0:01 Welcome back to the nullified tech we've got the tnt takes for you on australian survivor blood versus water episodes 19 and 20. i'm joined by a great special guest here on the podcast someone who made it all the way through his season and was the runner-up for australian survivor 2017. tara welcome to the podcast how are you doing today thank you thank you yes very well i just got out of the shower so i do apologize i appreciate your dedication you know we tried to get this locked in last season and sadly couldn't make it happen and i know you worked a bit later today and you still rush back home to do this so i'm very appreciative i know the fans will be appreciative as well to have you on the podcast and especially since these two members from your previous season that is actually on the season what does it feel like watching the show now that you know both of these people in real life that sam would have been scary to like play with and i'm glad they got her out early semi has surprised me you know when the show finished i didn't get a chance to meet sam or mark because they had left before i moved over to a sangha and watching them both i know back then they weren't together but they already had a connection and watching

1:21 Them now like i am scared i sent her a message last night told her how much i loved her and i'm just super proud of both them because you know even though season two was so long ago in 2017 we're still our family and yeah you know people like luke's been in different seasons and stuff but we always go back to season two season two you know the contestants are all still we all still talk we're all very close so when we got a little bit of wind that maybe sam and mark might be going on we were all pretty well very well pretty excited so do you guys shout for them now because they kind of are representatives of your season so you're all like standing behind them saying i hope one of these two to win the show when they go on to it well i talk jerry and i jericho and i talk once a week and we do our recaps quite regularly and we both said i think it's for us for me and jerry to watch them we didn't get to see where jerry got to see them play a little bit but to actually see these two play and not only play but bloody well rock because yes they're married and they met on survivor but they're playing the game to a t and you know i remember sandra said like when on one of her exit interviews

2:41 That there those two were the ones to watch that was way back so yeah i was pretty proud to watch them regardless if they got first boot i just hope that they got to the stage where they were at the merge because i think yeah i'm probably jumping the queue i keep jumping but if it's the whole season this season has been full on i've had favorites i've had no favorites i've had people i probably won't dm in my instagram because i don't think they're very nice people but i'm very opinionated and i'm still so country that you know i am who i am so i still say what i feel and some people don't like that hey that's fair enough and i mean at the end of the day on this podcast i don't mind jumping back and forward a little bit we don't have an exact breakdown exactly of what happened at every little moment within the season or within the episodes i like to just talk freely about sort of different things that happen throughout the season so it'd be quite interesting one of the other things i wanted to know was would you have wanted to participate in a season such as blood versus water since you've played the game before and you now know what this season is about you've got a loved one out there do you think that is an advantage or a disadvantage

4:02 Playing in a season such as this i was trying to think when it all got announced that it was blood versus water who i would actually take because when i was playing survivor in 2017 i was married and we're not married anymore so i'm trying to think the only one i really talk to in my family is my mum and she won't quit smoking for nothing so i don't think i would have had a chance to go in with blood versus water my oldest son's 15 so he's too young and i was actually trying to think i play the game back in 2017 very like as an individual so i don't know if i could cope sharing or trying to remember to think about the other like someone else on the other tribe because when you're out there you're so in your own tunnel that i think if i was to play my own game and then go oh but will this change my loved ones game i don't think i could cope like i think there would be too much going on for me to try and work out to play with someone else as well yeah it's interesting you mentioned that because i kind of wondered for myself like sammy clearly has great instincts for this game she's a very proactive player that plays an aggressive game some people love it some people hate it we'll talk about all of that in a bit and

5:22 I'll give us both an opportunity to address that but looking at sammy as a player in the season i feel like she was to a certain degree negatively affected after the merge by the fact that she was playing with mark because obviously in her mind they are playing this game as one whoever wins the game it's both of them winning but sammy seemed to have been in the driver's seat with jesse and the alliance that she had prior to the merge and then they went into the merch and jordi wanted to go for mark and obviously she had to change gears but it felt like she made a lot of those moves to get rid of close alliance members due to the fact that mark wasn't close to them would you agree that this potentially could have affected sammy's own game and potentially getting to the end because like you mentioned she wasn't allowed to have this tunnel vision she had to also take someone else's game into consideration yeah and i think i know just from editing that you know you don't the cameras are on us 24 7.

6:23 We don't get to see everything i do know that sam was trying to get him with that male alliance that was portrayed as like the boys talking over sam and trying to make her you know and the media has now talked about it saying mark's this terrible controlling husband and all this but you know she probably went in thinking like you said one of us will hopefully win so either as long as we make it to merge and then maybe make it to final four you know we've got a better shot but you're probably right i do think sammy coming in to merge and mark still being there probably affected her a very strong alliance that she had going into merge yeah and i agree with you it's there's been some interesting takes i don't think even just in the media there's certain elements of the internet it's always a small portion but they're the loudest portion sadly out there that have had some negative things to say about both mark and sam but it seemed like in recent times a lot of that negativity was more so pointed at sam opposed to mark because of the move that she pulled in stealing or taking the idol which i thought was a great move what was your take on sam's big move and do you think this is a move that's going to be up there as one of the best ever to be pulled off on australian

7:43 Survivor i don't watch a lot of sport i'm very much a reality tv girl so i don't watch sport but that episode i was on the edge of my seat screaming at the tv like i'm watching the football game because i'm just like don't play don't play it and then like an ad would come on and i'm like no play it play it oh my gosh poor jesse like i just went through this roller coaster of emotions as a player when you're there you just say you've got to stay you've got to stay in that's your you know you don't think about i wonder what people will think about me in the outside world the thing i'm more upset is the fact that sam has been getting such negative feedback that it's almost to the stage where i'm really disgusted in the so-called survivor fans i mean they're now telling her that she's a bad mother and that just makes me so angry like you don't bring the children involved you don't bring family involved her and mark are married yes but it's a game yes if she got to the final two and mark wasn't there that would have got her through that alone on her resume had blindsided and the fact that she even went home with it now like now that she's gone home it just yeah it just makes it even more

9:03 Better i can't i just have to say that i just love the move there's and it is even on our whatsapp with the season two contestants there's some that are like oh she should have done that and there's some that are it is so split it's probably split the whole tribe like even though we're not playing some of us were thinking waste of an idol or was it a good move yeah it was in her bag and at the end of the day if it's in a bag and she doesn't want to play it you know i'm a day one survivor fan u.s survivor fan so i've watched over 70 seasons i'm a super fan when it comes to survivor that's why i podcast about it you know like i've watched all survivors of africa survivor us australian survivor and i think of all of the seasons it's up there it's probably as big as the grandma lie that johnny fairplay told back in survivor u.s way back and this is something that's going to be legendary it's going to be remembered for a long time but the thing that really irks me is that people can't differentiate between game and real life and that whatever is happening out there this the aim of the game is to lie steal and cheat your way to the end i guess there is an element of how you send people home because they have to vote for you at the end to win the money and if you do them dirty some people really struggle

10:23 With that one of the things that for me really stood out is that either on my podcast michelle is one of my podcast co-hosts she sadly can't be here tonight but she runs the australian survivor fan page which has got nearly 30 000 people on there and i'm on it so you're on it so you know michelle is probably so you know we had a chat about this last week and i asked her because i'm not australian i was born in south africa but i've lived in new zealand for 15 years so i'm a little bit of everything in one but i thought of a thing of one thing and i thought is this maybe a cultural thing where australians really believe in hard work playing fair don't play dirty or that type of thing because in south africa it wouldn't be frowned upon and i don't feel like in the us this move would have been frowned upon as much by the casual audience because this to me seems to be the casual audience that are really disgusted by the move more so than the super fans who actually get that it's a game yeah and look there was times where i actually told my mum to get off facebook because people were getting into me about my voice you know i had one comment about how can i leave my children they're with their dad like it's not like i just left him on the street you know it's it does get in your head but at the end of the day the play that she did and how it all just unfolded i mean

11:44 I follow jonathan lapaglio on instagram and i think he does have a bit of a fangirl moment with him because every time she posts something he's always commenting and i just think for him to be in that tribal council when all that went down he would have been frothing because whenever something like this happened and even on the camera like he said like oh there's a bit of whispering he would just interrupt people if you're talking and be like sorry is it is there something going on like you could and then we're all like what's going on like he gets he gets right into it so and because he's a fan so you do you see the fans and then you see the people that watch it you know because it's nothing else on tv and then they're like how dare they what sort of show is this it's like go back to season one in america watch richard go back you know go back to standard seasons and boston bobs and just see how it is but saying that to one of sandra's exit interviews she did say that australian survivors sorry australian survivor the game aussies tend to just want to do big moves we just want big moves and blind sides and you know when i talked to sam and mark a few weeks ago they said that sandra even said it wednesday to just chill

13:05 Like what do like you know ever you come back from tribal sorry you come back from a challenge you're about to go to tribal and you just go it's like just we already know what's happening so she i think she thought for an aussie like we must just have this whole thing just to make something happen and make it big and get a big resume when at the end you know as long as you play the game to the best of your ability i mean there's sometimes i think back i shouldn't have done that or you know but you can't you can't go back you know yes well some people can you never know you might get that you might get that call again someday tara who knows is your bags packed if that call comes in probably but i have this thing and it's probably really crazy but me lee sean our torches are still flaming so we haven't our torches have never been snuffed so lee was runner up so his is obviously and then he got the medic out for all-stars so he's technically still snuff he actually didn't get voted out sean has been running her up a couple of times poor things so i just feel like when people

14:25 Like talk to me and stuff they it's just tara runner-up from australian survivor i would hate to go in and then get first boot or something where it would ruin that whole experience from 2017 because i still see it as apart from having three beautiful children as one of my highlights of my life on just getting a getting on the show and be getting runner up so it would have to be like maybe australia versus something like it'd have to be pretty big i felt it's funny you mentioned this and i know it's slightly off topic but it's relevant because i know you mentioned you and jericho still talk quite a bit and jericho is one of my favorite winners i shouted for him so much that season sorry tara i was very happy i was very happy when he won and jericho going back to all stars he was a sitting duck and i never understood i know he's a big fan and he did it because he was a big fan but i felt like going back in that situation just wasn't the right situation and i'm sure that the producers don't tell you much either when you go back to the show in regards to what the theme of the season's gonna be and who's potentially coming back so you kind of have to roll the dice when you do go back but never say never because this show could still be on for another 10 or 15 seasons there may be many runner-ups

15:45 In the future you might get a runner-up versus winner season in the future would that be yeah well i'll be getting jericho out straight away so i've already told him if we ever get on that island don't come up with your little filipino smile i'll be getting you out that's for sure he's gonna seduce you with the cookies you know he's just gonna give you some cookies he seduces me weekly he's in love with him he's got to stop god i'm single he's trying to he's trying to hit this and he can't okay so talking about you mentioned there's a few people you like there's a few people you don't like now in your season there was a bit of a legendary rivalry between yourself and ak this season we see a rivalry between jordy and sam what have you thought of the geordie and sam rivalry the joker persona going up against the thief or ice queen like channel 10 has dubbed it sometimes do you like seeing these types of rivalries on the show is there something that gets you tuning in oh absolutely and i mean it's probably the same feeling that aka and i felt i remember the ak versus tara the ad came on for the first time and ak rainey goes holy crap and i'm like i know how cool is that but looking back now i really didn't have much of a rival but i think a robbery i think it was just because

17:06 He tried to get the chicken idol and i was very openly telling the tribe that he's a wink pretty much because that's just who i am and so the producers were like tara hates him let's go with that you know and this could have been the same with jordy and sam but he i mean obviously he's a bit pissed because you know his brother got out from sam so you just yeah you sort of i think as players we know the truth but you do love watching that whole even when it was the big night like they had it when sandra was on you know which big name will go home and it was brianna and it's like she's not a real big name but they just bring in that atmosphere and you think straight away you think is it sandra is it mark who's going home you know and then but yeah the media does everything that's what most of the reality tv shows are all about yeah 100 now geordi and a few people here they benefited from a twist i know you benefited from a little bit of a twist as well where you got voted out of your tribe but then went on to go to the opposing tribe how do you feel about purgatory and these players going to purgatory fighting their way back and then getting a second chance in the game is this something that you enjoy i know it's a part of the australian survivor experience how do you feel like about this i know

18:26 Last year we had hailey for instance she was someone who went to redemption rock and came back and then ended up winning the whole thing yeah i probably would have died if i had to compete to get back in it because i must admit i was sitting there with annalise on the island going if i've just been voted out of my tribe and we have to do something stupid to try and get back in i'm probably just gonna just chill you know and then that morning they're like you're moving to a sangha i was like here we go yeah it's mixed emotions because you almost think your tribe really voted you out like your time is done but you don't know there's always twists and yeah for this instant geordi's now still going and he could have been out long and you know he should have been out but i don't know i do love a good twist because it saves me and i support the people that it saves i fully i fully appreciate it i think for me as a as a salty old school survivor fan i'm always like if you're tortured after snapped you're out of the game but i understand that with australian survivor that comes with the territory and the way that the format is and at least players don't go into these seasons completely blind to the fact that these twists do happen because if you are blind to the fact that this happens then you clearly haven't watched any of the previous seasons and you don't deserve to be out there in my opinion you know

19:46 You should do your homework and i feel the twists like going to redemption island or going and yeah you've got to draw a rock or just doing those ones i find to be a lot easier to watch and support than just another idol was found i get so frustrated there just seems to be idols popping out of the tree there's a metal bar where you can pick up an idol like sometimes i'm thinking enough's enough like yeah i don't know i didn't we didn't have that many idols my favorite one up until now is the one where daisy wins a reward and she gets this box at merge with a bunch of everything that everybody else has won at the auction and in the box there's an idol for her to pick up like she doesn't even have to search it like it's just given to her at merch and i was like what is happening here the skill is completely out of trying to find idols and they have made it in my opinion a little bit too easy to find idols these days we had summer tower won the barbecue reward and no one was even like being secretive about it we were lifting up plates we were eating and then we're going like we were all at the one table but we all thought but not there was no clue there was no items and now they go

21:06 To these like the lolly shops and there's you know there's two idols that khan and juicy dave got to chew and you think another idol like yeah let's earn a bit of this idol like i just and it was a super idol by the way i do feel it was gonna say it was a super idol so if they got to a point where they could use it together it could be used after the vote which is insanely powerful for an idol yeah to be used in such a manner but also you know since you were mentioning about all of you searching for the clue in between the items and things like that what did you think of the advantage here that kj got in this episode where it was hidden in plain sight and nobody else picked up that she received it and also the way that kj used this advantage as a whole because for me i've always said if you get an idol and if you get an advantage you keep that a secret you don't share that with anyone unless you have to your back is against the wall and you've got to swing for the fences otherwise you just stay quiet and i was quite impressed by kj's player overall here what did you think of this oh so she actually has been one that i have liked only because i guess that whole mum and but i didn't like her sister sophie i didn't like her sister but i really have liked how once

22:26 Merch and even when i mean even she said when sophie went into her tribe how it's gonna affect her and i was sitting at the tv thinking get rid of your sister like she's gotta go and if you look you know you could say her game's been a little bit quiet and sort of sitting back but once she got that advantage and the right the way that she used it spot on because you could have waited i guess you know it's the whole do we do it at the right time yes it was exactly where it was supposed to be at that particular time she played it very well and i think that will get her resume up as well yeah i think for me some people will probably say that sam being voted out on the second tribal council is the highlight of the season for me the highlight of the season was that move by kj because i felt like even the selection she made in removing mark because she knew that mark and sam would be tied removing josh because he wasn't an option to get voted against so therefore get rid of another duo and then removing chrissy out of that because chrissy would probably stay strong with the others i felt was brilliantly done because at the end of the day it really put the pressure on juicy dave and she then also said to him listen juicy you're at the bottom of your alliance i believe this move just saved you i felt like she just heard it out of the park 10 out of 10 and for me

23:47 One of the big frustrations with australian survivors i feel like in your day there was a lot more of a balanced edit across for everybody we could see a little bit of everybody but this season i feel like the focus has been on three four maybe five players at most the whole season and kg has been severely under-edited because for her to pull up a move like this i've been very impressed by that yeah and i just feel that you know when you have a an opportunity like an advantage you have to really think about it and she must have thought all different scenarios and the way she did it at the end was the best scenario she probably thought of all different ones but you just have to just go with your gut and i think that's what she really did she just thought i'm not listening to anyone i'm not going to tell anyone about it i'm just going to do this and just yeah hopefully go the right way and it did and listen even on the ropes mark and sam come up with a plan here to pretend like he's giving her something they don't have the idols with them at tribal council but sam still pulls it off and bluffs her way out of this vote she had no right to do so but hats off to her once again for a great performance yeah and ultimately this is going to send jordan home so really impressed by these two that even when they're on the you know on the tightrope like they were here they still find

25:07 A way out which comes back to what you said they're extremely dangerous does this just elevate zen hen so much for notif like recognizing that in that season and getting rid of them early because clearly he was onto something look i mean we i like i didn't get a chance to even speak to them because i think the two challenges and then they were both one was gone and then mark went but from when i got to a sangha when i was changed over from summertown yeah they all said oh sam and mark they were and i'm like but that have they ever met and they're like no they just met like four days ago i'm like what the heck but obviously their connection from day one when they first met with something strong that only that only people could see that were that close because i didn't see it i don't i don't remember thinking about it until even i rewatch it knowing about what a sanger had already told me how powerful the you know the powerful two couple and the you just think there's not been a couple they've never met ever well here's the funny thing apparently survivor as a whole throughout the world even over in the u.s there's been so many babies and families and things that have been created from survivor so you know newly single tara now is an additional incentive for you go to go back out on the island potentially to

26:27 Go meet someone out there again who knows you might find love out there as well tara i don't think so because everyone smell and it was disgusting and i don't think even as much as i was permanent on lockheed and i loved luke and i love jerry we all stunk i don't understand how these people can just all snuggle and think this is hot because to me i'm like it was pretty bad but yeah no i don't know i guess when you see santa mark as a couple like i have which is outside and we've shared you know baby harry coming in and we shared them out you know them getting married and but they're now seeing them as a this couple on survivor it is it is just powerful and yeah well i'm pretty proud i'm proud for season two because i think it just shows that you know this what could have happened i might not have players the caliber of players that you guys had to beat to get to the end that season as well but i do think that mark and sam also we've spoken about this on the podcast before they have a really good balance in the game i don't know them in real life and how they're like in real life but obviously sam is the more proactive person she's a little bit more paranoid which is good and survivor to have a certain dose of paranoia because you never know when someone's coming for you and then mark seems to be the person that just has this

27:47 Real calmness and almost you know he doesn't almost move and doesn't get shocked by anything i think mark is gonna react a lot more positively to he's gonna be angry at sam being gone but i think that out of the two of them i feel like he's almost the better one to remain in the game because he's got a little bit more for calmness about him he won't necessarily go and you know pour out all the food at home burn somebody's socks and go completely rogue not that i'm saying sam would have done that but you get what i'm saying he seems to be a little bit more calm in general and i feel like they balance each other really well yeah although in season two when sam went home first mark was apparently going to be safe and everyone was happy with mark but then he did he went like a little sour puss and just sat there he tried to not do as well in the challenge you know being the biggest fella there you would help you would think that he'd help more so they don't go to tribal he just thought well i'm just going to give up you guys voted out sam i don't give a crap anymore and then they voted him out so sam coming in has been paranoid in season two and mark having that attitude when sam got voted out in season two will have a slight impact on this game they mark will be thinking that on the back of his head for season two i'm not going to look like a sourpuss i'm not going to carry on i'm going to just wake up the next

29:07 Day and just keep my head where it should be and i think if sam if mark went before stan i don't know i reckon that little firecracker i reckon she would have went off yeah i feel i feel that way as well what did you think of this strategy to keep the idols rather than play it for sam kind of admitted that even when she left she said that they make the conscious decision of making it so that one person has two idols left in the game do you think that having two idols left in the game at this late stage in the game is more powerful than having both of them in the game because you've got an additional alliance member out there do you think that was the right move i you can never be comfortable in an alliance so to me i thought yeah you're really trusting that alliance even though you've already gone through so much just to get to where you are it i don't know i think i still would have flushed one probably last night i would have saved i would have definitely and i think it was jordan that kept oh no was it jordan yeah i'm pretty sure it was jordan oh josh yeah just play it bro like give it to her and they were just like what are you talking about like just play the amount of people that have gone home with idols in their pocket it just

30:27 It frustrates me and that's the game too is when you should play the idol at the right time i feel just as a person watching you look more of an idiot if you go home with an idol than playing an idol at a wrong time because at least you're playing the game and unless you're trying to take a risk it's being a bit smug about it and keeping it in your pocket it just wastes an idol like great players have gone home with idols in their pockets in the past but you know you look at i mean look at dave he went home with an idol in his pocket as well and then played a dominant game in all stars so just shows you from one season you can really go from zero to hero very quickly one of the things for me that's quite interesting is because obviously he's got two idols now that he can go back to if he does end up going through to the end and he wins the season you know a large part of that would be down to that second idol and the hard work that sam did this season so i feel like regardless between the two of the mark is probably the one that i don't know if there's a certain level of biasness here there's a lot of talk about you know if a female plays a very aggressive game they don't get the same credit as a man playing a very aggressive game and maybe some of that bias does make its way into this game but i feel like marcus better set up with the social connections that he has within the game he's not going to be held accountable for anything that sam did so

31:47 They kind of got rid of the person who potentially could have had the most backlash between the two of them and then that second person almost with no blood on their hands have now got two idols if they get to the end they've got a much better chance of winning it yeah it's i find throughout most seasons i can predict who will be sitting and also just by the edit but this has stunned me i actually have no idea ma like the survivor crew have already said to mark and sam we don't want to know we're in a sweeps so this is how serious we take it like we don't want to know who the final two is it's i don't know who it's going to be i'm pretty good at predicting but this year who do you think is between i think shay i know everyone's like oh she was good and then she's not and then she's sitting around doing nothing but i don't know i feel like if shea it i think it goes to the next couple of individual immunities like who will win who will if yeah see i'm speechless i have i honestly and every day i change like i don't know if mark will get to top two i think that even though he has his own alliance the fact that sam

33:08 Might cost him his game that's my thing like interesting yeah and if he did get into the final two what would the jury would they go yeah but you and sam did like i don't know would they hold him accountable for what she did yeah and then you've got juicy dave like he's been a bit of a latecomer and now he's sort of speaking his mind got kj i don't think chrissy will get far because i do feel she's a little bit like peter in my season we just sort of had him there and we were using him for a vote but still she's played a great game socially she seems to be very strong like i mean she has no idea what's going on no idea what's going on but socially people just love her they just want her around how big of a deal is it to have someone around you out there that you can have fun with and that you know is never going to come for you is that something that you take into consideration when you're voting people out like i'd rather have this person here a couple of days longer because we can joke around and they make the day go by a little bit quicker does that you know come to play i think that's what jerry did with me honestly like he when i went up to him and luke at day 45 and said get lockey out they at first they were just like we'll just

34:28 Keep tar around but then when i was trying to do this big move and lockheed kept winning he you know once lucky lefty and we hung out he was like she's pretty cool let's keep her around yeah whatever stupid jericho but yeah and now you still can't get rid of him okay i can't get rid of him but it's just i don't know what's your thoughts like who do you think because you would have a bit of an idea wouldn't you on what or all right let's ask who you want to and who do you think because that could be two different reasons i'm turning it around by the way i love it i love it no other guest turns it around on me and i love taking part in the conversation so that's awesome so for me i from the beginning of the season so just so you know i whiff in the first week probably second week i was a little bit unsure and then in the third week solidified that haley was going to win last season on the edit i was just like she's winning george is going to be a big character i don't know how far he's going to get i actually don't think george was going to make the merge and then absolutely loved george after the merch because the guy was just crazy and i love chaos i'm a big looky fan i know you ares while wearing your creeping t-shirt on the podcast but for me this season very early on i predicted that mark will win it based on the edit and i still believe mark is going to win it i still firmly believe this little certain subtleties

43:51 Which is really boring for us as views to watch we're very lucky that this season the minority group that came back they found a way to stay in the game and actually bring some excitement because i saw a lot of fans get really vocal about the fact that they started feeling like it was getting too predictable this season in regards to who was going home and i felt like even though it's you know it's not good for sam and for jordan to be blindsided in the way that they were blindsided as a show i think it was probably a good thing and it's going to keep people very interested in the end game here yeah it's yeah i mean yeah like i said i don't think it's better than season two but it's up there yeah definitely top hey season two at some of the some of the greatest characters like absolutely great characters in your season so that's always going to remain and there's a few players from your season that's never come back yourself included that i think you know by the time they get another second chance season or another all-star season out there which is gonna happen you know to give it two or three seasons from now maybe four there's gonna be a few more players from your season i'm very convinced that's gonna return i was a big fan of sarah as well from your season which i don't know if she'll play again but i think she would do well sarah was good yeah and you do you just you know 2017 to me was so long ago because there's been so many different seasons

45:11 Like south africa and new zealand but you do you just have that special heart when it's your own season and i think the salmon mark it's still season two because that's where they're met you know even though they're playing an amazing game now they still it's still season two bluff for them and i know that because they've said it so yeah it's a family you do build a family you know it's all about gameplay but at the end of the day you make friends for life jericho and i we will probably always be mates at the end of the day yeah it's interesting you mentioned that because i believe in all of the seasons and i can't remember how many there's been probably about five or so seasons in the us as well where players have returned on seasons with newbies only once have a returning player not mater to the final tribal council and it was the last time that they did it the previous the first four or so seasons every single time that there was a mixture of experience versus non-experience the experienced player would always find their way to the end so mark and sam came into the perfect season to be able to execute because they had this experience they were running circles around people early on when they were still trying to get to know the game i'm not taking anything away from their ability because you still have to execute and you can still get things wrong out there but i think that's something that really played in their favor this season as well

1:01:14 Change my life so yeah no 100 i mean the other thing i wanted to touch on i guess because this kind of made me think of something completely different you know i was a big fan of khan as well he was one of my favorites as well but one of the things that khan spoke about prior to the merge was how in real life he struggles to find the same connections and the friendships that he found out on the island and it sounds like you're very close still with quite a few people that you played with as well do you want to talk to why these connections can be formed on a game where you're supposed to be playing against them and you think that it's all about voting people out but then at the end of it you end up just getting these great connections from the game because every survivor player i play with they seem to really stay connected with their season and the people that they played with i think when you go from a lifestyle where you're always on your phone social media the only way you talk is through messenger you get that taken away from you actually have to open up you actually have to make conversation because you're either going to be with these people for a long time or they're going to vote you out but at the end of the day if you don't get some sort of tiny bit of emotion you can't carry that through lockheed would break down and obviously for his character they wasn't showing that but he would break down that's a big man and a very cocky
