Episode summary
Chris and Andre react live to Survivor 50 episode 10, which Chris calls his favorite episode of the season. They start with Rick Devens admitting early that his idol is fake and agree it was a smart move, then ask whether any other player works from the bottom the way he does. They like the auction because nobody loses a vote, enjoy Aubry eating grubs, and ask why love letters replaced real family visits. The MrBeast cameo and his coin flip advantage get the longest stretch. They think MrBeast came across as a fan and not a star, that Rick was right to flip, and that forcing people toward rocks is the weak part of the twist. Joe running to Cirie kills Jonathan’s plan to blindside Ozzy, Tiffany wins the balance challenge over Ozzy and Joe, Rick wins the flip and a public idol, and Stephenie goes home. They finish with winner odds, where Chris adds Aubry to his top three, and the draft points, with Chris on 111 and TNT community on 102.

0:57 All the live viewers out there, all the viewers who watch us after the live, welcome back. I am your host Christian back with Andre to talk about Survivor 50 episode 10. We have an absolute banger to talk about, Andre. My favorite episode of the whole season by a country mile. I don't know how you feel about it. Yeah, it's pretty high up there. Yeah, I absolutely loved it. It was you know I was get honestly, I was a little bit worried about the whole Mr. Beast of it all, but that actually turned out pretty well. So, I'm very happy with how it turned out. Super excited to talk about it. Yeah, they were many ways that this could have gone horribly wrong and I'm sure we will talk about that, but you know, the result of it, the end result of it being that it was in my mind the most exciting Tribal Council I've seen in a while.
1:49 I you know, every time Jeff says it's the first or it's going to be a crazy twist and things like that. It doesn't always seem to go the way that he thinks and I think even this one he expected it to go in a kind of a different way as well and the fact that it didn't made it a better outcome than what it would have been if it actually turned out the way I think production thought that this was going to go, but we'll talk about it. There's lots and lots to dive into. Let's say hello to the people here in the live. We've got Scott here waking up from a nap just in time to show up for this live. He's kind of like Rizo. Rizo is napping for most of the episode, but whenever the strategy talk happens, Rizo's right there. He's in the midst of it. He's in the thick of it. So, Scott sort of channeling his inner Rizo here on the live. Blood money saying Chris and Andre Mr. Beast twist is way better than the other advantages. I agree. I absolutely loved it. Lexa Power is back in the house as well saying hey friends, so happy that Cirie is safe.
2:44 Cirie's Wizard of Oz is my favorite alliance ever since poverty and Cirie's LGBTQ people plus Cirie's alliance from Australia. This is the world. So, the common denominator there being Cirie in all of those alliances, Lexa. So, I'm assuming you're a mega fan of Cirie and I am as well. I'm really enjoying this season. Chris, have you voted for Theo Turbo and Asaf to be on Beast Games season 3? I haven't. I didn't realize that there was a vote going on. To be honest, I have to watch Beast Games like I haven't watched any Beast Games actually. Have you watched it, Andre? I haven't watched one Mr. Beast video in my life. I know who he is. I see Beast bars, Feastables or whatever inside of Woolies. I've no idea who Mr. Beast is. Yeah, we're like the Ciries of the reality TV. Like Cirie didn't seem to know who Mr. Beast was when he got out there or was confused by what was going on.
3:36 I feel like we're like that, but I did hear good things about season 2 though. I heard season 1 wasn't the greatest. Season 2 people are saying if you want to dive into it, watch that. So, maybe I'll start there. Naseer from Survivor 41 needs to vote to be votes to be on Beast Games season 3 as well. Okay, well I'll check it out. We can support them. Barely know who Mr. Beast is, but his celebrity appearance wasn't horrible, thank goodness. Yeah, I don't want to jump into the Mr. Beast thing straight away. I do want to get to it, but I want to go to the beginning of the episode. I want to talk a little bit about Rick Devens before we go into what happened at the end of the episode here, Andre. What did you think of him coming clean early in the episode about the fact that the idol was indeed a fake idol and the fact that he kind of acknowledged what we all knew. He couldn't play this fake every single Tribal Council and try to do a Rizo throughout the season. Did you like this move with him here coming clean early in the episode?
4:29 Yeah, I think it was a good move because it was either people probably were going to call his bluff anyway, but in a way if you come clean and say I actually don't have an idol, it's fake. I'll tell you this big story. I think people are already going to be more suspicious you've got a real idol. So, it's kind of like a win-win situation for him. It's like oh no, I'm being clean. I'm being honest, but people maybe in the back of their minds they don't believe you. Worst case scenario is they believe you have a real idol. So, I thought it was pretty strong and we saw how it turned out, right? Like people were more willing to work with Rick after that happened. So, I think it was a very heads up play. Yeah, I think it was a really good strategy and what I like about Rick Devens like throughout this episode all the way through to the end. It's very hard to talk about him and not actually talk about the end, but I'm going to try my best to avoid the temptation to do so.
5:19 You know, there's certain people that are BMT players of this game and he is a big match temperament player of this game. Doesn't crack under pressure. Plays unorthodox, which I thinks make like for us as viewers to see Rick Devens play, it's like fun to watch him have fun out there and enjoy his moments there, but I think for you as a player, it must be incredibly frustrating to play against someone that's got this jester-like way of moving through the game. Jokes about everything. To your point, is he joking? Is he being serious? Does he have something? Doesn't he have something? Even that becomes a question with Rick Devens. Like you never know cuz he's got so many tricks up his sleeve. Is there anyone else like Devens out there? Like is Devens truly unique in the way that he plays this game? Because to me I don't know. Like I mean Tony is an agent of chaos, but not to the same level as >> Tony plays from the top.
6:13 Devens plays from the bottom. He's kind of like he's the chaos is a ladder type of player. I think he plays very well cuz a lot of people in that position will just flounder if they're at the bottom, but he seems to play better if anything and he's comfortable at the bottom. So, You kind of mentioned I think you mentioned Dr. Will like a couple of podcasts ago and I the more you've mentioned it, I see it. Like I don't think he is as charismatic as Dr. Will is in regards to the fact that you know, he doesn't have that same charm that he can sway people to still like him while he's doing this, but he is as effective as Dr. Will is at playing from the bottom, I feel like. So, I don't know if there's another player like him and we've had >> Dan from Big Brother, another Big Brother sort of comparison. He played pretty well on one, two. I think it's more of a Big Brother thing than it's a Survivor thing cuz on Survivor you vote them out if they're on the bottom. I think it's more of a Big Brother thing than it's a Survivor thing cuz on Survivor you vote them out >> [laughter] >> if they're on the bottom.
7:07 So, historically there haven't been too many that I can think of or any at all, really. Yeah, Tai is another person who's exciting with idols for sure, but I think what I'm trying to get at here is like even Tai like played a very smart, cerebral, strategic game where Rick Devens is a kind of player that just throws everything at the wall and sees what sticks at the end of the day. And I think yeah, Tony is the more controlled chaos, which is why Tony has won a couple of times versus a Devens. I'm not convinced that this game is going to win Devens the season, but 100% he's memorable. 100% he's coming back for a third time. He must be the biggest lock at this stage to come back for a third time based on how the season has gone so far. There is another one, Russell of course, when he was on the bottom of Heroes vs. Villains. Not particularly popular these days, but he we have I have to accept that he played very well in the early part of Samoa to get control and then also Heroes vs.
8:05 Villains to mind if Tyson and sort of get through that. That as well. So, yeah, I would say him. Cowboy was an agent of chaos, probably not as effective, but Cowboy was definitely someone that was ahead of his time. So, good shout out there as well. Maybe Tyson is similar to Devens in some ways, Scott is saying. I could see that. Also a little bit more charismatic. Like a Tyson is probably closer to a Dr. Will in that sense, I would say almost. He's got a bit of a charm about him even if he's annoying people. So, let's move on to the auction. We saw the auction here, Andre, back this episode. It's something that is a fan favorite. People love the auction. Jeff hasn't been the biggest fan of an auction. He kind of felt like it's played out in its totality, everything that we possibly could do and now people are gaming it to try and get the advantages and things like that, but with this specific auction, nobody loses a vote.
9:02 Everybody can pull together. They can have food. There's a component to this auction where there's two items up on the on grabs at certain times, but one person has to sacrifice so that the other person can eat, which I thought was a really good little twist that they brought into the auction. How did you feel about the auction? Were you happy to see it play out here? Was there any favorite moments from it? Yeah, I think people have been saying that the auction has been broken for a while and I always thought the easiest way to unbreak the auction is basically say up front that there's not going to be any like you don't have to you don't have to save your money for an advantage. There's not going to be any advantages and we're not just saying that. So, they fixed that particular part. I thought that the chaos bit was a bit of fun. Like I think they really for once they actually listened to the fans and said hey, fans want the auction. They want they don't want any of these weird sort of weird twists into it and I think that both the American Survivor in Australia Survivor did the auction very well this season.
9:59 I think in Australian Survivor they did where they could bluff. So, it was like two people It wasn't really an auction, but it was kind of like a different twist on it where they could like bluff and then one of them would be the chaos or just the terrible option. One of them was the good option. And then it was like two people from each tribe kind of tried to bluff each other, which I thought was a pretty good twist as well. I think that's what we want. We just want a bit of fun and games. We want people to be fed. We want We want to see more character moments, I feel. And I feel like we saw a lot of character moments. And my favorite sort of unnoticed thing from the auction was Rizo not drinking his protein milk cuz he didn't like it. So, >> [laughter] >> I got a kick out of that. Yeah. I do feel for Rizo like having played this game back-to-back. I don't remember how many days he's had between seasons. Like I'm sure his stomach must be a mess. Like he's probably struggling to keep food down at this stage cuz he hasn't been eating properly for like two seasons in a row.
10:53 He's experiencing the closest thing to what the OG Survivor players used to experience when they I don't know how many days he's now into the game. He's He's had a tough new era player that's had like 39 days. Yeah. Yeah, that's crazy. So, hasn't even gotten there cuz Tiff was what? 19 day 19 day 19. So, 38 days in total. So, she's very close to 39 days now. That's crazy, yeah. but yeah, I did feel for him a little bit. good on Aubry for taking one for the team and eating the worms or whatever they call those things that she had to put down her mouth. and you know, doing so like a champion in the moment. very impressed by Aubry there. This is the kind of thing that I used to love about old school Survivor, Andre. We used to see these gross eating challenges that people had to compete. Like it's very basic, but it's like can you mentally get over the barrier that you have to do this?
11:46 And you know, both Aubry and Jonathan I don't think either of them have done this before. Like Jonathan definitely hasn't because he's from the new school era. I don't remember if Aubry ever had a season where she had to do it. There was a lot of people who played this game, I think, that weren't all that familiar with the gross eating challenge because it's not been a thing in Survivor for many a season. Like I can't even remember the last time we saw something like this. I don't know why they got rid of it cuz there's been some great moments in the past. I remember Boston Rob sort of almost throwing up eating the balut. I remember Cochran destroying Malcolm in that one immunity challenge. Yeah. Like it was some really great moments. And it's like I That's what I always want. I want variety in the challenges. It's not hard to get a little bit of gross food and get a few grubs here or there. Have a Have one immunity challenge which is a eating gross food when, you know, someone that doesn't usually win immunity is maybe someone like Well, Aubry can win, but like someone like Cirie could probably win a gross food gross food eating challenge.
12:43 It's like I don't want to see the same old challenges where it's either like it's an obstacle course and then you go into a puzzle cuz I don't remember that stuff. I remember those moments that's a little unique. I want to see somebody kind of throw up. I want to see somebody absolutely destroy like Aubry did, right? Cuz I remember that from her this season. Yeah. Yeah, I mean it gave me more respect for Aubry in that moment where it's like she truly is that resilient cuz it's a mind over matter type of situation that she's being put into. And I think again I don't want to sound like a broken record, Andre, but you know, we as fans have said this for many times. It's the fact that the production and since Jeff has taken the creative has gone in such a different way where it isn't that old school survival, the survival of the fittest toughest of mindset type of approach and these simplistic type of situations that are being put in the game that sees how humans will interact in those moments. We just don't get that anymore.
13:33 It's now let's throw something crazy in there. Like we manufacture you losing your vote or you manufacture going to rocks, which we'll talk about later. These are the kind of things that they think is great moments when in reality it's not, you know, it's not something that I think I am drawn to. And I don't think I'm the only one in the fandom that feels that way about it. let's have a look at what Lexa's saying here. She says Sugar was kind of like that, too, with playing a bit spontaneous and maybe Q. My take doesn't feel so special anymore, live audience. You're giving me like plenty of names. I thought I had a hot take coming in here and you guys are like, "No, there's plenty players like Rick Devens out there." Lexa's saying, "I like the auction better without the weird race through the forest. Love that they removed also the lose your vote aspect of it." And I don't know if you want to talk about that at all, Andre. Like the losing of a vote, like what are we doing?
14:25 Like How do we get through to Jeff to just let him know that Survivor is best when people have votes and they've got options? Yeah, exactly. I mean an extra vote is fine for me. Losing a vote is like you lose your agency there. so, I think I think for this particular episode they did listen to the fans. Thank god. but we'll see. We'll see because Don't forget last episode what happened to Christian. That was last episode. How quickly we forget. So, I've sort of been back and forth between Oh, they make some really good decisions sometimes and make some really bad decisions sometimes. They kind of equal out. but yeah, it's like I was so happy that Yeah. the only real twist or No, the only real sort of like change was Tiffany using her advantage really. And that didn't happen. >> Yeah. And I'm also I think after this season I'm Like I like the shot in the dark.
15:17 I like the fact that people can play it as a Hail Mary to try and save their game if they know that votes are going to come their way. But I think that the way it's worked out this season when players lose their vote and they can't play their shot in the dark. They just become an easy target. People know that there's probably nothing that they can do to save themselves. So, the fear of voting for someone or even ganging up on that person without the vote, it's just too easy and it makes for boring gameplay. So, I think if you're going to continue to have the lose the vote in that you need to choose between the two. Do you continue to have the lose the vote or do you continue to Yeah, or just come up with another twist. Another twist that's maybe a little bit more balanced. Get a proper game designer in and just be like there's a lot of twists that don't work and we know they don't work. I like the shot in the dark. I think it's a good game design, but I don't think it's a good TV design because it kind of stifles gameplay a little bit and also removes for a TV product.
16:13 If somebody plays a shot in the dark, I immediately know they're probably just going to go home. Like all the votes going to be stacked on them. If they want to change it to be like, "Oh, you get to play the shot in the dark after the votes are read or something like that." That might be a more interesting. but yeah, you really need to think about sort of every Like this is a TV product. yeah, also I did think of another player of the three people or the two people that watch The Genius, Sangmin's the closest thing to Rick Devens. So, >> Okay. >> all the genius fans out there. Yeah. Probably better than Rick Devens. Yeah. Scott here says I enjoyed Aubry trying to find out how many items there were going to be in the auction. I thought it was very cheeky of Aubry to try that. and it was kind of endearing when Jeff was like, "What do you mean? Like I'm not going to tell like who do you think I am?" And her saying, "Well, you may have an off day, Jeff.
17:03 Like it may it may be a day where you let it slip, you know?" And it just shows you how in the moment in the game Aubry is and probably all these players. And that even Jeff could have an off day. Who knows? Like Jeff has done some wacky things. Nobody expected him to wrap this season. Nobody expected some of the things like him getting into the challenge. Like he could have another off day, Andre, out there. Yeah, actually I hear it's happening quite a lot in the sort of in the behind the scenes where it's like you hear stories of like Tyson and Stephen sort of like really grilling production on the rules and everything. so, I found it quite interesting that sort of we saw this. we saw this sort of stay in the edit. And it seems like something Angelina would do as well. Like if only Angelina was here during the auction, I think she would have had a field day. Yeah. Willie here says that he didn't watch the episode and thought it might be bad. How was the still it is the end product that we got to see.
18:08 And I thought that it created a lot of excitement. And I don't know where you sit on it, Andre. Was it a good or a bad episode for you? It was a really good episode in spite of the twist. I think the fact that I think they actually pulled back sort of like the visibility of Mr. Beast a little bit. I think there was rumors about how they changed the edit. I think that's probably the truth. Where it's like we just saw him as like a figure that could come in, showed his admiration for the show, which is kind of I think fans really like. It's like Mr. Beast is one of us. He's not trying to insert himself. And then honestly like the twist itself I was If it had gone the other way, if he had if somebody was eliminated because of that, I think it would have been very similar to I forgot who it was, but I think it was Survivor 42, I want to say, where they had to flip a coin and it was like instant death elimination. That would have been awful because we wouldn't have seen the votes play out.
19:00 So, I think production got very lucky that the damage of it was minimized, but we got a good moment out of that. And like you I was truly like you know, I had my heart in my in my >> Yeah, let's talk about it. Let's get into it when that moment come I know normally we just jump back and forth, but we'll bring it up when we talk about it in its totality. But you know, if you're still here in the live listening to this, Willie, just go out and watch the episode. I think it is definitely worth it to go and watch it. And jump out now before we talk about who was eliminated, I guess, if you don't know that yet. Georgette's saying it's grubs. Thanks, Georgette. I just couldn't think of the word in the moment. That happens sometimes when you're on a live podcast. And you call it worms. Yeah, in Australia. Which are grubs, right? Very similar. Lexa's saying, "I do miss the gross eating challenges, but I also miss a lot of the old challenges that they don't do anymore like torchy subjects and the memory game and matching game and Survivor trivia 100% like I'm all for bringing back like this was supposed to be in the hands of the fans.
19:59 Like why didn't we get a vote on bringing back some of these old school challenges in the game? just to make it feel fresh because this rinse and repeat of doing the same challenges that the previous season did just so they can cost cut on budgeting and things. Like how expensive is it Andre to get a couple of people to stand there and do Survivor trivia for instance? Yeah. season as monumental as season 50, you would hope that the people who are playing the game as fans of the game themselves, students of the game. So you could throw back like some trivia questions in there that will potentially help a guy like Rick Devens out there. And rewards too by the way. Like how hard is it to get a boat, go into a village and then have them play football with some kids, you know? Like bring back the classics. I don't need to see the meeting bolognese in the sanctuary. I like I don't care. It doesn't to me it doesn't matter. Like I want to see good TV and I think that will bring good TV.
20:50 It's a little bit of a change and a little bit of variety. Yeah. This is a funny comment. Aubry said the grubs reminded her of home. It wasn't the grubs, it was the pasta that she had. I think it was mac and cheese that she was having that reminded her of home and Jeff loves Joe, right? Like he always goes back to Joe for these moments like, you know, what does that mean, Joe? Like tell me what you think about the situation cuz Joe's a bit of a deep guy, but I'll tell you this. After this episode, I fully turned on Joe. Like I reckon he is the worst choice that they had to come back and play this season. Like he And it's probably also in some ways if I had to be devil's advocate why he's the best choice because he's ruining his allies' [clears throat] game week in and week out by just not being able to keep his mouth shut and talking to everybody and getting upset about things with people and I think I can now understand Andre what you said to me because I didn't get to watch the merge of 48.
21:44 I watched the pre-merge. and then didn't have enough time to watch and you said you made a mistake picking him that early in your draft because you haven't seen his end game. And I think I'm getting a taste of what that end game is right now. He is not a He's probably a great human being. He's not a great Survivor player. Yeah, I never liked Joe as a Survivor player cuz he stifles gameplay, but I find his hypocrisy this season just hilarious which makes him a good character. The fact that he completely hates Devens. He Anything Devens does it can't impress him. and then he always seems to vote for the person he doesn't want to vote for either. He's like, "No, I'm low integrity." But he votes out that person anyway every single time. and I just think that's hilarious. I just think that he's never going to win. Like I don't think he ever can play a winning game, but he's just I think he's interesting as a character as a foil to some of these sort of game bots.
22:35 I think that's interesting. and that's what's making this season pretty interesting strategically because people do have to play around Joe, but it can go a little bit too far like 48 where it's like it's just too stifling and it just makes a vast majority of the season kind of boring. Yeah. Joe's a flawed player, but I [clears throat] still like him. And I can see I can see why some people will like him. Like I like I said, I think he's probably a great human being, but Survivor's doing his head in and he's just getting in front of in my mind good gameplay. Like this episode jumping kind of a little bit ahead. Like if Joe didn't jump in here, we could have had one of the best blindsides of the season taking out Ozzy very early on here with an idol in his pocket. I know there's a lot of Ozzy fans out there. I'm one of them cuz he's one of the few players that I can like sort of hang my bet on right now or hang my hat on to say he could potentially still win it for me outright, but it would have been a glorious blindside if they could have pulled this move out and it looked like everything was working well until he went and went to go talk to Cirie about it.
23:39 Like everybody is blabbing out to Cirie the information of what's going on and it's her closest ally and I don't know why people can't see it. Well, if it if it wasn't Cirie, it probably would have been Rizz or somebody would have told one of those two. cuz they're so well insulated and not to jump to the end, but basically we saw who controlled these votes. It was Cirie. >> [laughter] >> Like again. Like I think this was this is the third or fourth vote in a row that she's completely controlled and you can see her fingerprints all over this. She would have found out eventually. And just the masterful gameplay of her both connections. She's connected to every single person on the cast. Everybody would have gone to Cirie and somehow she's managed to control the flow of information about Ozzy to go to her which is absolutely crazy with the caliber of cast that we have this season that even Cirie has complete and utter control of the tribe is incredible.
24:36 Yeah, it's crazy and Lexa here even pointing out something that I kind of missed on my watch of the episode, but she's asking if we clocked that Cirie and Ozzy were laying on the beach together reading their letters together while everyone else seemed to be sitting alone. Are they hiding? I'm also curious why no one sees it. I feel like it's pretty obvious, but again Stephanie and some of her exit press said it was obvious that Cirie and Ozzy were working closely together in the game. She said it was obvious. So I think there was a reason that Cirie or Stephanie didn't want to let Cirie in on the fact that Ozzy was the person. She wanted Cirie for herself, but then a guy like Joe just couldn't read between the lines. Probably isn't a I don't know if he's a student of the game. I don't know if he's watched seasons to know that these two were ever playing together in previous seasons, but yeah, just the wrong person wrong time spoke out about it and the whole plan fell flat and you know, it started turning the other way again.
25:29 And to your point because of Cirie and the her ability to turn votes away from Ozzy. So in a lot of ways I thought about it this morning prior to the podcast. I think if Cirie goes out next or very soon, like Ozzy's winning chances in my mind goes down considerably because he's getting a favorable edit, but he doesn't have the ability to see these bullets coming without Cirie. And Cirie's really his biggest shield in the game at the moment. His big His biggest and best move this season has been sort of giving that extra vote to Cirie early in the game. Yeah, I mean I think Ozzy has earned his right to be the only person that could in theory be the one that gets out Cirie. I don't think it makes sense for anybody else in the cast to get out Cirie at this stage. And you can see this in the way that Cirie plays. So you notice that Cirie never says no to a plan.
26:21 She'll always say, "Oh, I'm down with that, but this might be a better option." And you can see that she's sort of like does the yes and type of gameplay where everybody feels comfortable giving her information which is pretty amazing when you think about it. So I hope that Cirie doesn't go home. I don't see why anybody would get rid of her. Again, like I think we keep on going back to this point. It's like it always makes sense to keep Cirie until final five. Or maybe >> what BBG is saying. He's agreeing with you on that as well. Foo says he reckons that they just copied Rizz's letter from four weeks ago and gave him the same one out there. it sounds like you've got some inside information that we're not aware of, but you know, the love letters a nice touch, Andre, but you know, sounding like that broken record old school fan crying about it.
27:13 It's season 50. It's a big deal. Love letters really? We couldn't get them I mean 19 days, come on. Hey? So it's only been 19 days as well. Come on. True. True. 19 days, but my point is that, you know, 19 days in the 26 season era it is deep in the game. Yeah. >> Why couldn't we get the budget together, get some Fiji Airways sponsorship or something like that to get the actual families out there? >> Yeah, it is one plane. Just tell the families you just need to be in LA. Get yourself to LA and then we'll fly you out. It's one plane one plane there one plane back. Yeah. >> I'm sure they could get the sponsorship. The amount of business that they bring to Fiji every single year by just doing the show over and over there in Fiji. Like they're keeping that economy thriving in a lot of ways. Like I'm sure they could have at least got on like half price flights or something out of it.
28:03 You know, it just didn't make any sense to me that we didn't get the families to go out there and experience this. Especially after season 40 because they didn't bring out everyone's families. It's season 50. Bring it out like a few You cut it down from 39 days to 26 days. You can afford to send out a couple of family members. Yeah, exactly. So obviously with this comes with big reward comes big risk in this game and we get introduced to Mr. Beast here in this episode. He comes out. Jeff says, "We're so humbled and grateful to have the biggest YouTuber out here." And that he has taken an interest in our little show. but Beast very well done turns it around says, "Hey, this is not a little show. Don't sell yourself short. I've been watching this and I was inspired by this even when I started the Beast Games." Makes me kind of interested. I will say I'm not a like I'm not I know of Mr. Beast especially cuz Mr. Beast I think his partner is a South African as well and obviously I'm a South African.
28:55 So that kind of aware I'm aware of him for a while now I've been aware of him, but you know, seeing him out there being so humble, not trying to steal the show because he doesn't need to. It's very different to the other cameos that we had where they needed to sell their wine or whatever they were doing out there in the music and all these kind of different things. He's not feeling like he needs to do that. Like he's already got the following. So I felt like it was a true fan moment here. It felt real. It felt that he didn't want to be the star of the show, but he wanted a part to play in it. And I think that's the way and that's the reason why the show worked. Like even though a lot of people in the chat have said they've never heard of Mr. Beast, I'm pretty sure he's got over 100 million followers on YouTube which is like a pretty big deal, right? Yeah, and what I don't know like I'd never seen really Mr. Beast, but what struck out to me is like you didn't need to know who Mr. Beast was.
29:45 All you could All I saw was I saw a fan who had reverence for the show. And I think if it's in the hands of fans, it could have been like an anonymous fan and it'd be like just showing that reverence to the show and be like, "No. No. Survivor is a big deal. Like I might be big, but this is a big I mean in its heyday, I think what Survivor was making 70 million viewers or something. It was the biggest show on TV. I mean, come on. Give it its due." And we're all fans of the show. So, the fact that it was it wasn't about Mr. Beast, it was about the show and it was about showing reverence to the show, I think that's what struck true and why people didn't find the twist too over the top because of that. Yeah, totally agree. And I think that Jeff so badly wanted to make it about Mr. Beast. He wanted the clips.
30:36 He wanted the moment. And Mr. Beast did not allow for him to make it about him. Like and I thought that was very well played by him in that moment and my mind. So, obviously he tells them about the super beware advantage. And when we're talking about super beware advantage, I think there was a lot of people nervous about that what are we going to get? Is it going to be a super idol? Is it going to be something that can be played after the vote? Like I mean, we've heard the word super thrown around before in the past and it always had a very overpowered mechanism attached to it. So, I think the way that it ultimately played out it caused enough chaos and mystique around it where we saw the scramble happening back at the tribal council afterwards after the immunity. But let's talk about the immunity challenge. Did you like the fact that Jeff rattled the cage a little bit here where just as they thought they could relax, just as they thought, "Okay, we know about the super beware advantage.
31:29 We've got our letters. We can go and read this." No, we're doing the immunity challenge and it's just around the corner. What did you think about that little twist? It was pretty epic, actually. I like the way they edited where it was like then the intense music starts to flare up and it's like, "Wow, you know, this is a sensory overload." But I quite like that because it adds something a little bit different to the show. It's you feel the stakes already because it's so fresh and people like, "Wait, we need to go?" And you know, they're all amped up on sugar probably. So, they have the energy to last forever or to you know, really focus and concentrate. So, I quite liked it. I think that you know, it was something a little bit different. It was it also added to the pacing of the show cuz we didn't need to see them go back and then strategize a little bit more and then come back. I think that was a natural flow and that allowed that really long segment of the post challenge strategy which worked really well.
32:20 So, I'm a big fan of that format. Yeah, I think that for me in that moment when they were walking to the immunity challenge with the cameras, beautiful cinematography. Survivor does it extremely well, obviously. Have been doing so for many years. As they zoom out and you see them walking on the beach and just right next to it is the actual immunity challenge which they weren't aware of obviously in the moment. as they were doing that, I was looking at the time and we were only like early into the episode. I felt like potentially we could see two eliminations with this super beware advantage here. I thought that the stakes were going to ramp up because it felt like the episode was pacing pretty quickly, but the challenge portion slowed it down a little bit being an endurance challenge. We see people dropping out in and out. It's one of the old classics. It's a it's a immunity challenge I always like to see because again it comes down to you know, a little bit of skill and dexterity and being able to keep your balance while you're on that beam as the beam gets smaller and you go down.
33:16 But then also there is an ability of you having to do the balance, keep your concentration, stay out there for as long as you can to ultimately win it. And you know, I don't remember Tiff being a challenge beast in her previous season and probably she did win something. I just can't remember it because a lot of the new era all sort of morphs into one for me, but she actually ends up beating both Ozzy and Joe in this challenge. give the girl her flowers. Like she really went out there and you know, this was personal for her getting past day 19. Were you as impressed with this performance from Tiff as I was? I No, I don't Well, no. the reason was because I think that this challenge tends to bias people with small feet. So, someone like Jonathan could never win this challenge just cuz his feet are just too big.
34:06 Maybe what they could do is they could make the size of them sort of relative to their feet size, so it's a little bit more fair. that's the only reason. just cuz I think but that's Survivor. Survivor's not fair. and you know, you're going to have some challenges. Like if Parvati was out there, she would have won 99 out of 100 times, right? Doesn't make me respect Parvati more because you know, she wins it. I just find that respectable. so, yeah, I may maybe I'm not as high on sort of the whole challenge. >> Or Survivor's second favorite newscaster, Savannah Lewis, if she was out there, potentially she would also do extremely well on a challenge like this. But I don't mark people down for it. Like we've talked about it. Survivor's not fair. It has different challenges that sort of Exactly. And I like the fact that we have challenges where sometimes the girl with the smaller feet that still has to stand up there, still has to balance, still has to keep the ball which I don't think is a like let's not minimize all the other things and the skill that it take to win this.
35:03 But she's got a small edge or an advantage with her feet being smaller at the end on that beam then give it to her. And I still think she had to go nothing was given to her. She still had to win. >> did win the immunity challenge with Joe as well, right? So, you know, she's getting a bit of a resume there. And if she can win like you know, three or four challenges in the season, I think that'd be quite respectable. so, and you know, like his her competition aren't slouches. There's Jonathan. I think Devon's won like four challenges on his season as well. Like don't sleep on him. >> Ozzy one short of the all-time record. Still not getting there. Like do you like at this stage odds up or odds down on Ozzy actually being able to Do you think he will Yeah. You think he's going to get it? >> think I think Well, I think he's going to get to the final four at the very least. So, Okay. It'd be hard for him not to not to if they considering if you think that he's a long-term player, like it's Ozzy.
35:56 He's probably going to win something. I would I would take the over on that for sure. Yeah, what about you? Yeah, I think so. I think Ozzy needs to get rid of Joe next like as soon as possible and just make sure cuz Joe is a bit of a beast and seems like he's more in his prime compared to Ozzy at this stage. But I think The fact that he can get rid of Joe is crazy. Yeah. Yeah, it is crazy. I mean, it's the one thing he's great at. He's bad at the strategy and the like you said, like just not being able to understand the aim of the game and the fact that you can't tell people everything and you won't always know where all the advantages are and who's doing what. Like it's just not how this game is made. He's really bad at that part of the game. But he's good at the challenges and I think that it could be a good move. But he keeps bringing this information back to Cirie at the moment. So, I feel like Cirie will protect Joe for quite a while. Like he's doing a lot of the dirty work for her at the moment in the game.
36:49 >> Yeah. so, but yeah, I think there's a good chance he will equal it. I don't know if he's going to beat Rob's record. I feel like he deserves to. >> on nine right now or on final eight? So, he has six left. >> Like six. Yeah, six rounds. >> Six rounds? Yeah. Oh, I think I think so. Yeah, if we think that he's in the final three. Yeah, if he doesn't get blindsided and he gets to final three, I mean, odds are that he's going to win. It's Ozzy. Like I think so. >> [snorts] >> Yeah, Scott says, "I was surprised that it wasn't a double elimination. strongly rooting for Tiff this whole challenge." And then BBG saying, "I think Ozzy at least ties the record. I think he'll at least get the tie at this stage." but ultimately Tiff wins it. they do end up going back to camp. The scramble is on. Different conversations are happening. And Jonathan comes up with I think the right plan in the game.
37:44 Like everything I'm seeing from Jonathan this season, even if he's not winning the season and it's looking less and less likely that he's going to get there at the end and win the season because he's losing allies really fast at this point. So, I don't know where he's going to go. Like I don't even know if he's maybe burned Aubry in this last episode where it looked like they could work together, but he was kind of having Steph's back in the moment and Aubry seemed to be closer to Rick Devens in this moment. So, that could be a door that shuts on him. But I also think Aubry's smart enough to know that they need each other in this game because the other group is too tight. But I'm worried for Jonathan and his longevity. But I want to give him credit for calling out this move at the right time. The only mistake being telling Joe about it. But who would have known Joe played such a loyal game in their minds in the previous season that he would go around run around tell everybody the plan of what's going to go on. But you've got to give full marks to Jonathan for wanting to take the shot.
38:37 He's there to try and win the game and I respect that even if he falls short this season. And nobody even gunned for him. Like I think six people or something were being gunned for and he wasn't one of them. And he was one of the ones that was driving sort of the challenge. >> the guy. He was the guy that was driving the bus. >> I guess he was Yeah, he was the guy cuz it's like the way that we saw it is it was him and him and he convinced Stephanie and then he convinced everybody else. And then he got he got he got backstabbed, I guess, by like three people. But It seems like it seems like Ozzy and Jonathan has some sort of a bromance going on that we probably aren't seeing as clearly as viewers on the on the show because even in the tribal council he was like, "You don't believe that, mate." Like it was bro whatever he said to him. Like I would never come for you type of thing. And it looked like Ozzy kind of believed him. And I think Jonathan's saving grace in this moment was that Stephanie never sold him out.
39:30 So, therefore she looked the guilty one in this whole scenario. And therefore they just said, "Well, Stephanie's the easy vote in this moment." But I thought it was a move. I thought Ric Devens Emily and the likes of an Aubry was playing it right. They were keen to get on board. Like the whole thing just fell flat the way we saw it with Joe running back to Cirie. And then at that moment Stephanie talking to Cirie and not being able to lie to Cirie it being so obvious. Like you can even see it through the TV screen. I was like if she came at me like that, you could just tell there's no eye contact. She's clearly uncomfortable talking to Cirie in this moment. and this is now the fourth time that Cirie's outplayed Stephanie in these games, right? So she's played four times in different reality TV shows with her and every single time she's bested Stephanie in this game. At some point you'd think that Stephanie would get the clear picture that Cirie's not there to play with her.
40:26 Yeah, just work with Cirie until final four and then cut her at final four. Like that's the that's the winning move there. I think there's only like three people in Survivor history that won that way essentially. so But she doesn't allow for Stephanie to get there. She's never allowed for Stephanie to get that deep in the game. Well, but I don't know why Stephanie isn't trying to work closer with Cirie. Why did Stephanie try to lie to Cirie? Why did Why did they end up on the If I'm if I'm Stephanie, I know my game so well and I know that Cirie knows my game so well. I'm not going to you're not going to win. If you're Stephanie, you're never going to win in that situation because nobody's going to respect your game if you're just you just Unfortunately, I have to say I Stephanie's just not a very good player. Like she's pretty bad and we saw that in Guatemala. she was actually okay in Palau, but I think that was just and she was terrible in Heroes vs.
41:17 Villains. I hadn't seen Snake in the Grass or her Traitors game or anything like that. But she's not she's not a good player to be honest. She's just like she's the classic stereotypical athletic person playing the game trying to win like immunities and things like that. That's kind of her and old school loyalty, loyal to the soil, to the people that she's close to type of thing, but I don't know how much strategy. We haven't seen the strategy side from Stephanie in these games as of yet. So and that's why I think Cirie gets to a point where she's like you're just not playing like you can't be playing with people that are not playing at your level, right? Cuz they bring you down to your level and then beat you with experience at the end of the day. I'm pretty sure that's the saying. So Steph Cirie's probably like I don't want to get dragged down by Stephanie's game. It's messy. It's not good. I'd rather play with people like Cirie who's very good strategically, Ozzy who has been surprisingly good this season.
42:10 Like Ozzy's playing a really good game. I even think that again, you know, I'm feeling less and less certain about Cirie as a potential winner for this season, Andre, because he's disappearing very quickly in the edit. They're kind of burying him a little bit at the moment. but Ozzy and Cirie still getting a pretty solid edit. I think Ozzy there's many ways where I can still see him being portrayed in a very positive light where if he won this season, I wouldn't be surprised. I think the other person who's now starting to sneak into my top three for the very first time this season. I've been low on this person the whole season. There's other YouTubers who've been raving about this person since the beginning of the season. They're saying that this person's winning the show. I've never seen it, but Aubry in my mind starting to get a little bit of she's coming onto my radar and I tell you why, Andre. That scene this episode where she was talking about Michelle's win and how she thought she deserved to win in that season, but she can now see that Michelle did all the right moves late in the game that got her the win and that she's kind of channeling Michelle's energy and how she won that season.
43:14 You've spoken to it before where if you've played a season with someone and you've seen how they've won the game, sometimes you emulate that type of gameplay. I don't think she's got the same charisma that Michelle Fitzgerald's got, but I think she's explaining to us how she potentially could win this season, which is I've just been laying low for long enough to not be the biggest target. I've survived a couple of early attacks on my life in this game, but now towards the end game, this is where I'm going to ramp it up. And she's said a few times, people forget I'm dangerous at this game. Like there's just these little snippets and these little tidbits that we're getting in the edit that they're telling us in the confessional. If she's not going to do anything big, Andre, for the rest of the season, why are we seeing her more than a Tiffany, for example? Like what makes her more interesting than Tiffany's game at this stage? I think Tiffany's game would have been up until this point much more interesting cuz she's playing with the power players in the season. Aubry's not playing with them, but yet we keep being told she's got a plan to get to the end.
44:08 This is what she's doing. We're being let into her journey. It's a good point. It's a good theory and I mostly agree with. To play devil's advocate on why we're seeing her under that sort of that hospice of that theory, maybe it's because taking Michelle's game isn't is a good analog of the theme of the season. So I you know, I've said this in the past. It's kind of like the Walter White Heisenberg effect where, you know, the character in Breaking Bad takes the attributes of the people he kills. Same thing with Survivor. You take the attributes of the people that have won the season. So she articulated perfectly. The person that wins the season is the person that makes the big moves at the end. So to me it might not necessarily be Aubry. It might just be a precursor to say, "Hey, kind of forget what you've seen on the pre like pre-merge.
45:01 What matters is what's coming ahead. Like who is the person from now on that is making the big moves?" And I'll play devil's advocate. And I think that I would actually probably add Devens into the mix as well. Cuz we haven't really seen that much We saw Devens when we need to see Devens. But I think that it's the big move artist. And again, like who won Ric Devens' season? It's the person that destroyed the end game that had probably the best final four days in Survivor history. how did Cirie How did the people that won Cirie's season how did they play? How Howie play in Micronesia? How did Yul play in Ozzy's case? And so we need to start to think about how did How did these people play? and then see which one fits which mold.
45:52 So someone like Jonathan, I don't see Jonathan playing Maryanne's game. So I don't think that thematically works. So if we put it on to under that sort of lens, it'd be interesting to see which ones fit underneath there and how does that inform who our winners' rankings are? And I think that Cirie, Ozzy, Aubry, and Devens, those fit that perfectly. Tiffany you know, Jonathan maybe not so much. I think maybe losing finalist there. Yeah. Yeah, I love your theory and I love you playing devil's advocate on the podcast. It's a definite possibility and it's interesting that the that the episode that she talked about the big moves and you can you can do these big things towards the end of the game is the exact episode where Devens comes out with his biggest move off the season. and we need to talk about it. We go to tribal council and at tribal council we learn about the Mr. Beast advantage and the fact that it's going to be a coin flip.
46:45 You know, you choose which side, heads or tails, you want to go for. If it lands on the one that you choose, you are safe for this vote. But not only are you safe for this vote, you get a full-blown immunity idol as well as a result of it. And you could just see from the very first moment that this twist was announced, the smile on Devens' face. Like Devens, he gets emboldened by chaos in the game. Like he loves it. Like he gets excited by these big match moments, these BMT moments. And he's pretty much from the start saying, "I'm doing this. Like there's just no way I'm not doing this." And were you surprised by him making this decision in the moment? Did you feel like Jeff said, it's a dopamine hit. Just think about your game here. Were you surprised? I mean obviously also the million to two million dollars was pretty exciting to see at the same time.
47:35 But he was literally playing with his life and his game the legacy of Ric Devens was in his hands here. He was taking it into his own hands, I guess, rather than just being voted out, which was a potential possibility. But what did you think of this moment? And what do you think was going through Ric's mind? Like what was the calculations he was making as he decided to go for this? I honestly I was is I think he should have done it for sure. And actually I'll go further. I'll say that there's actually a few people on this cast that they should have done it as well. I think that the If you're If you're going to want to like the goal is to win the game, right? But there are other things. Like just doing this, yes, you have a 50% chance of leaving. But I think the expected value of the amount of equity that you're able to sort of gain just by doing this and hopefully sort of you know, passing is I think significantly outweighs the negative in my opinion.
48:27 Especially if you're someone like Jonathan. If you're someone like Tiffany. If you're someone like Aubry. I mean Aubry said so herself. She's a psycho, right? Like the All these people should have volunteered in my opinion. And if I think if I was in the same position, I would as well. Cuz what's the worst going to happen? I get out and then they'll call me back. Well, the only the only scenario that you don't volunteer in this moment is if you are in the power. If you're confident, you have the power position, you're playing from the top. But to your point, there's a lot of other people here. Like Ric Devens is playing from the bottom. Stephanie knew that she was potentially going to catch votes on the day. I think it was a bad move for her not to put her hand up for this. Jonathan potentially could have considered it, but maybe he felt very confident in his relationships. Like nobody brought his name up. But I totally agree with you. Like what's the worst that can happen here for Ric Devens, someone like him, is that he ends up getting a coin flip kicking him out of the game.
49:22 He wasn't voted out of the game. It was just bad luck. But he goes out on his own terms. He doesn't get voted out. It's like, "Yeah, I can see where my game went wrong. I was being too risky in the moment." But he becomes a legend instantly because of the moment. The pure gravity of this moment, I think something that was going to be remembered either for good or bad for a very long time. And I think if you do the calculations, you don't have a great the chessboard's not great for you this season, right? Well, flip it over and reset and come back for another season cuz I think the person who stood up here would have had a story to be told in a future season. So, I think his chances, if it wasn't already very sky high to come back and play another season, it just would have become exponentially higher regardless of the outcome of this season. Yeah, it was there was no I mean, there was a downside if you could get it. But he probably would have been voted off anyway.
50:13 Let's be honest. Like he probably had a 50/50 chance of being voted off anyway. Or maybe in his mind maybe >> It sounded like it was a foregone conclusion from the exit interviews that I've heard. So, apparently it wasn't shown, but Stephanie did end up going and coming clean to Cirie and Ozzy and said, "Yes, I did mention your name, but I wasn't the one who brought it up. And I'm sorry I didn't come to you earlier." And it sounded like they were sort of saying, "Okay, well, let's just do the easy vote, which is going to be Rick Devens." Which is the big reason why she said I do Yeah, no, I do think that it's unreliable narrator, yeah. 100% but it kind of makes sense that Rick Devens was a clear option still at this moment. And I think if you think about the fact when she Well, sorry, Rick Devens came into the Tribal Council and spoke to Aubry and said, "I'm going to start blowing stuff up, right?" Like I think that would have potentially made like I liked it the antics of Rick Devens and saying, "This is exactly what happened.
51:07 These are the people who threw the name out. This is how it is. Why would I lie?" And then telling them that I haven't lied to you anything in this game. I think made him potentially a bigger target, but he was playing with fire already. So, he had nothing to lose in my mind because it could have backfired on him very easily as well. And he's done this once successfully before in his season with the pilots and passengers Tribal Council. He did that last season. He did exactly the same thing. Again, you know, with the twist you're never going to know what would have happened until I guess there's probably more information from sort of like exit interviews, but I just see the again like the like really good sort of parallels to earlier seasons. because we've seen him do that before. So, he's just playing you know, doing the same playbook and it's just classic Devens. Got to love to see it. Yeah, totally agree. BBG says, "I think Aubry is winning. I think it goes back to Carl saying one of the tribe needs to win." If they when he got medevac'd, I originally thought it would be Q and then Colby.
52:02 And now I think it's Aubry. and I think it's a possibility BBG, but I also think Survivor could throw that in as a red herring to a certain degree. So, I don't know if that is a foregone conclusion, but there is definitely certain Easter eggs that the production team likes to throw into the edit throughout a season. And there's a few things that's got my like I wasn't on the Aubry train for a very long time, but I can see it more as a potential after this last episode. Scott saying, "As Devens said, the 50/50 of a coin toss is better odds than a one out of six shot in the dark." And that's another thing. It's the odds the odds. Like he had to potentially go to the shot in the dark with no additional upside. And at that point it becomes simple math. You're going to take the risk. You're going to go up there and do it. I do want to talk about the fact though, Andre, that if this twist turned out differently, right?
52:54 And everybody was too fearful, which probably nine out of 10 seasons you could have a cast where everybody is like, "I don't want to do this. It's too risky. I don't want to lose my game over this." And everybody was forced to play the twist by going to rocks. That's the part of the twist that I didn't like. I liked the twist and I think the twist could have a place in the game in the future with minus the rocks. It should be a If anybody is ballsy enough to stand up and do this, they get a shot at doing it. If any If there's a tie between different people, they make fire to see who actually gets to do it or whatever the challenge is. But I don't like the rocks element and forcing people to play. It's the same thing when they force people to go on this ship journey to an island to lose their vote. They're forcing the game. And to me, that takes control away from the players. I want it to be a strategic decision that the players themselves have the control on if they're going to do it or they can't do it because then it has more for waiting to me and more for legitimacy to me than being forced to go to rocks and then somebody being potentially forced Imagine Cirie being forced at the position that she's in the game right now.
53:59 It doesn't make sense for her to do this cuz she's clearly in the power. She has to go up there. She flips a coin. It lands on the wrong thing and she's out of the game. People would have hated this twist if that was the outcome and if she was forced to do that. I mean, again to play devil's advocate, it's the same sort of thing with ties, right? And I and rocks are a very good sort of mechanic because it the players have to figure out a way to not go to rocks if they don't want to take that decision. I would apply the same logic here. If Cirie was forced to go to rocks, Cirie, are you really that good that you couldn't have convinced somebody that it's in their best interest to go to not go to rocks and to It is my honest opinion that someone like Devens, someone like Jonathan, someone like Tiffany won a immunity, but he can give up immunity. >> So, let's play it out. Let's play it out. I like I like you the way your brain's working here and how what you're thinking about.
54:53 So, [snorts] best moment here, we don't have anybody putting up their hand. They don't want to go and do it. Jeff says, "Well, it's going to look like rocks soon, guys." And then you and your alliance go, "Hey, Andre, sorry, mate. It was always going to be you, right? And we're putting we're going to be putting votes on you. And I just want you to know that this is probably a better shot for you than playing your one out of six shot in the dark at this point because the votes are coming your way. We've got five people that are coming at you." And you kind of pressure someone that way into potentially taking the risk cuz a one out of two is better than a one out of six. And basically saying, "If you don't take this risk and someone else gets forced to go, we still have the votes to vote you out after that. But you would have had a better shot than you." It's like the carrot and the stick, right? You're talking about the stick. I'm talking about I think the carrot is the right way of going. It's like If only If only Cirie was in a in a really tight alliance with somebody that wanted to become a legend.
55:45 Hmm. I wonder [clears throat] who that person could be. You know, you whisper into Rizo's ear and be like, "Rizo, this is your chance to be truly legendary, to be one of the best." >> Yeah, this would be cinema. This would be cinema. You're in front of you'll be in front of Mr. Beast, who is like your brother's hero, I guess. Like [laughter] I think Cirie could have easily convinced Rizo to do that. He could She could have probably convinced like Ozzy to do that in my opinion. Like Ozzy's had a history of you know, let me go to Redemption Island. So, I think you know, if no one wanted to go, I think that Cirie still could have pulled off some magic there. She might have had to sacrifice somebody, but you know, at least she isn't sacrificed. Yeah, fair point. Well, obviously we know the outcome. Rick Devens ultimately gets the coin flip right.
56:36 As it should be, he gets the idol. He's safe in this moment, ultimately sending Stephanie home in the vote. What do you think is going to happen next? Do you think that Rick Devens plays that bad boy at the next Tribal Council or does he try and do another fake out? Like I feel like Rick Devens is a madman and potentially will try and see if he can hold on to that idol for a for a round at least. That's what where I'm sort of thinking he's going in the next episode. But he truly now has power. Everybody knows he's got a real idol. Yeah, and well, my question is it just a regular idol, right? Because it's a regular idol is a hidden immunity idol. This is not a hidden immunity idol. He got it publicly. So, this makes me believe it could be a super I don't know if it'll be like a Tony style super idol, but it could be a idol with special some sort of special power in my opinion. Like I don't know, like a not a Billie Eilish idol, like a I don't know who's a Sia idol, something like that.
57:29 Who knows? And Sia came up with a really good idea for an idol. An idol that can be played for two people. Perhaps, yeah. Yeah. Or one that I don't know that could last for two Tribal Councils, something stupid like that. Who knows? But that's my theory because it's like if you give somebody and like there's been under power idols. We've seen under powered idols all season. I think there's going to be a something a little overpowered, which may ruin the season or may make it really interesting to watch. So, it would In his season there was an idol that you had to give half it to David Wright. And then they had to bring it together, which was a stupid twist. So, he's not a stranger to this. I think something like that's going to happen. but I mean, in terms of game theory, I don't know what to think about that. I think that if you're if you're Rick, you're going to say, "I'm going to look I this one's actually real.
58:22 I'm actually going to play it." Then you don't play it. Then you lost another Like no I don't think they have enough people to split on Rick, I don't think. And even if they do, he'll catch wind of it. So, they really need to flush the idol if they really want to get rid of him. What do you think? Yeah, no, I totally I totally agree. They have to flush the idol in this moment, really. And the later you keep Rick Devens in the game, to your point, the more chaotic things are going to get with less players in the game. Like I don't think you want him to go too far. But now they've got legitimately out of nine people, three people with an idol. Like I think it's the perfect time to take a shot at Rizo or Ozzy because the focus is going to be on the person who just got the public idol. And they're going to be like, "Okay, how do we get rid of this person that is not in the alliance?" But I just don't know who's the numbers right now. It feels like the numbers have just disappeared because Joe's clearly with Cirie by the looks of it and giving Cirie a lot of information.
59:17 Tiff is with Joe and Cirie, I think. Devens is with Cirie. Everyone's with Cirie is the thing. >> Everyone's with Cirie. So where's the numbers coming from to take out a Rizo or an Ozzy at this stage in the game? I just don't know if they have it. Like you've got Emily and Rick who's obviously willing to make a move. Jonathan's willing to make a move. That's three people in a nine-person tribe. Like, I just don't see a way where they don't get targeted. I guess there's Emily as well. Emily's the fourth. but yeah, it's it seems kind of lopsided at this stage. Are we potentially in for a boring Cirie Rizz of what is it? The Rizz of Oz or something like that? Cirie Rizz of Oz? Like steamrolled to the end? I mean, that's what happens when you've got dominant game play, right? You know, you see that in Redemption Island, you see that in One World. And it just becomes like a boring end game.
1:00:08 You know, I hope not. as much as I want Cirie to win or you know, one of those three to win, I don't want it to be a steamroll because that'll be a bit of a downer. Like, you kind of you kind of want a bit of chaos. So, maybe it could be a thing where it's like it becomes obvious that Cirie is the one controlling the game. They don't want to take a shot at Cirie, so they take a shot at someone like Ozzy. And they say, "Hey look, let me let's just like we like we us that aren't part of that three or part aren't part of Cirie's sort of like, you know, protection ring. Let's try to let's add chaos to the pile. Like, if you're essentially if you're if you're I mean, Rick and Aubry obviously wants chaos. They could probably convince Jonathan to say, "Hey Jonathan, you're your alliance is pretty much gone. Let's try to go for some chaos as well. Let's try to like shake up the game a little bit." Then you got Joe and like I guess you probably get Tiffany as well.
1:01:02 So, that's four people right there. try to like just dump one. If you have five if you have five votes, you can probably dump one dump on someone like an Ozzy just to at least get them to flush the idol. That's probably the most likely way of it happening. Like some sort of coalition. Scott here says the way Jeff told him to look at the idol later, there may be some strange aspect to it that we don't know. Arthur here says Gen Z Survivor Cirie and her sheep versus purple Kelly Armada. and then Alexa oh sorry, Alexa says Cirie's Rizz of Oz is definitely not boring. LOL, a steamroll by the three of them is still more interesting since they weren't even supposed to be working together. It's true. It's just if you see the same alliance I guess and it would be interesting to see how they manage to get to the end without anybody picking up on the fact that the all three of them are working together because up until this point, I don't think a lot of people know that Rizz is working with Cirie.
1:01:59 From what I've been told. Like, you know, hearing the Stephanie exit interviews, she had no idea that Rizz was that close to Cirie at all in the game. So, I think that's a very interesting hidden alliance that's working really well. So, there's still definitely some interesting things. I think when I'm talking about that, I kind of want Devens to have some longevity in the game because I just think it will be fun and I don't want it to be her next, basically. Alexa's saying follow the yellow brick road. For wink. let's have a quick look at the draft here this week. And you know, things are starting to the wheels are starting to come off the bus for me at the moment as well, Andre. It used to be smooth sailing at one point. but now those days are far gone with Stephanie being the next person in my tribe or group that has been voted out. We've got Joe, Ozzy, and Aubry left with only an Ozzy and Aubry win that would feel satisfying to me at this stage.
1:02:54 Like, I'm definitely out on the Joe train. You've got Andre, you've got Devens in your game and he's still >> He's throwing haymakers. He's making big moves. Yeah, making big moves. TNT community killing it at the moment with Cirie, Queen Cirie, Tiff, Jonathan, Rizz, and Emily still left in the game. So, clearly lots and lots of options there for them. I'm quickly going to go through the points and then after the points we can talk about what our predictions are for the next episode. we've got at the bottom at this stage still yourself, unfortunately, Andre with Devens. bringing in some good points for you because I gave him a point for surviving this episode. I gave him a point for finding or playing an advantage, so you found that advantage.
1:03:44 Which I think will count because he did get it. And then I also gave him three points for making a big move because it was a big move. So, Oh yeah. a really good episode for you. With only one player, you end up on seven points, which is not bad at all for this round. that pushes you up to 52 points in total. Still a bit off from the second place team, which is still TNT community at 102. But TNT community is starting to narrow the gap between myself and them. Cirie survived, Tiff survived, and also got that immunity for extra points. Jonathan survived, Rizz and Emily survived. And then I also gave the big move to Cirie. Two big moves this week because I think Cirie's the one who changed the vote away again from Ozzy here to target Stephanie ultimately in the game ultimately in the game. So, all up like I said, 102 points for TNT community.
1:04:36 I did end up on zero points this week because Joe ended up getting one point for surviving. Ozzy got one point for surviving. and then we had in this moment Stephanie getting caught in a lie in front of Cirie with two points and then minus five points for being voted out. So, ultimately it came down to zero points for me this week. I remain on 111 points. So, 111 points and 102 points makes that gap only nine points between our teams at this point. And I think I'm in some serious trouble for the rest of the season with some additional players left in the TNT community. They could be steamrolling both of us, Andre, by the way things are going. Yeah, but they still have a lot to lose. So, you never know. Yeah, so it's It just it depends I mean, just depends on who's the winner at this stage.
1:05:28 Yeah. I hate to say it, but I think I think Ozzy has a has everyone beaten him in my opinion. Yeah. I think an Ozzy an Ozzy win at this stage would be fun if it's not Cirie. Like, obviously if I could choose Cirie winning the season would feel right cuz she's controlling everything, but we know that there's some serious dangers for her in the end game that she needs to overcome to get to that final spot. So, that probably knocks her down to second place in my estimations at this stage. I would also have Ozzy at number one. third place at one point I had Rizz in there, but like I mentioned, I think Rizz has dropped off that top three spots for me just because of visibility at this stage. He's not as visible, but one or two good episodes and we could see him come back. It's not unheard of for a winner just to take a few episodes off being out of the limelight. But someone who's been consistent since day one with the edit and I still think there's Easter eggs in there of them potentially winning.
1:06:21 For the first time ever, I've got Aubry in my top three I think here for the end game as someone that I think could win the season. But I agree with you, I do think that both Jonathan and Devens they're still away, you know, as well. Like, there's still things that can happen for them to win. Jonathan's got a lot of friends on that jury. I mean, Aubry would have to go to a final three with a very unique set of people to win in my opinion cuz I don't think she could go with Devens. Like, Devens would beat her. Yeah, well Joe. Joe is one of them. Joe, Tiffany, I don't know if Jonathan. I've No, I think Jonathan has a lot of friends if he gets there. I think like Emily, Joe, and Tiffany. >> Yeah. So, but I just don't see that happening. I see if her getting to the end, I just don't see the Rizz of Oz alliance really breaking down that much that one of them don't make it to the final three.
1:07:18 Or if she goes the other way and somehow they she manages to run the game with Devens into the final four, I just don't see any way that she can sort of I can see her getting to the end, but I just don't see getting to the end with the right people. I can see how she can win on a on an edit wise, but game wise I find it very hard to see how she can >> That's fair call. Yeah, it's a fair it's a fair call. It's a very unique situation for her to get to the end and win. I'll leave it there. I'll still I'll stick with my maybe she'll drop out again next week. We'll see and something will happen that will prove me completely wrong. But I feel the strongest about Cirie and Ozzy at this stage. I guess is what I'm saying. in this stage of the game. But yeah, it's been a very interesting year for the draft with both of us struggling. Woolly says that they still have five left. We're coming for you, Chris. And then BBG is saying, "I think Rizz's destiny is to lose at fire again.
1:08:12 Two-time fire loser." Have we had a two-time fire loser before? I don't know if we have. Cirie? I think. Oh, this Yeah, true. She did. >> she did lose she did lose in Australian Survivor, didn't she? At least. So, And she did lose. And she I think she did twice making final twice in Australian Survivor. Actually, that doesn't count. Doesn't count. I don't know if she did it another time. Did she not do it in No, she got voted off at final three in Micronesia, didn't she? Yes. Yeah. Yeah, I think she's only one time. So, he might So, he might make history for a completely different reason. Maybe one that he never actually >> as well. I could see Jonathan going out in final four in final making. Yeah. He's still he's still in the running as well. Cirie lost in fire in Panama. Yeah, Panama and Australian Survivor is I was I was I was >> she has done twice, but not in US Survivor.
1:09:07 That's it. I don't think there's anything else we haven't discussed from this episode. So, unless there's anything you can think of. nothing. I think we covered it all. Yeah. We made some good ground here, team. thank you so much for everybody that jumped in the live and that have taken part in the conversation, asking great questions throughout. I hope you enjoyed the live. I hope you enjoyed the episode. I hope you have a fabulous weekend and if you're watching this at a later stage and you didn't see it live, consider liking, consider commenting, subscribing to the channel, all that good stuff. We will be back next week and let's hope for an even better episode. I don't know if the next episode will top the adrenaline, the dopamine mix of watching Devin nearly going out in flames and ultimately walking away with a super advantage idol. But yeah, it was an exciting week. So excited to talk to you Andrea about this and you know, we'll be back next week to talk about all of this again.
1:10:01 Grab your torches guys, head back to camp. We'll catch you next week. Bye. Bye.
