00 And welcome everyone to the North Island Tech channel here on YouTube, where we've got the TNT text for you on Traders New Zealand. Once again, here with another beautiful deep dive with the wonderful and magnificent Molly. But just before we check in with Molly, I've got to introduce my co-host, my number one, the one beautiful lady who's always stuck by me throughout this whole experience. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the wonderful, the amazing, the stunning V. V, how are you? Not too bad. It's spring has sprung and I'm feeling good. That's good. That's I'm glad you're like a weather reporter just then. I'm glad I'm glad you're feeling good cuz I get really bad hay fever, so I feel like I'm walking on my deathbed as spring is, you know, slowly coming along, slowly coming along. But if I'm on my deathbed, we've got someone to bring life to all of us.

53 One of the nicest players on Traders New Zealand. She was so wonderful. Everyone, please welcome the great and the amazing Molly. Molly, how are you? So great to be here. Yeah, what have you What have you been up to since the show has ended? Just recovering a little bit from everything that happened. And then just trying to get back into reality and work and, you know, catch up with friends and family and stuff like that. But yeah, it was definitely a crazy experience. So I'm just kind of trying to take some time for it. What has the adjustment been like? Cuz for some people they really struggle to like come back into reality after these sort of games. Like has it been a bit of a struggle for you or have you been coping all I'd say like the first two or three weeks after filming, I had a constant nightmares every night just because I dreamt that I was still back in the game and that people were still trying to deceive me.

46 And so when I was having conversations with my friends and stuff at work, I'd have to remember and keep reminding myself like that they are not going to backstab you. Like it's a normal conversation. You're okay. You're in a safe space. It was a bit of a difficult transition, but eventually we got there. And just randomly, did you go up to like, you know, your friends and family be like, "Hmm, I think that person's a traitor." And they're like, "What?" I found myself like kind of start to look at their behaviors and be like, "That's suspicious." But no, it was just them. Well, what has your experience with Traders been like? Were you a fan of the show before you went on? I honestly, when I saw the posting for the show, I actually had never seen it. I'd heard of it, but I had never seen it. And so obviously, like once I applied, I was like, "You know what? Maybe I should watch the show." So my partner and I binge watched it within like a few days or so, and I just like fell in love with it.

42 So I was like super excited obviously when they wanted to actually have me on it. So yeah. Exciting. Well, did you watch Traders Canada as well? No, I haven't actually seen I've seen the UK one, but I haven't seen the Canadian one yet. Oh, nice. I highly recommend it. It's Yeah, I want to go through and watch them all. I just needed like a second to not think about Traders for a minute. Fair enough, fair enough. Well, once you're like I guess like cast on the show, was it anything else that you did like for prep before you went on or was it just like you were going blind? I think like I know that a few other people kind of like, you know, strategized a lot and kind of thought about what kind of game they wanted to play. And obviously, I did a bit of that, but it was more just like my strategy going in was just kind of be authentic and just try and be me and show people that like I'm not there to deceive them or that kind of thing.

33 So I think it was just a lot of like mentally preparing myself to like be away from everything I've ever known and being isolation and just like be in a situation that I'd never been in before, I guess. Yeah. Oh my god, but that's like such a crazy story, you know, on like coming onto the Traders. And then you go up from the get-go, you know, you're willing to play big. You pick up that cheeky glass of rosé. What's going through your mind there? I swear to you, I genuinely thought it was rosé. Like I only drink rosé, and so I was like, "Oh, great, rosé." So I went to go take it. And then as soon as I picked it up, I kind of looked around and I was like, "Oh, crap, there's only like one other glass that's rosé. Like there must be something else happening here." And then of course there was. So that wasn't a gameplay. That was me just wanting rosé.

24 I mean, fair enough, fair enough. I mean, when you're presented that choice, you know, was it 10,000 or 15,000 that you get to keep? 5,000. Oh, 5,000. Were you ever like tempted just to keep the 5,000? I was. And honestly, I told Whitney afterwards, I was like, "If you had taken it, I would have taken it." But I just I didn't want to be that first one to like make that move, and I didn't want to give people a reason to vote me out at the very beginning cuz obviously, the first vote like the first banishment, you have no idea. You have nothing to go on, right? So I was like, "I don't want to be like considered like a bad faithful or like untrustworthy or whatever or selfish, right? So yeah, and I also didn't really believe that like Paul Henry was telling the truth that like you got the 5,000 like that was it. Like I figured there was something else, too. So yeah, I just kind of was like, "I'm just going to let it be there and, you know, I'm obviously here for the experience and obviously I want to win, but hopefully, you know, that karma will bring me along in the game further." Yeah.

18 Well, you know, you get chosen as a faithful. What was your initial reactions to being a faithful? Were you like a bit disappointed? Did you always want to be a faithful or Honestly, I went into the game wanting to be a traitor just because like I've done a lot of theater and a lot of acting when I was younger. And so I was like, "Oh, this is like that would be such a cool experience to try and like fool everybody." And so initially, when Paul didn't tap me on the shoulder, like I was a little disappointed. But as the game went on and like the potential for like recruits started happening, I was just like praying that I was not chosen to be a like a traitor at that point because I'd now like built these bonds with these people and I was like, "I cannot wake up in the morning and go lie straight to their face." Like that would I couldn't do it. So yeah, definitely grateful for how that turned out. Yeah, well, something that was quite interesting I guess about your game is that while we didn't see you a lot in like the confessionals explaining what you were doing, we constantly saw people like coming up to you for like, you know, plans and stuff.

17 Like there was even Mike come up to you as one of the few people to try to take down Whitney. You're always in these groups and stuff. So I'd love for you to I guess like dive deep into exactly like who your close connections were and like how you were moving through the start of the game. For sure. Yeah, so like I definitely was just trying to be kind of like a social butterfly and just kind of like float around and just kind of get everybody's take on everything because obviously I had my own opinions, but I just wanted to see like where the group was with that type of thing. So yeah, you can definitely see there's lots of shots where I'm kind of just like floating around and trying to see what everyone else is up to. And so as the game progressed, like when the game first started, like Bree and I were definitely like the she was my closest person for sure. just cuz we walked in wearing the same thing on the first day, so we instantly became best friends, so that was good. And then as it went on, like I'd say that like Ben and I became quite close as well.

11 And so it was kind of nice to have like my core set of people where like I knew that like in the morning we would chat and then we could kind of go off and like chat to other people and like use our other connections and stuff like that. And then kind of come back at the end of the day and kind of like regroup almost and do something like that. So that was kind of my gameplay. But yeah, I'd say I was like my closest connections were probably Bree, Ben, and then Donna as well was somebody that I really valued her opinion on stuff as well. What was your connection with Bree? hard to So was it hard to make those connections, make those friendships be genuine but with one eye, one ear sort of on them thinking, "Are you legit? Are we friends? Or is this just an act?" Yeah, what's the relationship there? It was weird. Like it was like a I think I think I just kind of like figured like figured out that they were faithful.

05 And of course you can never be 100% sure, but I have a pretty good read on people. And I'm usually pretty good at like kind of determining where I mean, most of the time, where people where their What's the word? Like what their intentions are, if that makes sense. And so like I think I could tell for a while that they were faithful. I think there was like a few moments where I was like, "Like what's going on?" Like when Bree, you know, especially like at the round table when she would get like a little you know, different than she normally is throughout the day and kind of react differently. You know, it was those kind of moments where I was like, "You know, could there be something more there?" But for the most part, like I'd say like all the way through like I was sure from day one that Ben was a faithful. And like I even if I got to the finale and like he like I would have known that he was a faithful. Like there would be no universe that he wouldn't be kind of thing. And of course he ended up being a traitor and then you know, XYZ.

57 But yeah, for the most part, it was pretty good What was your relationship like with Brittany because quite often on screen we'd see the pair of you hanging out a lot. Were you quite close with Brittany? Absolutely. Yeah, so I'd say like the first few days I was a little I don't want to say weirdy cuz weirdy's not the right word, but I think I was really intimidated by her because she's so pretty and just like so sure in herself. And I was just like, "Wow, I am not at all like her." And so I just was like a little scared of her in that regard. But once we actually like were teamed up for some challenges and like started chatting, that kind of thing, like I just instantly I was just like, "Oh my gosh, you're just an amazing person." So yeah, I feel like she was definitely someone that I was close to. And I definitely had her back. And I just really enjoyed being able to play with her. And I'm sad that she didn't last longer, but yeah, she was cool.

49 Yeah, well, in episode 3, Molly, I almost had a heart attack, right? Cuz that was the crazy vote where there was a tie between you and Jackie, I believe it was. And I kind of felt like it came out of nowhere. I think I even said on the podcast, where did this crazy vote split, you know, come from? Because we see Joe come in and he's like, "Oh, it's Molly and it's Brittany. You know, they're winking at each other or something." Like, can you walk us through why people were potentially gunning after you? Yeah, I have no idea what that was. I know that like Britt and I definitely There was no shared look. Like it was more just like a The music ended, I just looked up and she was looking at me and like it was just like a smile like, "Good luck. Hope you don't die." kind of thing. And then like Joe obviously picked up on that and that wasn't anything, but I think that like you know, I felt like we had dealt with it as it came up and like we talked it out at the round table and I felt people were their suspicions were not on me.

46 And then of course like with the Jackie vote I don't even I don't know what happened. I think because I was so I wasn't expecting at all to have my name brought up, which that was naive of me because like obviously you're at a round table, you're trying to figure out who the traders are. Like you should always kind of be expecting something like that, but I was not. And so I just I when people started like being like, "Molly, are you a trader?" I was like, "No. Why would I be a trader?" And I just like I was like, "I haven't done anything wrong. So like how do I prove to you that I'm faithful when I haven't done anything to suggest otherwise?" And so that was like the concept for me that was hard to wrap my head around. And then of course I hadn't had any defense lined up because I had nothing to defend. And so I was just like, "What? Like What do you mean? Like now I'M NOT A TRADER?" LIKE YEAH, IT WAS definitely not my best moment. And so I think moving forward I will never be a lawyer.

38 But I also I'm grateful that Jackie with her, you know, when Paul gave us that 1 minute to kind of like preach to everyone like about not being a trader. I feel like her speech wasn't as like convincing that she wasn't a trader just cuz she, you know, didn't fully say it. She just kind of was like, "Well, you know, might be, might not be." So yeah, I think it was that kind of saved me, which I'm obviously grateful to have lasted longer, but yeah, I learned from that experience. Put it that way. Yeah, I mean, what was that feeling like coming out from the banishment? Cuz you were literally a sneeze away from getting voted out. Yeah, I literally I held it together until probably when the votes were counted and Jackie was standing up there and you could There's like a shot.

29 I'm grateful that the that production didn't have the camera just zoomed in on me the entire time cuz I was like just like breaking down and I just was like shaking and just like having a full on like panic attacks I had like made it through the event, but then like afterwards my body reacted to it. And so we're walking out of the banishment like out of the round table and like you can't see it, but like Ben jumps up and just gives me a hug and he's like, "Oh, you're shaking. You're shaking." I'm like, "I can't stop." So it was very nice to have everyone surrounding me. And then I kind of chatted with a few other players and I feel like, you know, that was kind of it and everyone was just like, "Not Molly. She's not a trader. She's just bad with defense." So you were hoping that maybe your reaction, your honest reaction to being completely thrown by this event that hopefully would carry give you a bit of good grace to sort of back off the trader conversation.

21 Exactly. I think it was Andrew. Someone I think it was Andrew that said to me like the morning after like at breakfast he was like, "I know you're not a trader just because of the way that you reacted." Like it was clear that your reaction was just because you had a bad defense and not because you were trying to hide something. Like you were, you know, up you could tell kind of thing. And so I actually I stood up at breakfast. they didn't show it, but I stood up at breakfast when everyone got in and I was just like, "Look guys, like obviously last night was really intense. Like I appreciate you keeping me around. If anybody has any things that they want to chat with me about to just like settle, like please come up to me today and like we can chat and have that because, you know, I'm obviously faithful. So I think that helps settle some nerves as well with people. That's so crazy that like, you know, even with your shaking, people are like, "Oh, that's such an obvious faithful move." Because quite often if someone else does it like we saw like Jane drinking some water and T is like, "TRAITOR!

14 SHE'S A TRAITOR! SHE'S DRINKING WATER!" LIKE, you know? We were wrong about that. Yeah, I don't know what the difference was. I think like I don't know. Like maybe with Jane like maybe it was just like the nervousness. Like you could tell that she was like anxious about something versus mine was more of a reactive like to something that was happening right then and there. I don't I don't know. I Yeah, that's my only thought on that because I mean I knew from like I was looking back through my journal that I'd kept and like I had Jane's name written down for quite a while, but like I she wasn't someone that was like super high on my list kind of thing. So I didn't see the drinking water as something suspicious. I just saw it as like she was just thirsty. So I think people read into it differently. This early into the game, who were like your top picks? For traders? Yeah, for the traders. Yeah. Ooh, I think actually I had written down for Yeah, so for day one I'd written down Whitney, Jane, Andrew, Mike, and T.

16 So I was kind of right. There you go. Yeah. We know that. Yeah. When did you feel like maybe you could start to really pull the trigger? Did you feel like you could go hard on anyone or did you feel like you just needed to keep it back a little bit? Yeah, a bit more evidence. Like I just I didn't want to be wrong and I didn't want to be like the first one to be like, "It's this person." Cuz you know how like T came in so hard off the bat and was just like, "It's Jane. It's Jane." And we're all like, "Whoa, like this is really intense. Like chill." kind of thing. but of course he was right. the way he just went about it. Like that's what raised the red flags for me. And I think T was my first vote at that round table because I was just like the like you hadn't spoken to me at all and then all of a sudden you're throwing Jane's name in there. and like you're coming up to me and being like, "It's Jane." And I'm like, "I don't even know your last name.

10 Like can we establish that connection first and then kind of talk about it?" So that was kind of what raised the red flags for me, but you know, it was just that T was just very enthusiastic about it, I guess. And yeah, I think like that was probably the first person that I was like, "Okay, this person is a trader." And I was wrong, but that's okay. Yeah, and straight after this event, you know, with the gravediggers twist where Noll, Andrew, and Bree are gone for the own day, literally digging their own graves. What was your thoughts on those three players at the time? Did you think any one of them could be a trader? I thought Noll was a trader, but not because he was sent to grave digging. it was because at my Jackie and me vote situation the split. Noll had just like switched on me so fast and I thought that we had like a pretty good relationship up to that point. And so all of a sudden he's like, "Yeah.

01 Yeah, Molly, are you a trader? No, you're a trader." And I'm like, "What? No, I'm not. Like what are you Like I thought that we had a good rapport going and then all of a sudden he switched it on me." And so I was already gunning him for that. and then of course when he got sent to like dig the graves and everything, I was just like, "Oh, yeah, he's definitely a trader." So I was like pretty sure. Andrew and Bree, I knew that they were like I was sitting I was thinking I was beside Andrew and then Bree was on the other side of Andrew at breakfast that morning when Paul announced it. And when he announced Bree's name, I like reached out instinctively and just like put my hand on her back cuz she was just like you could tell she was scared and I could feel she was like physically shaking. and so yeah, I could obviously that's not a normal reaction. And so I was like, "Okay, she's obviously a faithful. She's scared for her life. Like that's that, right?" So yeah, I think the only one was probably just Noll. Yeah, well we do see quite literally from this point onward you and Noll are always butting heads, always going up against each other.

57 At any point was you guys' relationship going to be repaired or did you guys just both believe that We just one of you were a trader? I don't literally I don't know what started it. Like I know what started it for me was the round table, but I don't know what started it for him. And we've talked about it afterwards like after the show. And I'm like, "Why were we getting so hard for each other when clearly we were both faithfuls?" And I don't know. We just like have this like rivalry I can't say that word. yeah, but I don't know. Like it was just we were just so set on each other from like that moment on that like I, you know, if there was anybody that I was unsure about voting for, then I was like, "Well, Noll's always an option because he's a trader." Which obviously he wasn't, but Yeah. Yeah, well we do see, you know, Andrew gets banished, Bree gets murdered, and so Noll is still lying around.

49 How often did you try to keep pushing his name for the banishment? I think every conversation when somebody came up to me and they're like, "Ooh, like what are you thinking?" And I was like, "Oh, Noll." And so they definitely were like, "Okay, let's stop asking Molly cuz she's going to say Noll." but like I think like everyone kind of knew that I was going for him. But everyone I knew that he was going for me, too. Like everybody it wasn't like a secret kind of thing. And so I think it just kind of the way that the timing worked out. Like when I got banished, I think that like that was his time hit for like trying to prove that he was right kind of thing. And obviously he wasn't, but yeah. Well, we do see like after, you know, the Andrew and Bree getting murdered and banished, Mike comes up to you with a plan to take out Whitney. And as you mentioned earlier, you thought Mike was a trader. What was your relationship like with Mike at the time?

40 Yeah, so Mike was like he was a really quiet guy. And so like from the very beginning cuz he was in the car with me and Jackie when we were driving up. And so I kind of like got a bit more comfortable with him just cuz I had that initial relationship with him, I guess. And so, as we kind of like progressed throughout the game, we didn't really like chat a whole lot. Like I obviously you know, I we'd be friendly with each other, but he wasn't somebody that I was confiding in like, you know, Ben or Bree or somebody. and so, when he approached me and was like, "We need to get out Whitney." I saw it in the way where he was approaching me because I was there for that challenge, not in the way where like he was like chatting strategy with me because he had never done that before. And so, that was kind of like what was not like red flag, but like it kind of like popped up for me where I was like, you know, this is the first time he's come to me and like yeah, I was there for the challenge, but also like why is he going so hard for her? and I remember thinking like when they were like at a round table together and like fighting, I just remember watching it and being like, "There's something else here." Like I could see that there was something and I remember talking to Ben afterwards and being like, "I think there's something going on there.

43 Like I think that was a double cross." And he was like, "I felt that too. Like I saw that." So, you know, that was something that I was grateful that he wasn't the only one seeing, but Mike like just looking at my day one notes here, like these he was on my list from the beginning as well. So, yeah, I think I was careful around him. Yeah, and after the rose ceremony, were you quite close with Whitney? I really liked Whitney. She was really sweet. I don't think that I like talked to her as much as I like talked to Bree, but like I felt like we had a pretty good connection. and so, yeah, she was someone that I was sad to see go. Like obviously she was a traitor. I'm grateful to get out of a traitor, but as like a person, I was like, "Oh, that sucks that she's leaving." Yeah. And you know, after the Whitney banishment, I'm so mad at everyone for this, but you guys poorly voted out Steven. I know. Oh my god, poor Steven. What Why did you Why did you vote out Steve, Molly?

35 Do you want to know why? It's Steven. This is so bad looking back on it. It's because we literally he had been So, the day before he had eaten like the gross stuff in that challenge, right? Like he was part of the group that had to eat the intestines. And so, that morning at breakfast, like the day after the gross challenge, he had been like saying that he was kind of feeling ill and just like not feeling great. And so, we were all kind of like side-eyed being like, "Ooh, like is he ill because he's stressed? Like was he recruited? Like and then he had like made some comment about, you know, like where someone says like, "Oh, like we go do this." Or like we as in the traders. Like it was it was just like a slip-up of just a word. And so, it was like extra suspicion on him. And then at the challenge, he that yeah, that was the challenge where he like took a second to think about what he wanted to do with the group.

31 And so, I think that just like cemented it for everybody. And so, the whole Yeah, the whole reason we voted him out was because he was he was acting differently. come to find out he actually had COVID and he ended up getting really sick when he went home. And so, that's why like he was genuinely sick. And we had all voted HIM OUT AND HE HAD COVID. I'M SORRY. SO BAD. SO, STEVEN, if you're WATCHING THIS, I'M SORRY. WELL, at least I can say, you know, you're looking after the health and safety of the group, right? You don't want anyone else to get COVID, right? Well, speaking of that challenge, you guys were all tied up. Like how tight were those ropes and stuff on the poles? They were Oh my gosh. They were quite tight and this field just flying spiders.

21 Flying spiders, didn't know New Zealand have flying spiders? You do because they were flying all over my face. AND IT WAS AWFUL. SO, I HATED that challenge so much. And so, when I can't remember who was coming around with the knife, but whoever that was, I was just like pleading with them with my eyes being like, "Please cut me out. Like I need to get off. I need to get out of this. Like I need to get away." Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. Were there like any other missions that you found like quite hard? I mean, here's the thing. After watching season one, I was like, "All these challenges are going to be fine. Like they're easy." You know, whatever. Mm-mm. I was wrong. They clearly like bumped it up this season because these challenges were not at all they were all like all of them had an element of being like, "Ooh, I don't want to do this." You're like halfway through it and you're like, "No, I want to go home.

12 Like I'm over it." But I think like the one with the church, when we were all standing outside, that one wasn't hard, but it was just it was so cold and like I was not dressed appropriately for the weather. And so, I was like freezing. Like Whitney was there and she was like giving me her jacket every time that we cut so that she could like wrap me up cuz I was just like literally an ice cube. and so, that was probably one of my least favorite only because I was so cold. and then of course like climbing the mountain with 25 kilos on your back is not super fun. but that's it. What was like your favorite mission? If there's one mission you can be like, "Yes, I love this so much." What mission would that be? That's a very good question. I'm just trying to think of all the missions that we had.

03 As much as I didn't like getting dirty, I actually kind of liked the first mission where we were like crawling underneath the barbed wire and trying to like guess the questions at the very beginning. Like that was kind of fun. You kind of felt like you were a kid at summer camp and you were just like playing in the mud on kind of vibe. So, that was probably a favorite for sure. and then I don't What other challenges do we have? there's that ghost one as well. Like where you got to talk to the spirits of all the players. that was That was difficult because you thought that like for example like Bree was one of the options and I was like, "Oh yeah, I got this in the bag." And a lot of her answers were stuff that I was like, "No, I don't really think that she thought that." But of course you're thinking like at the time at the time of their death, like that's what they're thinking.

54 And so, yeah, that one was a lot more difficult than I thought it would be. Yeah. Did it further cement in your mind that Noel was a traitor when I think Bruce Christian was, "Who do not trust?" And Bree was like, "Noel." I know. I was like, "Well, if Bree's thinking so, then yeah, obviously Noel's a traitor." As I've said for the 50th billion time. Well, we did say that Well, I'd say that Mike, he gets banished and then shortly after, you know, Yu Tsai gets murdered. What was your relationship like with Yu Tsai? Mhm. Yeah, so Yu Tsai and I feel like we didn't get like close until like later on in the game. like he was again someone like Bree in the sense where I was like a little intimidated cuz I was just like, "Wow, you're very like confident and just like you're just like a really cool dude and I just I'm intimidated by that." And so, yeah, I feel like it wasn't until like the breakfast where he showed me the note that Mark had written.

54 And then of course like watching it back and seeing that he did that just to kind of like test my alliance. and like with Ben and everything to see if I was going to like spread that around. I was like, "Okay, maybe that was just a ploy, but I thought we were, you know, becoming friends, but that's okay." so, I think like at that point then we started to kind of like chat more and just having him every day like seeing him every day at breakfast and just like having it having him there throughout the challenges and stuff, like he was so someone that was like so much energy and so such positive energy that like it was honestly such a big blow to have him go because it was like the mood shifted when he wasn't there. Yeah. And we do see, you know, like Kat is going off at, you know, Cely and stuff like that for the whole blackmail conversation. Were you like more on Kat's side or Cely's side as a whole conversation was going down?

48 I was definitely on Kat's side only because I was sure that Cely was a traitor. I just didn't have any I didn't have enough to back it up and I didn't have the numbers. So, I was I had Kat obviously, but I yeah, I think I just didn't have enough. And so, I definitely was with Kat. I like if she said that the blackmail situation like the conversation had happened, like there was no reason that she would lie. Like she was somebody that was like very open and very like honest. And as we saw like she spoke her mind, which is fantastic. And so, I think like there was no reason that she would make something like that up. Yeah, and you mentioned as well you were quite close with Donna. What was your relationship like with Bailey? Mhm. Bailey was somebody she was she was quite quiet as well. And so, I think that she found like her people. And so, she was able to open up with her people, and Donna being one of them.

38 And she was like super friendly. I just feel like we didn't ever like get that like super close connection type thing. so, yeah, it was she was somebody that kind of I had kind of suspected a little bit. but again, it was more like she was really far down the list versus somebody, you know, that like was farther up kind of thing like Cely for example. Mhm. Yeah, and one last player before we sadly move on to your banishment, but Mark. We've got to talk about the great Mark, probably the biggest legend, you know, from the season. What was your relationship like with Mark throughout the game? Mark was kind of like a love-hate relationship because as a guy, he was really cool. I REALLY ENJOYED JUST like lis- like talking with him and like learning about like his world of like D&D and, you know, that kind of stuff. Like I have a lot of friends back home that are very similar to Mark in that sense, I would say.

32 And so, as like a guy, he was cool. as a player, he made me want to rip my hair out because it was just like he was playing it so Let's just say differently than what I was playing it. And so, some of his decisions that he was making, I was just like, "Why would you do that?" Like, you can't You know, that's not being a good team player, and you know, that kind of thing. But, I genuinely, like looking back now, it was like for the first few days, I was definitely suspicious that he was a traitor, but I was like, "If you have made it this far, and like you were a traitor, like there's like you are just so suspicious that you were just doing a really bad job. There is no way that you're a traitor." Kind of thing. Especially if somebody like him who is who plays like D&D and is a game master and stuff, like there's no way that his strategy is like that bad kind of thing, right? So, yeah, I was I was definitely sad to see him go, but just like seeing how he did it, I definitely applaud him for that.

23 That's for sure. Yeah. Did you think he was a traitor at all, or did you just think he was just a faithful? I thought that he was a traitor for probably like maybe the first like, I don't know, maybe 4 days, I'd say. And then from like day four onwards, I was kind of just like, "Nah, he's just he's just Mark." Yeah. Would you have voted him out at any point, or would you have like actually tried to keep him in the game? I That was the thing, because it was all I felt I was he was somebody like No, where I was surprised that he lasted as long as he did, because he pissed everyone off at some point, and everyone was like, "Oh, you're a traitor." But then, if you're not a traitor, you're a bad faithful. Like, you got to go. You got to go, right? And so, the fact that he lasted as long as he did, like I think if, you know, in the morning we'd wake up, and we're like, "Oh, you know, Mark really pissed us off last night.

15 We're going to vote him out tonight." kind of thing. But, by that round table, someone else had come up, and so then he would kind of almost be like the backup option. So, you see like there's a few votes for him like through like random people, like one or two votes at some round tables, it's because like he was always kind of the backup kind of thing, cuz we're just like, "Well, not 100% sure that he is a faithful." so, I think that's probably what it was. Yeah. And, you know, coming up to your banishment, what went wrong, Molly? I was like, "You're doing what? Molly's doing up pretty good. She's got Ben. As you said, you're close with Donna. People still don't like No. You've got this captaincy alley thing going on." Like, what went wrong? That is a very good question. I think one thing that kind of didn't work for in my Yeah.

05 Let's I'll rephrase that. Sorry. I think like one big thing was just that like Jace had been on me for a few days. He like he had come up to me probably like two or three days before, and was like, "Hey, I have a theory. Hear me out." And like in his theory, he named me as one of the OG traders, or maybe I was one of the recruitments from like the early days. I can't remember what it was, but he was like, "I think you're a traitor. I'm just laying out all the possibilities. I just want to let you know before we get in there." And I was like, "All right, that's fine. Thanks for letting me know." kind of thing. So, he brings it up at that round table. Obviously, no one votes for me. Like, it was fine. and then like he's very like still stuck on this. And so, I think that like because he was so close with Cia Ali, I think that like Cia Ali probably influenced him, because obviously Cia Ali was a traitor. and he probably was just like trying to pull these focus off of him and put it onto me. And so, I like looking back at my banishment, like the votes were Bailey and Cia Ali, which obviously they're traitors.

57 So, obviously they want to pull the attention off them, right? So, fair enough. And then Jace, because he was, you know, on me for a few days, and then with his relationship with Cia Ali. And of course, No, because it's No, and you he was, you know, No. Yeah. Yeah, well, something we've discussed about, you know, before we went live, when I saw that No was the last person to share his vote, I was like, "I'm done. I don't want to watch. I know where this is going. I know. Yeah, it was the way that they had made it was that like the last person I figured this out like pretty early on. Like, the last person to read their vote is the one whoever that person is voting for is the one that's getting banished. and so, when I saw that it was going to be No, as soon as they started going around the table, I was just like preparing my speech, cuz I was just like, "You know what? This is it." I had accepted it, and I was like, "This was fun." Like, reminiscing as everyone's like, "Yeah, you know, like really trying to figure it out." I'm like, "I'm over it.

54 Like, I'm done." Like Yeah. Did you see this banishment coming, or was it still like a bit of a surprise to you? No, it was a surprise, because we I can't even remember. I think we went in there trying to get Cia Ali out, and somehow it ended up with me out. And I was like, "What are we doing?" Oh, and then Joe just voted for himself. That's what it was. Yeah. Yeah, that was the whole thing. But, I was I did the math like later on, but I was like, "Even if Joe hadn't voted for himself, he was going to vote with his people, which would have been for me anyway, because Cia Ali would have convinced him that it was me." So, even if he hadn't, I would still would have been gone. So, yeah, it was just like something that I hadn't seen coming at all, but it was just kind of like, "All right, this is I've done what I can." You know, like I don't have any other defense to tell you other than like I have done nothing wrong. So, looking back, I definitely wish that I'd gone in there and was just like, "Give me Show me the evidence.

48 Like, show me where you think that I'm a traitor. Like, give me something that I can defend myself." Because like you just being like, "Oh, you're just really calm, cool, and collected. You must be a traitor." Like, that's not something to vote someone out on, in my opinion. So, Yeah. And I think one of the arguments was, "You haven't had to defend yourself, so defend yourself." Which again, what are you supposed to say? Really, yeah. Right? I don't know. Like, how are you Again, like I haven't done anything wrong. Like, I haven't been I haven't said something weird. I haven't been acting strangely. Like, I've been consistent from day one. So, you know, what is it? Like It was just It was quite strange, and I just I didn't really understand. And then it was kind of nice to see everybody's reactions like when I walked out, and everyone was just like so like devastated that obviously they had it wrong, but that I was gone as well. Like, Ben had he was telling me afterwards that like he like ran out of the room, and was like crying, and didn't want production to see him kind of thing, because he just didn't want to like be seen as like that vulnerable kind of thing.

47 And I was just like, "Oh, man." And then of course, Donna's crying, and I'm just like, "Oh." Like, it's just it's really emotional, right? Yeah. Can you speak more to the moment of when you get on that the circle of truth, and you say your speech, and you see everyone just sort of walks out. Do you hear Do you hear much of the reaction from the room as you're leaving? I heard I just as I was like turning around, I saw Cat like stand up and like clap, and she I can't remember she said she was like, "Good job, Molly." Or like, "We'll see you later." I don't know what she said, but it was like some sort of encouragement. so, I heard that. And then everyone was like shouting goodbye at me. and just like trying to get that last like minute, which I thought was really sweet, because like when other people were banished, it was it was kind of silent. LIKE, NOT LIKE SILENT, but it was just kind of like, "Oh, man, like we missed out." But like with everyone with me, THEY'RE LIKE, "BYE.

42 LIKE, SEE you later." And so, it was it was kind of nice. And does that continue on like that you see these initial reactions on the edit? Does that sort of as you're walking out, do you do they keep yelling out at you to just communicate with you as you go? Oh, that's Yeah. Exactly. So, but of course, like the walk like out of the room, and then once you're like taken out completely, then like it's a very small area between like you walking from the round table like to the door kind of thing. So, once that door was closed, like that was it. Yeah. And then you're going. You don't have an opportunity to have any more communication. That was the hardest part, because like it honestly was like an experience in the sense where like it felt like you knew these people from high school. Like, it was like you'd only been with them for eight, nine days or whatever, but like it genuinely like you were so excited to see them for breakfast, because you're like, "Oh, nice.

33 My friends are here." And so, it was just like very like genuine connection that you're making with these people. And so, like when you go from genuine connection to just having it being like ripped away, like that's why it's so hard to adjust back to reality, because it's just like how can you can't talk to your friends back home, or like your partner, or your parents just being You can't explain what you've just gone through, because like no one's going to understand it, unless you were physically living it like with these other people. But of course, you can't talk to them until like they're out and everything, right? So, yeah, it's it was all very hard in that sense. Yeah. I mean, we did say that the next night Ben gets recruited as a traitor. And let's say hypothetically, if Ben survives that vote, he takes out Cia Ali. Mhm. And then if Ben would if Ben would recruit you as a traitor, or was recruitment all done?

25 Actually, no. I think that Ben was the last person. I think I don't think that there was any more recruitment allowed afterwards. I could be wrong, but I think so. But, if that had happened earlier in the game, I don't know Ben would have recruited me. I know that early on, I said to him when we were getting like really close, I was like, "Look, if you ever get recruited, just like keep me in the game. We can get to the very end. Screw me over at the very end. I don't care." You know, I just I just want to like be in this, you know what I mean? So, yeah, but you know, like he was obviously recruited at the very end, and that was that. So, Yeah. And what did you think of Bailey's great win? Oh my gosh. That was incredible. She played an excellent game, because I feel like when like for the first half of the game, she was very quiet, like I said, very reserved. and so, I feel like she was flying very under the radar, which is what I was trying to do, but she did a much better job than I did.

19 And so, she I think that's obviously why she got recruited, because like she was, you know, she was consistent. She was just kind of there, but she wasn't like causing a whole lot of attention. And so, the way that she pulled it off at the very end was just fantastic. It broke my heart to see Donna crying. Like, she it yeah, that hurt to watch, but yeah, I'm grateful that Bailey won. and yeah, it's definitely well deserved. Is Ben and Donna the two people you wanted to go to the end with the most? Yeah. Yeah, it was definitely them and Kat, I would say. I wanted the like the four of us, I'd say, at the very end. just cuz yeah, I felt like they were just like my people and yeah, I wasn't too worried about anything else as long as I had them. Ironically, the only people who did not vote for you at your banishment were the ones that So, Well, I guess now that your traitor is over and stuff like that, you know, we're not too sure about like a season 3.

18 What is your advice for I guess like new players who are like applying for the show or who want to be on the show? I would say just to do it. it was something that was like totally I honestly just applied cuz I thought it was funny to like have say that I applied for a reality TV show. And then when they obviously cast me, I was just like this is insane. This is like nothing I've ever even like thought of doing in my life. But it was like probably like one of the most fun experiences I've ever had. So, I would say I'd tell everyone to apply. Like honestly, just apply. and you know, you never know what could happen. I figured because I was Canadian that they weren't going to want me for a New Zealand show, but obviously they did. and I would say just go in and like it just be you. Like it's so much easier to play the game if you aren't hiding anything and you're just like being yourself. And like I feel like you enjoy it a lot more. And I know that Noel, like one of his defenses about me being a traitor was because like I was too like cool, calm, and collected.

13 I'm always smiling and happy, hehe, which obviously I wasn't that all the time. He just never saw me when I was upset. it was like that was That was just me because I was like this is so fun. Like yes, I'm fighting for my life. However, I'm having a good time doing it. Kind of thing, right? So, yeah, I think like that was probably my biggest piece of advice would just like be yourself. Be authentic and just like go there. Remember it's a game because it will suck you in and it'll feel like real life. but it is just a game. and yeah, you'll have so much fun. Yeah, and what's next on the agenda for the great Molly? Are you going to be doing any other reality shows or Oh my gosh, everyone keeps asking me that. I would say I definitely want to apply for other things. I wanted to like I went to Canada a few weeks ago, so I just wanted to get that vacation out of the way and then like get myself kind of resettled back into post-vacation life again.

08 And so yeah, I will probably be applying for an agency cuz I don't have anything representing me down here. I want in Canada, but not here. So, yeah, probably do that. And then I want to I was talking to Bree about applying for Celebrity Treasure Islands because I'm like do we technically count because we made it this far in Traitors? Like I DON'T KNOW. SO, WE'LL SEE. THE WORST THEY CAN SAY IS NO, RIGHT? YEAH. If you and Bree make it onto Celebrity Treasure Island, I will discuss with our manager of the channel and we will cover that season. All right? I thought it would be That would be so cool. All right, that sounds good. I'll see what I can do. BUT YEAH, I THINK THAT'S PROBABLY I'm just kind of open to any opportunity at this point. I think like the hardest part is like if I want to get into like more like commercials or like acting or like anything reality TV, like I have to go to like Queenstown or Christchurch.

03 And like being in Dunedin, I'm just like I don't I like obviously I drive, but I don't have a car. Like me and my wife and I just have the one car. So, if he's at work, then I'm going to have to like bus to like Christchurch or Queenstown. So, or get a car. So, it's kind of like do I really want to bite the bullet if I'm only, you know, just doing whatever, right? So, yeah, I think it depends, but I definitely would be keen cuz I just I love that world, right? Like it's so much fun. Yeah, and before we wrap things up, Vee, have you got any like questions or anything you want to say to Molly before we wrap it up? Yeah, well, Molly, you played such a vulnerable game with authentic relationships, which is not something we often see in these shows, people being their authentic selves and being vulnerable. You mentioned that in that last round table you wished you had maybe asked them to lay down some more concrete evidence that you could defend yourself from.

58 Is there anything else you think maybe could have gotten you a few more episodes further? You got it pretty far, but anything else that you think you could have done to get you across that line? That's a very good question. I think maybe just trying harder with Jace to convince him that I wasn't a traitor. Like maybe if I worked on that a little bit more, then that might have been something. But like Jace was somebody that like, you know, once his mind is on something, like he just follows through with it. And so I think that probably would have been my only thing because otherwise like, you know, Noel was Noel and the other two were traitors. So, fair enough. And yeah, I think better defense would have just been my only thing that I probably could have done better because otherwise like I literally played the best that I could up to that point. Like my goal was to make it like halfway. Or no, that's a lie. My goal was to make it past the first day cuz I was like I cannot come back to my family.

51 Like they're just going to laugh me out of the planet. Like I can't. Like I have to get past the first day. but yeah, once I did that, I wanted to get more than halfway. And so I made it like 75% of the way. And obviously I was like, you know what, this was a great opportunity. And like the fact that I made it as far as I did, like works for me. So, yeah. Yeah, well, Molly, thank you so much for coming onto this podcast. As I mentioned earlier, every single week I was like, hey guys, Molly's going to win. She's in all these conversations. Everyone keeps bringing her up. You know, I thought every week. So, guys, it's Molly. It's Molly. And you got voted out. I think it was it like a week before I met Shon Beti B? Or was it the week after? Something like that. It was just a bad day for you all over. was. It really was. I was an emotional wreck. And But Molly, you're so lovely. You're so kind.
