4:01 Or 35 has been filmed they're casting for 36. there's some movement we have some rumor in the Endo out there that there's going to be two more seasons so if it means that they need to do the mega elect so that they can have an extra episode of marketing to pay the balls then I'll give them this pass Michelle sure definitely yes so it's exciting we know there's more seasons coming so if you're in the USA apply for it because if I was I would apply for it and Michelle has applied a few times in Australia New Zealand just doesn't have its own Amazing Race So if you're in a country where you can apply for it apply for it get on it I think we've seen people from all walks of life go out there and do extremely well and become fan favorites and win the show so go out there and apply for the show I don't know why they don't put that like Survivor in the middle of the episodes to say you should apply if you think you can be a part of this adventure now like Jeff Probst does because I think it's good to put it in the episode then more people may spot it because they get tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands I don't know how many entries they get they don't want any more let's just let us deal with the pool we already have lovable Nikki says No way exclamation mark I'd be out first I doubted lovable Nikki I doubted you do better than what you expect you know you're probably out there just make sure you get a really good partner with you going out there that's got a very solid hit on their shoulders preferably

5:22 Not your partner not you know the person you're married to who you're dating because in that case you might be in a fight unless you're clearing Derek they seem to be and actually quite a few of the couples of the season have been handling the pressure really well I feel like hmm I think so too it's not like previous Seasons where you see all these couples fighting yeah I think I think they're doing really good job so even someone on the page on the groups said you know there's no one to really hate and I'm like well is that a bad thing you don't really need to hate anybody I think we're so you know indoctrinated that you've got to love somebody but I hate somebody and then you have the people in the middle I don't think it has to be like that all the time yeah Christian you're saying Chris you should also cover tough as nails too for next year full Cogan is the host of that show as well do you watch I've never watched tough as Nails I've heard people tell me it's a really good show do you watch that Michelle I've watched I've watched one season I you know what I've got Christmas coming up I've got big school holidays I'm going to watch another I think he's got another two seasons out he's got three so I'm gonna watch the next two yeah I plan you know to obviously try and catch up on as much as I've missed which isn't too much I tend to watch quite a bit and fit it all in I'm gonna be honest I'm covering a lot right

6:42 Now with doing a full-time job I'm covering the challenge Australia I'm covering Survivor very soon Australian Survivor doing The Amazing Race I wanted to do The Amazing Race Australia because sadly couldn't fit that into my schedule because it's been pretty tight it's hard for me to pick up extra shows at this stage but I am very open to continuing to add more content to the show as we continue currently I'm sort of eyeing and considering traitors USA when they're drops I think that's one that I'm considering so anybody listening to this if you think you're going to be watching the Traders USA and that you may be interested in that maybe that's what I will do they haven't announced the premiere yet but I believe well I think UK's in like a week but they're dropping three apps well they're showing three apps one after the other in the UK and then they're gonna drop all three online at the same time so I'm going to watch that I'll have to catch up on the mold too I haven't watched them all USB like the mall is good but I think that some people who watch the old one really love that and yeah kind of looked at it through that links where I kind of gave it a pass it's its own thing it's Netflix I enjoyed it for what it was worth but the problem with three episodes a week is that's just insane to cover it's hard I know what's the UK doing They're copying us don't copy us we're crazy it's too much

8:03 Well we've got Survivor we'll start in February and you know that's four nights a week isn't it or is it three I don't know that's three nights three nights a week I lose my life very tough for people that cover the show in any capacity if you're doing you know kind of Recaps on it if you're doing exit press on it if you run a fan page on it kind of consumes your life for the time that's out but Christian I will consider it I'll definitely consider it let's get into the actual episode mine here oh my God yes we're only eight minutes in malaga's finally gone off the road 30 museums I don't know how many Sydney have but I doubt we have 30 museums it's just that's just crazy yeah but also the Spanish Empires and all you know this goes back years and years and years if you look at Australia and New Zealand we're pretty young in comparison to those places over there in Europe and that's why they've got that rich history to have those museums so it kind of makes sense but I did call it Michelle that I've been corrected by someone now I do know Lewis or Louis I might double think myself on this now has said that he does like it when someone pronounces his name as Louis which is what I always do but apparently he pronounced it pronounces it as Lewis with an S on it and one of the fans said to me last week it's Lewis and you have to pronounce it

9:24 That way so now I'm going to double think it every time it's pronunciation it's spelled the same as that but it's Louise with a zed but it's l-u-i-s and he's from South America but so just to get into it people always people always get pedantic on names right so one of my friends his name is spelled j-u-a-n which is John to us over here in Australia and also over in South Africa but yeah if you go to Argentina or somewhere over there it's Juan apologies you know that we got on about your name the point here is that I was right about them actually speaking Spanish or him speaking Spanish because he's got a Spanish family so I feel like it gave him a little bit of a leg up and he kind of felt throughout this episode that he was on home ground yeah I know he spoke really well so it was it was really interesting that he someone speaks Spanish well because normally they've just got this High School Spanish and they speak it you know really haltingly and then he was just really fluent so it sounded it sounded great yeah and they started off in that first group they had a 15-minute Head Start we do now know that there was only two groups running this time so luckily the last team

10:44 Wasn't 30 minutes behind but they started off with Derek and Claire they get to the first roadblock without anything why were they on the top of a mountain why do they have to run down a mountain so that we could look at the view probably and it was a beautiful view right get them working straight away at least they didn't have to run up a mountain and this is just running down but I thought that was a strange start but I mean we did get to see a really good view well and also obviously Emily having her issue with her knee having to run down or get down the mountain I felt bad for her she's clearly in pain she's an absolute Trooper marching on trying to be an example for her daughter to show what perseverance looks like and to inspire her daughter to go after what she wants in the future I think it's really cool to see her push on and do what she's doing and Molly supporting her through it being very understanding it was just great all-around to see her push through that pain barrier as she went down that mountain yeah it was it was I could feel her pain too I'm just wondering how much have you been given as a painkiller yeah how much ibuprofen have you had overnight yeah mixed with paracetamol yeah can you mix it too I don't know if you can actually yeah you think you can I'm really bad I'm it's one of those nights we're going to go off topic a lot I feel like it but I don't know painkillers like

12:04 Sections in my nose wait a minute weighing down did he actually say the words gorgeous mate I thought I don't know I didn't hear that I didn't hear that I never wrote that down I think did he just say gorgeous mate like in an Aussie accent but I don't know I'd have to go back anyway so this week I only saw the episode one so I don't know I didn't catch that as they were running down there but they go down this mountain they go to the first roadblock the first teams to get there are also in that order so obviously Michelle and Claire they're gonna be doing the roadblock this time they're doing the first portion of this and the roadblock is called who will be your master of pieces and this roadblock they had I think it was six or five slides of this perplex art piece puzzle that they had to put together and they had to do like an abstract Pace a piece that they had to put in there and I tell you what this is like my worst nightmare I was not good at art at school I don't like this kind of stuff you need to be good at layering as soon as I looked at it I thought Brown first and then you know you're doing this layering I was looking at the blue at the front or the blue or white at the front and then I'm thinking okay just make sure the pieces are out the right way and then I was thinking it's a colossal

13:24 Perspex if it's glass it's really dangerous yeah it was perspex yeah and then I thought wow this is quite a bit for production to have to make they said it was Heavy it was really heavy to lift and put in which made me feel really bad for some of the helpers because some of them had to work overtime like Marcus's guy for example putting things in and out all the time like those guys had to be fit in itself to also do it and like Michelle said they didn't pick up that there was a an example of what they needed to do or follow and she ended up going for the furthest possible position even though they got their first she put herself at a disadvantage and had to keep running back and forth to get this thing sorted out so a bit of a rookie mistake for a team that is hung in there for as long as they have so by this season yeah but it was the only mistake they really made I mean outside of that pretty Flawless run but it just shows you no matter how long you've been on the race you can still miss the small detail oh yeah when there's only five teams left and I feel like a few teams this week unraveled under the pressure yeah I think you're panicking more When there's less teams you've gotten let's wiggle room you know to come in a certain order so yeah you do Panic more yeah I loved I loved the guy the judge it was a bit of Gladiator you know this all this you're dead I'm

14:45 Thinking okay I just you know getting Marcus Aurelius in my mind and doing the Gladiator movie but I wonder how long they were there you know some of them were there for quite a while yeah it'd be interesting to know I know Marcus comments quite a lot on the podcast and you know Marcus if you're still listening it'd be awesome to know you know how long do you believe you guys were over there and I know Marcus would have been pretty hard on himself after pretty much getting it right from the start the only mistake he made was that he had the back layer the wrong way around and because there's so many layers it's very difficult to see when all of them are in there until the point where he had to put it out I did find it quite interesting though Michelle that Claire was the only one that used the strategy of building it on the ground before she put it in yes I know and a lot of people do that with well not a lot but we've seen it a lot in races and Survivor where they do things on the ground and then they put them in especially the slums where they slot things in Survivor we've seen that on the ground before yeah so that then I just keeps taking things in and out it's just easier to do it that way but it's harder when they're all up but yes definitely that's that experience of Claire having been on another game show before being on Big Brother coming in handy with the puzzle and doing it that way but either under a good authority that

16:05 Some other reality TV shows like survivors of Africa you're not allowed to do it on the ground the rules of production as you have because they wanted to be difficult they want the puzzle to be built in the way that it's supposed to be built and I don't know if that is the same for Survivor over in the US because I haven't seen anybody in the US build one of those puzzles on the ground in many seasons yeah and it was interesting that Claire was allowed to do that and that there wasn't a rule around that and I was surprised that more people didn't do that because we haven't had we haven't had oh God if we had any puzzles that are vertical I mean in Amazing Race that they would have had to change the rules for you're testing my memory at the moment I don't know I don't know if you have had a vertical puzzle has anyone ever done it on the ground if they haven't then they've never had to you know come up against that before production yep we've got our Nunes here in the life we're always coming from all of our podcasts after the life it's good to have you on the live for a change underneath really you know good to see you here welcome to the live yeah so yeah so we've got them there at the roadblock in the order that they sort of leave there I guess you know Claire she gets it figured out really quickly she's out of there first and then also another person who absolutely killed it and came from that second group was Aubry hats off to Aubry because you know as they're going

17:25 To this roadblock she's saying listen I've been with yeah I'm trying to sort of like tame the Beast Within right now but I'm ready to run this thing I want to win it and now it's going to be gloves off from here on out and she's bringing a bit of a Killer Instinct and I feel like she's got that high competitive Spirit about her which is one of the reasons where Dave is a little bit more David's a little bit more relaxed you know he wants to go with the flow in some cases I feel like Aubry is like no we need to do this we need to go she's a little bit more High Strung yes yeah definitely and you need someone like that on the race you need one of you to be like that at least you need the balance I feel like you do need to otherwise imagine two people being at that level it'd be pretty insane I mean we've had teams like that in the past it's normally pretty explosive yeah well no yeah it depends what their relationship is but yes I agree I agree whereas you know my daughter and I on our race we're both up there so we're both there and we're both training but we don't argue or anything but we're both there and so it's pretty funny to watch but yeah they obviously cast people who are going to explode you know yeah 100 what they you know I think Caster Dom as well this season obviously this is long gone but she was a high strung personality as well and didn't know when to turn it on and off like Aubry does here in this episode but she does really well she ends up getting into that

18:45 Second place doing a really good job and then followed after that as Michelle in third place followed by the twins who get out of there in fourth place and then the big worry like we already spoke about it was Marcus really struggling and for once Michael could say that he would have done it better I feel like Marcus has normally said it the other way around but you know Michael said Marcus called it he said he could do the puzzle he was going to be good at it and now he's feeling like he should have done it I actually thought the reason they went that way is because Michael is shown to be an overthinker like myself I'm an overthinker and that's why I think I wouldn't have done good at this thing because I may have made it more difficult for myself than what it is yeah you could but some kind of puzzle you can say you're good at puzzles but something like that it's all about perception and you might be good at putting pieces together but that sort of is God it's like one of those 3D puzzles which I don't even go near so yeah you've just got to have a different sort of brain for that kind of puzzle I agree I agree 100 I don't know if it would have been my thing like I said we're already determined that if Michelle and I was on this race Michelle would have been doing this roadblock out of the two of us I would have I would not have put my hand up and you sounded a lot more confident about your ability to do this pretty

20:05 Well yes I've had I've had some success at puzzles yes in competition wise things yeah I listen puzzles is not a problem it's just I think this specific type of puzzle it was a lot more difficult than we probably appreciate sitting on the sidelines looking at it because there's so many layers involved it's an abstract painting which can be difficult and they're huge piece is to have to suddenly pick out and that glass on it looked like there was it didn't have glass but it was so shiny on the front it wasn't doing them any favors if they were in the wrong sort of area you saw the judge moving around because the shine was really hard it was really hard to see what was going on with the other layers and I was going to say it was also the weather it was really hard I noticed that it was in the middle of a square there was no trees or anything like that so that the sun beating down on them while they were out Emily actually looked like they were a bit sunburnt or they've got a good build of a tan because their marks on their back they can have vicious tan marks they could still have them they were just really you could really see where the skin was a lot darker and I'm like oh God are you burnt you look a bit red this is when they were on the bikes but that I noticed that yeah well from

21:25 Here onwards here we go let's have a look here Nunes says being Picasso added another layer of complexity to the puzzle obviously and also the joke that Derek pulled on I think who was the person who was there that he said I think it was David and he said ah you know where's the ear it's not chopped off and he's like ah I just want to go I'm trying to catch you there good little good little joke it's probably the only two artists that I really know is Picasso and to be honest outside of that I don't remember much from art class personally I was good at the Performing Arts I just wasn't good at like drawing you know that's different it's all the different right I was happy to see the bikes that's what I was going to go into next yeah so they have to take the bikes to go to El Cubo for their root info and a really funny scene with Derek and Claire and maybe Claire getting annoyed at Derek a little bit for the first time on the race as well but Derek struggling with some real severe PTSD because he's had accidents on so many different things already oh the accident is where they in the series or were they just in his life because he named quite a bit of my quite a few modes of Transport I'm like I don't recall all that unless it wasn't you know not because in his life I think it's in his life I think he's had some accidents in life and

22:46 It's traumatized them a little bit and being on a bike obviously it's not very well protected you're not like in a vehicle where if something hits into you there's a bigger chance you're gonna be okay I think he was a bit stressed out about that but I really like those two together I like the Dynamics that they brought because even after clay got a little bit annoyed with him immediately after shoot where she was like oh sorry I shouldn't have you know I understand you're not as confident I'll take the lead type of thing and they worked through it really quickly after that I thought yeah they were good I'm really surprised actually that Molly and Emily went past El Cubo they're just it's not their leg you know because they're quite cluey and El Cubo it just sounds like a cube and they just went past it is that it and didn't even like at least do one you know right around the cube just to check because it's called el cubo it looks pretty big really bizarre for them it looked like a big Cube as well and it was kind of standing on its own to the side where it's hard to know how you would have missed it but I mean obviously they were going through something they didn't miss it they didn't miss it this is the point of them saw it and said oh is that El cubo and then whoever was riding in front didn't look at it and so they just went past right now it's unfortunate to see the twins make this mistake

24:06 Because up until this point they have been one of the favorite teams to win this whole season they've been like you said glued you know glued onto it they've actually figured a lot of these things out faster than anyone else and now to see both them and Marcus and Michael being at the bottom by the end of this league what is going on like this is the upside down world right now if you're familiar with stranger things you know it is really strange things happening in front of us because they have been so consistent and I wonder if the whole thing with the knee the losing a little bit of faith if they could run this whole thing and finish the Amazing Race if that's playing on their mind or is it just the pressure of being in a final five situation where these other teams have had times where they've been more closer to the bottom so they can't know what it feels like potentially to have the risk of going home and these teams maybe haven't felt it as much maybe that's playing into it but just to both of the teams on the bottom when we used to seeing them on the top it's just unusual for there to be that sort of switch around with more than one team so I was finding it quite distressing I was like well the only team the only team that has not won one yet is Aubry and David all of the other teams have had a first place no team has had more than two first places and we've had Louie and Michelle with two we've had Derek and clear with two and we've had Marcus and Michael with two and then obviously Emily and Molly F also had one

25:26 First place and that was the previous Mega leak that they did really well in so there's a lot of teams that are extremely competitive this time and I think that we're just seeing that at the moment did want to mention also we saw Michael come out of the shell a little bit in this section where they had to go ride the bike and we got to learn a bit more about him because I always feel like Marcus overshadows Michael quite a lot in the edit but Michael talking about the fact you know that he loved mountain bikes growing up Felton is element you know he got in a really bad accident as a kid doctor thought he wasn't going to make it and that's why he's a fighter pilot because he's a fighter you know so I didn't know he was a fighter pilot that's pretty cool man like he's like the real Top Gun yeah he's like the real Tom Cruise yeah that's an awesome job to have so I didn't realize he was actually a pilot I don't know how that sort of went over my head so it went over both of us somehow I don't know how that happened anyway yeah I know this is saying didn't one of the twins say El Cubo should be on the left when they saw it at their right yeah so maybe someone gave them wrong directions maybe and said it front said that and that's why she didn't look to the right I think because she's looking at the left but when they turned their bikes around El Cubo was on the left so maybe they were approaching it from

26:47 The maybe they took a wrong turn at one point and they were approaching it from the wrong way that's all I can think of yeah now they go to The Detour after this and they find out that these two choices one is going to be fishy fry and the other one's going to be soil boat supply fishy fry being that they had to create 18 grilled skewers to Perfection and then give it to a judge to judge and want it and sailboat Supply being that they had to deliver this large cooler with ice and eight live vests on it out to a boat while pedaling a paddle board and Michelle you know which one I would have gravitated towards right you know I love going on a cheeky pedal board over the weekends every now and again when it's summer yeah just take it out yes and then I thought did I have to blow up one each this is going to take forever the fish is quicker than this yeah I mean it did look definitely it's funny it's also quite ironic how Lewis said as they were going into the ocean he's like it doesn't look choppy out there today at all and then as soon as they get out there the waves nearly made them lose all the ice and that would have been devastating if they had to go back and do all of

28:07 That again so it's a high risk High reward situation but I would have felt pretty confident that we could do it yes not if you were him though because where did he grow up for one thing was he near any kind of ocean or does he paddle board in rivers no well Miami it's okay what the hell was he doing with the board this side wave was sideways to the waves coming in I don't even ride a paddle board or a surfboard but you know you need it to be going this way over away yeah there was no new king happening there the waves coming yes of course everything's gonna fall off you have to hold the bloody ice bucket like seriously yeah what we live we live both Coastal like yeah listen I grew up I grew up in Cape Town South Africa surf Central I'm used to waves South Africa you know especially around Cape Town you get very big waves way bigger than anything you saw there yeah Auckland and New Zealand's pretty tame like if you go to the east coast it's almost like being on a swimming pool there is no waves really it's almost just like one big swimming pool but where I live which is closer to the West Coast there are some choppy waves out there as well and

32:07 Your back we've got your back don't worry about it's all right it's still doing really well really well yeah very good leg overall and what was really cool while we're on the subject of the specific detour is that you know Lewis could interact with the people on the beach there could speak a bit of Spanish they were sort of you know cheering him on getting him in the mood and I think that for someone like Lewis who's such a big you know personality and feeds off that energy I think they would have just sort of pushed them on to get through it and that's such a fun thing though because yes you're trying to save the bucket thanks Louis yeah I did see you were initially going straight I did see that I did see it but that's true about when you have the crowd behind you because when I've been in races and all of a sudden people are like screaming beside you run yeah it makes you want to run more and then you start screaming at them and it just brings a lot of fun into doing things even if you're like half dying I'm just gonna say this Michelle you know I think it was either Mike Tyson or Muhammad Ali that said this once everybody has got a plan until they get punched in the mouth and then the plan goes out of the window so when you're out there and these things are happening I'm sure in the middle of it the last thing you're focusing about is technique
