1:34 Very early on like there's a lot of potential put Falls for you and that team wow it is going about as badly as it possibly could for my team I we'll get there we'll get there when we get there oh we're going there right now yeah I just need to bring it up for people who are not aware of what we're talking about we do a draft here on the channel before the season starts we always have very limited information and it's hard to judge who's going to do well and who's not going to do well but Jake had in his team from left to ride Jake you know who's in trouble already Hannah who just quit the show Brandon who also almost quit the show and Emily that's absolutely tanking her game early on in the season so at the moment it's looking like his hope is on Jay and on breno it's a rough start Jake oh man if my shining lights are Jay and brand Brando that's bad news not saying anything bad about those two but oh man yeah Den say you screw Jake I just was I was so shocked we'll get into it about Jake specifically I was like this dude's gonna be good yeah he's yeah he's already in

2:54 Trouble man yeah who could have predicted catura right and she would bring yeah I just I had a podcast a pre-recorded podcast with Kean from survivors of Africa last night which is going to drop probably Tuesday Wednesday talking about the season and survivors of Africa in general and the safe survivors of Africa campaign that we've got going and she had some really interesting takes on it as well so look out for that later on in the week when that comes out and we spoke a little bit about just how when you get out there it's hard to go into the Survivor game a plan because you cannot predict the personalities you're going to play with and they can absolutely screw up your game so like Jake may have been on another season on another tribe may have been okay right you're in the start but with coutura with these girls that they're targeting for being a lawyer and like who cares if you're a lawyer it's the dumbest thing I still laugh these days when I look at the screen and people are like talking I can't be telling people I'm a lawyer like do you know lawyers in real life there some of the most boring people that you could know they're so they always got their heads in the books you know they're not that entertaining they're not in my opinion that strategic they may be smart but smarts alone's not going to let you win the game and lawyers historically they' not done well on Survivor so they followed the rules yeah I yeah when

5:35 My previous job was working in regulatory technology and it is so heavily regulated by law that I had to deal with lawyers all the time the average lawyer that you get they're not that entertaining they're not that charismatic so I don't understand but it's clearly there it's the smarts or something and lawyers think that other lawyers are threats for some other reason on the show because Cura I guess yeah what did you like let's talk about the opening scenes what did you like about the opening scenes because for me personally it was actually quite refreshing seeing the marooning on the boat again for a change like seeing them all be on the boat having to jump overboard kind of reminded you of like old school survivor where every time they were on the boat they had to jump out get all the supplies swim to shore for me it was pretty cool seeing that challenge and it did bring back some memories yeah I always like when they started on the boat instead of just on the beach already yeah I led it but I feel like that's where the similarity sort of ended because as they got there Jeff goes into his normal salesman Spiel talking about you know the concept of the show is still the same virtually nothing in the show has changed and as he's saying it I'm envisioning Rudy standing up there balling his eyes out in season one when he got to play the game and I thought to myself yes nothing has

6:55 Changed everything is still the same because the moment was too big for Brandon just like it was for Rudy all those years ago when he was playing the game yeah man oh man I mean listen I get it like as somebody who's been a fan for a really long time too like that's got to be really emotional like not just stress wise but just like excitement wise you know like you've been dreaming of doing this for years and years and it's finally here and in your head you're thinking I better not screw up because not everybody's like Bruce and gets to have a second chance so no very few people get a second chance and luckily Bruce does get that second chance and for me looking at him crying I was like okay I can still forgive this because I knew the backstory with Brandon I knew that he has been a fan his whole life he's hung out with survivors outside of the game have had photos taken with them and I was like I can forgive this the guy goes into the challenge has a very bad performance again I can forgive this Chris dy I brought it up in the top five takes had not the best performance in his very first challenge when he played Survivor still became a legendary player in my mind so there's still hope for Brandon out there but the amount of anxiety that he had within this episode to the point where he had the chest pains him and Hannah kind of working on each other

8:15 Like they're not a good combination together I don't know how they put them both on the same tribe I was wondering like how did these guys get past the sight test to get on the show to begin with has have casting just loosened up too much now when it comes to Casting people on the show you know I can't answer that because I don't know what's going on but yeah because you haven't been casted yet like Jake on the call Jake wouldn't be there Jake wouldn't want to quit on day one right Jake hell no are you kidding me like listen I for those that don't know like I have some anxiety you know but if it's something like freaking Survivor are you kidding me that I will I don't care how anxious I am I'm sticking through it like there's no way I'm giving up on that type of experience and to answer your question you know I feel like they've had anxious people in the past I mean we saw Aubrey Bronco and her first season Kong she had a panic attack day one I think you know she was saying like oh I'm dehydrated and her Triant were like Noah you're just having a panic attack like you don't even have chapped lips right now you know so we've seen people come back from this type of thing and we've seen anxious people on the show but I

9:35 Think it just looks worse because we had two really anxious people one to the point where they had to quit on the same tribe you know so we'll just we're just gonna have to wait and see but yeah obviously if you know Brandon quits later on then yeah something's got to change yeah I saw and I'll put it out there Eliza for me has got some extreme takes sometimes and I don't always like her takes that she's got online but I found myself kind of agreeing with her take this week when she did a small video on Tik Tok she talked about the casting process and how hard it was for her to get on the show back in the day because she was 22 she was still in college a lot of people thought she would quit the game and how they pretty much ingrained it into her brain like you cannot quit if you're on the show like you know and it seemed like there was a lot of extra steps that they went through back in the day and I it's hard to compare CU she hasn't played in the new era but do know that it's a new casting team so I thought I would bring that out there I know a lot of people have been going after hand we'll probably talk about this a little bit later on but I also feel like production should take a little bit of the blame here as well for the process of getting people onto the show Let's say hello to a few more people Ness our Ness back into the live we haven't seen you in a while ar unes welcome back they say hey Chris and Jake have look forward to hearing your take on the premiere sit back and relax we're going to be going through all of the action

16:15 Being on the beach he doesn't remember being on the tribe that he was on the only thing he remembers is being on the mat and then getting into the challenge and the rest is blank cuz he had the concussion and lost a lot of his recollection of his time on the show so he's got zero experience in the game he's a new player effectively yeah I understand I think what she actually meant actually I could be wrong this is just what I took from it so we know that the process of getting out there is you're stuck in quarantine for like two weeks where you can't talk to each other when they like set up all the stuff and do their little cast interviews and like that's hard for a lot of people just to for like two weeks straight just not talk to anybody just be looking around you can't you know you can't have your phone you can't be on social media and so maybe she met he was mentally prepared like he had already gone through that process and so but even then like who cares you know like why are you bringing that up if that's the case in terms of the game in terms of being a threat to win there's no prior experience there yeah Georgette says we need a good villain I don't know if she's going to be a good villain

17:36 She's definitely one thing she's definitely going to do and this is what Nunes is here saying is that I hope Emily survives until at least the merge to keep things entertaining I'm being so hard on her here but she's going to annoy me she's going to really annoy me and that's going to like keep me from like I'm going to continue to tune in and I'm talking about her personality in the game I've Got a Feeling with Emily though she is who you get like I don't think she's putting it on for the show Ash is saying I think producers were amping them up to be extra sassy I feel like Emily is just authentically herself and that is just she is so take her or leave her some people may be ramp or amping up their personalities a little bit but I feel like this is Emily really you know I think when I read the article on Cinema Blend where she was talking about gaer and like how he won and that annoyed her enough to sign up I knew she was going to struggle at that point because people who hate on don't fully get the social game they don't understand the subtleties and how he played his game so if you're calling out a champion like I said in the top five takes you better bring it you better be better than the person that you're calling out so far it's not there and listen I'm also throwing my head in the Gin if she's GNA go and win this season I will eat Humble Pie I will eat Humble Pie be like I know nothing about Survivor clearly I shouldn't be spouting my nonsense man I

28:17 Sweat and Savvy for what is this the fourth season in a row yeah so yeah swed and sevy is continuing to be there but they bring a little bit of a twist into this did this make you like swe and Savvy a little bit more are you completely just over this twist now I could do with or without honestly but I this so far has been my favorite iteration of it where at least one of the tribes is going back with nothing because before it seemed like yeah whatever they're going to lose the initial challenge but they're just going to win it back at the beach because before this yeah like they mentioned in the episode first tribes to not win sweater savvy so I like seeing the humiliation on them and also it leads to some drama at the at the yellow tribe too that we'll get to yeah Danica that's what we've got you in the live so you guys can let us know what your thoughts are that's why we include you as much as we can in the chat as well I'm with Asher on this Kahuna I'm done with SED and Savvy and you know when the final nail was in the coffin for me with sweat and Savvy was when they went to the immunity Challenge and at the immunity challenge Jeff told them you know how you guys didn't win in sweat and savy we're just going to give you the supplies in any case right so the only thing that we'll do if you lose is we'll take your Flint

29:37 But you'll get your supplies so in my mind I was like what was the point Jake what was the point so did they give them they only gave it to them if they won the immunity challenge right no they gave both tribes the supplies and said the only thing that we will take from you if you lose is your Flint that you will not keep so what was the point of swear to sa you why did we go through that's my is my thing man I didn't catch that I thought it was just the only if you won the challenge that's pretty lame yeah not a fan of that surviv now says this was a clear attempt from production to ensure that there would be someone that lost yeah and I think that if you had to look at what did it bring to the show in that moment they wanted to create drama which they did because Emily fell for debate back at camp immedi man I feel so bad I'm conly just going on what I'm but listen if she turns it around and she like becomes a mastermind next episode I'm behind her I'm like Emily I never doubted you were clearly always going to be the best player of the season but she goes into this before she even like she doesn't even know these people's Nam names properly she doesn't know where they're from nothing about that it's just like straight to strategy so clearly those two people that just left they have got an advantage if they come back with nothing immediately into game mode before she even talks to them about like

30:57 Who are they what do they do for a living like no rapports being built here straight to go yeah and that has shown on Survivor it's not the best approach because how many times do we get to the end where we here even if she used to get to that the end we here like you know you didn't care about me or you didn't want to know about my story you didn't want to know anything about me you just came out firing all guns blazing and you know as far as Survivor goes which is you know a mix of all things strategy yes but social is just as important if not more sometimes and she's ignoring other aspects of the game rather than just straight up strategy and I mean I don't even know the strategy is that great especially like firing at Bruce immediately on the boat like we see that come back with it's just building a reputation or solidifying a personality trait in the in the tribe that she doesn't necessarily want to have people call calling a Negative Nancy and stuff like that because it's immediate and it's nonstop so I saw one of the comments before said that the interaction on the boat with Bruce actually went a lot longer than we saw as well so yeah so Survivor now says Whoa Chris you're heading on Emily this is a villain we've all been waiting for and I'm going to like really are

32:17 We lowering our standards to this level that she now counts as a great villain because we've been deprived of a villain for so long like my idea of a villain is like a Tyson Apostle or a Russell Hans a Boston Rob someone that is smart and clever in the game and has villainous Tendencies not someone that overplays or socially just isn't there like I guess you could say Philip sheeper to a degree was like that back in the day would have annoyed a lot of people I kind of enjoyed Philip sheeper a bit more I was never a Cass fan so maybe that explains it because she does remind me of Cass a bit but she's like I would say Cass a superior as a villain to her because Cass actually had some game it's very early on we can still see but are we lowering the standard Jake to this now like was so desperate for a villain that Emily now is like making people excited I wouldn't say that so far I mean I wouldn't agree that she would be a great villain but like I think she's in the right area of a villain in my opin like you said she's like Cass like where Cass at times her social awareness and it was just not there it was pretty she was pretty inep when it when it came to that sometimes and I

33:37 Feel like Emily can kind of be the same way but she can just be like just tell how it is how she how she feels and some you know sometimes it's just fun to have somebody that's not very good at the game and just kind of watch them you know they're just being themselves and it's just not very good you know what I mean aser coming in with the 300 I don't even know what currency that is but I'm so grateful for it thank you so much it'll go straight back into the podcast and aser says George shy are great villains use could learn so much from Au I agree like there's fun villains in Australian Survivor Now podcast does say very well said I think we're all just so deprived that it's a breath of fresh air to have someone that's controversial because in most of these seasons and I will give Survivor now that like everybody seems so likable so it is actually good to have someone that's a bit controversial on the show and it's we have been crying out for it and again I'm sure Emily outside of the game is nice I'm talking about what I'm seeing in the game I'm talking about how she's playing the game it's all based on the game obviously she brings a little bit of herself within the game which I'm it's puzzling me a little bit but you know it's interesting and then there's a few great comments that have come in so I just want to go back and read a couple of them as well We've got ARA saying hot take
