor users in a very long time how happy are you that we dragged you back into this stunner of the beginning of the season for season

4:01 47 well look you can look at it from multiple different ways you can get milk from a cow just like with the donkey an Australian Survivor is the cow whose milk we all like to drink we all like to mix some Chocolat and banana and strawberries and the new era of Survivor is like milk from a donkey theoretically it's possible to get some good flavor in there but overall it's a sour outcome and with a season like this so far it started off good I enjoyed it episode I thought it was fun yeah that's good Tom thoughts on that wait you liked it Mony I thought it was fun you know I go with some of the boys had a few bives and yeah overall it was just a good time enjoyed it thought it was very entertaining yeah and yeah was that's good not Mount Rushmore yet do you reckon like some of those characters that Tom said could be Mount Rushmore not there yet oh absolutely but like if you're going to make a new era Mount Rushmore it's pretty much like the size of a of a step on a staircase right and I'm just waiting to see if this step of a staircase is going to transform into an actual Mountain just yet but we will see we'll see like so far I think

6:41 This and 44 have great New Era premieres Chris is saying I like the premiere but it's too early to say it's Mount Rushmore potential so Chris for the first time ever agreeing with you Mony on this one and then Richard saying O maky be Wilding say m did one of your parents ever visit the US in their younger days well my dad is well my father is a pilot and he does visit Australia a lot and there is a Survivor player named Moana hope and my last name was hope so there's definitely been a few questions asked but you know in terms of Kyle just yet maybe I need to ask a few more yeah now to put you on the spot here maky who was your favorite standout player for the opening of this week since we you know hearing a lot from you at the moment you're still 50/50 who do you who do you who do you have who you shouting for this season based on the first episode no not going to lie I don't really remember like half of the cast names so I'm just going to quickly search it up but like I mean got you've got me okay thank you thank you yeah no I really like Genevie like Asia is that who her name Asia yeah from Ahab like obviously when I saw her I was like yeah I'm happy to see that a podcaster

9:23 I just remember Tey exists oh thanks for reminding me Chris Jesus I didn't say anything but listen I was harsh in the in the pre-season when I did my cast assessment of all of these players Sue said that she was going to be underestimated as the old lady and I walked straight into that trap I underestimated her as the old lady coming into this season but I think been su's been impressive right I reckon like if you say you can't remember a single female like sue for me definitely one of those characters that stood out well to be fair the only reason I the only reason I remember John and Andy is because well spoilers JN go Ved out guys and Andy and obviously like the whole episode was about Andy's thing like if like no one else is memorable to me yeah kuna are you still there I don't we can't see you moving I'm assuming you're still in background yeah I'm still here can you hear me we can hear you at least but you've got a nice big smile on our on our screen PA with a big smile so at least you look you're looking pretty even though we can't see your face moving or anything like that what's your thoughts on Sue because you had a bit of a reaction when I said sue was memorable in the beginning yeah like she was memorable definitely she got the first

10:43 That's how you do it in survivor of the season and it was early too so you know Jeff was impressed that she definitely for her age she was impressive but like it really feels like in a show where the 41-year-old was just so old and out of touch that despite whatever relationship she thinks she's building it's a hard in this version of Survivor anyway that old AG thing especially the older woman might be a hard one to overcome in this in this tribe at least who knows yeah I think that her having that connection early on with Gabe is good for her game she seemed to integrate really well with her with her tribe and then obviously physically lifting those pieces up on her own I think it was in the first challenge where she was moving them was pretty impressive to see as well not looking like she's going to hold back or stand back to any of the others there in the season so all of those things looked really good but M how predictable is it once again seeing the Malcolm and Denise strategy being sort of you know explored here in the first episode do you think people will catch on to Gabe insu as a as a dynamic do in the game or do you think that they've got some longevity in this game and that people won't expect the two of them to necessarily come together I mean it's an interesting thing right because it's like you've got

12:04 One classic example which is Malcolm and Denise right sorry for my stutter and it's like yes you've got that one great example but how many times have people tried to replicate it and it just hasn't worked out right you know you've got the young stud and the old lady like you know it's just oh yeah face but yeah it's like you know we've seen like you know like people try to make an all girls Alliance so many times over and over again and it just hasn't worked out right and so I think yeah you might as well go for it and if it works out I mean maybe it work out I'd like for it to work out because I really like both of them as characters on the season but yeah I mean I do as well there's a couple of characters that are playing hard out of the gate and that could potentially come back you know to blow up in their faces but that is what new age Survivor is about it is about like for me personally Tom the way I look at it now I know you're coming into the season a bit low maybe a bit deflated by the way M it was a bit of a thing that we did in the beginning they to catch you off guard all of us giving a lot of praise to the season you re really you reacted really well to it which is see and you were very great so it's like maybe that's why like we all think we're crazy but M's like no you guys are right on point of where

13:24 Where I'm going and where my take is on the season but you know obviously you're a bit low on the season coming into a Tom and like you said there may be a few people that haven't sort of gravitated or you haven't necessarily liked a lot of the players or necessarily feel like they stood out for you but if you think about new survivor I feel like you have to have fun watching it survivor Jeff is creating these seasons for people just to have fun not to take the strategy side of it too seriously anymore and just to throw a bunch of things at people it's like watching hamsters on the hamster wheel and you just spin it and see if they can keep up with the speed of the game if you look at it that way and you look at it from a different length can you see some fun and some enjoyment of the Season you say fun and not strategy but it's just like I am a robot if I have the majority vote I will progress to next round like oh my gosh I like the new era is like 41 is my least favorite season of all time didn't like a single person on that cast 44 was boring I still don't associate like the winner as a Survivor winner cuz I fell asleep so many times watching it that I felt like it didn't even happen yamam you thought yamyam was boring no the season was boring they had like three interesting characters so they had to rely on three people who are interesting but like for me yam Caroline and

16:04 With Molly heading back to this specific episode Kahuna I definitely I definitely see where Tom and M is coming in with some of the criticisms of the new era and some of the things that they're seeing and I'm not the highest on it always either but I do feel like there was a couple of bright moments within this and we will talk about the Andy stuff because that was a very low moment for the show but and we will talk about that but for me personally my favorite character has had no air time so far and I was this was my favorite character prior to coming into the season when I did my analysis of the cast and still is after the first episode my favorite character and it's Rome what did you think of Rome coming into this episode the Esports commentator that as soon as Asia went off to go to the island decision Island where they had to go and fight for the supplies he's like social game is so important and then he threw social game right out of the window when he was Idol hunting for the whole episode what's your thoughts on Rome and all of the action that he got into all the shenanigans I mean he was I think he was like was deep halfway into the Waterwell at one stage look he's a great character he's a really good character I think he may have yeah shot his you been a little bit too eager too fast like those people that just he was saying Aisha strategically

17:24 Is making the own decision and right ASA sorry Asia I kind of think he was right but he kind of stuffed that by being so ke again you get that idle fever or whatever it is that people go crazy and really just put like all caution to the wind I really like how I think some people will dislike it but I kind of like how it's clearly it's very much production thumb on the scale right not as far as cheating or as far as influencing any outcomes go but just ensuring that there's always going to be drama to draw from by putting it where they put it specifically so obvious so in the way like it's kind of hats off to them that they do it but I think it's a byproduct or it's a force necessity like when people talk about the twists and all that sort of thing even things like this is a Twist to force drama to make sure that it's in such an obvious place that it will be they'll be found and they have to make that decision I like that it kind of gives that it forces that moral decision do I do it now do I wait and it shows the character in them

18:45 But that is a good thing of the new of the new era that it is forcing that kind of thing whereas in the old version with more time on the clock you can kind of allow for things to naturally happen whereas here it they're definitely forcing the action but the action's kind of fun you know but it is forced for sure and I spoke to maky about this off air maky and I actually had a phone conversation but we didn't really go into because at that stage maky didn't watch the episode yet so we didn't get into any specifics of the episode but I said to him M I reckon New Era of Survivor is your cup of te like if you were out there this game would suit you it as fast it as bold you need to be like if you're not throwing your game down the drain like you know you're not playing Survivor basically and that's what the new era is about what do you think of the craziness and the speed that kuna just spoke about how quickly you need to be out of the gates and how production is forcing the game to move so quickly in New Era Survivor do you like it and also specifically how deep would you have gone with the you know the box within a box within a box to get the idol did you like that mechanic where they were kind of messing with Gabe this episode well like I you know you said we had a phone call conversation about it which we did and I'm going to tell the audience exactly what I said to you I would do phenomenal in a new

20:05 Era game of Survivor simply AG Survivor is a social game and you know a lot of the new era casts don't have one you know it even said at the start of the show where one guy is like oh I had four friends in school I think John's like oh I had none you must be such ginormous losers do not have any bloody friends in school like I'm sorry like you know I'm not I know I'm not everyone's cup of tea but I at least have got a lot of friends you know I was well known during high school as well and all I did was just take the piss out of people how many of your friends be honest Mony how many of your friends from high school do you still talk to how many of them have blocked you by now well actually we've got a solid group of nine people actually Chris you know with the boys the gang yeah no but yeah when it comes to like new era of surviv and stuff one of my greatest criticisms with new era of surviv is all the twists and all the advantages CU like we've you know these last couple years we've sung so much praise for George with how he's able to you know run all the numbers in his head and make magical stuff work because they are numbers to play with someone like George can't operate a new era because half the time people don't even have a vote right yeah and you know like so many Idols are in play like there's all these advantages half the time people don't even use them

21:25 Correctly it just gets wasted or they get fed up with them in their pocket right so I feel like actually damages the game a lot more because now people just don't really care about what survivor has always been a social experiment it's a different game it's a very different game it's a complet different game and it's like I've been telling you for the longest time Chris Roblox Survivor we've got to get on it and see who's a better Roblox Survivor player and which at this point Roblox Survivor is just like the new era at this point so yeah so that's kind of my whole takes in terms of the new era and stuff in general but however when it comes to like the box within a box within a box I loved that twist mechanic I really did and I would have gone all the way man you might as well if your hand's already in the Box you know just go all way deep into the box yeah let me read a couple of comments here blood money is saying what do you think of sweat and sevy being no more big fan of sweat and sevy being gone big fan of production constantly switching it up and trying different things even though I feel like they sort of met us halfway because they removed sweat and Savvy but there was still a different challenge for all of the three tribes to complete to actually be able to get their supplies which I still don't know if we actually need to see that like I don't

22:45 Know if we need a challenge where these tribes are going against each other for Flint and for basic supplies personally Chris is saying Gabe and Sue can't be Malcolm and Denise because they won a challenge already that is true so not going to be Denise and Malcolm but I guess they can still be those Ally members for each other this season and that's what they're sort of going for Jay saying Chris can't stay but Gabe is my winner pick and he's done awesome so far have a great rest of the stream my favorite every time I saw Gabe man I just kept seeing Josh's face for some reason from The Challenge yeah and it really threw me go and he was the Goof because he was up on this rock face and he threw the chest from the from the top to the bottom the whole Camp heard about it and none of them went to go actually look at what the hell was going on blew my mind how lazy they were just sitting in the camp not having a look at what the hell was going on with being such a clutch like I'm surprised he even got away with it to be honest but yeah I still like Gabe I think that he's playing the game hard and I'm always going to rid for those players personally I like the players that sort of do that so that's why Roman gab was probably the two like I don't think either one of them will win

28:06 My brain can't so yeah listen I think don't take everything maky says seriously it's he's joking around in regards to that I'm sure there's lots of people that do actually end up having difficulty with making friends and things like that I think that when you go into Survivor one of the things that do happen though is your insecurities come back so for someone like Andy growing up he definitely was going through a moment there and we haven't spoken about the whole Andy thing as well and I'm going to give mcky an opportunity to defend himself on that as well because thank you I was going to say don't cut away without me apologizing gosh I look so bad but s Sarah sorry I'm really bad with pronunciations I do want to say I'm sorry I didn't mean to personally offend or attack my humor is very extreme humor right and it comes across as very insulting all that sort of stuff this is how I make my jokes and so I'm sorry that they did I'm heard to offend you it was not meant to be for a personal attack at all yeah and I think one of the things that's cultural for us in Australia New Zealand versus the US is like we I think the humor here we joke a lot more with things like in the US I feel like it is seen as being serious a lot of the times when you know we go on our Rants and things like that but it's not meant to be taken seriously in regards to that so

32:06 That just multiple seasons of the same thing and I you know what's funny Chris I smiled when you ask the question is because when I was watching this I was thinking in my head like how does this happen like surely there's like Tom you've gone pretty far wink on Survivor you know like that I'm sure there's some sort of psychometric testing some discussions that I had like how does this person who cracks at the earliest sign the first possible chance of like difficulty he freaking crumbled like what's gonna happen in the rest of the season he's Banu all over and I'm even more annoyed because he got rid of the Pod John I love my pod John's I've been listening to John love it for like nine years before his Empire was even built with pod save America and he was great in this episode like as far as how he talks you could see how great like Jeff talking him up as the greatest narrator in history Survivor was a lot like calm down Jeff like his pant got very tight but I could see why he was so enamored with him and that's why I'm saying like it's even worse that someone like Andy gets on the cast

33:27 To then just kind of [ __ ] the bed so violently it's really like off-putting for me I hate it I hate it so much yeah and it's the thing that and again trying to put myself out of like trying to put myself into Andy's head which is dangerous to do in the first place right is that he obviously had some stuff going on that was that he didn't know was going to resurface like you said he's done a lot of work for many years outside of the show to make sure he's got a good friend circle around him he's moved away from being this insecure person but Survivor strips everything away from you your comfort your normal things that you hold on to that makes you feel like you've progressed in life right and all of that got Stripped Away From Him and it he had a spell right and the like there's a part of me that was thinking to myself you know I remember going to UNI and I did I studied Sport and Recreation and it was all about coaching and things like that and back then they were talking to New Zealand where they wanted to take the scores away from school's rugby so that they start just playing the game for fun and there is no winners or losers anymore and it's kind of like how they just hand out participation trophies these days to everyone this is the whole thing about participation trophies you expect to be applauded for everything you do Mony you know and if you don't get that Applause then you have a moment maybe like what

34:47 Andy had in this episode it was a weak moment and it's one of those things where it got captured on TV it obviously doesn't Define who Andy is as a person beyond the game but it didn't come across as that great it was a bit cringeworthy to watch for me personally yeah I mean it's called reality TV for a reason right like it captures these real moments that like often people would struggle to write like on a script right because it's just so raw and just so natural that's why I personally love reality TVs because we get we should we should like has no thank me for this outfit tonight it was 200 and I bought it today fabulous it tell me I look fabulous I mean fabulous is a word slay but yeah no it's I mean it's like it's why I love Survivor right because it does strip you away and we get so many raw like Beautiful Moments also some pretty ugly moments as well but that's part of human nature this beauty and this ugly as well and yeah and obviously it was just such a raw moment for Andy and while I guess it doesn't come across in the best light I'm glad we did get to say it because we got to know more of Andy I guess like you know as a person right Tom so
