The Challenge 40: Player Draft

1:33 We were just talking beforehand but after like getting to 5 seconds on the timer my heart started beating really quickly for some reason it's not like we haven't done like 15 of these already but this one in particular I'm like why am I so nervous is it because you don't want to do in the same placement as you did your last draft or the last two drafts or the last three out of the last four drafts yeah it's been it's been rough it's been a rough time for the angel cake situation I've tried everything except for leaving my feelings at home and bringing Just Pure stats and numbers so that's what I'm going to be doing you're doing stats numbers today okay taking a Chris approach yeah well I'm not doing stats numbers today so he can have he can have the stats and numbers today I'm going off gut this is a good cast I think we spoke about this beforehand the only person I wasn't too familiar with was a like this is probably the most I've known and on any of these SE where so many of the old school players come back all stars have been good to me because it's introduced me to a lot of the old school players so I feel a bit more comfortable coming into this draft but Chantel you weren't here when we did our previous draft the audience chose your team this time you are here you're back for Revenge how you feeling I me I don't know if I going to do any better but it was painful like watching like my pics

4:14 I've got a and I you know I've got the confidence that goes with it but now I've got the pressure to keep it so I was like stressing about this because I didn't do a lot of the research leading up to it yesterday I was doing all my sort of who am I going to pick I'm putting it all yesterday oh shoot I think I've got I've got well it's 9:00 a.m. here I had to do it yesterday I'm not waking up this morning to do it so yeah I think I've got strategy but unfortunately for me part of my strategy included watching Drew's video breakdown of the trailer oh man and I was like oh so if I'm getting my tips from watching his breakdown he's got it all up here I'm in trouble it's you know like he's done it all so many sticky notes just hold it there I just want to give my camera can you do that again please okay let's get into it guys this is going to be a very jam-packed draft because these 40 players that we need to get through so we're going to try and keep it short and sweet today when we're talking about the players we were saying before we went on to the live try and keep it to a minute when we talk about all of these players as best we can I won't bring out the clock immedi but if I feel like we're going a little bit over I do have a little timer that we can use with a with a horn

5:34 That'll go off so we can keep on top of who we're talking about and you know with the live obviously we know you're there thank you so much for jumping on it's great to have all of you there we'll bring up comments where we can but we do need to be a little bit more Snappy I think today with the amount of people that we're going to have to talk about so the first thing we're going to do is we're going to go to the wheel of names and we are going to have a hopper to start us off on this season we know it's everybody's favorite the hopper so we brought it back to the live draft as well how it's going to work is whoever's name gets selected gets to choose another contestant's placement in the draft and then we'll spin it again until the next person choose another contestants placement in the draft you can't choose yourself and then the person who has not picked at the end they will choose if we go with women or if we go with men first in this draft so without further Ado let's get straight into it to see who is going to be choosing this is theing part yeah my heart just dropped oh okay rigged for Chantel because Chantel is going first in the draft I'm going to choose to go first on this draft okay so going to remove my name I've got a bunch of extra names in

9:35 She is somebody that doesn't necessarily have a lot of friends but I think if we're having our regular drafts we're gonna have a lot of points if she's gonna have to go down I think that she will come out at least a few times so I think that she will get me a lot of points there are a lot of women on this season that are very strong but I do have faith in her going deep into the season and I could easily see her winning this season so I don't want to let Chris have the opportunity to get his favorite player out of all the women because he put me in the first position I thought it I had to honor him by taking car Maria see I'm already in your head Chantel you're picking players based on who you think I'm going to be picking and I think that you know going by that strategy you're in trouble because I'm I don't play this game with my emotions I go with logic you know I look at the table I look at the chess board who's in the game and I'm going to go in a different direction this time in any case that's perfectly fine but I do not think that you would have let car Maria go so I would it's a fair it's a fair call I wouldn't so thoughts Drew on K Maria being picked first she had a very dominant season in All Stars fell short in the end do you like this pick I love it I love this pick I had carar as my number one

10:55 On the women's side she just came off of making her like sixth final even though there was a lot of years in between season 34 and Allstars 4 but she just made her sixth Final in a row which is close to a record if not a record and yeah she's doing a great job you're down to get confessionals you're down to get some probably drama points she's gonna be thrown into at least one elimination you know and she has a really good shot of making a final as long as there's no Star Loop I just think that it is dirty tactics to play all nice by putting Chris second and then taking her and sniping your girl right in front of you dirty it shows the desperation from chatel she really wants to win this am I the drama am I the villain Kahuna fors I mean Cara's Cara she's proven herself to be a number one draft pick I think in perpetuity whether it's I think like we saw in the allar even if it's not men women like he's got to be a top consideration regardless of gender every single time she plays the game because she's that good so I think she was going to be number one pick for the women regardless it's either her or a couple

12:15 Of others maybe I was about to say something there great Pi always a great Pi with Cara yeah this is the thing with kuna you just let him talk you know the game plan he's not us the notes yet he's not pulling full Micha like Drew did here showing us his notebook but we are still aware of where Kahuna is going to go in this draft and based on the fact that I know where he's going to go in the draft I am going to take his girl away from him as well in this draft I'm gonna take Tori as my first Pi I'm more than happy to have Tori in my team she is someone that is well connected she's part of the vacation Alliance so I think that I'm playing with like I said my mind here I don't care about feelings don't care about if people like her or not I'm going for the dub SOA taking your girl so using Chantel's strategy you know she's shown me that there is no love in this war that we're having here today we're just going we're going for the we're going for the thr kuna how's what's your thoughts about Tori being taken off the board so quickly I'm surprised like and I obviously rank her very highly but I thought considering ing this you know the caliber of this cast I thought maybe she might even slide to the second round for me

13:36 Because I just thought people would be picking with their heart of you know above their head she socially she's good socially you're playing smart man and I wasn't prepared I thought I'd have her locked in the second round because no one would want her straight up not have got Drew would have taken her I could tell by Drew's reaction I can tell this is hurting this is hurting Drew more than it's hurting Kahuna at the moment surprisingly even I who's not a fan of Tori really have her in the first round so yeah she would she would have gone my strategy's gone then I'm like defending chion com back hate defending Champion coming back to the main season so you know Drew thoughts great pick I had her as my number two because of the confessionals the same almost the same reasons that I would save for car Maria except for or she's not car Maria like she's two buddy buddies with a lot of the people so you're not going to get as many drama points but she can win eliminations she's going to get you confessionals I have a I have a secret weapon I've been using and the numbers say that her confessionals are through the roof during her whole challenge career so far so I mean loves him yeah so I mean she's going to be a narrator people are going to be lost in the edit

14:56 And a lost among all these big personalities and 40 people Tor is not going to be one of them it's going to be mainly car Maria and Tor is going to be the two people up front yeah Chantel thoughts before we move on you said you were gonna pick her first round as well yeah she's in my first round so you know I'm not the biggest fan of her as you know personality and all that stuff but you know I can recognize that she's well positioned and well liked by production wants to see her on the season for a long time and if there might some producer manipul or something like that could favor her I think that they would want to keep her in so I just think that just because she's liked by everybody a lot of people I just think that she's going to last a long time and she is able to defend herself physically usually and she has a lot of friends so yeah it's definitely a good pick even though she's not my favorite person all right Kahuna you've got time to take some Revenge here or you know choose the first female pick you wanted to with females you've got the third pick here now who are you going to go for Ben okay I would have taken Tori straight away I'm gonna make a pick here I think it's a good pick but it goes towards my broader strategy that I'm working towards

16:16 Which I'm not going to say what it is but I wonder if people can work out when they see some of my picks if there's actually some thought process behind it but my first pick is going to be Jenny West Jenny W so someone that I think a lot of people are very happy to see come back after not being on the show for a while she's a champion she hasn't had the opportunity to come back very strong athletic pick for this one here angel cake what's your thoughts I mean you're going to have to pick the fourth the fourth female after this going in third place here yes so Jenny is somebody that I was kind of nervous about when putting up the stats because right Jenny is super strong I just don't know with how long she's been away from the show I can't remember exactly how much camera time she has gotten and I know yeah so I mean she's in the green for like the average confessionals for her appearances but it's only two but she's a really strong competitor she's going to win or she's going to like push through you know she's going to go into an elimination and can win against anybody man or woman and I just think it's a really solid pick I have her third mainly solely based off of how many times we see her in the trailer she is like everywhere

17:37 In that trailer she is she was like seen over 10 times which is more than CT more than derell more than Derek I mean she's everywhere in that trailer so for me I think it's a really solid pick I had her third but this is where we're getting to the point where third through five of the women I'm like kind of juggling here and now I feel like I have a really difficult decision to make but enough about me what does everybody else think about this pick I mean I think it's a good pick I had Jenny really high up I was curious about her for the fact that she just never really has that many confessionals and so I just don't know much draama she'd bring so yes she might get points if people aren't too scared to go against her like I don't think she's gonna fall in the bottom and be automatically voted in or anything like that and so I don't know how many points she might get yet but I can definitely see her getting to the end and doing well in the final so winning even so that's why I was kind of hesitant maybe about Jenny just because I just don't know how many points she might get me but she's a solid competitor absolutely and she has longevity 100% yeah any final thoughts Kahuna on Jenny before we move on yeah like she's obviously incredibly strong and you know what for her specifically

18:57 I'll tell you a bit about why her is that I'm hoping that some of these big names that I would probably rank ahead of her will be targeting each other that there's a lot of drama going on that someone like Jenny West as capable and as strong as much of a threat as she is I feel like her Threat Level will be managed in a cast like this and she'll be able to fly under the radar a bit might not be good for confessionals and drama points Etc but she will be there and I think if she gets thrown into elimination she's obviously incredibly capable of coming back so I think it's a safe choice that way interesting giving us a little bit of your strategy there are you about picking some players that maybe won't get the heat immediately obviously we see this in Survivor a lot of the times when players come back the big names are the ones that are targeted first those are the ones that people want to get away early in the game Shantel should I say what I think his strategy is then yeah go for it go for it I think Kahuna's strategy is to have the most people going in into the final it won me all stars it won me allar fair enough fair enough it's a great strategy it's great yeah get a lot of points right you got to you got to be in the end to potentially win it and also the longer you're there the more chances are you can you can get

20:17 Points in the end of the game so Drew over to you've got the fourth overall pick here lots of time for you to think about it which direction are you going to go into so there's two women like up for grabs in my opinion and it's the two best women left on the board and that is Rachel and Laurel I think I see them both very as physical Beasts of the competition I'm you guys were giving me a lot of great time to do this but I'm trying to figure out and this is where I'm like leaning into the stats more and who I think is better aligned coming into this game I think this person that I'm going to be grabbing is trans is in a web that is both spanning of old and new eras and I think they that even though they their one season on allst Stars 4 did not go as they thought it would be I think that they are coming in at a much better position even though they didn't do as well as they probably had hoped as long as there's no star slice elimination I'm going to pick Rachel even though

21:37 I it's going to absolutely destroy me knowing that Chantel is going to be picking Laurel for the start of round two and have both car Maria and Laurel to on their team a great but I'm going to pick Rachel because she has been training over the years away from the show she has been training Tori and Josh in her Miami gym so she's basically coming in a part of the vacation Alliance as well as she has a lot of the OG's of Mark Derek derell having her back CT is gonna have her back all the people that are gonna be in the gym rats of aaso and everybody are going to have her back even though they're not in the vacation Alliance and I just don't think that Laurel is going to be able to I there Laurel just hasn't had the consistency over the years and she had to have a really hokey way of winning Allstar 4 and that oh it was so amazing but it's like and I think just for what happened in Allstars 4 it burned me to the point where I don't think I can handle rooting for Laurel on my team and hoping that she can pull out a second win in a row so I'm gonna hope that Rachel's connections of Cara vacation Alliance Tori Josh and all these other people everybody she's worked out with on the challenge YouTube channel will help her

22:57 Stay in the game long also Tina by the way shout out to Tina Chantel FS yeah mean obviously I love this pick I love Rachel I didn't think that we got to see enough of her on All Star 4 just kind of a disappointing game that she went out on throwing stars at a wall against car Maria like what like what are we watching why so yeah I think I'm excited to see Rachel really play really show how amazing she is physically I forgot about the fact that she even had the connection with you know training people in her gym so yeah I'm really curious to see how well she does with all the connections that she has I think it's a great pick of course yeah kuna thoughts on Rachel being picked here in the spot Rachel's a solid pick I was hoping again for that she might slide a little bit without the name recognition in recent Years anyway like obviously she's Rachel like we all know that but very solid pick I was hoping her poorer performance in All Stars might you know drop her stocks a bit but she looked solid up until that really silly elimination game and I think she looked really good in all Stars 4 she's got the connections like Drew said she's a really strong pick and I would have loved to have her on my team I

24:17 Think yeah I think All Stars was perfect for Rachel in the sense that it got her back in the game like she hasn't done it for so long she's now been back in it you know the cobwebs have been dust it off so if there's a season where she's going to come back hard it's going to be this season she's not going to she's a competitor she's not going to be happy about having gone home early in that season and I've always said I like people with a chip on their shoulders you know when they come in and they're like I need to prove myself this season I need to do really well and I think Rachel will have that this season so I like this pick from you drew I think if she if you didn't pick her she's she definitely wouldn't have fallen back to you so that's what made this decision so hard because there were three people that were going to pick before you before you had an opportunity Piel didn't pick next you know like so yeah good pick overall here on this one back to you though Drew because you do have to pick the first male pick of the Season we do know you love those picks I'm very interested to see where you're going on this one because there's a trend in some of the drafts that we've had you've always picked this player as your first pick I'm wondering if you're going to go back in this direction or if it's going to or if you're going to switch it up if you're going to switch it up I'm very interested to see so Drew who's your first pick so coming into this draft and well before the trailer dropped I was so

25:37 Ready to pick CT easily gonna pick CT and then that trailer dropped and my heart dropped and it made me re-evaluate a lot of things and so now it's between two guys that one of both are not going to come back to me e either one would never come back to me I have to I have to go with somebody that is who's in Stellar performance who is who has won recently and they won in a season very similar to this with a lot of players who were on this kind of season a milestone season and came out on top of that one with a lot of the players that were on this season and that season and so I'm gonna go with and he and he only looks like he's gotten better over the years since seven years ago in dirty 30 I'm going to pick Jordan yep that would have been my number one pick 100% so it's a good pick not surprised by it definitely a conversation can be had with Jordan like if he comes into this season he wins this season you know is he starting to get into the bananas CT you know Stratosphere like he's got a very high success rate in going to finals winning already four championships I believe at this stage for him or four

26:57 Wins so if you look all the seasons if you put them together which I feel like the challenge is Loosely doing these days in any case so fully appreciate it I mean obviously he's going to be confrontational he's going to get drama points he's not going to get along with everybody Jordan is going to be Jordan out there which will be interesting to watch I just think he's one of those people you throw him in doesn't matter he can come back he can beat most people and eliminations so the one thing I know you said CT and all that and I saw it as well I don't know where body's going to pick CT it's like will they make it that obvious though that's what I was going to say like are they really going to show him being taken off in a Stretcher if he's not going to be fine I just feel like they wouldn't show that whole scene but then maybe they would I don't know that's what got me in my head about it too and but it's also that thought of like him leaving even if he comes back it's like what if yeah what kind of percentage is he at that point so that also played a factor in there but yeah I mean I can't hate on it like you're going for current form and Jordan's is a very solid pick I would have had him Pro I would have I like taking the risky picks in any case and I would have probably if I had to choose between the two I'd be like I'll go for the for the Young Gun Chantel you know how I like the Young Guns you know the ones that's in shape 30 and unders is the way that you like to

29:38 The way I wanted I thought Tor might slide to like maybe I thought Rachel might slide a little bit and the only reason why I picked women to go first is because I knew at third pick there's no chance I get Jordan but maybe if I'm picking second CT might go first or something like that and Jordan Maybe available if someone made a mistake but it's not a mistake Jordan's the right pick I think anytime he's in it now he's got to be the first pick for the guys he's just in that he's in the same Stratosphere as a bananas in a CT but he is younger and Jordan's a great pick duu and for the second pick I think CT would have been a lock if I didn't watch Drew's trailer breakdown for me so because of that I got to go with Mr challenge himself even if he doesn't win you know he's going to get a million a million confessionals and he's got the links he's got the connections he's got the relationships Mr bananas himself is going to my team and I got Jenny and bananas they won together well Johnny did come second team

30:58 Total Team total Madness yeah so interesting pick is a lot of Silence when you picked bananas I know bananas have come under Fire in recent times I kind of you know if Kahuna is the Devon of this podcast you know the Young Buck the New Generation winner of the draft then Drew is really the bananas of the Season you know we started off he had a lot of championships he is still ahead of everybody when it comes to winning the drafts and coming back for some renge this season is banana still got you does he still have that fire in him can he can he bring can you bring another W home like the season feels like it's kind of set up for a bananas to do well in because it's we know it's not an individual season it's teams right going up against each other so we should have more people winning and I do think that he's going to be a valuable member with we haven't spoken much about it but another part of this is who can work within a team who's going to do well within a team and who's got skill sets that will complement other people within that era those are all things that will come into play this season I do think there will be a level of people not wanting to get rid of bananas because he's got experience you know all of them have got experience but no one has more experience than bananas being on the show understanding what production does with all these daily challenges so that in itself is a valuable asset for a team to have when bananas is in it so I think Drew bananas is a very solid pick at number two here

32:18 For I don't know how you feel about it I definitely think he should still get the respect that he deserves being one of the most decorated Challengers of all time how do you feel about this I think it's a great pick I had him number two on my list right behind Jordan he's going to have confessionals in the average confessional him and Jordan are like neck and neck he's been featured in the trailer a ton you know he's going to get a lot of confessionals even with how old he is he is looking like in great shape and he has got a lot of connections and he's coming in after burying the hatchet with Paulie so even if car is not huge into him he's got paie on his side he's got Theo he's got Jenny I mean he was good with the vacational Alliance in 38 I mean I don't know it's going to be a rough treading for the vacation Alliance because they have so many friends coming into this and so many people they've buried the hatchet with I don't know who's going to get the raw end of the deal probably all the newer players in Era four they're all going to dump on them first but I think it's a great pick and I expect him to go have a good season oh go at least a MIT they might like go between us first round but yeah bananas is you he's a safe pick I don't I actually was thinking with like my Kahuna mind and I was like oh I think that I might actually have him fall to me because I feel like people have

33:38 A little more dazzle and like they're gonna think he's too old and maybe I'm gonna be able to get bananas so you were able to snipe him I think he's a great pick of course I think that he's very consistent I don't think the show is going to really let him leave that early I don't know how they might influence but I just don't see him being voted off first or being out of there you know in the early stages of the game so I know you know he's gonna go deep you know he's gonna get a lot of confessionals you know he's probably gonna win a bunch of stuff like dailies and stuff so of course he's a great pick I expect to see him in every final for the most part so H for the long this is now where it gets hard like I've been looking at the draft trying to pick another guy here and it's obviously I know CT is like he's that next person you got to think about CT and like I said will they show CT being taken off if that is a thing is he coming back but like Drew said how is he coming back is he going to do well then you got to think about confessionals so there's a couple of different things playing into my mind right now who can make a final and actually potentially win it and then if they're there who can give me some confessionals as well at the same time and I'm a risk taker I always have been a risk taker I don't think I should change that it's gotten me it's gotten me close to

34:58 Well it's got to be a couple of wins in recent Seasons until Kahuna join and due to that I might I might stay away from CT even though CT is the safe pick at this stage and I'm going to go somewhere else here which I know people in the in the live won't understand it I've got all the respect in the world for CT great competitor [Music] but I'm just wondering if there's someone else that could be underestimated this season that could go further and for that reason I'm going to go with Devon instead for my first pick wow yeah okay Drew's left he's left the ball you have Tor and Jordan is that what's happening there I've got Tori and divon yeah I've gone for the recent the recent Champions in this group again similar Deon someone that has got a lot of connections he's from a social standpoint he's going to get confessionals I don't know I've not done the amount of research that Drew's done on the season but I am also scared about someone that potentially couldn't get to the final so I want to choose someone that potentially could get close to the final or has an abled body throughout this whole season who's become a

36:18 Bit of a favorite with production recently in recent Seasons so I feel like he's someone that could go deep this season so I'm gonna I'm going to go with him his team's going to need him as well so wow number one pick he'll love hearing that I'm sure he listens to the podcast but he'd love hearing that yeah I think I think I think Devon personally he's gotten better and better over the years and again like people still underestimate him he's a champion but people don't look at him as a champion and I think that could make him slide he could go a lot deeper than what people even think and then strategically if he gets a foothold into the game with the likes of atoran that vacation Alliance from a social standpoint like I can see him get to a final I just don't want to take the risk on like CT is a legend but I don't want to take a risk there if he's not going to make the final if he's not going to be in the end of the game so that's why it's a very difficult decision to make but I feel like I need to take that risk I'm a risk taker Drew you had the biggest reaction what's going on well I shouldn't have had that reaction because in my early Power Rankings before the trailer I had Devon as my fourth best man pick behind Jordan CT and bananas and then when I after the trailer I had them I have them hovering around five next to CT as like Co Fifth after the stretcher yes I would
