The Challenge All Stars 4: Episode 10

0:13 [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] welcome back to the nullified take Channel wer Huna and I have got the TNT takes you here for the challenge All Stars 4 episode 10 that is right we're getting to the end at a rapid P Kahuna how's things going on your end have you been enjoying the season one episode left I believe or one week of action left before we get to the finale is it two episodes in one week how's it going to work I'm not sure but I mean I'm doing I'm doing good I'm enjoying my long weekend it's a Monday here so I'm hope everyone that's from the states is having a good Sunday evening with we're mixing it up on times last week we were like a few days early

1:33 This week we're a few days late we're keeping them on their toes and keeping them excited just like the challenge we don't know how many episodes exactly or at least I don't specifically but I think I think it's going to be yeah one more and then the finals which will be a two-parter maybe I don't know but yeah we've still got a few people left which is someone I feel like someone in the live told us a couple of weeks ago it's going to be a double header in the last week so it's going to be interesting to see how the season's going to play out there's lots and lots to talk about like you said we're keeping people on their toes here because kind of like TJ you know will there be an episode live on the Saturday or Friday evening will it be on the Sunday evening you know we keeping everybody guessing but thank you to live audience that have jumped on I know we've been switching things around being a long weekend on this side I went away for the weekend had a blast down in Apollo Bay such a beautiful location sort of Southwest from Melbourne about a 3-hour drive so great road trip down there for the weekend and luckily we could make it work here on the Monday because we've got the public holiday in Australia Sunday evening over in the state and I watched the episode this morning so I've stayed off social media didn't know anything at all of what was happening and I know that there's a few people in our live audience who is going to be very upset by this result like Chris here

4:14 Here yeah very different countries operate differently Danica is asking what is the holiday it is the King's Birthday holiday weekend here in Australia so AUST part of the common yeah so they just they choose a day it's not his official birthday they choose a day and they're like every year this is going to be the public holiday pretty much GE J saying Adam showed his true colors today and I was very interested in the whole Adam of it all because we spoke about this a little bit Kahuna people still Coming For You in the in the comment section from last week about your takes on Cara Maria saying you have very bad takes when it comes to some of the female competitors is what I'm hearing and listen this is one of the things right allowed to have your take I think it makes some of the conversations interesting especially if you and I don't if you and I don't agree on everything sometimes that can make for a fun back and forth right but Adam was one of those people that really went hard after Kara Maria you know again he was one of the vocal people coming out on a podcast saying that you know she had this you know I don't know what his logic was the fact that she was very proud of herself and strong and independent as a female and y you know and I just said he came across this very bitter I feel like at the end of this episode we saw that bitter ad him again because you know Steve had the audacity

5:34 To shoot back at him basically by the end of this episode yeah man like look if this is indicative of what has been going on then I'll take it all back because I was like the escalation is too fast there's we're missing something like I don't know what's happened here but we're missing something if this is what Adam is doing like for Steve then I can totally see it now that there's clearly no nothing causing the escal he just went there he just went straight to the like 11 for no reason so it was weird man like again I just felt like what like it's such a dis disproportionate reaction to What Steve did to then react that way I was like I don't understand like he voted him in like what is happening that you would get that angry over what is clearly a very game oriented move and not person in the slightest but he made it super personal yeah you know what makes it interesting between Adam and Steve I kind of you know I don't remember the original season that they were on together with Road Rules I think back in 2001 or something like that they won that together but in the gauntlet like I'm pretty sure Adam had like some sort of a role to play in Steve being eliminated That season as well

6:54 Like so it's you know at some point someone's going to hit back like it's not going to just be a one way kind of thing here where he's like oh we've been staying in contact we've been texting back and forth we've been friends for so long but Adam was being a snake throughout this whole episode saying hey I'd rather throw Steve in there to protect my own style playing very selfishly and not to expect for someone to hit back afterwards in a game that is for $250,000 like you were never a true friend to Steve to begin with in my opinion if this is how you're going to react to Steve doing the right thing by taking a shot back at him at the end of this and Tak that star giving it to Ace and we haven't even started talking about Ace one of the weirdest cats I've ever seen play this game like just the way he approaches just it makes my head hurt sometimes man when Adam dropped that confessional I swear like I thought it was sarcastic at first I thought like the way he was talking I was like oh that's funny like you know ha I hate him now because we're actually friends and it was just a game thing so clearly it can't be like true Venom there but then it I was like oh my God like he really like is laying into him for like no reason again maybe and the haters will come for me again but maybe confessionals are done after the fact if not a week

8:14 A day like however long after maybe something did happen again and we'll see that between Steve and Adam but the confessionals are after the fact I'm not protecting him at all that was that was crazy that was like you should buy some you should buy some Adam some Adam by the end of the season you know Adam's one stand here on the nullify take Channel no I'm out of I am not of stand at all look and I'm again I want to be I'm going on a PR tour I'm gonna have to like do like clean up your say I'm not against Kara Maria at all I'm not victim blaming at all I just wonder if we're seeing the whole picture and it's not like what did you do to cause it I'm just thinking the edit feels funny to me and that was all I'm saying I don't like the way car Marie is being treated I don't like the way they're screaming in the face like I said last week it just feels so like yeah disproportionately mental to scream it like I can't get my head my logical brain doesn't understand how someone can explode that much with little provocation and maybe that just says how gentle giant I am that I don't that yeah I'm curious what like what the hell happened to these people that made them this way you know that's all I'm saying yeah they cast a certain type of individual to play on reality

9:34 TV and I think that is all the justification you need and I think Adam fits that stereotype perfectly like he is like the perfect casting even though he's annoying as hell for reacting the way he did to Steve here he fits that ball but let's have a look at more comments that came in here Chris says I deserve a two-month Break L Mao hush well basically obviously working with children can probably be really tying I would imagine so you probably do need the break after that even though sometimes I feel like I work with children in my work as well you know like you deal with different stages here in life but Dan says but teachers don't get paid over summer so that sucks that's true the pros and cons let's see what other people are saying here Adam was happy for Steve to maybe leave the game at least he has a chance to get his star back his anger was disturbing totally agree Erica say just like likes to see the best in people you're looking for the Bas people that's the thing thank you D saying all good proud of my ATS upbringing we have a tough skin so there's a couple of things said YouTube cat says Laurel and Adam long lost siblings I can see that a little bit because Laurel also goes zero to 100 real quick and like goes in you know yeah again you know that's the casting you want for reality TV and for

10:54 The challenge I feel like you want people who are not fence sitters which is the big reason let's talk a little bit about Ace to me I'm sorry man I know there's a lot of people who love Ace is a great human being outside of the game I don't need him on my screen he annoys me the way he plays this game like what are you doing like I can't vote for this guy but these guys are my friends now I'm going to say one name I won't say another name which is the rule of the game like what's going on here with Ace apparently there was like this whole thing about him and Ryan connecting I think it was in one of the previous Allstar Seasons when they were in lockdown during lockdown prior to Allstar starting and he didn't know who was above him in the hotel room but he could hear the person's voice every now and again and then Ryan would pass him food from the top to the bottom where he was starving or something like that and that created this bond between the two of them it was quite deep apparently and this is the reason because it goes beyond the game that he like he's just got a this moral compass but even that he didn't explain it he didn't explain it when they were sitting in the room and he's got the likes of Steve and Leroy there with karia people that he worked with maybe not lero so much but he's definitely worked with Steve he couldn't even articulate it in that moment why he couldn't vote for Ryan like he tried to say something but it didn't make any sense it shouldn't matter though right yeah like if you if you're going into a

12:14 Game and you say to Cara Maria you say to Steve whatever you say listen I've got a thing with Ryan that's my I'm not like he should be able to stand up to them as well as his Partners as the people that he's working with and he can say you have your number one ones or whatever like I know K Maria doesn't at the moment but that's how it goes on the challenge I've got my number one you've got my your number one I'm not going to aim for them or whatever and we saw last season Jay got really upset when you know anyone had a number one above him or whatever right he doesn't respect that but like that's usually part and parcel of the game if Ace comes in and says look me and Ryan are close for whatever reason like he should have maybe articulated better for sure but if he goes I'm not voting for Ryan because we got an agreement and car's like where'd that come from I didn't know about that he goes well we made a deal like whether it was formed in real life through deep bonds of you know trauma in Co or he came into the game and made a decision to go we're working together he's our here's our thing like it shouldn't matter if he says that's what I'm working with that's what I'm working with you know and I think you should be able to do that without getting lambasted for it but yeah you're right he's a bit weird in the way he says things like he's yeah he

13:34 He doesn't have that skill he doesn't have the skill to deliver it or articulate it well but a few people here have got some comments on it so YouTu saying Ryan doesn't even remember Ace promising him anything which is disturbing because he's just lost he's lost all of this social capital and again I think it's because Ace made this promise in his head and never articul you know he lost a lot of social capital in this episode for no reason because Ryan wouldn't even have held this against them if he did go into the elimination but some more comments coming in here George is saying Ace lost his best friend shortly before filming and he was in a very bad place and Ryan was there for him and that was prior to the previous season I believe when they were in those rooms in lockdown Erica also says an interview Ace explained his cousin who was his best friend died days before the previous allar Ryan helped him that was the story from the hotel room and the food so he was struggling during that time obviously and like I said maybe this was something where he was like Ryan was here for me he didn't know sometimes in life isn't it strange Kahuna how you could have such an impact on someone else's life just by being kind and you don't even know

14:54 What it means to the person on the other side like how deep it goes for them like why Ryan in his mind he was like that was nothing I was just being me I was just being a normal decent human being and Ryan does seem like a really nice guy everybody's been talking about how good of a person he is this season and he didn't even think twice about it but Ace received it in such a more deeper level and I think it's a remind of us as just people out there I know this is where we go deep sometimes we do go deep on the NFI te Channel just to be kind to people around you because you don't know what's going on in their life and how you can make a change just by smiling at them or doing something nice like that you know yeah you never truly understand the impact you can have on people in both ways as well like you might say something that's just flippant as a joke or whatever and call people out for you know not for victim blaming on the internet and putting in comments you know maybe you don't know how deep that cuts people like no you're right it on the audience turning on swinging yeah like in the negative as well you might say something that sits like everyone's got that one thing like someone said something to me once and it sits with you for like decades and on the opposite end you do something nice that you think is just nothing and then it really ingratiates yourself to them as well so it like you know people are people and we can

16:14 Have impacts in both ways so it was good to see that Ace even though Ryan didn't feel that way necessarily he was just being normal in his mind when Ace felt it deeply he honored that you know what I mean and he kept it so he remembered yeah what did you think of this daily challenge with the lasso I forgot what they called it was it knowing the ropes or something like that was the challenge name I can't remember what they what they called it but we've got TJ coming in a dirt bike looking in his element you know really fun to see him rolling and everybody cheering him on and then they've got a very old school like daily like again all star have gone out of their way to give us these Carnival trick type of scenarios where it's almost more about dexterity and having an ability to pick up carnival games more so than actually what the main shows become which is all about athletic ability these days a lot more athletic ability a lot more complex math and things like that where the main show feels like it's trying to compete more with like you know it's trying to be like a sports event like they say it's the fourth sport of America or something like that where All Star 4 has gone in a completely different direction and now is putting itself there's a differentiator this season

17:34 Compared to the normal seasons and I'm interested to know when we get this next Allstar season playing we went through the cast very briefly in the previous live that we did will they stick True to this format will it continue to be more about the carnival type of games the old school throwback type of daily challenges that we see or now that they've got so many of the main show cast making its way over to All Stars will they go to more of a competitive sports athletic type of season because it will be funny to see someone as big or tall as fessy do something like this like I'd like to see how he does it or can you imagine Josh can you imagine Josh doing this like as uncoordinated as he is like that would actually be I think comedy goal but yeah what did you think of it as a whole what do you think of the direction that all stars continue to go in and do you think it's possible they'll stick to this with all star five look I think at first I was a little bit not a fan of it because I'm I prefer the more athletic kind of thing but I think now that we're 10 episodes in and we're used to it like I'm enjoying it like in contrast to the normal when it's right next to it like when we came from 39 into all stars I'm like ah I like the bigger more athletic competitions but now we've had a few weeks of this

18:55 Alone I'm like okay like I'm into it now it took me a while but I'm of digging it this one was fun I do like that Ace was dominating like Ace was actually doing really well and then Jay use his brain instead of his muscles and actually figured out hey there's no rule that says you can't do this like it's the airbud rule and yeah and took it out so as far as the actual daily itself like I know not really me because I was always way too big but every kid gets in a trolley and likes to get pushed around and tries to figure out how they can do it and you know that sort of thing and the fact that it's like all stars is the older version of The Challenge the older competitors reliving what is essentially like a childhood activity getting into a trolley and just trying to push around like if you're at a hospital and you see a wheelchair you'll jump in the wheelchair and push yourself around if there's a trolley you're going to push it into something or what it's like it's almost instinctive for at least dumb males to see something with wheels and want to like get in it and go fast or whatever but in that regard it was kind of fun and Jay just figuring out hey I'll just push myself like why not and no one like Ace was so far ahead of him with the Rope

20:15 Technique sees Jay coming with the pushing technique and doesn't immediately abandon and take up the new meta that is clearly the much better option like that one that I was upset with as soon as people saw J going everyone should have just done the exact same thing like that's what you need to be able to adapt I think there's a risk I do think there is a risk in doing it like it was obviously the meta strategy and it was the one that worked really well for Jay but I like having been one of those kids that have been in one of those trolleys before I definitely have had some of my own fun as a kid growing up the wheels in the front are quite hard to control and they pivot sideways right so when you push yourself off there's actually a level of control that you need probably need to use I'm assuming your core to keep it straight and you actually saw Avery trying to use the push technique and go in the opposite direction so there was a risk to it as well where if you got it wrong you could actually struggle out there so I feel like yes not only did Jay use his smarts about him to actually be able to move through it but he also had the technique right which maybe was a little bit more difficult than what some people appreciated but yeah lasso is such a dying skill like I don't think many people have got like the ability to just lasso their way from one end to the other I mean someone like car Maria who

25:36 Odd skills definitely I think anything and it's I agree I didn't actually respond to what you said ker but I agree as we went from season 39 and also Australian Survivor which was very serious and athletic competitive competition into all star 4 I had a sort of a I don't know my expectations were too high Min All Stars for and also getting like Laurel and K Maria back on our screens and Leroy who I thought would come in as a beast you know I had expectations to see more athletic competitions taking place and the first one was quite athletic right because the one that Cara Maria had to run up and down the hill that she won that was quite athletic but it kind of fell flat for me but now being so deep into the season I've climatized through the type of challenges that it is and it's I'm finding a lot of fun out of this it's interesting to see how they game the system and how they're sort of playing it as well so it's been it's been entertaining is saying TJ Riding on His Pony he looked like he had a lot of fun out there m gets it amazing performance from performance from Flor Veronica and Avery can't wait to see them in a final obviously all of them did not complete the daily and TJ sort of coming out as a spicy self you know saying to them we don't want to be out here all day and then Flora saying whatever while she's out there a

29:36 For the men we get Jay winning and then for the wom we get Laurel winning here Laurel coming in hot now in the last two dailies winning both of those and there was a lot of talk in the beginning of this episode did Laurel miss her opportunity to go in and get her star a lot of people feel like she made a mistake not going in that potentially in the next round they'll just say the rest of the people you go home we've got our people for the final and this is going to play heavily on Jay's mind throughout the episode and even when he wins here he immediately declares I'm throwing myself in I'm throwing myself in and I feel like as much as we like Jay Kahuna he kind of set himself up here for failure throughout this episode right because he was making such a big deal of it where if he played his cards closer to his chest and maybe in the back of his head he was considering going in but just not vocalizing it to production not vocalizing it to the rest of the castmates maybe he would have had an opportunity to actually go down in the sand see what the elimination is going to be and then decide if he wanted to go in which to me seems like that would have been strategically the better decision to make like I don't disagree that for the TV this was good and he obviously needed to build some credibility with the challenge production team based on his first performance but if you want to win the show I feel like he went about this the wrong way

30:56 What's your thoughts on maybe a controversial opinion because I feel like most people are praising Jay for how he played this episode look at this point I don't have a problem with it like he knows he has to go in I think when he saw what was actually standing in front of him at the end considering that like it just happened to be the literal worst possible elimination for him you can pull out I think you Laurel did it and Laurel cop Flack for it I guess but I mean you could after Laurel's performance maybe don't you know so adamantly say that you're going in when we literally just saw it the week before you know the mistake made it there but look he knows he has to get a start at some point I don't have a problem with calling a shot but I think you can if you're smart at least and not worried about reputation orever you can back out if you need to but he's seeing the writing on the wall like there's like you we counting like there's one episode left he's not going to get another opportunity and if there is going to be another women's one for Laurel maybe it's a double I don't know because I think the numbers are even at the moment but he knows he's not going to get another shot or he thinks he might not get another shot I don't think anyone knows

32:16 Truly what's going to happen here but he's Assuming he's not going to get another shot he's got to take it so you might as well call your shot at least and let people know so maybe you can get the vote the right way against who you want to go into if everyone knows you're going in I can see the Merit of it but I can definitely see the drawback of doing that setting yourself up for failure for sure like with you're giving yourself less options yeah I think you know you brought up Laurel there and Laurel's got a legacy when it comes to the challenge that even with her not going in and looking bad in that scenario and people could say she was scared or whatever or she's not a person off her word Laurel's Legacy is something that's not going to be tarnished by that one move you know what I mean like so she had the no so she had the years and years of showing up and Performing and showing what she's worth and building that Legacy so she had like Legacy Capital that she could use in that move that will not tarnish her Legacy in the future she'll still come back she'll still be someone that people will look at as one of the greats where Jay in his position is coming into this season like he said he didn't think he was ever going to play the challenge again so he felt lucky just being there so by him vocalizing that he was going to go out

33:36 He didn't have a choice Laurel had a choice but you know he needed to follow through because if he was seen as the guy who couldn't eat the food in the one final that he played and now he became the guy that couldn't keep his word like what I'm saying is he shouldn't have opened his mouth he should have kept his cards close to his chest and then he could have decided but as soon as he vocalized it he had to go in like so kind of cornered himself so seeing that two things that he had to go do in the daily that just wasn't in his ballpark so unlucky like he's not good with water he's got a broken nose or a nose that's not fully right so he's got to hold his nose when he's diving down which makes it harder obviously to swim down because you can't use both your arms to actually go down so you got to exert more energy and then secondly the probably the biggest one being color blind and then seeing the shades of these different puzzle pieces being so similar to each other like he couldn't have asked for a worse elimination and this is the this is those cases where you think to yourself you know I'm not a tall hat conspiracy theorist kind of person could you know I normally just say things happen the way it happens production plan things in advance and all this kind of thing but as soon as they knew Jay was going in there it felt like he was being set up because it's like did they not know he was colorblind that they not know like you know he's struggling with the swimming side of things like it just seems too convenient
