00 Welcome back to the nullified take well i've got the tnt takes for you on australian survivor blood versus water episode 18. i'm not gonna lie to you guys sitting down and trying to come up with the top five talking points for this episode was a real tough struggle for me because i kind of felt like what was the point of this whole episode and i'm gonna be honest before i even get into these top five talking points i'm not a big fan of purgatory i'm not a big fan of any kind of edge of extinction redemption island it doesn't matter the format if they're coming back into the game normally i don't like it so because of that this was a tough episode for me to dissect but nonetheless let's get into the top five talking points here number one is that mark wins immunity which puts sam at risk obviously you know mark wins the immunity he already has a public idol in his position which everybody knows about around camp which means that people like josh and jordan and juicy dave they're really starting to wonder how are they gonna get past the obstacle that they've got in their way within sam and mark as a power duo with an idol and at this stage they're still speculating that potentially there's a second idol at play but they don't know this even having one idol in their position josh knows that this puts them at a power position

20 Within that alliance and it's quite interesting because josh clearly wants to work with this couple but he knows that if he doesn't flush one of the idols it's gonna come back to bite him and he's open to other options here in this episode which we have not seen up until this point again i really think that it points to the control that josh has had in this game the only time that people are even considering making a move or striking at the likes of sam and mark is when josh at this stage wants to do so they're waiting for his command to say now is the time to strike and in this episode with mark winning this immunity there is a lot of talk that happens that you know doesn't include sam and this is very purposefully done in a way where they're trying to get sam paranoid enough to play her idol which to be honest is a very difficult thing to do if you've worked very closely with this group josh does not want to have his hands dirty because he's scared that if this move gets pulled on sam and she realizes that he's the one who orchestrated it that it would be something where she could go and turn mark against josh and jordan and they actually do need this couple because they're the only other dos still in the game so for them to go against mark and sam at this point they kind of have cornered themselves in a way where the other singles could easily then turn against them and vote one of them out so they're kind of limited as to what they can do but they

40 Know that the right choice at this stage is to take that idol out point number two juicy dave was plan a until purgatory came into play with all the uncertainty that purgatory as a twist brings to the game and sam very much using this to her advantage at tribal council saying that there could be three people coming back we really need to keep the alliance strong contingency plan backwards so i've been saying three could come back like up to three so you've got to count how many people you think on this side currently are solid are tight to go into battle against those three people i think that saved dave so even though dave and sam are seen butting heads this episode and it looks like sam doesn't really want to work with him because he doesn't include in any conversation and dave clearly wants to make a move against mark and sam they do realize that the best move for them moving forward at this stage is to keep the tight six together because if they keep this tight six together that means that whoever the three people are that potentially could come back in the game they'll still be outnumbered by this very tight six alliance so ultimately the purgatory twist comes in the way here of potentially what could have been a great move and flushing an idol that all of these people had and plan set in place they

01 Talked about it the whole episode of either flushing an idol or even blindsiding sam in this specific spot number three michelle is the sacrificial lamb that is voted out here because of the fact that they're not going to go after juicy dave and to be honest with you she it's kind of seemed to me like she was in a losing case for a very long time here she seemed to be a part of that initial alliance of sam and jessie's and potentially khan so when she lost jessie she lost khan sam went over to the boys she kind of ended up on her own and i feel bad for michelle in that way we didn't see much of her game prior to the merch so it's very hard to know where her allegiances truly were but it just seemed like she lost her numbers here and i think that because of the way that it worked with the couples in a normal season michelle would have probably done better with that alliance that she built in the pre-merge but because someone as important to sam as mark sort of came into play after the merge and took her away and took her to a different alliance she lost who she thought would be very solid numbers at the merge so michelle ends up going here in this spot and she also doesn't find a way to fight back at purgatory but she does leave in good spirits telling all of them how much she will be eating when she gets to

21 Jury villa which i think does torture a lot of these people that have been out there for as many days as they have without food so at least she got a little bit of a smile remark in there got a little bit of revenge and got out of the game now point number four i feel like the last 20 minutes of the episode like i said in the beginning was the only thing that really counted you could have pretty much fast forwarded to that point because whoever was voted out prior to that for the last three episodes or four episodes did not really matter it's three episodes because we had two in one episode it didn't really matter because these people were all in purgatory it did seem like absolute hell geordi explaining that they were on a dry riverbed in the middle of nowhere and they didn't have an ability to even wash themselves for the amount of time that they were there i can't imagine the body odor being out there for that long and not being able to wash yourself i personally love having a shower in the morning a shower at nighttime if i go for a run in the middle of the day or something i'll have another shower as well so i like being clean so that would be absolute torture for me living out in those conditions but the one thing that they do get here is an opportunity to come back in the game and that is going to happen via a trial that they have to compete in and they have to navigate a ball on a pole balance it through to a last gutter obstacle where they've got it lifted with sticks and then drop

41 The ball into three buckets and jordy finishes first jlp couldn't say that fast enough even though geordi's paul bounced inside of the bucket and out he immediately called in and said jordy you're finished and you're completed the task and so forth and after that kj and shay also finished this task so before they went back to do this trial they talked about forming a misfits alliance of these people that have been voted out and to pretend like they will go back and work with the alliance that is in the game but they know that their best move forward would be to try and break up this alliance and a bit of strategic talk happens before this where michelle says that your best bet is probably to talk to juicy dave he wanted to make a move against sam and mark already or against that alliance so he's the person that they'll have to go and work on now the only thing that we can hope for here is that juicy dave has got enough self-awareness to know his position in the game and i'm very fearful that he does not know that even up until this stage i think that in his mind he is more important to josh and jordan than what he really is and i feel like he might not make that move i hope i'm wrong i really want jordy and shay and kj to find a way to come back and you know i'm totally against purgatory i'm totally against people getting back

01 In the game and fighting their way to the end to win that way i know the conversation always comes up with hayley and she is very well respected she's a great player in the game winning your way back into the game and going to the end like that as a purist for me is still very hard to digest and that's just the way i feel about it you don't have to agree with it's my opinion i know it's not probably the popular opinion out there but i feel like in a season like this where they're giving three people the opportunity to go back into the game now let's just lean into it let's hope geordi kj and shay get all the way to the final and they take this thing home i don't think it's gonna happen but having geordie back in this game as a very minimum is gonna cause chaos and he's gonna go for heads which is exactly what i want to see it's jordy's band of misfits it's gonna be interesting it's gonna be fun versus the ruling elite we won't get the win unless we take them out if you don't make a move with me now it's going to be too late i want to see a little bit of resistance for the likes of josh jordan sam and mark and it's nothing against them personally it's just it's been boring up until this point to see this alliance steamroll through the game so lastly as number five sam hands the idol to mark for safekeeping

21 They talk about it after the vote and sam says that at some point they might look at my bag i don't feel safe with the idol being there and mark says let's transfer it over to my back which she does in the middle of camp now i'm a bit worried here for sam because i can very easily see sam and mark being blindsided in the next vote or two and sam getting voted out without that idol and two of those idols ending up in mark's bag or even worse mark gets voted out with two idols and sam's got nothing left in the game sam worked really hard to get that idol and for her to give that idol away to mark at this point i feel like it's a bit of a risk even more so than that the one thing that stood out to me is why is nobody looking at people's bags like if i was out there better hide your bags for me because i if i think you've got an idol i will search it and i don't think i'm the only one i think a lot of players in the past have searched for other players backs to try and see if they've got idols in them so i don't know why that hasn't happened up until this point overall i still feel like mark is the player to watch out for he is getting a low-key under the radar edit at this stage and sam is the narrator for most of the season and she gets most of the strategy talk but for some other reason it just seems too obvious for me at this stage those are my five takeaways for this episode let me know what you guys think

41 What do you agree with what don't you agree with are you happy that purgatory is here and we get three players to come back in the game and how do you feel about players coming back in the game is my opinion a very unpopular opinion these days i remember a time where we really used to be against this but i feel like people have moved on from that and with new school survivor a lot of fans are now more accepting of the fact that players will come back and win their way through until the end let me know what you think drop a like on this video please hit subscribe we're heading to 500 subscribers as soon as we get there as mentioned i will make an australian survivor buff from last season available for one of the listeners and viewers that actively participate on these videos and leaves comments so i really look forward to hearing your opinions and takes because that makes it feel a little bit more like a community and i can respond to those as well as always guys thank you so much keep an eye out for our podcast this week fingers crossed i should have tara from sam and mark's original season on this week for a recap talk to you later bye
