1:21 So I did not watch palao live when it aired I think it was like five or six at the time and the first time I watched it was actually like maybe not even two months ago something like that and I've been going chronologically and like trying to keep myself out of like spoilers or anything but when I when like they started and like they did the school year pick I was like okay this is like kind of weird and then Jeff's like okay Kor here's your buff oolong here's your buff and I turned to my girlfriend Heather and I'm like oh this is the Oolong season oong season and so like I kind of already knew that they were going to lose everything and that made me kind of just both really excited and also terrified because I'm just gonna watch a tribe get decimated but when watching that for the first time like two months ago I enjoyed it I think as you said before I think I enjoyed it a little more than you because I think even for like how simple of a season it seems to be on paper there do seem to be a lot of we'll say discussion points I was going to say like strategy but I don't know how much strategy there is in this season and that's and I think that's the

2:41 Problem that I had this time around of the first time you watch palao it's like wow this is CRA and going off of this comment it's crazy that this tribe just got decimated there's a there's a aore there of like wow this is the first time this has happened eventually they're going to win something right and then when they don't you get Stephanie alone on the beach and you get Stephanie and Bobby John having to do the fir making and both times that I have watched palao since the first time I watched it's just consistently just been like okay I don't I don't care and I think it's because the premerge Oolong tribe is very forgettable for me at least like it like we were joking about before we went live and because we joked about before we went live I have these people's names in my head but going into it's like okay I know there was generic white guy and the blonde girl whose names I had forgotten and it's Jeff and Kim they're so forgettable it's they're so forgettable and it's you know we Ibrahim I think I only remember because he is black James I tweeted out earlier he went prepper School of how to dress on the on the island you know Angie we will talk about later because I do think Angie was at least a bit compelling galanda

4:02 I feel like she cursed the entire tribe with her them voting her out first because she was the she was the leader and we saw what happened on Kora where they kept both of their leaders and on oolong they got rid of their leader first and just the wheels just kind of fell off and so this time around it's just like it just came off so boring to me it just it just the day just dragged and I hated it and I'm now I'm going to still put it ahead of like allst stars in Thailand because of course I am but like plow is and I said this last night plow is very overrated to me not to say it's a bad season because I do think it there's a good season I think there a very compelling winner I think there are some characters that we can really latch on to but for the most part it's just like okay yeah if you haven't seen it before it's really cool to see a tribe get decimated after that it's like wow this is depressing it's not fun it's not fun to watch these people just continuously lose well the way that I tried to keep my like entertainment levels up during these times when like there was no suspense like no real tribe dynamics that I had forgotten about the thing that like always kept me entertained

5:22 Was like okay they're going to lose this immunity challenge but how like what in incredibly stupid thing are they G to do time what's gonna happen this time oh James is gonna spend like five minutes like tying up his toga the KN the not and he was so confident about it yeah or like or like James is gonna get beat by Kobe and then say like so gay go to the gym yeah gays goes to the gym so like that boy that boy has got an ass on him I do I will say for all like the forgettable like Ashley's and Kim's of the bunch there is at least like a James and a Stephanie that'll like you'll see him in a confessional and be like okay so there's still people like bringing at least a little entertainment here yeah and as much as I didn't like James this season I have to like obviously he was he was one of the big narrator big confessional of that of that pre we're going to call it the merge today because I understand that technically it wasn't a merge but

6:43 PR yeah for the pre- merg portion of the game James is one of the big narrators and I just felt like this time production really it felt like production really wanted us to care about James and I just did not care about James ever stuff that he said was funny but it was like I don't I want him to I want him gone probably be like after Kim but before Angie I mean I don't disagree because that would have saved Angie but at the same time like there is there is just something about like James's like just complete overconfidence in like everything he is wrong about pretty much every single thing and he can't even do the one thing he's good at which is being good at construction I had a friend tell me earlier there was like an article written the funny 115 that was put out like years ago it's like there was a meme about how James was like a reverse Oracle where everything that he predicted in this season ended up being wrong yeah to like a crazy extent of like they wrote down in the article everything that James predicted in the season and everything that he predicted

8:03 Ended up being the opposite and I think that's where the fun of James come from in the season he also kind of looks like Dobby at a certain point with the napsack that he's wearing and his face kind of looks like oh that's crazy comparison it just I just kept getting Dobby vibes from him I'm not gonna disagree but I'm like I would never even think of that about that just the way just what he's wearing and just his face and but like outside like we don't spend much for pre-merge the only time they really get to spend time with them is when you know Tom the Tom Ian and Greg are killing the shark or the one episode that they have to vote at Willard where they're like oh yeah Willard is going home there is no secret to what's going on here going home and the only real like premerge cor content is EV is either everyone being like oh wow Tom and Ian did something really cool and then maybe cut to Coe being like really that's it or the second type is Katie's fighting with someone or Katie's F and that's we're gonna get to the Katie of everything this season because I do think that Katie is a very compelling character she

9:23 She is very much the villain of the season for me I would say Kobe is more maybe he's more like SN out earlier I said that Co growing up is realizing that Kobe is the anti-hero of the Season only because Kobe is on the bottom of OG Kor OG the only Kor he's on the bottom and he's with the outcast I would say of that Kora tribe you know with the fit hot Folks up here and then when the merge happens and Stephanie shows up he is the person that goes after and says hey this is what happen we do to flip this and I do think that's what ended up screwing it but like I don't think that the first time I watch this like yeah Kobe's a villain because Kobe didn't pick Angie to be on the tribe that's all I likeu in my head was like oh Kobe doesn't pick Angie so like he's definitely the villain I mean I'm sure there's something I'm sure there's like some like real story there they have to they have to tie like 20 people talking together in like 15 minutes yeah we're gonna miss something yeah but I feel like because he tried he wanted to flip the game and a lot of his confessionals even before the

10:43 Merge were we got it like these people need to go I do that makes I do think that makes him at least a compelling anti-hero but villain it's absolutely Katie in my opinion okay well why do you say Katie then because Katie comes off as a bully for most of it like Katie come to the point where she's sitting at final and I would say this is the first time through 10 seasons where it's very clear who's going to lose like I feel like you can make a case for every runner up until this point even Kim Johnson in Africa you can make it a case for everyone here it's like yeah Tom's winning because of course he's winning because everyone hates Katie to the point where I think at one Karen says no Katie has a confessional where she's like yeah everyone wants to take me because they know they can beat me it's like yeah of course they are because and yeah because you are you are very antagonistic to people that you were not working with when the one tribal I think the Willard goes home Willard or maybe it was the Kobe one everyone someone's talk all the Duos that are there

12:03 And they say oh and then Katie is just the life of the party and it's like yeah Katie's the life of the party that's a very nice way of saying Katie doesn't have a Duo and she's in an alliance where she's very clearly the third or fourth person there and we'll get to her and Tom gaslighting the out of Ian later oh my God that's a crazy last two episodes but Katie is just I think she's a very fun character but I feel like she's a villain and I'm assuming you disagree with that okay it's not that I don't see her as like hated by the cast it's more so that like to piggy back off of Greg at final Tribal Council she just seems too like pathetic to be a villain in the sense that like she has all these times where she could do something to switch the game up and I know one of her one of her times she like got like it didn't work because Karen sucks Karen sucks right but like she could have like she could have made it a tie vote at final five she could have voted

13:23 For Ian at final four final six sorry yeah she could have vot for Ian at the final four there was a lot of things that she could have done and she just actively didn't and then at final traval Council she defends it because like well I stuck with my alliance but yeah it's like you're going to lose to both people like so clearly so it's like I don't even have the energy to like call her a villain yeah I and I try to avoid doing like the whole oh sitting for my couch and telling people what they should or should not do but oh I'll do that this season in particular it's like yeah there's a Katie goes to rocks at six and there's a potential that we can flip this entire game because even though Ian's sitting there saying hey we got to do this or do you want do you want to go to rocks do you want to go to rocks K it's like yeah I want to go to rocks let's just see what happens oh yeah I think that yeah I think that is I think that is the prime move for her in that situation is to go to rock six because at that point you could potentially get rid of the large P power Dynamic and all of a sudden do I think she beats Jen or Greg at the end probably not but like I think she

14:44 Has a better chance there than against Tom or Ian at that spot and no matter how much you try to make Ian feel like a bag from here on out and probably still wins pretty well against you at final two yeah well Ian probably because I because I always think like what if Tom went at final six or final seven but then it probably just defaults to Ian winning final Ian just winning all the immunity challenges after that so if you get rid of Tom yeah I feel like Ian is the front runner to win most of them I think Ian was second to everything second excuse me second in all the immunity Chan is only behind Tom or at least for the ones that Tom won yeah and go off this comment I think a Katie Karen a Katie Karen final two would have been intriguing because I do think that Karen gets Kobe and Janu and I do think that Katie gets Ian and Ian okay and I think everybody's else's vote is probably up air let's see so two votes for Katie one vote for Karen

17:25 One person well Janu quits and then yeah and then it's basically a ponging of Stephanie going and all of a sudden everyone starts to turn on each other like what happens in a ponging and it's it becomes very it becomes very dull because no matter what people are saying in their confessionals about hey we should do this or we should do that's not what happens it's the majority of the majority Alliance that flips on Greg at that point like you know Greg is saying hey we should do this we should get rid of Tom if Tom doesn't win and all of a sudden the vote flips on Greg even though Greg and Jen still vote for I think they go for Karen at that point yeah they go for that was okay well that was a more solidly set up episode I think because they set up the idea of like the like they the three go to the reward three go to the three St back a cam they're like Katie's going to get pulled in with Greg and Jen we need to vote out Greg and then Ian pulls katian so I think I think it's a solid episode strategy wise at least no and that's the thing is like I feel like all the episodes by

18:46 Themselves they're fine I but as a whole yeah as a whole it just became like and I think it's it runs with the Amazon problem for me when I watched Amazon this time around it was like okay once the allore of Rob cesternino flip flopping between tribes wears off all of a sudden it's just like okay yeah this is kind of like whatever that's what the case was this season of like yeah once Kobe Janu and Stephanie are gone it's yeah okay Tom wins cool let's get let's just watch these people think about doing things and then not do them and then let Tom do his thing and sit at the end with Katie where if he sits to the end with and let's just go to the whole gaslighting thing let's Okay the last the last two episode okay I will say the first time I well by the way your camera is a little blurry I know it turned blurry for some reason I don't know what all just so you know so the last two episodes of Ian completely like shifted my opinion on him because the first time I watched Palo I wasn't like the biggest fan of Ian

20:06 He just kind of seemed like this super like happy go-lucky kid and like I don't know I think it was it was very like subjective like some of the like things he would say in his confessionals i' be like G you're so annoying I don't know it was very I don't know I don't even know where I got it from but then in the last like two episodes from like the final five onward and even starting at the final six when he like tells Katie about the vote and he starts getting in his head about this like morality issue that he's been doing which like is mostly instilled upon him when Katie and Tom decide like he has to be taught a lesson or whatever and he becomes this person that's instead who's been like I'm happy to be the provider for people I love all these people but I am still playing a game and I'm keeping that the back of my head and then he becomes this person that's like we see at the final imunity challenge he's like take I want friend back yeah I want my friend back like the are you talking about I know it's so like I just called Katie pathetic before and I could very easily call it pathetic for Ian as well but in my head I just see it as a really interesting

21:27 Like character study like I'm sure if somebody compiled all of just all of Ian's content throughout the season and just like put it in one long like video or something it'd be like a really interesting watch just to see like the arc he goes through yeah because he goes from being number one or two depending on how you're watching it in a in a very powerful Alliance to all of a sudden they get rid of Greg Katie doesn't like him anymore and then double doesn't like him because he doesn't pick her for the reward challenge Tom's annoyed because he said hey don't pick me for this and yeah Ian did kind of have at least something coming when he basically by picking Tom pissed off both Tom and Katie yeah and Jen rats him out and says hey you know that's is what Ian was thinking and all of a sudden Ian goes from I if Tom sits if Tom sits on the jury and Ian is sitting next to Katie 100% Tom votes for him and I think that Tom was just playing into the fact that this kid is very clearly torn up about everything and I'm gonna take that I'm gonna take advantage of it and I think it's smart thing to do but I feel like people don't talk about that much because

22:47 Tom is like Captain America the Great White Hope and all that like oh yeah Tom's the greatest thing that's ever happened to the show it's like yeah he was a very winner don't glance over the fact that this man gaslit the out of this kid and took advantage of the fact that this kid was so torn up about betraying his friend Katie and potentially portraying his friend Tom and you know you got to do what you got to do to win so like I don't I don't fault Tom for it I just feel like it's one of those revisionist history things where it's like oh yeah we just glance over that and oh yeah Tom was is in complete control of his tribe and he won all of his immunities and people just glance over that what are your thoughts on Tom as someone that it did join the Survivor Community later you know what do you feel like what are your thoughts on him as specifically in this season I'm like I'm like conflicted because from like early on maybe like I think like from the point the merge started and Kobe went home I was like okay so Tom or Ian are going to win like it's pretty obvious and then Tom and then Tom does end up winning and like I'm not going to sit here and say Tom doesn't

24:07 Deserve the win because like he absolutely like does based on based on what happens and there are some points in the game where he makes maybe I'll say like morally questionable moves but definitely good moves in like the point where he is talking to Katie and he's like hey I'm just going to let you know now if you vote out Ian or what is it's like it's like yeah if you vote out Ian then you're the next to go pretty much or something like something like that happens in the final five and I was watching it and I was like wow that's like kind of messed up but at the same time it's like really impressive gameplay and also Al he's a comp Beast I like a comp Beast every once in a while but it's I don't know it just his personality rubs me the wrong way like a little bit he kind of he kind of seems like a dad that just thinks he knows better than everyone else because he just happens to be older and maybe a little stronger from stronger than anyone yeah I guess I guess that's mostly again I'm not going

25:27 To say he doesn't deserve the win yeah but yeah I would I would never come on here and say anyone doesn't I would say even coming like growing up I thought that Tom was the most dominant winner that ever existed because I thought he had all three fastest of the game locked down and every time I've watch the game since then or watch this season since then like I'm not yeah this is this is the perfect Comon yes it is that is exactly what it is a better Andrew Savage version of the game where he had his people that he deemed worthy of being in his Alliance in on Cor and then as the game progressed if anyone ever decided to sway from it he actually took the move and did it because even you know and also when Janu is saying that she wants to quit he's actually one of the people that are saying yeah let's let her quit which is different from Andrew Savage and pearl islands where it's like oh I don't want Austin to quit you know let's keep Austin or even Greg or even Greg this season which he his like two episode stint where all his confessionals are just like we have to get Stephanie out she's bad for the tribe like what are you talking about like

26:48 Yeah it's very frustrating watching it this time around because I do think there is a path for Stephanie to make it longer but I think people kind of reverted back to people reverted back to Old School thinking of we have to stick with our alliance and we see that with Katie sitting at the end saying oh yeah suck to my alliance stck to my alliance it's like yeah but we're at this point now where no one really cares about that anymore well I think that I think that aspect of like oh we got to stick with the alliance would not be as strong if Kor didn't go like three whole weeks without voting like a single person off they voted Willard off but Willard like everyone knew Willard was going yeah the edit didn't even try to make us think that anyone else was going on oh right it was really it was that was that was really funny but like but like when you have that and you have all these people that like f first of all are in your alliance and you can be like we're strong we're staying strong and then you have the people outside your alliance and you could say like Kobe's really getting on my nerves today Jan

28:08 Is just whining all the time like the more and more you instill that people the less they're going to want to move away from that because it's like all they all they know all they've been in the game with yeah and that let's go to the Oolong thing of all of this because that is the thing that people when you think of Palo you think either Tom Westman Stephanie and Bobby John or just oong as a whole and oong as a whole and I think Kobe or Karen bring this up pretty like at the merge of like who would have thought that this was the tribe that would steamroll the other one because at a glance ulong looks pretty strong like they look like they have you know they shouldn't be running into these issues and I know you had talked about it earlier before we went live of like watching where oong screws up in certain challenges and this is why I don't think oong is the worst tribe in the history of the show because they do win I think halfish of the reward challenges this season so they're not completely just being decimated challenge wise they're only being decimated immunity challenge wise

29:30 The numbers to and the talent to win challenges they just they couldn't show up when it mattered most so what were your thoughts on ulong this season well I will also say they win they do win half of the reward challenges but the rewards they win are so much worse than coros like they went so they wi the my ties it was they wi my ties and freaking Pringles with fact okay but that's not going to help them and they wi they went fishing they went fishing equipment which is good but then there I forget when it was there was a later challenge the Kora one where they won like fishing equipment and then something else that was like significantly better than that it might have been when they got the freshw yeah the however many gallons and everyone's arguing about should they shower oh that was so stupid I'm not even going to get into that but any the rewards they're winning are not good so you have this team whose morale just gets lower and lower with every loss and even the wins they do win it's like how nourished are you gonna get on Pringles like what are you what are you gonna do with a sewing kit oh maybe you can make a toga that you're gonna spend all the challenge just fixing instead of doing what you're supposed to do yeah

30:50 And it's they want to H yeah Coran's the most absurd how like shelter in like that I've ever seen yeah I understand they want a luxury resort at face value it does look like oong is the worst and I and I get that but they really like the fact that they were in a lot of the immunity challenges and the fact that they did win I think half of the reward challenges shows that there was potential there for them to do and I think it all and this is this biased because they shouldn't have voted out galanda first but I think it all goes back to galanda being the person that was looked at as the leader and the fact that they voted out their leader and cor didn't and they had two leaders I would say in Ian and Tom the fact that they did that and they were oolong was just kind of voting every Tri and I might be mistaken and you might have to correct me on this I feel like every tribal that they had was very split there was never like a big consensus yeah I say I say that but like maybe the maybe the

32:10 Kim vote maybe Kim vote was pretty set stone but outside of that even when Jeff is saying Hey I want to quit and everyone's like I don't know maybe we'll keep you yeah k Kim is the only yeah seriously Kim's the only one of ulong's tribals that's a unan vote besides the like the final three one where like it has to be you but yeah but then you get like vote counts like four to two to one or like six to three or like two to two to one and then like a tii which now that we're talking about ulong I could say this Angie just completely robbed it was crazy Angie was one of my favorite like characters this season or maybe not even characters because it wasn't that she was like super out there but just like watching her like be like Oh I'm not the only weirdo out here oh no my weirdo friend didn't pick me and then almost gets vote voted out and then goes absolutely beast mode on like half the challenges it's just so entertaining and the fact that she would have made the final four

33:31 Of ulong if there wasn't imunity wasn't that dumb twist where they're like all right Kor now you get to vote for who gets immunity think like I feel like they didn't know how to film 18 people 18 person Seasons yet so they just decided okay we're going to do a double boot episode and we're going to make sure that the other tribe can watch because at this point we've had 3 18 people 18 person Seasons allars they had two people quit Prem merge so they didn't have to do this umu they do this where the One Tribe sits in on the other and then they do it again here I can't remember what happens in Guatemala we're gonna find out in a couple hours but I can't remember what happens to Guatemala but like go ahead I was going to say I think in Guatemala they do the thing they did in vanatu was where they give immunity to someone who wasn't going anywhere but like of at least the seasons I have watched I have not watched every season this is the only time they've done that like double tribal One Tribe gets to watch in and then they vote for someone who would have gone would that someone

34:51 That would have gone home if yeah everything every other time it's like okay we don't want to piss them off we're just going to vote for like a nonperson at this tribal and it's at this time they're like we're up in numbers let's screw with them some more yeah and let's H this stew in front of them too even though Kobe sits there and says hey let's not gloat about the fact that we're getting this as soon as they open it everyone loses their mind and's like this like and that like and like I keep saying it I think once and I don't think I'm going to have this problem when I get to Philippines which I don't know if you've seen so I'm not gonna spoil much I haven't so okay I'm not gonna spoil too much but like something similar in that season happens in this season and I don't feel like I'm G to have the same feelings about that season that I do with this one because in this one just there were just no compelling people on the Oolong side and we're not getting enough cor content to really care about anything happening over there oh they caught a shark cool and over here it's you know you almost it's almost Telegraph that Stephanie is definitely making it long

36:12 Enough I don't think it's be her as the set person that last person but at final two this time I'm almost rooting for Bobby John because I know how it's going to actually happen so I'm rooting for Bobby John cuz like okay maybe I'm crazy in all these years I'm the scile and it was actually Bobby John the entire time that actually wins this it's I was just gonna say I think if Bobby John makes it in say of Steph Bobby John gets voted out right after Kobe like yeah like they're gonna overwrite Jan quit and just vote Bobby John out because he's too much of like an insane person and that was honestly that was the best episode of the season for me was oh qu episode because you start with the endurance challenges of them holding their breaths she goes off to Exile Island for the first time I don't even think it has a name at this point she goes off the Exile Island she has her coming to Jesus moment almost where it's like okay I'm all right with everything that's about to happen and we get to that tribal where Stephanie is saying no I want to be here I just went through all this with ulong I need to be here to show that and in the back of your mind it's like okay maybe Stephanie is going to be able to find a way and even that next episode starts with her trying to make that all WSI

37:32 But like I think that the episode where Jan quits despite the fact that there is a quid from beginning to end it's a very compelling episode and then from there I won't say the wheels come off because I do think it gets more exciting once that Jan quit happens but it's if you're if you're not a new person watching the season it just becomes like yeah hey Stephanie wants Stephanie they want to do this all women's line oh man Karen went back to Tom and because Karen sucks and Karen goes back and tells Tom and that is I think Karen's a very compelling character because even though she is outside of this six person Alliance it's almost like you haven't seen South Pacific but coach and Edna for those listening it's like coach and Edna and South Pacific where coach has his five person Alliance and he also has Edna outside of that five person Alliance where you know he could either go with her or he can go with his five person Alliance the same thing with Tom here is he has his five person Alliance and he also has Karen and Karen can come to him and say hey this is what's actually going on right now oh Greg said this or Katie said this or Stephanie said this and Tom is sitting there saying oh why are you telling me this Karen do is this because you trust

38:52 Me more or that was that was kind of funny of that one confessional of like doesn't really make sense why she would tell me this she would do better taking the information and doing whatever with it I don't I don't know Karen just wasn't as compelling to me as somebody else maybe because I was just more frustrated like with her just constantly going back to Tom although she does hold her own in the episode where Greg goes and yeah that someone says Karen deserves an Academy Award for how thick she's laying it on and she did lay it on she got to the point where she brought all of her stuff to tribal and that's beautiful yeah it's such a great performance on her part and that's why I do think it is a compelling final two of her and Katie because I don't think that either one of them steamrolls each other now two of the final like those two of the final six I don't think there was any way that the two of them were make it through the final two but if we do put them at that final two I do think that's the closest Gap in as term as votes that we're going to get of that final six because I think that anyone else is probably a blowout against others
