0:01 And welcome back to day 30 of Survivor 46 and 46 Mike just won Worlds Apart I'm done with Worlds Apart I don't have another [ __ ] season for another nine Seasons so I'm looking forward to that I'm joined today once again by Mar who's making his return from what Thailand was last year was Thailand so yeah both the [ __ ] seasons and then for the first time we have Jeremy who is a fan of Worlds Apart so we're just going to start with that when you first watched this season you know when it was airing live was it one of your favorites after it finished or has it become a favorite throughout time so let's see so the season came out I was just finishing College and back then I really didn't really paid too much attention to like winter edits and like the storytelling that kind of stuff I L I just I picked a person kind of hope that they won and rooted for them and so I to me it was a pretty decent season there were definitely a lot of moments where had its pretty bad spots we'll get more into that I'm sure later but after

1:21 Rewatching it around covid times I really fell in love with like most of the cast members they really just they give you good content and so I think that's where I kind of fell in love like it the season doesn't have like the flashiest strategy or those sorts of things it's really just there are just key moments that just make me laugh all the time and just be like this is you know what this is a good season overall okay Mark I know you watched this season for the first time about a month ago is I know you've rewatched it a couple times since then yeah I've now watched it the most out of out of any of the seasons that I've watched I'm sorry to hear that no I actually it really has grown on me I did not like it when I when I first watched it but yeah the individuals themselves have really there are I've never truly like the idea of somebody that like you love to hate and this season just keeps giving you that in so many different forms you're shaking your head but

2:41 Because I agree Like Loving to hate is someone like I feel like I just did a season where it's like there are a couple oh like even like Tony and Cagayan it's like okay I don't hate Tony and Kagan but like yeah you're almost rooting for him to lose but he's entertaining while he's doing it here yeah for me all the bad people on the season aren't even fun where I can laugh at him they're just F they're not fun period Dan you know it always feels like he thinks he's funnier than he actually is and a lot of his confessionals he's like trying to make these very witty comments thinking oh yeah this will get me back for All Stars or whatever the you know Second Chance is and instead it just comes off like a dick the entire time I guess I can go aheading these people I can't imagine myself ever meeting a Tony but like I know we all we know a Dan we all know it they're so relatably hatable I don't know what it is I really don't know what it is even first time I watched it Jen I couldn't stand her and she's my favorite she's on her way to owning my heart good guy in

4:01 This season Jeremy is there any is there any redeeming this cast as a whole because this cast does get a lot of hate I think I don't know if it was Jeff or somebody else maybe it was like one of the big people that cover the show that said this the most hatable cast in Thailand which yeah I mean yeah is there well no I'm asking Jeremy are there any redeeming for you as the fan are there people that stand out to you as you know I really enjoy this person and let's not count Mike for right now because I want to talk about Mike on his own yeah I think Jen is a big one I think definitely like in the first time you watch it she kind of rubs you the wrong way but the more that you actually look at her content is she was actually there to play and I know at the later half like right before she got voted out she was really just done with you know Dan Rodney all those types of people and basically just wanted to leave but then like you hear her question like her speech at final tribal and like she points out like all of the key points of every person Mike Carolyn and will and she basically just like you know tells the jury how it

5:22 Is and then you know like you get introduced to Joe he's like the new aie of that era of Survivor ER y I know one person a lot of people don't like I really like shin to be quite honest I like she grew on me as the season progressed because I think that at a certain point she becomes this empathetic character that we kind of feel obligated if we have a heart latching on to yes her and Max premerge you know they are the Survivor super fans of the season and they get called out for and I talked about this in a lot of the more recent Seasons leading up until today of super fans being targeted for being super fans and in this situation we have a lot of confessionals where people are annoyed with Shireen and Max for being who knows who knows all the stuff about Survivor it's like have you ever met a Survivor Super Fan ever like all of them do this is they not and it was it's it sucks that yeah one that Max leaves but I also understood why he had to leave at that point with Shen she just kind of ran into this situation where you just have a bunch of evil people and it just and it leads to very uncomfortable

6:43 Television mainly merge on but let more specifically auction on and we're going to touch all about that but I want to touch on this comment that's why I've kept it there my opinion Mike didn't deserve to win over Caroline once again I don't do deserve not deserve because the winner deserves win no matter what I think in this situation it's still a textbook example of how bitter juries pissed off juries can still vote like still think rationally and it usually comes to Russell H fans are like oh yeah that jury was pissed off and that's why he didn't win it's like have you ever seen any jury ever where people are actually pissed off and this is a prime example of a jury that was pissed off and they still voted for the person they were pissed off with and Mike I feel like Mike had to in I feel like one of these misconceptions of the season is Mike had no social game and it's like well that's not true Mike tried his damn disc these people just blocked him out and he had to he had to just keep on wetting why and we can we all both of yall can touch on this why do we think in the larger Survivor community that Mike is looked at as a weak winner I think I mean it all starts with the move he made at the auction where he made a game move he made a game

8:03 Decision and he went against the entire tribe and I think from that point on he knew that he had to win immunity just to stay alive and sometimes I feel like people they just they don't like the immunity train I was gonna say the exact same thing I think it's the that's why I don't think he's a weak winner think his he was blocked out and I think and I to my knowledge he hasn't played again but he's somebody I would like to see play again just in like he had a great social game with his core and he had a good enough social game with other people I mean immunity notwithstanding that like he could at least have the conversations whether they were SED or not they weren't but obviously they were sede enough that at the finality of things votes went his way but like yeah I would say the weak winner goes from that like it's so easy for any Survivor fan out there whether you're a hardcore fan or not to say like oh well if he hadn't one immunity he would have put it off and that very well may be true that

9:26 Absolutely you know so you don't we haven't gotten to see what his social game could have been it could have with that with that southern draw could have and I do want to touch on that because Mike there they situ he's clocked as a threat before he starts winning immunities people see him as someone that would be able to maybe rally numbers or be able to pull off moves like the move that he pulled off right before the merge with getting rid of Wen or whatever his name was I think it's Walken getting rid of waen and you know pissing off Rodney I think that's the first time we get stupid redneck coming out of his mouth I hate Rodney and we're gonna go we're gonna touch on him a little bit as well oh well the comment Rodney was fun at least with his birthday that was the Rodney birthday thing is inherently very funny you know I can't believe he's washing dishes on his birthday and all that but like Rodney is another one where I felt like casting thought they had done a great job getting this guy and all of a sudden he just turned out to be I won't say evil because I'll save that for other folks on the season but Ronnie's just it's insane that he gives his ending convential saying oh yeah I would have killed everyone at final three and then I thought about it's like

10:46 No you would potentially if he sits next to Carolyn and will there is a big and I love Caro he sits next to Carolyn and will Carn wins well I love I had her on for this episode when we did 42 and 42 I think she's great based off of these people and how stuck up Rodney ass they were I don't know because Dan definitely votes for him yeah which is crazy I feel like Tyler was upset with Carolyn so that's two I guess Sherin yeah okay maybe Carolyn still wins yeah I'm going through yeah Carolyn probably still wins that's my fault it's V but what are we Jeremy we'll start with you what are our thoughts on Rodney as a character as a character I not a fan of his personality but I do see like glimmers of like an actual strategic game that he's playing I mean like you like you see after the waen vote he's pissed at Mike because you know he just blindsided him and so he makes sure he changes his game to where he makes sure his other relationships are more secret and so he gets Tyler and he gets

12:06 Carolyn and will and they start picking off the people one by one but yeah his mouth just gets him in trouble I think if he kept it quiet and kept it cool he could have been a really good player yeah I think part of him I he clocks me I agree with you 100% he clocks me as a guy who thinks that his mouth is like doing him way more work than it really is I think he maybe this is just all guys from Boston I don't know I don't want to speculate I think he think himself as like he's that guy you know what I mean I but he clearly had an understanding of the game I think he suffered from what I think most of the and we may be talking about this in a second he suffered from what most of the men this season suffered from which is just a crippling fragility and in so many different colors it's so it's so from and I mean I'm includ fragility I love that there's an unhinged with almost all of them in such like a sense the way that will goes off on Shireen the just the [ __ ] that Dan says

14:47 And I just keep thinking back to caram moan with Sherry sitting there saying you know you guys are favorites and we're fans and every final tribal of watched since car moan I just keep waiting for someone to go oh well you guys are blood and we're water or you guys are brains and bronze but you know I'm a beauty and it obviously doesn't happen but with no C it does happen worlds aart during a final speech no oh well not during the final no I'm just talking about final oh I know it's it's all across the season and that's what we're talking about like all across the season everyone has continues to bring up the fact you know Blue Collar people like we when Mike is trying to convince Dan that the group is flipped and he's like we built this camp with our hands and he's like you understand once it's like the rert effect it's like you understand this is not real right like just because you are on this blue collar tribe does not mean you have to make it your entire personality and that's what happens with a lot of people on the season and a lot of questions that are directed towards them it's like oh yeah we want you to answer a question as if you were if you're no col like oh you don't you don't care about anything it's like that's not true but let me play into it

16:07 Do we think that this theme is dumb let's just go with dumb because it's I mean I can't think of another word that really I had never heard of no collar until this season came out Jeremy as the fan of the season do you think they could have split the tribes up another way that would have made more sense or do you think that we had to have what we got I actually think the no callar makes sense and I'm actually a fan of the theme because you can definitely see all of like the different aspects of their stereotype within each tribe I mean like let's take no you have Vince who's like this free spirit like hippie person and then you have the blue clawler tribe who like they need like one leader but they're all working together makes sense and then you have the white collar tribe which I always felt like someone was trying to fight for power and you see that in episode one with Wen and the kind of like the advantage that the captains got and they were the only tribe that CHS for themselves and not the entire tribe and so I think cat like I think that casting did really good with getting people for each of those aspects so

17:28 Yeah I'm I've never seen Will's YouTube video but apparently it was very viral I've never seen it I still have never seen it I don't think I ever want to watch it because yeah but like he was YouTube sensation because he had like he had like a viral video or a few whenever this aired Mark do you like this do you like the way the tribes are split up this season it's okay I mean it's I it's executed well it is interesting and I do think it's interesting to see what the cast does with it more so than the idea itself in contrast just in my own watch season I watched before the one I'm currently on before I pause to do this was Millennials versus J X and it's interesting to see a season where people were actively trying to go and advertise that they were the opposite of the label place before them which is what you would think would happen versus this season I think this is a different time that long I don't even think we're 10 years ago from I don't think this years ago I looked it up it 2015 that I think

18:49 2015 that's a wild that's a wild year for our country and like our culture and I think it was a time where people were very proud to be who they were and to declare that and so I think that's why you get a lot of like yeah man we're free Spirits we're we don't know who we're voting for and like I can see why it kind of played itself into that like we were at a time where our country was literally like trying its best to draw lines and divide and like hey what are we what are we all doing here what are we all they allite under the America Banner at the end of the day we get our one of the most iconic for bad reasons I guess or I mean it could be a good reason one of most iconic merge names of all time in America and you know confessional where she's just like yeah these people are brain dead and they are but I mean it's withstood the test of time people remember the if you don't remember anything else from Worlds AP part you remember the name of the merge tribe so as the game you know the game starts we have these different tribes and linday you know that falls into another long line of lindies that don't make the merge declares that the winner is g to come from Blue

20:09 Collard and that is like her only real storyline of the Season except for her mini rivalry with Rodney and she says it all the way to the end and we do get that winner in Mike hallowe which we've talked a little bit about on the nollar tribe you know history is going to look poorly on another person on this tribe that's not will but just ingame I felt like no CER was fine like they it was nothing not blue collar was definitely the tribe that like stood out the most to me this season and of course they you know they have the winner and whatever but like they're also winning a lot so we shouldn't be spending a lot of time with them and I do feel like we do get to learn a lot about most of them with the exception of maybe Kelly P they were picked off pretty you said what they were picked off I mean other than Shireen they were no I'm talking about blue collar no but I'm saying like the yeah you're right the white collar picked off yeah so with white collar it's once again it's just kind of until they get together or until they swap I don't really care about anything in the season at all there's nothing to really lacked on to pre- swap Jeremy would you agree as the fan I have to keep clarifying this as the fan

21:29 Is there anything pre- swap that you found compelling or that you kind of got behind not really yeah the Prem merge it was or I guess before the pre- swap even the swap really it was just kind of I guess Watkin's vote but like yeah those like first few votes it was it's kind of a snoozefest un unless you count the only thing that I laugh at is the max wart thing and the Max hold up bro thing which once again is it's so great Jeff's is not just not about it's like oh that's fun and then so yeah we get to the walking Blind Side and we hit the merge and this is one and a long line of Joey amazing doesn't know how to play social or strategically because soon as they hit the merge everyone just immediately starts targeting him and he has no way you know and he shows us through three seasons he unless you have Jeremy protecting you Jeremy and Savage protecting you well really just Jeremy you are you and you're Joe you're screwed almost every single time you go to the merge and he had to win I think he won two or three no he won the first two

22:49 I think he won three challenges in a row it was like two reward okay and then soon as he's as soon as the necklace is off Joe goes see you I'll see you next season I think I think we're at the part where we to find out oh God this is so uncomfortable and we hit the merge and you know blue Mike to his credit is trying to keep Blue Collar strong you despite all the mess that went on you know right before the Swap and then right when The Walking vote happened he still wants to stick with the crew and he stumbles upon right after the Joe vote he stumbles upon Rodney making this plan to take him out and I think that you know both of y'all have given credit to Rodney as a strategist I'll say to yeah he's pretty good at the strategy thing fine I'll admit it and he does clock Mike as a threat and we get to what used to be the final auction that we ever had up until two seasons ago how could Mike gone about this a little bit because I do think this is where he obviously this is where he fumbled but also do we blame him for it no is there a way that he could have just been

30:52 Yeah and that's all it takes sometimes for someone to just like okay I'm done with this guy even though you know everything he's saying starts to come to light as being the truth all they can latch on to is what happened at this I do agree with that and that episode is basically the where everything comes to a head in the season because we have two different fights during that episode well three if you count Mike and Dan but you have Mike versus Rodney and then you know so and Rodney you know is pissy and Carolyn's like oh no like what are you talking about you're crazy and then we have the moment with will and Sh and we're going to touch on it because whatever and it's so funny because it was Jen and Mike that were SED she was just standing like from what we're shown it just seems like she was just the one standing there and Tyler who we haven't talked about because he doesn't exist but he's always he's clocked as a master strategist Tyler goes and runs and tells will and then stands there with a [ __ ] grin on his face as stuff starts to unfold Jeremy when the season first aired I remember there was an article you know talking about that specific episode and how it's like one of the worst and blah did you find it compelling or were you just kind of

32:13 Uncomfortable definitely uncomfortable I mean I think I mean like I've I was been watching Survivor since you know day one but I think back then like in really early Seasons I was too young to really kind of remember like understand anything like of that nature that would go on but like this was like the first time where I was just like damn like these people are just they're vile and it's really uncomfortable to watch and I can't imagine like how uncomfortable it was for the people actually there like it's just it's not fun to watch yeah Mark you've watched it how many times over the last month my favorite scene love it no it's not fun it makes me think of a Dave Chappelle joke of you know just I wonder what she said to him I want I it's because that's how bad it is it makes me I wonder I want that's the unedited footage I wanted to see that was the raw cut is just like because I feel like it probably went on for longer that like I don't want to

33:34 And obviously there was a back and forth I mean you do see her defending herself I mean she's very proud for how she defended herself you know later in her in her jury speech and so I really wonder I really want to see the whole him coming back and confronting and what is said back to him and then how do we get from him hearing that news to you have nobody at home who cares about you and nobody loves you and I'm like that's something like a something going on deep inside of you that's something I hurt like elementary school kids says because they it's the meanest thing they can think of when you're an adult and you say that yeah something happened to you as well like I just it's very it's I of course the show is going to sensationalize it they kind of have to it's either that or you tri trivialize it and then definitely not yeah that's probably so what you get is you know it being a thing at the reunions we're gonna talk about how some of the men talk to some of the women this season that's exactly what you the worst part of that

34:54 Is shireen's talking to was like saying he has an oliz or whatever or she says something at the reunion and Will's family being stereotype just starts screaming from the stands at like and I'm just like do you understand how horrible this man was to like this is not an edited this is not a blame the edit thing yeah because even if it's an edited version of what happened you see what happens and that was you know when I had Carolyn on this I did 42 and 42 I asked her why do you think people hate the season so much and she mentioned the fact that I think people latch on to something that happened that was only happening like 10 minute period and like the rest of it was fine but they only showed they only showed that and that is like you know who's to say right and it seems like at least post that season it seemed like a lot of them got along I know that a lot of them don't get along now but post that season the dirty 30 was like this big thing it's like they were their own little click because everyone hated their season and they were so close together and that is you like I said that's changed but I fail to see how people you know solve just that moment was like oh that's the only negative

36:14 Thing when like the season is plagued in negative [ __ ] you just Rodney's Rodney think about women and right during the linday vote and Jeff's like you understand like that is very offensive to and Rodney doesn't he looks as if you know what do you mean like that women should hold themselves to high standard like how's that so do you understand how crazy that is Rodney who drinks pee look it up but we the season kind of runs into this Redemption Island type problem or like a one world problem or something like that where the winner becomes very apparent at a certain point in the season and it's like okay well this person there is literally nobody else that could win now just based off of what we're being shown and the fact that Mike is getting zero negative content ever he throws up on a scorpion and that's pretty much it for Mike Holloway negative content in the season because even the way the auction scene is shown it's like we're supposed to be we're supposed to be empathetic to what's going on right there because of what we had just seen right beforehand do you feel like and I know you said that the first time you watch this

37:35 You know Winner's edits and I feel like I didn't know what a winner edit was at that point either did the white did the Mike win become apparent to you Jeremy at any point or did you think someone else might pull this off at some point and the initial watch no like I would tune in I believe it was still on Thursdays back then I would like tune in every Thursday like I hope Mike makes it through like he has to but then like after like rewatching it I mean you can definitely see like even with the big blowout with Will and Sharin how does it end Mike coming in grabbing Sharin and pulling her off and so yeah like kind of like you said like Mike doesn't get a lot of negative screen time compared to pretty much everyone else on the season yeah even the Carolyn is Carolyn and Tyler all shown watching that moment and just kind of letting it happen or like shown smiling at it do you think that there is a way like is do you think there's another way they could have edited the season to add some type of mystery to it or do you think this is how they had to go with it I think with this type of season it's

38:55 What they had I think yeah it's kind of like I would say it's kind of like island of the idols after the stuff that happened with Dan in that season it became very like apparent that Tommy was gonna win spoilers for people watching nine days from now but yeah I mean like I think throughout the entire season they had to show glimmers of Rodney wills and Dan's Behavior to lead up to it and then they just sprinkled in stuff about Mike some good things about mam C because she was in the final three but then after the big blowup it was here you go here's your winner on a silver platter yeah Mark did I mean I know you hopped in on this season later when you were watching it did you know like did you catch on to what was going on or did you think that there was going to be other front run did you see other Front Runners from what you were watching or did you think that M had I caught on to what was going on because it was working on me because I it was what it was working on me because even I was sitting there and I was just like hell yeah brother every I'm also doing the happy dance
