4:13 Mean I guess we'll just get into it the whole you know naming songs back and forth the Metallica and Taylor Swift songs like that's something that they would not normally put in you know if they were strapped for time but I feel like they did and it went on pretty long I was perfectly okay with it I thought it was entertaining but it felt like that you know it's just because Amazing Race isn't going to start for another re another week so they've got a time slot open a scheduling issue forced a 2hour episode and although we as Survivor fans are always like yeah give it to me give me more do you think this is the best use of time like my vibe and what I got I don't know if this is a good analogy or not but I like making weird you know comparisons is you know that old school Vibe of like I've never had this happen to me and I don't know if it's actually happened in real life or it's just one of those Urban lendons that older people like myself hear about Jake that you might not have heard of but it's from a generation like mine where if you ever got busted like smoking and your dad is like oh you want to smoke fine you're going to smoke the whole carton right now

5:33 Yeah like you know they're like you want more Camp life oh really are you sure you want more Camp life okay two hours now shut up it is like here you can get songs we're gonna we're gonna have a song off competition like that's what we're gonna do you want two hours okay like it is it is pretty funny because you know I looked at what people were say saying online and people were of course saying you know because they always have something to complain about and it was why did they why did they show that scene that was so pointless and just went on for so long and it's like these are the same people that yeah like you were saying were like we need to go to longer episodes we need more Camp life we need more you know and it's like well this is what it is like that's what camp life is like I think though right like we got a 2hour episode with one challenge like when I talked about content of Australian Survivor we get three episodes of 90 minutes and you go wow that's a lot to sit through in a week but every episode will except for the non lims every episode we get two challenges we get the full like we get the full gamut of a Survivor episode we just get a lot of it right this was

6:54 Extra long with still only one challenge which went for 20 minutes by the way like that was a non stop 20 minutes that is that's another thing I noticed is that it went a long time that too and I think Jay said in the chat that is that might give a little more context to this is that they filmed 46 not knowing for sure that the episodes were going to be 90 minutes long originally I've heard that it was shot for one hour episodes and then they've they're now editing it out for the longer which think about that would have been really strange that like they just had like you know seasons 1 through 44 are 60 minutes 45 is 90 and then 46 onwards would be 60 that would that would suck so I'm glad that it's that this one is also 90 minutes so we get you know some more a larger sample size I don't know how much it I don't know how much it changes the way you film like aren't the cameramen just out there I would say less as Jay said less twists for sure but obviously there just there probably wouldn't have been that many that many twists this early on anyways that's really the only thing I can think of but yeah as far as like Camp life you know I mean that's always going to be constant

8:14 So one question that I had out of that because I'm are you a big Taylor Swift are you a Swifty I'm a Swifty yeah I'm one of those people like I know I'm GNA come off as sounding like those like weirdos that got all upset about how big Taylor Swift is at the moment but I'm not a Taylor Swift fan but I genuinely and I say this with absolute sincerity I wish I was like I look at someone like Charlie and I look at what I've seen of the erist tour and how big and I'm like I'm missing out on something like I feel like I'm genuinely not in the cool Circle because there are so many people that seem authentically in love with this experience and the community and everything and I'm like I don't know anything in my life that I could name 106 of listing out like movies maybe like just random NBA players for like you know that's shoved in my head over the last 40 years like I couldn't do Survivor players I couldn't do any like there's nothing that I think I could name what did they get to like 10 106 was where ped out and then name players I think I could

9:35 108 Survivor players yeah I think I could all right that's gonna be when we launch 500 or something like that yeah but like unless because you're not with Survivor I think the trick is and I feel like maybe this was happening in their challenge is does Charlie know every single Metallica song that Ben is saying is correct and just Ben know every single song naming like gibberish songs that like when it comes to like naming a 100 Survivor players if you don't do last names you can just go well there was Chris remember that time there was Pete like you're just naming names just I mean it's a person's name it's probably I just like I just like there was Bill there was there was Jeff you know you know him you know so that's what we get like we get we get competitions of who can name things when you have hour of Camp life to get through one very interesting moment was Charlie you know he was like he had a confessional while they were doing it and he was just like I was really worried coming into this that I wasn't that I was going to be like socially

10:55 Awkward and I wasn't going to be able to you know get along with people and he's like but I'm doing a really good job so far and then it immediately cuts to Ben who is like oh I love Charlie he's a little socially awkward but I love him and so it just like completely undermines what Charlie had just said it's like you know people like him I think they trust him but you know I think they still think he's a little he's a little bit of a goof I like the thought process behind I'm a little socially awkward so I'm going to spend the next four hours [Laughter] naming yeah and he also had the jungle gym and had to explain the joke in detail like that was super awkward as well I do like the social awkwardness it's fun so as part of the whole two-hour episode we said you we want Camp life we got Camp life and we get back and forth before the challenge we like the same thing in every episode we get a little bit of back and forth between the camps so we're going to look at I kind of just took the different segments of switching back and forth between the camps and just look at one of them you know as a whole so we talked about Ben and Charlie having the song

13:35 Ben and there's a dynamic and he kind of says look I don't want to be on the bottom of this four if I decide to go with the Charlie Angels and he sets his eyes on Maria who he Compares himself to Denise and Malcolm Maria and him what do you think of like that as far as like calling your shots like you know when you see the preseason interviews and they go yeah I'm basically pvy you know like I'm basically like a combination of parvy Boston Rob Sandra Tony basically just like all of the good parts of all of those guys so when you call back on Survivor you go through like legendary characters and like you see Charlie with his Taylor Swift Antiques and the way he's so far two episodes in you'd say Malcolm and him pretty what do you think so far is he Malcolm well we'll see we'll see he might he might live up to it but I'm still waiting for some more data to look at to Really assess this but I do want to say it's an interesting thing to

16:16 Feel like multiple times throughout this episode including up through the tribal council I heard so many people talking about like in episode two talking about their post merge plans and you know who like what is it too much too early like is it smart for Charlie on a group like this where they haven't had to do too much but they he's kind of at least thinking longterm a little bit what's next what's coming around the corner what do you do when you're a tribe that is just chilling you've got all this time in your hand do you count songs do you strategize you know like what do you do to first order of business is you count songs that's always the first thing you do out of the way you have to get that out of the way second you come up with nicknames for your trib mates like jungle gem then you strategize you got to get those first two out of the way just right off the bat then you can strategize and I do I like where Charlie's head's at you know I mean they have shown that they're a strong a physically strong tribe so it's not crazy for him to think we might just win every challenge you know at least until you know there might be a tribe swap so maybe he

17:36 Needs to you know but that's another good thing that he's keeping his options open you know that he's not just settling on one and then what if he switches onto a tribe with the other ones that he didn't you know really try to bond with so it's good that he's keeping his options open right now I think that it's probably the smart move to think ahead like that if you just jump into an alliance that is just gonna you're just going to be the first one out when anything you know wrong go you know anything goes wrong then that's not very smart you know you got to think ahead you can't always be in the moment although some people that we'll get into you need to be in the moment more a little bit more in the moment yeah I do appre apprciate the fact that he looked at it and went look there's the three women and instead of and looking at it going I don't want to be the fourth on that three instead of saying well I'll go with the men he's saying no I'm going to infiltrate the three women and me and Maria will be the r or dies and assuming and liking the fact that he can back his play and say I'm going to take Maria away from those two to be my number one is pretty ballsy you know like when you're saying Charlie's Angels

18:56 You usually assume the three women are pretty tight and therefore you're tacked on as Charlie right the Angels is the group Char like Charlie is the extra and he's saying no I'm gonna make it me Maria the Malcolm and Denise which is really interesting and interesting to see how that's going to play out and the fact they like you said they left it in there with the full edit by the way we got the flashback footage of Malcolm and Denise like yeah showed they did whole the whole shebang just did with Dean Austin with Boston Rob and Amber they showed the flashback to them back on All Stars and I was like I was getting a little you know Deja Vu from that of like this could be like he's calling how this game is going to go right now the problem with it is visually anyway it's like how you said when Charlie's talking about like I'm doing some things here and then Ben goes he's really and the contrast the socially awkward like when they go oh Malcolm and they've got Malcolm on screen and it's kind of got that filter because it's memories it's flashback and he looks like faded and then you've got Malcolm looking like Malcolm and then it cuts back to Charlie I'm like no well Jay saying Charlie is showing

20:16 His Harvard big brain here that's another thing that like as an Australian I am fully aware of the reputation of Harvard MH and the I and all that sort of thing and being the number one of the of the ivys but in everyday life if you're out in an like just normal life but even more so out on an island does anyone give a no right like the way they hide the Harvard thing I'm not going to tell anyone like this no one's going to go oh he's from Harvard he must outsmart all of us you know they don't they don't think oh he's from Harvard he's a privileged white rich guy yeah especially right yeah I mean that's probably the first thought that comes into people's hands yeah I think especially out on Survivor when you've got you know strong personalities that are very you know high on their own Supply I guess they yeah they don't give a yeah but that's also the thing of people from Harvard isn't it yeah and I think you know that's I think that's it's interesting he's not exactly that you know we had we had what's his face Drew from last season just straight up in the first episode was just like I'm probably the smartest

21:36 Person on this cast yeah we Charlie do that even though like I can't remember now if Drew was going to an IV League school I can't remember I can't remember either but yeah Charlie you know he seems to be much more yeah humble you know than your average stereotype of somebody that went to Harvard and won't shut up about it yeah Johnny Sports Network saying where's Chris today you know what I'm not actually not 100% sure what he's up to today I just know that he said he can't make Saturday can I F in for him so he had something planned for the weekend he might be away probably he's you know he's a jet setting lifestyle having kind of dude so here I guess if he sort of advertises from Harvard maybe people vote him out as someone who doesn't need it that sort of is oh they're not in the same tra I was thinking Charlie and Liz yeah I was gonna say because Liz has taken that yeah approach the opposite to that approach I'm not hiding anything like at NAMI so Nami had a week where like they came off the win the first time they're celebrating their winning

22:56 Streak but Liz seems to be super comfortable like we said the different approaches hiding the fact that you're from Harvard in other Seasons I always hate The Secret lawyer thing like you know I'm not a big fan of The Secret lawyer thing but what do you think of lizz's opposite approach here of saying I'm just going to come out and say I make millions and millions of dollars I don't need the money I'm an amazing business person like what's what is that approach this is a prime example of why Survivor has lasted 46 Seasons because we've never seen this before where somebody has just so brazenly avoided like any sort of subtlety with like I am so successful like everyone like she was just like even talking about like her dating life she's like H men just get so intimidated inated by my wealth and it's just like so annoying and it's like not only is she you know not being subtle about her finances but she's being

24:17 So smug about it like yeah oh my gosh like just the lack of awareness is hilarious yeah it is yeah it's definitely the fact that men are just so too intimidated like they can't possibly put up with someone earning more than them which I know is a real thing but there's definitely people out there is a real for sure but I still just wonder if they are just annoyed that you won't shut up about it yeah he doesn't like that I earn too much money no I don't like that you keep talking about it exactly the funny thing is on this week or last week of Australian Survivor a similar Thing Happened One of the competitors Kitty decided to tell everyone that she's on track to make nine figures this year you know like I don't get the like what's the idea behind that the strategy behind that but like I said at the moment Nami is kind of cruising where they don't have to do too much strategy they're celebrating a winning streak tev and soda or tev's kind of running the show and at the top through his social game he's so sort of dynamic socially that everyone kind of Falls in line but they don't trust or maybe except for Venus but she sees a hierarchy as well she sees a pecking order she's just at the bottom

28:18 Really being at the bottom there and he pulls Venus in as the bottom feeder of the group what do you think of this move from Randon real interesting like this is like never would have expected this to happen like it was really just out of left field but I like it a lot I mean not only obviously like with hindsight of course it's a good move because she was like totally for it you know but even like just I like the thought process you know interesting very interesting just you know given the first episode really sort of focused on squabble I guess it wasn't really that big a deal but you know it was still something I think it was smart because like I like kind of like Caleb last season with Emily yeah when she was really like the we thought first episode boot like she's gone she can't control like socially she's out she's just pissing everyone off and Caleb was the one that really reached out to her and although she ended up going further than him because his Threat Level was just so huge but at some point like that came back to him she helped him she was on his side and she was really his road to die and I feel like

30:58 Like just talk to her and like gave her a chance you know when you're really down and out like that like you remember that and even though this is a game where you're not supposed to you're supposed to put you know strategy over everything else people will still feel sort of obligated to you know pay back the trust that they you know put in you yeah and it's not like she's got a lot of a lot of other options right yeah that will build that relationship even stronger like you know and she is a vote she's a number and when you have a again one of the things I'm not I don't like about us Survivor is when you have tribes of six like every single number you can get counts like the margins are so rais to thing you need a four a 42 majority otherwise you're going to rocks like you know what I mean like that's hard even one and if even one person in your group isn't completely solid then yeah it's a it's a tough It's a high degree of difficulty so why not bring in a Venus instead of isolating her like what I feel like is happening there you know what I mean like I can't where was

32:19 The someone commented that tev's just a mean girl and now I can't find it which she's really disappointing because I wanted to go to some of these oh yeah it was YouTube Bearcat Kevin is a mean girl you know I won't speculate how Tevin is as a person but in the game you know I was personally very put off by when Venus was bringing up how she got her foot crushed in the challenge and he like was like covering his face like trying not to laugh I was just like that's such a strange reaction to be having even if I didn't like Venus like I don't think I would be laughing at that I don't know it was strange Gabe said t is in a great spot but horrible making people at bottom realize they're on the bottom yeah so he's in a good spot being at the top but he's letting people know exactly where they see it including himself at the top as part of that knowing you're at the bottom you know what I mean like when Venus realizes she's at the bottom she's also crystal clear that tev's at the top and that's a hard spot to be in like because then yeah things start

37:40 A lot of time at yanu one of the downfalls of the small tribe show is that when one tribe continuously sucks we get to know them really well for a couple of us at least and yanu is where we spent a lot of time this episode mainly because we started the episode with their the aftermath of like the jalinski vote and they're all kind of just down on themselves they're all dwelling in like leville at the start of the episode everyone's kind of down on themselves Banu is freaking out again saying how do I get to merge like you know Kenzie please help me how do I get to merge Kenzie doesn't like it she's freaking out and starts crying by the way Chris I mean Jake I'm pretty confident I can say this about you I feel like you might be one of the people on Earth that look more Handsome when you cry your eyes just get more like did you notice Kenzie when she had a little thing and she looked at the camera goes are my eyes more blue now when I'm crying like they get more blue when I cry I was like he is so like she knows she is just like oh did I just start crying and now my eyes look just are they even more beautiful like

40:20 Reaches out to both Banu and Liz who they feel or definitely know they're at the B doesn't definitely know he's at the bottom but he feels like he is anyway Liz should definitely feel she's at the bottom Kenzie reaches out to them and they take the opposite approach to you Liz's at the bottom desperate nearly went home last week it was between her and jinsky Kenzie comes and says hey how about you know we do something with Q here or whatever and she's like wants none of it what do you think of this like strategy here from these Titans I don't know man confused I meanus I just yeah I'm not yeah I mean there I feel like there's more to the story with Jess and how she sort of played I've heard you know she had ADHD which she talks about on the show but also that she was not allowed her medication because Aderall is an ant is a hunger suppressant so the producers have sort of made a choice where Aderall is not allowed even if it's prescription because it's they consider it might be an unfair Advantage
