The Challenge CBS: Latest Cast update ft Angelcake

0:01 [Music] welcome back to the nullified take and reality realness channel here on youtube where we're going to be talking about the challenge cbs for two weeks in a row i'm joined by chantel francis from reality realness and drew from the angel cake entertainment channel it's been a whole week since we spoke shintel how is things sitting on your end you've had a week to digest and think about this cast you know you've had an opportunity to talk to michelle on your part on your podcast your channel as well how are you guys feeling as a whole you can speak on behalf of michelle as well i definitely you know i both of us come to the agreement that we're excited for content because we do like the format of the challenge and we both like the fact that we know all the people that are going onto the show and playing like we have some sort of you know reference points which is one of the pluses that i do like about the challenge is that there's a familiarity

1:22 With the people that are going on to play so those were all the pluses the one plus the one new piece of information that came up was that janelle who was asked and declined basically said that some other people that were kind of in her eight like age bracket and her kind of you know grouping of people they just climbed playing when they heard when they saw like these the supposed list and so they saw that like okay love island already have a group of people together and big brother has a huge group of people together i'm just me lonely oh me from like my season yes i'm from survivor but i haven't been playing from you know 10 years from now like ago and so she's saying that a lot of people actually said no to the opportunity because it was saturated with the other people so i'm still curious as to how it's going to all play out i'm a little bit more optimistic with the outcome than maybe i was when i first heard about this concept thank you sophie we'll put it towards my computer fund it's on my list so he says here that the only good thing about challenge cbs is that we won't get that many big brother people appear on the mtv challenge anymore i don't know if that is going to be the truth drew i've got a feeling and welcome to the podcast as well drew i've got a feeling that this will become the vetting ground

2:42 For future mtv challenge main show people like if you've got a couple of standouts on the season i wouldn't be shocked if they ultimately make their way over to the main show and i've also heard that derrick f is not on the challenge cbs because he's a lock 438 at this point i think he's in the talks but in here is a lock that's what i've heard oh i really hope that it's still in talks that it's no locks just yet i don't know if this will be a betting ground or if they're really trying to make this like its own thing like if i feel like with all first go kind of shows like this i feel like it will get a lot of viewers i've already talked to because i'm in an org right now a survivor org and i just talk about the challenge in a lot because people ask me what i do and so i tell them i make videos about the challenge and they've heard of this like the people that i play with have heard of this but don't really watch the challenge they'll be like oh well i'll check this out because i like survivor players or i've like some of the big brother players that are also going to be on there so i do think that this first season we'll have a lot of viewership and viewers and then we'll get that means that we'll get greenlit for another season maybe two maybe three but i don't know if it will be the vetting ground or if they're really just trying to make this its own thing as well as maybe

4:02 We'll see a bridge going over to mtv if they get a lot of like good viewership and a lot of views over here and we talked about or at least i talked about the ratings over on the mtv challenge not being as highly or as good as in past seasons so i mean if they see a lot of good views over here with these players they're going to sit there and go why not we bring those players over to the other one too and see if that will help out the ratings when that's not really what we're looking for at all these aren't the players that are trying we're trying to bridge over to the mtv it's completely different but that's where it's like nerve-wracking a little bit when you're thinking about what's possibility in the future so that's where my brain goes to and yeah which it with janelle by the way i feel like it's really would be tough for her as a legend of such a long time in big brother that i mean she would have had a huge target on her back regardless i think unless you had like a whole bunch of like one people from all different seasons like one person from one season one person from a different season and there was no co-mingling outside the group but as we're gonna go through the list i mean they're just co-mingling all over the place i mean everybody is just sauteing in that same pan with each other last summer juice yeah i do want to add one more thing is that my mom is

5:22 Actually for the first time interested in the challenge i've made her watch a couple of seasons and she's enjoyed it and so she does know some of the main players but she is the demographic kind of she's like oh i only started watching because i wanted to see natalie i know oh i saw like all the big brother people because she does watch big brother regularly so i'm here in this podcast you should tell you probably would have never met me if it wasn't for the fact that you know the big brother faction jumped onto the challenge now do i like the big brother players that are currently on mtv's the challenge no like i'm with you guys it's not the best it's not the cream of the crop but i've been i've been preaching this the whole time i've been saying like there's gonna be so many new fans that watch cbs that have never watched the challenge the challenge has been going on for 40 seasons there are people that have played this game for over a decade and for a new person to get into that fandom is very difficult when they don't have that history with bananas or ct and they don't know the history of the bananas bag or any of the things that happened way back you know the backpack oh my god my mom was telling me about that the other day she's like oh and there's like this bananas backpack thing have you heard about this i'm just like oh gosh like get out of here like i can't even right now the one thing though

6:42 Is that i don't particularly vibe with big brother casuals so i just don't know if i want big brother casuals having a say in my favorite show like i found this show long time ago i'm a loyal fan i don't want people to come and like over saturate the fandom and take it over when they're not even like good true loyal fans and they're casuals you know facebook moms basically you know you know the type so yeah lovable nikki saying here that this forks challenge is going to be more accessible than mtv so many people do not have cable anymore so i do think with that it's gonna definitely gonna become a bigger thing and chris says that we stand chantelle's mom as well and also we've got a new person here in the life ayotel saying since i usually am not able to join this central european time i'm happy to finally join in on one of the lives we are happy to have you here as well it's so great to always have is it are you the one something i'm just wondering what's the l then are you the one l love are you the one are you the one love i don't know are you the one yeah a little bit of bob molly one love are you live are you the one local anyways i just saw those like i know that grouping of letters together and it's already the one so i'm wondering if that's what their an acronym for

8:02 Their name is anyways yeah well in any case we've had a full week now to digest and also obviously we jumped on and did our live last week as soon as we heard the information we couldn't contain ourselves and we said let's jump on a podcast talk about it and then obviously within three or four hours after the life they changed a few things around as they normally do but we would rather be early get on here talk to you guys brainstorm you know do our therapy in regards to what we love and hate for this upcoming season and get it out of the way but let's look and review a few things that we know for sure at this stage we know that tj levin is going to be the host we know that the location is going to be an over in argentina they departed on the 10th and the 11th of march from miami florida overall 28 competitors three from the amazing race eight from survivor nine for big brother eight from life island and then four alternates the alternates currently have three love island people in it so hopefully that does even the playing fields a little bit in regards to their love island big brother alliance but there's one from survivor on the as well you're looking confused they shouldn't health no i'm just saying it doesn't really level the playing field because like they removed two but it was like it was people that like there's still a large amount of people that are from big brother

9:23 And from lava island because one person that's an alternate now florida she wasn't on the original list that we saw last week so that's another love island person that wasn't even part of the conversation and then shannon's real-life boyfriend is an alternate and we just thought he was part of the cast so not like but shannon's still part of the cast and then the other person corey's gone so i guess that's a little bit helpful for that like kind of to what you're saying and then there's one other person i can't remember right now but it is just still tons of people from love island is my point thank you sophie for the super chat yeah so sophie is saying here that maybe we'll see a crossover in the future between cbs and mtv we can only hope that something like that happens down the line and i think if it if it does have a crossover it would be the war of the worlds crossover with mtv because you'll get great people from argentina from the uk and also from australia that will play so this is only the start of the journey so yeah you're getting i'm gonna just complain though slightly and we say this every week that i really hope that they make the other countries really accessible because that is actually what i'm most excited about with this new idea this war of the worlds like i really would like to

10:43 Easily be able to watch all the other franchises being able to podcast right live and have people that are part of the fandom that are easily able to watch each episode not being like hey can you do a watch party so we can watch it like i would love it for it to be super easy forever to be able to participate and be part of this fandom and have the fandom grow that way so i'm just i know that we can't always get what we want but i just want to put that out there one more time just because it's just really frustrating to me knowing that like it's probably going to be a bit of a challenge to be able to watch it yeah a challenge drew you've got the biggest platform out of the three of us here and you do you know the challenge videos on a weekly basis can you have like a bitching session maybe and like you know make a whole video about making it more accessible to the wider audience because everybody wants to see it i feel like if you did it there's a bigger chance that people may see it compared to myself or chantel jumping on our you know soapbox over here and shouting it out but i agree with shantel we need to see all of the different versions of the show and we want to we don't want to just shout for our little like offenses me living over here in australia new zealand i don't want to just shout for the australians and be like i only like team australia you know it's great to shout for your country but you want to enjoy all of the characters that are there you want to know all of them and isn't the reason why we were just

12:03 Talking about the fact that most people don't watch the regular challenge because mtv is a specialty channel so then they're making like part of this new series on three specialty channels around the world it just seems a little bit disjointed with what the intention is for this new franchise chris saying the google doc is very official i can't take any off the creator for that this was put together by none other than drew angel cake he did all the hard work for us putting this together i love that you say hard work but it's like 39 pages a majority is like a picture book like when you get to the player profiles over half the page is just pictures so that's the important thing we need to know who we're talking about one of the things from these love island people it'll be a giant picture and then two little tiny bullet points and then we'll be on to the next page yeah like olivia winner and it's one of the things that stood out for me we've got two winners in the alternates here we've got olivia and then also mike holloway which who we'll talk about in a little bit here are you guys shocked by any of the people who didn't make it on the actual show and that became alternates are you happy with this i don't know the love island people so i heavily rely on both chantelle and drew to help me on the love island side of things but i'll talk about mike

13:23 Holloway i'm more than happy to have my two scenes on that one but i guess we'll start with you drew are you shocked by some of these omissions and do you think this is the right call or would you have swapped them with anybody else i think it's difficult to say because three of the four are love island and we don't know what to expect from them i do think and please correct me if i'm wrong chantelle that if i think that olivia and josh both have an athletic background like they both played sports growing up so i feel like they would have been able to like transition into the game and be more athletic and i know olivia you mean shannon get out shannon well i'm talking about just the alternates oh i'm sorry okay i understand yeah no i was just talking about the alternates that olivia and josh both who are two alternates i think both have like an athletic background i know josh played baseball i don't know if to what extent i know college i don't know if he went to the minor leagues high performer like in baseball i can't remember olivia specifically i know that shannon his current girlfriend that he met on love island she's like a tumblr so she does cheerleading and stuff like that so she's definitely gonna be pretty athletic i was watching her do some like tumbling passes and yeah she's definitely gonna be really strong so shannon

14:43 But she's on the main cast i don't remember olivia being that athletic and i don't remember her even working out that much on the show definitely cachet was always into fitness and working out on the on the show now and then so i don't remember though olivia her being that athletic to be honest i'm thinking go ahead we're missing out josh and shannon kind of like i'm surprised that because we have shannon that josh isn't in it and the same thing when josh was on it that shannon was an alternate then completely taken out then brought back in and then josh was reluctant to the alternate the only person that i'm kind of shocked at is florida we got she was on the show for nine days and then she was gone like she didn't have that big of an impact at all but i guess if you need somebody in a pinch she was like right there to say yes so i don't blame her for taking this opportunity to possibly be on the show so but it is kind of shocking to me out of the four that she was on but for sure thank you sophie for the super chat yeah definitely it took sophie's saying it took cbs a long time to get on the challenge train since chalice came before any of the cbs reality tv shows and i think we kind of alluded to it a little bit in the beginning it's just the format of the show that's such a great format and i'm convinced

16:03 You know as soon as people get into it they see what it's about they're gonna love it they're going to watch it i know for a fact being on this side of the of the globe in australia they love sports like australians love sport so they're going to be taking that side and they've got personalities don't worry about it i know everybody's very fearful of just becoming another sports show out there if they have got great personalities so i think that the show is going to be it's going to be very popular on the side here we don't have a great representation of australians on the challenge to date so we won't name who's been there before but you know i'm very optimistic cautiously optimistic about this i do want to talk about mike a little bit here as one of the four alternates that didn't make it and i saw a comment a little bit earlier here from cd a frequent listener off the channel so cd thank you for being a part of the live again cd says i'll take mike over ben any time and i did think it was quite interesting that mike again is the one that potentially won't be on the season he had five individual immunity wins he basically challenged beasted his way through his season to the end to win his season right and that is exactly what you want on a show like the challenge you want someone who firstly he's no slouch when it comes to being confrontational like he pretty much ran his alliance in his season he was the main guy and then when he fell

17:24 Out of favor because he tried to play too many sides he was very vocal and really stood his ground against so many people who wanted to get him out and he's got a big personality so i think personality wise him and ben are kind of similar in that way they are both quite confrontational they won't stand back but when it comes to challengeability mike is so much of a better competitor compared to ben and i don't hate being as much as everybody else but if you compare the two to each other i'm shocked that mike isn't on this cast ahead of ben were you guys shocked by this at all or do you think this is just you know to be expected because mike hasn't been on the show any kind of reality show for a while so people might think that he's not as relevant anymore i think my first instinct is the fact that he just got married so i'm wondering if he didn't think that he was going to be able to do it at all and then when they finally got the dates he was like oh i'm interested like i can make those dates and maybe they already kind of solidified the rest of the cast and so that's kind of what i'm thinking has happened because like literally he just got married like a couple months ago to meg from big brother so yeah that's what i'm that's what i'm guessing is that he didn't think that timing-wise it was going to line up and then after they kind of had solidified the cast already then he said oh i am kind of available and so that's why he's

18:44 Kind of a last-minute addition that he'll be like to step in if something happens but he wasn't part of part of the original thought process i think because ben was on the winners at war and made it so far that i think i feel like he would have been the first one called instead of mike just that's my opinion i think because of the recency that ben has been on not only winners at war but also season 35. i mean mike was great on his season but that was season 30 and then we haven't seen him back in forever so i mean it would have been cool to see him and the dynamics and what he would do on the show and how he would be able to play it and i mean there's still a shot that he i mean he is an alternate he's down in argentina with everybody so but yeah i think ben was the first call and then i think mike maybe took too long to answer with the dates and then got reluctant to alternate but yeah sophie says that she could see you be on big brother chantelle oh my god tell that to robin cass please tweet i'd love to it definitely big brother would be the show that i think i would have the best shot at doing really well at i mean i think i'd win any show that i would go on but i

20:04 Think i would have the easiest path doing big brother it's a little bit cushier and i think i know the game a lot better well on the topic of big brother let's look at the big brother players that are going to be on this season and also some of the connections that they have drew once again did a really good job here at connecting a few people we can see that tiffany is going to be the nucleus no surprise to anybody there because she is a great social player great strategist i think she's going to do well this season and she's very well connected with a wide range of players we even have a survivor player in chantal that is also associated with this group they've hanged out they've hanged out outside of the game we can see there's a little bit of a photo there in the top right hand with a certain wendell a chantal i see rockstar there i forgot the girl in the front right to davey which is a big brother player i know she's from big brother but there's a lot of connections and a lot of these guys hanging out outside of the game do you think drew that this is going to be the power alliance this year like you know in this challenge cbs because i kind of feel like this is going to be the nucleus of what everything like survivors coming in with such a potential you know handicap coming up against a group

21:24 Of friends that hang out because you're going to want to play with your friends yeah 100 i mean i think we talked about it last week when we said that tiffany was going to be the most padded player she was going to be the protection or she would have so much protection and she does i mean she has a lot of players from big brother 23 her season along with how many people i just i just skimmed her instagram just for the couple of posts and these are the posts that showed up that i thought were relevant in connecting some of the dots and just seeing just seeing david chantel cinco and then their connections within their own franchises i think that tiffany is just going to be kind of going on easy street for a good portion of this game yeah chantelle you know tell us about this group here what can we expect here with this group moving forward and do you think that xavier you know is his best interest to stay with this group or should he be the one that tries to branch out to other groups because i feel like they're not going to hand him another win no matter how much they love him at some point he's going to be low men in the totem pole here well he's going to recognize how effective it was to stay loyal to that group even though it wasn't for you know tiffany's for instance best

22:44 Interest and so i can see him not knowing how to play any differently you know he hadn't he didn't he's coming onto a season with the majority of the people that he just played another season with that gave him 750 000 i don't think he's gonna be like you know what this formula you know it's not good for me i'm gonna go and try it out on my own and be like you know it's a sole target and like super muscular guy that like obviously people would just keep on throwing him in if he wasn't protected by everybody else so i don't think there's any way that he's not going to rely on this group in reality tv world this is all that he really knows how to play the numbers game he's not familiar i don't think with the challenge he didn't i don't remember him talking about wanting to go on the challenge beforehand oh is alyssa not on it anymore on this list or did we forget her face i think she just yeah it's an interesting point she is still on it right drew yes if you go over to the other big brother picture in this okay there's a bigger connection of everybody that's on the big brother side together that was just like a together picture of just you know i'm just making sure i'm just like i would listen to me that's just tiffany's gotcha well i mean alyssa's also dated a little bit

24:04 Xavier in the game or after sorry after the game and so there might still be a tie there like i don't know how things ended between them i just do not see him turning on the big brother people i think that he's going to need to be insulated in there just because he's just would be such a standout person that's like let's get rid of him as soon as we can because he's tall he's handsome he just won like he's familiar with this particular game show i think that he's going to be target number one out of this group anyways yeah can i ask chantelle can i ask you a question real quick do you think that there will be a point in this season where we could see kylan trying to take out xavier for just how everything went down between them during big brother they had a very salty spicy ending when kylen had to leave the game and there was some questioning on whether xavier was a good role model for his nephew so i wonder will that still be in there will that rivalry still be kind of festering within them and then at a certain point colin's gonna be like i gotta i gotta take my shot like i can't lose another game to him do you think that's a possibility i do he i think that

25:25 Kylan is so jealous of xavier you know one of the reasons why he started to make bad game decisions is because he thought that xavier was the best player in the game and i think that he learned to not necessarily want to play that route again being like oh my god i want to get the best player at the end so i can beat them instead like xavier cut him just like obviously they're gonna cut he's gonna cut you're his competition but that wasn't the game that kylan was playing and so i wouldn't be surprised if kyland is planning his revenge and since he has like i don't know he's kind of dating tiffany i can see tiffany going in there and be like no don't do that don't break up our alliance and kind of stepping in there but i can see him wanting to get revenge one up on xavier get him out like i think he's going to be the turncoat hangout room here with 35 south african rand i've not read anything on the challenge news so waiting on you guys for the record i'm pro survivor players and any and not for big brother big brother sucks and for those who are new to the challenge you're gonna hear a lot of big brother sucks because of the big brother players that are currently playing on the main show but yeah i think that the big brother alliance is going to be one of the more interesting ones out there

26:45 Because of the messiness of you know how close they are and who had to cut who in what order i think xavier you're right he's probably going to stick with him i mean it's not like the guy really needs the money and he's also athletically able to win one or two if he actually needs to the ultimate showdown would be a kailan versus xavier hall brawl or somewhere where they can get their hands on each other i do feel bad for xavier because it's going to go very bad colin is an absolute animal he's oh so really i was thinking that like kylan would be like you think he's going to be the big boy and then he's just going to get taken down by xavier does xavier have any experience in i guess physical altercations like has he done any kind of like contact sport or anything like that could be the difference but if they both have the same amount of experience when it comes to context board it really just comes down to a weight difference in these things there's a reason when you look at mixed martial arts you look at all these different things you've got white divisions you've got a featherweight heavyweight white you know distribution and having a bigger physique and a thing like a whole brawl it's not smart it's like i think xavier would be very good at anything else that it requires a little bit more agility and athleticism but if it's just pure strength that we're talking about and having to throw your weight behind

29:25 Name they haven't necessarily played with these guys before they haven't necessarily hung out with them outside of the game i can see them very easily being the swing vote they'll obviously try and latch on to whatever big brother has got but i do think that they could go either way here and they potentially have some of the more interesting strategic options available to them coming into the season i wouldn't be surprised if enzo has some connections with some of these survivor players because enzo's an old school big brother player and there's some old school survivor players on here as well i wouldn't be surprised if enzo and tyson have met somewhere at like hearts of reality or something like that you know so potentially they may have some connections that we're not aware of how do you guys feel about enzo and angela do you think they'll take the obvious route of sticking to big brother drew go to you first here you go okay so can i just say that enzo if you watch big brother 22 all-stars there's not an alliance this man will say no to i mean he just makes alliances with anybody and everyone whoever comes up to him will just you'll just say yes he'll be like the meow says yeah i like your vibe let's do this thing so he will say yes to a big brother lens he'll say yes to a survivor alliance he'll say whatever i do think that he will probably feel a little bit more

30:46 Comfortable with the survivor players because of the age range that they're kind of like in but numbers wise i think he would love to be in the big brother alliance except for i think when it comes push comes to shove i mean he would be the first one kind of thrown in there he's the low man on the totem pole especially after how big brother 22 kind of went and i think that david is a lot more in with tiffany and he can say like this guy's a snake he had a whole bunch of alliances he went to the end nobody respect come on you think david's gonna be able to figure out something to say well after he's asked done asking like who is this guy he's talking about tj and then he's gonna be like what are we supposed to do why are we doing this why am i here what's the veto i think angela will be a little bit more insulated i do think that if they were to throw somebody in she could be one of the first members to be thrown into an elimination but i feel like she is one of the more competitive and athletic women on the actual season that she can win and win multiple eliminations and then be clear sailing like nobody would want to send her in over and over and over again especially if depending on how the finals are or if they're keeping in mind that we're going to

32:06 Be whoever the champion are going to be running the finals together in this big old tournament that they're going to be having later on so if she is shown to be a very strong competitor and all the guys are seeing that they might want to like protect her but it all comes down to numbers alliances and who plays safe and who doesn't i have another bet here let's but how much do we want to bet that chris is going to be stanning angela as much as he stands cara maria after the season being like oh she's so good such a good competitor we need her back here we need to see her again like she got raw or whatever it is i feel like angela is going to be your new cara maria crush your new athletic female crush hey i like the athletic beasts out there that go out and kick button and listen all the shade for kara maria is still the only female to ever win against men on the challenge so i don't know why there's always bloody youth coming my way you know so yeah not all of us like tori as much as you should tell you know so but no like listen i'm very interested to see what she's gonna do and i agree with drew she's gonna be athletic i mean if i had to choose out of the big brother females that are coming to the season who would i want to be partnered with angela is the person i want to be partnered with

33:26 Because i think she's going to be she's got very much upside athletically now guys wise if you had to choose a guy to be aligned with chantelle i've got a feeling i know you'd go for xavier you kind of gave it away a little bit i think yeah i mean i never thought about it before and i wasn't really a fan of xavier on big brother i just felt that there was a little some a little bit of misogyny that was kind of going on near the end and so like i was i was kind of he was bothering me a little bit just like what i was seeing coming out in his character but as a competitor i think that he would be a good person to work with he seems really protective so you know we saw how he was always trying to take care of alyssa he wanted to protect her so i think that he would be a good partner in that way and i think he's actually quite physically strong i do feel like he's strongest out of all the men i mean maybe kylan but i just he seems more of a round yes a more round well-rounded partner i mean i think for the jokes i could go for enzo just because like it would be like around the same age and like you know we can like make fun of people and like we could probably have a good laugh and maybe you could be the cody to his male you know you could be the cody and just ride him all the way to the end and then win oh yes i guess

40:06 Casting choice which you agree to chantel reluctantly last week i remember that so let's see let's see what happens on that but overall this is an interesting dynamic i think that they're again outnumbered what is the best game plan here for survivor i feel like chantal is the only one coming in here with some sort of her potential out and she probably will be out very quickly because she's hang she's hung around some of these big brother players which is going to give them even more power early on what's the game plan here drew like what does survivor need to do to actually find a way to stay in the game is going into eliminations and winning one after the other the only option for them at this point and the game hasn't been started yet but i think i think you kind of brought up something that i didn't even think about and it is that they are disjointed i mean comparatively to the love island competitors and the big brother competitors who where a good portion of the players coming in from those franchises played together i mean you have six players from big brother 23 and then you have four players from love island three kind of mingling in their own franchises so you see this and it's like okay there's a winners at war triangle you have a couple of other players and then you have two from season 41 who have maybe made connections outside of their survivor franchise and

44:07 It can be quite conniving and scheming and strategic you've got someone like sarah lesina who's part of one of the best duo alliances to ever hit the show with cops harass closely aligned with tony she won a game changes season which was played at a very fast pace back then i know compared to what we see now it seems slow but still there was some big players that she had to beat that season as well that came back you've got ben who's just recently played so obviously he's still in people's minds a lot of people i think forget that his way to the end and how he won his way to the end wasn't necessarily challenges it was getting immunity idols to get him there and then you've got someone like dominic who's probably the best to never win you know he lost on a on a draw vote at the end and probably some people would argue that he was the better strategic player that season like who do you think is the people that you are the most fearful of potentially going into an elimination early on and big brother in life island would look at them and say survivors scary like drew just said for all of those reasons we need to target xyz to be honest i don't think that the big brother and love island people will know a majority of these people they're not super fans of reality tv even tiffany was turned on to big brother and she liked it and started doing a little bit of homework but she hasn't been on this journey
