00 Welcome back to the nullify Tech channel here on YouTube where I've got the TNT takes for you on million dollar Island Australia episode two that's right we're back let's get into the top five talking points here but before we do please be sure to subscribe please be sure to hit the like button and let us know your own top five takes here for this episode we're going to start with take away number one and that is that it was Jonathan's episode of power or was it really Carlos because Carla is emerging as a bit of a power player here in this specific episode you know I've got my eye set on finding that player or players that are going to be running this game at a more strategic level for Survivor when it started out in the US all those years ago it was Richard Hatch and could Carla be the Richard Hatch of million dollar Island Australia the person who brings a little bit of that strategy connivingness and cut throatness to the game because Jonathan you know he is isolated from his Camp he doesn't know which direction to go in and he says that he doesn't like to make decisions on his own in some ways I feel like this could play out really well for Jonathan in the long run because when he does go back to the island or back to the camps he does look for volunteers people who would rather put themselves in danger to go and

20 Go into the challenge or you know a consensus type of vote from people like who are the people that are currently sort of sticking their necks out they're maybe like socially not fitting in with the group and I think that when you're playing a game such as this where all the power is in your hands so early on this is a great way to deflect some of that unnecessary attention that you may get in the game if you make this decision where you could go back and say listen this wasn't really anything personal it wasn't that I didn't like you I actually asked for people to put a name forward and for it to almost be like a vote to get this person into the challenge where you know the blame may still come your way because you're the person with power you could have saved them but I do think this is probably the best way Jonathan could have played this round and play his hand but Carla sees this as an opportunity she is someone that is seen as a bit of a leader by her tribe which could play out well for her in the long run or it could be a case of tallest tree catching the most wind and if they find out that she was behind this vote especially to put two strong players into this challenge in Shani and Dean she may be in some trouble heading into the next round in the game so going to really come down to how good can she cover her tracks in this game but I love what I'm seeing from her let's get some of these threats out early in the game sadly for her you know

40 She didn't get it quite this time but you know like they say you know you got to swing for the fences if you're playing a game such as this and at this stage Carla is giving me everything when a lot of other people we're just not seeing that extra level of strategy coming into their gameplay yet so hats off to her for taking a shot here at two very powerful players in the game take away number two here is that we do see that even in million dollar Island Australia a new competitive reality TV show some of the old rules that we've seen play out of the many seasons of Survivor and Big Brother still applies to this game you don't want to be someone that sticks your neck out too far you don't want to be someone that brings unnecessary attention to you because early on here in this episode we learn a bit more about Alpha and Alpha is someone that is a very interesting character I think as tribe mates look at him as someone that is a bit combative he's self-reliant he wants to go out and make a raft catch fish do everything on his own and we as an audience obviously let into her story like we understood the medical condition of his brother his mother relies on him and he's trying to win this money so his mother can stop working Alpha really has one of these stories out there by the end of this episode in the beginning I was like I don't know if I would have gotten along with him but by the end of it I really was sort of rooting for him to get his bracelet back in the game so

00 He could go back out there and sort of fight forward but I think the thing that got him in danger was that socially he wasn't fitting into his tribe and due to that they nominated him as someone that they would be okay to lose in this early stages in the game Vicky I don't know how she got in trouble maybe she didn't get much of an edit because of the fact that she was willing to quit at the end and didn't really fight for her spot in the game so she was a little bit of a left field one but the other person here that stood out for me as well was Louise also falling into one of the age old sort of traps when it comes to playing a reality TV show we see this with the challenge all the time where people throw themselves in thinking that they can bolt up some sort of a reputation or they feel like they need to prove themselves while they're out there so they have to throw themselves in to go and win a challenge so they can feel like they're worthy to be there if you're out there just the fact that you were selected makes you worthy to be out on the show but it's also in some ways refreshing because when we watch current reality TV shows that have been on for a long time especially Survivor comes to mind we do get a lot of people that are game Bots that know the right move every single time so it doesn't leave for sloppy play now Louise seems like a great right person and her personal story of having gone through the floods losing everything having

20 To stand back up on her feet you know living in a camper van and all that is a story that I think anybody can get behind but I don't think anybody that watches reality TV a lot and think about it strategically would have made the same decision that she made in this episode by volunteering to go into a challenge especially because she went up against absolute beasts and both Dean and Shani like physical capable players going up against her chances was always going to be very slim to actually get through the specific challenge so really a bad move for her to throw herself in so early I think that even if you asked the both Shani and Dean they didn't look like the two players even though they're capable they would have thrown themselves in there and that's why they were nominated and they didn't volunteer to go down there the last person here that obviously also really stood out and made one of these age-old mistakes when it comes to reality TV was Melissa I really enjoyed Melissa this episode in the beginning I could see a lot of similarities to that mother figure that sometimes used to exist in the early days of Survivor where she just wants to do good by everyone and help them you know and show them a better way of surviving in Camp but that can sometimes come across as annoying to certain individuals out there but I think Melissa you could see by the end of this episode being a previous Midwife

41 That is just something that is within her core that is something she's lived out for such a long time and she couldn't shut that off which obviously by the end of this episode it came back to bite her in the butt Breakaway number three let's talk about the challenge the challenge here that these individuals who get nominated have to go and compete in is a challenge where they have to catapult a coconut and shoot targets Circle targets basically and each Target represents one of their lives in the game so each individual nominated player had three lives now this obviously means we've seen this many a times play out in other type of reality TV shows like the challenge and also on Survival where different alliance members can work together you can easily gang up on individuals in this game and I think that Shani and Dean going into this with a friendship already and having worked together clearly that worked out because Melissa really impressed me she continued to impress me by being very capable for someone that is already in her 60s and really doing well with these different targets that she was shooting out there but she was outsmarted in some ways by the Strategic play of both Shani and Dean here Shani hats off to her obviously going in here someone that Carla really targeted very early on she already sees that Shani could be a threat and I think that assessment is correct because

01 If people looked at Charney you know they may have thought she's just a pretty face someone that's physically gifted but she clearly shows here that she does also have a really good memory because you know taking the time to go out there and actually memorize these different photos with people's names that's something that would have been my worst nightmare I struggled with names as it is and it takes me a long time to remember them so it was a pretty good skill set of hers to just be able to knock all of those out and then also you know get again we spoke about it in the previous episode get herself back in the game when she was kind of behind it's actually quite ironic that both the players that have won so far have been once that were behind in the beginning and again it shows that big match temperament where they just didn't lose their call and she did clutch out the win from behind here for a very brief moment here she became the richest person in the game tying Brett as they both had sixty thousand dollars in the game but obviously that is going to be taken away from her because there is a Twist coming up here and takeaway number four which is there is a fire making challenge that will determine who else in the game will be able to win their bracelet back so before we even talk about the fire making challenge itself one of the things that stood out for me is that you know Brett really had the advantage here of no one being able to get their bracelet back in the game is

21 It unfair that Shani has to go down there and give one of her bracelets away which she earned just as much as bread and suddenly she is no longer the equal richest person on the island which means she's not safe for the next round in my mind it's a little bit unfair but I mean this is a new reality TV show they're probably going to change rules from round to round and people will just have to sort of go with it but I did feel for Shani she worked just as hard as Brett to get that money but she had to give it back I'm sure if you asked her she was very happy to give that bracelet back to Dean because that at least is an ally in the game someone that has now proven themselves you know that he's battle tested to work with her so she knows that is someone she can rely on in the game and maybe that is worth more than the extra ten thousand dollars that she would have gotten if she didn't have to give it back to him but the fire making challenge itself was very interesting again something that you could easily say is taken from Survivor because they have to do this 5 making to prove that they can survive out there and for me you know it was actually quite impressive again thinking back about Heather in this last season of Survivor 44 she made that fight in a record time of three minutes if I remember correctly and these people were struggling out there to get it under an hour and if Melissa didn't help them maybe more people would have fallen out and I do want to know from you the audience how many of you and be truthful

41 About this would have actually helped the other people out there to get their fire before the cut-off of one hour because I could tell you now without any uncertainty I would not have done it now if someone else started doing it while I'm out there I probably would have fallen in because you don't want to be the only person being seen as this Cutthroat player out there but I would not have wanted to be that person who went out there at first to help other players get their fire started because this is your competition in the game you've got a clear shot at getting a bracelet back and by getting them their fire they are going to go and beat against you which Melissa bless his soul great human being but you know this is great in life this is not great in a competitive reality TV show where only three people will win this game at the end you need to knock these people out and your life is at stake and it sadly did come back to bite her in the butt because the next morning they have to take this fire run down to the beach and then recreate the fight to burn through rope and then surprise Dean comes and he wins this Luis they're pretty good as well but you know Dean does end up winning it and in some ways it was justified because he got second in that first challenge so you know I was happy for both Shani and Dean that they actually did end up finding their way back in the game even though I was gutted for Melissa that she made this rookie mistake out there like I said great thing to see with you know just Humanity

01 As a whole and this is how we're going to go into this last takeaway here for takeaway number five I do think that this show is sort of starting off a little bit slow like the first episode was exciting the second episode there is still a lot that we can talk about and I'm sure Kahuna and Mucky will go into all of this when they do their full recap and review live later on this week please be sure to check that out and that has already been posted here on the channel as well I will put a link in the description below so you can go check that out make sure to jump on the life if you're in Australia and take part in the conversation we love to get your comments up so we can talk about it but you know the show's starting a little bit slow with some people still being very nice about how they do things out there they're still like this level of camaraderie that forms with everybody struggling together to try and get this fire going try and keep the fire up at night there's a lot of talk about how difficult it would have been to stay awake and you know I say this in the comfort of my own home but I do feel like I'm a night person I probably would have been okay I understand when you haven't eaten a lot maybe you're a lot more tired when you're out there but I do think they still have some supplies at least at this stage it's going to get a lot harder if they had to do this 20 days in I'm sure would have been a lot harder to do this out there to stay awake and keep the fire going but you know for now it's all about the Aussie spirit it's all about helping your fellow man or

22 Woman up you know and sort of pushing them forward in this game but I do think as the money becomes more real and people can taste it we're going to see some conniving gameplay we're gonna see some things where people are going to go and sabotage another Camp steal food you know this is not going to last but it's interesting to see it so far I'm loving this whole Camp life that we're seeing and how people are trying to survive together we also had a player actually in the comment section let us know that the bracelets itself cannot be given like you can't give one bracelet to save someone you have to gift them all of your bracelets and your life in the game so you know I think that it's going to be interesting moving forward I'm in it for the long haul let me know what's your thoughts on million dollar Island Australia so far now that we're two episodes in please comment below it does help with the YouTube algorithm as well and it will help our Channel get recognized or seen by more people and the more subscribers we have you know the more Channel grow the more shows like this we can do here on the channel and we want to continue to add to this as well but for now thank you so much for watching and catch you guys next time bye
