2:32 To listen to this and then Richard from South Africa saying Kelly the orchestrator we love you Sharon also in the live here so quite a few people in the live jumping into to talk with us today so we will bring up a couple of questions in the live as it comes up but you know I'm very interested Kelly you are a psychologist you're someone that's got a profession outside of Survivor why go on to Survivor why make this leap what was the burning urge for you to jump on this show there a couple of reasons that I'm a risk taker and my whole life is full of risk and so my sister is a massive Super Fan of Survivor and has been for a very long time and she just said to me Kelly you're a producer's dream go on Survivor and I was like what I said no I'm not gonna live on an island with a bunch of people and she said yes go on Survivor and I said yeah why the hell not so she actually gave me the idea and it's because of my so my mom died at the exact age I turned on Survivor so I did this in memory of my mom because she couldn't get to live and so I've got one life and I'm living it big boys I'm living it real big I love that so much Kelly am I able to you go ahead Mony go awesome yeah I love it so much because I'm also someone who's like you only live once so you might as well try and do

3:53 As much fun things as you can right so I love your attitude towards life and did that translate into the game as well like this is my one shot I'm going to do this I'm going to do that I'm just going to be wild with it look guys I live my life for fun you know like I have a very difficult job you know I deal with such pain every day you know such sad stories I hear all the time you know and so for me having a fun life is kind of the balance so I completely bring fun to my day-to-day life with all my friends and family and absolutely had one shot once in a lifetime opportunity and I was going to make it big and I was going to make it fun and that's exactly what I did yeah we've got a couple of good questions coming in already here I'm going to bring one of them up Jenny k also believe in the United States said hi Kelly how was fair play viewing party which US players did you meet while you were over there do you know any of the players outside of fair play that you met could can you remember them I met Rachel and I met Abby Maria and she's so beautiful both those girls are beautiful and I met sugar and there was some dude that not many people knew about he it wasn't just me who didn't know about him so but

5:13 Yeah so I met those three players and gee the am been Star Struck they would have been all been Star Struck meeting you though like you just came off the Australian Titans versus I know it was it was bizarre because they' had been on it a l a long aot long time ago so there was a Americans are really nice and they're so obsessed with Survivor and I there was a lot of fans there and you know it was just it was just so fantastic and I've had so much beautiful support from fans and people writing to me around the world and yeah America was just a dream for me with Johnny and George and you know those two BLS they just rock I mean they're both amazing Legends in their own in their own you know game and just different Legends and I just love spending every minute with them and I we're going to be a we're a screen together us three I can imagine it would be a lot of fun being in one of those viewing parties with you and Chris's got a question because your sister was the big fan of Survivor did you do any Survivor prep prior to going on to the show did she get you to watch some Seasons maybe that she said hey you should watch these Seasons it's going to help you prepare for the game what sort of prep that you do well considering you only get a few weeks notice that you're going on Survivor not very long and you've got to do a lot of stuff to get ready for them

6:33 I did I watched three episodes of George's last year's season I thought I better find out what everyone's talking about this George bloke so I watch up in the island never know I watched where he had his injury over the Big Barrel I watched that one I was like w okay better train for that so I trained for that actual challenge she did that at gymnastics and my sister she's really smart she's a lawyer and she's a Survivor fan so she did say to me Kelly this and this and I'm like right and one of the things she said to me was when you go on Kelly be under the radar just do it and I remember like day three or four I said to Ry Ray my sister is going to be so disappointed in me she told me to go under the radar but I just can't do it she's gonna kill me when I get home is what I said to Ray I can't imagine like she clearly would have known you better than that knowing that you were going to be your authentic self going out into the game and tell you to stay quiet or be quiet and under the radar I just can't see

7:54 You play that way and that's you know what we did a postseason analysis of the cast and we as fans love to talk about who would we like to see come back in a future season and you would be glad to know that it was the only unanimous vote in our podcast panel I think we were back and forth on quite a few people and all three of us that were on the podcast said Cali needs to come back and play Survivor again because you were such a big character and seeing the different dynamics that you brought to the game and people having to navigate you in the game I thought made for a very exciting game what was like watching back seeing your tribe mates respond to you in the way that they did like some were on board the Cali train early on some of them were sort of it felt like you were dragging them along Kicking and Screaming what was it like experiencing this on the other side of the screen look watching yourself back is a bizarre experience and you think wow did I do that did I say that yeah well I must have but obviously you know you can't see all the massive dynamics that are occurring and you know that's just what makes this game so wonderful is that when you're on the island all I could see was these incredible dynamics that were occurring and I'm like okay well I can't I can't move in on that Dynamic

9:14 I can move in on that one so it was just wonderful to watch myself back and the way they edited me and I thought it was fantastically fun I was like oh wow did I oh that sounds really cool what I said then oh hey that sounds really stupid I said them but that's okay look I just loved watching myself back in terms of you know what I was what I was trying to do on the game I mean and obviously people didn't have much respect for me because they all thought I was stupid which was good because that was the that was the character that I wanted them to think but I probably downplayed my threat too much that I was basically ignored so I had to kind of take control yeah and listen we're going to definitely ask you a few pointy questions in regards to a couple of strategic moves that you made but from a character perspective I think you had one of the best premerge arcs of anyone that played the game and that's why I think you'll be memorable the one thing I always tell Survivor players when I interview them afterwards is at least if you were memorable that you've won half of the battle because now if the producers are thinking about a returning season in the future I don't know how they don't consider you to go out there and play the game again because you gave them so much in the period of time that you were out there if the call came to go and play Survivor again would you want to be out there again would you want to do this again you say

10:34 You take Life by the horns like are you out of are you tapped out of survival or would you be out there again next season if they asked you to go out look clearly I'm still whoop whooping all over the world guys right so I'm pretty sure I'll be back if they invited me and it's more than just about you know it's not about being famous for me it's about challenging yourself to do something that's so profound I mean who gets the opportunity to live on an island for a month with people that you do not know it is the greatest social experiment of all times and as a psychologist that's what intrigued me I just loved believing that I could be part of that experiment I mean my whole life I've Loved social experiments so I would absolutely go back in a heartbeat and when I come off that Island you know it was so peaceful on that island so moment people are beautiful my whole mind was different I was a total peace on that island even though it was hard work psychologically I still felt peace without technology without all the distractions of life it was a beautiful experience and that's beyond the game that you can't see on the game from TV that's incredible experience I have a question actually about your psychology skills because I've done a little bit of counseling work myself and something that I really love is how you're able to

11:54 Learn how to read people socially and with your psychology skills were there any reads you had on anyone that ended up being completely different to how they were portrayed on the show I get I don't want to get myself in any hot water here look no one listens to the podcast now we're lying actually a lot of classmates probably will listen to this maybe do one if there's a nice one if there's a nice one do a nice one I'm not a nasty person I never say not nice things but look I just want to say that as a psychologist I see everything and even though the edit I was fun and silly which is what I wanted to do on the game I saw everything there's nothing I missed because I conceptualize cases every day a person walks in the door I've got pretty well an hour to work out exactly what is happening for them and what I've got to do to treat them so you know it really was a playground for me even so it doesn't appear that way for me it is a playground in that I can actually have all these people that I can see the Dynamics I can see their vulnerabilities I can see their strengths and that's why I picked who I did to be part of because I can see their vulnerabilities I can see their strengths

13:15 And you know it was actually quite easy for me I'm not going to lie and people were what I thought they were awesome very interested to know you go through the audition process you get on to the show you find out that it's going to be Titans versus Rebels season were you excited about that it looks like it and how did you feel about being a rebel when you first heard the news when they phoned me and said that we were gonna that I was going to be a rebel like I felt like I was a child in a you know toy store I just screamed I was so excited the poor production just didn't know what hit them I was like I am the rebel you know I'm a re in real life you know this is who I am and they're like yes Kelly that's why we put you on the rebels tribe if they would put me on the Titans tribe even though technically I'm probably a Titan in terms of my profession it just wouldn't have done it for me I am I'm a rebel at heart I that's why I say I was born a rebel I'm gonna die Rebel that's who I am yeah and you get onto you know the show you get into your Rebel tribe talk us through like your early sort of thoughts and who did you gravitate towards in the tribe in those early stages like who were your people you said you immediately knew where the clicks were and you could fit in can you talk us through those

14:35 Initial moments on the beach so you saw me on the boat with Ferris and with Rey and I'm like you know and I'm like intense we're fighting those Titans you know and I obviously Ferris and re were the first people that I met you know we're on the boat together so I saw Ferris as this beautiful full strong and he was actually quite rebellious and I was sitting there I'm going Ferris ferrish I don't think you should do that and he's like I'm tired I'm doing what I want Kell I'm like yes I've got another rebel I was so proud of him I was like yes Ferris is a rebel I was like you know they put him on the right on the right tribe and re was just the sweetest person in the world and I was like wow how were you a rebel and it's not what not until I got to know her and I thought yeah I can see why they put her on but one of the early people was Kirby for me I saw her standing on the beach and she was looking out to the ocean and I'll never forget this and I tell her this all the time and I looked at her and I said you're my mob girl because you are a strong proud Aboriginal woman and because I know Aboriginal people and Indigenous people very well because of my own family and my relationships I just saw she was my girl so basically

15:55 I her and I just thought she's going to be my Sor no you're good yeah I thought I thought my microphone had crept out and I was like what off now yes I saw Kirby as my girl I really clicked early with Sarah and she was cheeky and she's a Leo and her and Tobias and me were just like these this threesome who were like naughty and together right in that first day and then obviously I saw Ray and I was like oh what a beautiful man so yeah rayis Kirby Sarah you know like they were my mob I suppose yeah and it's kind of I mean immediately those were the people you ended up working with for quite a bit in the game as well we've got Tom one of our fellow co-hosts in the live saying there's a rose between two thorns on the screen so a bit of a compliment there for you we've got Sharon asking or saying I think you played us all with your character do you have any acting in your sites do you want to do some acting maybe on screen look I'm not going to lie I've actually been told my whole life that I'm actually really quite a good actor and I think as a psychologist

17:15 Even though you are authentic you still can't bring who you are into that space because you are all there for the client so even if I might feel something I can't produce that because it's the journey is for the client so for me I have to put myself to the side all the time and I think that's where I get my supposed acting skills from and I call it my Kel's method of acting I also do standup comedy so I go into characters doing stand-up comedy so for me basically Survivor was a bit of my stage I suppose for my standup comedy and I was misunderstood by a lot of people but I really would like to do some acting and I ideally thank you for asking me this question because I'd love to do some hosting I think that I'd be able to just talk off the top of my head and I'd be able to do you know whatever I thought I'd be able to make people laugh and I think I'd like to do some hosting so yeah TV is something I'd love to love to move into and even though I love psychology I think it's time yeah I think you I think you do amazing at it and maky himself is a bit of an actor himself maky yeah I wouldn't call myself a counselor I've done like small work like within primary schools and stuff like that but you know you want to you said you're Ken for some acting and performance I was thinking maybe you know you sung an amazing

18:35 Parody Rebel Cal and obviously your biggest rival and Need You Now by mcky E would you be Keen to do the voice Australia some time are you guys insane like seriously am I gonna diagnose you with that look I think I'd be pretty hilarious on The Voice and I think I would probably Kyle will probably rip his hair out which is probably good but you know what that Rebel Kel song my sister said to me you know you're a rebel you're Kell Rebel Yell and I was like yeah right and I just wrote that song in about half an hour 45 minutes Ray was with me when I wrote it and Ray wanted to use chat gbt and I'm like no way I'm not using that I'm just doing it from the heart so I wrote that song from the heart and I was very emotional at the time because I just seen Ray you know after coming off the island and I just wrote it and he helped me with the music and it's a very good it's a very beautiful song for me because it's about me and my experience on Survivor and it's about all the beautiful people that I met and it was about why I did what I did so it's my story and I think no offense to eile I just think that it's quite different than what she's done M mine is very different I do have a question for you mentioned that you know not everybody sort of perceived

19:55 You in the in the same way or they weren't as receptive to the way that you the game you had a very famous or inFAMOUS relationship with Alex on the island you know I think if we had to see a rival season in the future possibly Kelly and Alex would be back out there playing Survivor once more I'm very interested about you know specifically the vote where you saved Alex and Tobias ended up going home why did you change your vote can you talk to us a little bit about that early stages with Alex and why you felt like you wanted to keep him for a little bit longer in the game because obviously he's got you to thank for it he would have been gone pre-merge if you didn't change your vote I know I'm still waiting for his thank you know I keep saying where's my thank you Alex look that was a very important and instrumental vote for my game my sister did teach me some things and she said to me you want to have a resume and I'm like what the hell's that and she said you want to do moves and I'm like okay it was very early on the game and I think people weren't ready for such a huge move which is why it was really hard for me after I did that you know my tribe didn't trust me I believed I had to work hardest to stay on that tribe post merge because I am a rebel and I'm not going to lie and I do things it's almost like because I've been a psychologist so long

21:16 It's like I do these instinctual moves and it's not even like I truly understand it at the time but I do like I know what I'm doing and why but trying to explain that to people is like trying to explain my role as a psych it's almost impossible so I just knew that Sarah's game was being blocked by Tobias they were a very strong cuddle crew I knew we taking out Peter we were going to take them out one by one that four cuddle crew was going one by one and then I thought to myself hang on E wanted to do this vote where Sarah the minority got to make a decision and they talk about that this is you know don't be emotional and all that stuff I wasn't acting emotionally I was acting very clearly they were in fact acting emotionally they were like oh poor Sarah poor Sarah you know blah we can't do this we've got to let Sarah decide and I'm like we are the rebels we are the majority let's make a decision and they wouldn't listen to me right you hear me in the edit going but ien and she's like Kelly A is for Alex B is for Blindside and I'm thinking no that's not that's not that's not a Blindside that's just Sarah going to vote Alex out that's boring I don't do boring boys I don't do boring ever I do interesting and I do that vote

22:36 Purposefully and I thought to myself if I take out Tobias I take out the entire rest of that crew because they were they were threesome but they but Sarah and Alex were not tight and you see that afterwards you see Alex was floating Sarah was floating trying to find their space if they were tight they would have come together but didn't so taking that Tobias that triangle that Dynamic it's all about dynamics that Dynamic is gone whereas if I would have taken out Alex we would have still had a very strong Dynamic which was Sarah and Tobias no one wants to take such a strong Dynamic even further no one wants to strong Dynamic like that to stay together AB it did work out exactly like you said and you know it led to one of I think the most fun moments of the Prem merge which was the poem that you had straight afterwards for sah do you still remember that poem because that was a legendary piece of Television I know look what seems to break your heart today is merely a ripple in the ocean of adversity of Life further ahead and I was trying to explain to Sarah that this is so small what I've done is so small you know there's a lot more stuff we've got coming to in this game and Survivor is a representation of life it is microcosm of life

23:57 And it's very it's at that level we've got we've got a very short amount of time to live our life in this game and I said it's painful today but we've got a lot more we've got to do in this game so we're going to move on quickly and that's what I was trying to explain you know you guys don't see but by the time you saw me say that was like seven hours seven hours of me having to explain to everyone why I did what I did me having to I was ostracized all day people were angry with me people said I was stupid like why would you do that we can't trust you Kelly I had to work really hard and that's what I say that I worked I think one of the hardest pre merge to stay on that game because people were pretty cranky with me after that but they didn't understand it but I did I understood everything and that's why I did it the show tried to portray whether if this was actually happening or not that you did that to specifically save Alex's well because you believed that you guys had a good connection and could work forward together Alex was fun he was silly you know I don't think really Alex knew the game that well at that point you know I don't know what happened I don't know whatever really happened but I think Alex really didn't know he was just a boy doing boy stuff he was being

25:17 A bloke and I just thought I know bles like Alex I can handle him but Tobias was older he was quiet and you know my sister did say be aware of The Quiet Ones whereas Alex is not a quiet one you can read Alex and I was like yep I can read Alex I know that me and Alex are kind of fun even though we've got this friend ofy relationship he's kind of a fun guy like me and Tobias is quiet and I didn't I liked Tobi don't get me wrong I think he's an incredible man he's like driven and I respect him immensely but I didn't trust him and I just thought with Alex I believe there's a greater chance that we will be able to work together and also like I said because of Tobias and Sarah but and I do think you know Alex and me even though we're friend of me it's kind of a fun banter too so it's like you know I liked that about him so I just thought we could work closer together and I think we were you didn't see a lot of that but you know heading towards merge we were like you can see the change within us after our battles at tribal you can see the change starting so yeah I think it was the right got a very big fan in the live that has left a couple of comments now Guantanamo Ray that's Raymond for yourell

27:58 Don't know why you wouldn't want to work with him potentially in a future season look I'm not going to say that Alex is the easiest person to work with but I have a real soft spot for Alex and I mean that's pretty obvious but like Alex is really strong stubborn strong world and he is driven and I have a lot of respect for his physicality you know as a man but yeah of course I'd try and work with Alex but I'm not saying it's going to be easy he wouldn't be my easiest person to work with I'm going to tell you the truth I'd have to spend a lot of time trying to do my persuasion with Alex I'd have to really work hard to persuade him yeah I agree with Ray on this one when we put Kelly into our legendary casting seg segment when we did our tier ranking we said both Alex and Kelly definitely for the amazing R race I think that would make a very fun season because you'd have to work together you'd be forced to work together out there no but imagine the chaos imagine the fireworks and the chaos and I don't know whether Alex is kind of psychologically at this point in his life whether he's mature enough to handle that but I reckon it'd be fantastic and I reckon the chaos would sell TV but anyway you got to convince him of that I'm right I'm there but you got to convince him of

29:18 That so talk us through like you know being the sabur going over to the other Camp you end up getting voted to go to that camp what was your you didn't really want to go that's what it was it looked like that on the edit I don't know if you can talk to it didn't look like you necessarily wanted to go but when you found out that it was going to be you going over there did you have a game plan in mind because you were required to go and throw a challenge on that side look there's a number of thought PR processes that took place you know it had been pretty tough at that point you know Alex was smart gameplay and that he was trying to make me look bad in order to take the Heat of him so it was exhausting all the time having to deal with that so you know going over to the other tribe I knew that the Titans were more academic I knew that they probably were people that I work with every day so I was on one hand happy about that but you know you've got to know that I had to pretend the whole time that I was stupid so I had to pretend with my tribe that I didn't want to do this you know I just can't look like someone who

30:38 Is happy to do everything that they want because that's just not who I am number one but I'm I don't want to use the word manipulating but I suppose that's what it comes down to you know when you're when you're playing this game I'm manipulating I'm making these people believe I'm someone that I'm not so I had to pretend I didn't want to go over right and then they had to and you know part of me is a rebel that I didn't really like want to easily go over because I did have a nice little niche with the rebels you know so I was a bit sad because I was going to miss Ray and you know Kirby and you know Scotty and re and I'm all those people you know I was going to miss them and Ferris and e but you know when I got there I must admit they were really nice they were beautiful to me so I just made a decision that I wasn't going to follow what the what my tribe had told me to do I'm a rebel I've told everyone a million times they knew that I make my own path I Blaze my own path my father always said to me Kelly you walk Where Angels Fear To Tread and that's why one of the episodes is called Where Angels Fear To Tread and that's what I did I did another walk Where Angels Fear To Tread and I didn't listen for the second time to My Tribe and was there any like repercussion

31:58 When you came back to the rebel tribe because obviously if your tribe lost the challenge you're going to hit back like at any point were thinking you know what like the rebels are giving me a lot of shirt I might as well just work with the Titans did you ever think that at all or look I knew that I had a strong feeling I was going to get to merge so I was like well I'm going to develop some relationships here with some of the girls and one and the girls were Kitty and Caroline I was talking to I was talking to a little bit with Mark around the well with Eden a little bit and obviously with Nathan because he's the sweetest man alive so I knew I wanted to also Forge those relationships early on because I had a feeling I was going to get to merge at that point and I thought well I want to I want to have those bonds already formed so that's one of the reasons why I also wanted the Titans to trust me and I knew that the rebels thought I was stupid and impulsive and that was a fantastic cover for me impulsive and stupid and you hear me go to Sarah at the end when I did the Tobias F well look maybe I'm just impulsive and I do these things okay I'm sorry any that wasn't my greatest acting then I'm tired but

33:19 You know like I knew they thought I was silly and I didn't know things so it was easy it was easy for me when I come back I was just like what do you mean alliances there was no alliances I didn't see anything like I got away with it guys I got away with it was easy yeah I'm sorry it did look it did look like you got away with it but I'm very interested because just before you go back to the rebels Camp I want to backtrack a little bit there was a moment obviously you didn't throw the challenge you get voted out in Tribal Council one of my criticisms as a podcaster and I'm an armchair critic right so I've never played the game before and I'm very aware of that it's easy when you're sitting in the sideline so we don't get to see everything I just thought brilliant move not to throw it I probably wouldn't have wanted to throw it either to be honest like I probably would want to build Bridges with the Titans I was just shocked that as you were leaving Tribal Council you didn't let the Titans know that hey my mission was to throw the challenge and I didn't do it because I couldn't do it to you guys to try and buy a little bit of good favor with them can you maybe talk through what it was like in the moment you know jail P tells everybody you're going back to Camp like you know what was it like and why didn't you potentially take that opportunity to try and build some add additional allegiances CU you actually did a good thing you just didn't let them know about it I suppose I also was mindful that if we made

34:39 It to merge they would also be they would also tell the rebels that I betrayed the rebels and I didn't want the rebels also to know that I betrayed them yeah and that makes sense a catch 22 right that's the thing of Survivor you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't sometimes so what I did for a lot of the game is I just skipped over things I just you'd hear me I would just be saying stuff and I'd skip over it and I'd change the topic and I'd distract people which is what I did for the nearly all the game I distract people so they would they would not understand what I was doing so I kept people guessing people were confused by me the whole entire time what I was doing and that's part of a manipulation technique and so I didn't want to tell the Titans what I did because I didn't want them to betray me too post merge and tell the tell the rebels because I knew we were going to have Rebels on that as well and you know even and even still at the end of the day I also in my heart I'm a I'm a soccer player and I'm a real team player and you asked my team that and I always say May the best team win so I knew I had it a bit cushy already on the Titans the Titans liked me and I knew that the rebels liked me and I really wasn't at risk even though it may it seemed I was so I actually really
