The Challenge 39: Episode 5 Review

0:14 [Music] [Music] a [Music] [Music] welcome back to the nfy te Channel on YouTube where cuno I've got the TNT t for you on the challenge 39 that's right I'm your host Chris and we're back to talk about all of the action from the latest episode here on the challenge 39 we missed last week because I had covid so you know it's been an eventful week for me for those that didn't jump on to the live yesterday which was my first live back after seven days of recovering from it you know we're back now and we're making up for it by doing a live for the challenge 39 we haven't done a live in quite a few weeks Kuna how you doing good man I'm excited to be doing a live because yeah after

1:34 You know after missing a week you got to give the people what they want and what they wanted was Chris on their screens man so it's good to have you back on for the challenge yeah well I think it's they wanted the do of us back doing a live you know they were they were quite vocal about it Dan yesterday in the live was quite vocal about wanting a live Chris back in the live here as well loveable Nikki being confused if this is live or not because done many lives is it live yeah so obviously this week you know I wasn't going to go do too much on the weekend I'm still sort of recovering trying to get myself ready for Monday to get back into the office so I thought you know if I'm going to be at home we might as well do a live it works out brilliantly and what an episode what an episode to come back and do a live on because we had one of the Heavy Hitters of the challenge maker return here in this episode Chris made his comeback on this episode The Heavy hitter one of the goats of legend of the challenge Chris is back folks everybody needs a good hype man and Kaho is my hype man on the podcast you know I've got lovable Nikki and Chris in the live who will keep me honest if I call any of the women strong in the pendent women if they're not strong and independent I will hear back from them for sure we've got Luciana also back in the live welcome Willie you're right on time

2:55 Yeah there we go Bakery in the house everyone yes shout out to angel cake Drew so yeah fitting that we've got the bakery shirt on we're ready to talk about the challenge and we start this episode off with kin coming back Victorious obviously having won his elimination very happy and the clock has started the clock the countdown to chaos has started did it live up to the hype for you Kahuna with the clock starting seeing people freak out a little bit in the house uncertain as to what's going to happen in this next phase in the game not really we knew that it was we knew that it was coming but I did appreciate that they you know producers probably said hey get excited like show us you know what I mean like they're going to go overboard about how excited and crazy it is and then kylin goes oh I get my win and the clock's taking my shine you know he goes comes back to the house and the clock's doing all the distracting I thought that was funny he didn't get his yeah the most interesting thing for me here in the opening section of the episode was when a bunch of them were talking about what potentially could happen next it was Jay nus and Assa talking about what this next phase in the game could be and Jay said well

4:15 If it's a mercenary coming we need to be ready for it and I found it very interesting that Jay was so on the money with what was coming almost to the point where I was wondering of production maybe let slip potentially what could be coming in the game because how did he know that is the next phase of the game at this stage I don't know if you picked that up I picked it up because I watched it a second time this morning and I found it interesting that Jay was so on the money because they're normally so wrong him and Michelle when it comes to predicting the game but on this case they were both on the money just throwing out well I believe some of them was I heard that some of them were like Kieran said actually Kieran was talking about how leading up to it people were talking about rumors like oh I heard Blah's coming I heard someone else is coming and Kieran didn't know who anyone was so that kind of put him off but he did they he did say that they were talking about potential Invaders because they'd heard rumors that someone was coming whether it was going to be yeah like Champions think that they helped the experienced people like production maybe if they could they would want Michelle and Jay to do well because they're the two biggest vets in the house this season so maybe they were trying to help them out a little bit I mean potentially look to be honest with you yeah Michelle seems to be getting back-to-back seasons multiple say she could be getting a bit of help and to be fair Chris she needs all the help she can get in like

5:35 As production's not going to production is not going to get over the line for a win that's for sure says I'm sure Jay Saw cast room as well in sequester that yeah highly possible I mean because we normally get the cast leaks as they're on their way to the airport so it's like it kind of spoils it I think for everybody who's going to go out there and play the game but that is a thing Chris saying don't start me with the strong women nonsense already I'm not going against the wom I'm against you claiming that is why we dislike them for those who don't know that's an inside one for the amazing race covering Willie saying I dislike the US Alliance Cory betraying Assa made no sense and we're going to be talking about that very soon Danica saying I think Jade did the math if he's a true challenge follower he would assume that something like this would happen none of them are vet enough to pull in the viewers yep that does make sense duu welcome back to the live Elise welcome to the live I am on the men I'm feeling the best I have so far I got sick last week Saturday and was out the whole weekend so it's been seven days and I am feeling even better than yesterday Kahuna so you know I can feel the energy coming back into my body really annoyed that I've had to stop my training because my training's been going so well you know trying to get back

6:55 Into Spartan races and obstacle course races and all those fun things yeah I had to stop my training as well about 40 years ago or so you're like one of my best friends he's like we're running why are we being chased you know like he doesn't want he doesn't want to run he doesn't want to do any of that stuff either I'm the only crazy one who does it but next day here we've got the Montage with the training happening between Kieran and Zara was such a big part of the challenge World Championship very early on being partnered with West we heard a lot about how much of a as she is but we haven't seen much of her this season so far Kahuna but seeing her working out here with Kieran and then obviously ultimately knowing that they will become a do later on in the in this episode what's your thoughts on Zara and Kieran and how much sort of a Target they have coming into the season because people were looking at them as the two biggest threats physically mentally you know it almost looked like they were CT and I don't know who else Cara Maria being out there or Laurel being out the way people were talking about them I don't know what people are basing a lot of it off it's so early in the game there's so little experience for some of them Z Zaza definitely as a runner up Kieran was a runner up as well so I think they should have that

8:15 Reputation coming in I don't think anyone on the show has come as close to a win as they have even though it's even though it's not the flagship or whatever but still like they've got some bonafides Kieran comes in as a second place getter to Troy and Troy showed he is a legit Champion by then going to the finals in the world championship as well shout out to sh brother but yeah like I think Kieran comes in with that but I don't know like what they're basing it off they say they were saying that James is very good very smart like what like I don't know what how they build that reputation but it's obviously assumptions and I think these two are probably right I think Zaza obviously they haven't had the running challenges and where she would really Excel they haven't they haven't done the math yet this season where she would that's exactly so if they knew the extent of that weakness it might not be as good because I'm assuming it may come into play at some point I can't see anyone winning a final straight out without being able to do puzzles and things like if you're M like number dyslexic it's going to be a hard show unless you happen to the rare circumstance where there's none of that in it you know what I mean yeah for sure I mean it would be interesting if C comes

9:35 In as one of the Champions and she has to go up against Zaza since we know the friendship between the two of them how that would play out on our screens that could be potentially something to look forward to but Danica here is saying K you and me I was in an accident at age 11 in leag Braes for three years I became the permanent scorekeeper for PE class lovable Nikki also having a bit of a chuckle at that and then Chris saying people give Zara a lot of credit because of the glowing recommendation from West kiwi here in the house as well and she is saying a bit late had to finish House of Villains first happy to have you here kir SC Luciana says I get the fear for Zara but Kieran I don't get the threat level at all at this stage Patricia welcome to the live as well good to have you here as well K I wonder if with Kieran it's because of the first few challenges where he did take leadership he said he was in the Army and he performed well like I think he's shown in a small window it's not necessarily the track record that you have of season worth of knowledge but he has shown quickly that he at least seems very competent and comes across as intelligent and smart to the rest of them anyway which sometimes interested kind of interested to know from chat spam in the chat oh not spam but put your put your yes or no in the chat in regards to Kieran do you want to see more of Kieran in the future

10:55 Yes or no in the chat really interested to know what people are thinking about K's performance here this season I do enjoy him personally I think he's good we'll talk about the elimination and how he reacted to losing in the elimination and things like that towards the end because there was some interesting takeaways from my end in regards to that but let's move into the daily challenge let's move into the daily challenge here so that we find out that sometimes they'll be in pairs sometimes they'll be in teams for this one they've got to be in pairs random teams are selected for them so the algorithm makes way back the algorithm makes its way back it's just not by the name algorithm and even less transparent coming into this specific episodes was there any Duos that stood out for you kuna when production had the opportunity to matchmake I don't know how was it random like I don't know how random like because to be honest with you if I was a producer would you randomize it and potentially put like really weird crappy couples together or cuz I think obviously getting Kieran and ZaZa in the alliance they were training together they had that little scene them ending up as partners is pretty good I don't know Berner Emanuel was it random I'm not sure but there's no real like standout couples that I thought would dominate

12:16 Again it's just really interesting to see who and what stands out and who performs because there's just no one is like dominating the show yet no one's like a clear head above everyone else there's different and it's really interesting that way so I don't know like it I don't know if they're trying to put wellio and Big T being in the same team after bigio had that yeah and also because they had that little bit of yeah spiciness between the two of them from the first week so that clearly was done like on purpose to get some sort of a reaction from them but both of them ended up working really well together I forgot who Emanuel was with this episode burner yeah that kind of came out of nowhere that de being together because I know they've spoken once or twice they seem to be friends out there then the funny one for me was Callum and Colleen the M Colleen yeah Colleen and Callum give and she's like oh love being with Callum because callum's got this great social game he's probably gonna do well keep us safe in the game and he's like oh man this colen girl's an anchor like she's got no Connections in the house so they both have got completely opposite appreciations for their partnership at that point I thought that was quite funny to see who else

13:36 Do we have we obviously had Michelle ended up with Assaf which that's gonna that's gonna play out interesting and you know Corey and Raven being together both of them having been in danger before so they've got that fire underneath their belly where they know they need to win to potentially stay safe in the game so there was a lot at stake here but before we talk about who actually won and about the decision that needed to be made what did you think of the daily challenge as a whole did you enjoy the daily challenge I loved it's like I was watching it going again like we always talk up the Innovation on the challenge with the challenges with the dailies and the eliminations they don't they have a few of their standards that they go back to but they're always pushing the envelope always tweaking it like you get a truck coming back but the truck is so different from one season to another season and yeah and sometimes it works sometimes it does and when it does work I think it works well this is one of those challenges where you were 1,000% do we still Advantage by going first and sometimes it's a bit know luck of the way that out oh yeah am I still here yeah we got you back we got you back now okay sorry about I was saying that this is a challenge where it seemed like really one

14:56 Of those times where a th% you were disadvantage going first try to figure it out what's going and then the advantages play you get to see more people try it but it was I was watching going imagine being you know how like on Survivor Jeff talks about the crew that sets up the challenges and stuff imagine being the ones that set up for this one you need like engineers and like really like they're like we oh we want to CH okay we're going to put two shipping containers on top of a truck and we need a whirly bird thing on the side of it that's going to spin like just engine in it building it like putting it together is such a crazy thing and to work out the speed of the spin versus the speed of the truck you know what I mean like it's all so you had to have a whole team of EDS out there a whole team of EDS putting it together you know I think Ed would have had a lot of fun sort of looking at the construction and how they did this thing and how they put it together as an engineer himself but yeah what a fun challenge just seeing this big propeller the going up and down grabbing Hoops having to throw it onto poles the gray ones were 10 points the yellow ones were Five Points each obviously Corey just grabbing a stack of it and throwing all of it in one H getting major points from one of those poles when he when he connected and see some of the teams the multiples counted yeah

16:16 They counted yeah that's why they won they only showed 10 points like on graphic at the bottom I was like are they all counting or they because that was where I'm pretty sure they all counted not going by going first didn't realize that you could put multiple and then everyone saw everyone else doing they're just chucking thousands of them at one time Emanuel grabbed all of them with one hand right and Bern was like what about me like he took all of them and missed completely but yeah that's funny no I really enjoyed watching it I thought it was very interesting obviously Karen struggled him and Zara like did really bad for a team that we thought was they be athletic coming in but you never know when it comes to these circus tricks that you sometimes have to have when you're out there where you're going to your athletic skills are going to actually translate and where it's not going to translate but definitely not a good one here we know that Zaza also struggled with West when she had to do something that had to do with hand and eye coordination and cap capturing was it rings back then as well or balls being SW yeah so this is not the first time that she's shown to struggle describing these ches look how we have to was it the one where they're swinging around on cranes or the one spinning on the side of a truck going down the road it's crazy two fun two fun dailies but yeah what a what an interesting daily what an interesting outcome

17:36 Obviously with Cory and Raven winning in this case and having to choose on the spot who they are going to throw into an elimination so they've got no time to strategize or talk about it pride going into the daily and Cory trying to angle for Kieran someone he can beat and then when he notices that he can't go after someone he can beat he then tries to go for the guy who is the least connected in the house and we had this whole scene with Assaf and Cory talking at the table prior to the daily challenge about you know how close they are but it was mainly the second time around when I watched it again it was mainly aaf that drove that narrative I didn't see Cory confirm throughout all of that yes we're tied yes I'm not going to say your name it was Assaf talking about how close they were and how they would never come after each other in the game so I felt like this whole episode Assa made this whole thing up in his mind like of how close him and Cory was and he was very dramatic as well throughout this whole episode super dramatic yeah can you imagine like how messed up does a relationship have to be in either Dynamic like where someone thinks they're best friends like that and the other person's like I've known you for two weeks buddy like where's the like how did the dynamic get so yeah like where someone's like we are best friends in this house it's Jay and then you I'm the Godfather of

18:56 His kid and then you're next man we're best friends he's like and it got even cringier as the episode went on when he was like trying to look for backup from other people like harass do you really think you're closer than me and Cory you know and he looks at I kind remember James do you think you're closer and I'm just like what are you trying to do it's so cringey it's so cringey like he's a nice guy but I don't know like in this case nice guys do finish is it worse than is it worse than chy is it worse than Jessica it's like we've had a couple of deliberations it's been it's been bad it's like moral of the story or lesson of the season is just keep your mouth shut when you're in trouble and but I guess in his case he was already in the arena so it didn't really matter he didn't talk himself into the arena but it just didn't look good I did want to go back on the chat as well and just say everybody that commented in the chat lovable Nikki Chris Danica Willie kiwi Elise a bunch of people there really thinking that we should see Kieran come back they're all big fans of Karan at the stage Luciana even went all in by saying Ken will be back because they milked his exit with him crying and showing the passion for the game also he hooks up with people and can be messy I think this crying wasn't about the passion of the game but we'll talk about that towards the end I think he got upset about losing

20:16 A little bit more than anything else and I know very like most of the times when it comes to the challenge I don't always keep track of the noise outside of the show but the noise about this elimination did make it to my ears this week so I know about a little bit about some of the behind the scenes things that happened that we may not have seen on the episode and I'm sure Kahuna is all across it as well I know Kahuna normally does do his due diligence when it comes to the extra content that's out there so we'll definitely talk about that but Not only was aaf upset here in this episode Kahuna Michelle you know she always finds a way to make it about herself in the game and she was doing the most thinking that she was going to go in with Assaf and that Cory betrayed her this episode as W now yeah like I don't like I get where she's coming from because we're in the chaos portion and if anyone's seen the show before TJ does like to throw little twists out every now and then not to the extent of Jeff probes but you know they'll keep them on their toes and I think it says a lot about the show and how good it is that it keeps them paranoid to the extent that Michelle's thinking this way I'm glad that she is thinking that way I didn't I thought it you know TJ said it's a bloke it's a bloke and I knew the Champions were coming in right so I didn't think we would have double champions in one episode

21:37 So I didn't even assume that there would be a double elimination but I like that the show has them uncomfortable enough worried enough there's big clocks they're saying it's chaos all this sort of thing and Michelle whether it's paranoia or veteran Savvy to at least think in different ways and look at you know look at different angles I appreciate that but she yeah she went hard like she was really upset and no one else thought that like no one else got that Vibe at all whether they're just like yeah TJ you know they're taking TJ on his word so I don't know what would you have done there would you would you sort of be open to the idea that maybe I'm going in because of that or because even Callum was like looked at Michelle and said hey it's not me and she was so pissed off because she I think I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility when you're thinking about the game becoming chaotic and the format being switched up all the time you know and if you're expecting the unexpected because you come from a show such as surviv where they try and do that to you all the time then I get where the thinking is coming from the challenge has also changed formats and things like that midseason quite a lot so I don't think it's unheard of and the conversation between her and Corey at the club where Cory was sort of saying he never it never even crossed his mind and Michelle

22:57 Being like don't insult my intelligence I know you're an intelligent guy I know you had to think about it for at least a second you know yeah it was a lot of noise for something that didn't manifest but I can understand why she was worried and why they were looking at all angles at this point in the game there's quite a few people here she should be pissed off anyway though right because even if it wasn't a thing you didn't need to there was other choices for Cory I have no idea why he chose stuff in the first place considering the start of the episode even if he didn't think they were best friends surely there's got to be other choices before him right you know what I mean like although lot of people here saying that she was paranoid a lot of people in the chat thinking she was paranoid coming into this week Chris says I was in the trenches weekly on Twitter to defend Michelle during Co wrong and win war why does she keep doing things that make me have to defend her yeah I love Michelle I think Michelle I've said this many of times I think Michelle would be the coolest to hang with I do think she's got some strategic chops but she is messy and Michelle will always be messy that's just that's just the case with her and you've just got to sit on sit back and enjoy the ride when it comes to Michelle she's gonna give you TV Kona that's why she they keep

24:17 Calling her back every season see my theory with Cory and did you believe Cory by the way the tears and the I had no idea honestly I believe TJ for what he said did you believe him I do think that Cory didn't think it through I do think it through there's an old say which I've learned to have to live with a lot in my life in my working life is never mistake ignorance for maliciousness or something right people are dumb and they do stupid things and it's not because they're trying to hurt you it's because they're dumb and I think of through yeah they didn't think it through right like never mistake malicious or ignorance for something like that but I believe that but I also think that Cory could have done a better job as far as getting CU really if you look at who the combinations were and the potentials outside of their Alliance Corey could have said to Michelle hey like I get it's it's would you rather have I said Callum because Callum is really the only other option foren like you know what I mean like as far as so yeah like there's ways I don't know I would have said look he was working he was working with half of the international guys and yeah and he told not just not only did he just tell Raven he

25:37 Was also was quite telling how open he was about his strategy in front of Zara like Zara was in the conversation with him back of the house and he was like fully open about you these are the people I'm working with and it's sloppy gameplay that got Raven in trouble not that long ago by talking to people outside of the American Alliance he's now talking to people outside of the American Alliance and he's pretty open about his strategy so at some point that's going to come back to the American Alliance and he's going to be in trouble but I will say this and I've been trying to get into this for a while here some comments coming in from the live Willie saying in my opinion Cory Al should have done shouldn't have done isaf but on the other hand Assaf should calm down because the blow up he was doing was putting a Target on his back denica saying Cory was lame what a copout I'm so irritated with him I didn't like him on the other season either Assaf went overboard but still Cory has a bit of an entitled attitude to me I loving Corey I'm loving Cory this season he's bringing a lot of drama to the show like can you imagine how boring it would have been if Corey wasn't there and there's this part of me that likes even the bit of pettiness that Corey has sometimes when you know he gets into these fights I kind of live for it I kind of like Cory on the show I think that I've known two weeks yeah we've only known Corey for

26:57 How many weeks now in the challenge time for five weeks maybe he's been on the show for like five weeks but yeah loving it loving the fact that he will do his own thing like to me there's nothing more boring like is it good gameplay I don't think so I don't think it's good gameplay to go outside of his Alliance but is it entertaining to watch 100% like I'm finding it entertaining to watch and it gave us a bit of drama this week so for me I put my stamp of approval not on the game move itself but on the fact that he brought some drama to this week for me at least Callum was really confused by Michelle being angry which I thought was funny that he also couldn't put turn two together there and then after the challenge they have a bit of a club scene coming up and we get to see the start off the whole horio nus showman horio is man yeah shipping thisa you're all in but what about Jay saying that he was basically insinuating that nus is for the streets with his comment about her being a bit of a party girl andasio not knowing what he's getting himself into I don't think narus would be too happy if she hears these comments from Jay afterwards Jay is somebody that she trusts in the game and he is saying she's for the street scooner yeah that's I don't know that's he

28:17 Didn't use the words but it felt a little bit [ __ ] Shamy or something along those lines didn't it which I wasn't cool with and they've shown like they're obviously a very happy couple at the moment yeah so yeah that was cool and we also saw I think the starts of Olivia and nce having a bit of a rivalry or something perhaps as well just a hint of a comment there from Olivia when she started seeing narice and harass it was interesting I watched it twice right and the first time I watched it I was like is Olivia being jealous here by saying what she's saying but then she ends up actually kind of saying like you know everybody starts off differently and that this was a slow bur maybe and she kind of seems happy at the end so I was like I was finding it confusing because it started off like okay where's this going is she being bitter and then at the end it kind of felt like she was endorsing it so I don't know where it sits but apparently Olivia and nus they don't follow each other on socials anymore yeah that's what I'm saying like I think it might have been the original sprinklings of something there the not necessary jealousy as in I want to be with horia but you know the whole like best friend when the new girlfriend comes along does the best friend all of a sudden get you know get moved to the side a little bit more and yeah like I was here first not in a romantic way but he still my Hario where Ryder dies you know what I

29:37 Mean like we'll see how that plays out it's gonna be interesting good call out very good call out Chris is saying Jay is mad jealous no one wants his loser ass obviously he was also very insecure with Michelle in the previous week saying that yo do you love him more than me now so Jay's coming a out he's coming off a little bit creepy this season I will say Danica say good point Cory and Amanda that would be fierce let's have a look here Jay never had a girlriend him and Michelle have hooked up I know that they have hooked up before outside of the game Ki says he dated Michelle yep there you go Willie says and look how that turned out they've broken up going back and forth It's like a heavyweight match up in the bloody live chat with zingers flying left right and Center Luciana says I think we all waiting for Olivia fight with nus but not today kiwi SK saying oh my God that would be so messy duu saying Jay dated Morgan then bamas came along that is right and then Lena says I always had a feeling Olivia had a crush on herio but she was content with being his friend and then Lee says I think Jay was saying nuse likes to have fun not relationships yep that's why I said he was he was basically insinuating she's for the for the streets she's not she's not going to be a loyal girlfriend but hey

30:58 Every girl has to find a man at some stage and why not a good boy like aaso being out there for narus it could be become something longterm and like Kahuna said they're still together right now but during this period we had another really fun scene here as well a little bit of character moments happening CA with kyin having a conversation with Big T and Big T telling him to back off from Melissa if he doesn't want to get a vote to go into the arena I thought that was really funny she said I want Melissa back me my Melissa back in this club scene do you remember that yeah I didn't know she was I didn't really get I thought like I like that Big T is obviously protective of her best bud I like that a lot she was joking she was joking yeah but how did that yeah she was joking I know but it was I was like what do you mean like how's backing off of a to not get a vote like the thing that confused me and I know we're not talking about last week's episode was like the whole big T coming out as gay and I was like where's this coming from like is she really and then apparently she did date a girl and but she also finds herio cute like so yeah that just came from nowhere last week I wasn't aware of anything were you aware of Big T dating woman and things like that no I don't came from nowhere yeah it was nice though I thought that good on her yeah good on her

32:18 Like it's just it was just I you I still remember Big T having a crush on CT that's still what's in my mind you know yeah it's could be by I appreciate the fact that I you know what like I'm I think I'm just too cynical man I see the M the code in The Matrix and I watched that bit going they're smart they're like if we put a coming out party and make it all about that there's no way they cannot show it they have to give us all that air time you know what I mean they're like I was like am I being a little bit too cynical that they have they gain the system I'm very cynical I'm very cynical I'm even cynical about the poly stuff that came out earlier this year about him being the big bad and now everybody's on his side because it's very hard to hate someone that goes through that experience you know so U but Big T was loved prior to this you know so it wasn't like she needed to be loved anymore so but yeah I agree with it was just an interesting scene and then obviously she's got the whole scene here with kylin this week about Melissa which I found very funny then back at the house we also have Melissa grilling Emanuel a little bit and this is the first time we kind of get a little bit of a sense that emanuel's been hearing his name being thrown around he potentially could be going in and Melissa saying well if I save you this week will you be coming after me next week and we do know that the UK Girl
