Survivor 42: Episode 9 Recap

0:01 Welcome back to the nullified tech but we've got the tnt takes for you on survivor 42 i believe it's episode 9 or 10 depending on where you get your information from but another week and another opportunity to talk to one of my favorite co-hosts here on the nullified take channel jake it's been a while i feel like it's been two weeks since we've had a proper chat and you've been really busy at uni or college or whatever you call it over there in the united states you're going into exams right now or it's getting close to exam season for you so it's less opportunity for me and you just have casual chat about survivor i guess so i'm really happy to have you back on the channel here this week you've only missed one of these episodes so far with us how have you been and you know how swings how's life is good it's been crazy with as you mentioned exams but it's really good to catch up with you chris because you're right we haven't really talked much the past two weeks but it's good to catch up with you yeah like dylan always good to have you in the live as well it's been a while since i've seen you in one of these lives as well welcome to the live stream today for me it's been super busy it's actually also it's getting to the end of financial here over here in australia and new zealand so we've got budgeting to do for the new financial year i've got board meetings like i had a board meeting last week that i had to prepare for

1:21 So i've been really struggling as well and then i've had all this off-season content that i've been working on in regards to the interviews for australian survival which i've had a lot of fun with but it sucks up all of that little bit of free time that you've had this week has probably been the best week for me and not putting a lot of content out there i've actually had a little bit of opportunity just to relax because it can be full on you know jumping on podcasting and doing a lot of video content all the time but i'm really excited to talk to you about this episode you know we i think have a lot of strategy unfolding here and i think we're starting to see who the clear front runners at the moment for survivor 42 really is who's the people who's gonna go all the way potentially and win the show we've had our eye on a few different people throughout the season obviously i didn't have much of an opportunity to talk to you last week jake but you know what did you think of mike's strategy and high strategy from last week and letting rocks go and the aftermath of that sort of following us in here in the early parts of this episode where mike is still very upset about the fact that i pushed him into a corner clearly that was not a good move by high you know in hindsight you know it was probably [Music] felt right at the time but clearly mike that gave omar all the ammunition he needed to you know tell one lie to mike

2:41 And it just all fell apart for high and also hi it seemed like he has a bit of he had a bit of cracks in his social game as well because no one really stood up for him no one really went to bat for him when his name was being thrown around it's kind of seemed like everyone was just like okay sure so yeah i think that last week definitely contributed to it all kind of coming to come and tumbling down for him but seems like there were a bit of cracks there already yeah abigail here in the live stream say jake is so cute that's my girlfriend right there i thought so i thought so yeah you didn't need to tell everybody else though you know they could have just thought it is a fan off the show that thinks you're cute you know but i'm sorry that's right just i guess mute in and out as you're talking with that i agree with you hi definitely to me the biggest i think flaw in his game and we'll obviously talk about this a little bit more as we continue throughout this podcast but one of his biggest flaws for me was the fact that he was so willing to give up people that wanted to work with him i mean you look at lydia coming to mind you look at chanel coming to mind people who were part of that core group of alliance members or tribe

4:01 Members that he had pre-merged he was willing to sacrifice them up front to basically go and lie in bed with the enemy who he'd never actually played the game with prior to the merge and for some other reason in his mind the grass was greener on the other side and i think that for any new school player looking at this it's a flawed strategy to go into a merged tribe and immediately just to jump ship unless there's certain things and that we don't know because obviously we see an edited show i never fully understood that strategy and i thought that he was going to burn out i think we said it a few times he could be the ricard or the chantal of the specific season yeah i think that we saw it with high and kind of drea as well where it's like a new shiny thing was put in front of them with this like oh the other the other tribe members like this big alliance and they were just like yes and then they just abandoned you know lydia and drea abandoned romeo and hai was done with chanel and it just it didn't work out these are people that you haven't played the game with you've already established trust with these other players you should you know keep them with you not just bail at the first chance you have yeah in the meantime i mean they're giving taku the lead they're giving taku all these members from their tribe they're still there none of

5:22 Them have gone home and i honestly they've majority and so many fans have said to me jonathan's got no shot you know he's going to get voted out i think last week chantal was very bullish when she was on the podcast saying she thinks jonathan's going to get voted out next and i said i actually think it's high at that point i feel like it's a mystery for us to think that it might be jonathan but at the end of the day omar knows that he needs to stay tight with jonathan keeps keep tucker strong that's been his theme throughout this whole season and we know that omar is the person that is in the shadows making a lot of these moves happen and he's playing with people's emotions extremely well he's a very intelligent player could we see i know rickard called himself a legend last season i always find it funny when people call themselves a legend as a few people that think that omar is playing a record like game i think omar is running leagues around anything ricard did last season i think this guy could be if this guy goes to the end and he manages to win the season i think he's going to be one of the greats i am 100 with you like this guy in fact it's almost a concern with how well he's playing because when he gets to the end are people even going to realize that he was actually pulling the strings the whole time because he is but is he going to be able to convince them

6:42 That he was and i think i just think it's crazy that like at the merge like the talk of four they were ready to just split up and he was like i need them all to stay together for me to get to the end and that's exactly what he did he was the glue and brought them together and it's exactly it works so well for him to keep them all together because if he can really show how well he's playing this thus far i think he could really beat anyone at this point honestly i think so and i think also we've got a few people here in the live stream that i just want to say hello to flynn masters saying loving some survivor content at 1am in the morning you know it's mainly due to i guess the time zones here and jake sort of being in arizona we a little bit later than what we would normally do these recaps but very happy to have you here with us as well flip masters has got a great youtube channel as well go check that out everybody that is in the live stream duncan saying that omar isn't winning immunity like ricard he had like ricard had to depend on which is why omar is so good which is a great thing here because i don't think ricard ever really had the social bonds at all that omarez got like is in with everybody at this at this point dylan's saying unless they're under-edited a woman omar is

8:02 Winning yeah and we'll talk about that because i did look at this episode and thought to myself the survivor us producers they're not as obvious sometimes with who is going to win they do try i mean we had erica win last season which her edit i'm still not a fan of not her as a person or her as a winner but the way that she was edited it just even at the end i still failed to see the brilliance in her winning you know and that's not you know if you win you win you deserve it let's end the whole conversation there but it wasn't a great edit so there may be one or two people this season that me and you are not aware of yet and i've got my eye on someone at this point i've heard a few people say someone else when it comes to the woman i don't think drea is winning this because i think she's made the same mistakes that hai has made which is to cut her ties and get rid of people from her original tribe i don't think that there's a winning move andrea seems to be a one-woman show trying to advantage her way to the end i don't think she's winning this season but i do think that there could be between two different ladies on the island at the moment one of them could still win this i'm kind of curious to know jake who do you think could have the erica edited based on what we've seen so far or someone that's maybe not a hundred percent like erika but they're a little bit under the radar at the moment they could win the show you know yeah so they're i believe there's three women left at this point and

9:23 Four men so yeah of the three women i think everyone is kind of pointing at lindsay to maybe be the dark horse i'm actually gonna bet on the other horse marianne i think marianne actually has a pretty good shot with kind of the themes that we're seeing of kind of we've shown that she we've been we've been shown that she's actually smarter than she comes off she's had that she had that scene with tori where tori was like oh wow like you actually you're more than just you know a cute face you know you actually got some brains in you and you know she's found two idols she actually has some pretty good connections and if she can take out omar at the end i think she could and we kind of see like there's kind of like a theme of like kind of being yourself kind of being quirky you know and that is her to like the extreme of course and i think that you know it's not her edit is really not that far off from a typical woman winning and you know people kind of see her as like a big character and the big characters don't usually win but what if the big character does win

10:43 Is this what it what it looks like who knows yeah and it's funny how me and you we're like exactly on the same page at this point in the game because everybody is telling me lindsay and i'm like yeah lindsay's becoming i can see her she's getting that edit of rising right now like i did when it came to just before the merge going into the merge he had that rise but then he had to fall and i kind of feel like lindsay is going to see that fall and at some point jonathan which we'll talk about is going to know that he that she's coming for him and she's going to get cut because of that i can see the edit pointing us in that direction but when it comes to marianne i kind of feel like she could be that winner that we've not given her credit at all throughout the season she's never made like i think maybe made up top three once and all of our top threes that we've done throughout the season and i think a lot of the times it's because we have underestimated marianne because she's so high energy she's full on people are shown sometimes to feel like she's too much energy but she's been front and center of our screens like i do feel like if you look back at from the start to now have we been watching marianne's story out there have we been getting her story throughout and is this hero to the end to win and it's going to be an absolutely crazy ending where omar gets taken out before the end or if omar does get there like you said does i

12:03 Think omar is smart enough to explain his game it's just then going to be a case do the jury respect the fact that he was playing all angles and that he cut people along the way because he's also probably cut more people than anyone else and he's got no blood on his hands right now but at the end when he needs to you know show the receipts for what's happened out there that could be a blowback at that point in the game and i'm also very much i mean early on in this episode again we see marianne go and find an idol i mean she's found two idols this season no one knows about the second idol and she's just still there like she's not running the game strategically but i do think she's got a good social game there's still people who want to work with her and don't want to vote out has her name come up as like a person that they've wanted to vote at i know she was a decoy last week but i don't feel like she's been in the firing line all that often so far she was at the at the merge i believe she received two votes two or three votes along with jonathan when lydia went home but since then she's been pretty good i mean mainly she's just been with omer like omer wants her there so she's gonna stay pretty much because he just has so much power right now yeah he's definitely the glue that is keeping taku together which is something

13:23 I mentioned last week the one time that omar was not a part of the group that jonathan was in jonathan tried to take too much control overstepped his lines a little bit or the boundaries and try to dictate that vote yeah because omar was in there to keep him calm or to keep him on track you'd almost say christian welcome to the live stream as always it's always great to have you here omar's edited christian is saying is too good to be true i'm just saying i can see that like i mean it's going to be interesting because like flynn masters here in the live stream is saying he saw somebody make a good point at how survivor 41 to 42 are copies of each other but the winner will be polar opposite as erica is an under-edited winner while marianne is an over-the-top winner if she was to win or even omar like i feel like if omar wins we'll know why he won like his strategy is evident at the moment the way he's jumping in between different alliances and making them believe that he is with them i mean even in the beginning of this episode jake we see him take an opportunity when mike comes and lies down in the in the shelter and says to him that he feels really bad about the fact that he felt strong-armed into voting for roxroy who he gave his word to he felt like hai was strong-arming into him into it and how does omar feel about it and omar

14:43 You know he takes this information keeps it in the memory bank and he starts to create this rift between mike and i who's supposed to be an extremely tight two-person alliance out there he took one comment from mike one just one oh maybe it's the only one we saw maybe there were some more but from what we saw he took one comment from mike about he's like man i feel kind of bad about how you know high kind of you know pressured me into doing that vote and then it just he just concocted some it was a great lie i mean he knew exactly what mike wanted to hear i mean that's it was just perfect my when mike heard that it just completely flipped he's like yep i need to take him out i need to get rid of root of high even though he's been my closest ally for this entire game pretty much yeah and we're going to jump slightly forward because i want to keep on this conversation i think what omar does brilliantly here right is that at the camp he hears this he knows mike is upset he keeps that in the memory bank for later on then when they go to a reward challenge and they get to hear from home mike is visibly very emotional because he is an emotional guy like he's in tune with his emotions

16:04 He loves tai you know he's he doesn't want to be perceived as someone he isn't he's a deep guy this guy mike and i think omar is so good at reading mike in the situation and when mike is at his most vulnerable he's just heard from his family and he's emotionally letting his guard down omar chooses this is the brilliance of omar he chooses the opportunity to pitch him right at that opportune moment to say hi has you know been saying you're a puppet you're just doing what he wants you to do in the game i think you should be worried about this and because of that me and you haven't been able to form a connection you couldn't have chosen a better time to do it and i think the subtlety is something that a lot of people that want to go and play survivor need to really take on board like a plan can be a good plan but you got to choose the time when you're going to be engaging with someone or putting it out there and brilliant like i just i just bow down to the brilliance of exactly when because i think mike was at his most vulnerable at that point so yeah i mean i didn't think about it like that but that's a really good point i mean mike is already in his fields it's already been you know however many days without seeing his family he's probably thinking like just how badly he wants to win it for them

17:24 And right after hearing from his family and then hearing that his closest ally is calling him a puppet he's probably got to be thinking like my family would be so disappointed if i was a puppet to someone else like i don't want i don't want them to see me play as a puppy i want them to see me as the puppet master so he definitely chose a great time to concoct that lie it was just really brilliant honestly yeah it's funny it was lindsay's reward but actually more so omar's reward he was the one who actually got all the benefit out of that whole reward and we'll come back to the reward and lindsay's choices in a little bit i do want to talk about lindsay the next day though when they wake up after the votes lindsay goes to omar she lets omar know listen jonathan was going completely off the rails he wanted to do a vote where we were going to throw a hinky vote on marianne could have gone home we could have lost the idol we could have lost the extra vote and an alliance member we need to get rid of jonathan sooner rather than later and what i like about omar in this situation is we don't know how close jonathan and omar still is at this point because i feel like that relationship is not being shown to us as an audience any longer like that's just something that was there prior to

18:44 The merge but how close they are now we don't know one thing we do know is that omar sees the value in keeping taku strong so instead of just immediately shooting lindsey down and saying ah you know don't do that's you know that's a wrong move for us we need the taku tribe to be strong he does hear her out and talks with her about the possibility of that but i think in his mind he's already thinking no highest next i'm going to start putting the wheels in motion with mike i'm gonna get my way and not you know lydia's way in this specific or lindsay's way i should say in this specific episode what did you think of this little bit of an interaction there and also lindsay sort of trying to veer off from this taku alliance and maybe playing i know she's saying that jonathan is not her most favorite alliance member at this point but jonathan's not coming for her is this a good move for lindsay at this point to break away from jonathan it's tough because i think people see lindsay and jonathan as i think they see lindsay as kind of tied to the hip of jonathan so i think if she were to make it to the end with jonathan they'd be like well what did you even do like that he didn't and he was like more in the in the line of fire he had to you know he was more in danger he had to win immunities to you

20:04 Know keep safe so she definitely needs to break away from him somehow whether that's taking him out or whether like making a move that doesn't involve him or is like her plan i'm not sure exactly what the best plan of action is but i definitely think she needs to separate her herself from him i'm going to be reading some of these comments in a second i just wanted to bring up i did put on my channel a poll this week which i asked do you think that they made the right move here to get rid of high or should they have gotten rid of jonathan and i can say that in the community here that 67 of people said no it was the right move to get rid of high because he's too strategic and 33 of people said yes jonathan will jonathan will win his way to the end and a lot of comments i think when people started saying this was more based on the fact that they don't think jonathan can still win the game if he gets to the end at this point and that they've seen enough flaws in him and him getting annoyed with people or trying to push his strategy i don't think a lot of people think that he could win the game how do you sit on this at the moment because for me personally i don't think jonathan is completely out of this yet i think that personally and this is just my observation is that people are projecting a lot of what they don't like on

21:24 Jonathan as a player out there because of some of the conversations that happened last week and i think that when you look at society you know you might look at jonathan and say he looks like someone that i don't like but we don't know the intricacies of those relationships i mean he to me there's been enough times where he's looked like a very solid social player where people actually do want to keep him around even when he does not want immunity they haven't voted him out there's a reason for that he's made some connections that have made people not vote him out up until this point in the game to me that's impressive for a guy that is clearly so physical and stands out as a beast compared to these mere mortals around him you know i don't think jonathan is completely out do you think he's out because if he goes on a run from here till the end wins every single immunity and gets to the end does he have a case depends on who he's up against but in general i would say he's starting to draw dead because people are kind of seeing the flaws in his strategy or like what like the plans that he comes up with and maybe they're going to start to realize like it kind of seems like omer and lindsay are the ones kind of being the brains just by devil's advocate on that thought

22:44 There he said that people are starting to see the flaws in his plans that he's coming up with but who are the people that are really upset with him at this point like lindsay seems to be the most upset and we're getting it from her a lot she's one vote marianne wasn't too happy about the fact that she was gonna be someone that was up those are maybe the two that i see at this point vocalizing the fact that jonathan is playing a bad strategic game i don't think we've seen a lot of other players we've just seen lindsay talk to other players and give her point across but do you think that is the belief of everyone out there or do you think that is hyped up through lindsay and more so lindsay because marianne hasn't really spoken to that at all i think this episode i guess it in my head it was a bit hyped up from lindsay but i think if he were to make it to the end and let's say lindsay is either in the final three or on the jury i think she would be able to kind of show like didn't really you weren't really making the best moves out there it's more that you were just kind of with the right players in omar and lindsay and you know you he's just such a he was such a valuable player in the pre-merge but i don't yeah i do as abigail saying i don't think he's really

24:04 Been controlling anything at all yeah so abigail saying here jonathan hasn't made any individual moves that makes him stand out other than his athleticism also the producers haven't been editing him as a major player controlling the game which is very true i think one of the things that for me has been quite interesting is that when you look at certain parts of the fandom and fan the fandom's always going to be divided right we all have our favorites we want certain players to win and we almost become tribal you know it's kind of like when you've got a sports team everybody else sucks this is the team i support the one thing that i've been very i guess bemused by is the fact that everybody is saying like oh he's one of the greatest to ever play you know he's such a challenge beast and statistically it doesn't quite for me stack up yet yes he's done okay at the tribe part of portion of the game he's done reasonably well he's always second or third but when it comes to just pure out wins he's not even in the top 10 at this point let's be honest like it could change i feel like the editor is pointing us in a direction where they should have gotten rid of him this episode i'm going to put it out there i think he's going to go on a run from here on out like i really do think that and if he becomes the number one target that everybody wants to get rid of does that build him credibility when he says everybody saw me as target number one i knew

25:24 How i was going to be perceived he's shown that is that an angle that he can use the one problem i have with jonathan is i don't trust he's gonna choose the right people to sit next to at the end i think he goes with omar if he stays in control and wins amenities i think he sits next to omar at the end and i think he loses to him yep i think you're exactly right and i think it's dylan in the chat is saying that he's getting the xander edit which is interesting from what you just mentioned about taking the wrong people to the end which is exactly what xander did last season with choosing to bring erica with him who ended up beating him and i could totally see that happening where he brings omer or as we mentioned earlier maybe he brings marianne and thought little marianne you know she's not gonna you know be able to beat me but maybe she does and i also think that you know yeah he can say like you guys didn't take me out but was it him that was able to take himself out of the line of fire no it wasn't it was everyone else it was omar saying maybe we should go for hi it wasn't anything he did to save himself it was everyone just saying man we'll do you a little later so it's not really a big you know

26:44 Check mark on his resume yeah i like dylan also here in the live now saying mike is now instead of being heist puppet he is now omar's puppet moving forward but he's still someone's puppet and i think mike's stocks have completely dropped off like he's the one person i can quite comfortably rule out from winning this thing right now i don't actually even know who he can sit next to at the end and still win this thing i know people like him as you know a person but the really big thing with survivor is that if you're an extremely good social player and you create very deep and authentic connections with people when you cut them it hurts more like you're going to be way more butthurt by somebody voting you out that you thought if you connected at a deeper level than the game itself and i think that is the type of person mike is i don't think he like he said in the beginning of the game he wanted to be friends with these people until he dies basically you know that's the type of connections he's creating so i think that for him to get his vote or the people that he's portrayed at this point get their vote it's gonna chanel you know it's gonna be very difficult for him at the end to do so i just don't think he's still in this game also he sees that i see that duncan in the live stream is saying i want romeo to find his footing soon he was with high but now hi has gone him and i have been sort of going back and forth here in the last couple of episodes but

28:04 Romeo is an interesting one jake because who is coming for romeo at this stage like he's on his own he even voted in this game he was the one vote of all of the people that are still in the game that voted against jonathan he's on his own island yeah i don't know what is going on with him exactly i know he says he said to omar that he is the only person that romeo trusts which is crazy because you know with drea i know he doesn't trust her anymore but it's just it's just crazy that like that's his only person right now the person that's running the game and has everyone in their pocket and yeah how does he win like he doesn't have a winner it's impossible for him to win like he can he can try and get to the end and be a goat at the end not the greatest of all time but a goat being led to the slaughter at the end he could try and get there but i just don't see how he convinces people to vote for him at this point in the game and i find it so difficult because to me from what i see on the tv show he looks like a nice guy he looks like someone that i would want to be friends with i don't understand why he's not connecting with people in a better way it's almost like when he lost control of the game he's become even more introverted and he's isolated himself from big portions of the players out there which is never a good thing because to me his game at this point is to say i

29:24 Am on my own i've got no one like you know drea has left me everybody's left me like do you want to vote let's blindside someone who's the biggest threat in the game right now use my vote to blindside the biggest threat in the game right now i think that is his move i just don't know i've said this before we went to the merge jake if you remember i said my problem with romeo is that i don't think he's the kind of player that can play from the bottom and i feel like my whole thing that i sit there is coming to fruition now we're seeing this play out in front of our eyes like he's not playing well from the bottom yeah you called that pretty remarkably i mean that's exactly what we're seeing pretty much so one time i'm right we'll just keep every time now i'll just go back about call and romeo and that'll be like my claim to fame yep that's the only thing i honestly if i'm thinking about it a bit more maybe romeo does have something he can pitch at the end if he's with the right people he can kind of say like hey i had two people who i thought i was super close with drea and roxroy and drea ditched me roxroy just kind of went with drea as well then we didn't vote together on the first vote then we get split up in order to save myself i have to vote out roxroy then now i'm on the bottom

30:44 I'm out of a vote from here maybe he could have some sort of underdog story where he's like and then when he gets he can make a move you know take out a big guy like if they're smart homer but you know maybe jonathan or someone else maybe he could say like hey like i was i was kind of screwed coming into the merge like my closest allies ditched me i had no one but i scraped my way from the bottom but that's gonna be really hard especially with the other players that are there's just there are a few people that i think could beat him pretty much all of them honestly no i agree 100 with you i'm going to read a couple of the comments here in the live stream thank you for everybody being so active tonight i really enjoy enjoyed when you guys are a part of the conversation dion i hope i pronounced that correctly tiana's saying even though jonathan's chances may have tarnished a bit it's just best to get him out anyways because he's taking away safety from everyone else which means everyone else's chances of going home increases and when i put that poll up on my channel that was the angle i was going with i'm like i don't want this guy even if he's going to go to the end winning immunities especially if i'm not omar like and i think omar is pretty safe and to also go with what duncan says here is that if jonathan targets lindsay mike and omar he's a good player i don't know about

32:04 Mike i think he could beat mike potentially at the end but definitely lindsay and omar and definitely omar he's a good player i see him going for the easy route which is to go for romeo and mary anne and i agree with you i think that is the floor here for omar there's no sense in getting rid of someone like a jonathan because jonathan is just going to keep him safe or drag he's a vote for him i don't think he's going to turn and i mean it would be the shock of the season if we suddenly see jonathan change direction and vote omar out yeah i do want to go into the reward challenge here obviously lindsay wins this reward challenge she says before she goes into the reward challenge she hasn't won anything this season yet but she finally wins something here she gets the choice of taking some people with her to the reward and she chooses both omar and mike her reasoning for it being and you need to come up with a reason on the fly that these two people have not had rewards here did you like this move here from lindsay could she have done anything differently it didn't look like there was much backlash from what we saw in the show yeah that's what i was gonna say is like it seems like every season with some sort of reward there's always someone who's like wow i can't believe they chose so and so and so and so like now i feel like i know my place in this alliance i'm gonna go back to camp with these other guys and make something happen

33:25 Like we didn't even see any comment on her choices it's just like oh yeah okay that makes sense yeah so we haven't really seen lindsey and mike really interact very much so that was an interesting choice i think she was honestly just telling the truth with just those two haven't eaten so yeah and it's always smart it's always smart to choose someone that's not in your alliance in any case so you can try and build that bridge with them and maybe her and mike haven't had that connection yet which she feels comfortable with omar she knows omar will work well with her and talking to mike and it ended up working in their favor because it does look like those three want to work together to a certain degree moving forward in the game one of the things i think that came out for me the real important question here of this reward challenge jake and this is going to basically tell us in the live stream let us know what your you would choose guys does pineapple belong on a pizza or not let's listen straight here jake do you like pineapple on pizza or not absolutely not no i'm already not much of a pizza guy honestly and pineapple on it is just no i just don't i just don't get it pineapple and tomato and cheese like no guys in the live here is jake right does pup does pineapple not

38:45 Perch they've got an arch with a ball that they've got to balance and everybody starts dropping off one by one and suddenly lindsay is starting to win a lot more now and she wins this one against all odds here i think i said a couple of weeks ago lindsey to me seems physically extremely capable she actually reminds me something about her demeanor and her physique reminds me of sarah lucina quite a lot like i feel like she's super capable when it comes to the physical stuff and we're starting to see her get some wins here she's got two wins in a row now does this make her a little bit more part of the conversation as someone that can win and you know if you're not going to win do you want to be in jonathan's position every single time of being the second person you're so close but you're just not winning it i feel like this just keeps growing the target on him here losing out so narrowly yeah it's funny because he's getting all of the backlash with no reward he's not actually winning but everyone's like oh he was that close he's still he's still that goliath that everyone is talking about but okay whatever duncan but yeah it's jonathan he's hit this target i don't think it's going away anytime soon he's always going to be in the conversation if he loses he can't hide at this point people i mean the guy is physically obese that he you can't hide being that physical beast out there

40:05 But you know obviously lindsay does win this which takes us back to the camp they now have to scramble and come up with who's gonna go home luckily for omar he's been looking at this you know he's been playing the 4d chess when everybody else has been playing checkers he's got someone lined up he wants to go after hi and i felt like this was the perfect sort of plan for them to come into place because jonathan didn't win which made i think that there was another target up for grabs at this point and if you were high and you were playing this game and you were out there playing this game at this point i think you would get definitely fooled by this plan because logically you're looking at this the guy is a beast he's still in the game he could be taking immunities away from people to get to the end let's vote him out now let's remove that threat in the game i felt like perfect opportunity like this is the best way to blindside someone when you've got a threat of that level still in the game here yeah and i correct me if i'm wrong but i believe it was before the challenge even took place that lindsay was having a conversation with hai about potentially taking him out so that may have been after the challenge i'm not actually completely sure on that i'm sorry about the dogs by the way they're just big yeah clearly they're upset about being the one that ended up going home high fans

41:27 For sure so when hai hears the plan afterwards coming from lindsay and homer he can rationalize that saying like oh yeah they were talking to me about that before the challenge even took place so this yeah this makes sense i thought the strategy here was very interesting as well we saw hai go and talk to jonathan tried to put him at ease but obviously jonathan at this point already knew via mike that mahai was coming for him and he makes up this elaborate story about the fact that he's got a fake idol he found it by the well i thought he lied pretty convincingly it was impressive to see him in his work the only reason jonathan was wise to him is the fact that mike already pre-warned him that high is coming for him and not to trust anything that i was going to say to him on the day but it's an interesting conversation here with hai saying that you need to because of the shot in the dark and we are yet to see two seasons and where yet to see someone successfully play a shot of shot in the dark in this game but because of this element in the game you have to be extra sneaky and how you blindside people here you cannot be upfront about it and i've got to say i enjoy it i really now two seasons and even though shot in the dark has not played out for anyone i think there could be a future season it could be season 43 could be season 44 45 who knows there's going to be a season where it's going to work for someone and they're going to get saved

52:08 To stay 26 days for 43 and 44 my count argument to that is that if they are going to do four seasons or 26 days it's here to stay like this next seasons 43 and 44 will determine i think the future of what survivor looks like over in the us in any case and if they can get away with it for two more seasons and people start accepting it i don't see it going away because like i said there is no from my understanding there is no restrictions in fiji currently there is no restrictions there's no things that they've got to jump through that were there for 41 to 42. so if they're keeping it for 43 and 44 it's not due to fiji interesting i did not know that there were no restrictions in fiji anymore i was under the impression yeah i was under the impression that it was still like one of the most restrictive countries out there but i think there is a there's a quarant from what i understand there is a quarantine time as you go in but outside of that there's no restriction on how long you can stay there or anything like that so the one thing that could throw them off is the fact that they have to quarantine for 10 days but i don't think that's enough to justify to make the show 26 days if that makes sense that's my understanding anyways we've kind of sidetracked a little bit here but it is interesting to talk about and maybe we do a little bit more offseason content as we start hearing more news about 43 and we'll talk about this a little bit more as well but

53:28 Going into the tribal council i guess the tribal council itself was pretty straightforward they ended up putting votes on high here going home with a vote of five to two votes against jonathan the one thing i do want to talk about at tribal council is that jonathan seemed to start he started waking up a little bit to lindsay and the way that she was talking and he started noticing that something's going on here i'm telling you there's something here like i think jonathan could take lindsay out he could wake up to lindsay trying to come for him or lindsay gets voted you know screwed out of the game with a twist but i think that there's a reason we've been focusing on jonathan even if he doesn't win why have we put so much you know i know a lot of people are gonna say jeff just loves the alpha guys i don't think that's it like i mean there's been many alpha guys in the past on the show why have we focused on jonathan so heavily this season like if he's not gonna go on a immunity run or why have they invested in building the persona of him being a challenge beast up until this point and the fact that you've even got omari in this episode saying the right move is to take him out now before he goes on a run like even omar said in this episode i feel like there's a lot of foreshadowing happening i think that's that could be a good read i think that maybe this is kind of the start of jonathan starts to get really paranoid of lindsay like you said because

1:04:09 She's my number two that's why she's my number two here this week because she's got something that she could play i don't think she is central to omar's plans really for the end game but i've got a feeling she could like make a really big move she could be omar's downfall that would be pretty legendary to see if she if she made that move and then number three is lindsay honestly i put lindsay there because i feel like none of the other players this week had enough visibility or enough of a good edit around them for me to even consider them this week but i don't think lindsay's winning this thing i'm really low on her chances i don't think she's the erica of this season happy to be wrong listen i've been wrong many times in the past it wouldn't be a surprise to me if i'm wrong here i just think that jonathan is going to wise up to her someone's gonna tell jonathan lindsay's coming for him and it's probably gonna be one of those weeks when jonathan's got immunity they can't vote for him so they need to create an enemy between jonathan and someone else and use jonathan's vote i feel like that could very easily blow up in lindsay's face but like you said quite rightfully here she won the reward challenge she got to have that conversation with mike build a bit of a bridge there and stream for her own alliances within this game and also she wanted immunity against someone that jeff loves you know and some people have said is one of the best or biggest threats to ever play this
