0:01 And welcome back to day 24 of Survivor 46 and 46 Kim just won Survivor One World a season that on my fourth time watching isn't that bad I know that it gets a lot of hate in the community but this time around I think I finally got it's it has the gabone effect this time around whatever that might mean today I'm joined once again by Chris host of Survivor New York and Ian who went black host and prod member of DCP Ian we're going to start with you are you back we're gonna start with you what were your thoughts when you first watched the season and have those opinions kind of changed throughout history or have you always been more on the positive side of the season I think like my original opinion of the season was definitely better than others I really loved watching Kim play this is one of the seasons that I like remember Watching start to end live when I lived at my parents house so I guess fond memories there those Seasons include everything from Samoa through caram moan so that's like

1:21 That time period I guess for me this you know there's a lot of [ __ ] in there in my opinion so this to me doesn't seem near as bad is like South Pacific or Nicaragua or Samoa even but yeah I mean I've definitely grown like you said you've gotten more positive on it this is your fourth View and I've probably seen it around that many times as well four or five I would say the same thing for me like every time I watch it marginally goes up it's never going to crack like a top 10 me it's not that it's not that we're not we're not delusional here yeah I mean that's where I think gabone belongs though I mean I'm a huge Gabon fan but yeah there's a lot of good stuff in this season I think this season is really hampered by colon and it lasts even though it doesn't last very long it lasts too long so yeah I think I think a lot of people just don't like a lot of people want to see great players and then when great players do play great games they're like oh that was boring I don't like that season yeah I do agree and I do want to touch on that a little later Chris historically one world is looked at as a [ __ ] season you know I tweeted out something earlier and someone said it's their worst ranked season of all time

2:42 Which I think is crazy but you know I've also seen other people's list where one world pops up and they're bottom like five one world for me has always been bottom 10 it's just always been the Kim I've always called it the Kim Sabrina show because I've always seen you know what Rea was and this time around I do feel like and this is like the running gag throughout this first 24 days is revisionist history because revisionist history tells us that it was Kim and a bunch of folks and Kim ran rough shot on a bunch of people that you don't need to know or need to remember when in reality it was you know a Women's Alliance with her being the very much the head why do you think this season has been buried throughout history you know we do have a dominant female you know people love to stand when it comes to Micronesia and even sometimes vanatu but like people just kind of buried this one for really no nothing really problematic happens after Colton leaves that's a great question you know I think what's sad about the this season is that there are so many great characters like deeply amazing people that got the opportunity to play Survivor like Sabrina like cat like Kim

4:02 Like troyen like Tarzan Christina Alisa there's so many great actual characters and they have had such amazing storylines that really make what survivor what it is in terms of personality and conflicts that they you know came up about with I think a lot of it had to do with the pacing of the game which was we had a Medevac episode one which you know I hate it happens so often in the new survivor where people are medically evacuated right off the bat and it feels like we're not actually starting a season without a tribal council in the first episode and there was a tribal council kind of they didn't vote soone out there was a big fight between Christina and Alisia which was iconic at least that was a Saving Grace first Christin stood up for herself one of the only times Christina stands up for herself the entire season yeah and I just watched again earlier just having her say like shut up was it's still like people love that people love that but then the next four episodes are like super clouded with Colton's negativity the men choosing to go to travel Council which I still think is a huge negative factor on a season because it doesn't make sense I will say the challenge that they got to do on their own without Jeff being

5:22 Pres is kind of cool it's the last time that they ever did that on the show I wish they would do that again Colton getting medically evacuated slow down the season because something was you know developing on that tribe after they had just voted out Monica and then we go right into a pagonging so it nobody likes pagong especially in a later era of Survivor because if you look at season 23 and 24 was like backto back pagonging so we had just left South Pacific with this whole boring One Tribe Domina the game and we're going back into another season where it's happening again the fans were just put off by that so I think that's some of the factors I get that and so then Ian what is usually your defense of the season when you do I'm you are in the minority when it comes to people that enjoy the season what is usually your defense of like hey no when you watch it this time watch it like this I just think it's fun like just watch for all the because normally when I'm watching live I'm like all right I'm trying to figure out who's going to win whether I'm paying attention that much to the edit or not I'm really trying to focus on how these people are playing in order to win on your rewatches you already know that so you get to look at all the other stuff more so in depth you kind of see characters more so as characters than you do as

6:42 You know possible winners or game players and stuff so I just think I agree with what Chris said I think the part of the reason this is so hated is because it's after Nicaragua Redemption island South Pacific and then this one just comes up like people were just bored and like I think as great as Kim was like it really kind of It kind of crushed the season because not only was it boring by like a paging standard but even from the pagoni like once you got down to the Women's Alliance at five I mean there's no way Kim wasn't going to win the game and yes I saw someone chatted that Sabrina's edit post merge goes away that made it even more obvious she was like the only other Poss I mean there's no way you're watching that season thinking Alicia or Christina or even Chelsea is gonna win yeah it's and I guess we can go to the Colton of it so I can just get this out of the way now because have to talk about talk about him again in a few days Colton the thing with Colton and the thing with this season as a whole and the thing with this era of Survivor is you know they are very recruit heavy but Colton isn't one Colton is one of the people that comes into the game that actually UND like knows the game

8:02 Has seen the show and all that and you see that with a lot of the stuff that he's doing I think that he just forgets that there is a social aspect to the game because he just totally neglects that like he does set up an alliance very reminiscent of the fat fie from vanatu it's like hey let's get all the rejects on the same side and let's go after the generic white guys and he does do that for one episode before he's like oh man Bill's black we gota get no he doesn't actually say that but basically we need to get rid of we need to get rid of bill because he's trash or he's not he doesn't have a real occupation or whatever but I watching it this time I try to remove everything except for the Strategic part of Colton just to see yeah you know this guy did understand that aspect of the game the Strategic aspect of the game you know he was weird the way he went about it of the three people and I'm glad someone said it in this where is it okay yeah someone said it in the chat I feel like these are the three people that are the most strategic in the season like I that's and it's and it's very similar to a lot of the seasons that we have in the past and that we have going forward it's like yeah when you put

9:23 Someone on a cast that actually understands what's going on it makes it easier for them going forward even when you know in Redemption Island Rob only faces you know a counter offens from people that understand what's going on in South Pacific Sophie understands what's going on in the game and you know was able to do what she needs to do she does she doesn't become one of these you know brain dead you know people that follow coach she actually has a mind of her own you even you know look even it's looking at this season you have Troy in being the only real op position to Kim because he understand he's the only one saying hey Kim's going to win Kim's going to win Kim well yeah but maybe but we have the women's thing going so like Troy Zan you're crazy Colton just from a strategic aspect of the point of the game do you did you see did you see the fan in him I guess either one can go because I want both of y'all to answer the question go ahead Chris so I have a very the reason why I wanted to do one world is because I have actually known Colton since 2002 I played in online reality games with that guy since 2002 and he has

10:43 Always been this way he's a very loved or hated person usually it's a hated person he's always been extremely strategic and I knew that if he were to ever get on the show he would dominate in a lot of the social aspects and the Strategic aspects but his mind was always about wanting to work with women or people that he considered to be hot so I thought it was like a really interesting take that he ended up working with the Misfits because the hot guys just weren't with him although the edits not doesn't show it that well Jay and him are very close and they still talk to this day I think that you're totally correct about your standpoint on those three being the three most strategic players but I will say that Sabrina and Alisa coming in a little bit later not knowing the game as well they start to come into their own and become strategic by their own standpoint and I think that Sabrina especially becomes one of the best like underrated strategist social players of the game and she makes some very pivotal moves but back to Colton

12:04 He's just a hot mess I think we can all agree on that but he's strategic and if he had not got if he did not kind of quit I think that he could have gotten a lot deeper in the game Ian yeah I mean I agree I think you know it's really not it's like you'd say he's like the third most strategic in this I would say he's probably third because you know quitting is not a good strategy right but like I don't know man it's just because you see it like you said Andrew in the first or second episode when they I guess it's the second episode when they create their Alliance and vote their person out and then all of a sudden or I guess at their first Tribal Council whenever that happens and then all of a sudden like something either doesn't go his way it's just like I don't know if there's ever been like a better example of like from the walks of life aspect of Survivor like he that's what he grew up doing it's I mean at least even he explains it like at the reunion and stuff like that like he's used to getting what he wants and when he didn't get it I mean he just kind of quit and I think people you know after the reunion of one

13:24 World and I guess I'm expanding here but they kind of gave him like an out and they were like when he came back for blood vers water I don't think anybody was like overwhelmingly pissed or sad or anything but then you know he does the same thing again and then you're like and then it kind of sour what we saw in one world like even though he did like get Medevac it wasn't a quit I mean it's still I don't know he's a hot mess like Chris said I it's hard to really provide much more commentary I mean it's a sour tribal with Bill and it's something that it's just hard to watch as a black person I think it's hilarious because it's like yeah like hilarious in an ironic way just yeah I can't believe this kid is saying This and like Bill is you know Bill is biting his tongue a lot in that situation and both of you I mean knowing now I didn't know that Colton came from the org Community I don't know what form y'all were using in 2002 but cool Chris what were we using two it was it's still around it's called Fantasy game Central and now it's on

14:44 Discord okay there's still people playing it to this day knowing that and know and seeing how Colton has gotten twice jumping the gun in blood water where when things don't go exactly how he wants it to go he becomes whiny and [ __ ] as someone that plays a lot of online games I've seen that happen a lot of times with folks where they just cannot handle anything bad happening in the game or anything that they don't want to happen happening in the game and they act out accordingly you know and in this case Colton may or may not have lied about being you know having his appendix hurting or whatever and then straight up quitting and blood versus water it sucks but we get rid of him we're gone we're done with Colton and through the only Colton stuff that really matters is the fact that he can convince his tribe to go to Tribal Council even though they have one immunity should this have even been allowed I guess that should this can be very quick should this even been allowed or you know do you think that Jeff just or Jeff and production just kind of wants to see what would happen in the

17:25 Yeah that's what he says when they finally sit down he like oh yeah I've had this and that never has a tribe willingly given up immunity and blah and then it cuts to Colton and he's just like rolling his eyes like I hate you I hate you Chris go ahead so I had texted Colton before doing this and I said please give me all your inside tidbits about this season his first response was I'm so sorry you have to do this because it's a very boring season I was like okay give me give me something good okay so he told me that in order for them to give up the immunity all members of the tribe had to completely agree on it if one person disagreed it was not allowed and they had told Bill that Michael was going home it was 100% the Michael said that during the reunion he said he thought that he was gonna get catch the votes yes and they had convinced bill so well and everyone else knew what the real plan was and it was just to get Bill out and I think it was just because animosity between Bill and Colton but that's what he told me about that trouble Council but in a I know it's like there was a lot of animosity in the season but in 2024 according to Colton they have hung out and they're in a really good place Bill and Colton so he likes black

21:27 You know their recruits or whatever but I was going to mention earlier Chris brought up ORS I think it's one of my favorite Parts about hosting and being in or is seeing someone come in they have no idea what an org is they've never played never watched and then you see them like transform by the end into this player and I think we would have seen again the people on the show were smart but I think Jonas would have been I think he would have had something going eventually especially if him and troyan are in it seven you know maybe they have a chance and it's not because by then everyone Troy Zen is like playing the villain so hard that everyone's like we're not going to work with you anyway but maybe if Jonas is still there maybe he has the chance of pulling some people in at seven or eight or whatever but yeah I'm a huge Jonas fan so Chris I like Jonas I can't say that I'm a huge fan I played it an or as Jonas so I do think he is one of the more strategic players I would say he's probably like maybe top seven or eight of the entire season I definitely think even though he was a recruit he did have knowledge of Survivor and understanding of the game

22:47 But after he got there that's when he started to like play the game and understand it more and become a threat and that's why a lot of people saw him as a threat at the merder wanted to get rid of him right off the bat because they knew what he was cooking basically yeah no pun intended but I loved I saw Jonas as my proxy watching it this time around it's like yeah this is probably how I would react if I was on a tribe full of cartoon characters and I had to just live with it and then I get swapped on a tribe that I know is probably not going to win any challenges because we ended up with said cartoon characters plus Monica who like is probably the most athletic person of this entire crew and Alicia who sucks oh and Christina forgot about Christina I saw a lot of myself this time watching Jonas even him arguing with Tarzan it's like yeah at a certain point I probably flip out on Tarzan too because even though I enjoyed Tarzan this time around I could see how he could be a little overbearing at points especially with under underwear gate with the pot I only want to bring this comment up because I love the fact that Colton doesn't give Elisa

30:49 That with a lot of the women where a lot of the women you know when they're not being annoyed with them they kind of see Tarzan as someone that they you know they enjoy they want Tarzan to go on the on the reward during the family visit they want Christina and Tarzan to go on the reward if he was that hatable out there I don't think that they would have been like oh man I'm surprised that cat didn't take Tarzan we can kind of focus on Tarzan and troan here but let's focus on Tarzan first do we like it we don't have to go into much detail but do we like Tarzan here yeah why not whatevering his the game is a foot you know that quote lives on a Survivor history and it's still being mentioned to this day so he has some like iconic n to him I also think his archetype within the earlier part of Survivor no longer exists in the new era of Survivor which is kind of sad we don't see older men get to play like around his age or I think he was like in his late 50s maybe his 60s yeah so it's kind of like he it made sense for the time and

33:29 That episode in particular after that pass I'm like I don't see anything wrong with because she admits on camera that she had a boot job that's the only reason I'm saying this is because she admits it nothing looked weird about it wasn't Tarzan a plastic surgeon or yeah so yeah so that's why he thought that Chelsea didn't like him because she had a plastic surgeon who screwed up her poop job yeah it's a crazy it is just the most insane reach and it still might be the biggest reach in all of Survivor history it's just it is insane drag on forever that he even thinks that it's too funny I don't know how when his wife shows up I'm like oh yeah there we go it all made sense when his wife showed up because it was very clear that she had one damn The Producers were really reaching for something they were grasping at straws we need we needed entertainment and so they had to they had to and on the other end of the xan duo we have Troy xan who obviously Troy xan 1.0 is so much better than Troy xan 2.0 but you can like even his final words where he's like I you know I spent eight years or however long

34:50 Trying to get on the show that is the final moment of us realizing how much of a fan he is but like just even though he is a his name is Troy xan on the on the men's tribe you can still tell that he understands what's going on and he does have strategy and he does have the so the social aspect of the game and he's actually he's not that bad at the physical challenges and at the merge I do think that one thing that kind of bites him in the ass is the fact that strategic part goes out the window because he wants Michael out so badly and Kim brings it up at final tribal where she's like yeah the only reason you know you were the only person that I only male that I knew that Troy wanted gone and after Michael's gone yeah you can just pick people all the men off one by one I think that troyan got kind of impulsive at the wrong time and then he picked up on what was actually going on after Michael went out and then he was he was screwed at that point he would have to go on an immunity run to do it I like I'm jumping the gun here because this is one of the questions I do ask at the end I understood why they brought back Troy xan again because I know there was a lot of like oh why troyan it's like yeah go back and watch troyan's game

36:10 He is doing very well and he makes that one mistake in my head do you guys think it was warranted for troyan to we won't talk about game changers yet but do you think that troyan own on the second Chan's ballad with how he performed this season I would I would say yes yeah definitely I mean I loved him since I remember seeing his audition tape leaked and I thought he was great yeah it's watching it this time it's very clear that if he's not a neb he's something during final tribal like he's I think he's drunk I'm fairly certain he's drunk if it were to come out that he's a sober person that he's never drank in his life I still think he's drunk for someone that likes the game and like respects the game and all that much his question towards Kim of you know this will decide if I vote for you or not you know when did you decide you were going to vote me out and she's like after the Jonas vote and he still votes for Sabrina which is fine because I think that Sabrina is great and she deserved at least one vote do you think there was there were ill feelings towards

37:31 Kim as the reason that Troy Zen actually votes the different you know differently than everybody but Leaf I think so I think troyan is the type of person that can be very bitter especially if he can realize that you're the person that took him out of the game that was his dream like think about it in that regard like Sur I mean we all can say that playing Survivor for us would be our Dream right and to know that one person was behind taking our Dream away it sort of it sort of pings your heart and you have to sort of take yourself out of a placement and see the game as a whole to vote for them to the win to win but some people cannot do that and cannot separate that and I think that troyan can definitely be that kind of person especially with his ego being so big with everything he's done with his career and how he was in like that one episode we were talking about earlier offline Andrew where he had like 20s something confessionals he's just extremely cocky and full of himself so I think that it was a little bit of like a Revenge thing even if he knew Kim was going to win anyway it was just like I'm not going to let you win unan unanimously type of
