Survivor UK: Episodes 7 & 8 Review

0:00 Hello everyone and welcome back to the nullified Tech channel here on YouTube where we've got the TNT text for you on Survivor UK episode seven and eight the last week of the Prem merge and let me tell you V the game play is really starting to rack up but before we get into any of that I just want to say thank you so much V for coming on you are the Beautiful the amazing the Glamorous the Fantastic co-host I could ever ask for so ladies and Gentlemen please welcome The Great and Wonderful v how are you I'm good thanks for having me again yeah it's exciting to see some of the gameplay actually ramp up we needed it we definitely did but not going to lie I do miss the very e easy game playay you know you L just sit back and you don't have to think about anything you can sit back watch it some people may find it boring but you know sometimes it's just nice knowing that people are voting wherever they want because there's just no strategy well life was simple back then and now it's not so simple it really was like how the turntables have turned am I right how the turntables but yeah I think you know we both agree the strategy is really picked

1:20 Up and I think your claim early in the season of maybe they're hiding some of the strategy is definitely come true because I feel like this week we got to see so much more strategy from Chris from Ash you know we even saw a bit from you know Hannah D pretty much everyone even Pig Le we saw some great strategy and mad dog shy is finally become the Strategic Mastermind you know IR is telling us he's the Strategic Mastermind Pig Le and Doug wanted to come over just to take him out because he's that big of a strategic three but V he only made one move and that was enough I mean I think the moves muff have been happening right under our noses when we weren't watching because he had such a reputation it was huge yeah but I think these guys this week have proved that they're no slouchers they have watched the game once or twice and I think the editors were maybe easing us into the whole idea of idols and blindsides and splitting votes and things like that and yeah it's we're not having we're not having tea and crumpets anymore we're actually getting into the nitty-gritty so very exciting yeah

2:40 It's like the Harry Potter films where your first couple you as a light bre is an easy watch but then the second the Order of the Phoenix happens you've got your crazy drama you know where's a hul Croc who is this Dark Lord Voldemort you know that's coming around like oh my gosh everyone's just nuts and crazy so yeah does what Happ to survive UK now do you think that perhaps Nathan or even Doug and pigle have' got secret H cres placed everywhere with how they're able to survive those two tribals oh very possibly who knows who knows what the ukrainians have up their sleeve ukrainians that's a word I made up ukrainians AR Pig has got one in this like artificial leg absolutely so they might need to grab the sword and give it a good old hack off absolutely but you know we finally get to see koton the orange tribe go to tribal and that's where majority of the drama had happened this week there's definitely some drama happening at the blue tribe I reckon we talk about Kellon first and then we make our way over to the blue tribe so we had four original you know orange members and Shai Lawrence Nate and Jess and two new

4:00 Members Doug and pegle what was your thoughts on everything that happened in the orange tribe this week I think it was a fabulous move by pegleg and Doug to kind of infiltrate where the fractures were and they were spot on spot on with the fractures and just really took an opportunity to get Shai and Lawrence on their side and Nathan just didn't seem to see it coming because the obvious idea would be to work as the four catonian and get out either Doug or pegging Doug didn't even need to sniff out his Idol at all he didn't even need to make mention of it didn't need to have it prepared it was just an excellent play and one that I think you and I both sort of thought that might be how they how they manage it and it worked like a charm yeah I thought that some kind of strategic move was going to happen I thought that shy you know he knows he on the bottom he's definitely going to flip but I didn't think that Lawrence was as tight with shy as what they seem to be this week you know we do see that in last week Lawrence wants to save shy over you know R and J simply because of the strength of

5:20 What on that's just an easy person to vote of the following week but we never saw this relationship really you know really grow because we do kind of see them discussing different strategies in front of Nathan in the second episode this week and they really are bouncing off each other quite well what's your thoughts on the Lawrence and Shai relationship I mean perhaps Lawrence could say that there was definitely a Duo happening with Jess Nathan and being a third wheel is never fun so he maybe that was more the of the indication that he saw a really strong whether he knows about the other two on the other tribe now or not but yeah he saw the opportunity to make a new pack of four and it was just a really good move all around I you know I'm sad to see Jess get voted out I thought she was just lovely and wonderful and fantastic but excellent move you know it's best to keep Nathan while you still need muscle yeah obvious choice couldn't have done it better myself I feel like Doug and pigle made the Right Moves In both tribal councils you know there's a lot of talk of oh what if sh Shai not shy what if Jess was gonna

6:41 Flip and they can do like a 321 on Shai you know or maybe they'll side with shy and Lawrence and take out Nathan move together as a four I feel like they strategically place themselves where they needed to be you know they know that you know sh Lawrence will likely to work with them their J so they take out J they know that if there's not emerge the following week or The Following episode then they're stuck in 22 right so they know that they take out shy then at least it's a 211 rather than just two so definitely they've plac them like together they've done such a great job and not only POS positioning themselves well but actually taking full control on who actually goes home at tribal definitely a Duo to watch come the merge and see just where how they pick their alliances whether they stick together or move on yeah they're definitely they're moving up in my picks for potential finalists yeah no me too I think DG and pig League definitely make you know final six final five I think because they're in this you know TRS up together this really you know really made their relationship

8:01 Close and their bond tight because as we do see in the blue tribe it's not all happy days you know we do see a couple arguments you know flying around but one thing I do want to you know sort of get back on the orange tribe do you think it was the right move for Shai and Lawrence to flip on Jason Nate now no probably not I think the smarter thing for them would be to stay orange strong going into the merge yeah I mean I really do think Doug and pegleg were calling the shots like you said they took control of the tribe and they made the decisions and I really do think Shai and Lawrence were sort of along for the ride a little bit because come merge they really could have made some agreements with Jess and Nathan just based on the original tribe members so no it was probably not the best idea yeah I do think for shy though it was probably the best idea just simply based on the fact that he's already on the bottom yeah you know like where else does he really have to go and I think for Lawrence you know he was voted for by jus

9:21 And Rachel he does consider himself to be the third well I think if they moved together as the four that you know potentially would have been great for both of them but I think Unfortunately they heavily underestimated dark and pig Le I think so yeah but what was your thoughts on Jess you had be to talk to much about her in this Rec what's your thoughts on J overall she was she was gorgeous she was a beast she was she they missed an opportunity with her balance as that was brought up again you know as a feminist I'm always sad to see women get voted out I don't think that was the conscious decision I think when you look at strength you can't dismiss that Nathan is stronger than Jess it's you know there's no competition there and so I think that was where they were coming from less of the female issue more of the muscles issue so yeah it was sad to see her go but I just thought it was just so great of Doug and pegle to take control like that you know you couldn't fault it yeah it was definely quite safe for Jess because she has proven in a lot of challenges though there she is a lot stronger than what you know people might seem like

10:41 Literally the host had to take her out of a challenge how far was her right to pass out it was her it was her right to pass out yeah so I do really think that if you're to look at the tribe on like why is in pig Le and option to F out you know with this leag but I think it's cuz I think they use tribe strength as a reason to taret I really think it was simply because you know she's TI with t Matthew and Nathan absolutely and I think people that can just great socially to integr your way in absolutely no one at any point was looking at the at the tribe as a whole and going okay who what will give us the best chance of winning it really was Doug and pegleg had to make a choice between Jess and Nathan they needed one or both one or either of them gone regardless of which one and they saw muscles and thought well that's as good a reason as any well do you think it would have been smart of them to take out Nathan and keep Jess you know with an individual game CH well I mean that's the thing if everyone knew exactly how many votes were left to the merge maybe they would have taken an opportunity to take Nathan out going well it's nearly merged

12:02 So we might not go to tribal next week let's do it now but they just don't know if it could be another two or three yeah well if you're because if you're D in pig league and you are sort of kind of tearing this tribe apart why not try and go to Every trial right you know there's a point that Chris was making up on the other tribe but if you have complete control on your tribe you know you need to get rid of some of these numbers before the merge why not just keep going to trial you know because that really at each other's throats just stop picking them off one by one by one well you know how I feel about throwing challenges and I think I think it's very all it's all well and good to have control of a tribe this is just my personal opinion and it's I don't think necessarily everyone would agree with me but it's really it's important to have control of your tribe if you're going to tribal but if you can avoid tribal I think that's what makes you ultimately stronger and makes you a bit Invincible it'd be really good for Doug to not have to in his mind to not think about using that Idol before although does he have to use it before merge I can't remember he does doesn't he that's actually a really good question I'm pretty sure it's up to three tribals that

13:22 He so he's attended two the next one should be the last time he can use it well yeah and you'd sort of think you know if you don't have to use it that's better and you've got it in your pocket I think I think it's good to have a plan but if plan number one in my opinion should be don't go to tribal or go to tribal with immunity you know that's number one but I know a lot of people would disagree with me on that one yeah it's a tricky one right because you have the argument of like yeah you know if you don't go to tribal at least You' got more numbers that you could potentially work with but my sort of argument and this is something I love seeing because have you seen traitors a little bit yeah a little bit so in one of the traitor Kennedy so it's one of the great players Kev brought up an intering argument of I'm going to banish someone not because I think they're a traitor just because they are someone who I can't work with right so you might have like for Alliance or like a big Alliance but if you have some people who are you know obviously on the bottom who you think could potentially flip like a shy why not just keep going to tribal and F them out or if your soul intention

14:42 Is you L back up with your previous tribe why not just keep getting rid of all the new numbers it's definitely the big boys game doing it that way I would be playing the little girls game where it's I'm too scared to do anything but yeah it's ballsy and it's and it's huge you know it takes a lot of courage and yeah I don't know if I could ever play like that but you know this is also the reason I would get off the boat but this Al was the reason why I'll be the first one to vote it out right I'm like yeah I'm here to throw challenges and vot it's a delicate balance and I think unfortunately it's all just got Instinct at the time you know yeah exactly but we also do see unfortunately Mad Dog shy mad do Mad Dog shy the Strategic Mastermind of the Kellon tribe you know the strategy was all there we saw him you know discussing with Lawrence do we vote out you know Nathan and stick with L or do we stick with Nathan you know like my gosh you know what insane strategy someone

16:02 Better call George because someone's out doing him at the moment you know oh it was and it's just fun it's just Doug and pegle aren't there to make any lasting friendships you know you know now that we're moving on to what happened the next episode it was really clear that they're not they're not there to make friendships they're not there to make their lasting Alliance they're there to tear the tribe apart and make them weak and build themselves up and it's just fabulous and it was another fantastic move yeah and mad dog shy got caught in the crosshairs he did do you think it was the smart move because originally do see Nathan just wanting to vote Shai just because he's finally had enough of Shai of his craziness yeah of this you know complete Insanity of strategy like oh my God go my gosh but do you think it was the smart move to go for someone like shy and not a Lawrence what's your like do you think they should have got Lawrence or well I get the impression that Nathan can work with Lawrence a bit better than he can with Shai clearly Shai had was maybe a little bit of a brick wall

17:22 You know I think that's maybe what we're getting at that it's he just wasn't someone that people thought they could work with and when you've got to toss it up I mean everyone's very keen to listen to Doug and pegle which you know that's the thing that's why they're so compelling and they're just calling all the shots that made the whole tribe just turn on each other immediately and orange strong isn't going into the merge orange strong at all no you know and so yeah I guess Shai was just not someone he could work with and went Lawrence instead but I mean Lawrence I don't know which what friends he'll have next episode going into the merge yeah because something oh sorry after you no that's okay I don't see you know he's maybe got Nathan but he's going to have to hustle to make some new friendships I think yeah cuz you know if we go into the immunity challenge that it happened that episode you know T leani were very upset

18:43 That they voted out J and Lawrence you know he makes some out there out there comments you know about how you know it's all about testosterone yeah over here and oh no and it was it was it was bad was pretty bad feel bad for laughing I do I hate to call it but I think Lawrence might be if he doesn't win immunity I think he might be one of the first booted post merge because I just don't think he's got the friends anymore Nathan's going to run back to his orange mates T Tanuki and I even think Leilani will probably go back to that sort of orange origin oh and poor Lawrence he's out there making dodgy remarks which you could tell he was just trying to be that's the thing you say things on the Fly and then it's just like oh no that didn't sound how I thought but then I don't have time to explain it was a joke oh okay that's just there now I do think he genuinely did mean it as a joke you know I don't think he meant it as anything more or you know to be like hurtful offensive or anything I do think m is a joke but was just a heated situation where they're very pissed at

20:03 Him and he's just adding more F to the fire basically you know like don't call us you know misogynists but you know there's nothing wrong with aerone oh gosh not good not good buddy it was it was not good I was yeah I was exactly in the same position as what I am now as I was watching episode and I was just yeah I was I laugh a lot like I laugh at everything like especially when I'm awkward that's when I tend to really laugh a lot because I just want to escape and I was just awkwardly laughing like oh Lawrence lawence yeah but I think you're right I think when it comes to merge time which maybe it was a smart move then to take out shy over Lawrence because Shai could I mean Lawrence has been performing well at these individual challenges as well but maybe Shai is seen more as a challenge threat was apparently a beast and Unstoppable so yeah he was a challenge Beast a strategic Mastermind he had all the control of power and now finally King Shai has gone and his beautiful hair

21:23 Yes it's beautiful luscious his green and you know black dotted like oh he's got that social game I'm sad to see him go I quite liked him actually and I was I found him intriguing more than anything yeah I mean it's kind of like you know I've been rereading some of the Hungry Games books again right and I feel like a lot of lot of the times in the mocking J part one is sort of telling you ah something really important is going to happen but nothing really happens the same thing with SH like oh he a strategic bus way he's got to run the game was going to do all these dangerous things and but nothing but there's nothing to show that he's doing of that you know you can't run I don't think I ever saw him in I don't think I ever saw him in control of vote even I don't know if we ever I mean he L that J boo which W what a power move you know like you know I think if you were to list you know tribal councils that are like insanely iconic you've got you know at number two George taking out Fraser and then number one Shai taking out Jess right I think that was The Blind Side of all blind BL poor Jess she was she was so upset as well she certainly

22:43 Did not see that coming but yeah but I really do feel bad for sh I know that I've definitely taken the piss out of him a lot on these podcast I'm only just going off based on the edit but I wanted them to be what everyone is saying who he is like I you know disly wanted to give you the tickets to go see po blood in how to the sequel you know not only I've got another person I can talk about it with but also because I genely wanted to see shy this like insane strategist never got to see it we never got to see it we never got to see it or do you think that one move he did on Jess is justifiable enough for him to the Strategic Mastermind of the Season what I don't think he was entirely pulling the strings for that one personally I don't think we get prizes for being puppets but no I think you know it's just it's such it you know it's easy for us to talk about but he was obviously trying to get something going he was obviously trying to really pick and choose who he interacted with and just never got the opportunity to actually they're just far better players than him and

24:04 Yeah I mean you play for the cast you're dealt with right and I feel like we've got players like Ren for example who potentially might have expected a cast to be you know a bit more strategic based and L like emotional based like oh no You didn't tell me about the idol clue well now I have to vote you out because you're too much of right and yeah and I think the same thing with shy I think if maybe the cast's a bit more strategic you got more room to play with but I do think that they wanted to take him out for just really no reason the entire time he too bossy okay yeah they could be bit annoying but then is okay he's too quiet because he listened to the advice we gave him now he's too quiet you know how dare he go up in that challenge against Lee and not like even though he won like oh my gosh was just a bit of a click there you know it was a bit of a click and he never really stood a chance same with Lawrence so yeah and Doug and pegle took full advantage of that yeah that absolutely did but we are going into the merch though and no one has found the Katon Idol hope they don't change beaches because there's an idol there somewhere some producer will have to go move it

25:24 Yeah it's quite funny because I've I was planning my own you know Survivor season I'm doing with mates and I'll be doing it in a few weeks for my 22nd actually drunk Survivor is what I'm calling it if you lose you have to finish a bottle like if you lose the challenge yeah it's going to be oh be great but the one thing I'm always scared of is that F producer is where did I put the item you know like oh crap it's not here it's not here you know I put it here I put it here did anyone move it oh my gosh speaking of Idols I'll be sad to see the tribal immunity go with the that the glorified stick or stump or whatever it is with a with a tiara on it I love there's the gift going around where it's just El Liza going it's a stick SE that all I could think of it was a stick wearing a tiara really yeah so it be sad to see that go for individual Community all the environmentalists would be glad that they're adding some glimmer you know to the trees right exactly that stump will be there for all eternity

26:45 Now with the tiara on right is there is there anything else you want to talk about with the orange TR no I have to I'll put my Tom hat for a minute and think it was slightly lackluster these two episodes I'm excited for the merge so little bit lackluster but I didn't fall asleep like Tom did my iron levels are better but the thing about Tom is that he falls asleep during really great stuff you know fell asleep during this soer show you know my wife shouldn't bad everyone she may not know it yet but I certainly do he fell asleep during that show numerous times so there Tom really have any good taste probably not no it's not probably not he definitely does not so is that is that why he's not here did you dispatch of him somewhere anyway so with the blue tribe so with the blue tribe it's quite funny because even though they did not go to tribal I feel like everything interesting going on all leads to the blue tribe [Music] they' got interesting Dynamics happening yes so we do see that Chris he's

28:05 You know he's really starting to play the game extremely hard now and he recognizes that if they' skip losing the challenges voting off the original Kon the numbers will be po bit more even or they'll be more control when it comes to merge what did you think of Chris I mean I think you know what you know what I think he's putting the big boy pants on he's flying too close to I mean but who was Lee had a point with the way you throw a challenge little less obvious than Chris was doing with the with the handstands and the cartwheels and the around generally and then they won yeah they still won I found that so funny it was the orange sh had like a l that was like facing that would be the only reason you know and that's well I like that I you know I like Chris and I think that he's got ideas strong ideas I would play a little bit you know a little bit more under the radar but he's choosing not to which I think could bite him in the bum I can see Lee bristling

29:26 You know they had that old alation and really the bottom of that altercation that Lee and Chris had was that it wasn't Lee's idea I think that when we get to the real nitty-gritty there was an idea going on that he wasn't in charge of and you could tell that really pissed him off as The Godfather that he wants to be in charge of every move that happens within that tribe and Lee was quite right you don't do it by doing cartwheels and stuff you got to be a lot more strategic than that so yeah that was a really interesting Dynamic I don't think those two will stick together come merge I think they'll Branch off into their own packs because I don't see Lee and Chris being able to work together long term yeah I think for the first few merge votes they will stick together because I think it really is such strong blue versus orange mentality going on but I do think that Chris is going to flip against Lee and I do think Chris might actually take out Lee just sort of based on how the edit is going because we do see all the time Chris having really great soci bonds you know with Lani you know with Matthew tanuk you know even

30:46 People on the other tribe he was cross communicating with Lawrence right I do think that Chris has the social capital to take out someone like El Lee whereas some like El Lee not essentially have the same Social Capital that's sure I think Lee does it in a little bit of a different way that we didn't see much these two episodes but you know as that real leader but you can tell if he's not the leader he may not have that Social Capital to fall back on so if he's not in a position that he's put himself in and it's all working to his Advantage he may not be able to sort of pick up any broken pieces whereas yeah Chris is being everyone's best friend chatting to everyone lovely to their faces you know suspicious behind their backs asking all the white right questions making some big moves I mean I still maintain that we'll see Chris as a finalist I picture him in the top three yeah it's quite funny because I want the top three to have Lee and T in it because I think that they will have the most interesting stories and strategies on getting there but I don't think it's going to happen unfortunately because I do think Lee is

32:06 In a way bit of trouble sort of mid post merge I do think tanuk is in a lot of trouble early merge because I do kind of see thinking Nathan and T potentially the power Nathan and T she's got a lot of strength behind it that people might find threatening whereas Lee's being able to downplay his strength quite a bit yeah but something I want to add on to about Lee's argument I think one thing Lee has done extremely well is he unites his tribe you he unites team unites his Alliance and everything and I think how I saw his argument coming from was we you know we do everything as a four you know we are a four person Alliance not an individual Alliance right we throw a challenge throw it as an alliance if we win the challenge we win it as an alliance rather than you know doing cartwheels on our own right so I do see that argument from Lee but if you know this tribe had gone to tribal what do you think would have happened do you think oh my gosh yeah it would have been blue versus orange Leilani in the orange group as well

33:26 I think it would have been yeah I think would have been one of those guys on the chopping block oh I don't know I haven't thought about it do you think Chris would have flipped to take out Lee no not this early I don't think not this I mean he loves he loves a bold move but I don't think I think he's still quite tribal at this point yeah which is why the ren vote surprised me so much it there's still such strong tribal lines I do think it would have been one of the original Orange going home yeah I think the Lee vote will come in a time that makes a bit more sense for Chris yeah absolutely I do think and this Chris ver Le debate I think Chris will definitely take it out but I see a potential shy situation with Chris because I do think you're right he playing too close to the Sun so I think once he makes a big bold move ev's going to turn yes he's putting Targets on his back and he's I don't know if he's conscious of that because he was being so silly during the challenge for everyone to see I mean gosh how

34:46 Can you not be one of the orange people and look at that and not see what was going on you know it's I'd see that and feel very frightened and going oh God so I think he may have the potential to make big moves and make them a bit too messily if that makes sense I think so yeah I think that could be his downfall I still think that he is a contender that he could be right up there if he manages to cover his tracks a little bit and be a bit sneakier yeah what did you think of the letters from home segment that we oh look lovely you know we always have to do it you know it's lovely I took that opportunity to check my email and things like that you know just because I mean these segments there's never anything interesting you know what could be interesting about them it's like oh your kids miss you or your wife misses you or your husband miss your mom oh okay I don't know his

36:06 Mom so you know I don't think anything terribly groundbreaking ever comes out of these sessions I think it's more interesting when there's you know an auction to bid on them or then it makes it a bit more interesting but you know I it was a very long segment I was just like I'm going to switch off my mind until we're done here you know I don't need to know I don't need to see these people vulnerable yeah unless they're being blindsided yeah normally I do find L from home a bit of a snooze Fest but there was one that really got to me and you know I hate to get be in this drum but Lee you know I'm loving yeah I'm loving everything about Lee and just his whole em back story about his mom passing away you know his brother pass away or something like that and yeah and I feel like because I keep saying online Le gets so much black it gets so much hate from we from week two how we you wanted to Target you know the blonds and yeah and whatnot I do think if you watch more of this game it's just so much more than that and I feel like even though he's not playing probably the greatest game you know in the perfect scenario he would know have

37:26 Had that argument with Chris but I do think he is playing really well and I think he's doing extremely well and in my opinion he's one of the most interesting Castaways in the season I agree I agree he's pulling some fantastic moves yes it's not perfect but it's pretty close and yeah he just I don't think anyone has a vendetta out against women I don't I don't get the vibe that we're doing a men's versus women's or maybe after the whole last episode that maybe Leilani looks like she might be trying to get something going but I don't get the vibe that there's a real women's versus men's thing I think they're all very emotional to who they started with and I think that's where we'll see The Alliance is sort of heading more into who's been with me the longest but yeah I quite likely I think he's gorgeous lovely too yeah there's not much else really to talk about I mean there'll be a lot to talk about next week with the merch yes it seems like it be very exciting but you know let's quickly take the time to talk about Survivor UK in general you know Prem merge you know every Survivor season goes pre merge and post merge what have you thought of the entire pre

38:47 Merge I mean I like that we were right about the edit that we are seeing the strategy they're not playing Survivor for dummies it's great to see that those thoughts are there I quite enjoy the season I quite like The Castaways we have you know I've been genuine I was really sad to see Ren go we've seen some compelling people leave which is always a good indication if you care about the people leaving and Shai the Beast leaving you know I'm sad about that and I think Joel's doing a great job as host you know he's making it at his own he's not trying to be propes or anyone else yeah I think he has some really funny little moments and you know he's quite self-facing and I like the way it's edited I like it's got that sort of Australian Survivor kind of tinge on it with the slowmo and everything I quite like that side of it and the rock music which I think we had I can't remember that there was oh there was a Toxic by Britney Spears was used yeah way so you know I think it's great it's you know I have to admit and I think I've said it before I've only watched us and Australian survivors

42:47 Agree we had a taste of that the first couple of episodes I don't think Idols were even mentioned until episode three or something so yeah you know I quite liked going back to simpler times especially because we did then pick up into something else yeah exactly and I think if anything this season is telling us a beautiful story of all the different characters I think especially going to the post merge I genuinely feel like I know everyone yeah and we haven't had many sub stories whereas you only know if run an American Survivor because of their sub stories and Str Survivor even though I love it you only really know five people across yeah the whole season but yeah I'm loving with this is going and I'm really excited to see Shai come back from the edge of Extinction he's going to B it out is G strategically Mastermind everyone and he just somehow wins all the prize money oh well it's I mean surely he got he's got to find a way I mean I'm someone who loves edge of Extinction I'm going to say that publicly I love Ed of Extinction as a Twist I think there are tweaks to it that I canly improve it I do think overall I love the itch of Extinction and what it can bring
