Survivor 50 | Episode 2 | Recap

Podcast episode · 7 Mar 2026 · 1 hr 17 min

Episode summary

Chris and Andre cover Survivor 50 episode 2. They say the returnee cast has real star power and that the crossed storylines, like Joe against Rick Devens, are why all-star seasons work. Christian Hubicki gets most of the credit for the episode: he finds the boomerang idol, sends it to Aubry, and calms Joe after the Devens fight. Devens also plants a fake idol at Tribal Council, and they debate whether it will pay off. Coach’s cramping and meltdown draws a split verdict, with Andre not seeing him win and Chris arguing he can still turn it around. They talk about Colby losing the swimming challenge, Savannah being voted out and whether she was the right pick, and Cirie’s extra vote from Ozzy. They then go through the new swap tribes, who is exposed and who is safe. They finish with a debate on Coach’s loyalty and the fantasy scores: Chris 43, the TNT community 31 and Andre 27.

0:58 We've got the TNT text for you on Survivor 50 episode two. That's right, we're back, Andre. How's things been? It's been a week since we last chatted. Have you been good? >> It's been amazing, yeah. I've like super excited to get into this, and you know, it's I feel like I've had a massive couple of weeks of Survivor, especially with Australian Survivor, but I think the cherry on the top of the cake has definitely been the US version. I've been super excited. The original, the OG. >> The OG, and how excited like I haven't watched Australian Survivor this season at all. you know, if you had to compare the two at the moment, would you say Survivor US is on the right trajectory? It's in a comeback. It's where we need it to be. Hopefully the producers take note of this season, and we learn something for the for the 50s era, I guess. >> Look, I mean, for the last say five seasons, Australian Survivor has definitely been better than the US version.

1:51 I don't think that's much of a debate really. I think that this year I've been more excited for the US version, just because they're like they refresh the format, they have the returning players. Australian Survivor is solid. takes a little bit of used to, you know, with the new host and everything. It's still a great product. But for me, like this has been like the highlight of my week for sure. >> Yeah. I wonder if basically with Australian Survivor now having a new host and that potentially falling flat with some fans of that will actually you know, the CBS channel over in the US if they'll take note of that and maybe rethink is it as easy as just taking Jeff out and putting a new face on there because fans in the US have told us for a long time. I've never understood it because I've watched Australian Survivor, I've watched Survivor South Africa. They've both had good hosts in the past.

2:42 You know, to me it's always been like oh, anybody can do the hosting gig, but US fans love Jeff. And you know, like we said in the previous podcast, a big part of why we've been critical of Jeff hasn't been due to the fact that he hasn't been up to scratch as a host. It's more been around the fact that his creative mind taking over the creative of the show, the direction that it's going in. That's been a bit of an issue. >> Yeah, I have no issue with him as a He's still the best host on TV. my conspiracy theory was that they had tapped JLP on the shoulder to take over Jeff in the US cuz there was like these rumors that Jeff would be sort of playing this season. It turns out he's going to compete in a couple of mini challenges, I think. but that was my conspiracy theory. And maybe we never know what was going to happen. We'll have to wait and see. but I think Jeff is still like top-tier host. Just get him out of the sort of the executive producer role, to be honest. It's not That's not his game.

3:34 >> Yeah. Chris saying hello Chris, welcome to the live. Saying, "Oh, wow, not watching Australian Survivor at all or just haven't watched yet." I'm not watching it at all at the moment. it's really tough like for a lot of people who are not aware like you know, similar to Andre, I kind of feel bad cuz Andre's got a pretty intense job as well, but I've got a really intense job. Like I work 7 days a week these days. I'm always on the phone. There's always things going on. So, I don't stop. So, for me to find these pockets where I can watch two shows at the same time and podcast about it is actually really difficult, but Survivor 50 was just it's a huge time commitment, especially cuz Australian Survivor is three episodes a week as well, right? So, that's a big commitment to I think my headphones might have gone. So, over to you, Andre. I don't know if >> Oh, I think yeah, you dropped out for just a second there, but we can hear you.

4:28 We just can't We can hear you, but I don't think you can hear us. >> [laughter] >> Yeah, I mean it's I think you >> you. >> Yeah, did you I think you dropped out at and this is not an Australian podcast Australian Survivor podcast, but >> Yeah, we'll definitely get on to the US >> Yeah, Rebels versus Titans. I think that was when you sort of dropped off, which is ironic cuz it was a really great season. >> Yeah. Yeah, true. I didn't watch the whole Rebels versus Titans, but yeah, just not watching it at the moment. so, Chris here saying agreed he's a great host, but producer. Yeah, I think everybody is on that. It's not a hot take anymore. I feel like 5 years ago it was a hot take and a lot of people were like, you can't say anything bad about Jeff. If you say anything bad about Jeff, like how dare you know? Jay saying if Jeff competes, then who's going to call the challenges? true. True. >> come on. >> [laughter] >> I don't think that's going to be a popular opinion, Andre. Mrs.

5:18 Stone Angel, welcome back. Nullify take missed you guys. Well, thanks, Mrs. Stone Angel. It's great to be back. I'm actually really enjoying doing these recaps with my friend Andre here. and we haven't even gotten into the episode, but I think the thing here on episode two, once again, it's not a one-hit wonder with episode one. And that nostalgia feeling of being excited to be back to watch Survivor sort of you know, that reminder of when Survivor is good, it's just the best show on TV in my mind, right? I've watched it since I was 12. I've watched it I've never really missed a season. I've always, you know, I've had to go back and watch 48 and 49 speed watch through that before this season cuz I kind of fell off it in recent years, but it's to be committed to something for 25 years, it's got to be a great show. And there's still so many die-hard fans out there. And I think what it's showing us here in the early stages of episode two is the fact that when you've got old-school cast members, they've got star power.

6:13 There's a different era. There's something about Like I've always said it's not the casting, it's the game format in the new era that's probably been the biggest issue. But I'm starting to wonder if it's a combination of both, Andre, because we just get these old-school cast members come back and they've kind of been the center of everything so far. Like they've kind of taken over the game. Even your middle school, cuz I kind of classify your Christians and your Devons as old-school, you know, the previous pre-new era sort of time of casting. It was very different. And it's just the compelling characters. And I don't know what it is, but there's something there, Andre. Maybe you can articulate it better. >> Well, what I really like is I really like Well, the game format is, you know, true, right? And one of the things that was really interesting about this episode was the no There was no journeys. There was no, you know, everybody had a vote, you know? I That's the Survivor we all love and know and love.

7:03 And what I always found it fascinating, especially with the old-star seasons, especially Heroes vs. Villains and now this season in Cambodia, is the cross season and storylines, which is something that you never It's kind of like almost like fan fiction, where they're bringing over these storylines. And some storylines that we thought had ended, right? With South Pacific, but clearly there's you know, some unresolved issues there. But then you've got like, you know, you never think about Christian and sort of Devons, you know, having a bromance together. Or you have like Devons and Joe having like a feud or Aubry and >> That was random. a feud as well. It's just and it's just you love this type of stuff where it's like it's almost like it's like the Avengers of and everybody loved the Avengers cuz you get to see all of your the characters you know and love and this is kind of like that.

7:57 Right? Where everything is sort of like it's been 25 years in the making and all of a sudden we had to see worlds collide. And then who knows what great storylines are going to sort of bring forward. So, I mean bring back newbies bring newbies in but bring back people every so often so we can get these types of storylines. This is what all the fans want. >> Yeah, Jay saying Greece best show ever. I think a few people here like so Chris is kind of agreeing with me and I think this is what I'm pointing out towards as well. Chris is it feels more like real people. Like your Ozzy, your Cirie, your Colby Coach, love him or hate him. We'll talk a lot about Coach. I love him. You know, these are these are not people trying to play a character on TV. I think Coach to a certain degree is playing a character and he probably tones it down in his real life. I hope so for his immediate family >> [laughter] >> at least cuz I think he'd be he'd be a lot to live with if that is how he is all the time.

8:50 But a lot of these people just feel more real when the newer era of Survivor people are so aware about the meta of the game and oh am I going to be perceived as a strategic mastermind? Am I going to be perceived as the hero or the villain or like what's the right move the optimal move to do in this specific situation where maybe if we just went out there to cast more casual people who are not as aware of about the show aware of the show as well, then we'll get a little bit of that diversity in the casting because to me like everybody is a Christian Hubicki or a Devon on the new season. And Christian Hubicki and Devons is compelling TV when not everybody on the season is like them or even an Emily Flippen, right? But when you've got a cast of like 20 of them all being the same, that just doesn't give you that diversity I feel like. But you know, to your point, having the returning seasons, the Joe blow up with Devens, that came from nowhere.

9:43 And having the returning seasons where players are coming back where Joe played a certain way and it got him very deep in that game, which was the loyalty and trust game. Devens played a very different game where he was cut very early in his season. He had to work his way back through the Edge of Extinction and then win his way out towards getting towards the end where people were just cutting and lying to him. They come from two such polar opposite games, and now they're coming back in a season where they have to work together. And clearly, they both just see the game in such a different way, you know? And it was such an interesting conversation. What did you think of the blow up between Devens and Joe? Did you see it coming? >> Yeah, I think and I think there was some like Savannah did some interviews saying that was that was actually way bigger. I understand where Devens was coming from, right? So, Devens didn't want to go with an alliance with Savannah cuz they were all targeting Savannah now we know in retrospect, right?

10:36 So, he didn't want to and I think Hubicki sort of explained this very well to Joe and I think that this was definitely Christian's episode, right? But >> Yeah. >> this is where the whole issue came from. Savannah came with an alliance and Devens like, "Nah, I'm not going to mention that to Joe." And then Joe got super offended, which is, you know, par for the course for Joe if you ever saw 48. But that's what is really fascinating because, you know, Joe was playing in his original season with like David, right? And he was very old school as well. So, it kind of worked for him. But in this new sort of with these players, with specifically Devens, I think out of the entire cast, Devens is probably the most wolfy player out there, you know? He's the most just crazy out over the top player. And I think he sort of proved that at the end of the episode. >> [laughter] >> So, it's like that's just like the perfect storm where you have like two opposing forces.

11:28 Or one force and an unstoppable like what is it what is it like unmovable object that meets an unstoppable force with Devens? >> 100% >> I thought that was fantastic and that's the sort of diversity in casting that you need and this is why old school has better casting in my opinion because you've got that diversity. You've got somebody that knows nothing about the game but then you also got game bots and watching them sort of clash is the most fascinating thing cuz you can't just have game theory and it's like it came with chess and it's like that becomes boring. You need to have some sort of opposition and different ways of thinking. >> Yeah, 100% and you know, you talked about Christian and this being Christian's episode. I agree like what an episode for him. Obviously starts off with a bit of a disaster with him having to go you know, walk away. What a funny >> Extra stress, yeah. >> What a funny character moment at the beginning of the episode and just seeing the reaction of that in the tribe as he's walking away.

12:24 >> Joe's face as well. He's like at first he was concerned. He was like, "Wait a minute. What's going on there?" >> Are you okay? You know, kind of thing which I can guess later on all of this plays into the fact of him stumbling at tribal council and all this kind of stuff and we'll talk about that. He can at least play it off like I haven't been feeling well for the last couple of days so he's actually got a cover story as to why maybe he would be as much of a klutz as he was when he was at the actual tribal council but you know, what a what a great episode for him. He does find the Billie Eilish boomerang idol on his beach and then sends it to Aubry on the other side and I've got a question for you Andre. There's a lot of talk about pre-game alliances coming into this season. I've heard people and it's always a thing with any All-Stars season. Christian, Devens, Emily all very similar kind of players. I would put Aubry into that category with them.

13:16 Very similar kind of player. do you think there's something there? Do you think this is a pre-game agreement that maybe has come to fruition here or why do you think Aubry was the person that he selected because clearly Aubry is not someone that he thinks will get voted out of the idol. I think he's looking for an for an ally here. He took an opposite approach compared to what Genevieve did on the other tribe when he sent it over to Ozzy. >> Yeah, I mean Yeah, we spoke about this last week where there's basically two ways of doing it. You take the Ozzy route where you think that Ozzy's just going to get voted out with the then you sort of get the idol. or you want to work with somebody, right? I think the issue and knowing Christian he's very like he's going to be thinking out every single scenario. So obviously he went down the second route. he doesn't necessarily think that Aubry's going to be voted out with the idol, you know, Aubry's tends to be the type of person that would be like, you know, if she's targeted she'll play she'll play the idol, right?

14:08 So they probably was some sort of like sort of pre-game alliance. I choose to view through the lens of like what's the story tribe telling trying to tell us. with him playing and he sort of he was explain and if you watch the edit he was sort of explaining the two ways that he could go down. And then it just cuts to Aubry getting the idol, right? So there was obviously something cut out of his reasoning of why he gave Aubry the idol. I think I think he doesn't he wants to work with Aubry obviously. the problem that he's going to face is that it's kind of like I don't know if maybe eventually a majority of the cast is going to know that it is a boomerang idol, right? So that >> Yeah. >> that's kind of like a double and that's why it's such a great sort of twist, right? Cuz someone like Genevieve knows there's a idol out there. She and I'm convinced that she showed that out of order. I'm convinced that Aubry had the idol.

14:59 She was acting shady and then she took the idol out, put it on her person or something like that and then went through her bag. I'm like convinced that was that's what happened even though the edit didn't show it in that way. So I'm trying to what are they trying to weave into the story? Are they trying to tell the story that look Genevieve is the villain in this scenario? And or like the entire tribe is against and is this an Aubry sort of coming into the ascent or is she just getting a clown on like she was in the first episode? >> Yeah, I mean, it's going to be interesting. Genevieve and Aubry both getting pretty consistent confessionals throughout the first two episodes. Aubry with three in the first episode, Genevieve with seven, then four for Aubry in this episode, Genevieve with three. So, sort of dropped back down. So, I don't know which way the story's going yet. I've still got a feeling that Genevieve is going to be seen as in a better position out of the two because you can't play this game on your own unless Aubry does end up on a swap where she does end up in the same tribe as some of these players.

15:56 So, for instance, and it doesn't look like that's going to happen either because obviously on the preview we see what the new swap tribes look like and we can talk about that towards the end of the podcast and maybe talk about who's in the best position, but it doesn't look like Aubry's actually going to land on the beach with Christian or Devens or Emily. So, I don't know how that's going to play out for her. She could save herself one round. I'm not too sure Aubry's in a strong position, but I want to talk about before we bring up some of the comments from people cuz there's some golden comments coming through from the live audience that I really want to talk about, but you know, obviously Christian's episode, Christian finds the boomerang idol, Christian ends up sending it to Aubry, but how about the assist from Rick Devens in this moment when most players would be like, that's enough. We've gotten boomerang idol, we're sending it over to Aubry, we're getting an ally, game over.

16:47 Devens is mine to your point. Like he is the definition of a street fighter. He's a Survivor street fighter. The guy looks for scraps, and he finds the scrap. He's like, okay, well, now we know this idol's in the game, so people will believe it if we plant the fake idol at Tribal Council, and we could plant it there with the help of Christian, and then use it when we're in trouble. And, you know, I know that Devens is a fan of international Survivor. He watches Survivor South Africa, he watches Australian Survivor. Survivor South Africa has had an idol before at Tribal Council. They've also planted a fake idol at Tribal Council before in the last All-Stars season of Survivor South Africa. Yes. So, to me great that he's thinking this way, great that he wants to do it, but it shows you the benefit in just being aware of the wider Survivor zeitgeist and the strategy that could be out there for people to capitalize on, right?

17:38 So, what did you think of this move? Are you pro this? Do you think it's going to work? >> Yeah, it's like the place or a place idol, right? And it's like I feel like it's been sneaky into the US Survivor for quite some time, you know, there was the whole Adam sort of idol where, you know, people that haven't seen international Survivor like actually Adam had didn't have the worst idea in the world where it's not he got it from international Survivor. And it's been a staple of Australian Survivor quite some time now. I think it's all often good and it you know, at the risk of being fancy place syndrome, it's always good to have that option, right? Devon's doesn't know he's going to be put into a situation where he might need to bluff that he has an idol. And we've seen in the past bluffing an idol like that and maybe not so much with Tony with the shoe idol from Australian Survivor, but that it's the same type of thing. If Devon's can get into the situation that Tony was in, maybe stop the references to Australian Survivor, but you know, if he's in trouble and he needs a quick out and Christian is either not there anymore or is still on his side, they can definitely pull it off because they've got they've got the they've got the parchment.

18:46 That's the number one thing that all players ask like do you have the paperwork? Is it a good bluff? It's going to be a very good bluff, right? Because I think people are expecting there could be an idol at Tribal like it's we're used to that especially on season 50. I think that, you know, all the players will come to expect yeah, that probably would be an idol. And even if it wasn't an idol, do you really want to risk sending out Devon's if he could just play it on himself? Probably not. So, I think it's a really great move. It just it depends on how he follows up on it. And obviously, that is going to be a that's going to be a storyline that pays off in the future because we saw that happen. And if it was great TV, I guess. >> They wouldn't have shown it. >> They wouldn't have shown it otherwise. Otherwise, but then again, like maybe you're maybe like you're going to show it anyway because it's Christian's episode. So, it's kind of like that's an attendant to it, but I just don't see it not paying off cuz someone like Devens >> Devens is Devens is going up there. He's grabbing that idol 100%.

19:38 Like Devens is He's like And this is why I liked Adam Klein and I would like to see Adam play as many times as he wants to come back and play Survivor. I like Devens. I think Devens bought his If he doesn't win this season, he bought his next returnee ticket for either the next All-Stars season or the All-Stars season after that because if you're a producer, you're looking for these players that are finding cracks and exploiting it. And I think again it points towards the fact that you don't need Jeff to over-engineer the game and to plant idols, to plant all these advantages, to go on these boat trips. Like you just need the players that are out there to be innovative and start with these like little ideas that can snowball into great TV moments. Speaking about great TV moments, Jay saying that the Joe fight with Devens was TV gold. Were you pro or against this moment? I know you're a big fan of Devens.

20:29 Were you worried for Devens in this moment at all? >> And I wasn't I thought that Devens didn't play that particularly well to be completely honest. Despite him having a great second half of the episode, that part of it was just pretty cringey to watch. so, I was a little worried for him and we now know how Joe plays, but actually apart from Joe being like a little bit insane with that fight, I did like how he took a step back and said, "Look, I just need him to stop being an emotional. I need to stop making the mistakes I made in my season. Need to take a step back and just tone it down a little bit." So, we're already seeing some growth with Joe at the very least and I think that maybe he understood where Devens was coming from. Especially by the end of the episode, they all knew that they were like targeting Savannah and I think that again Christian's episode he came in rescued the day and said look you know this was the reason don't worry don't blow your head off Joe I'm going to be like the diplomatic one.

21:19 So I think that it all goes back to Christian away not to make it all about Christian but let's be honest that's where all the story lines were converging this episode so it was a very strong one the fact that Devens has Christian as an ally is really good and really fascinating cuz like who knows where the story line go do they make it to the end together does Christian backstab him and take the idol first maybe Christian goes to a on a swap goes to a maybe he's in trouble gets the idol and Devens can come to his tribal council and look for it and it's not there like that'll be great TV moments so I'm really I'm really excited to where this dynamic will go cuz I have no clue. >> Yeah 100% Jay here says that the show's clearly protecting Joe's image because apparently had a big fight in his original season the day that Shawn went home I believe so again interesting here because some people are saying online I've seen some of the content creators sort of say maybe they're protecting Joe because he's going to win the season they don't want him to look bad if he does get to the end and win the season I don't see a world where Joe wins this season I just don't think he's enough of a game player to get there and there's too many sharks in the water that is going to take him out or snipe him before he gets there but one thing I do think Survivor is doing is I think Survivor is acknowledging

22:39 That returning players have star power and they're building that next legendary player that they can bring back multiple times like Rupert was seen as this hero this guy that could do no wrong even though he would get mad and want to fight with people on the island as well you know and he was he's probably like a modern-day Rupert in some ways that they want to bring back as a hero in a future season if we ever see heroes versus villains if we ever see that next returnee season, I think they're just kind of protecting them a little bit in that sense. Chris, you're saying Christian is stronger than me. If that happened to me on TV, I would never be seen again. and then also this was truly Christian's episode. The stomach issues, finding the idol, soothing Joe. We haven't even spoken about that. He was the one person that could calm Joe down. It was such polar opposite conversations >> The Joe whisperer, yeah. >> [laughter] >> Yeah, and I think this shows me this episode shows that if Devon and Christian goes to the end, I think Christian wins cuz I think Christian has he's got more emotion like I don't know if it's emotional intelligence, but emotional awareness cuz I think Devon has got that emotional intelligence.

23:42 I just think he's more aware and he kind of has an ability to pivot himself you know, compared to the person he's talking to. And we saw it in his original season when he became a part of the Bro Chato Chatos, right? So, he's someone that can adapt. Like he doesn't need to play with a certain type of players. So, I think Christian is really showing there is levels to this thing and currently he's playing at a different level compared to Devon. As much as I like >> He's in the yeah, he's in the Cochran position this season and we know how it went out with Cochran in Fans vs. Favorites, right? So, I think he's very well placed. I think he's a better player than Cochran. I don't know if my I don't know if that's a hot take or not. but you know, it's a very similar type of archetype, but I think that he's very he's demonstrating very similar traits to Cochran's season. >> Yeah. Jay here loves Devon's idea hoping that it comes to fruition.

24:33 Chris saying it is interesting because after Adam Klein tried to get the idol at Tribal Council during Winners at War, Probst said clearly they will never plant an idol at Tribal Council because they don't want to encourage people to rip up the set. Yeah, but I mean, there's a lot of people there's a lot of people that play this game that does not know that. Like I feel like they don't follow Jeff's like Colby hasn't watched seasons. >> You know, Colby has been he's been out of the game. Like, who would believe Colby did not listen to the On Fire podcast by Jeff Probst, right? So, there's a lot of players like that, I think, that if they're not on the season, they don't care, you know? So, there's probably some players that would know, but also, if you're going to do it, you're going to do it on a big season. And it's and it's about how you how believable you sell it. Like, can Devon sell it? Can he be believable when he goes and picks up that idol, I think? Let's see here. I agree both Joe and Devon were right wrong in their own ways.

25:25 Devon made a mistake how he handled Joe, but Joe was also wrong in how he confronted Devon. I agree. Like, I mean, Devon didn't come out of this cleanly, either. Like, you know, he could have just been like, "Yeah, we've got an alliance, whatever. Let's keep it moving, right?" And he made a really big deal out of it this early in the game, Andre, where I don't think it's going to matter when you get to the end game. Like, Joe might not even be on the jury. So, who cares if he's upset about the fact that you promised an alliance with him and Ozzy. Like, the right move is always to say yes to an alliance, right? >> They all saw Joe season. They know how Joe operates. So, getting into an argument with Joe is not exactly a revelation, right? It's bound to happen. Just a matter of who is the one that ends up fighting with Joe. But, yeah, like, it's not clean for either. I don't think it's a good look for Devon, and it's not a good look for Joe. But, I think, you know, in a couple episodes, we're not going to remember it unless they keep on getting into big arguments, or maybe they grow and they become closer as alliances, who knows.

26:19 >> Yeah, 100%. let's talk a little bit about like, I can't believe we're 26 minutes in and we haven't spoken about my favorite returning castaway from the season, Mr. Coach Wade. You knew where I was going, Andre. Beginning of the episode, go to the challenge, he has a mental meltdown. has to set the record straight with Ozzy. What did you think of that moment? Do you think it hurts him in this game? Or do you think he's going to be okay because people just love Coach that much? >> It's not looking good for your boy. I'm sorry to say. I think I Ozzy comes out looking better in comparison. I mean it's been he I think it's classic Coach. I don't think we're seeing South Pacific Coach. South Pacific Coach was a little bit more self-aware, I feel. I think he's maybe regressed a little bit to Coach 1.0. you know, with the whole, you know, him cramping up and it just he just seemed like a bit of a baby, to be honest.

27:12 It reminded me of when he was on Exile Island. Hey, maybe it was like, you know, you get older, we all get dehydrated, you know. >> Yeah. >> I know the feeling. but yeah, it was very a bit of a regression from Coach. Love to see it because it's great character moment and I just love to see the continuation of the Coach Wade story. I just I don't I don't see him winning. I don't see him winning, I'm sorry to say. >> No, I think I think Coach is the perfect person if you're in the game right now, you're dragging Coach to the end. Because he's not winning, I don't think. so for a lot of players, he might become a very appealing ally. Because one thing about Coach though is he's definitely going to stay loyal to the people that he stays loyal to, right? So cuz he has got Coach is a complex character. He's got this code about honor and integrity, but then he chooses when to use it and when not to use it.

28:04 But when it comes to alliance members, I don't think he's ever actually been a disloyal ally in any of the seasons that he's played. So he is trustworthy to a certain degree when you're on his side, if you're in his group. So I do see people playing with Coach and taking him deep in the game. I don't I'm not worried about any time soon because, you know, no one after this when they went back to the camp and you can correct me if I'm wrong, had anything bad to say about that. And I think people are just And if it like if he was going to do bad, maybe we would have seen that, but no one's they're not painting that story. They're not painting the narrative of Coach being a hypocrite. The only person who really didn't like it was Ozzy. Right? So and we know Ozzy and him are not going to work together and that rivalry is going to stand. So I'm not too worried for him. I think there's a world where Coach goes deep. I just don't know if he can win the game currently. And to Chris's point here, this all is happening while Kamilla's in tears over Kyle that left the game.

28:57 No, and he just So, about me, let me talk about my scenario with Ozzy. He just sort of jumps in there. and yeah, you can't help but feel bad for Kamilla. She played with Kyle. They've clearly got a strong connection. seeing him go out this way it's obviously not the way you want to see anybody go out of the game. And they've got that connection outside of the game as well. >> Yeah. I mean, I was expecting, you know, Kamilla to, you know, be emotional and then them cutting to Joe cuz Joe also played with Kyle. No, it was not. It was just it's straight to Coach. And she's like, "Well, let's hear more about Coach, you know, in this time of distressing time." It was Yeah, it was a little jarring, to be honest, but Coach was good TV at that moment. >> Well, I'm going to say cuz I just had a thought come up. I remember watching the Gabler season, right?

29:47 And Gabler had a couple of horrible episodes pre-merge. Still turned it around, still won the game. So, can we truly say Coach can't win this season? It's too early. There's too many people still left in the cast. I can still see a world where Coach can turn it around and could still win over hearts. >> Post-Gabler, philosophically, anybody can win the season. Like, Aubry can win the season. Coach can win the Everyone can win the Joe can win the season, to be honest. >> Yeah. Joe can still come back. >> Yeah, what is the possibility of each one of them? It's like, if you're going to ask me like, is Christian going to win or is Joe going to win? I'm sorry, I'm going to go for Christian, right? But Joe can still win. That'll be an interesting and fascinating season. Because like yeah, it's it'll be interesting. >> Well, it's like Jay says here, he thinks he could still win. There's people who want to work with him like Jonathan and Chrissy.

30:37 What did you think of, you know, I it's really funny to see these old school players come back. I like the 39 day game. I'm not a 26 day game fan. Never will be, but I've accepted that is what we get because Survivor's on a budget, right? But I feel like Coach, who's one of these old school players, must be thanking the heavens above that this game is only 26 days cuz he's breaking down on day five, right? Cramps up in the water while he's going out there spearfishing with Jonathan. I don't know if Coach could make 39 days in this new era. >> Yeah. Well, I mean the also the comment message like reference Chrissy as well. And what I know is like Chrissy and Aubry famously both of them had very early breakdowns in their seasons. So the these actually tend to be players that and then Coach as well. Then Coach had a massive breakdown in Heroes vs.

31:28 Villains where early on it's pretty hard going, but then once they sort of get into and I feel like this is a very common type of trope inside storytelling in Survivor where you know, it's a very hard you know, first couple of days and then sort of then they go on the ascent. I think David Wright was another one, right? where those are actually people to look for to be potential finalists or even winners. If they do breakdowns very early on and they're showing it's often the storytelling of these people are then you know, it's a hero's journey, the classic hero's journey. So some I wouldn't count out of like Coach for that for that reason. In fact, that might actually make his win equity a little bit higher. Because it's like, well, you know, Coach kind of had a bit of a breakdown the first week, but this is how he ends up ends up running. So you never know. >> Yeah.

32:19 I wanted to talk about one more thing before we move away from that challenge. You know I like my man Colby. I'm a fan of Colby. I like him a lot. He was he was a bit more quiet obviously this episode. He only had one confessional, but at least he's on the board. So we can't count him out completely yet. He didn't get a dud, right? but he got shown up by Mike White and I think Joe in this specific episode, like who was the other person who was swimming against them? I couldn't believe the fact that >> remember. >> I can't remember who the other person was. But, no, actually it might have been it might have even been like a like a Christian or someone. Maybe someone in the chat No, but it was like two players that you didn't think would And I get swimming is a very niche challenge, right? And >> It wasn't necessarily challenge based in heroes versus villains, either. >> No. No. No, he wasn't. But, it's interesting cuz there was a lot of talk about Colby struggling in the first episode.

33:11 He helped a lot of people up and then Carl had to go back, get Colby up, and that's why Carl got injured cuz Colby couldn't get up on his own, which is totally understandable. Like that's not an easy ramp to run up when you're like 52 or something like that. and then obviously swimming is a very niche skill. You can easily if somebody's practiced swimming and you haven't, I don't know how much swimming there is over in Texas where he lives, but you know, it's something that you could get found on out on. You have to actually practice swimming to be good at it. he did make up for it a lot though in the immunity challenge where he was a beast with that snake that he had to carry and did a really good job when it was just brute force physicality required. But, yeah, quite interesting because there's also people that are out there saying that Colby was being protected in the first episode so that people don't have this narrative of him struggling in challenges. That could show that he could go to the end and win it. Well, they didn't kind of Well, it's probably impossible to protect them in the swimming challenge for people who paid attention, right?

34:03 >> Yeah, I mean, I think I think they're telling the story of Colby. It's like, "Look, Colby is Colby is obviously lost a step. You know, he can't hear from one eye and you know, he's maybe becoming an old an older man, yeah, and he's sort of passing the torch of to his protege Riz so, I think that's a worthy storyline for him. And just if you think of it in if you think of it in on a narrative sort of game point of view, it's actually not a bad place for Colby to be in. Cuz don't necessarily need to be sort of the challenge threat, especially like he got to the end of Heroes vs. Villains because he was the most likable well, he wasn't he wasn't that likable, but I'm sure to the people, you know, he was the best person to be around. but, you know, he was able to reduce his threat level quite a bit. So, he's probably going to make a big run, but he's probably not a big threat to win unless he's really improved his social game, which it looks like he has.

34:53 Looks like he's maybe a little bit more pep in his step in terms socially and game-wise. So, I'm fascinated to see how he will evolve his game from, you know, the first season challenge beast, second season lost a step, third season really lost a step and became grumpy. Now, it's like how do how what's what does Colby 4.0 look like? You know, is he going to is he going to play like Rudy? Is he going to play like, you know, the old man who is very likable at the very end and they just need to cut him. >> I think Colby still has potential to do well in some immunity challenges. Like Jay said, he Colby was impressive in the immunity challenge. Shows that he's still got it. I think swimming is probably just not his thing, but when it comes to brute force, like he's still there. I don't know. Like I wouldn't completely count him out. I'm very interested to see how the immunity challenges goes, but a lot of the immunity challenges these days are either endurance based and then throw a ball or something.

35:47 It all finishes with a puzzle almost as well. Like, you know, so when you've got a puzzle at the end, I don't know if that's his thing. I would say the real threat for immunity challenges this season's going to be Christian when he gets to the merge, especially when it comes to puzzles. >> Or Devon's. Devon's very well with the throwing. Yeah. >> Yeah. Chrissy says Dee did call Coach Old after his cramp situation. but even that, like I don't feel like she did it in a she did it in a way where it was endearing. >> Yeah, that's part of her character. She would just talk about people. He She's got the Boston Rob in her where they just talk We haven't spoken about Dee at all. What do you think of Dee? Like, what her position? I feel like she's covered quite a bit. >> Dee had one confessional and that was her confessional for that episode. So, she's been kind of invisible, to be honest, this episode. I didn't see much >> to She hasn't gone to tribal, I guess, so and then they're going to go straight to a straight to a swap, so maybe the jury's still out on her.

36:38 >> 100% the jury's still out on her, but I mean Dee's capable. Like, I still think Dee's coming into this season as the best winner of the 40s, right? my >> Biggest target, though, right? >> Big target, yeah, for sure, but my view of Savannah and what I think of her as a game player has only increased this season. Her legacy has not been damaged this season. Like, cuz even when she won 49, I thought to myself is she all like she's not Dee. Dee was dominant. She played with an alliance. She was always in the know like Savannah There was a lot of times where Savannah could have gone home if she didn't win. But, Savannah is not a bad Survivor player. Like, the fact that she saw through Cirie as quickly as she did when other people are kind of sleeping on it, she called it out. I thought socially she was trying everything. Yes, she did a talk about the fact that she had an advantage and what she had, but clearly no one wanted to play with her.

37:30 She came to the party late. She didn't know any of these players beforehand. It was the unknown factor. >> She came up with a with a massive handicap. She was fatigued. No one had seen her. she probably came in maybe with even with a bigger threat like target on her back than Dee. Cuz at least they knew like Dee was the player that people knew about, right? So, it's kind of like you can almost Yeah. work around and know and but Savannah was an unknown and then knew that she was a winner. For all they knew, you know, Dee Savannah could have been Russell Hantz. That she They could have been She could have been like Dee. She could have been Parvati. They did They didn't know, right? So, you know, I mean I'm not saying this cuz she was on my team or anything, >> [laughter] >> but it's unfortunate It's unfortunate for her. >> I really like Savannah. I liked her in her first season. I thought she was a likable winner for me personally.

38:20 And again, I actually liked her this season. I'm similar to Jay here. I hope that she comes back and she gets another chance to play. I would like to see her come back in a Winners at War II scenario or Winners versus Runner-Ups or just somewhere where she can hide a little bit better from the start. But I also think if she's got enough time, like 5 years from now, and [clears throat] she's like been able to be in the Survivor community and network with people and become friends with them. Like a lot of these people have been friends for a long time, she might be insulated a little bit better coming into her in a new season where she can just find her footing. Cuz in the case of Savannah, she just needs to get to the merge. She just needs to get into some of these individual immunity runs and then she's got a shot, right, at going deep in the game. But I really liked her. I felt bad for her in this spot. But also, the bigger question for me, Andres, did Survivor miss an opportunity here with Savannah to rather bring in someone else?

39:11 Like could Should we have seen Carolyn, for instance, or some another big new era character to come in and play the game? Cuz Carolyn would have added some chaos to the season. She would have been fun to watch in this spot. Not that I think like I was happy with Savannah getting like I feel like she deserved the call to come back. But it just felt like a wasted spot in my mind. >> Yeah, I mean, a lot of people were saying that Gerry should have should have been there instead of Savannah, I think. I think that was sort of like at the time they're like, "Who's this new era player?" I don't think like maybe like we've seen Gerry a few times. I think that her story was a very good. So, in terms of like who could have replaced I'm just trying to think who was who Like honestly, someone like Shan could have been really interesting. Somebody like Karla could have been interesting as well. Just someone in that sort of that new era that maybe not necessarily have won cuz it's like I didn't think we needed winners on this season, to be completely honest.

40:08 I didn't I didn't think we needed Kyle. We didn't need D, frankly. And we didn't need Savannah. If we could have replaced those with like maybe middle schoolers or even new schoolers like, you know, Jessie, a Dom, you know, Carla, Shan. I mean, there's plenty of really great characters that would have actually been sort of maybe a little bit more insulated, maybe had more room to play, maybe wouldn't have been like massive targets, but also would have brought something to the season. I think that would have been preferable for me personally, and just keep the winners for an all winners season or keep the winners for like a true like I guess 50 is better as good as anybody, but what about winners versus losers? >> Winners versus second chances or something like >> a winners tribe, first out tribe, and second chances tribe, something like that. >> Yeah. That would have been fun. That would have been fun. Or like one of the themes that I really like from Survivor South Africa that I would love to see one day on Survivor US is the whole pre-merge versus merge tribe, too.

41:06 Those that make the merge versus those that have never made the merge, cuz I thought that brought some compelling story lines also forward. And there's some great players that never become great because they had a bad run, and they just got sniped before the merge. But now I think it's been such a long time, and with the season 40s, like everything feels like one big season, it's probably less appealing now cuz you probably couldn't point out, if you're a casual fan, that many great pre-merge players. >> I'm a big fan, and I couldn't I couldn't point that out, to be honest. >> That ship has sailed in a in a lot of ways. But yes, obviously Savannah here getting sniped, getting taken out. The other interesting strategic sort of movement here just before all of the swaps and shenanigans was the whole Q Genevieve Colby alliance bringing in Risky as that fourth now that they need another person in that in that fourth to have votes. And obviously, that's going to be an interesting dynamic because there's a bunch of them that can't vote at the first Tribal Council that are going to swapped into different situations.

42:03 I haven't even thought about how that's going to make those different tribes play out. But you know, what did you think of that, you know, Risky got I started at the bottom, now I'm here, I'm in it. Like do you think Riz got is a step behind probably should have picked up on the fact that he's being brought in quite late? >> Well, I Riz got is sort of like reminds me of that Seinfeld episode of George Costanza where you know at the at the at the beginning he's very annoying but then he become he you know he grows on you and it's like Costanza. That's Riz got right? Like at the very beginning he's super annoying but then he gets brought in and that I'm pretty sure that would happen last season as well where it's like he's just so annoying at the beginning and for the you for the pit players. I think he knows that. I think he's self-aware enough. Like he obviously you know he calls himself Riz got tongue-in-cheek right? It's an ironic he's being ironic. He's very self-aware and he kind of knows this and he knows this is the way that he plays.

42:55 So I think for him it doesn't matter if he was bring it brought in late as well. All that matters that he was brought in and then as soon as you're in you're in. and you know he's in a good position. I know that there's going to be a swap but they trust him enough to say look you know it was a temporary thing. We don't have the votes. He doesn't know they don't have the votes. he I don't think even if he knew he would care. He'd be like I don't care. I know that I was annoying at the beginning and I've probably been brought in and once I'm in I'm in. Like you can't take me away from it because he's just so damn likable you know? >> Yeah. That's true. is there anything big that happened this episode that we didn't get to talk about? Like before we start looking at what the swap tribes are going to look like and I'll give people an opportunity for those who don't want to know who's going to be swapped in what tribe. You don't have to keep watching from this point onwards but >> Yeah. >> all of this is not spoilers.

43:45 It was actually in the preview for the next episode they show who's in which tribe. so I've actually got the new swap tribes here and I'm quite keen to talk to you about it. >> Yeah. The only other thing that we didn't really speak too much about was the montage with Chrissy and I feel like Chrissy's a very underrated player. Nobody really like she's not really on the radar of anybody at least the viewers at the very least. And I found that fascinating. I don't know what to make of her. we haven't seen her in quite some time. We don't know what her character is, but we got a very interesting sort of into the first episode of her wanting to be diabolical and sort of having like a shit-eating grin on her face like the Joker. And then the second one, she's kind of rubbing people the wrong way. And they didn't go to Tribal Council. I found that really weird. I don't know if they're painting a target for her or setting her up to be a big villain later on, you know, the diabolical sort of person who's going to cut it for her cuz that's how she played in her first season.

44:37 >> I don't know. Chrissy is really so off the radar for me. She may as well be in Tony's spy submarine somewhere below the ocean. Yeah, like [laughter] you know he was talking about a spy submarine at one point, but you know, she's so off the radar for me at the moment. I don't know what to think of her. I don't know where she's going to land. What she's going >> On Jay's comment on Jay just made a comment that there's you know, Tiffany and Kamilla were relatively quiet. Those are the true ones that we didn't really hear much from. Like only Kamilla only responded to the Kyle situation. She said but beautiful, something like that. Like that was it. And then we didn't see Tiffany at all. So it's like I'm not sure if they're >> Three players had zero confessionals this episode. first one was Angelina. Didn't have a confessional. >> she's disappeared too.

45:28 Yeah. >> Yeah, she was just a statue out there, you know, just standing there, not doing anything, not helping at camp. >> [laughter] >> Like her and Ricard, not doing their thing. She's just a statue at Ponderosa queue. and then who else? So Tiffany zero, Chrissy zero confessionals this episode. So I did >> I did feel like Chrissy was a little bit more visible with her montage. >> Maybe, but it's not a death sentence. Like I feel like these days in Survivor, like they really do a good job at trying to dispel the winner's edit. And >> Genevieve >> Genevieve. in her season, we didn't see anything from her until she became like super visible in episode four and then she became one of the biggest players in the season. So, you know, the apart from maybe Tiffany, I think I can count Tiffany out. I don't I just don't see her making it that far or winning. >> Yeah.

46:18 No, it's interesting. what else was there? I was going to say oh yeah, we haven't spoken much about Cirie at all. This episode. >> it was there any doubt that Cirie is one of the goats? >> Yeah, [laughter] she's just added to her legacy of being able to get out of the most stickiest of situations, right? Because Ozzy's name came up, she's clearly trying to protect Ozzy. Ozzy gives her the extra vote. So, for the first time ever she's got an advantage in the game, which you can just tell how much that means to Cirie to be able to have that kind of power, have that loyalty from Ozzy. So, I think that, you know, obviously with the swaps, Ozzy and her not going to be on the same tribe. so that potentially could help Cirie and we'll talk about that tribe swap soon, but having that extra vote I don't know if that's good for Ozzy's game for Cirie to be in a different tribe because, you know, we'll talk about the hypothetical >> definitely not.

47:12 Actually, yeah, it's on both sides, right? It's like you don't want to have that target on your back, but in the other in the other stage you don't want to be without your biggest ally. I think it's fascinating. I think that if you think about it, Ozzy and Cirie make the perfect allies where they complement each other amazingly. Like Ozzy's one of the physical goats. probably still is even with his back. and then Cirie's one of the goats socially. So, that those two make a perfect team. So, I'm really excited to see where that goes cuz they've obviously been very big characters very early on. I think they'll definitely make it really pretty far unless >> Yeah. >> you know, something happens. I just don't see what could happen now that they sort of like Cirie has gotten past that first like, you know, stumble. It could be a bad like swap for one of those two. But I'm really excited to see where this will go because well it's a Ozzy final too.

48:03 Be amazing. >> It's interesting because it feels like Cirie's latched onto Rick Devens, Christian and Emily's alliance and that she's the fourth person in that group right now. They're clearly aware that Ozzy comes with her as a package but they must feel like they've still got enough power to take Ozzy out at any time. So that's why they've kept both of them in the game when they there was clearly an opportunity here and in the previous episode to take a shot at either Cirie or an Ozzy. Ozzy being the more appealing one because Ozzy they don't know where his mind's at and who's going to work with. Like Cirie's probably the better alliance partner at this early stage in the game but to Jay's point here, this is why you take Cirie out early in the game. You don't want to get her in a position where she gains momentum because she's so socially strong. She's going to have people protecting her and she's not going to really get voted out all that easily in the game.

48:54 >> She's going to get Tommy and JT'd where you know Tommy and JT basically idoled her out. Like that's possible. But yeah, I mean she has an extra vote. It would be >> Twice. Twice she's gotten an extra vote and the advantages, right? Because that was once and the other time was when she didn't have an advantage and everybody else did. So she was the default vote in that specific tribal council at Gen X. >> ever been voted off in her like five seasons? I don't think she has because she got she got she lost fire making once. She got idoled twice. she got to the fi- Yeah, I mean I don't think so. >> This is why people look at her as one of the goats, as one of the best to never win or the best to never win in that case. But Chrissy says it shocked her that the extra vote is Cirie's first advantage. It shows how dominant of a player she really is that she establishes such a legacy with nothing besides her social skills.

49:46 I agree. She is a legend. She is the best social player that we've ever seen play Survivor. I think whenever you look at social games, you know, if she like the universe is balanced by the fact that she's not the most physical and that she's not great at finding idols. Because can you imagine if she had both of those and her social game? She would be goated. She would be the best ever. Like you just can't have >> My question here is so she's the best that's ever won. Like I think everybody agrees with that. If she wins this season, does she become one of the goats? Does she get onto Mount Rushmore of the of Survivor? >> She knocks off Boston Rob. >> Yeah. Yeah, I can see that. >> She knocks off I reckon Sandra, Parvati, Tony, and Cirie Mount Rushmore in that case. Boston Rob for some people will and I love Boston Rob as well. Like I've really like I've really come around to him and he is one of the best ever play.

50:40 Do you just have like a fifth head on there like, you know, and just call them the five best. Cuz to me at this point I don't actually even care between the five of them like who's number one, two, three, four, and five. Like they're all the best to ever play the game in my mind. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> especially if This might be a hot take but I don't think Boston Rob's the greatest player. Like not even close to the greatest player. He's a good character. He was very influential. But I don't know. I feel like >> why you think that? You know why you think that, Andre? It's because you don't follow the other shows probably that he's played in. Like did you or did you do? Did you watch Deal or No Deal Island, right? >> I did, yeah. Well, he was very good in No Deal No Deal on No Deal Island but I'm not factoring in Cirie on The Traitors or Big Brother in my >> But if you factor in Cirie in yeah, if you talk about reality maybe that's reality TV stars and if you if you factor that in Cirie's already in the top five because she's won Traitors, right?

51:33 So spoiler alert for those that have not watched Traitors. But yeah, and she went deep in Big Brother as well. I don't know how deep she went in Big Brother. We're going a little bit off >> She actually did okay, yeah. It wasn't the greatest game in the world but she did she played a very thorough game in Big Brother. Like, she controlled people. >> Yeah, so Jay says she's already on the Mount Rushmore. And for a lot of people and I think this is where it just becomes one of those things when people start arguing like is Parvati now the best that she's won twice as well, you know, and some people are like, "Yeah, well, it wasn't Survivor US. It was one Australia, one Survivor US." for me it's like who cares? These are like the best of the best players. Like, Parvati, Sandra, Tony, I do put Rob in there. I think he's a phenomenal game player. He got found out in Winners at War, but I think if he was and then a lot of it came down to his legacy and just the amount of room that he had to move in that season that I don't think was all that wide for him and they literally they did they did him no favors doing Island of Idols season.

52:32 Two seasons before that where they literally made a statue of Boston Rob standing >> Mount Rushmore, yeah. >> Yeah, like him and Sandra at that time were seen as like the best male and female character of all time or best players. Like, that none of that stuff did him any favors going into that season in my mind. So, I like him, you know. she made it to the final five in Big Brother as well. So, there you go. So, phenomenal player, phenomenal player. is there anything else that we've missed? I feel like the back stories were fun. We talked about that very briefly. I don't think there's anything else. >> new tribes cuz I don't know the this will be news for me. I wasn't really paying attention to much of the >> Yeah, so all of this is actually not spoiler like I said. So, they did show this on the preview. So, here's the new tribes. You've got all the different tribes here. You've got Charlie, D, Jonathan, and Kamilla for Teal together in new orange, right?

53:24 In that dynamic I don't know who's working with who because Kamilla and D's got an alliance. I guess there's two people there. Cirie and Devens have got an alliance. So, there's two people there. Rizq got seems like he's the odd one out, but I think I like this for Rizq got in a way because he could be that guy that people want to work with. Savannah's out of the game, which helps his game. He doesn't have any attachments coming into this tribe. my feeling here is that you're probably going to see teal stick together. Like Charlie will probably go where the numbers are. Cirie and Devon could be in a tight spot here. But Cirie's got the extra vote. Devon has got the fake idol. Will he play it immediately at the next tribal council if they go to tribal council? It's possible. >> Yeah. >> And then risk >> We don't know any of teal's sort of social dynamics. All we know is that D is have been a bit has a bit of a target on her back.

54:15 But I mean like Yeah. Like okay, well, it looks like Devon Cirie has already gotten into the ear of Devon. So they're going to vote together for sure. They're probably going to pull in risk of Rizo. So that looks like that looks like a three. And we don't know anything about what happened there. Yeah. So I mean they already have the power. Oh no, not the power, but they'll be like they'll be four. I don't think Cirie would play it. I think Cirie is too good to play it. And she'll probably bring in someone like Jonathan and then >> I think Jonathan will vote for D. >> Yeah, to get a team. >> Here's my Here's my thing though. Is this worse for Jonathan in this situation? Because Cirie loves playing with strong women. >> Mhm. >> D is a strong woman. She's not intimidated by playing with Like D is literally we said is she the new age era poverty? You know? So >> I don't I don't think Yeah, no, I don't think it's that Cirie likes to play with strong women.

55:09 I think Cirie will play in the position that helps her the most. so whether or not it's aligning with Ozzy, whether or not it's aligning with poverty, whether or not it's aligning I don't know who she was aligning with in Heroes vs. Villains. That obviously didn't work out too well for her. And she was very famous at being on the record saying it didn't work for me last time. I'm not going to do it necessarily again. I see Cirie bringing in Jonathan. Like to be honest, Cirie Rick Rizo brings in Jonathan. They know that Jonathan's going to be targeting D and just see who else will try to like vote her out. She's an easy target. So, that's what I think may happen. I could be completely wrong. >> And that puts Kim on the outer as well with Charlie. It would explain why Kim and Charlie and D have had very low-key >> Exactly. So far. That's why we've seen Jonathan. We haven't seen anyone else. Yeah. >> Mhm. Okay.

56:00 I agree with you that. so, let's go over to the new teal tribe. Very interesting dynamic here with Aubry, Colby, and Genevieve coming from the same purple tribe to begin with. They are joined by Chrissy, Coach, and Turf. And then the wild card, a very wild Joe Hunter appears in the middle of nowhere. Let's not forget Colby does not have a vote. So, that means that purple only has two votes here versus the three of teal and then Joe in the middle. But in this spot, I feel the most fearful at this stage probably for I feel like Genevieve because Aubry's got an idol. Colby and Coach I feel like will have an unspoken thing and they'll work together. In the first episode, when Coach and Colby went to their separate tribes, you could see Coach and Colby talking and Colby says to him, and I remember this specifically cuz I was on the Colby Coach watch.

56:52 He says, "I'll see you on the other side, brother." You know? So, I feel like I feel like there is a connection. They spent time together on Ponderosa at Heroes vs. Villains. They've definitely spent time outside of Survivor. They're both old-school players. They don't want the players to do bad. A few people are calling Colby out as being in a bad position. I don't think he is. I think he's okay. Genevieve and Aubry and potentially Joe. But I could see Coach, Colby, and Joe working together. This whole honor and integrity, old-school kind of gameplay. This might be a really good tribe for Joe to fall into. >> Yeah. So, I think that I think Tiffany's gone for this. Like we haven't seen Tiffany at all. There's no way that she's sort of making it that far. they'll probably try to target Aubry. The she may play the idol or might ricochet back onto Tiffany. I think that what my watch out is on Coach and Joe and see how Coach and Joe play with each other because I think Joe is what Coach thinks that he is.

57:51 So Joe is the real deal when it comes to honor and integrity. Coach is a pretender. He thinks he's about honor and integrity, but he's the opposite of that whatsoever. And I think that maybe Joe might call him out on it. So that's going to be a very fascinating dynamic. I think Genevieve is going far. She's a very powerful player in my opinion. And like I was mentioning earlier, I just found it a little bit strange that Chrissy has had a big like maybe this 2-minute-long sort of montage about her. I think she's going to probably go quite deep as well. So I do think that it's sort of going to be a target on Aubry with secondary target on Tiffany. I just don't see how >> Think about the personalities in this tribe, right? Coach and Colby, I think will work together. I'm calling it. Genevieve and Chrissy could easily work together. I feel like there would be good synergy between the two of those. Aubry still kind of on an island of her own, but maybe she finds some footing here being one of the three in the purple tribe that comes into the tribe here.

58:47 I'm uncertain. So the big question mark for me in this tribe currently, if you agree, probably a Joe or a Tiff and maybe an Aubry as if she doesn't play her idol. She might feel safe. >> Yes. Yes. I just With Joe's the biggest X factor here. And we've seen how Joe plays. He's been playing this season. He played his season. I think Joe is the center of gravity in this tribe. And for some reason people just seem so unwilling to vote him out. I don't know why. I don't get it. They want to play around him. And I think my theory is that with Joe, even though he's a little bit strange sometimes, he's very predictable. You know that he's all about whatever he says, and people can play around him. So, I think that there's going to be some sort of really interesting dynamic here where someone like Coach, Kobi doesn't really matter so much he doesn't have a vote, but let's bring him in as well.

59:40 And then someone like Janet is going to be super smart and say, "Look, I'm just going to attach myself to Joe." Like she's a game player. She knows how to She has She has like She's similar player to Kamilla, right? Where she can sort of attach herself to Joe in a certain way and just say, "Joe, what do you want gone?" All right, I'm going to vote for Whoever Joe wants gone, right? And then Coach will probably latch onto that, too, and that's already three votes. >> I just feel like in this tribe dynamic the easy vote could be like if Coach and Chrissy and Tiff, cuz I don't know where Tiff sits in this whole alliance thing. Like where is Tiff? Like what is the Like we said the social dynamics doesn't fully It's not fully explained to us coming into this. >> Well, Tiff was in an alliance with D and Kamilla, and they were both on the other side. So, she seems to be She's without her alliance, and she seems to be the opposing force from like I didn't see Chrissy or Coach saying anything bad about each other.

1:00:34 And well, I don't think we saw any of their relationship. >> to work with Coach. Chrissy wanted to work with Coach. She was in the water with >> braiding his hair, I think. Yeah, he was braid She was braiding his hair as well. So, I think obviously they're in some sort of alliance. We haven't seen too much of it, but I think the editors put that in specifically for this type of situation. So, those are probably a package deal, and then yeah, then Joe and Janet are the interesting one. I think those are the two that matter, to be honest, and they might be working against each other. They might be working together. We don't know anything about that relationship. So, it's going to be an interesting one. >> Love the tribes. Love the fact that it's balanced coming into this. So, we've got tribes of seven now moving forward. I think it's the perfect time for the swap to happen as well because you run the risk of that tribe that just keeps losing the whole time, losing their players, like we see in so many seasons. So, let's shake it up a little bit. So we go to purple here and this one's quite interesting.

1:01:26 Christian and Emily remains in the same tribe. You know, Ozzy is there as well. I don't know. I think Ozzy will stay pretty loyal to those two as well. Like he's just I don't see Ozzy moving here maybe to another we also have to remember Ozzy and Q have that night in exile together. So Q might have that connection with Ozzy there that he can work with him and then Mike White the odd one out in this one. Does Mike White become the easy target here Andre? You know, Mike White >> White is the Joe of this of this tribe. I think he's the center of gravity and everybody's going to want his vote in my opinion. Does everybody on this tribe have a vote? >> Well, let's not forget there's so many connections here. You've got Mike White, Angelina and Christian who all played together in the same tribe. So there will definitely be some sort of potential loyalty or potential of working together. So that's three people in a seven-person tribe.

1:02:18 Then you've got Emily. So you've actually got the power alliance there. You've got Emily, Christian, Angelina and Mike. They'll work together most likely in this next vote. And you've got Ozzy, Q and Stephanie on the outer and I'm a little bit worried for Stephanie and Q in this moment. Like I feel like if this tribe goes, there's a big chance that one of them will go and probably Stephanie would be seen as the expendable one. Biggest winner in this specific tribe is Angelina cuz she was a statue in her previous tribe. Now she's potentially some agency. She can potentially influence the game with players that she's already played with. >> So I think they might target Ozzy. Like Ozzy's the clear target in my opinion. I don't think they're going to want to go for an expendable one, but putting it out there, you know, those four target Ozzy. They don't know that Ozzy has an idol.

1:03:08 Like does anybody did Genevieve tell anybody did Genevieve tell Angelina >> Q knows. >> or Stephanie >> Q knows. I think Q might know. So if Q wants to be an agent of chaos, he supports that plan so that Genevieve gets an idol. >> Yes. Or no, what you could do is if you're Q, you try to latch onto that four, tell them to target Ozzy, tell Ozzy play your idol, and then it ricochets back on someone like Angelina. I mean, if they were smart, you'd get rid of Christian. Christian's the biggest threat here, but nobody's going to get rid of Christian, right? So, you might want to defang sort of that side by just getting rid of one of them. I mean, there's a lot of room to play here. Like, I think there's a lot that could happen. I mean, nobody knows what Stephanie's up to here either. yeah, I think I think Mike is definitely not in trouble. I don't think Mike is at all.

1:03:59 I think Emily's going to want to work Everyone's going to work want to work with Mike, to be honest. >> I see This is quite interesting, actually. So, Jay bringing up your watch out for Ozzy versus Emily since Emily keeps saying she wants Ozzy out, and then Christian Gall says here, "Stephanie knows about So, Stephanie definitely knows about the Ozzy idol because Stephanie was in that inner circle with Genevieve and Colby. And Stephanie's a great game player, right? So, I've kind of faith in Stephanie saying Q, Ozzy, Emmy, let's stick together. Let's take control of this tribe. Ozzy >> There's the old school connection, too. >> Mhm. They've got a connection >> that Q has seemed old school, too, as well. Like, I don't know why, but he's been playing like an old school. He's been talking about all lazy people in the cab. It just seems like even though he's in the new era, it feels like he's from the old school. >> [laughter] >> It's like, you never know what you can get with Q when he comes back and plays.

1:04:50 Like, the third time he plays, he might play completely different again. Like, I don't even think Q himself doesn't know how he's going to play the game when he comes into these games. It's so funny seeing him. He's like a He's like the shape shifter of Survivor. That should be his nickname. Like, Q the shape shifter. he just sort of >> is does Q and Stephanie, do they tell Ozzy that it is a boomerang idol? Or do they tell Do they probably do tell him that Janine gave him the idol. Do they tell Ozzy that it's a boomerang idol? Probably not. They probably say Yeah. >> I think there's more loyalty than that. >> That'll be fa- I think it's going to be a fascinating if they do go end up going to Tribal Council. It'll be fascinating cuz I feel like there's those two There's a clear divide there in my in my eyes and the one side has an idol. So, it's a classic the mino- minority can actually maybe take control of this if they play their hands right. But, who knows? Maybe Stephanie would just want nothing to do with Q or with Ozzy.

1:05:43 Who knows? >> And remember Q doesn't have a vote. >> All right. It doesn't It doesn't matter. Yeah. It wouldn't It wouldn't matter in that situation, right? If they don't have the If their only way of go going forward is for Ozzy to play it on himself and try to get Emily to target Ozzy, which it doesn't seem like it's going to be a problem and it doesn't seem like as long as Angelina doesn't know that Ozzy has the idol cuz she was on Jan- And I don't think they did tell Angelina. So, it actually lines up pretty perfectly. still a bit of an Ozzy blindside where, you know, Ozzy can easily play his idol in this situation and I think it will go come out roses. >> I can see it. Chris just says there're going to be a ton of split the tribe into two groups and each group votes someone out. So, I hope she doesn't mean like the merge scenario where it's like literally one half of the tribe is safe and the other half of the tribe has to go vote.

1:06:38 >> Just let them play the game. That's everything. >> Yeah. >> Exile lost fire here and is idoled out by plurality vote. Game changes. Advantage get a no vote. So, yeah. So, >> In Australian Survivor, she was fi- she was She went to fire, right? She lost fire if I remember correctly. Yeah. She's never been voted out. That's crazy. >> That is crazy. Ozzy got an idol. Watch out for Ozzy versus Emily. We've seen that one. Stephanie wants meat shields. I could see that. She'll want Q. She'll want to potentially Ozzy around. I do wonder if Ozzy and Coach squash their beef before they leave the game because I saw a post-game interview where Ozzy said Coach was different person this time. So, when is the 180? Probably when they merge and they actually get to >> is going to be a long-term storyline, I feel, which I'm all for.

1:07:29 >> Yeah. And I And I think that to be honest Coach kind of And I get I get the freak out to a certain degree about, you know, this episode where Coach freaked out because he's unfortunately got this legacy of loyalty and people hold them to a higher standard because of how he came into Tocantins and what he's been talking about. So, I feel like Coach wasn't wrong in the situation. He didn't promise not to steal the key. He was the one person who stayed quiet. I was in Coach's side. Like, this is Survivor. You know, why should he be held to a different standard compared to everybody else? So, maybe he just needs to sit down with Ozzy and talk through it. I don't know. >> It's 2026. People know that Coach says that he plays a loyal game and he doesn't play a loyal game. People know this already about Coach and they come to expect it from him now. Like I don't like maybe Ozzy was trying to hope for something different, but come on. >> But again, we all When between you and me, when has Coach not been there for his allies?

1:08:24 Like, I feel like in most cases he's always been with his allies and when >> Well, the biggest The biggest occasion was Brandon when he didn't tell Brandon about the idol, but then he tricked Brandon into telling him about the idol. And then And then he allowed I mean >> But this is his first season. >> What? It was his third game. >> Oh, sorry. I thought you were talking about Tocantins. >> Bra- Brandon Hantz. >> Oh. >> And then And then it wasn't him, but then when he there was the Albert situation where he kind of let Brandon use his idol on Albert and they just voted Brandon out immediately after saying to Brandon, he's I'm not going to vote you out. >> Yeah, you're right. He's a devious player. >> [laughter] >> And then Cockroach stabbed him in the back, you know, so >> Yeah. but he did it to all the players I didn't really mind him doing it to as well. I think that's why I'm like pro coach to be honest.

1:09:15 I was like >> I don't mind him next to these players. >> [laughter] >> Coach is a really good player if you strip away his oil loyalty and integrity. >> He needs to own his game. >> He needs to own his game. And maybe he will. Maybe he'll get to the end he'll learn his lesson say, "Look, I was saying that I was playing loyalty. I was shouting from the rooftop, but at the end of the day I had own my game. I know that I didn't play loyalty integrity this time because I wanted to win this time." And if he says that, I think he can win. >> Chris saying, "Did you all see Q after Gavin from Edge of Extinction on Twitter because he didn't know Gavin was playing playfully teasing Rick about what happened in this past episode?" No, I haven't seen that. I don't follow the Twitterverse that much when it comes to >> Gavin, unfortunately. >> Yeah, or Gavin. Yeah. that is a theory of mine on how to cut these numbers down to 26. Oh, yes, because they need to start doing double evictions.

1:10:07 >> I don't mind if two tri- if two tribes have to go to Tribal Council. Like it's kind of like the hot dog episode from Heroes vs. Villains where the hero the villains went and then the heroes went, right? And then you get like the bombshell Tyson vote off. Like that is and then you see Tyson like you see the entire tribe just be pissed off eating hot dogs without Tyson. Like I would like an episode like that. Just do that. Give people like maybe I guess there's three there's three so they probably wouldn't give individual immunities in that situation, but I think that would be a good episode rather than a twist of where they do some weird stuff. >> All right, we've got to go into the fantasy draft. And obviously, I know you've been sort of dreading it because >> hammered. >> You've had you've had the worst possible start to the draft so far with back-to-back people from your tribe being eliminated here in the early days.

1:11:04 So, you've got Jenna, Kyle, Savannah out of your tribe, but still some very strong players there in your tribe overall. you've got Christian, Q, the agent of chaos, that's playing an old-school game. Genevieve, which I think we're all still very high on. Devens, who just made one of the bigger moves of the season with planting that fake idol. And then Mike White, which doesn't look like he's going to go anywhere within the swap. So, I think that it might be a while before we come back to your team for the potential next person voted out. And then we've got myself and the TNT community still with a full set of tribe members here. We haven't lost anyone yet in the early stages of the game. I don't think that, you know, I think we're all pretty confident that Andre, you're probably not losing someone in the next round. Who do you think is at most risk at the moment between the two teams that we've got, between my team and TNT community?

1:11:58 Where are you sort of leaning? I would say >> Tiffany is not looking good. Tiffany, Kamilla, we didn't see much of her. Charlie, either. So, sorry TNT community, those three are on my radar. on your team, I mean, Aubry's such a big target, but she has an idol, so she might be bailed out. >> Ozzy's a big target. He has an idol. Ozzy's a big target. >> But then you've got Angelina. Angelina's been sort of in She's in the category with like Kamilla and Tiffany and Charlie, where she's kind of not really >> But she's But she's safe. She's got Christian. She's got Mike White in that next tribe that they're going to have. >> get idoled She could get idoled out, though. >> Could. Could. Yeah, I think D's probably someone that's at risk. I don't overly confident. They're trying to get rid of the winners here. So, not overly confident in D at this stage.

1:12:49 >> Could be D. >> Okay, I'm also going to go over the points fast after the two episodes. So, and this is where I'm definitely going to sort of just double check with you that I've got it right here, but we've got a bunch of players obviously that do survive this episode on all of our tribes. The only person who loses points is going to be Savannah in your tribe, which is a minus five. Unfortunately, you take another hurt. we had in my tribe Colby, Stephanie, Angelina, and Aubry won immunity outright, which gets them all three points. Then Coach in my team had a meltdown in the beginning of the episode. So, that's another two points. I'll take the meltdown points Andre while it's there. >> You deserve it. >> Well it's on offer. I got to get like, you know, I got to get something from Coach. and then in your team >> Does Christian pooing himself, does that count as a meltdown, too?

1:13:43 >> [laughter] >> Well, I would I would I was going to ask you like I don't know like do we give a meltdown like to maybe not Christian, but I feel like Devon's, but it's more conflict. That's not an actual melt meltdown. >> I don't think either. Like a fight is not a meltdown. I don't I don't think so. Yeah. But I do think that Christian does get the quote of the week. >> Yeah, what was the quote? >> down when he falls down he says I'm meant to do this. And I'm like that's classic. >> [laughter] >> I'm meant to do this for the classic quote. >> Yeah. >> How do How does the audience feel? Do you guys feel like that was the best quote? >> need we might need a second Yeah, we might need a second opinion there. >> what does the audience think? Do we give Christian points for the for the for the fall down quote or was there someone that deserves it more this episode? let's see what they say. And then in your team we've got Q, Janet, and Eve both won the immunity outright.

1:14:36 You've got Christian who finds an advantage, the Billie Eilish advantage for three points. >> Beautiful. >> and then I also gave you two points for Devon's making a big move because I believe that planting the idol was the biggest move of this episode and it's going to play it's going to play off in the in the long run. >> Does that Aubry get the >> I feel generous. I'm going to give you the point cuz we've had some people say yes, it is the iconic one so >> like it needs to go to Christian either way cuz it was his episode. >> Yeah, 100%. >> I'm not saying that cuz he's on my team though. >> You need the points right now. So TNT community had everybody survived but they had no one that won the immunity outright and no special mentions across their team for anything specific there unless you disagree with me on this.

1:15:28 I don't think there was anything here. So final points when we tally them up together is going to be for this week the highest point getters were Okay, well in last place TNT community with eight points this week. >> That's surprising. >> You had 15 points this week and then I ended up on 22. If we tally that to total points in third place currently is still yourself at 27 points. You've got TNT community in second place so a change to the top table here on 31 points. And then I'm on 43 so pulling away slightly probably with the big character moments within the tribe. And also the immunity wins definitely helps at this stage.

1:16:20 So tight race still. You're not I mean it could have been a lot worse for you. You're four points behind TNT community. >> I'm surprised. Yeah, my issue is My issue is that you're going to be both of you are going to accumulate points a lot faster cuz you have more players still in the game but I think that I've got like when you have Devons and Christian and Q on your team, you're going to rack up points pretty quickly, regardless. >> That's true. That's true. it's been a fun podcast. It's been fun talking about all of the action here on the episode for Survivor 50. I've been enjoying doing this with you, Andre. I think that's pretty much it. And thank you to everybody in the chat for being so active today, asking lots of questions. If you have missed out on the live, please, you know, comment below. Let us know what you thought of the episode, if we missed anything. I do read the comments as well.

1:17:10 Remember to put a like on this video. It helps with the YouTube algorithm and it getting recognized as well out there when people are looking for Survivor content. any final things from your side, Andre? Anything you wanted to say before we sort of wrap it up? >> no, I'm just looking forward to the swap. The swap's going to be incredible. So, I'll see you guys next week. >> Yeah. Yeah, it's going to be amazing. Can't wait to talk to you about that. so, TNT community, grab your torches, hit back to camp. We'll catch you guys next time. Bye. >> Bye.
