1:21 Kind of feel like you know being back in uni not preparing for an exam and trying to like crunch everything into my brain like last minute when it comes to this latest Wheel of Time episode because there was a lot happening and I feel like for casual viewers like myself we saw one show and people who have read the books and know all of the intricacies of the bigger world you probably saw a completely different show to me yeah there's definitely a fair few nods to the book readers in this episode which is really exciting stole a few changes and a few sort of crossovers but it was definitely yeah it's very exciting for book readers around the world that were just like yes finally this sort of thing set that to take off and we see different areas and places which had not really been fleshed out in the series much and yeah it'll definitely take a bit of time hopefully they'll take the time to flesh out a bit more I think one of the biggest things for me as a non-book reader that's hard to get my head around now five episodes in first season this season there is a lot happening there's a lot of different factions that are coming into play I already forgot the name of the faction with the long nails like who they are I know that we go to like one of the was that their main village that they went to this episode like where the High Lord to wreck was that was that like yeah

8:05 Forcing her to do that because she has pledged allegiance to the dark side and this is how she proves her loyalty but the really symbolic thing for me was now that I've spoken to you on the channel I know how big it is that those males how much it presents to them the fact that got chopped huge and the fact that she's now no longer wearing the face covering as well those sorts of can you can you explain the face covering like what's the significance yeah there's it's it was all just part of the headdress the one that they've actually gone with I watched a little article a little video from the costume designers and they came up with that headrest themselves it's supposed to look the sanction armor and everything else is always described as to be quite insect-like so this was kind of like their insect type thing it's just it's just a you'd not see them like to face type thing if I remember rightly so now that she's got no header issues a bit more she's lower low down in the eyes of she's yeah she's lost a mobility of it lost her rank a little bit and the nails as well like the nails yeah well that's how they a lot of the times that's how they sort of communicated they have little symbol signs and single signals to talk to their voice with using

9:25 The nails right and now that they've not like no longer got those nails they don't have that ease of they don't have those that power I suppose but it was definitely you definitely feel the symbolism behind it couldn't you when she they cut it and you just see that sort of look it was yeah quite a quite a powerful wee scene actually and we also had the introduction of yeah is he big in the books is he a big significant character yes right so he does come into that it's interesting because obviously at this stage he's got all the power is xiaomial is trying to gain his favor as well by giving him a gift with Pat and fame walking in with a box the Horn of the lair which we can't they kind of allude to the fact that he likes gifts and obviously by the end of this episode he gets the biggest of all gifts and we'll talk about that a little bit later on because it was such a WTF moment for me when I saw it play out on this side that's a very big WTF moment but it's just kind of where we go on to it sewed if we're going to continue to stick to this whole theme of talking about characters and how they're developing this massive part of this episode that belonged to Rand and Moraine and specifically random Moraine and landfire with her running

10:45 Away from her and we spoke about how crazy it was that Moraine could sneak up on her slitter throat but clearly Moraine is still petrified at this stage because she's like that won't even stop her and she's going to come and there were so many things happening here to the point of again Marine's character is like one of the most interesting characters for me as a TV Watcher because we know that she's doing everything she's doing for the good and for the light but she's got ruthless methods of getting there like even sacrificing the poor horse Peddler in this episode oh and that was that like honestly we that yeah it was brilliant they the you're lost for words it was so nice to see that play out like Moraine is she's devoted to her life goal her life mission and as blues are and she needs to make sure that it all goes well and if there's if you're an extra you know you don't matter to the system you can play a part she's sacrificing pawns really she's playing chess and she's just utilizing the players and the and the that she's got and for them they're just pawns to move around to make sure that she's keeping

12:05 The king safe and if you're using the chess a knowledge analogy yeah and but even in the book she talks about and as Savage and says like even to Rand if I suspect you're going to the dark you know to the dark one I'll kill you too like she will she's just she doesn't pack any punches doesn't pull the punches and that was exactly what we saw on screen today where oh I watched it this morning like and just the way that landfair uses the power so if it effortlessly every Power scene we've seen so far of using the one power or every one of every time I've seen the ice that are using it there's been like this kind of build up that's like this in this to do it even down to the Alana showing the novices how to cut out the water like there's that sort of that build up yeah whereas landfair boom dude's head explodes like just it just disintegrates and it's just a flick of a finger like there's no there's no big emotion there's no it's just an instant booms nothing it's effortless if and that's it and that sort of helps give you that picture of holy how powerful are these people you know these forsaken because they're not needing to they just and it's it

13:26 Did you know yeah I was just like ebony like you say Maureen I will kill her I'll kill a horse I was going to ask on that and yeah I agree with you on landfill the even that with the horse Peddler where she was just like closing the mouth and she didn't even do a sign or anything she's like yeah you won't tell anyone brutal you know yeah and one of the things I wanted to ask you around Moraine is because I know moraine's storyline has sort of diverged away from the books in the sense that she doesn't have power and all that kind of stuff but for me as a non-book reader that don't have that I don't feel protective of that story yet I feel like I'm in a good spot where I'm going to read it later on and I'm going to appreciate that the book is the true Canon and this is a something that they're trying to create on TV in any case I feel like with Moraine just the character development around her not having power has been very powerful as a storyline this season and again specifically in this episode the fact that she still uses the ring as an assadai to get the horses and things like it just shows her like her wits outside of the power itself exactly so for to me it feels like it's adding to my own story not taking away from it but I don't know how it feels for you as a book reader I know different people will feel you're not speaking for all book readers but for yourself as someone

14:46 That is a book reader are you okay with Stories being changed as long as it adds to the character I yes to a point I thank her not having the power doesn't affect when she's coming up against likes of landfair because she's so low on the power Spectrum comparative to landfare it stops Moira ain't even trying to use the one power because she'd just get squashed like that quickly like nothing that she can do is of any nearer match to what landfair or any of the Forsaken are at because the levels are just different it's so much different so I think her having not have not having the one power means she's going to be a lot more creative and cunning as you're saying and strategic about what she's doing which I think if she still had her one power and she was still able to channel I think you'd have audience members not familiar with the book going why on Earth is she getting swept under the rug so easily why is she you know if she was trying to use the one power but for people that haven't read the book and they're just watching it going okay she needs to think outside the square now because she doesn't have the one power but she's still going up against forsaken do you know what I mean like I think it pays off in that respect I agree I would really like to have my rain regainer

18:47 And they talk about how they're still using swords and horses to get around like this just their technology had gone well be well beyond horses it was interesting it was very interesting that those conversations and I mean I was a little bit confused again and this is where I'm like as a non-book reader I'm always like what's going on like they kind of talk like they're going back in time opposed to moving forward in time you know which is what they're supposed to be because they've not been there for thousands of years so what's the technology more advanced back in the day is kind of what I'm getting at and somewhere down the line that lost the technology yeah what was bro the world got broken essentially that's pretty cool that's why they call it the breaking of the world because it was broken and Technology a lot of Technology start working they stopped having both sources of the one power freely used the woman were the only ones using it because of the men's one being tainted and just it's like it was it's a bit like if the world had like a massive giant EMP hit and all of our Tech that we've got now stopped working and we need to go back to not using machines essentially and we didn't have electricity and we didn't and then after so many years you forget all about it so we didn't know that there was electricity and it's then there's people from 3 000 years before come

20:07 Through and was like hey hold on a minute why are we why were we using horses and swords again we've got like way past all of that's kind of where they've come to now but it's like interesting so yeah that gets me really excited for what's to come in the future and where the story can go I want to transition over to unless there's anything else from that first Chase let me just have a quick so we've got the first trade scene no that's kind of where I got through with that and then we get there moving to Caravan so no for that first chase scene it was just the savageness of both boy rain and then landfill yeah I wanted to move I wanted to move on to that next scene which is going to focus a lot on Perrin and specifically him with still trying to delay us yeah so still trying to figure out like what his place in this world is Elias is trying to tell him the people that you've got on your on your side at the moment they're not your pack they're not your people you need to be focusing on your people the wolf people we stick to our own we do our own thing but parents still has that Human Side to him because you grew up with these guys and you know he's got a certain amount of loyalty that he feels towards the people that he was with when they were looking for the Horn of the layer and he wants to obviously go and help them and he realizes that Elias

21:27 Has actually taken him away from the city that they're captured or moved to so at that point he wants to go his own way which was interesting and him going away having Hopper following him I believe it was Hopper sort of showing him a vision off his friend not being buried was quite interesting and we spoke a little bit about how they keep doing their character dirty I'm my notes I'm like don't tell me he's alive in a cage I'm like no we can't have because he essentially died in the first season yeah into the first season I'm like surely they're not doing us again they're not bringing them back again after we've just watched the spike Ram through the guy's mouth but no thank you he's just dead in the cage which seems a waste of a cage really because he's not needing to break out at all that seemed like sort of an odd Choice it's strange that they're keeping him there in a cage next to what we find out is an ale woman avienda yeah avienda so and she kind of gives parent the heads up don't make a noise they're gonna they're gonna see you but she sort of sticks to her own in that scenario and this is the part where it gets really interesting because I feel like we're starting to get introduced to characters that are going to become really big down the line yeah Dane bornhold child born hold is cool character and very interesting white cloak and

22:48 The introduction of him was great can you refresh people's memories of the white regards to on the white clothes because we saw it briefly in the first season and then after that they kind of disappeared so I feel like a lot of people may not remember who they are yes good nice so the white cloaks are and then they are almost like a group of military militia type men that religion almost that believe that anything to do with the power is dark and they fight for the light and they fight for basically that they've got like extreme methods of doing this yeah more extreme than the average person right yes and then the first season we're introduced to valda and he's a questioner and they are like the yeah they're brutal in their questioning and they have that scene between him and Dane in this episode where he's trying to get to at the Ender to question her and he's actually protecting her someone in there yes scenario which was interesting to see because it shows that yes he's a part of the white folks but he's not as lost in the source as some of them yeah no but that Dane bornhold's not stupid either he like

24:08 The white cloaks generally don't like the questioners like they're the same but there's some level of white cloaks that don't like the means that the questioners go to how they get questions out of them and basically and there was a little trick there too because he's like you know you're not going to get anything out of this ale but then he says you know he makes a snide little comment about wolves no wolves here and he sort of talks about the advancements like I wrote down the band between the two of them is great Amon valda is just he had he was a standout in season one for me as an actor as a character he was just like oh we're all gonna love to hate him and which is what you need and the white cloaks are a bit like that you love to hate them but then can I bring you cornhole yeah because I want to I want to ask about Dane that in that conversation when Dane speaks to the questioner and he blocks him it looks like Dane maybe has some sort of seniority versus the questioner and that comes down to his father because they allude to his father and they say well one day your father's not going to be there to protect you so clearly and I don't want you to spoil it for us but clearly he's at a senior level clearly his dad

25:28 Maybe his dad is like the king of the white cloves or like the leader of the white clothes or something like that but clearly he comes from a bloodline of nobility within the white cloaks is what I'm sort of getting yeah it's a really good thought I'm not going to yeah you don't have to confirm or deny but it's no but it's but it's something that's very interesting it's something that I picked up on there and then also just the Human Side in him he's also someone that when he meets perin here he's trying to it's almost like he's very smart like he said he knew Perrin was trying to do something he shouldn't be doing here it was let's be fair he knew who parent was or he knew he's a wolf because when he knew he was from to the two rivers and yes they'll have all heard about Amon valder's recent run-in with two people from the two rivers one having a wolf you know the golden eyes the wolf link and so he will have been suspicious of Kieran he also shows a bit of Human Side by giving at the end of the water which is a huge thing for the ale water for the ale is very sacred they that's why she often refers to Perrin as a wetlander because they live they always as cold as from the is very dry it's a desert-like

30:49 In this specific episode and varen was a big part of that right she came to play this I mean I was I was sort of like very like listen like she's a she's a badass like coming in Back to the White Tower going to the library which we know the brown address from the library and she meets with two of her fellow sisters that are also from the brown agile I forgot their names you might have it in hand but they were in and the show but they weren't some great dialogue then those two not that I can remember they were not in the books did I write the notes down they were yeah honestly give me a detective show with those girls and running around the White Tower solving crime would be just hilarious I just got this one honestly I was just like I just want to go and sit down and read books and drink with them and have a bit of a bit of a laugh because I think they were just they're kind of your people though while being a master you know being a bit of an educator yourself someone that loves reading books and things like that I feel like yeah if you were a woman and if you could be an assadai you'd be a brown Archer do you know what and to be fair after this episode that's how I felt I was like yep we had that question last episode or like episode you know last video the one before is like you know who which

1:16:17 Here Min seems to be manipulated at this stage but ultimately will be a good person this is kind of how I see men Elaine good old innocent delayed could she have the capacity to turn dark I feel like you know be a good like I mean there's nothing for me to go off but that would throw me off too many people too many people at this stage so if I had to like bang on who I think the biggest potential for a Trader is right now is a Gwen that's who I'd go for I feel like she would turn back but I don't know if she is dark already or if she will embrace it down the line yeah so I don't know if that really answers the question but yeah I like this game we'll play it more in the future we'll start bringing more of this up there's another character that was referenced in this episode that we've not come across yet which was gone which was Elaine's brother and there was definitely a scene in book two that as a reader we and a big fan of Matt would have loved to have seen happen but now that Matt has left Tavel on I'm guessing it's not going to happen so that's really disappointing and I hope that they managed to bring a scene in later on of Matt we can't go into details for spoilers but there's definitely a net scene that
