Clip · 8 June 2026 · 1 min

Summary

Chris says that when he started podcasting about Survivor at season 41, his co-host Jake skipped the challenges and he never did. Now, during season 50, he watches at 1.5 speed because it feels like rinse and repeat. 0:00 Remember when I first started podcasting about Survivor, it was back in Survivor 41 with Jake. He was my co-host at the time. Jake would always tell me he never watched the challenges. Like he would forward through the challenges and then just watch the strategy cuz he found it boring. And I was never like that. I always used to love watching challenges.

0:16 But I will tell you what, when we started doing 50, I started becoming to the point where I would watch it at 1.5 speed or something cuz it's just it feels like rinse and repeat the whole time. Like I don't find challenges interesting anymore. And it's a it's such a big component of the show. Like sometimes they will let us watch a challenge for like 30 minutes, you know?

0:34 It can become massive parts of the game. But for something to be such a big part of the show and be boring, I don't think it's good for Survivor's longevity, personally, Andre. >> Yeah, I was never I never really liked the challenges to begin with and this is just like even golden era, like yeah, I'm good, you know?

0:50 If there's an interesting challenge, I'll watch it. And I do admit I do watch some of the Australian Survivor stuff because some of the Australian Survivor stuff, not to bag on United States Survivor that much, but it's just they lack the creativity that Australian Survivor has.
