Survivor Thailand Review

0:00 And we are back with day five of Survivor 46 and 46 I just finished watching Survivor Thailand Brian just won we probably won't be talking long about this season today I know we went over an hour last night from our cases I don't think that's happening tonight I'm joined by a newer fan to the community Mark Anthony who watched Thailand over the last few days so Mark is your first Survivor Thailand what were your thoughts such a great season I mean there's really just so many that are so good and this is just the best one I've watch no yeah I actually I did manage to do it I mean basically in one day I think I maybe I watched one or two episodes the night before and then actually I think just one the night before and then the rest o me and as you know Andrew like I'm more of an I'm kind of coming in with like the newer era but I have watched a lot of what you suggested as like really great Seasons so I did specifically ask you like you know what's a bad it's a you told me you let me know that it was a bad season I let him know beforehand I'm like if you want Thailand is the worst and I will say watching it this time around

1:21 Because I this time I wanted to come in at least somewhat more positive than I did this the last time and before the comment about yeah like there are some good things and we are going to touch the good things because there is there's a few things that I actually enjoyed this time around the challenges I really enjoyed the challenges this season you know I understand that what attack Zone was and I understand that was just a dumpster fire on its own but even just things like the final immunity is that is final imun that Brian is doing with old people but it's it was you can you can see I guess how little they cared about safety I mean not that they didn't but I mean I just as when he was explaining the bamboo underwater I was just like you are gonna you're gonna swallow saltwater you're gonna and I was like that's not safe that's not that's not how you do that but and what's funny because I spent the last few Day saying Australia African marqueses are the three seasons where they wanted to basically kill their players so that when we get to Thailand I think they wanted to bore the audience to death

2:41 Because I mean honestly there's never a point in the season where I'm like actually invested today well I watch three episodes last night and I watched all of them today the rest of them today and it was just it's such a I won't say it's a slog like it's a very easy watch because nothing happens and even so last time I did this you know the Ted gandia thing happened and it's like okay it just kind of sucks the air out the rest of the season I tried my best this time to be like okay this is gonna happen and I just have to you know move on and see how I enjoy the rest of the season which I don't enjoy but one thing that I will say is I forgot that you know there are certain players that are actually trying to play the game here in my head I feel like on a lot of Survivor fans heads it's oh yeah Brian just it's just Brian everyone else just doesn't know what they're doing it's like no most people don't know what they're doing but you know penny tried to do some things Jake tried to do some things Sheen shean absolutely Tred to do some things and Helen I think Helen tried to late Helen tried to late so what were your thoughts on some of the some of the cast I know you were very tongue and- cheek earlier about the cast but what were your thoughts on some of the cast not talking about Brian and Clay right now I mean I exactly what you said like I think I mentioned to you I was like oh there's some Advan gameplay here from Sheen and I haven't

4:01 Watched too many of these I mean this is what season five right and I haven't watched too many of these earlier Seasons so I know that for these people the game is newer you know I mean we're they're Five Seasons in so they've got like a fresh take on like oh we can do this we can do that this is still the era where a lot of people hold a lot of weight on being lied to or deceptive like it was it was new it's like oh you can do that like you can you can just lie to me and it's like yeah that's the game there are people still trying to play and then there were others out there tb's I respect that they are in an era where what they're trying to do is newer like you said Helen was a little too late Helen was late and it's frustrating because her husband is sitting there saying to her hey you should probably get rid of Brian because it seems like what you've told me Brian's a threat and Brian could win and Helen's like no me and Brian are good and that's the main story of the season is everyone's good with Brian except for when you find out that the suji

6:42 Podcast here so I was just rewatching the finale and I was thinking about something that comes up in the reunion which is playing in the background has anybody talked about what there's rumoring inuendo about what was said what Ken was implying that you know Ted eventually goes to and says oh yeah you know what do you think a racist is there's there we can talk about that off air because I don't want to get in trouble well I was just it was also it was mentioned in the jury questions of like he like tell me tell me what you said about why Ted had to go and yeah doesn't I mean I just I was wondering if that's ever come out or if that's ever like if anybody on the cast has done an interview or done anything yeah I mean that's there are rumors about what was said I don't think anyone's ever like outright I don't think there's ever been like a I don't think there been like a 100% confirmation would happen and one of those people is sadly dead now clay past like a year or two ago but reading between the lines I kind of assume

14:44 But What conflict What conflict happens in Thailand just all pieces of that is true but that is I feel like it's there are people who are like that when it comes to Jersey Shore or the Kardashians where they're not watching it and they're a fan of Kim Kardashian they hate her they like they hate these people and they love to watch these people that they hate I don't and I can't speak for that commenter but I mean I enjoyed this more than 45 I like 45 that's insane that I like 4 I don't I enjoyed 46 better but something about the season was just like I would agree with you almost any other old school Survivor season like first 10 this ain't it comment of the of the picking of the tribe so yeah I think what really one of the things that really hurts the season among a lot is the fact that the tribes were picked and yes was smart about the way he went about picking the tribe and ironically they end up getting decimated towards the end of the game while well Jan you know Jan is had to end up being my winter pick not because of anything other than I didn't like anyone

16:04 Else and Jan crying over the baby bad and when Jake's killing the chicken she's sitting there like trying to hold back tears it's like okay yeah I guess I'm running for Jan now and she's a lush and I like a good drink here and there too so I liked Jan for what it was but yes the tribes were very lopsided for a lot of the pre merge and then all of a sudden chewy just goes on this very long winning streak as we get to the fake merge oh right before we get to the fake merge we have the flag immunity challenge which I know is very basic but what did you think about what did you think about that challenge and also some of the others that we were shown here because I don't think we've had any of these challenges I won't say that's true because there's probably one I'm forgetting most of these challenges we've never seen again but what did you think about a lot of these challenges this season you liked them is what it is what I'm hearing I am one of one of the few positives that I have about the season is I like the challenges and I love the variation of the theme song This variation of the theme song it a cool variation yeah the Thailand desk yeah I take that they [Music] were fine I think

21:26 I think that out of out of everyone this season out side of Brian I think the best player yeah you know a case could be made for clay but I do I honestly do think that Jake I think that Jake had the right idea I think that you know the fact even going back to how he formed his tribe and then going from there he was always able to be on the right side of a lot of those suj boats and then at the merge the fake merge and the merge I think that he knew what to do it didn't it didn't help that none of the chewy people wanted to you know jump ship but I feel bad because I feel like in another season Jake could have flipped something even if it was the season beforehand I think that Jake could have flipped something but because these people were all sipping the Brian Kool-Aid and Clay being a smart player and realizing hey my best bet of going to the end is with Brian and I know that he would take me over Ted because of reasons I know he would take me over Helen because he thinks that Helen could probably beat you know Helen could probably beat him Jan poor Jan is Jan is too sweet she's too sweet there's so many not even just in Survivor I mean sometimes
