20 Below enough with the promotional things let's get into the top five talking points for this episode now talking point number one is that mark has to deal with the aftermath of having lost sam in the game and we were very nervous about how mark was going to react to this myself and tara who was the guest last week on the podcast we spoke about the fact that in mark's original season sam also went first but mark kind of laid down and died a little bit after he lost her and didn't play the game as aggressively but this is a more mature market someone that's had time away from the game they had a mission coming back on what they wanted to achieve and they kind of prepared each other for quite a long time that this could be a case where either mark or sam could go first and then whoever was left in the game they would have to finish the mission and that's why they left both idols for one of the two players to play so that way they don't have to guess where votes are gonna go and split where they play the idols one person will have the benefit of always being able to play it for themselves and like mark says here you know there's three rounds left there's two idols he basically just needs to win an immunity and play those idols correctly and before he knows it he can make his way into the final three i thought that this episode was interesting

41 Because it definitely showed that mark still had some scars from that previous season and remembering how he felt when he lost sam that season and now he's built a life with this person he's got a son with her and it definitely hits him differently i think this season because he felt like he could have saved her he had that power in his hands he could have played the idol and he now has to make the most of it because their biggest fear coming back to the season was that they were let themselves down and everybody at home and that they wouldn't do as well as they wanted to do on this season but he is in a really good spot to actually go on and win and one of the things that for me really impressed me about mark was his ability to still go back and talk to someone like josh throughout this and be open to strategize with him and he does not shut his option down from his side we also find out a little bit here a little bit more about mark's strategy from the early days in the season where i think i've been saying for quite a long time that josh has come across as someone that probably has played a lot bigger game than what the show has shown us clearly they're starting to give josh more of an edit now as we're getting closer to the end game and there's less players left in the game that they can show but marcos lets us know that he

01 Actually on purpose have sat back and have allowed for joss to be that leader in the tribe to be the person that is more vocal and out there where he kind of tried to hide behind josh for most of this game and that was a definite strategy that he had he kind of told sam a little bit about this as well when they met up where he said i need these strong guys with me so that they're ahead of me but i think mark being a returning player being the physical beast that he is was always going to be a target as well so i don't know how effective that was but it has gotten him into the position that he is and currently which is heading towards the end game so there must have been some really good there must have been a great method to the madness if that makes sense number two shea makes a deal with the girls prior to the reward challenge and she says that if she wins she will take them with her on the reward she then goes out on the challenge and both jordy and josh makes a deal with her saying that if they were all to drop at the same time let's make sure that we take each other to this reward and shay does change her mind while being out there because she wasn't sure if she would win against geordie who said that he had plenty left in the tank but jordy is quite smart here because he realizes that if he wins this he possibly puts an even bigger target

21 On himself so why not drop out and then get shade to take the fall for this and i think that with shade doing this she has potentially cost herself a spot in the game i mean we'll talk about kj a little bit later on but kj is really upset about this saying that this is basically proven that she can't work with the purgatory three moving forward in the game so was the reward really worth it for shay to win in the first place and was it worth it to go back on that promise that she made to the girls here in this episode i feel like it's probably the hardest thing to do when you're out there and you're deprived of food to withhold yourself from actually winning a reward challenge but i've always felt like reward challenges can be extremely overrated in survivor especially when you have to burn some people out there like she had to do in this specific spot now at the reward this does give them the opportunity though to talk to josh and josh is someone that now finds himself in a very interesting position here this episode because he's just gone back on his word to mark or he's betrayed mark's trust somewhat so he kind of wants to make sure that he's got other allies in the game that are not necessarily going to come for him next and the three of them sitting there on this reward realized that they're all

41 Three very big threats in this game and they've won immunities and challenges and that people could come after them next so they promise each other not to completely go after each other within the next couple of votes and this is going to have a massive effect on the ultimate outcome of this episode and who is going to go home i think that geordi probably did the most work here to get josh across and it saves geordie in this specific spot from going home earlier and he outplays juicy dave before juicy dave can play him out of the game at the specific spot overall i felt like this was geordi's reward and not shay's reward so therefore i think that shea made a really big mistake going back on her word and winning the specific challenge so take away number three just prove once again that he is a threat when it comes to immunities and winning his second immunity for this season and once again it is a immunity challenge that has a couple of different aspects to it where you have to go through an obstacle course you have to get to the end and do a puzzle so he once again proves that he's not only good in the physical stuff but mentally joss is really strong so one of the things that are standing out for me so far in this season is that there has been no real clear runaway person when it comes to challenges you've had geordie win two amenities you've had josh went

01 To shae's won a couple and also marcus won two immunities which really makes this a balanced season overall and those guys are definitely the biggest threats to go into the end game as well when it comes to immunity wins josh also goes back to camp here after the reward challenge to work very closely with chrissy to convince her to move her target away from jordy who she says aren't you tired of him which again shows that i don't think jordy's social game is that great when it comes to will people actually vote from the end because i feel like people don't respect his game or they feel like him being a joker they can't take him seriously there's something there that i feel like in the edit we are missing because we are meant to like jordy as the underdog person fighting to get to the end but she says don't aren't you tired of him don't you want to get rid of him in this specific move george josh does what's best for him and he actually makes the move to keep geordi because he knows that jordi and shay has promised to keep him for another round therefore actively he is moving himself forward in this game and he is shifting the target from geordi to juicy dave juicy dave does not have any allegiance to joss so it makes sense that he would do this in this space so once again i'm extremely impressed by josh's strategic play and how he is maneuvering in this game i think he's a threat and i think he's played an a-type game

21 I don't know if he's going to make the final because i feel like if he made the final he's playing the kind of game that will get him the win at the end and at this stage i feel like because he was so invisible prior to the merge he probably isn't our winner because we would have seen more of what he did prior to the merge we only got to see like one or two episodes prior to the merch where he explained that game and i feel like we haven't seen him articulate it a lot and then in the confessionals that he's currently giving he's articulating his strategy really well in regards to wanting to stay with mark in regards to playing that middle game and then being safe for a couple more votes and also specifically here he once again wants mark to play his idol so that he can still work with mark but he takes some of that power away from mark within that alliance that he currently has as an idol the only thing that you can criticize josh on at this stage is that he does not believe geordie that mark has got two idols and that is something that he still seems to believe mark on but then again there's other players that have made way bigger mistakes and we as viewers obviously get to see the whole table and we're not inside of the first bowl so it's very hard to judge him on that one alone i feel like outside of that he has played a pretty flawless game number four kj turns her back on the purgatory three and this to me is an interesting one because i'm struggling to understand

42 Why she went in this direction she ultimately becomes the only person here in this tribal council to put her vote on geordie after the tied vote and she kind of isolates herself from a lot of people in the game now with the purgatory three she had something in common with those players where they went through a struggle together and i felt like that should have kept her tighter with shay and with jordy and that i don't want to say it but i feel like it was a bit of an emotional decision and obviously kj if you're listening to this i don't get all of the behind the scenes i can only see what i've seen on the tv show and i'm more than happy to talk to you about this at the end of the season but i feel like if you do lose the game here this could be one of those places where things might have gone wrong for you because i do think geordie and shea from what we've seen wanted to stay tight with that purgatory three but kj started losing trust in them after she wasn't taken on this reward challenge and i don't think that going on a reward challenge as the purgatory three would have made any sense at the end of the day you needed one of the three to stay at the camp to hear what the things are the people are talking about where the votes are gonna go you needed someone to stay a part of those conversations and having those three out of the camp would have just made them very easy targets this round so if i was a part of that alliance

02 I would have and again like i said i'm saying this here with a full belly not being on the island i would have understood that i can't be an all of those conversations and be on the reward at the same time as well and you need to split your resources when you're out there and delegate where you have a couple of people from your alliance but also from another alliance together on a reward so that you have people at camp that can listen to any counter plans that might be going on and if there are people that are going to target you within the game so i feel like her judging shea on that move i understand that the deal was made beforehand but going against the purgatory three it feels like it's a move too early davis turned his back on her mark has turned his back on her chrissy and joshua's turn their backs on her i feel like going in this direction is gonna yield the same result that she had when she was voted out in the game previously so a little bit disappointed after she pulled such a great move a couple of episodes ago but again like i said i can only judge from what i see in the edit number five tribal council leads to juicy dave's demise and juicy dave goes out with a bang i have been impressed by him he says at the end of the game here that you know he did not come into survivor and he says at the end here that he didn't come to survivor as something that he really desperately wanted to

22 Do this was never his dream this was something where brianna wanted to do it and when she left quite early he wanted to do it for her he wanted to go all the way to the end and win it so he could make her proud about the fact that they went and that the show and you could see he's quite emotional about it at the end firstly i would want to say juicy dave i salute you as the last blood try player in this game you did an exceptional job for someone that isn't a big fan of the show i don't know if you watched many survivor seasons prior to going on but i thought you learned the game so well you were under threat very early on sandra had an eye on you and i mean if sandra is coming for you for you to be able to survive that and get as deep as you did in the game i take my hat off to you and i think you found your rhythm within this game and you had exceptionally good reads i mean you're the person here in this specific spot that actually notices that geordi is the one playing the better game in the sense that he is the one that made shea take the fall here and you read through his play which shows me you've got good reads you knew that you needed to split up both sam and mark as a power couple and even though mark comes for you after that i do feel like that was the right move and you open the game somewhat up no one else is willing to take that shot so overall i've been impressed your edit has had you going missing at times but i feel

42 Like you definitely played a good game now were you a bigger threat than jordy in the game i think that based on what the editor has shown us you probably weren't and it's interesting to see that geordi was able to outplay you here by making this alliance with josh to keep them together and safe in this game and by you going home in this round i feel like this more so benefits probably josh's game than it does mark's game so i'm very interested that mark also went in this direction no player is perfect obviously at the end of the day even those that wouldn't have to have some things go their way and if mark does get there in the end and does win this game then this would have been one of those things where i'm very interested to find out why juicy dave was the bigger target compared to like a geordie because geordi has got alliance members in the game and he can work with them and he's shown that he can rally people to give away i feel like juicy dafe like mark said is in the middle and he's kind of like a swing boat but you can kind of persuade a swing boat to come your way easier than someone that is part of something a bit more tight and also someone that can actually win immunities and take your opportunity for safety away from you and also think that geordi's type of game the underdog game coming back from purgatory breaking up that

02 Power alliance making it somehow to the end is a game that is going to get respected when he gets there because people would say look at how he fought his way back you know kind of like haley did in the previous season and he would get a lot of respect at the end game for that so i was very surprised to see juicy go here i think juicy is someone that has proven that if he was to be given another shot at the game of survivor he could be a definitely good player and probably one of the players i wouldn't mind seeing play this game again that's my top five talking points for this episode as always thank you for listening and catch you next time bye
