Survivor South Africa: Return of the outcasts Merge Tribe

0:00 Welcome back to the nullified take where we've got the tnt takes for you on survivor south africa return of the outcast that's right i'm back to talk about the show that is from my home country south africa and for those of you who are not aware and don't follow international survivor for the very first time ever we're actually gonna have a south african season with all stars in it so for us that have been following survivors of africa for a long time we're super excited about the fact that we get to see this play out on our screens we've been aware for a long time that this season was going to come but it has felt like forever since this season was announced until the point where they actually released the cast officially but we have now had both the cast released and also a trailer dropped from south africa to show who is going to be returning officially for this season i did a couple of months ago or weeks ago i can't remember exactly how long ago it was i did my very first bit of content for this season where i had two videos which i will make sure to link at the end of this video where i talked about the five biggest snubs in my opinion the people that i was shocked not to see return for an all-star season and i also had a video where i talked about the pre-merge cast and my thoughts on them so this video will be about the

1:20 Cast that has actually made the merge tribe and we're going to do a quick rundown on a few of them full disclosure there is one player in this cast that i don't know because i've never seen this season before but i will still give you my general thoughts on them and also some of the thoughts that i have just based on conversations i've had with my co-host or one of my two co-hosts for this season we'll talk about it if you're new to this channel my name's chris i do recaps every week on survivor i will be recapping this season as well even though there's gonna be four episodes where am i going to get the time to do this i will be recapping all of that and hopefully have some interviews throughout the season or towards the end of the season as well on this channel also anything survivor related if you want to jump in on lives and take part of the conversation you should be able to do so here on this channel with myself zoe and richard who will be my co-host for this season but without further ado let's have a quick look into some of the things that's been going on in regards to this season alright so as you can see here on channel 24 which is a local news outlet over in south africa it says that the world's greatest game returns to emanate on monday the 18th of july we've got 20 returning castaways coming back to our screens and there you have it a couple of new

2:40 Cast photos there as well chappies dante dino and felix and so forth so go have a look at this article it'll give you a little bit more information in regards to the season it's news24.com and i want to go into really more so the players that are coming back for the merch truck all right so these are the players that will be returning sorry tony is hiding there in the bottom maybe i'll put myself here at the top for this one so you guys can actually see the full cast but these are the players that we're going to be talking about that are returning to this season and looking at the season when they said that they were going to do a returning cast i am very happy with all of the post mergers that are in this season they're all legitimate all stars in my mind the one thing that stood out for me in the beginning was the fact that they didn't opt to do a full all-star season which i was really surprised or shocked by to be honest all right but without further ado let's get into some of these players that are going to be returning and we'll talk about chappies chapman first he in my opinion is the biggest player returning here this season chappies for those that have watched survivors of africa played in the last season he's the only one

4:00 From south africa immunity island that is coming back he's the current record holder for most immunity wins in a single season he's an absolute challenge beast he legitimately equaled i believe the record as well for outdry challenge wins with reward wins as well he's someone that is going to be extremely valuable to teams that he's going to be in for his challenge ability and i'm really interested to see where he fits into this tribe because this is a tribe full of big personalities for instance he was named the aquaman in his season but another person who's going to be in his tribe dante had the exact same nickname as aquaman in that season that he played so can those two guys work together or will it be a little bit of a clash of heads like dante had with rob bentilli and his original island of secrets season where it was a struggle for dominance of that season now chappies are someone when he played the season i think he struggled a little bit with some of the social aspects and there was a few people who didn't get along with him in the beginning but he sort of had someone like santoni and anesu both on that season that helped him bridge that gap when it comes to the social aspect of the game so i'm very interested to see how he plays without both of those two players in the season and if he can replicate his success he was my number one male pick last season when i did the final the fantasy

5:20 Draft i don't know where i'm gonna pick him this season i feel a little bit worried i feel like he maybe is coming back too soon and also the fact that he does not have many of his alliance members playing this season with him i'm worried but if he can get into a tribe swap where he somehow ends up with like a teresa pointy who he does have a pretty strong relationship with and also maybe even dino maybe he can find a way for himself i think he may be able to surprise a few of us but any round that chat piece in my mind stays in the game is a win and i will rank him highly for just surviving if he can get to the merge absolute craziness like this guy is the biggest target if i was out there to play i love chappies great person has become a bit of a friend of mine as well outside of the podcast but if he was going up against me in the season i would want to vote him out before the merge because of the threat that he has of winning back to back-to-back immunities that's a massive threat for anybody who wants to win this game and he was one round away in a traditional season where three people sit in the final he wins last season i'm pretty confident or he has a very good shot but they changed it up and it was a final two and he ended up being the last person voted out so very worried for chappies here coming into this season all right so the second person here on this list as you can see is dante de villiers so we're

6:40 Gonna drop from one aquaman to another aquaman in dante and dante does have some people here this season that he has got in his back pocket that will work with him merrill and himself were very close felix who's in the pre-merged tribe formed a part of that alliance and island off secrets as well so he's got some people he can work with i've got a feeling personally that meryl is going to be one of those players to watch out for this season i think she's really good at networking i think she has got a really good brain for this game and that depending on how dante does this season if any actually to let her take the lead a little bit i think that they both can do really well they also have another island of secret person with them in this tribe which is steffi who they weren't necessarily the closest with because she was in the opposing controlling alliance of that season but dante is not going anywhere before the merge i think and i and i didn't really mention where i think chappies is going to go i think japanese makes it maybe deep in the pre-merged game but gets cut just before the merge and i think that the longer chat pieces in the game the better it is for dante because he can use him as a meat shield ahead of him which may be able to drive him into that merge portion of the game dante is someone that does not suffer fools and i mean him and jeffrey

8:00 Nearly came to blows out there it looked like it nearly came to blows when they were on the island together and he is someone that's not afraid of opposing the big alliances out there he tried to do like a loose change alliance with his season with some of the players that were in the outskirts of the major alliance but that did not fit together in that season so can he find a way to get into a dominant position this season and then run this game i don't know i kind of feel like dante is an early merge boot if chappies doesn't make it i feel like the longer chappies is there the better for him i also don't think that even if he's got some people maybe in this corner i don't know if they want to go up against him in a final or have that risk there that he could win an immunity that would ultimately send them home like merrell for instance there's gonna come a point where she may want to cut bait if she gets later into the game all right so the next person here on the list is gonna be marion de force who played in survivor south africa champions and the champion season was an interesting one let me just get that up she played in a season where there were two champions in the season but it wasn't survivor champions they were like two team captains who were both like national sports stars in this season and they kind of dictated a little bit of the direction early in the game and had somewhat of an influence later on as well i wasn't a big fan of this season because i don't

9:21 Like when they mess around with the survivor format i'm still not even a fan of some of the things they've done to survivor us in recent seasons i'm really an old school fan when it comes to survivor but marion is someone that stood out for me from the season i'm not surprised to see her come back and play again she was a villainous player she played very closely with her right hand person in shane yep shane i always get it mixed up for some of the reasons i always say sean but anyways marianne and shane were very close that season they were in the title lines and obviously she's got him in this game as well people will know about their alliance similar to how they're gonna know about merrell and dante's alliance i feel like felix being a strong connection might not be picked up as quickly but marion is someone that is a lovable villain she does not mind lying cheating stealing to get away ahead in the game and i feel like she does have a good strategic mind on her tribe struggled and they kind of cannibalized themselves quite a lot before the merge and they lost a lot of numbers by the time they got to the merge she was out of the numbers and her and shane the only thing they had was two idols she had an idol and shane at an idol and she incorrectly played her idol on shane to save him that season which ended up in her going home early that season and it's a misplay people could say yes

10:42 One of the not so smart moves to making survivors to play an idol on someone else but then again if you're trying to get further in the game you've got to take these kind of risks and you've got to keep your alliance members in the game it didn't work for her there but i'm very interested to see what she can do in a season such as this will people remember the fact that she didn't mind lying backstabbing and stealing and she's also gone through a bit of a personal journey i think since the game she's gotten a bit older like everybody does and i think that she might have a completely different mindset coming into the season the thing is the longest shane is in the game i kind of feel like it's going to be an anchor potentially to marianne's game because he's going to be a very big target coming into this season as well but overall my feelings on marianne is good i think she is the lesser she's going to be looked at as a lesser threat than shane out of the two of them and i think if they're going to target someone that she's going to be able to survive longer than him this time around that's my call on her this season alright so next person here is going to be meryl and merrill sorry i still can't pronounce your last name i've tried so many times i keep forgetting i'm horrible with names as i'm horrible with names as it is and for some other reason i just can't pronounce that let's have a look at merrell here now merrill is someone that i rated highly in her season she was in an alliance as

12:02 I mentioned with dante she had some good reads in the game she was socially very well connected and she got voted out before dante because people looked at her as a bigger threat someone that potentially could pull some numbers over to their side to play a more strategic game dante also screwed her over when she found an idol and she's capable of finding those idols at a challenge and he said to her that everybody saw her find the idol and then she had to face it up to everyone so everybody knew about it and she had to play it eventually so i feel like dante kind of heard her game more than anything else but she to me seems like someone that is extremely well connected in the survivor community she has stayed active in the survivor community i've been able to have her on the podcast to recap survivors of africa immunity island so she watched that season closely and i think she's gonna do really well this season like if i had to say wild card pick for someone that this type of season will fit to go all the way and potentially even win the season she could definitely be that person one worry that i do have for her is she seems to be an extremely loyal person and in survivor you've got to be flexible not loyal so if dante becomes an enemy or felix is an enemy or whoever else she's aligned with in the season becomes a big enemy will she be able to cut them and move on in the game i kind of feel like she might be better off alone and not sticking her neck out

13:22 Too far for people this season but i'm very excited to see what meryl is going to bring to the season and let's not forget she is still in shape she still does her pilates or yoga very active so i think she's there's no in my mind there is no risk for her to be voted out prior to the merge i just don't think she's got that level of a target on her back and yeah we'll talk about another person from their season that i think will come in with a massive target pretty soon all right so next year on the list is palesta tau plus it's only 31 well so a lot younger than what i expect because like her season was quite a while ago she also played in an earlier season six survivors of africa philippines she's a fan favorite someone that was able to find idol clues someone that had this big rivalry with tom from her season who ultimately became a spoiler alert the winner for that season and she's also someone have you ever watched the us season where adam went up to try and get the idol from the podium in front of jeff she actually prior to adam doing that found an idol in front of nico panagio and i don't even know if i'm pronouncing that right but she found an idol in front of nico the host for survivors of africa at the podium at the exact same spot where adam was looking for it so obviously adam was inspired

14:42 By seeing pelessa find that idol she had a big strategic game and she seemed to be someone that could play a very good strategic and cutthroat game now the problem she had was that she went in low on numbers to the merge and ultimately did not play her idol got voted out of the game i feel like her coming into the season she's loved online and the community loves her but i don't know if people that are actually playing with her this season sees her as a big enough target to immediately target in the beginning of the game so i'm not too worried for her i think she could make the merge the only problem is if she doesn't pull her weight and challenges that could be a risk for her early on in the game but i would not be surprised if she kind of goes under the radar one thing though that should be mentioned here for pelessa coming into the season is that she is gonna be on a tribe here with tony and pk from her season so the three of them i think automatically could form an alliance to work together here all right so talking about pk let's get into pk next here pk chaos is coming back he is going to be a physical presence this season he's gonna fit in i think to a big degree with the boys both i think dante and also chappies will want to keep the tribe strong probably early on

16:02 I don't see him going out early his biggest flaw in his original season for me was the fact that he overplayed his hand or that's what it looked like as an outsider he overplayed his hand too early by voting out a big alliance member and tevin who surprised surprises also back this season so i'd really hope that they get to a point where they can either play the game together or we get that interaction he's in the pre-merged tribe he was in a great alliance with him i thought they could be like similar to what kiran and tyson was last season i thought they could be that level of tightness but ultimately he did betray him and wanted to take control because he felt like tevin was playing his game for him he's also good at finding idols you know he's going to be controversial in the sense that he won't stand back from fights and things like that so he'll bring a bit of that drama a little bit of that excitement i don't know if pk's got a winning game in him yet and i don't know if he's gonna overplay that's my only fear for him i've had him on the podcast he's done a recap with me before one of the nicest guys that you'll ever meet but i'm a little bit worried for him in that sense but he does have a built-in alliance with palesa and also tony so i think to a certain degree that might keep him safe and in the numbers for a while because if you've got plessa tony and you also get something going with the boys with merrell maybe over there i can already potentially see

17:22 An alliance forming between pelessa tony pk merrell dante for instance i could easily see them pull in like a core type of alliance especially if the previous seasons the people that have played together want to stick together they could easily have that numbers advantage as well all right so next we've got shane coming in here also from survivor champions similar to marianne he was a big player in his season wanted to play a cutthroat game similar to marion they were left and right backstabbing people making deals checks were bouncing but they made it to the merge without the numbers he tried to convince a few people in the majority alliance to start coming over to him and working with him but ultimately fell short and got voted out with idols in his pocket so he's a player that's going to come back who wants to play a big game and redeem himself definitely one of the more strategic masterminds out there the worry that i have for someone like ashane but that people know he's a villain people know he'll lie and cheat to them they know he can find idols and he's also one of the older guys in the tribe so i think if they're going to look at strength shane might find himself in trouble early in the season if they lose some immunities being at the age of 50.

18:35 So i'm a little bit worried here for shane coming into the season okay so the next person that i'm going to be talking about is someone that i'm really excited to come back out and play this game again it's actually someone that i didn't know if she ever would want to play the game again and it's steffy from island of secrets she was a part of the very dominant amigos alliance that season she got extremely deep into the game and to me if you've got an all-star season they did say from the start they were not going to have any finalists in the game so that automatically cut out both robin tilly and also nicole from that season but you need to have one of the amigos back in the game and steffy is someone that's an athlete she's done athletics at the highest level she also played rugby for south africa for the women's team and that's a serious sport to play and it's a contacts board think female football i guess american football if you're from there so she's not afraid of the confrontations she's very opinionated a big worry that i have for someone like steffy coming into the season is that she has got a record she basically took out both meryl and dante and their season and i don't know if steffy stayed in contact with everyone afterwards i just don't know what happened she's probably most well known for the fight that she had with jack burger who's also one of my favorite players it's so funny that i love both steffy and jack and people always

19:56 Feel like you can only love one or the other but i really enjoyed both of them in their season so i'm hoping steffi does well this season fingers crossed there's no reason to vote it out from a physicality standpoint she's going to help their team win but the big problem that i have is that people might not like her being opinionated like seeing steffi and dante both very opinionated people on the same tribe it's gonna be absolute gold to watch but the key thing here is can she work with both merrell and dante and can they form something strong with like a palestine tony and a pk who are all from the same seasons that may determine how far they're gonna get but i mean looking at this tribe on paper they're stacked they've got chappies they've got dante they've got steffi tony's not bad in challenges they've got tajan they've got i don't know who else didn't mention merrell like this is a stack tribe on paper they should not be losing any of the tribal the physical sides of things when it comes to challenges but we know that the game is not just about physicality all right so i'll talk about jean very quickly he played in survivors of africa season four i believe he got into like top four or he played a very deep game that season i never really watched his original season at all so it's the one player i don't have much information on i do know that my co-host richard have met him in real life and he said that the guy

21:16 Isn't beast and i can see it by his physique he might even be in better shape than the likes of chappies and dante who's a lot younger than him i believe he's in his 40s already but apparently he's a rock climber he's into martial arts so he played a very villainous strategic game and apparently is a really good player so i do want to go back and watch survivor south africa season 4 to see how he performed that season it's a person i don't know much about and also don't know where to write him in my pre-season rankings because if you look at this here he's the only person from season 4 here on this car so he doesn't have any pre-built alliances unless he's met some of these other players outside of the game at events so i don't know where he is going to end up all right so lastly we've got tony here tony obviously played in polissa and pk season he she was in a very strong alliance with pk that season and also vanit and a couple of other people there but she ended up falling short being betrayed by vanner very early on she is someone that is definitely very strong-minded similar to i would say your dantes and your stiffys of this world so you've got three people here that could just clash heads from the start and it could cause a lot of controversy early on in that tribe or con it could cause a lot of conflict within that tribe very early on but tony is someone that i definitely want to see do well she is a friend of the channel she's been on the channel a few times and

22:36 Someone that i love to see play the game the first time that i want to see out there again and hopefully she can find a way to the end i don't know what tony's way is going to be to the end here if she doesn't work with both palesa and also pk early on but i will say this tony is one of the people in this tribe that is probably the most well connected in the survivor circle she's very active online she gives back to the fans quite a lot so from that aspect i feel like she would have hung out with a few of these people outside of the game going to events and stuff like that so hopefully there is a way for her overall the postmates tribe looks stacked if you had to choose between the post merch and the merge tribe who do you guys think has the most stacked tribe i mean if you look at experience you can't see them going wrong but you kind of think that if the pre-merged tribe does lose two or three early challenges there will be a mix-up and they will split the tribes up do a tribe swap to get other dynamics in there overall that's my thoughts on the merge tribe for survivors of africa i hope you guys are as excited as i am to see how this season is going to play out stay tuned to this channel hit the subscribe button hit a like button and we will be back shortly with a pre-season draft and also some other content before
