Survivor 47: Episode 11 Review

0:11 [Music] [Music] a [Music] [Music] welcome back to the nullified take where we have the TNT takes for you on Survivor 47 episode 11 can't believe we're already at episode 11 this season has flew by but I'm here per usual with coach Drew how you doing I'm doing well I the first comment is all and to see why people have said this is probably the boring episode of the Season very straightforward yeah I like the episode but we'll get into it I'm doing well too hope your Thanksgiving went well

1:32 Yeah Happy Thanksgiving to everybody I hope you all had a great holidays I had a great Thanksgiving this was yeah kind of a weird episode as per usual you and I agree on our thoughts are pretty close to each other on the episode a little weird I guess you could call it boring I was still pretty intrigued the whole time they kind of just laid their cards out on the table within pretty much the first two minutes about like he well I guess originally was here's the three people that are in danger of going home and then they narrowed it down to two Sam kind of got disregarded later on but yeah I was still digging it yeah I boring okay so this is if we were to rank scales boring in Survivor this is not Thailand or Redemption Island or anything like that this is boring like I don't know like the pre-merge of Game Changers like it's fine it was a fine episode we still got a lot of character development we had we had winners and losers this episode this was a great

2:52 Rachel episode geneveve you know we talked about how she got clocked two weeks or one week ago and that has now just that label is firmly on her and we got another week of Sue going to the Abu Maria school for being bitter and this time it actually worked and I think that one of the best parts of the episode was her once again just another monologue of yeah I just want Kyle gone this her sitting my just want KY gone that's really all I want yeah I think there was a there was a moment where she was like I am salivated and then she like pauses s get caught and I'm like all right you are like that's I think that's like the hunger and like getting to her where she's just like can she please wash your face please she say she's using she says she's using the dirt as a contour on her face don't know what Contour really does because I don't use makeup but it looks like your face is just dirty so it just her face just looks dirty when they zoomed in on her when she was crying during the immunity challenge I'm like please just more water on it's it's please it's I get it but please just

4:12 Get rid of it but Sue finally gets her wish Kyle goes home when the underdog Alliance I guess is what we're probably going to call them are meeting by the well and they're like oh what names she's like I just really want Kyle gone that's and Sue gets what she wants in this episode because Andy wants somebody gone Rachel wants somebody gone and those people aren't the people that go Kyle is the person that goes yeah it was the it was the tuus really they got what they want I think that it was you know weirdly because Kyle was a tuku himself but it was Sue and carine that were really pushing for their former tribemate to go and they got what they wanted what do you think about this I know that you're very high on geneveve as a player so I would assume that you think take her out I mean she's the best player there but you know as they said Kyle he's won four immunities he's almost he almost broke or tied the record excuse me what do you think about the move was it the right way to go I think that Kyle made such a great case at tribal Council of hey we don't we don't

5:32 Win we don't win and then Jeff pulls some random stat that's not true oh half the people half the people that won five immunities have won the game it's like well that's not actually but Kyle rais it's like why are you guys so worried about me there are people that are actually like doing and I mean Sam or Andy somebody call oh I think it's Andy's talking about how Kyle oh Kyle's just kind of here he's winning immunities but he's not really doing anything else which is not true from an audience perspective but out there maybe yes that's how they're perceiving it I think you should have gotten rid of geneveve because the entire midpoint of the episode is like yeah Genevie is doing a lot and she there's this Montage where they're talking about her she's lays in the hammock and they're just showing her talking to people and putting you know Genevie seeds in people's ears and people you know it seems like people have bought into what a lot this season I'm shocked that they I'm glad that they didn't but I'm shocked that they didn't yeah I think obviously both cases make sense why like Kyle I completely agree with you he did a hell of a job by you know bring up like hey we never win like

6:53 You know I basically he's saying what Andy was trying to say of like I'm just a one diim player like I can win challenges I'm not as strategically strong as Genevie or basically all of you and we never we get to the end all the time and we don't usually win I think Mike is the only Tom Westman and Tom Westman right but you know if you that's even using Tom as an example is you know kind of stretching it because that was so long ago and when I was hearing that I was like okay I get it but also you got to remember like just because you're not a threat to win you're still stealing somebody's spot like you are a entity that could be I could be there instead of you know you might be stealing my spot in the final three we might be at final four and if I you win immunity and take me out where if I would have taken you out you know forever ago I would have been able to win that immunity so winning that was his defense yeah your defense was why are we keeping these people around they're hijacking

8:13 Spots that you have your ideal final three if your ideal final three doesn't include any of these people they're being perceived as being dragged along and you're still dragging them along that means that person could potenti take your spot and then all of a sudden you're bitter at them when it's your fault for not getting rid of them earlier yeah exactly and do we think that was it a mistake for Kyle last week to take out Gabe because Gabe could be sitting here kind of as more of a shield like if geneveve wasn't enough of a shield for him you know to kind of be the first in line then did he make a mistake Shields don't seem like they I mean on the under on the underdog side of things it seems like they matter because Andy is hiding behind Rachel from how I'm seeing it seems like Andy's hiding behind Rachel because of The Underdogs Rachel's looked at as the biggest threat and Andy should also be looked as a threat the threats they're only three of them if Gabe had stayed and Genevie had left because that's what it was right it was Gabe versus geneveve last week or it was yeah okay if Gabe

9:33 Had left and Genevie had stayed it probably still comes down to Gabe Kyle and Sam and I think that in that situation Gabe probably goes and Kyle stays but who's to say because Genevie should have gone here she should have gone here I don't care how nice Kyle was going on his way out and he could have he could have played that role I think to Perfection if he had gotten to the end you know Gabe saying oh yeah he's such a hero and I don't know if that was sarcasm or not but oh I think it was totally sarcasm I thought it was super sweet of the way that he went out having said that I think that as the season progressed I think Kyle's win Equity is that what the people say his win Equity probably would have gone more up because he would have had that social thing as we keep saying his social thing going along with the physical yeah I think that you know feel like this always gets brought up and I don't know if you and I personally have talked about it either off stream or on stream this season but like you don't win at the end unless they like you and 99% of the time in fact it might be a hundred but I'm sure that somebody

10:54 Could find an example of where this is in the case whoever the jury likes the most wins that's just how it works if they like you more even they'll even admit like yeah you know might not have and they kind of work backwards to be like I like you more and I'm gonna kind of find a way to say that I think you played a better game even though you know kind of doesn't make much sense so if people really liked Kyle like he could have won you know and I don't know I feel like some people aren't giving him that chance or even saying that like he had a chance he did now I think it was probably a lot more likely that he goes to the end with somebody like Rachel and Caroline who people still liked and they who actually you know had more to their game than just you know playing physically and would have just given it to them but alas should we talk about the journey that Rachel went on yes so yeah we really just started all out of order that's Prett usual well first beginning episode Caroline and Sue and Sue is upset because she's left out of the vote and Caroline's like yeah don't worry

12:14 You're good and Sue is not pissed off at Caroline P Sue still wants Kyle gone it's you know a tale is old as time yeah we get we get the next day we get a boat and at first only jenev speaks up as far as I want to go everyone's kind of giving reasons why they don't want to go jev's like yeah I've never been I want to go yeah and I think someone else Sam also says something or does he only think maybe the genev thing stood out to me because it's like I know I know that genev I think Sam actually might have just said something in his Con in confessional where he was like I also want to go but geneveve you know is stealing my spot whatever but yeah Rachel ends up going who she admittedly does not want to go we're getting to the point where nobody wants to go on these things and it's kind of been getting that way for a while but especially this late in the game what was this final eight this final eight yeah I mean yeah people don't want to go and do you think that they're

13:34 Thinking about this seeing this and kind of adapting maybe with the with you know as we talked about with like the they're probably rethinking the amulets they're probably rethinking the shot in the dark yeah shot in the dark what do you think about that yeah it's one of those and we saw this and we brought it up last week we saw this start in like San Juan server people just start trying to game things because when you introduce a game any type of game it happens in any pro sports you watch every year there's always someone that says we've never seen that before or we've never seen that before and it's like this is the same thing this is a game and if you watch a game long enough like Carolina I've been watching since I was five or whatever it at a certain point you just start you just start to game the game and when that happens you as production you can either choose to allow them to continue doing that or change the rules or change the whatever you want to call it of the game so that you can't game it anymore I'm I guess I'm on more

16:14 Work you know because we want the winners to stay on screen as possible and to stay in the game sort of for as long as possible you know and you know I don't think I certainly don't think that any of any of what they have in this season is as egregious as edge of Extinction but yeah I'm just like people are just especially this season they're just kind of spitting on what they're yeah throwing at him and it's just I guess maybe I don't have that much to add to that I just think it's an interesting observation but yeah Rachel heads off to this barge in the middle of the ocean which yeah I agree with her very strange usually they go to like one of the islands like ship wheel island or whatever usually it's just the same island they just change some things up yeah but yeah just a random barge in the ocean I will say as uninteresting on the face that this challenge was I feel like they actually edited it to be pretty suspenseful I was actually like oh shoot like everything's like it felt it actually felt pretty intense and I think

17:35 That when yeah when you look at it's like she's just moving balls around it's very Mar casus it's very old school like the CL with the car Tower from a couple week the DGA Tower from a couple weeks ago it's very just like okay which Rachel also won yes we just need to fill space in this time slot let's just introduce this challenge that we will probably never run again yeah and let's edit it in a way which one of the better editing moments of the episode because you're actually suspenseful on if she was going to finish it or not and I wonder how in real time how long it actually took her to finish yeah I also wonder and it's like it felt like how did she do like ah it just felt like it they always make it seem like where it's like just in the nick of time you which it did fly off like right after she grabbed it but anyways she gets a block a vote which am I crazy or did this used to be called something different I don't remember it being called a well so there's a steela vote there's an extra vote there's a block of vote block of vote I don't what season was block of votes first were they first introduced block of vote was introduced

18:59 Yeah I can't remember I want to say it was on like the menu for 40 but it could have come later but I definitely know that block of vote has at least been said at some point right yeah it just felt like H blocko it's like didn't feel like it was part of the vocabulary as much as like Steelo or extrao anyways doesn't really matter but she didn't you know she didn't really want this but I feel like this could come in handy you know like this could be very important especially like you can use it up to final six like seven that means all you need is like two other people and you just block somebody else's vote and you just have the majority like that's pretty damn powerful like I think she we'll see if it if it actually you know is essential for her but she could be thinking her lucky stars that she pulled the purple rock was it the purple rock it was yeah they brought they brought back the purple speak of maresis they brought back purple rock this episode yeah the she's got an idol and a block of vote at final 7 and she's in the know like all game conversations go through Rachel and she's in what looks like the majority

20:19 Alliance right now and if she gets and she has people that would come to her if her name was out there and if that's the case she could pull off a big move that would you know solidify her as the threat of the of the season and that scares me because you know as I say every week she's my winter Pig and I can't have my winter Pig being clocked so yeah but I think that she's in a really good spot we see that she comes back and in front of the whole group she lies and says that she lost her vote and then in private she tells everybody but Genevie Kyle and Sam that she does indeed have the block aot and Sue is very happy to hear this and she's the new Gabe apparently to sue yeah that oh Sue it's all it takes oh Sue all it says I just felt a bond in that moment it's like oh man but

21:39 I'm cool with it because maybe Sue will tell them that she has an idol and maybe that'll save Rachel and Caroline because only there's only two people in that Dynamic that I actually care about game wise I want to touch on this real quick because I don't I don't think this is true I don't think this is true the 39 one might be I've only watched 39 when it aired and the two the two times I did the marathon but for 30 remember being used in 30 I remember Dan stealing a vote was it a Ste he got a or maybe extra vote he had an extra vote he got an extra vote during the auction yeah and that was like that was crazy because that was crazy because it was the first time ever that there was like an additional Vote or like some sort of like changing to like who can and can't vote how many votes there are yeah I don't know if the block of vote was in yeah if someone wants to look it up please but the for when the block vote was first introduced and when was first used but yeah so Rachel gets Rachel gets block vote we get back to camp

24:20 And everyone that's on Underdog are Sam geneveve and Kyle for the interesting to include Sam in my opinion but okay I agree but you know pretty boy fine like you put pretty you put the pretty boy with the pretty people I guess I think it kind of looked like oh there's the popular kids and then there's us yeah which is weird because I think this is a very gorgeous cast but we have the you have the popular kids and you have us and Sue's oh yeah I love the Underdog Story I love the Underdog Story it's like well yeah but I do think that this five could have legs moving forward at least for one more vote I think this five could have legs for one more vote then obviously it's going to get flipped but what do you think about the this The Underdogs Alliance yeah I feel I don't see them turning on each other next week unless Genevie wins immunity I don't see them targeting Sam in that scenario like I just don't I'm and I thought it was interesting that like I kind of mentioned at the beginning that at the start of this episode it was like you said five vers three the three were

25:40 Kyle Genevie and Sam but then as time went on it was like Sam just kind of disappeared and wasn't a part of that at all so I think kind of the same thing is going to happen next week it's going to be like geneveve and then they're going to say or they're gonna say it's geneveve and Sam but then by the end of it's like just Genevie and like I said I think that if Genevie wins immunity then I can see them turning on each other but yeah like poor Genevie man I think I think her days are numbered unless she can make like really make something happen but I just don't see it she could throw Sam under the let's say one of the five WIS immunity next week Genevie could work her way out of another situ because I thought she was dead to rights in this episode she done there was no way she's surviving this when the first Genevie came up I'm like okay yeah that makes sense I think that if one of the five wins immunity yeah all we're gonna see in the episode is jenev versus Sam I see her potentially throwing Sam under the bus or we know who we're t we know she wants Rachel gone

29:41 That would have been a fun little editing trick that they would have done this episode yeah I think they I feel like they drew math on in episode one with Andy like did something about like oh my god something about like combinations with the other his tribe and they drew so yeah I'm surprised do it again but yeah I don't know about you drew I'm an engineer so I'm a math guy so your degree so no I was listening to Andy and you know his math made sense but he landed on a 50% chance for Kyle to win immunity I think it's six or 16 it was a one it was a one and 16 team chance yeah or he sorry yeah that was the final number but he started off like if he has a 50% chance to win One Challenge and you repeat that six more times or five more times or whatever then it's a one in 16 that he wins every single one and I'm I was thinking like where'd you come up with the 50% original like that's he I guess he's just pulling a number just what he felt like yeah he's making stuff Caroline was pissed no he doesn't

32:22 So I was pretty surprised to see like just how low they were on Andy as a player yeah and I wonder because like you said last week and I'm pretty sure you've said it multiple times this season they wouldn't show us things if it didn't matter and I wonder if that's one of those Andy makes it to the end and so has to said he did all these all these things which he has done according to the edit and they just don't buy it which would be unfortunate in that situation because the AI audience knows that he has been doing this the ones that are watching it with non haate goggles on because for the whatever week in a row the Twitter discourse for Andy is just so insane to me it's gotten to the point where as someone who's not even an Andy person I feel like I'm constantly defending him because it's like okay yeah it's so much to like a LeBron J person but when people say oh he's not good or whatever it's like well he is he's actually amazing but yeah but dot I feel like I'm doing the same thing with Andy where it's like yeah no Andy's actually doing really well I

39:03 So maybe we see Caroline make a comment to Andy or S maybe even Sue maybe that's where this relationship comes into play she mentioned something to sue like oh maybe we need to take out Rachel instead of Genevie or maybe Genevie wins immunity and then sue leaks it to Rachel I'm just like wishcasting here but like I could see happening and then Caroline gets taken out there's a wish cast for how both geneveve and Rachel can survive how about that yeah I the fact that both of them are at I mean the fact all three of them but let's just talk about those two are at the final seven is crazy because us as audience members and I'm assuming like there are a lot of other people out there have clocked them from the beginning as okay oh not beginning Genevie episode 3 but still but still have clocked them as like wow okay this is you know eventually oh eventually and this week was supposed to be eventually for Jenn be just like a couple weeks ago we're supposed to be eventually for Rachel and they just keep on sliding by with people knowing that they

43:04 Straightforward it's going to be Kyle or Genevie it's not going to be anyone else in fact what I think geneveve is laying in the tent with tiny who's laying in the tent with tiny and saying what if we do this or maybe it's Sam maybe we do this person or this person Tiny's just like no we're not we're not feeling any sort of suspense that it might not be one of those two no I loved it I actually laughed out loud for that yeah I remember that yeah I and listen I kind of hate when they make suspense when there isn't any so like I'm personally okay with this type of like just being kind of straight up with the audience like hey there really is not like on the island everyone knew it was going to be one of these two so we're just going to be straight up with the audience too it's going to be one of these two so I'm okay with that like I want to know what's really happening in the game even if it means it might not be like theoretically the most entertaining like crazy thing happening like just be straight up like what's going on in the game yeah it
