0:54 Welcome back to the Nullified Take Podcast where we've got the TNT takes for you for this season this season of The Amazing Race Australia. I'm the big Kahuna and I'm very happy to be covering a great season coming out with some amazing podcasters that are joining. I'm putting my own Avengers team together here and I'm really happy that I'm being joined by some of the greatest minds in podcasting and amazing race historians here because of course we've got a broad gamut a range of people here. I want to introduce to everyone for the first time on camera been doing stuff behind the scenes and trying to work out what we can do with the Nullified Take but V, welcome to the Nullified Take and The Amazing Race. Oh, thanks for having me. I did say we have some a deep range of different you know, experience with The Amazing Race.
1:45 Tell us how you're affiliated with The Amazing Race and what your experience is. Well, I tell you what it's one of those ones one of those TV shows that you know, if a friend says oh, you should watch this you're like yeah, I'll put on the list." And it never goes on the list. Right. This one was one I actually put on the list and I've been meaning to watch because big fan of all the similar kind of TV shows and I've started watching it. So, I am very new to it, but I started watching it and I am I am hooked. I think can I do any of these challenges? No, I cannot. And it's very exciting to watch. Tevi comes up comes to this game as a relative newbie. He hasn't watched any iteration of it in the past. That's good cuz you've got to balance here. We've got to balance. We've got the experts they're going to help us both out, V. Tomac Mr.
2:35 Thomas Mack, welcome to the show, man. I'm happy to be you joining us for The Amazing Race after doing Traitors and getting all your insights and having to deal with the personal barbs that you can actually take shots at me in person. I appreciate that. So, I'm really happy to have you for The Amazing Race as well. Your particular brand of snark and sarcasm is always appreciated. Thank you very much. Yeah, it's good to be here. as a kid growing up, you know, Survivor and Amazing Race were my two big shows. So, it'll be good to like, you know, finally comment on The Amazing Race, give my opinions of no doubt what's going to be a lot of stupid moves by a lot of stupid people. So, I'm excited for it. And we are of course joined as well by Michelle here. Michelle, if you're not aware in the reality competition sort of world that we dwell we delve into doing a podcast, if you're on any of the Australian shows you watch, whether it be Hunted, Survivor, Traitors, anything like that, you go to Facebook and you look for people who want to discuss similar things, you're going to come across Michelle's name a lot.
3:40 She's royalty in the Facebook groups world that it is. Anything that's reality television competition reality and there's a Facebook group for it, Michelle's probably the admin for it that does a lot of work behind the scenes and a lot of time so that we can enjoy it as fans and now she gets to give you her own in insights personally into a show that she's got a really strong deep long relationship with Michelle. Hi, I've yeah, I've watched it for yeah, what is it? 22 years. love it. Love I've watched every US, every Canadian, every Australian episode and oh, about half the Amazing Race Asia episodes. yeah, you could say I'm a little bit in love with the show and yeah, I want to be on it so bad that I do my own little races when there's races around Sydney or I've been to Surfers and I missed out on one in Melbourne cuz this one there was one in Melbourne and yes, I'm a bit bummed that I missed out on that one but I'll be doing that in the near future when it's on again.
4:49 There you go. So we got the full range. I've my experience with The Amazing Race is I've been watching the US one for since it began as well. Michelle, I probably watched maybe 90% of the seasons. There's probably one or two in along that timeline that I've missed. For the Australian one, I was very familiar with the Grant hosted seasons and then when like they took a bit of a hiatus and break and time and then when they came back and I went Beau Ryan. No, thanks. I'm out. Like I always felt like The Amazing Race with specifically with Phil in the US version and then Grant Bowler carried along that almost like a clone, I guess. They wanted to repeat the success of the US but that very serious Phil is certainly one of the more serious of the of the reality TV show hosts when The Amazing Race comes around and then when I heard Beau Ryan was the host, I was like, "Nah, I'm out." but what knowing that it's come back, Tom recommended last season as a great season to watch and I watched the first 18 minutes of this season.
5:47 I watched the first couple episodes of last season. So, I'm like I'm in. Bo Ryan is freaking awesome. He's funny. He's personable. He's like he gives that Yeah, I appreciate it. What do you all think of the fact that first of all we have a host that is a former footy player like in comparison to like I said Phil Keoghan with the US with the old version with Grant Bowler. Some of these reality shows take themselves very seriously as is you know with the host themselves. But Tom, you're familiar with we just come off Roger Corser with The Traitors. What do you think of Bo Ryan's hosting with a show like this? I think when I first started watching the show I love how he like he does little bits and pieces of certain challenges and usually like you know makes a fool of himself for the camera.
6:37 But I've noticed in the past couple of seasons his jokes have landed flat more so than you know like got the mark. So, hopefully this season whoever's writing his jokes steps it up a little bit because yeah it's been rough. I'm looking forward to seeing how Bo and George communicate cuz like I feel like Bo's more of a Simon kind of guy than a George kind of guy if you catch my drift. Now, Verity Michelle and I both from New South Wales, Sydney. Tom's from Brisbane. So, he's fully aware of rugby league and stuff. Being from Adelaide, do you even know what a Bo Ryan is? So, did he play some sort of sport or Yeah, no idea. I just thought oh that's a lovely face. He's excited. I do feel that from the little bit I've watched he there does seem to be that sort of pull towards more of a family friendly kind of vibe.
7:32 He you know some someone that your kids can laugh at as well which I think is really great. And it's it's he plays sport. Oh good on him. That's that must be fun in his spare time. That's good. He wasn't very good at I mean, he played for Australia. He's at the highest level, so you know, you can give him his flowers. For a couple of seasons. But we are of course talking about the show The Amazing Race. It's season 7 for The Amazing Race Australia. What makes this season a little bit different is that it's an all-celebrity season. We've not seen that before. Michelle, with your vast experience of The Amazing Race and wealth of knowledge, what do you think this is going to do for the format if anything? Does it add to it? Does it take it away? Do we want the everyday Joe in there or what do you think of the celebrity slant on it?
8:23 I think it's good for a change because, you know, it can always build up the fan base having celebrities and then other people watch the show and say, "Oh, this is a good show. I might try it again next time." Also, I know a lot of people aren't, you know, keen on celebrities, but they do bring a lot of people in. The US did one where they did Big Brother versus Survivor versus Amazing Race races in teams. And that did quite well in that it brought people in from other franchises other shows and it went quite well. I think it's always good to see celebrities especially when you know them if you know, I know quite a few of them and you've seen them in their own shows and you know sort of how they are in their own shows and I think it'd be quite funny to see them in a high-pressure situation like The Amazing Race and see how they cope.
9:14 And I think that would be quite interesting to watch instead of just everyday normal people normal people. There aren't really many normal people cast anymore. But I think it will be interesting to say the least. What's your thoughts on the celebrity slant on it, Tom? I it's interesting. I it's very well timed. I don't know how I think the last season was pretty long. Like it was a really cool gimmick with the two starting off with two races that merge into one. But I don't know how much people loved it. So having like you know, your celebrities, your King Georges and who were the other ones again? I don't know any of them. No, like Grant Denyer and all that. yeah, like I reckon they'll pull in some good audiences. I'm keen to see I don't know Grant Denyer go like have to wrestle some person from some random country.
10:11 Like that sounds great. I sign me up for that. So yeah, I think it'll be a lot of fun watching these people hopefully fail a lot. That'd be fun. Look, the benefit of you casting celebrities in shows like this is that you know that you're going to get a veteran performer normally. At least for the confessionals, they know how to perform to the camera. They're going to give you good content when they know that it's there as well. And I think for a race for a show like The Amazing Race specifically you know, as far as wealthy rich people goes, this is one of the competition shows that kind of suits their lifestyle. A lot of these people would be used to traveling. No problems. Like the thing with The Amazing Race, sometimes you get that the team from rural Australia that's never been out of their country town or whatever. And the enormity of a show like The Amazing Race and being in another country can be the challenge in and of itself.
11:05 Let alone the actual roadblocks and all that sort of thing. But with people like this, they're probably quite used to traveling. They're used to going around the world. They've been to a lot of different places. And it kind of adds a different level of complexity for the non traveler versus someone a season like this where we might see them be a little bit more adept. You know what I mean? Yeah. Definitely. So whether they'll be adept at, you making poo mud houses and you know, doing that sort of Yeah. base stuff that they would normally not do in their real life. Well, none of us would really, but you know, some of the things that they do on The Amazing Race are definitely you know, out of your comfort zone sort of stuff. Absolutely. So, we're going to be doing a preview tonight for the upcoming season looking at all the teams.
11:59 And I thought we might do it as a bit of a tier ranking kind of thing and see if we can discuss amongst our four big brains and the all the awesome that's in the chat figure out where we think people might come if there's a consensus there or you know, even better if there's not. Maybe there's going to be fireworks on the podcast kind of thing. So, we'll have a look at that, but we're starting tonight as the preview episode for the upcoming season which airs tomorrow and Thursday. But going forward, we're going to be doing Sunday nights as your regular recap. to Tuesdays only for this preview session. And let's have a quick look. We do have a couple of people in the comments that I wanted to send a shout out to and say hello to everyone before we get into it into the muck. before Danica B. Hey guys, I'll try to listen while getting everyone ready and of course while listening while driving everyone to work. If you're still in by the time I get to the computer, I'll join the chat. Great. Danica B, a big fan of the Nullified Take.
12:51 She's in on all of our shows. Or is it this is perfect. I'm at the gym, so can't wait to lift and listen. I'm at the Please be careful right now. Oh. Yeah. I mean, I just finished coming from the gym. Like that's why I was able to Or is it they've watched 10 seasons of US Amazing Race and nearly all of Australian. That's good. Michael Hope, Mucky himself. Complimenting the stacked podcasters. Good on you, Mucky. before Danica B talking about Beau Ryan. I find him entertaining. I thought the bad jokes were intentional. Definitely difficult to feel. I think they are intentional. they are intentional. I think they are. They're like dad jokes. Mhm. He's pretty good. Like I remember just the first thing last season, I think they were trying to figure out doing spices or something.
13:43 So, of course he immediately puts this full mouth full of spice and has to spit it out because it's, you know, he's good. You wouldn't see Phil doing that. Like putting himself like as the butt of the joke, you know. Mike, you're talking about the amazing race, but why not talk about the amazing Tom? I mean he does that for that just comes by itself. He talks and it's amazing. We know that. Thank you, Mike. Mike you're getting some love when he's not even on the podcast. Shout out from before Danica B. and then they send a bit of love back and forth. what did before Danica B said, "For me, I think I only know King George so far as a celebrity. They're all just regular people to me." I think that's one of the difficulties that we have in Australia when we have a celebrity show, we end up having to do celebrity in air quotes because our version of celebrity doesn't exactly fit with the world sort of standard of what celebrities are.
14:39 But I think they did a pretty good job this season. So, we'll have a look. We'll have a look for sure. Oh, look. Aussie said, "Chuck me in a sumo wrestler against everyone. Let's see how many I can take." Whereas Mike knows he wants to see Kahuna sumo wrestler Chris. My money's on Kahuna. Chris can do a lot of things, but I don't think sumo wrestling is going to be one. So, let's get into the teams for that are competing. The Amazing Race season 7 celebrity edition. Again, the term celebrity is a little bit tough, but we're going to make do with what we can. I'm going to share screens with everyone. Who's up first? I heard there was like oh, yeah. you Sorry, you go Kiana. That's all right. so I made some tiers here.
15:29 I don't think I don't know if there's enough. I wanted to sort of get your input. Oh, actually sorting them. Yeah, we'll sort them out. Where do we think they'll sort of be? It gives us a bit of leeway so we don't have to be exact ranking. Yeah. We're just putting them in tiers. Is three enough? Do we want four like are there people like maybe So what right now we've got amazing racers. So these will be the top tier kind of teams, middle of the pack, and early exit. That's good. sometimes in The Amazing Race is sometimes maybe like the second tier people they're good but we don't ever think they're going to be at the end kind of thing or are you happy with this sort of layout? No, that's good. I thought eliminated was one and I was like does that mean as soon as the race starts they're instantly that bad they're gone? No, like obviously we'll have to put their pictures move them down.
16:19 Move them. As we go forward. So we'll see if we bring this out every week then we can at least update where people were. Did we get it right? That sort of thing. So that's what we're looking at. These are the three categories: amazing racers, middle of the pack, and early exit. Again, not a lot to go off of as far as their capabilities or adaptability to a game like The Amazing Race. But we're going to make our judgment calls anyway cuz that's what we do here. We're judgmental people, okay? Okay. Let's have a look at the first team. So we have Ally and Angie. I'm going to do something here. Let's see if this Oh. Yeah, okay. All right. Just so that I mean people watching on their mobile phones is going to be like what is this a podcast for ants? We'll go through it anyway.
17:10 So Ally Simpson is a 25-year-old Australian-born singer, model, actress, and host. Ally was inspired to have her own tribe sustain business after watching her brother Cody rise to stardom. She gained notoriety by becoming the youngest nationally syndicated radio host ever, reaching 7 million weekly listeners on Radio Disney. and she's joined by her mom. Angie is a self-proclaimed momager to daughter Allie and Australian swimmer and singer Cody Simpson. She's a children's book author and has also appeared on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Angie's very much single and I'm interested in finding her new love on the race. Mom and daughter will hope will both be distracted by an attractive male team. Oh, that might go into where we rank them. if there is one. Allie and Angie are often mistaken for best mates or sisters. Their cheeky relationship means they're always up to something. Angie says you all can expect humor, naughty side to mom and daughter are going to have to a naughty side that mom and daughter are going to have to control.
18:06 Our first team, Angie and Allie. You were you were mentioning something before Michelle that you didn't pick up that they were actually mom and daughter at all. It They don't look like mom and daughter. Mom's kept herself very well or if she's been in The Housewives of Beverly Hills, obviously she's had a little bit of help there. so yeah, they look very similar in age. I So do we know who these people are as far as celebrity That might have to be a question we ask for every team. Yeah, Allie was on Get Me Out of Here and she was you know, she was quite endearing. For someone who came in there and everyone thought, "Oh, she's going to be a bit abrasive." But she was she was endearing. There you go. So I'm a celebrity she was on I'm a celebrity. and The Masked Singer. Okay, there you go. Tom, what do you think of Allie and Ange?
18:56 Angie. Well, I'm getting All I'm getting from this team is couldn't afford the brother. Well, I mean if Cody Simpson was on like that'd be great like and I mean he's also like a like a he almost made it into the Olympics of swimming recently. So like you would like that would have made the team like stacked but yeah no I guess I know someone they're related to which celebrity in Australia pretty much I mean Dannii Minogue's made a whole career out of it right? Yeah essentially. I don't I mean I had I didn't think too poorly of them until I saw the Beverly Hills Housewives part so that brings them down in your in your Yeah. maths your Amazing Race maths. I hope the mom has to eat like the foulest thing for a food challenge. Oh I will watch that on repeat and I hope that's the case.
19:46 Doesn't say about that. She didn't like that comment at all. Yeah that's fine. Well I'll tell you what I've seen every episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and I do not remember Angie. So But you know what I think look they look like they've got hustle. They look like they're willing to do what it takes. They don't look snot like they're snowflakes. Yeah. To be able to have a career this varied and to be labeled as a momager I'd put them in middle of the pack towards Amazing Races. Middle to Yeah I don't want to shoot my wad too early. I would put I put them in middle Because yeah she might Angie might be a bit spoiled and you know it'd be funny to get her to do some of the eating and stuff like that.
20:40 But if you're watching those Housewives they are pretty cutthroat. They know how to get things done. They know how to get their way. I can see If there's champagne on the table they know how to throw it with accuracy precision straight into faces of whoever's they're talking to. Yeah. Yeah. That's it. Could be good. So what do you think Tom? Are you happy middle of the pack? I'll concede middle of the pack but I think as the tier list goes on they should be towards the bottom them down? Oh, okay. So like they're on the cusp of early exit middle of the pack to me. So our first team ranking is middle of the pack for Ali and Angie. next we have Bec and Kate. Oh. So this is Bec Judd. I think probably one of Australia's most famous WAGs.
21:33 Was married was married to Chris Judd. I think that's what it was if I'm if I can be blokey and like sports for a second. AFL player from Western Australia. So she is a multi-hyphenate because of her WAG status turned that into entrepreneur, model, personality, all around kind of entertainer. And she is joined by her sister. Is that right? Kate's her sister. So what do you think of this duo? Rebecca and Kate. Are they bringing a lot to the race? Top four right there. Easy. Yeah, top four right there. I think they're top three because they're fans of the race. They've watched it. They know what to do. I was going to say top two now. They're fans. here's What were you basing it off then, Tom?
22:23 You were top four immediately out of the gate. I was going to say two and then I changed to four and then Michelle said three. So now I'm like, okay, yeah, top three. Look at Look at that Look at that six-pack right there. Like I mean you can't see it in that picture, but I've got a I've got a photo right here. Fitness means nothing. Fitness means nothing in this race. You need the brains with the fitness. I can see yeah, there's a brain there as well. At least one of them. smart as well. That's why I'm putting them up. What do you think, babe? Are you familiar with Bec Judd? I'm actually disagreeing. I mean, I'm very impressed by the juggles being a mum to four and working. You know, that's pretty impressive. But I think if anyone's going to have a meltdown, I think it's going to be one of these two. little bit too prim and proper. Maybe not maybe get some barley belly or something.
23:14 Yeah. Mhm. Willing to be surprised. So that's an aspect we have to think about. Do the celebrities, the hoity-toity people that we know as our celebrities, are they going to be able to get their hands dirty and eat all the street food that they would eat in I think the first stop is New Delhi. Like is New Delhi going to cause troubles for some of our people who don't like dealing with economy class and are used to the finer things in life. Is what you're saying, V? Mhm. Absolutely. Being a wag, she'd be used to a certain way of life. And I think exactly, she's fit that they both look insanely fit, but that's not going to get them through eating something gross kind of challenge. So where would you put them as an early exit? Middle of the pack? See, my instinct is to put everyone in the middle of the pack because I don't I think I think they may be first early exit for you.
24:14 Them at the bottom, but I'm willing to concede. I'm the newbie here, so What's Kahunas take? What would I know? Yeah. Okay. Both Tom and Michelle are saying at the top. You're saying at the bottom. We do split the difference by landing them towards the in the middle. Are they going to be towards the top of the middle, towards the bottom of the middle? At least But that kind of So I mean, we're two in here. We haven't gone that far in. So you reckon there, Tom, makes more sense that they're ahead of If I can Yeah. I also what V said about the meltdown thing. I've got another contestant tagged for a meltdown. Like I'll wait till they come up, but There's expected to be a few, right? There could be a couple of them for sure. There's one There's one I'm 99% sure of.
25:05 And I'm basing everything off looks. Like, I've got the words here. Like the little bios for them. I'm not reading it. It's all about It's all about the faces. vibes Yeah, that's how accurate I can get just from the vibe check. Okay. So, we'll leave them there for now and we'll see how they kind of back up if there's too many in front of them, too many below. We'll figure it out. But next we have Ben and Jackie. Ben and Jackie Gillies. Ja Jackie Gillies is Australia's most sought-after psychic medium, author, businesswoman, philanthropist, and television personality. Wow. That's a mouthful. medium she's appeared on five seasons of The Real Housewives of Melbourne and roughed in the jungle on I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here. She sold out two national shine it up tours, which captures her message of self-empowerment. Since starting a career in banking, Jackie has leaned into her adventurous and entrepreneurial spirit and intuition to lead an intentional and purposeful life.
25:58 That's a lot of gobbledygook. but Jackie is racing along her side her husband, who is I think he's Ben gives me If Silverchair was like the Australian Wish version of Nirvana, Mhm. like tell me he's the drummer is not trying to be Dave Grohl here as well. Like, look how he Oh, totally. Ben Gillies, this the drummer from Silverchair, Jackie's wife, who is probably most famous for Desperate Housewives, I assume. I think. As far as the reality TV space goes. Real Housewives? I mean, that's Yeah, Real Housewives. Sorry, not Desperate Housewives was the Real Housewives of Melbourne. So, Ben and Jackie. What are we thinking about Ben and Jackie, folks? let me just say first off, I know psychics and Jackie is not the most sought-after psychic in Australia.
26:54 At all. Like I didn't even know she was a psychic and I know that psychic in Australia. So, sorry Jackie. Sorry, no. You can claim housewives but not top psychic, sorry. I'm not sorting out I'm not sorting out for any psychics personally, but I look I like Silverchair. Love your Love your life and the straight lines amazing songs. But that bandana is not fooling anyone. Early exit. One thing. So, it's the bandana hiding male pattern baldness is your clue for the outcome of the Amazing Race. honestly, I remember reading like he was in Silverchair and then I instantly forgot he was from Silverchair because that bandana just like I wanted to get into the more of their music, but I'm reconsidering it right now.
27:46 Okay, early exit for Tom. Michelle, where did you put him? Where do Where do you have them? I put them as early exit. Early exit, okay. I put them as middle of the pack. Like And V? I think I'm going to have to go early exit for these guys as well. Ah, consensus on that. I don't know. Like I'm I wouldn't The thing that gets me about Jackie, she was when you said if there's going to be meltdowns or whether they can hack a you know the lifestyle change. Jackie was the one that in her cuz I did watch the first 18 minutes that was released and she was the one saying I'm not even I don't think I can even travel economy. And then that's when her Newcastle accent came out or whatever and she talked about backpacking now. She has backpack Yeah, so maybe that's her like maybe they can't So, I'll agree with you. So, I'm happy to go with the crowd here. Early exit, Ben and Jackie.
28:39 That was a good one. Easy for you guys. Hm. All right, let's have a look. Who is next? We have Dane and Bow. Dane Simpson, stand-up comedian known for his stand-up, I guess, comedian. He's been on Have You Been Paying Attention, Get Crackin, in a film called The Merger, and he's running with his dad, Bow, who sets a record as the oldest competitor on The Amazing Race ever, or the Australian one anyway. I don't know Australian. accounts for America, but there's can it's our contention about the oldest grandmother who was on US. Some people saying 69, some are saying 70. he could be equal for oldest across all the franchises. Yeah. So, how does that put a team like Dane and Bow for rankings here?
29:34 Because one thing you definitely want when you're you have an older person in your racing team is that the other person with them is generally the young, fit, maybe can carry a lot more of the physical requirements of the race. Whereas normally I think Dane should be your weaker and he might have to do a lot of the heavy lifting here looking at the two of them. In the first episode, the 18-minute preview that we saw, Dane Bow points out Sorry, Bow points out to Bow that he's one of the oldest competitors, and they pan across, and he's literally wearing a knee brace while like at the starting line for The Amazing Race. To be fair, I'd have to wear a knee brace if I competed in the race, so you know, fair enough.
30:27 But you're not 70 as well, though. Yeah, I mean, my knee is. What do we think you hear about Dane and Bow? I've got them as early except And it's not it doesn't really have anything to do with age because there's been older cast members before especially in the US one where you know their age is about 60 and they came top three. So I don't Oh no, their ages was 50. They were both 50 actually and they came top three even being 50. But I don't see them as having a lot of the Nels ability knowledge of how to do things fast.
31:18 I don't nothing to do with age though. I just see them and think oh god they're gone already. So if there was ever a team that would exemplify and just really personify the slow and steady wins the race, that would be their only shot. If you can methodically plot along and win The Amazing Race and that would be what they pin for but again that first 18-minute preview did not look good for Dana and Bo coming out of the like they were as I said he was wearing a knee brace whatever but they were even slow getting to the first destination and the all that sort of thing like they were lagging immediately from the get-go. So I agree with Michelle as far as early exit. What are you thinking V? Oh you know sense of humor can help a lot with mental fortitude and I really want to believe in them but it's the hustle.
32:16 I just they don't look like they're going to really fight for it. So I'm going to have to put them early exit but I wish I could put them right up the top cuz they look fabulous. Listen to Mac. What do you think sir? Can we put them in eliminated? Like pre-season they're the first they could be the first boot. They could definitely be first boot. So, I think we agree with early exit. Definitely behind Ben and Jackie. We'll leave them there. And then after Dane and Bow moving on, we have Darren and Tristan. Darren McMullen and Tristan Dougan a team of uncle and nephew. Darren McMullen is a much-loved television presenter and actor. He's spent nearly two decades working across prime time networks in Australia, UK, and the US.
33:11 Are we familiar with Darren and his work? Yep. I'm familiar with Darren, yeah. Yeah. How do you think that translates to Amazing Race? I've heard of and seen him, but I'm not like intimately familiar with a lot of his work. But I obviously know of him. he's quite cluey. and I think having a younger competitor a younger teammate would assist. Also, you always you like having, you know, obviously someone's good at something, someone is good at the other thing. They just look like they'd be really good team. I would put them straight up with Amazing Race. I think you've got a agreement here in Oreo saying that Darren and Tristan look like they are about to do really well in the race.
34:04 And what is it? So, there you go. There's Amazing Race is straight up for Darren and Tristan. Tom, what do you think? They're my winner pick. I mean, I watched Darren in Celebrity Apprentice, and that guy he is just made to do well in all any like competitive show he does. I watched him in House Husbands. Wait, no, wait. Is that it? Yeah, that's right. Yeah, House Husbands. and yeah, I reckon these guys are going to absolutely destroy everyone. There's going to be another team coming up that I think people might perceive as the front runners, but I think they're the actual they're the actual winners. So, lock it in from Tom right now. This is this is my winner pick. Winner pick, there you go. V- you're not familiar with them. Do you do concede to the experts here that they're probably going to be amazing racers?
34:56 Yeah, I do. Look, with this with this pairing, I was wanting to be convinced by you guys why they should be amazing racers, and I have been convinced. So, chuck them up. I love it. I'm happy to go with that. Tristan quit his job as a solicitor to go in the race. So, I don't I don't know what that means. I don't know what to take from that. Like, it's pretty smart that you're a lawyer, it's pretty dumb that you quit your job, but when your uncle's Darren McMullen, maybe you don't have too much to worry about, but Amazing Races straight to the top. Darren and Tristan Okay, who have we got next? Emma and Hayley Emma Watkins and Hayley Watkins are a team of sisters on The Amazing Race Celebrity Edition. Everyone knows Emma from her time as Penny, if you're a parent, she may be one of your more hated people in the No, Wiggles are loved.
35:54 All loved. But, Emma is or was the yellow the yellow Wiggle for a long time. has now been replaced by someone that I can't ever say her name, but my wife always corrects me and says it correctly cuz I have three small kids, so I'm very familiar with the Wiggles, and I think Emma is depending on your age and the worlds that you sort of congregate in, she is an absolute superstar. When we talk about celebrity edition, for anyone under like the age of nine or something, she's like the biggest star in television history we've had on a show like this. So, we're talking about Emma from The Wiggles. What do you guys think as far as early exit, middle of the pack, or amazing racers? Hm. I think they're definitely middle of the pack.
36:46 Like, they have potential to be a hot mess. Do you think that the skill set of a Wiggle can translate to The Amazing Race? Because unlike say a Survivor or The Challenge where it's significantly more physical, this one she could get a, you know, Belarusian dance that you need to learn, you know, the steps for in an hour and that sort of thing. So, there's different types of challenges where the rhythm needed or sometimes you have to play an instrument for a certain period of time, whatever the case may be. Could someone like Emma have a skill set that's quite suited to the Amazing Race? I think she'd blitz it. But, then there was there was once a challenge in the US one where there was a musician. Like, he was an amazing musician and he had a music challenge and he just couldn't do it.
37:39 And it was just the most amazing thing because that the whole fan base is like, "What do you mean you can't do it?" And everyone was just aghast at the screen and he couldn't do this music challenge which to us seemed really simple and he should have been able to do it. But, she's quite Chloe and I think when you work with kids and you have to do a lot of things with kids, you're very adaptable. You can change really quickly and do things differently. So, that might come into aid her in her parts of the race. But, I don't know. I could see potential for the sister to lose it. putting her on the She's not used to the bright lights and the you know, the pressure of all of that fame and stardom. Maybe yeah, the system might be the weak link here. We'll see. What do you think, Tom? See, for me, like I see them getting around like fifth or sixth, but Okay.
38:33 But Emma is my is my breakdown. It is the one that I think I just think like the only time I've ever seen her is like "Hi, I'm super I'm a Wiggle. Woo!" And I just feel like that like energy is like you imagine keeping up that energy with screaming kids clawing at you for 10 years or whatever she did? She's battle-hardened. She's tested. No. I reckon she's going to like have that persona the whole time, and then there'll just be like one moment where everything cracks and there's just like, "I've had it." I just thought she'd be so used to crying behind tears, you know what I mean? Just keeping a smile on when you're hating your life like a lot a lot. I mean, she probably enjoys the money, but in that moment in time when you have to sing that song for the 5,000th time and still keep that smile, like that prepares you for some hard stuff, I feel like.
39:28 Yeah. Fruit Salad goes hard. You can I can sing that like a million times. Yeah. Fruit Salad, of course. I mean, we're talking about a classic there, right? Yeah, Australian one of the best songs of all time. Yummy. your take on Emma Wiggle here and old team Wiggle, B? Look, I think Emma is so smart, so switched-on, so adaptable. I worry about the sister, actress and model sister. but I think I'm going to go middle of the pack for these two cuz I really believe in Emma. Look, she is And she's married to Little Lord Fauntleroy as well, so I don't forget that. That's, you know, that's exciting. She's a true celebrity. Who's she married to? Did I don't know this celebrity, Gus.
40:20 Or info. Little Lord Fauntleroy. He comes on with The Wiggles with the hat and the guitar. Actual Wiggles stuff. Oh, I thought that was his actual name. And I'm like, what is that? That's a real person? That's amazing. You know, it's Wiggles canon. It's amazing. Her second husband in The Wiggles, but you know, I don't think they get out very much. Sheesh. So, middle of the pack for Emma. Hayley, are they towards the top of the middle? Are they dead smack? Are they bottom middle? I'd say middle. Middle. No. You can't be picking. Bec and Kate should be in The Amazing Race, thank you very much. So, behind Bec and Kate, but above Ali and Angie, perhaps. Mhm. Fine. Compromise. I like it. We'll go with that. George and Pamela for the TNT folks watching, like, this is probably the biggest name for the competition reality side, King George, of course, and his sister Pamela, King George of Bankstown, of Survivor fame.
41:23 We know as one of the most strategic players to ever play the game. put on an absolute you know, clinic last season on how to manipulate, how to strategize, how to get people inside. Ends up not working out, but he really was working against it. What do we think of King George and Pamela for a show like The Amazing Race, Michelle? I Because of what I've seen about the sister, I would put them middle of the pack. George, I don't Look, I want to put him Amazing Race as because he has got so much drive and passion to win anything. That I want to put him up the top, but I think he's going to be middle of the pack. Interesting take. What about you, V? What do you think of King George?
42:15 I have so much faith in King George. George, I think that he would drag her across the finish line by the leg if he had to. Like, carry her on his back and run. So, I say Amazing Races. I've got I've got a lot of faith in him. Okay. Tom, where are you where are you landing? See, like before we saw any like snippets of the show, I kind of assumed that Pamela would just have to carry George cuz let's be real. When it comes to anything other than manipulation and talking about Bankstown, he's a bit useless. but that then we saw that excerpt of like what they had to the poo the manure challenge or whatever and she was like, "I can't do it." And then and then George is just like being helpful as always. I'm like, "Oh my goodness, if George is carrying this team, I have very little hope." But I also think I don't know.
43:11 There's a chance they might somehow go decently far. I wouldn't be surprised if, you know, they were last place in a non-elimination leg. Just, you know, so, I reckon they would be maybe around Ali and Angie level. But also, there's just like a there's like a 3% chance they could like just make it to the end somehow. Just like you know, it makes no sense. Does George's skill set and what he brings to the game we know really it's his politicking and I guess to a certain extent his social game, right? Is what he's strongest for. Will that help him in a game like The Amazing Race? And we Tom sort of mentioned his lack of capabilities with some of the physical aspects of Survivor. Amazing Race, not as much. I don't know if it'll be as big of a hindrance as it was in Survivor for him.
44:04 Yes, there are going to be some challenges where you need that, you know, coordination stuff, but I think he may be able to slide a little bit better as far as the challenges go on a show like The Amazing Race. Don't you remember last season of Survivor he really wanted KFC and so he won it? Like he had so much drive to win. And I think that's what we're seeing in the snippets as well because he says, you know, his sister's feeling sick, wants to vomit. He's saying, "Well, vomit and let's go." You know, just he has the will. I think when he's got the will, he does well. What about What about the politics side? Do you think he's going to be wheeling and dealing, hey, you know, when a U-turn comes up, he's going to be able to dodge some of this stuff because of his relationships? I don't know. I don't know. Depends how good of alliances he makes in the race.
44:56 Who would I mean, who would align with him? Anyone who watches Survivor would probably good to align with him rather than not align with him. So, we need to know which of the cast which is a survivor basically. I've In celebrity shows, none of them probably. To be honest. we do have some backup though for the Emma Wiggle placement towards The Amazing Races because Peter Harris saying yellow wiggle for the win. Mhm. There you go. So, we need to figure out George. So, you reckon middle of the pack? Towards the bottom half? Is it above Emma and Hayley? I think below them. V thinks above V thinks Amazing Races straight up. Yeah. Well, can I can I just backtrack to brains versus brawn? Do you remember when he there was that challenge and he was like, "Oh, I don't know if I can reach Oh, no, I'm just I'm just going to give up.
45:50 I'm just going to sit down." And then he just like sits down like of it. That was part of his thing. strategy. He's Yeah, but he was on a season where he knew like nobody respected people who just gave up like mid challenge. So like that isn't a very good part of the strategy. I don't know. I just felt like I feel like if he had to do like abseiling or something I couldn't imagine him doing something like I wouldn't do abseiling. If there was an abseiling challenge, I would just yeah, I think he's I think he's more capable than like abseiling stuff. He nearly missed last season because he threw himself off the thing and smacked his head like He may not be good at stuff, but he's not afraid of stuff. So I think he'd go for it if given the you know the opportunity. Mhm. And I think he's got a lot to prove because he's been so close so many like those two times he's been so close that I think he wants to prove that he is a winner.
46:49 And I think he'll do whatever it takes. Ah, he can get some redemption by winning the Amazing Race for his Survivor losses. But Prove he's he says that he's the best strategic Survivor player ever. And I think he'll want to prove his point on this show that he is the best strategic player across any show ever. Well V, I'm happy with putting George and Pam at the top of middle of the pack if we can put back in Kate up at Amazing Races. Okay. That's fine. That's a deal. Good work, Michelle. And look at this. We're working together, folks. I like it. That's what it ends up looking like. Okay. I'm happy with that. I think George could do well this season. Because like George as a stand alone yes, I think would have his let downs and we don't know what Pam brings to the table at all, but she seems certainly fit.
47:44 But we also have to question where he is against the other teams. And that's what the tearing is the things, right? So some of them like when you don't have a lot to go off of, we at least know that George has done competition reality two seasons. He's been there for a long time, can put up with a lot, and sort of has that resilience factor that some of these teams we have no clue Yeah, I mean, he's done challenges on no sleep. He's done it with lack of food. So, he's done those sorts of things that the others haven't done. The really interesting thing about The Amazing Race, which ends up being a deciding factor, is often times patience. It's not how good I am at something, it's how long I can do this thing for without giving up and like losing my mind at how frustrated this annoying, tedious task is doing, you know, 30,000 times or whatever it takes to do That's Emma.
48:39 That's Emma. Yeah, there you go. So, yeah, maybe Emma needs to be higher for sure. Okay. So, next up after George and Pamela, who we have in middle of the pack, is Grant and Chezzi. Grant Denyer and Chezzi Denyer. Chezzi Denyer, married for 14 years. Grant Denyer is our little goblin king of Australia. They've been on every show. A wonderful performer, great entertainer, kind of can do it all, be it all, and do everything in between in a tiny little package. And he's, you know, he's Australia he's an Australian legend and an Australian icon. What do we think of Grant and Chezzi, folks? He faints or something in the first episode in India.
49:30 That's right. Yeah, I saw that as well. I was like, "Oh." It's probably 40 something. It's hot. However, he has been a race car driver and he has had major back surgery. He has been through pain before and battled on and still worked. So, if you can do something like that and battle through, I he's got more of a chance than someone who would just give up. Mind you, I don't think I'm putting them up with amazing races. I think I'm putting them middle of the pack. Okay, interesting. Yeah, the fainting thing got me as well. He did however say like in his little confessional camera, he says even though we're from Australia, coming here feels like the devil's Which I thought was a really funny turn of phrase. And then they show him fainting perhaps and then I'm like yeah, that makes sense.
50:21 It was Yeah, if it's hot enough to say it's the devil's probably hot enough to cause a bit of heat stroke as well. So, Well, India is the hardest country for the races to ever had to have to go to. It tests them in ways that other countries don't. In every US season where they've gone to India, it's always a culture shock and they always they need extra security, all the teams. Mhm. So, it's a real big jump from saying going to, you know, England or I don't know. Somewhere normal like Germany. India really assaults them and you know, I think it's great for first episode or first two episodes. It's going to be fantastic. Yeah, get that out of the way. What are you thinking here, Tom? Grant Denyer. I think I don't know about that fainting thing.
51:11 That's a spoiler alert. But knowing that only helps solidify my I look at them as a team that everyone would expect to kind of not do well, but somehow like they stay in the race. Mhm. like Yeah, I could honestly see them I don't think they will get this far, but I could see them somehow being like in the top three and then being like that third place team that like just gets floored like is like between first and second and then it says Grant or Grant over here. but like I there is I do think the two teams that are in Amazing Race is are in the top like three 100% and I think there's one more team left that would edge out Grant and Chezzi, but hey, you never know.
52:04 About here like top of the middle? I think even though they should be early exits, I think that's where they'll place somehow. Okay, let's get Veena's input. What do you think of Grant and Chezzi? Look, I have to agree with Tom on this one. I think I think the whole fainting thing is probably a bit of advertising bait for Channel 10 to go Will Grant die? I think he's going to bounce back from that just fine. He looks fine. Just let him go. He's fine. so I wouldn't be surprised if they are sort of up there, but maybe edged out by some of the stronger teams because I mean Grant's got a huge amount of experience with all sorts of reality format, so I think he'll be fine. I think he'll be up there. I'd put him in Amazing Race is just quietly. Oh, okay.
52:55 Well, we've got an input from Oreo. I'm really sorry, Michelle. When whenever the comment comes up, it like it's your camera specifically that's over. And so I won't keep you long. It says, I think Grant and his partner may be bottom two leg one and two and maybe middle after that until they make a mistake on a leg and lose. Mhm. Oreo with the insight there for Grant. I'm happy to keep him there, middle of the pack. I kind of had them middle, but lower half. I wasn't expecting great guns from them, but not expecting to do poorly either. just cuz as I said, I think Grant can do anything he wants to. If he wants to do Amazing Race, he'll probably do Amazing Race. that's Grant and Chezzi, middle of the pack. And you happy that order there? We're not really ordering them too much, but kind of gives a better idea, right?
53:46 Yeah. Yeah. Okay, we're getting towards the tail end with Harry and Teddy. Harry Jowsey and Teddy Briggs are a team of best friends on The Amazing Race. and they are from Too Hot to Handle on Netflix. They are dating reality contestants. Harry launched an interactive show on Spotify, Dating Harry Jowsey, and hosted the hit podcast Tap In. So, a podcaster. My fa- My hero, then. So, yeah, from the dating reality world, we have Harry and Teddy. What do we think of these two? I don't know them very well. But, Harry did say that if he can't go first or business, he tries to charter a plane. So, we're in trouble there first off.
54:37 I just I think it's going to be hard for him cuz he's young and he knows of the finer things in life now and hasn't been through the hardship of some of the older contestants. I don't know. I'm not Look, if this was a US season, two young guys, they usually Amazing Race is top of the pack. But, I don't know. I really can't get a handle on these two. For me, I just looking at them once again, cuz that's how I'm basing all my opinions. they look like people who would dominate the first half of the race, and then around like sixth, fifth place area, they would just absolutely like they just completely stuff up on one on one activity and then just get eliminated to me.
55:32 Like it'll be something probably brains-related because they don't strike me as the smartest lads in the world. you know, with So, it is on them though. They're not that cuz there's always that one team that does really well, but the taxi is what gets them or like, you know, something that was kind of out of their control. You think that whatever befalls Harry and Teddy will be all Harry and Teddy's fault. Or I could also see them being like villains and maybe when like a U-turn comes around like they're a strong team and people who don't really like them, so they're an easy pick. I could see them being the villains of the season, either them or Ali and Angie for some reason. I don't know why. I'm Once again, it's all vibes. so See the deliberation. Yeah, pretty much Yeah, pretty much. So, I could see them being like fifth or sixth even though like on paper they should be top three.
56:28 So, the reality dating world and the TV shows that come of it, V, how familiar are you with that space? Not this one in particular. So, I had to research these guys a little bit. Look, they look fit, they look energetic. Do they have the fortitude to pay attention, to focus, to navigate some of the trickier challenges? I don't really buy it. And yeah, I think they will get tripped up by something and find themselves eliminated. But, you know, I'm sure they can run. But Yeah, I tend to agree. I think obviously anything physical they'll be shoeing. but it's those other challenges, the frustrating challenges that, you know, the delicate like you're I don't know, they're putting together a sewing a shoe together or like knitting fishing nets or whatever it is, you know, it's those things that take focus mundane concentration for extended periods of time where you know, these guys probably get everything they want in life handed to them.
57:33 On a silver platter and to have that frustration boil over I think will probably be their undoing at some point. So I agree with you that I'm not that high on their ability to overcome the little things, but I think they'll have the big skills within their set for sure. So we're putting them early exits or like what are we thinking for Harry and Teddy? Yeah. Early exit for me. Early, oh. Mhm. Yeah. I think early. We don't have a We don't have a bell curve. We don't have to have a certain number in each section either. Like obviously it makes sense that middle of the pack would have the most. but I mean it doesn't really matter. We can put them anywhere we want. I'd be happy putting them at middle the bottom of the middle of the pack if Ali and Angie were moved down to the top of early exit.
58:28 Oh. You're looking for deep wheeling and dealing all the time here, Tom. So you're saying if they're ahead of them Yeah. they should be more down here. What do we think, Michelle? Harry and Teddy, how are they disrupting our tier list? V, what do you think about that? I mean I think Ali and Angie have more going for them than Harry and Teddy. Actually I want to retract my statement You can't retract your statement. No. I want to I want to retract my statement cuz I've seen the next two teams and Spoiler alert. Yeah, I've already got one of them for early exit straight away. Okay, so we're So we're happy to have them Are you're happy to leave Ali and Angie there?
59:22 Yeah, like I think the early exits might get a bit a bit bigger soon. Okay, well, let's have a let's leave them there and we can come back to it if we need to. I'm not fussed either way. I do think they'd probably be Yeah, bottom of the middle somewhere. I think. Ooh, I think they'd be higher, but we'll see. We'll see. Yeah. I think they have Like you said, they would have the other teams wary of them being physical threats and could be targeted for anything that comes up that you know, like a U-turn that comes up or anything like that. I think they would get frustrated easily. I don't I mean, I'm not basing that off anything to be honest with you, but you know, it's all snap judgments, isn't it? I mean, when I look at the list now, like they if it if this was the boot order, they would be coming sixth and that's like where I've sort of saw them.
1:00:12 So, I agree with you there, but yeah, I'm happy I'm happy sixth or seventh, whichever one you guys prefer. So, after Harry and Teddy, then we have Jana and Cornelius. Or Cor. Cor? Cor. Cor. The crows seem to be calling his name, thought Cor. so, Jana Pittman is a two-time world champion. she's a Commonwealth champion. She's I think she's an Olympian. I could read it word for word, but you know, I'm not a professional. But hurdler, known and loved because of her athletic prowess and she comes with the youngest person ever on The Amazing Race Australia, 16-year-old son. So, they have the parent dynamic as well, but obviously Jana brings a physical tool set that the other parent, Ally and Andy, might not have be able to compete with.
1:01:08 What do we think of Jana and Cor? Michelle? Okay, there's issues. He's 16. So, he doesn't have worldly knowledge of a lot of different things. Sometimes you need that on the race. look, he might be sporty, he might be super intelligent. I don't know from looking at him. My 18-year my 17-year-old daughter is very sporty, can do any physical challenge. Like I've done races with her. She's great at challenges, but if it's anything intellectual or stuff like that, it's a little bit harder cuz she's younger. and doesn't have the skill set yet as the older competitors would. Yana, although she was an Olympian and has the mindset to keep going and to, you know, keep working at whatever she's doing, it looks to me like she's become so much of a I'm being stereotypical mom now that maybe she's it seems like she's lost the drive.
1:02:13 When I saw the clips, she didn't seem to have a big drive. I'm probably totally left a base, but I'm thinking bottom of middle of the pack if not early exit. I could be totally wrong. Yana is actually a doctor. And she's a practicing doctor, so she's, you know, she's got the brains there as well. So forgot about that bit. That's interesting. Tom, you said the next two teams coming up we're going to perhaps stack you the early exit. Is that what we're implying here for Yana and Co? Okay, look. So Cornelius has some advantages. For one, if they go to, I don't know, Spain or France or anything, you know, he's learning that in school at the moment. So he could, you know, whip out his textbooks and you know, speak the language.
1:03:04 My problem is, you know, if there's a challenge in a nightclub, for example, you know, like he can't go in. So that's a it's a complication there. been a lot Where they get ID'd at the in the challenge itself? I think Amazing Race would have been bit better if there was some nightclub challenges personally, but Oh, there have been a couple. Oh, there have been a couple. Oh, yeah. Okay. Well, I'm going to watch those seasons. yeah, no, I just I don't see it. I mean, look at his face. It like He's a child. You're going just on looks, which is fine. Yeah. Which is fine because, you know what? When I when I do the mole rankings, I do it just on looks. And literally I get it right every just on looks, which is really superficial. But yeah, it's Go on. Continue. Well, I'm proud to be superficial, and I think early exits I think they I think they're in between for me.
1:04:02 I hate to give Ben and Jackie any compliments, but I think Ben and I think Bandana slightly edges out 16-year-old. Bandana Yeah, that just that's that's what the math is looking like, you know, Bandana beats 16-year-old in my equations. So, yeah. what do you think, Fee? Yeah, you use economies. No, well, I do have to agree. I think I mean, Yana looks incredibly impressive. She's probably got the best athleticism out of anyone else on this whole ranking. And if that counted for everything, then I think that would be important, but it would be a case of Yana needing to drag Cor across the finish line as well, I think, like a George scenario. So, I do think he might be a little bit of a liability.
1:04:55 Yeah, I'm I'm more leaning to middle of the pack and but towards the end of it. But I also added an early exit ranking either. Okay. But is there not an argument to be made like a 16-year-old who is the son of, you know, an Olympic-level athlete is probably going to be capable physically. And being 16, can't you just go run at that mountain. Like, you know, you just say sign tasks and he'll action kind of thing, you know, run, go now. And make a Don't take the thought out of it and just use his young legs to you know, make things happen. I have a counterargument. He Yianni will have to drive everywhere. So, you're relying on him for directions? Oh. Oh, yes.
1:05:45 Eliminated. Eliminated. He's never He's never looked at a map before, right? Without Google telling you where to turn next. He's going to need a paper map, too. Yeah, paper maps of overseas. He doesn't even know what it is. Yeah. So, are we happy at the bottom of the middle or do you want actual early exit for Yianni and Cornelius? Surely that's going on. You reckon bandanna's above that? I hate to say it. I don't I don't like complimenting people who wear bandannas personally, but I think he I'm happy I'm happy putting Yianni and Cornelius above I reckon they belong in the early exit area. He doesn't have a bandanna, you're right. Is that Yeah, it's an advantage.
1:06:36 He doesn't have a bandanna. All right, we'll leave him again. It's not necessarily ranked, but we'll leave him there. and send a big shout-out before we get to our last team to Andre Lee with the $5 super sticker, $5 NZ. Thank you so much, Andre. We know you're such a big fan of the show and we appreciate it. we have also Logan's travel reality TV and local commentaries. Oh my god, Logan. There you go. Two previous podcasts from Bo Ryan. I've got And yeah. I've got to tell you who's Lo- who Logan is. Yeah. Logan I used to podcast with The Amazing Race the US season for many years. And yeah, so he's known in Amazing Race world as this he's called the TAR historian.
1:07:29 Ah. He is He knows everything about every episode. You could say to him "What happened in season 24 episode 5?" And he could tell you. Well, he's flexing on it here cuz he shows us when we're talking about nightclubs. Yes. Told you. Amazing Race 5 US a man tried to kiss Kim in the nightclub task in Shake's mega disco in Uruguay. Like even naming the disco. Like that's crazy. Hello Logan. Logan, hang on. Yeah, I saw the Cuban one. What was the one where the they had to DJ? They had to DJ in a nightclub. Which one was that? Come on. Quick. It was It was a recent one of the one of the guys did a dancing on the podium afterwards.
1:08:20 Logan will bring it back, I'm sure. We'll look at the last team and then we'll get the update. Oh, there it is. He didn't even need that much time. I didn't even have to stall for Logan. That's how that's how fast he is. Amazing Race 24 Malaysia. Episode 4 episode 4 Yeah. Should have the answer. He's insane. He's insane. He pauses at you know 45 minutes and 37 seconds for the start of the nightclub scene. Good on you, Logan. Thank you for joining us, by the way. To know that we've got a the TAR historian in our in our midst. Logan and Jamal were really into that roadblock. we appreciate you, man. Thank you. and the last team here that we're going to go through is Peter and Frankie, Pete Rosenthorn or Rosethorn and Frankie Rose, his daughter.
1:09:14 Pete, obviously a long time Australian comedian. I've known him for He's made me laugh since I was a young boy. let the blood run free and the comedy company, all that sort of thing. Most known for Kath and Kim. But Pete is a long time entertainer, racing with his daughter, so another parent and child team in the in the lineup. What do we think of Pete and Frankie? He's wearing a Terry Telling hat. He in the first slot. And he's also very excited. Like he's saying, "This is so much fun." And he's like clapping and really happy to be there, which I love seeing. But I don't know if it's necessarily that like killer instinct, you know, to win the win the leg kind of thing. And he even says his daughter is slow.
1:10:06 For me He called his daughter. Poor girl. The father-daughter ones the father-daughter teams are always difficult to judge because there's that element of when push comes to shove and the challenge is difficult and you're running last or you whatever it is, you will the father really get the mongrel out and go at the daughter that we need to get through it or is it going to be that "Oh, I love her no matter what. She tried her best." Or is You see some couples, especially husband and wife or whatever, they'll just fight. They'll just straight up fight because they know what they want to do, but does that parental relationship and the nurturing kind of instinct dampen your abilities on a show like The Amazing Race.
1:10:59 I think know. I think Peter Rowsthorn is a genius and a treasure to Australian television. I don't think this is going to be his moment. I don't think that this is where he's going to shine and I think it they'll be out first or second. First or second, so they're early exits. They're going to be early exits for V. What do you think, Tomac? look, I hate to sound rude, but just in this photo here, Peter, he's looking like Master Oogway from Kung Fu Panda, but like in a bad way. Like his facial expression, like he's got the turtle look. But in a bad way. Well, my grandma walk in a bad way, though. No Master Oogway is the tortoise. It's a tortoise.
1:11:50 Sorry, much better. No. So my grandma gives like Master Oogway energy, but in a good way, but he's giving bad Master Oogway. So I have to put them as early exits for that point alone. I'm sure Mucky would back me up if he was if he was watching at the moment. it's flawless really. Yeah. Being a young lad yourself there, Tom, are you familiar with Pete's comedy stylings? I watched I'm just reading here. He was on Talking About Your Generation. I loved that show as a kid. I remember watching a little bit of Thank God You're Here. I've seen like the new version, like not a fan of that, but as a kid I liked that show. but I don't really remember him personally, no. For people of a certain vintage, he holds a very special place in our hearts, for sure.
1:12:44 Also, is the Master Oogway comment offensive? No, I kind of like that, you know. He's He's good. fine. Yeah. he's amazing. It would be really cool to see him go far just to experience him on television because he's just amazing. But I just don't think this is his space to shine. I don't think this is where he's going to excel. I just don't. Okay, so we've got Terry wearing hat. Pam's not a not a fan necessarily. So he's an early exit based on our in-depth analysis. We'll give him early exit. We'll put him towards the bottom. He looks like a tortoise in races. Bottom of the list. Even below Dane and Bow. Oh, really? No, I think Dane and Bow. Yeah, I can't abide by that.
1:13:34 This dude is 70 and wears a knee brace. He's not Like I mean, I don't have anything against 70-year-olds who wear knee braces, but maybe The Amazing Race anything with the word race in it like Yeah, we talk about all the shows that people would apply for. I'm not applying for anything that has the word race in it because I'm not going to do like well in a show where I'm trying to beat other people to a certain point. And I feel like sometimes in TV shows like this, there needs to be that little bit more of self you know, awareness of what you are capable of. Like sure, yeah, go on a reality show where you climb mountains when you can't, you know, walk down the street. That's not a thing that, you know, and I'm wondering if that might be affecting some people on the celebrity edition specifically.
1:14:24 But that is our rankings anyway. We've gone through all the teams. We ended up with two people in or two teams in The Amazing Races category. Darren and Tristan, and Bec and Kate. Would make sense that there'd be a few more in the middle of the pack. Grant and Chezzi, George and Pam, Emma and Hayley, Harry and Teddy, Ali and Angie, and then what we think will be the early exiters should be in the next few weeks. If we're right, it will be one of Yana and Cornelius, Ben and his wife Jackie, Peter and Frankie, and Dane and Bo. Tom had an idea before we were coming into this show that he wanted to do a like a not a ranking I said, but prediction. How well do we know? Who do you think is going to come Of course, Tom being, you know, a jaded young man, he went in the negatives right?
1:15:15 So, rather than who's going to win each leg, he wants to focus solely on who do we think is going to come last. And he was like, we can put points to it, we can do it. I was like, let's just tear them, and I made it much simpler for me to follow along. but of our early exits, who do you think is an episode one early exit? We'll focus on the negative for sure. Woohoo. Either Peter or Dane. Yeah, definitely. So, that we've got the right two there. I think so. I think it's going to be Dane or Yana because Cornelius didn't do his Sri Lankan language studies. Is it that the same subject at school? I'm not sure. and he's not going to be allowed in the night club, so he's gone. So, yeah.
1:16:05 Tom has a very specific stringent set of circumstances on the show that's going to dictate the outcome. If he goes to Sri Lanka and the night club, he's gone. He is gone. I mean, you can't tell me otherwise. If he goes to Spain and there's no night club, probably good. It really depends on what happens. He's winning. He looks like he chose Spanish as his subject for at school his language subject for sure. That'd be great. They go in there like, "Donde esta la biblioteca?" Which is V, what are you thinking here? Or early exit first episode? I agree with either Dane or Peter. Leaning more towards Peter. I don't think this is the place for him.
1:16:56 Okay, so we had Yana, Dane, Peter. And I'm going Dane as well. So, we'll see on Sunday if we were actually correct. But that is where we sort of end up. Are we happy with that? I think it's a generally pretty decent layout. I'm not I'm sick that George isn't up in The Amazing Races, but I will just have to prove everyone He's top four. He's top four at this point. Yeah, there's only 11. him up a bit more, but you know, I'll be right. You'll just You'll see. V's looking forward to being able to say I told you so. With all the venom, with everything in her chest. That's what she's looking forward to. Tom, what are you thinking about our rankings in the end? I think it's good. I think like obviously there's going to be a team that comes third in the competition, but I think in this season there will only be two teams that you could consider like in comparison to every other amazing race would be amazing races that in like a returnee season with great teams would also do well in those seasons.
1:18:00 So, I think it's going to be a Darren and Tristan and Bec and Kate. But I could totally see I have a sneaking suspicion that Harry and Teddy like those two amazing races teams as well as Harry and Teddy, two of those three teams will be in the top three. And one of those three teams will be taken out prematurely in like either a massive upset like they completely stuff up on a leg or they get stitched up by a twist or whatever. I remember I think the first Beau Ryan Australian season like there was this there was this these two mates who were just so much better than everyone else and they did like a U-turn in the final four, which is so unfair. So and they only just lost. I'm like I was spewing at that cuz they should have won that season like by a landslide.
1:18:52 Yeah. So spoilers everyone, but I think that's going to happen to one of those three teams. Just interesting insight. I mean there's usually one of the those teams that like that happens to someone at some point during the race. There's so many variables on a show like The Amazing Race. Michelle, what do you think of the final tiers or rankings that we've given them? Are you happy with the overall where we've landed as a collective brain unit? I think so. I think it sometimes it's hard as Tom says, you know, things can happen and you know, you get bad taxi or you know, you simply can't do a challenge and you end up bottom of the pack. You know, you never know who that's going to happen to and it can happen to the best racers like it happened on the season Tom was talking about. It was just the whole fan base was just up in arms like how the hell did they not you know, get through that challenge.
1:19:44 It was it was a nightmare. So I'm pretty happy with what we've done. I'm also cognizant that we've done very stereotypical Amazing Racers at the top. And but you know what? A lot of the times they are the teams that do win. but yeah, I'm just I'm just looking at that and thinking, oh god, we look like we're just going for the younger, more fit teams even though not really because I mean we put Harry and Teddy in the middle and they look like they could be fit, but I don't think they've got it all there to be able to be an amazing racer. The Amazing Race is a very specific skill set and it isn't it? Like you need to be able to compete physically with some of the demands of it, even just the amounts of sheer walking that they need to do. Then there's the mental fortitude and the resilience to like the mundane activities.
1:20:38 There's often puzzles that you need the smarts and you kind of have to not max out in any one area, but be a well-rounded competitor across the board and I think sometimes when we look at the amazing races that we've got there in Darren and Justin and Bec and Kate, we're hoping they kind of tick a broad range of those boxes if not like a Harry and Teddy would max out in physical and maybe not so much on the intellectual side, but yeah, I think they give us a good sort of cross-section of all the skills needed. So, I'm happy with that, too. So is Chris apparently on the nullified text so good job everyone. You get Bose. Hey. Comment from the boss. I'm always happy to have that. Logan actually is rallying for even though Chris is campaigning for Survivor South Africa to return, do we also have a campaign to have Grant Bowler return as the host.
1:21:31 Get rid of Beau Ryan, says Logan. Logan, if you want Grant back, you also need to have the production team back, the Channel 7 production team, which I know they'd be happy to do it again. I mean, they still you know, they do a lot of stuff still, but yeah, I think they'd come as a package and I don't think Eureka would want Grant. Now, Beau's definitely where the vibe is for The Amazing Race going. I think like that comedic element I think he brings a lot in and they want to keep that going. Mhm. Logan also did comment that having an all-female team projected to be potential winners is a bold choice. It is. It is, Logan. don't win. I know, it's annoying, isn't it? So annoying. but Ashley and Amanda like they're my favorite Australian team and they should they should have won.
1:22:21 Bose. Mhm. Yeah. Yeah. And Logan also said that one final night before he night before he turns to work, I won't spoil the route or routes, but I have visited every country that they will visit this season. Okay, so he knows where they're going. Interesting. before Danica B said, "Can you remind me when you'll be back live on this T A R A U or The Amazing Race Australia? I thought you said it was going to be on a different daytime." Yeah, so we're going to be doing Sunday nights Australian time, 9:00 p.m. for me and Michelle, 8:00 p.m. for Tom and 8:30 for your weird non-real time zone in Adelaide, V. So for Danica, I mean, I think that is whatever time Saturday night oh Sunday morning for you. I'm not again, similar time, 5:00 a.m.
1:23:12 Sunday morning. Yeah. Wow, okay. So, it'll be the same time, but it'll just be Sunday instead of Tuesday or whatever it bad for her considering you can sleep in on a Sunday. Oh, look at this reference. This is going back to this is hitting me resonating with me very I prefer Blackstreet and Teddy, the original rum shakers. That's from Dr. Dre from No Diggity. No Diggity. I love that. But yeah, we're going to bring it to a close here, folks. We've got our rankings. We've got all that done. We have had our introduction to our Amazing Race podcasters.
