The Challenge USA 2: Episode 13 Review

0:13 [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] welcome back to the nullified Tech Channel on YouTube where we have the TNT takes for you on the Challenge USA episode 13 that's right we're getting close to the final in fact the next episode will be the final and Kahuna and I we're back to dissect judge and have some laughs about all of the action of the last episode overall it was a pretty somber episode at times kuna because we had a few people here that really sort of questioned their own identity within the challenge and how they would be perceived by the outside world playing the g a couple of things here early on in the episode that we get is Cassidy

1:33 Coming back feeling very high on herself why wouldn't she's just one three Arenas she's doing extremely well at this point the confidence is with her Tori is giving her props Tori is saying that she has had to do it the hard way then you've got I guess Josh really questioning why he's still out there he hasn't proven himself yet he feels like he's got that impostor syndrome going on and a similar kind of thing is happening with Chanel early on in the episode as well where she feels like she hasn't necessarily proven herself yet and that she had a pretty average run on Survivor so she kind of feels like an imposter as well so those were kind of the story lines that were given to us here very early on and I will say Kahuna as soon as that happened I thought H Josh and Chanel and maybe Cassidy all three of them will be in the action later on in the episode yeah they did they didn't sort of hide it in the edit at all did they like I was like oh we're getting a lot of Josh very early in this episode so I'm like oh okay I see got get money yeah gotta get that money's worth a lot of feelings though big feelings I'll come back to you in one second let's just let's just let's just say hello because it's gonna it's GNA be a Josh heavy recap I feel like so we're gonna be talking about him a lot kiwi skir here in the live giving us the pink hand wave Emoji hello Kiwi

2:53 George back in the live as well hello woolly back in the live saying that the whole braw was disappointing I agree but we'll talk about that a little bit later on definitely feels like they brought out the kitty gloves for the CBS royalty playing the game here they don't want to scare them off too badly when it comes to the challenge but let's get into the episode let's get into I guess what sort of happened here early on Josh and fessie sits down and they talk about the fact that a whole braw have not been in the game yet and fessie gives him pointers on how to run a h braw what poetic Justice that we have in this episode with the two boys sitting down there talking about the potential of a whole bra and then it coming to F they even had the like the playback when Josh and fessie was running up against each other where fessie was saying to Josh keep low you know and Josh didn't keep low Josh did not keep low but it was it was interesting that he's giving all these tips on how to do well in a holl how you can possibly win a h roll with it potentially to come back against him but I mean we're talking about Josh so he's probably safe in that regard but yeah they throw in twists though to make it not a h BR HB like light or whatever it is yeah Diva welcome back to the live it's good to have you back

4:14 We've got Danica as well welcome back to the live as well yeah it was it was a very interesting one there wasn't much that happened in the early stages prior to going into the actual daily but when they go into the daily we get this two hot air balloons up there with this mive balance being between them and a ladder and kuna I've got to say I was quite impressed by this daily it was visually quite appealing to see people climb this ladder knowing that Michaela was freaking out prior to getting on the ladder I was I was really intrigued to see how people would do there and again fessie sort of high on himself that he can win this one did reasonably well but what was your thoughts on this specific daily and how would you have done if you had to go up let's say you got up there because I know you're going to say you wouldn't have climbed up the ladder but if someone placed you on the hot air balloon and you had to go over the balance beam how do you reckon you could have done yeah not good man not good at all so after the L yeah when you're like when you built like a when your center of gravity is like really weirdly spaced balance beams up in the air between two hot balloons is not hot air balloons is not my thing I'm not great at balancing so knock me over but on a beam like that where it's just me n I'm not doing

5:34 That I was going to say doing the challenges out there is not Kahuna's sport that's not what he does talking Cory on the mic that is Kahuna's sport I will say I'll put it down for Andre Lee even though you're not in the chat this Hall brw with a puzzle at the end I would have smashed Cory I would have destroyed oh no but what if Cory had like the same strategy that FY had which was just running up and down and gissing yeah I hated that we'll talk about that we'll talk about that a little bit later on far as the hot air balloons go I was I was a little bit mixed actually because you're right I think it looked amazing and when I saw I was like look got actual hot air balloons like up in the sky but then the actual challenge itself I was a little bit down on I was a little bit disappointed on the climb maybe if they were like even higher like even though that's ridiculous but no one failed it no one really even struggled with it except for Micha so I think it looked great but it was one of those ones where the challenge is always innovating and sometimes it pays off sometimes it doesn't for me the climb was like looked intense endurance type base thing it looked hard but the balance beam took about 3 seconds for everyone no one struggled with it they all kind of got across and I was like oh it's a little bit a little bit funny in that regard but it did look really

6:54 Cool maybe what I thought they could have done was have them go up on the opposite balloons why a platform meet in the middle and get each other off great yeah exactly that's exactly what I thought when I first saw the two sides of the you know two hot air balloons two ladders going up I was like okay they're going to get them to go up there then they're going to face off in the middle and someone's going to fall because for us the viewers it's more entertaining when someone Falls and I think the reason that it fell flat was because no one fell on the balance beam everybody actually made it from the one side to the other side I will say one thing looking at them going from one platform to the other platform up there that beam was moving it was not a solid beam so Props to all of them for actually getting from one side to the other without falling off the biggest of props to the person who I think she's solidified herself for me this season as my favorite the person I want to win this season I'll feel disappointed if she won't win the season now I came into this season as a Desy fan I'm still a Desy fan but des's kind of been she's been a bit Bland at times on the show where Michaela's given us a lot so I just feel like Michaela is now the person who has to go into the finalist the hot favorite the edit wants her to win at least

8:14 Because she's been giving us most of the confessionals for the newbies she's overcome her fears and like banana said there are two kinds of people in this world they are the people that when they get a challenge they go back into their shell and they're like I can't do this is too complicated and then get people who are normally Champions and winners at life and in games such as this the ones that throw themselves at the challenge they're like I'm scared but I'm going to perform within the challenge and he's right we have not seen anybody perform in such a manner on the challenge so how impressed are you by Michaela and the fact that she's got this ability to absorb the pressure to absorb the fear and then still get into action and actually do it that's the craziest part is that anyone that is genuinely scared of heights it is absolutely debilitating it's crippling like we've seen some other people like on the challenge itself get up there and then turn around and walk down or leave the challenge or whatever it is but Michaela for her to be able to get to that point where she's almost like stuck Frozen panicking all the stuff that comes with a genuine fear and she somehow like harnesses it into like this energy ball that she uses to propel herself forward and it's amazing she is an absolute super Superstar and to get that kind of comment from bananas the Undisputed or maybe not Undisputed

9:35 But arguably the goat of the challenge earlier in the season we saw her get props from Wes another goat of the challenge giving his stample of stamp of approval she's winning she's strategic she's doing everything to stamp herself and I said a few episodes ago or earlier on in the season I definitely said the way Michaela is playing and edited right now she could be a future face of the franchise and the funny thing is she's actually playing it with the current female face of the franchise Tori is dubbed the queen of like not by the fans she's getting a lot of she always gets a lot of flack but by the production definitely she seems to be the favored female at the moment and Michaela is on a season with her out shining her outperforming her out everything her and that's the current Queen of the current champion of the of the flagship season and the current sort of favored princess of the show and Michaela is beating her in everything at the moment it's amazing that's interesting I think she's beating her almost at everything I think that Tori is standing her own ground in the confessionals but it's two dailies for Tori on her own playing solo not counting the teams and I think three daes for Michaela after this win as well so she's just surpassed

10:55 Her on the way to the final but let's say hello to a few more people that have dropped to the live Le welcome back to the live Pete welcome back to the live as well D says I thought had good final edit prior to this episode his confessionals looked happy and smartly dressed as though he'd won sad for him he didn't make the finals but okay with him not winning we will talk about that a little bit later on Willie says the daily wasn't good because I didn't see the timer so again there's always going to be the whole thing like someone from production could have yeah someone from production could have like done what they wanted to do to get who they wanted to end but I don't think I don't think that was the case to be honest because I don't know if they necessarily wanted two survivors to win this and if they wouldn't want to favor people that they've invested a lot of time in over years and years to get to the final so I don't know if I'm with that Alise says the daily and eliminations were both boring D says I was so glad Michaela won I'm really rooting for her for her struggling and still winning she's a boss definitely Pete says collecting something along Ong the clim and then assembling or solving something after the beam would have made the episode better yeah that would have been actually really cool imagine if they had to go up the ladder Kahuna and as they got inside of the hot air balloon there's a puzzle for them to complete before they can go onto the beam to add like an extra level to

12:16 Of complexity to the timer I think it would have set people apart they could have added more to maybe like you know how they always do things where they have to go along something and get a they're either jumping or reaching for a peg or a stick or something like that maybe along the beam halfway down you have to actually bend down and get something from underneath or you know you have to kind of figure out some sort of rather than just slow like that would have been hard and maybe we would have had a lot more Falls but yeah some added level of complexity to it I prefer I would have seen the fight at the top knock each other off even if they did it with the pads from H you know something like glad Style with the with the batons there's something at the top where they sort of meet you couldn't do it with five women so yeah no I agree with you dedica here says Willie Lloyd I bet next season they will start having timers and more visual accountability this has been a an issue on the challenge for a very long time denica and people have complained about it I feel like for a very long time so if they haven't done it up until this point I don't know if they will do it moving forward we'll see Ki SK says yes totally PK needed more to the Challenge on the daily challenge say I wonder if they're eating the CBS group into the challenges the use so easing the CBS group into the challenge

13:36 Challenges the USA are not as risky or Cutthroat I think some of it probably came down to complaints that were made from the previous group I feel like probably made its way into to this one but anyways I've got thoughts about it you guys have being coming in hot here with the braw and we want to keep the H braw chat for a little bit later so we'll bring it up K skir says if they are going to continue using the kitty gloves then it isn't a real challenge how can they all call The Challenge when there's no challenge yeah like I said I've got thoughts we bring it up a little bit later on Pete says Mela did what derell probably wouldn't have that is something to not of note for me that is true will says imagine if Mela and Daryl became Partners on a season Michela would kick Dell's ass and tell him to get it done just move do it I hate heights as well but let's get through it there was MTV this is a CBS yeah that's true there is some slight differences but I think majority of the show is still being run by the same people at the end of the day but CBS probably has a little bit more of a directive that they definitely I know CBS has a lot to say when it comes to things like The Amazing Race and Survivor as well I don't know how much they're interfering with the production currently on the on the challenge to be honest but overall there were 14 seconds between Tori and Michaela winning and then between the men

14:57 Three seconds between fessel and Chris finally getting another Dub here finishing extremely strong with two dailies in a row heading into the final and you've got to seuna all the momentum is with him he's won four eliminations two dailies who's going to stop this guy in the final right now is there anyone that can stop him the only one really like just based on reputation and history alone would be bananas I don't think fessie and Cory suching Chris at the moment so for me at the moment it's Chris and bananas or bananas and Chris either way 1 a 1B but Chris is having a phenomenal season he won three eliminations in a row including one against Wes and then two individual dailies to get him to this final he's Mike Hollow his way into the like all the way through and I know that there's this there's this guy I've told you about before Chris he's his name is also Chris he puts maths and he does algorithms towards it's a good towards ranking challenges and I asked him I said is Chris putting together potentially the greatest individual season ever like statistically what he's done or debut if you wait yeah what if you

16:17 Rate if you wait extra if you add any extra because it is a rookie season and then when you think about the vets that he's actually going up against and has taken on and has got to this point with it really is impressive like if he doesn't win if he wins it'll be the greatest individual win season I think ever in the history of the challenge if he doesn't win he still solidified himself as one of the best people to ever step into the game for the first time I it'll be different to see how he carries on if he can keep the success going or if he gets targeted too much or whatever but this one season that he's putting together is something we haven't seen before in the challenge which is phenomenal to see yeah it's like I've said it many times here before Chris was sort of primed for the challenge with the way that Survivor worked in his season having to fight his way back in the game to win it at the end that experience came in really handy so far within the challenge and it has translated really well and I also think the fact that Chris came in with probably not the biggest Target on his back people weren't looking at him at the start saying we need to get this guy out early on where if he does come and play a season in the future be that season 40 Battle of the Champions or whatever want to bring him into in the future they may look at him and say well this guy is somebody that you don't want to see in an arena CT is someone we don't want to see in an arena let's throw

17:37 Both of them against each other you know something like that they could they could Target him early on and try and get rid of like a big threat in the arena early on and that's what I would have done if I was out there plus he doesn't have the relationships yet and the social game which is probably still the weakness for him that other players will have in a game such as that so I think he could still be a Target if he comes back how would he handle that it's kind of like when you get a sports player playing their rookie season they bring a lot of new flare to the game people don't know quite how to read them and work him out and he has a great season and then the second season people have worked out the running lines they've worked out how he plays they've done their work the analysis so it's going to be interesting to see how that goes and I do agree with you bananas is still a threat to win even though he's a bit older now clearly it's shown that players still respect the seven titles because that there was a move here later on where they're trying to get the seven time Champion out of the game they don't want him to run a final Pete says Josh cries on the challenge like Tom runs in movies my mom asked me do you not like him being emotional I said no I don't like how he can harness or control them right interesting well I do think personally and obviously Josh has his moment here goes back he's in a he's in a bad place because now after this they

18:57 Got to talk about actually we're probably jumping the gun slightly in regards to this let me just backtrack a little bit back at the house F talks to Jos about the S time champ they need to like vote him out this is where we need to go but there's this conflict in Josh's mind right now because one of the things I will say about Josh and I've warmed up on Josh a lot over the last season or two I know people have always liked to bag on Josh because it's an easy thing to do he's the Goof you know it's easy just to fall back into the pattern let's dislike Josh you know and he brought a lot of that on him s in earlier Seasons I was annoyed as well but I'm always open-minded to anybody coming back playing the game where I'm like I'll give you another shot prove me wrong prove to me that there is more to you than the edit that you had in the previous season and just for the most part of the season I thought was really in control of his emotions he had that one freakout moment where he was forcing his team to vote the way he wanted or he would go into the arena he still does bonehead things at times where he's like I'll vote myself in rather than voting for bananas or I'll just vote myself and take Chris out because I'm going to take Chris out like I just don't get where that confidence sometimes comes from when it comes to Josh but I did feel bad for him putting himself in a position here where his strong social game is the thing that really caused them all of the headache at the end because he's got a great relationship with FY he now

20:17 Has this big relationship with bananas outside of the game which I wasn't aware of and those are the two people he don't want to go against and Cory he doesn't feel as aligned with and wants to vote but Fel looks at it as a direct attack on him so Josh was between a rock and a hard place in this specific moment I mean yeah he was but he didn't necessarily have to be in that spot like if anyone at this point of the game the final episode before the final challenge episode elimination everything before the final you have the ability to say look there's only two people like can pick from here fess's in Chris is winning I'm not picking myself or I mean Josh that's on the table but really you should say I'm not picking myself so it's either Corey or bananas and I know I love you fessie but I want to protect what I've got with bananas I'm close to bananas and Cory I'm voting Cory like it's a very logical easy discussion to have but for someone who's so emotional he also thinks that everyone else is going to be just as emotional in their reactions to him I also found it really funny like can I just say can I just say to that as well is that fessie really manipulated him here F really showed that

21:38 And he and he showed that in that friendship fessie wears the pants he's the he's the alpha in the relationship and he was like you know if you vote against Cory that's a move against me it's not a move against you fessie it's I'm saving another friend of mine I don't have that relationship with Corey and he's he took it like Josh was taking a shot directly at him like you said and that is emotional in a way as well because it's not a shot at fie I get it makes it harder for FY to get to the end but this is coming from the guy who ran a h braw against his boy n t you know he took a direct shot of someone so what moral not his strength yeah not his strength but like first of all the one thing that's really funny with me was they were acting like well first of all fessie was obviously very scared of Corey after getting wrestled and manhandled in that other CH he want to go up against him in h that's stood out to me fessie who is two and0 in the H or three and0 in the H now but has said he would beat CT in a h braw he thinks he'd beat Zack in a hbw he thinks he's Untouchable in a h bra but when Cory was gonna be put up he was like I don't he didn't want any part of that s me no he did not want that smoke at all but the other thing that I was watching it feeling confused in the moment I'm going they're acting

22:58 Like the hopper and the votes are not a thing like Josh has all of a sudden got all the power to control like he's not determining if it's Cory or bananas and the way they were talking about the decisions they were making was like they had ultimate power and whatever they say happened I know that when it comes to numbers and you're this low any vote makes a difference but they were acting like it was done and dusted and final and whatever Josh decided upon was going to be what was going to happen I was like what are they talking about I didn't really get that it's just the vote in the hopper and the hopper plays its part you know it was crazy to me I mean Tor had and this is again like people can hate on Tori and they're like a you know tor's this tor's that I get it a lot of people follow what she does outside of the game I don't I just watch the show myself and people can sometimes come in hot on her as well but she actually showed some maturity in the game here for me this specific round where she was like listen it's going to suck I have to vote against Josh I don't think Josh will ever vote for me I like Josh but I'm going to have to do it's my game I made a promise with the likes of Michaela and then Michaela came through and didn't vote her into the nomination so that deal kept standing basically at that point and she owned up to it walked up to J said hey I had to put a vote on you it's okay you know

24:18 But there's a difference between a direct vote and an indirect vote as well and that to me got was lost on FY bananas I do feel like and his right to be upset in this round like sometimes un like bananas just take it on the chin Own It own it because at the end of the day you are a seven time Champion you've got with that comes a lot of weight and a big Target people are going to swing at you whenever they can but I feel like bananas really does have this relationship and this friendship with Josh outside of the game and I feel like Josh is one of those people that needs people to emotionally be there for him at times and it sounds like bananas was that for him when he struggled with things outside of the game and he felt betrayed like a like a friend took a personal stab at him here in the game and bananas was so confident that what happened with W would never happen to him in the game he even said that in an earlier episode in an earlier confessional that my relationship with Josh is different we hang out outside of the game so I got why he was upset and I got why he was so annoyed with both of them and it just showed like the different generations of challenges right where back in the day it was a lot more I'll say things to your face and I'll take you on directly I'll stab you in the front when now it has become a bit more of a backstabby conniving Big Brother Survivor game which I prefer that game myself because it brings here to drama but I

25:38 Can see why there was a disconnect in the way the bananas plays the game compared to like a Tori and a Josh at this point well I think it may have been better if Josh didn't swear on his grandfather's life to his face you know was that was tough yeah like that's a hard thing to do and if he was you know pretty open with bananas from the start and sort of said look this is tough man I don't know what to do obviously I'm with you but I know Fess is going to want something as well so this is I'm struggling with this but he just said to him I will never ever vote for you with so much confidence and so much thing and then immediately turned on it I think that was what really got bananas I think if he was kind of a little bit downplaying it didn't Pump It Up that he would never ever for in the history of the world ever do anything against he may have lessened it a little bit I did love how Tori straight up told him into his face and Josh was so in his feelings and so about that I don't even know if heard it I don't know if he registered at all she go what I vot it for you and he's like but yeah Luciana welcome to the live says agree with kuna Josh's very main character minded with his votes Ki skit says I liked Jos more this season than ever before

26:58 I agree pet says in his interview with angel cake he that's with Drew he showed me how he is super cool in real world but how different he is on camera that irks me and I everybody that we've ever heard of when they talk about Josh outside of the game they say he's a really nice guy and I actually do believe it I think Josh is that kind of guy he's you know it's all about family you know and if you're like one of his close friends your family and he'll do everything for you I do I do think he is that guy outside of the game Pete says amen Chris Tori did what Josh should have done let's have a look here at a few more comments knock welcome back to the live says historically bananas always takes it personal when people he works with and break their word The Grudge also carries over into the next seasons like a good cancer he doesn't forget so definitely he has done himself no favors here at all interesting enough let's go into the nominations here we've got Michaela and Chris the two survivors sitting there saying that they've now proven that survivors can pack a heavy punch in the challenge that was already proven last season by Danny and Sarena but they definitely carrying on a bit of the Legacy here in this next season as well U Michaela wants to keep the word or the promise that she's made with Tori She's Not Afraid of running against Tori directly and I do think that this is a smart move by Michaela especially if she wants

28:18 To become a Mainstay person in the challenge Tori also probably will not forget the fact that Michaela could have taken a shot at her here even though Michaela she's been tempted more than once to take that shot she hasn't taken the shot which hopefully counts for something if she does play the game again the most interesting one for me was how both Survivor players turned on Cassidy and didn't even take a second think about it they were like let's throw it in and I felt bad for Cassidy because Chris should know more than anyone else who what it feels like to be thrown in there time after time again and he had like no mercy from him for Cassidy in this round well the really interesting thing in this is that obviously he knows that going to he's into the final now he wants the woman side to be stacked that he's going to potentially be paired up with yeah so like I was a little bit funny I was like you're not even going to try like even one word to save Cassy at all like not even like a fake one just to throw it out there for camera he's like okay cool whatever no Allegiance none no Al yeah he's a he's a freaking solo Warrior man he's gone down to the Sand by himself four times he's won by himself twice like that's his thing yeah he doesn't need anybody to help but I do agree with you probably the fact that Cassidy is seen still even after winning three eliminations

29:39 They still don't look at her as like a competitor out there and then for the men's vote Chris finally takes a shot at fessel so he doesn't get that perfect game that he's been hoping for the whole time he thought he had Chris fooled or that Chris was scared to throw him down there but Chris when the opportunity came at the most important time in the game he does end up throwing him down there and I love this because that's what kind of sets everything in motion where let's be honest when it's a brawl the one person you don't want to go up against is going to be fessie like you know yes fessie is somewhat uncertain about his ability to take on Corey but fessie is undefeated in Hall braws and he has taken on some decent competitors in there as well and I mean this is what he does right he's played American football up until college level it's the one guy let's be honest give him credit for at least that you don't want to take him on in a hall braw no and bananas knew that as well which is I think why he was like added to why he was so upset with Josh as well because he said like this is essentially I'm probably going home like I'm out gunned out manned against in a hall brawl if they're going to do a hall brawl or if they're going to do something physical which they all sort of have worked out that the last elimination of the season is going to be something physical and they know that FY getting picked automatically spells Doom for whoever's going up against him and that's why it did make it that little bit more elevated and more tense as to why

31:00 Every vote was so hard you know yeah willly here says I still think Chris should have nominated bananas because he is a seven time champion and when you win seven times you become dangerous there is real not only did my co-hosts for the draft not respect bananas coming into this draft and he's proven me right that he's there's still some kick in the legs and he's still in the draft and in fact I think I need to bring up the draft at some point we'll probably bring it up in the final week and I'll try and ask Drew what the points were on that so we can actually get a conclusion but I feel like I've got the most people still left in the game going into the final which is really good bananas has been doing really well but a lot of people on the actual show have been underestimating him kuna where they're saying he's like 10 years older than us and he's not going to keep up in a final like Chris backs himself against bananas he thinks it's going to be easy but Chris has never run a final he doesn't realize that there's different elements to a final there's going to be circus games which he seems to be good at when you look at yeah his track record in arenas he's had to already do some circus like games in there but it's different when you go into a final and you don't know what to expect versus having run one before and bananas is really good at them yeah even if it's just for the simple fact of like having it feel so big and overwhelming like the when you've been there and done that

32:20 Before and run it before you're kind of okay in that environment nothing's going to be shocking nothing's going to be surprising or maybe shocking surp but you know what I mean you're not going to be overwhelmed by the enormity of the situation when you've done it seven time or done it however many times a one seven of them so Chris I think he's obviously built up that confidence with real evidence like he's gone down four times he's won multiple eliminations he backs himself because of what he's done he's not backing himself because of some madeup fantasy in his head like Josh so wants to do it he's got you know the receipts to back himself up so I can see why he would say that and he's confident going in and I think he's got all the tools in his belt to be able to pull this out the bananas does too they might be a little bit more tarnished they might be a little more Rusty than Chris's but they're all there he's got all the tools they're just not as sharp as maybe they once were but they still work that's for sure still good enough to get him to the finals you know so still a pretty impressive Feit when there's other players that still yet not made final there's a lot of players who have not made finals before that look like they physically should be capable but Dena says that's because Chris isn't competing against Cassie it doesn't really matter to him that's why he didn't care about Cassidy going in Lana said I'd love to know more about Cassidy's social game
